The Forgotten Forest

Miyuki looked at Sky skillfully cut the meat.

"I like it cooked, please." She wanted to see Sky cook. She shrugged.

"I feel free, outside." She stated, watching his capable hands with her wide blue eyes. "No one likes me much, though."

She thought about that for a while, she's never thought of it that way, before. "I dont think that I'd like to be running with them, though. It's a difference in belief."

She took her container and drank water.

"How about you? What happened to you?"

Sky found some crystal rocks laying by the water that was perfect to keep a fight going under the meat and sat the meat across his sheath in a row of six hanging off a rock that the sheath was laying on. He had sat another rock on the opposite end of the dangling sheath to hold it in place while the meat cooked and gathered the crystal rocks in a circle underneath the dangling meat and snapped his fingers letting a spark fly from them onto the rock immediately lighting the flame.

"It was hard where I was raised. There wasn't many people in our small village, hell let alone people that actually enjoyed being there. There was always talks of people leaving and wanting a new home but no one ever did it. Me on the other hand I left during the night to go hunting every night without anyone knowing at around 15. Then my mom found out when when i wasn't able to hide good enough from the demons and i came home pretty scratched up." He laughed a little. "barely made it out alive."...

He continued telling his story as he flipped the meet constantly catching the burning juices in his hand and re adding it to the meats to keep the flavor. He never really just sat and talked to anyone before he was even surprised for how much he was talking for being the silent type. He just felt easier around her.

Miyuki listened carefully. She enjoyed listening to another person's voice. The silence was comforting, but having someone to talk to is an entirely different thing.

"You lived in a village?" She was curious. Miyuki never lived with anyone, before. She was always alone. She never knew her parents… or creator… or whatever. Miyuki doesn't exactly know where she came from, or how she came to be. She became a wanderer for a while, lurking in the forest. Until she found this cave. It was home for her.

Sky turned the meet one last time and left on the fire to cook for about another half hour or so to finish it off and he moved to sit next to her and watched the blue flames as they talked throughout the night.

"Yea I was I guess you could say the one they always looked down on. They always said I was unusual or that I was different even my father. But the truth was I was just a someone who wanted to help and a fast learner. I also rarely got poisoned or sick from things from my body having a pretty strong immune system."

He looked to her having a bit of a sadder expression as he spoke. "Then it happened..." he turned his head to the ground remembering all the deaths, all the fires and screams that were his fault. He felt all the guilt all the pain and mostly all the anger they had towards him and that he had towards himself.

He got lost in his head again hearing people beg for mercy before hearing their bones shattering, hearing children slowing get taken deep into the thick forest around them to never be heard from again. It was a living nightmare for him and he couldn't do anything but sit by and watch.

Miyuki watched him get lost in thought. She watched the fire dancing in his eyes. She saw the terror that they hid. She saw what the horrific experience has done to this young man. She frowned.

"Then what happened?" She asked. "Something bad happened, right? Is it why you're afraid?"

She touched his arm, trying to bring him back to reality. "You can let it out, you know." Her blue eyes still stared at him with nothing but welcome and acceptance. Her breathing slow, and calm. A smile on her white cold lips.

His body trembled for a second before calming back down. He took a deep breath and collected his thoughts before trying to explain the horrors of the night.

"The demons came that night. Just as they came they were gone just as fast. what was only seconds felt like hours, My mother was special she could always sense a demons presence but no one would believe her. She hid me behind a barrier and tricked my father into going inside the barrier as well. She then went out to warn the village but it was no good and it never came back. After the slaughter only a very few remained. We relocated closer to a kingdom in the forest to feel safer and with time the village seemed to slowly go back to normal though the people never felt the same. Everyone was always wondering if it would happen again and even having night watches for the village. My father went to far though, he lost his way i knew he never like me but to turn me over to the demons is something I will personally kill him over."

Sky was trying to be as calm as possible but couldn't stop his body from tensing up, his fangs showed even though he wasn't angry, he was more sad if anything. He didn't know how to feel about what happened to him or to his friends and who he considered family.

Miyuki nodded, absorbing the new information presented to her. She watched him tense up, his fangs, his wide eyes, his body ready to attack. She had no idea how to comfort people.

"I'm so sorry." She decided to say. "I'm sorry that that had to happen to you."

She felt his pain, his loneliness, his anger, his vengeance. She teared up and hugged him. More than anything, she wanted to make things right. She wanted to live in a different world, with different circumstances… but they were stuck in this. She hugged him tighter. She realized that the subject was too heavy.

"Hey, I still like you." She said as she put her head against his chest.

His eyes widened as he snapped back to reality once more from her hugging him. before he could realize a tear was falling down his cheek and he was trying to forget. his arms held her close looking for comfort,"Im sorry, you shouldn't have to see me like this."

He felt so broken and lost. He didn't know how to go about that day and what he should do. "her words were a melody to his ears as he rested a hand on her back as her head laid on him.

Lightning would slowly revolve around the both of them as the fire died underneath the meat that had been cooking.
"You won't be alone anymore, I can promise you that."

Miyuki didnt want to let go. Ever. She inhaled his scent and hugged him tighter. So this is what it's like to have someone. She thought to herself.

"Hey we'll be okay." She mumbled against his chest. "We'll make a great tag team!"

She loosened her hug and lay comfortably on him.

"You wont ever have to experience that." She added. "Never again."

She finally pulled away after a while and smiled.
"Is it cooked yet?" Her playful tone returned.

He smiled at her before standing slowly and going over to take the meat. His warmth not leaving her from the lightning still being around her even though they were close together. and his sword and sheath back over to where they were sitting. His body lazily fell back down next to her and he sat the meat down in front of them.

"Smells like it, Take a bite let me know what you think. It might taste a little bland from not having anything to flavor it with but hopefully it'll still do."

He said laughing a little as water drops slowly fell on top of his head and flowing down his hair giving the dark color a light shine to it. He then resumed to lean back against the rock he had been on and got comfortable bringing one of his legs back up to his check and letting his arm rest on the knee.

Miyuki excitedly took a bite. She chewed and moaned. "I dont care, this is great." She devoured one piece of meat and sigh. She pushed the rest to Sky. "You need to eat too." She drank water and leaned back.

"Hey tell me about that sword." She said, curious.

He laughed a little happy she enjoyed the food. "I haven't been hungry in days since I left. Just haven't had the stomach to eat I guess." He looked at the meat and contemplated taking a bite and decided to try and eat a little later. "Maybe it'll come back after a while of resting." He said smiling up to her.

"This sword was something my village use to cherish. I never knew why and honestly I still don't, The only thing I know is that it's linked to my demon and can be used as a part of me in a way just as much as a weapon, It can adapt to elemental elements as well just like the four of earth."
He handed it to here and as it entered her aura the swords lightning dissolved him letting her power flow freely through the sheath and into the blade. A slight body of ice encased the sword and sheath.

Miyuki took the sword and it was encased in ice. She blinked a few times. Mesmerizing. She thought. She let her fingers trail over the cold sword, tracing over its beautiful details.

"It's well made." She said before handing it back to him. Miyuki has no experience with swords. But daggers weren't a stranger to her. She wondered if she could use swords like daggers. She lifted it and it almost slipped through her hands. Too heavy to be a dagger. She thought. She returned it to Sky.

Miyuki took another slab of meat and ate slower, this time. Savoring in the taste of the cooked meat.
Maybe next time I could just eat it raw. She figured. She looked at Sky and was tempted to force feed him. She opened her mouth to say something but, she heard a gun shut from outside. She closed her mouth and was suddenly alert. It wasn't close by, but…

"Sky…" she said, alarmed.

He smiled taking the sword back as the ice melted quickly and lightning engulfed for a second before dying down to nothing more than a blue aura around the sword. "I would hope those people weren't protecting it from nothing." He said with a slight laughter relaxing his head back on a the rock letting his hair be the comfort for him.

His ears twitched from the gun shot they heard and his eyes went from there dark blue to there sky demon blue and he gave a small growl. "You know eventually they'll find this place right." He looked at her with a slight worry."Also that seal won't hold off ever demon out there especially if i broke through it with merely a scratch."

He stood slowly putting his sword and sheath back on his back and let lightning spark around them both his warmth coming over her with the lightning. He wanted to keep anything that could cause her harm away and those hunters that were one of them along with the demons they controlled.

Miyuki frowned at the thought of the hunters finding her home. This was all she knew. This was her entire life. She looked at the man facing the entrance, his body covered hers protectively. For a second, she was scared. She didn't know what would happen. What if they find us? She asked herself. What if we run? She thought. The forest is our best chance. She decided.

Drip. Drip. Drip. The droplets of water echoed in the cave. She had to act now.

She quickly packed the remaining meat in her game bag. She put it over her shoulder. She got up in a hurry, kicking the fire out. She headed at the back of the cave, filled her container with water and folded the blanket. She gathered roots from the cave… she grabbed a few handfuls. She stuffed them all in her satchel. She put her satchel on her body. She was ready to run.

She approached Sky, tracing her fingers on his arm. She looked at him and held his gaze for a while. She looked back at the dark cave. Her nose twitched.
Goodbye, Cave. She bid her farewell.

"I'll go where you'd go." She let her hand trail all the way down to his hand. Her fingers interlocked with his. "You're my home now." She said, pulling him out of the cave.

Drip. Drip. Drip. The droplets echoed in the cave.

He watched as she gathered her things and thought of a new place to call home for them. He remembered a cabin far north near the mountains, the problem was from the sound of the hunters shots its in there direction. He tried to find another way around but going into an unknown part of the forest was way to risky for them to be in a hurry.

"This won't be easy to get through but I know a place where we can be safe for a while at least." He held her hand tight and stuck a hand through the seal letting the rest of its power be drained to burn the papers to try to hide there trails even more. The pain grew but he endured it. "Lets go to our new home." He said smile to her one last time until they were safe again before dashing out the broken barrier leaving a small static sound of lightning behind him from the speed and him wanting to conceal his presence.

Miyuki was silent. She trusted him.

The forest glowed as they ran through it. Silent. Quickly. Deadly. She was alert and ready. Her eyes wide, and expecting. She tightened her grip on Sky's hand, feeling the need to be closer to him.

The wind blew and the leaves swayed curiously. It was quiet… too quiet.

"I dont like this." She whispered.

There was a whoosh in the air. It was too quick. Something grabbed her leg. She was stopped from running, and she tripped, letting go of Sky's hand in the process.

"SKY, RUN." She let out a bloodcurdling shriek.

"His demon consumed him from her scream and he turned quickly sliding and removing his sword from his sheath letting lightning spiral around him. "Miyuki!!" He yelled back to her dashing back for her leaving a wall of lightning behind him not caring about the silence anymore. "You'll die for touching her!!" he could see that he was catching up but he felt more around them but he knew they were heading to the opening in the forest. The plains are what his people called it nothing but open grass with tree's surrounding them. He knew He could stop them there but killing them was another story.

He stayed behind them for this purpose knowing he could catch up if he needed to ready to go on a slaughter. He didn't know what these demons wanted her for or if they even were demons but he knew that all of them will die just a swiftly as they came one by one.

Miyuki clawed the ground, trying to get a hold of something… anything. She growled angrily. She flipped over, her back to the ground. She was being dragged quickly, her skin burned from the friction. She unwraped her tail and stabbed the arm of the one dragging her. She heard him groan and his blood trickled down on her leg.

"Let go!" She struggled.

"Keep your trap shut." She heard him say. She shivered at the sound of his voice. It was cold… and dead. She felt cold. For an ice demon, it was rare to feel cold. But she was. Something was definitely wrong.

"Who are you?" She whispered against the wind.

"We're here to finish unfinished business." He replied as they entered the plain.

He growled demonically and low his body barely visible he dashed passed them and quickly whispered to her as he did."I'm here." His voice was deep and demonic but familiar. He jumped high into the air making a 180* turn as he did so looking back at his prey wanting there heads.

He landed roughly sliding backwards a little and digging his hand into the ground. His body pulsed with anger as he rose up lightning flared around the plain and trees flared up into flames. "You'll die." he said low to himself as he waited

Miyuki heard him.

"Sky." She gasped.

Whatever held her down, let go of her. She crawled away from her attacker and stood up quickly. She held her ground and her eyes adjusted to the sight that was in front of her.

It was… they were… 3 demons. They were red and naked. Tall. Deadly. There were markings on their skin… they seemed familiar. They had their backs on her. They were facing Sky. Miyuki looked around quickly, looking for a water source, anything at all. Her tail stiffened. She reached to her satchel and pulled oht her trusty dagger.

"Isn't this a familiar sight, Miyuki?" The one in the center asked. He took a step towards Sky and the demon growled.

Sky was left unmoved, annoyed if there had to be an emotion to put to his state of mind. He took a step to forward and as he did his body was barely a vivid image as he dashed off leaving the wall of lightning behind him and it begin to split into the earth from his built up anger. towards the demon to the right of him. He wasn't going to lose her not this soon, not after finally holding someone to hold onto. His mind replayed all there deaths, all the useless sacrifices for nothing. His whole village wiped out for nothing more than a midnight snack. He refused to have this happen to anyone else he held dear and just the thought pissed him off. "Never again!" His low demonic voice shouted as he rushed towards the enemy.

The demon to the right of Sky was knocked off guard, hissing.

"Fiesty." The demon in the center had the guts to comment. "See you soon." He said as He left Sky and Miyuki, allowing his fellow demon to be slaughtered by the raging Sky.

Miyuki blinked, dumbfounded with the happenings. Her mind was racing.
How did he know my name? Her eyes darted to Sky and his kill.

Sky's sword aimed for the demons heart as he formed a ball of lightning in his left hand and through it high into the air and made sure the current flow of the lightning was fast enough to hold it still in the air. The demon tried to catch sky's blade as it went flying towards. Bringing both hand to the blade the demon was just barely able to stop his blade and sky knowing he could push the blade in glared into this demons eyes wanting his soul to suffer as Sky's soul does."Why..." Sky gathered up the thought he's being trying to get out. He then let go of his blade and swung around the back of the demon while he was still stunned by the first attack and let his right hand be engulfed in vigorous lightning that shot out in all directions and he shoved the hand through the demon's back bringing him to his knees and dropping the sword. Sky then swung back around to the front facing the demon as him and the sword was falling and dug the sword through the demons heart.

He quickly removed the sword and jumped back and into the air behind the ball of lightning and sheathing the sword as he did so spun 180* extending his right leg half way and kicking the ball full forced towards the demon. It was soundless as it traveled through the air but the demon barely was able to dodged to the right of the massive explosion that was happening from the ball. Sky had planned for this and used the ball as a diversion for his landing and engulfed his hand in lightning once more before quickly dashing towards his target putting his hand through the enemy's stomach and letting the lightning send volts throughout his body that expanded from Sky's hand into the brush behind them as well burning the bushes and slicing through tree's and he looked at his dying foe and finished hi's words."Why do you proceed to try and rip me apart."

He removed his bloody hand and let the lightning burn it away before leaving him the wind blowing heavily now from his untamed power. He stood in the center of the plains looking up into the dark gloomy sky and took a deep breath calming his powers down enough to stop the storming and lightning strikes making the skies clear once more but the wind stayed at a steady pace but finally broke and started to slow down as he brung his head to look down his hair covering his face making him seem even more like a monster.

Miyuki approached Sky slowly, unsure of the happenings. Her bare feet making soft footsteps, leaving ice. Her face showed exhaustion and confusion. Her eyes, diluted. Her body posture, sloppy. The air around her was cold as ice. It almost snowed. Almost. She watched the demon in front of her. She watched him fight, she watched him calm down. She saw the monster he could be, but wanted him anyway. Her cold hand reached for him, unshaking… unafraid. She stroked his burning hot face with her icy cold soft fingers. Her fingers danced, going behind his neck. She pressed her cold body into his in a chilly embrace.

"Sky." She said his name. She didn't know what just happened. She had no idea why it happened. She didn't know why the red marked demon was familiar. She didn't know why they wanted her. The only thing she knew is that she couldn't bare losing the man in her arms.

"I'm here. I'll always be here." She whispered in his ear. Her icy breath leaving its mark on his neck. "They're gone… they're gone."

Tears flowed down her face… they didn't last long before freezing into ice crystals.
