Edit: Just a little question, which year the tournament is taking place? If it's in the near future this mean I have to push forward Kalynka's age, because she was born in the 1950's

Hello everybody! does anyone know when the actual tournament will begin, or what requirements we have to meet before it begins? I'm a little unclear on that, or maybe I just didn't read through well enough... :/

Originally i had it be 16 people to begin the actual tournament, but pushed it down to 8. Normally the tournament would have officially started, but the earlier applicants are either indefinitely AFK or have just decided not to return. At least three are active, and a possible three more. So we basically need a few people. If you guys got anyone then invite them or tell them about the RP.

Somewhere in the near future, around 2018 to 2020. The year is very confusing but it is set in modern times.

Mostly it's if you're worried that they'll forget about the tournament. But if they could tell a friend that'd be good too, if you want more people.

I feel like starting it right now would leave us with an odd bracket. Generally 4, 8, 16, 32, etc, provide the smoothest brackets for tournaments. But it's ultimately your call on how you want to operate. But being that it's a tournament, the further in we get, the less opportunity people have to jump in. If we do it one battle at a time though, we could probably add more people in as the first round progresses. That or everyone just makes a second character and run two brackets.


On another note though, where (country, city, etc.) does the tournament take place? I don't recall that was ever specified.

I was actually thinking of that earlier today lol. But most likely the USA or somewhere else in North America. If the US then probably the west coast, just to be precise. As for the bracket i am fine with everyone making a second or third character, of course they have to be different. However i would prefer if you guys contacted anyone you know on this site to join the RP to expand it or at least get the word out. I would do it myself, but i am only in one other RP and people in there are not the Colosseum type.

That could do, or something like Sacramento, Seattle, San Diego, etc. However LA is fine by me.

I just want to clarify to everyone that practice battles are allowed and creating more characters are allowed (of course they all have to be different), hell i have been thinking of making a character of my own for the tournament.

Like i said, you guys can make other characters or we can do practice matches. If we start now it would be awkward as i think we only have six active players.

Yeah i sent them a message, but only one of them replied. They said that IRL stuff happened and probably won't be participating.

They way I see it. You wanted to start with eight people. You have been waiting for eight people, okay, that's fine. But you have been waiting for that perfect number for so long that the people who made a character back in June have left. Who can blame them really. I wouldn't. But because they left, now we are left waiting again. By the time you get those next two players, I am willing to bet two more would have left because they were left waiting. Then you have to wait again for that perfect eight.


It's nothing more then a viscous cycle that only hurts.


I get that you want to wait for eight. But if you know we have six people on board, and people are asking for the main game to start, then why not start supplying the demand. It's not the job of a GM to hold out on the main game till that perfect number arrives, it's the job of the GM to adapt to the situation and meet the wants of the players. Because your RP is nothing without people to play it.


And yes I know that mock battles are open and you are giving us the freedom to explore the hotel. But all that's doing is giving us a small piece of candy from the sweet mountain that you are blocking us all off from. You see?


Bottom line. I see what you are doing to make sure people still have fun. But I think it's time to let go of that perfect number eight, and find a way to let us to get to the good stuff. People have been asking.

This is my first RP that i actually started (and tbh i knew it most likely wouldn't do that well), so i am being a bit cautious. But yeah i was going to go on with the six and was going to address the competitors later today. Now that i have said that, what i plan on doing is having two battles to decide who would be in the final four and then the main game.
