Fantasy The Euphorian Highschool for Empowereds

Elaena looked back at him when he made a suggestion on what to have for dinner "Oh! I almost forgot that we didn't even discuss dinner. It's Sounds nice. As long as it's snail free I'll eat it." She said with a small laugh "But we've already covered that." She said as she followed him up the stairs "And yes. I do not think this place is a dump. I've lived in a few dumps before when I was younger My family moved alot so I've seen some pretty crummy places." She joked.
Ansom laughed a bit. "I'll throw in a snail just to mess with you." He winked and went up another set of stairs, bringing him to the third level of about twelve. He walked over to a door labeled '317' and placed a key into the door handle. He turned the key, enabling a clicking noise to come from the door. He pushed the handle down and opened the door, walking inside. Ansom's apartment was surprisingly clean but the moment anyone walked in, they would feel like something was off. Either the walls looked just a bit darker than what was expected or that the couch was slightly offset color than the rest of the room. At some points, it may even feel like the room was slanted when it wasn't. "Make yourself at home. Want a drink? I've got soda, water, or even wine if you're into that."

As Ansom was listing what drinks she could have Elaena was already dividing her attention with exploring the slanted yet not slanted floor. Taking a step or two in each different direction, her expression slightly puzzled because she was sure the floor was infact straight, to look at. Assuming that it was her imagination or something to do with her own occasional skewing of reality and taking in the fact that she look a bit odd in her actions she stopped what she was doing to answer Ansom. "Oh. Thank you~ Some soda is fine. I've never had wine before so I don't know what my tolerance is like. I'd rather not make a fool of myself." She answered as she made her way over to the couch "You know. More than usual." She added with a laugh.

Gail wasn't stupid - she had been around for about 500 years, and she had picked up a few things over the centuries. She could tell when people were hiding things. Ren was acting very much like one of those people. She admitted to herself, it was nagging at her. "OK, well...if you say so." Still, it wasn't her place to pry. Most people have a reason to hide things from friends, and she was sure that Ren had his own good reasons. She looked at him with a hint of suspicion in her face, but it quickly faded back into her usual smile.

Instead, she decided to answer his questions. "Well, yeah. Swimming was great back in my day - before things like metal drinks cans and shopping trolleys filled up the rivers. On my family estate we had a river flowing through it - I used to sneak out of the house to swim in it. We had roach in that river - small, cute little fish - and they used to swim up to me whenever I got in. They were like hundreds of little puppies, all with different personalities and preferences." Gail smiled as she reminisced about the roach. She remembered the time it took for them to get used to her, and that eventually they all seemed happy to swim about her. "I was just a child before I died - I had barely turned 18 - so I wasn't really focused on the family business. It was my sister who was to claim our little throne, so to speak, so I was just happy...well, milling about I guess. I used to read quite a lot - I even dabbled in writing myself, but that all changed when I...you know. Died." Gail's face dropped a little bit, but not that much. It had been roughly five centuries since she died, so she had become better with it. "It's hard, sometimes, being dead but eventually you get used to it. Like losing an arm, or becoming blind - it sorta becomes normal after a while."

Gail sighed as she looked out towards the lake, before looking back to Ren. "What about you? Do you enjoy swimming?"
Ren had listened to Gail as she told him a bit about her life. At least the parts that seemed a bit more friendly. Last time they talked about her life, it was her last moments alive. It was nice to hear about the things she did before the end of her life. "I see... Pollution ruined it all. To this day, it continues to do so. Some believe there's islands where they just dump heaps of garbage out there." He said, adding on to the bit about how cans, and trolleys began to show up in the rivers. She then started to talk about her home, and from the way things sounded, it seemed like a beautiful place. He chuckled a bit, happy to see Gail enjoying herself as she told him her story. Her smile showed that. Eventually that smile went away, and she told him that she had gotten used to being dead... Or better yet, adapted.

Ren look at Gail and smiled, "All those things you mentioned... Losing an arm, or becoming blind... Any life changing events like those two, people adapt to." He said, rubbing his chin. "Seems to me, you haven't gave up your humanity. You too adapted, even as a dead person. In a way... You're the most 'alive' dead person I know." Ren added before covering his mouth. "sorry if I said anything offensive there... You just seem more livelier than the average ghost and... And well that's one of the many things I like about you. Makes you stand out." Ren then rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment. "And now I'm just spewing all kinds of stuff, huh?" He laughed nervously.

Makoto yelped when the chain was used against her. It seemed like a weapon idea to make the chain sharper might be a bad idea. She was then released before Akane asked her. She then looked at her before thinking for a moment. She wanted to get stronger. But she had to train her body, especially for this new weaponry she wants to try out. But at the same time, she also wants to improve her use of weapons, especially blades. There was so much stuff she wanted to improve on. Her aim is also part of it, but it's just practicing with a gun. However her main focus as of now were strength and weapon use. She could always make her weapons better through research and taking ideas and adapting, but there was a weapon she wanted to use that needs her to be stronger. They were heavy hand cannons with no arm brace. They fired off explosive rounds with high precision. She just can't seem to wield them with a hand only. She looked back up at Akane before speaking. "I can improve my weapons with modifications and such, but there is one type of weapon that requires me to get stronger. I need physical training."
Akane raised a brow when Makoto explained what she was trying to obtain from this session. Turning around for a moment, Akane seemed to be doing something with her back turned to the girl. When she turned back around... Her hands were still empty. "One of my many powers involve making armors and weapons to fit my need and help my body sustain the power needed to use said weapons. I can make a sword as strong as I want, and a armor to go with it for defense. The armor also grants me other abilities that would be suitable for the fighting style I want to use. Now being... As powerful as I am, I already have most of these abilities so I'm not exactly affected by the armor, but if I were to make you a set, you'd experience the benefits of wearing it. Though... From the looks of it you aren't a metal kind of gal." Akane said, walking around Makoto, as if inspecting her. In a way she was. Akane was just sizing her up. "Show me this heavy weapon you're talking about."

Ansom turned to face Elaena after he listed the drinks. He watched as she seemed to attempt at figuring out the layout of his apartment. He chuckled a bit. "Don't focus too much on it. It's made so that the more you try to figure it out, the worse it gets. Always keep in mind who's apartment you're in." He laughed some as he opened the fridge in the small kitchen area and grabbed a can of Coca-Cola. He was about to toss it to Elaena but then it crossed his mind that she probably wasn't one to catch things unexpectedly. He shook his head and smiled as he walked over to her and handed the soda to her. "It shouldn't hurt to give wine a taste. But, I'm not gonna urge you to try it." He smiled and walked back to the fridge, closing it and reaching above it to grab a bottle of wine. It was a decent vintage, dated back at 1910. It wasn't the most aged wine but it was decent. He uncorked it and poured himself a glass, taking a sip before setting it on the counter and returning the bottle to the top of the fridge. "Alright. So chicken parmesan?"

She smiled somewhat sheepishly when he told her not to focus on the floor too much. She thought she had stopped in time to not be spotted doing so, obviously not. "I thought it was my own mind playing tricks on me for a moment" she admitted. He was right in deciding that throwing the can wouldn't be the best, there was a 110% chance the can would be either dropped, not caught in the first place or the can would just hit her in the face instead or something. Taking the can she shrugged her shoulders after his comment on the wine. "Maybe I'll try a little later" she said as she watched him walk back to the kitchen, nodding when he asked about food again "Yes~" She answered as she opened the can of soda "Would you like some help?" She offered, feeling it was the polite thing to do.

On the way home from the arena where Perfect was, Skylar had fallen asleep in Hyou's arms. She was exhausted of all of her energy from Perfect having been absorbing it over the last few days, and Hyou was so careful with carrying her that she didn't even feel him moving. So without even meaning to, she slipped unconscious, sleeping quietly in his arms for the entirety of the walk home. Because Hyou didn't want to do anything but walk, it took a bit to get back to the campus, but not long enough for Skylar to wake up. Gently, Hyou had placed her in her bed, to sleep somewhere more comfortable and safe for a little bit. If Skylar were awake, she would have thanked him. Instead, she was tangled deeply in a very detailed dream. It was more like a nightmare, really. The events of what happened leading up to getting absorbed by Perfect were replaying in her head. She was in the city, doing some shopping because she needed to get a few things, as well as wanting to get Hyou a gift. Everything seemed fine, before there was some commotion happening on the outer edge of the city. She would have avoided it, but she was too close to it to really avoid it. It seemed like the area was under attack by some unknown entity. An attack landed near her, sending her and the things she was carrying flying. Skylar was prepared enough to recenter herself, landing on her feet a good four or five yards away. Thankfully, she had been able to create a "SLOW" script to slow herself in midair and increase her drag so she could land. This influx of magic seemed to catch the attacker's attention, and before she knew what had happened it had her by the throat, staring her down as if assessing her and what she could do. The next thing she knew, there was blackness. It took her a bit to realize that she had been absorbed, since she couldn't really see or feel much anything. What she could feel was her strength being slowly sapped away, and a strange feeling like her and her abilities were tethered to wherever she was. From this, she deduced that the thing that attacked the city had absorbed her and was using her for both a power source and as a means for using her scripting ability. Of course, she tried to fight it, not like that did anything. Eventually Perfect had absorbed so much of her power that she was weakened to a point that her whole body and appearance changed. Time meant nothing. She had no idea how much time had passed before she was released. It felt like an eternity before she felt fresh air on her face. In the dream, she saw Hyou running up to her, only for the dream to distort into the first time she was attacked, the attack by Hyou himself. Skylar couldn't help but whimper at the sight, not wanting to remember this. "Hyou..." she spoke, speaking aloud outside the dream as well. Skylar tossed and turned in bed as the dream continued, with the messed up version of Hyou slowly approaching her, spewing all the insults that he did the night he attacked her as well. Tears formed in Skylars eyes, as she called out before Hyou attacked in the dream. It cut off there as Skylar woke up suddenly and sat up, yelling out like she had in the dream. "Hyou!" She called, the tears from the dream also having formed in her eyes. Anxiety wracked her body as she looked around, noticing that Hyou wasn't around either. Also she was in her dorm instead of outside in the arena. Confused and scared, the tears turned to worried cries as she called Hyou's name once more, moving to get out of bed to try and find him and calm down.
Hyou, at some point after Lily left, sat down on the chair. He had it facing towards the window, as he was enjoying the view he had got before sitting down and didn't want to lose it just because he wanted to relax. Lily came back into the room and hopped up onto the chair and looked out the window once more with Hyou. "Nice view... Pretty sure short stuff would like it." Hyou said, chuckling a bit. "She's still all that's on your mind?" Lily asked curiously. Hyou nodded, a slight smile on his face. Of course she was. She was always on his mind. Even before this. Thinking of something else that wasn't her was rather hard to do for him, and it didn't bother him one bit. "I always think about those I love... Sky more than others though." He said, responding to Lily. With a smirk, Lily spoke, "Happy to hear you at least think about me." He said, laughing a bit. "Aw shut up." Hyou replied. Eventually Hyou found himself thinking about Alejandro and that damned Astrid. They may have had their differences, but she started to grow on him... and he knew exactly how Alejandro felt about her. As much as he hated to admit it, the person he used to despise the most... Well she seemed perfect for him. He could only wonder if something happened, seeing as he received no calls or text from Alejandro.

The area had quieted down a bit, and Lily had fallen asleep. Hyou was slowly starting to go too. Just as his eyes began to flytter shut, he heared his name. It was faint, and assumed it was just his imagination. He was tired after all. Just as he closed his eyes once again, his name was called. This time it was a scream. It was Skylar. Hyou got up moving almost as if he were warping around. He pushed open Skylar's bedroom door and quickly made his way over to her bed, "I'm here, Sky... I'm here, don't worry." He said, trying to comfort her.

Ansom looked over at Elaena and smiled a bit. "Well...I'm a bit of an untraditional cooker. But I wouldn't want you to sit awkwardly on the couch." He laughed and nodded. "So I'll try to cook like a normal person while you're here. Can you get a pan from the cabinet underneath the stove? Just set it on the stove and then grab the jar of sauce from the panty...unless you wanted sauce made from scratch?"

Her smile showed that. Eventually that smile went away, and she told him that she had gotten used to being dead... Or better yet, adapted.

Ren then rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment. "And now I'm just spewing all kinds of stuff, huh?" He laughed nervously.

Gail nodded about the landfill islands. "It is a shame, truly, but I don't hold it on people. We humans by nature are fairly short sighted, and often fail to see the consequences of our actions. Whether it be plastic and metal refuse in these times, or deforestation or over-hunting in my time, it's all the same." Gail, while she was heavily disappointed by big corporations dumping everything wherever they saw fit, she had lived long enough to know that there was little she could about it. Kings have always ruined the lands around them, and just because these kings don't wear crowns and instead wear suits doesn't change that fact. Besides, there were plenty of people actively trying to save the planet, so she could rest in peace easily enough.

Gail sighed as Ren continued on, not out of boredom or impatience, but out of relief. Relief that, despite who she was, Ren still thought good of her. Today, there is tonnes of media and bad press about ghosts and ghouls, and how they want to eat your soul or whatever, and Gail had been on the end of that sharp stick. Perhaps that was why she spent the last five centuries wandering around the globe with no real goal - it certainly did her little good to stay in one place. She was relieved that Ren, despite what everyone else saw, could see her as what she used to be - a person. Someone with feelings, loves, hates, regrets. He had proven this many times over, but it still made her smile. She chuckled as Ren apologised about his dead comment - to be honest, she didn't mind Ren saying it. She didn't know why, but she suspected it was friendship. Like when two old war veterans joke on with each other about being shot, she was glad that Ren could see something so negative about her in a positive way.

As Ren finished speaking, Gail giggled alongside Ren's laughing. Sighing, now content, she looked into the lake. "You know, ten years ago this lake had trash everywhere on it - plastic floating on the surface, metal cans at the bottom, refuse at the banks. I came here that first night I arrived here, and decided that, if I was going to try and find a way to die - to truly die - I was wanting to leave something behind for those who came here. No-one knew who I was, and I came here at night anyways, but eventually I managed to get this lake clean again. It was long work, but I had time. Time was always something that I had in excess, so I decided to spend it on something good and productive, for a change." As Gail finished, she reached for Ren's hand. "Have you ever been in the centre of a lake? I suppose you haven't, since you can't float like a ghost, but it's so wonderful. Despite the fact that everyone can see you, they can never see you properly - it's simply too far away. That middle ground between solitude and public attention...it can be relaxing. Not to mention the calmness out there."

Elaena had stood up from the couch and made her way to the kitchen as soon as he nodded "Well, yes. That is why I offered. Just watching someone cook for me isn't something I normally do" She said as she entered the kitchen and began to search the cabinet for a pan like he had asked. "Im fine with just using the premade sauce if you are, I'm not picky" she answered with a shrug "So, I'm curious about how you normally cook." She said as she put the pan on the stove. "I assume your cooking methods are how weird things go into your recipes?" She asked as she lifted the jar of sauce to open it.

Ansom nodded to the question asked by Elaena. "Well, yeah, I suppose. According to my sister, I grab whatever I can find and throw into the large pot. After a bit of cooking and stirring, the meal always comes out just as it was originally supposed to." He shrugged a bit. "I never realized that's what I did until Serenity told me."

Ansom shrugged. "Up until my sister told me about it, I thought I was cooking the correct way. I mean, it would always come out how I wanted so why would I think differently?" He asked with a small laugh as he got a large pot and filled it with water about halfway. He put the pot on the stove and turned it on to start the heating of the water. He then reached into a cabinet and pulled out a deep fryer, plugging it in and letting it heat up. "There's flour under the sink. Can you grab it for me?"

Elaena nodded, bending down to the cupboard below the sink to reach the flour he asked for "Well I suppose that makes sense... And I suppose why would you cook any other way when you get what you want in the end either way." She said as she grabbed the flour and handed it over to him. "Oh, I guess I'm sorry for making you have to actually cook the plain old human way..." She said with a soft laugh, closing the cupboard again "I'm sure it would have been quicker your own way"

Ansom shook his head as he grabbed the sack of flour. "Oh no, don't be apologetic. I've been trying to morph into a normal member of society after all. Might as well get better at normal cooking." He chuckled and poured some flour into a plastic bowl. He then added cayenne spice and other various seasonings. He shook the mixture rub around and then reached into the refrigerator, grabbing a pack of raw chicken. He opened the packet and placed a breast into the mixture, mixing it with the powdered mix, coating it. Meanwhile, the water began to bubble and boil. "The noodles are in the pantry..." He nodded to the door at the end of the kitchen area. "Just pour however much you'll think we'll need into the water."

Elaena went to the pantry and began searching for the noodles, after searching for a bit, she found them, taking the bag over to where the pot of boiling water was "Well, yes I suppose that would be sort of important if you wish to live as normal as possible." She said with a nod as she continued to pour some noodles into the water, stopping when she felt there was enough. "So, how well is that going for you so far?" She asked after she finished poring the noodles "You know, trying to be a 'normal' member of society. Is it more difficult than being a god? Or easier?"

Ansom thought about Elaena's question a moment as he put the coated chicken breast into the deep fryer and dipped the rack into the oil. He put the second breast into the rest of the powder before he answered. "Well...I suppose just think about it reversed. Would a human be better at being a god than being normal?" He chuckled softly. "Being a god is normal to me. Being human is a strange concept that I am finding difficulty in adapting to. But I think I'm doing well. I haven't destroyed a building in six months." He smiled wide and looked over at Elaena before quickly turning back to the chicken. "Make sure the sauce doesn't heat up too much. It can get all crusty."

Elliot nodded slowly "Ah. Cool. I get it, I think." He answered before going quiet for a moment "So what kind of power is it?" He asked curiously. "Like what can you do that's different now?"
"What I mean is, I feel like I have a lot more power than before. Like getting stronger, you know? I just need to learn how to use it right." She said as her hair began to revert to red. "Huh, it also seems the more magic I use... The more my hair glows? Cool." She said before getting a hair tie and tying her hair up. It was pretty long actually. Probably even passed the standards of long hair. Even if she tied it up, it just went up to about half her thigh. It was really long. "Hm... I don't think I should get a hair cut."

Elaena smiled back at him when he mentioned his feat of not destroying a building in so long. But quickly looked to where the sauce was when he mentioned it "Oh? Right. Of course." She answered as she moved over to the sauce to check on it and stir it, fixing the heat down on it to stop it from crusting. As she did so she thought about the situation being flipped. How would she do as a Goddess? She supposed she'd find it odd, even with the powers she already had. "Well, going so long without destroying things is certainly something to be proud of. I hope this new way of life continues to go well for you and makes you happy." She said as she looked over at him.

"Ah, sure." She said before she stepped back a little bit before letting out a breath. She then brought her arms in an X formation before bringing them up and then down, summoning two large rocket launchers that seemed self-made. It was easy to tell from the looks of it, it was pretty darn heavy. It had a bulky build. It can probably even be used as a shield or used to parry attacks like a sword would. It had a belt of rockets wrapped around the gun already. She then let go of one of them and swung the other to her other hand so she was carrying it using two hands, like she would with a rifle. But even then, it was heavy. "This is a new hand cannon I made. It has the ultimate piercing firepower along with the explosives of gunpowder and speed of an electric current. I do have laser rail guns, but sometimes I also want a bit of an explosive impact. So, I made this. Loading modified explosive rounds that can penetrate right through a few tanks. Yes, I kind of did have to travel somewhere to find some wreckage and line them up to test the rounds. I could also just use a single hand cannon, but it just doesn't feel right. This is actually a smaller version of the big gun I'm making right now. Though, I would have to travel to a very isolated area because it's... Very destructive. Possibly more than overkill."

"Ah. Right." He answered, taking another sip of water when she began talking about her hair "Why not?" He asked, pausing when he realised what he said, his cheeks flaring red. "I-I mean don't if you don't want to! I w-wasnt saying it needs cut or anything! It's nice how it is-" he paused for a moment as his gaze moved off to the side "I-I mean. Well yeah. It is nice. I was just asking why you didn't think you should. Uhm. Sorry. It was a dumb question" he answered quietly.

Kenai laughed a little "Okay, okay. We'll see that one." He said as they beared the movie theater "And I don't find clowns funny either, I'm just not all that scared of them is all. They have gross, painted on smiles." He said with a shrug.

Ilaani laughed a little and shrugged her shoulders "I guess we were new-ish friends?" She said narrowing her eyes for a moment "We hung out a few times. He kissed me. Ended up asking me out and I agreed since we did have fun hanging out together and stuff and thought maybe I liked him. He started to disappear for a few days at a time... then weeks at a time with his friend, so we rarely saw eachother, so it kind of felt like I didn't know him all that well.. He'd always return acting like we were this super close couple or something which was already strange and then One day he came back and tried to propose. I mean...he planned on disappearing again right after that and he did too so yeah. I don't know what he thought I was to him friend or 'girlfriend' or whatever. I guess he thought I'd always just wait around for him after he'd do whatever the hell he wanted in between times or something? That's obviously not how I work and things sorta just ended because of it...and the whole proposal thing was uncomfortable, obviously." She explained giving a small sigh "You know. telling it like that again makes it sound even weirder. Stupid even. I haven't went near dating since that mess" She said giving another laugh.
"Maybe I'll hire a clown for your birthday~ or maybe I'll just show up as a clown myself, that'd be even better" She said and grinned. Even if she hated clowns, she'd dress up as one just for fun. "Painted on smiles. that creepy voice, the laugh... ugh, the laugh gives me chills." she said and wrapped herself in a hug, pretending to shake a bit.

Allen's eyebrows raised when she confessed that he'd disappear for days or weeks at a time for a friend. That just wasn't right. Sure, Allen had kinda disappeared for a while, but it wasn't like he and Ilaani were dating either. Now he wished he was there to help Ilaani out with that, but he had to deal with family matters, so he couldn't. Allen laughed and shook his head, "God that guy sounds awful, just expecting you to wait around for him whenever he felt like seeing you? That's ridiculous." He said, shaking his head. "I don't think you should let it stop you from dating though, I'm not saying you should rush into a relationship or anything, I just hope you don't think all guys are like that... considering I kinda disappeared too."

Ansom couldn't help but smile some more. It was odd to have someone other than his sister be supportive and positive about what Ansom could be or what he already was. Though, as he thought about it, other people have been supportive during the first days of meeting Ansom but over time, they disappeared completely. It happened with his daughters and with the mothers of those daughters. His smile faded and he sighed, pulling thy fryer rack out of the oil and observing the golden crust on the chicken. He tilted his head and then decided to put it back in for a few more moments. He drank the rest of his glass of wine and set the glass into the sink. "Are you going to want some bread with the pasta?" Ansom asked after a bit of silence.

Ryft was still a little apprehensive about the whole situation. Of course it would be ideal not to be beaten up but... he just didn't care about it all that much. It was what it was. Nothing he could really do about it anyways. And plus, it was still strange to have someone showing actual concern about him. So it was a bit hard to comprehend and accept what Zero was doing. However, he had already apparently accepted help, so it wouldn't make sense to deny it now. Ryft also couldn't deny that having Zero giving him support did alleviate some of the pressure off his body. Another appraisal of his body and he determined that with this help he could make it to the infirmary with minimal problems. The weapon opened his mouth to thank Zero before he suddenly felt himself be lifted. Now instead of standing on the ground with support, he was being held almost effortlessly in Zero's arms. Ryft looked up at his friend with a surprised expression, certainly not expecting this to happen. He felt a strange feeling in his chest, like his heart was beating harder or something. He paid it no mind though. A diagnostics check revealed that this was actually a more optimal solution than just walking with support, so the weapon just nodded. "Uh... yes." Ryft spoke, any unsure-ness in his voice due to the strangeness of the situation.
Zero smiled when Ryft said it was alright. Typically, any other guy might struggle a bit with carrying someone, but Zero was pretty strong, even if he might not look like it. "So, Ryft. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of powers do you have?" he asked. He wanted to change the subject to something that would bring up the mood. As far as he could see, Ryft didn't have any features that would give a hint as to what he was, nothing like horns, or a tail, or even sharp teeth. He was curious none the less, but he'd ask later when they knew each other better. Ryft just looked like a normal guy. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, for some people I get it can be a personal thing." He added. Ryft was a new friend, and he didn't want to say anything that might make him uncomfortable..

"Hm... I dunno. I just don't think I shouldn't. Besides, it's not like it'll get in the way or anything." She said before she finished her bottle of water. She then crushed it using her hands and then setting it on the table. She then realized she could've freaked Elliot a bit so she smiled at him, giggling slightly. "Don't worry about the bottle. That's just what I do so there's more space in the recycle later."
