Fantasy The Darkened Skies

Daren

"Daren," he replied, shaking the other's hand, "the guy who was wandering around lost the entire time." The conversation was staying relatively calm on his end. The other two were a little more excitable, but he didn't mind; it actually made everything all the more interesting. However, there was one little detail that the teenager had never depended on.

The moment that the words left Lyra's mouth, it became difficult to stand. He was just laughing too hard for balance to be properly maintained. It might've just been the abruptness of it, or the fact that it had come from a five year old. Hell, it might've been both reasons. Either way, it was probably the best thing that he had heard in a week. It was one of those quiet laughs, so at least Daren didn't have to worry about the sudden volume freaking anybody out.

And, as much as he wanted to reply to Ellias, it was a bit hard to do so whilst there was so little air in his lungs. "H-holy, haha." The brunette gasped; trying his best to stay on his feet. "Sh-she's right. You were... Oh my gods..." Yeah, no. He was failing. Big time.

Sera

How many times was she going to step on the freaking skirt? Why the fudge did it have to be so needlessly long?! As long as it covered everything it needed to, Sera honestly saw no point in the need of excess fabric. It seemed like, with every step she took, her boot would come in contact with the material; pinning it to the ground and almost making her fall over. Every time, the girl would just angrily yank the skirt out of harm's way. At this point, it was only a matter of time before she actually did fall, or if the fabric finally ripped from how often she had stepped on it.

Sera took a deep breath, in an attempt to calm herself down a bit. Rampaging would do no good; especially not in a place like this. She was a fudge mothering Dragon Master! She had defeated one of the largest fire dragons out there when she was only 16. She had passed the test that the Queen had given her; and had indirectly fought a freaking Duelist. Finding a simple banquet should be an easy task for someone like her, right?

Drawing in another breath, the redhead tried to focus on the smells. Whilst her nose, without the direct aid of her dragon, was probably no match for a dog's, it was still pretty strong. The place she was in was rather foreign, and so were many scents that had reached her. Still, if it was food, it shouldn't be too hard to track down. Now, accidentally reaching the kitchen? That was a bigger possibility than what Sera would've preferred.

(@Idea @kokochii @CHIMNY Maybe? I dunno who's near me? I'm just kind of going off of Idea's last post)

Kheal had heard about this banquet from bhonz and had instantly come running over, venturing for not too long, he was a fast beast, this was no challenge, and maybe he could steal some jewels whilst he was at it. He wondered if when he got to the table whether he would play dumb and cute or just sneak past and ignore the food. The food it was, he licked his lips in thought.

he arrived the next day at the palace and began to observe the palace from nearby buildings, looking for a way in. He watched as guards patrolled by, they would need some good luck to find him, he snuck past them as if they were blindmen and easily scaled the wall, arriving in a luxurious guest room.

Delmara had instantly dove under a table when the stone warriors came to life. She had no weapons with her and there was no water nearby for her to use, so she hid. She was so ashamed of not helping the others that she stayed under the table until everyone left the room. Sneaking out of the castle, she hurried home. Surely she had no place in that group. She intended to curl up with a good book and go back to her lifelong studies, but she started feeling restless again. This feeling of restlessness had been happening more and more. She wanted to do something that made a difference, something important. She started replaying the battle in her mind and realized that she was the only one of her race that had been present. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that she had much to offer the group. She could control water in many ways, some she was not even aware of since she had never had a desire to explore the true nature of her abilities. With a long, drawn out sigh she stood and gathered up a few items and her spear that was in the corner of her bedroom then headed back to the castle to join in the banquet. Hopefully she would still be accepted.

She stopped at the gate and asked the guard there for directions to the banquet, flashing her parchment invitation once more while explaining that she had to go home and gather a few things. She followed his directions and hesitantly entered the banquet hall, not sure of her reception from the others. As she scanned the room, she noticed that none of the others had arrived yet. She made her way to a seat in a remote corner to read her book and wait for the others to arrive.

@everyone

Kheal looked around the bedroom, it was very ornate and expensive, shame he couldn't carry the bed, it would cost a lot. Kheal silently glided towards the door, and pressed his right ear against it, he could hear guards, but a little way off.

After a moment of collecting himself, kheal slowly opened the door and put his head out into the corridor, peering left and right. He had never seen luxury like this before, statues, posh plants and vases were settled

At even intervals, his jaw had almost dropped. He silently jogged down the left side, listening out for guards and following his nose, making sure not let his claws touch the floor and make clicking noises.

After a good half hour of creeping, hiding in and behind ornaments, hanging out windows and acting like a stuffed animal, Kheal was standing before THE door, he knew there would be guards behind it, he leaned against a wall and took time to ponder over how he would get in.

Placing her hand over her mouth, Everet giggled. It wasn't meant in a mocking way, but filled with warmth and reassurance. He actually barked. So cute! Internally, she screamed. When the conversation got deeper, she still couldn't help but to smile. There was a place and time to be serious. Now was not. At least, not in the beautiful garden surrounding her, creating a sort of equanimity that she couldn't quite explain. Positivity breeds positive thoughts. "We can't achieve world peace, doggy. Oh, how I wish. Then everyone can drink without worries and be happy for the rest of their lives! But maybe we can start here, in Salicia." She was saying, pointing her forefinger up.

The dog's behavior made her feel calm. She couldn't resist the urge to pat him on the head, standing up reluctantly so. "Well! I don't know about you, but I'm quite hungry and er, thirsty. Do you drink? Ah, it doesn't matter. It's celebration time! The Queen shouldn't be kept waiting!" With this, Everet skipped off, assuming the dog would follow. In her path, she noticed a few familiar faces-- and some new-- but went on ahead.

(Figured we should probably get on with the banquet already xD )

The Grand Royal Ballroom

Guests filled up the room. Song and dance rang vibrantly, entangled with chatter and laughter. The Queen herself walked among the guests with unspeakable elegance. The other Duelists were scattered across the entire ballroom. Sirius and the Advisor ran into each other as they walked. "Look who's here," the Advisor said. "You thought I wouldn't show up?" Sirius asked. "No.. I just figured you'd be busy," the Advisor responded. Sirius then fell silent. Sharra was having a conversation with the two brothers. The rest of the duelists, were scattered elsewhere. Sirius suddenly bumped into the Queen. "Oh pardon me, my lady," Sirius apologized. "Oh its quite alright. But... if it isn't too much. Would you like to take my hand for a dance?" the Queen asked. Sirius blinked. No doubt he was blushing under his black masquerade, with likewise colored feathers poking from it. Hesitantly, Sirius agreed. The two walked to the dance floor and began waltzing to the music.

Aisha wasn't one for wearing dresses so she certainly wasn't enjoying the sleek black velvet she was encased in. She scowled at the ceiling leaning against the back wall of the ball room, her face embezzled in a black lace mask she sighed straightening up to watch the dancers with sharp focused eyes. She bit her lip watching the people dance and have fun, rolling her eyes she grunted folding her arms over her chest she thought with distaste this is far too extravagant for my taste.

The scent of food has led her to victory!

The moment that Sera had managed to find the ballroom, she came close to hugging the door or something like that. After a long while of wandering, she had finally managed to arrive to the party; seemingly before quite a few others as well. Which was weird, but she went with it. Drawing in a deep breath, the girl smiled. This sort of atmosphere was new to her, but she had yet to find it boring. Sera was still at the early stage of seeing such an event as a new sort of adventure. And, until something proved her to be wrong in this mindset, she would stubbornly stick with it.

Stumbling a bit as she stepped on her skirt again, the Dragon Master entered the ballroom, and looked around with curious eyes.

(Don't mind me, thread just looked a little dead)

The clacking of heels sounded against the ballroom floor. Everet skipped around the pristine room, grabbing what food she could and admiring the swaying bodies around her. They moved in such perfect harmony and elegance. She could only admire from afar, plopping another grape into her mouth. The Queen was one of those people- meant to be admired from afar. But clearly that wasn't the case, because she was now dancing with an unknown figure with a mask. The music seemed to intesify.

Though Everet noticed, however, the familiar red-head enter the room. With a subtle wave, Everet smiled- now beckoning the girl over. Such pretty red hair! She cooed, clearly not trying to mask her obvious fascination with the red head.

For awhile, the girl just watched everyone else; observing their movements while they danced. She was certain that she would fail horribly if she tried it herself, but it was still interesting to watch. It took a good couple of minutes, but Sera eventually turned her attention back to the very thing that had allowed her to find this place: Food. She wasn't starving, but a little snack or two definitely wouldn't hurt.

Making her way over to the tables where the food was laid out, her gaze snapped toward a familiar being. It was the pink haired woman from earlier; one of the people that had fought the stone soldiers. While her appearance wasn't all that surprising, seeing as though everyone in the fight was supposed to be in this very room, it was still interesting to see her; more or less because she seemed to be trying to catch Sera's attention.

With a small shrug, the redhead went with it. Making a friend or two during their adventure wouldn't be such a bad thing. She waved back, and more or less tripped herself over to where Everet stood.

Stupid dresses...

Kheal had been waiting for a while, planning how to get into the banquet room, but there was no hope, he couldn't not be noticed. He listened to the quiet background music and chatter, "the ballroom." he muttered excitedly, before quickly running in the direction, there seemed to be fewer guards around wherever Kheal was, so it was easy to slip by until he quickly emerged into the ballroom.

Kheal looked around awkwardly, hoping nobody had noticed him, without hesitation he sprinted into the sea of moving legs, hearing a few surprised "oh!"s as he brushed against them. From here he now had time to look around and find his prize, when there weren't legs in the way. eventually, he saw it, the food table. He attempted to walk formally over to the table, trying to seem as if he belonged here, he probably looked like an idiot. He began to carefully scan the foods, mostly taking the meats, and quickly eating them, he was indeed hungry.

Alisha's dark eyes scanned the room slightly straightening at the sound of the disturbance. Her pursed her lips watching Kheal ravage the banquet. She rolled her eyes and returned to leaning against the wall, glancing over from time to time.

Whilst he was eating, Kheal had noticed a woman notice him, but she hadn't reacted. Kheal felt safer to know now that people didn't care about him. He finally finished eating and wondered what to do now, he was stuck in the middle of a royal ball, an unintelligent human-fox with no friends or familly or job. He stood and watched idly, hoping something would happen to him, he'd rather be caught and have something to fight for than just be stuck with nothing.

Kheal thought hard over why she haf rolled her eyes at him, he frowned in confusion, staring at her. Was it because she just thought of him as an animal, desperate for food? He had been forced into his situation, because people had treated him like that. He stood awkwardly, maybe it would be better to speak to her, but he was too shy for that.

Looking back up at the ceiling she sighed softly. Feeling eyes in herself she looked back at him scowling slightly her eyes a dark shade of almost black, straightening she folded her arms over her chest looking at him as if to say what? Pursing her lips she again rolled her eyes and turned her head away with a curtain fall of hair.

She looked back at the dancers and approched them slipping into the crowed and dodging her away through the people around her.

Kheal's eyes widened when she scowled at him, probably just because he was a beast, now he really didn't feel like trying to talk, but maybe he had to. After gathering his will, he reluctantly walked towards her, stopping by her feet. "Um....hello..." He quickly looked down.

She stopped turning her head to look at him, sucking on the inside of her cheek, "hello?" She looked at him with a raised eyebrows. Tilting her head to the left slightly she looked over the ginger fur covering his body, her actions didn't come across as cold but they did however come across as odd or even harsh. Although that isn't because he is a beast it's just her reaction to others as a whole.

The Grand Royal Ballroom

Queen Mariavé smiled pleasantly. "You dance well, Sirius. Makes me believe you had a beautiful woman to practice with," she said. Sirius stayed quiet. "Yes, I did. Once upon a time..." He said, trailing off. The Queen and Sirius swayed to the music. Sharra meanwhile spotted to fox-like figure devouring the food, several guests watching in awe and shock. "Excuse me! Who invited you?" She demanded, rudely. (@Gilgog) The Queen spotted the situation and chuckled. She knew he was a harmless guest and besides, everyone was invited. It wasn't limited to the rich or wealthy. "So," Sirius spoke. "Hm?" the Queen asked. "Are you enjoying the party?" He asked her. "Of course," she said, softly. The Queen looked around at the others around them and smiled. "I'd say it is going quite well," she said. Sirius smiled as well. "It definitely shows that all is well. That there is peace," Sirius said. The Queen nodded. "It is sad to think that this peace would only eventually come to an end," he continued. The Queen continued observing the guests around them. "It is our duty to protect them. Don't you agree?" The Queen simply nodded. "What is this about, Sirius?" The Queen asked, her expression hardening. "Don't you understand? We are all doomed for despair. This world is fated for darkness," Sirius said, his grip on the Queen's hand tightened. Queen Mariavé noticed and suddenly became alert. "What are you trying to say?" she asked, coldly. "That I can't protect my people?" The Queen asked. Sirius let go of her and the Queen gasped. The Advisor stood behind her, a blade tip pressed into her back. The dagger sank into the skin gently, the poison seeping into her body. "What is the meaning of this?!" The Queen demanded. "No... You can't protect your people. For you are already too late," the Advisor said, his plain white mask glaring at her as she staggered. The poison coursed through her blood. "We, on the other hand, will lead this world to its height. An era of eternal peace," the Advisor told the Queen just as she blacked out and fell to the floor.

She turned her head away from the fix scanning the crowed again with dark eyes, the sound of a struggle reaching her ears, "Nevermind, it's not important." Pushing her way past Kheal she vanished off into the crowd following the pungent smell of poison and awkward shuffling. Then there was a scream from one of the guests and the people parted like the Dead Sea did for Moses. Her eyes fell in the Queen and her limp blacked out body on the floor, slowly she lifted her eyes to look at the adviser.

Kheal froze when Sharra questioned him. "I............" He whimpered quietly "i was hungry and couldn't get a job because everyone treats me like an animal, that's why they're staring at me, because I'm different, i just wanted to find something to do, and eat."

Kheal jumped as the queen blacked out and just looked at her, then up at Sharra.

Everet watched with amusement as the red-head continued tripping. They could be sisters. The best of friends...with the perfect hair. Being eccentric as always, she grabbed the girls hands, shaking them excitedly. Senpai would be proud, she was making more friends with actual human beings...! More or less. She couldn't forget about the dog in the garden. "Hi there, I'm Everet!" She sang, leaning in closer to the girl. "You're not all human, are you...? That's okay! I still want to be your friend. I...I love your hair. Um, yeah..." Awkwardly, she let go, laughing nervously. I need a drink. With that thought, Everet wandered to a nearby table, grabbing whatever looked delectable. And alcoholic. When she finally found something, she returned to the red-head, presenting a glass of wine. "We should drink together!" Raising her glass, Everet gasped. The glass of wine fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. The music seemed to stop, or perhaps it was time itself. Something had happened to the Queen. Gasps surrounded the room.

Quickly, she reached for the dagger underneath her dress. "Looks like party time... is over." With a pout, Everet glanced at the red-head, and then to others that seemed out of place. There was a fox, and a women with a dark aura. Hopefully there were others that were willing to help. The Queen was of utmost importance, and saving her was the number one priority. Everet ran, pushing through crowds of people, eager to reach the Queen before anything else happened.

The Grand Royal Ballroom

Sharra turned, shocked by what had just unfolded. "Nevermind you," she said, storming over. Then she broke out into a sprint right towards the Advisor. Suddenly, Sharra slipped and fell as the carpet beneath her was just pulled from her feet. "Hehe what do you think you're doing?" A voice said. It was Sercus. Then a blade was pressed to his back. "Move and I'll slice you in half," another voice said. It was Clarice, another Duelist. She was much more elegant, adorned in elaborately decorated armor. Her short brown hair fell smoothly barely past the start of her neck. <p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_01/e9c2a66a5189e04d621818fb12a81a82.jpg.0cd1f0774d51c58e2a8c10fe086bf169.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="97171" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_01/e9c2a66a5189e04d621818fb12a81a82.jpg.0cd1f0774d51c58e2a8c10fe086bf169.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

"Oh aren't you fiesty," Sercus said with a dirty smirk. Another blade was now behind Clarise. Sercus' brother, Polorus, stood there, silently. "I doubt you'd risk such a move. I suppose it'd be a test in speed. Try me," he said. Clarise grit her teeth. "You bastard.." Sharra stood up. "What have you done to the Queen?" She demanded, unseathing her broadsword but Sirius stood in her way, his own rapier drawn and pointed at Sharra. The Advisor didn't answer, only picking up the Queen and placing a blade to her neck. "Pressa... I know you're up there. I suggest you don't try anything or the Queen is to pay," he said. Pressa was the last of the six Duelists. It was her, Sharra, Clarise, the brothers, and Sirius. Pressa descended from the ceiling gracefully without a word. She was the most elusive and silent of the Duelists. Much more oriented towards ambush and precision in her swordsmanship. <p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_01/ff34f515fa4a274134c1c1d9fdff90a3.jpg.75c35da9444fb9589df66985ef70c7d5.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="97173" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_01/ff34f515fa4a274134c1c1d9fdff90a3.jpg.75c35da9444fb9589df66985ef70c7d5.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

But this time she spoke. "Why are you doing this? Why do you betray your own kingdom?" She asked. Sercus laughed. The Advisor held a hand up to silence him. He turned to her, keeping the blade to the Queen's neck as they were all still in a standoff. "Betray? I've done nothing of the sort. I am saving our kingdom from certain doom. Don't you realize that if we don't do anything about the beasts of the East, we will be destroyed?" The Advisor said. "That is precisely why the Queen selected the-" the Advisor interrupted Pressa midsentence. "Oh please, those pathetic wannabes that can hardly defeat a gang of mere statues? How do you think they'd fare again HIM? The real Advisor? Something of that magnitude requires all-out war," he said. After that everyone fell silent. "You will never get away with this," Sharra said, through gritted teeth. "You can't stop me," the Advisor said, plainly, and without emotion. "We are the new rulers of Salicia and we will be the heroes that saved the world," he finished. "And we will start with disposing of the Queen."

Her eyes where dark as she watched silently, reaching into her boot under the dress she pulled out a short staff. Sliding the device apart she elegantly spin the two new blades, "hey, Sercus," she arched her back dark eyes flashing a crimson red, "what are you doing?!" She hisses through deathly sharp teeth, "do you have no modesty?"
