Fantasy The Darkened Skies

Castle of Heaven, Salicia

The Queen turned to her daughter. "You should start getting ready for the banquet dear. Please look as presentable as you can. I'll be doing the same," she said, before walking off, four guards accompanying her.

Elsewhere in the castle. Unknown hands opened a vial and smelled it. "Yup, it's fresh. Enough poison to kill a hundred men," the voice said. "Enough to kill the queen?" Another asked. "Of course not.. it'll knock her out though. In that time we can make quick work of the others, including her 'champions'," a third voice responded. "Psh," a fourth voice intruded, "I'll give them credit for their expertise in defeating Sercus' toys but there's no way they can face us in battle. They pale in comparison to our power." "At last, this banquet would be the perfect time to make our move. This time, we'll take the Salician throne for ourselves and forge an empire. These petty heroes can do nothing without the Queen's protection. It'll be quite simple to get our grip after the Queen is killed," one of them said. "Do you think we'll finish her off in time? Her spirit and body is so strong she'd take a while to fully destroy," another said. "Please.. as if we were on the clock. That poison will give us plenty of time to finish her. Who could possible defeat us?" "Well then in that case... let's go." "Wait.." "What?" "And the other Duelists?" "I'll handle them." "Very well... see you at the banquet." With that, all four of them moved on.

I waited and waited, thinking. What would I say? I wasN't sure how she felt about me. When we were kids, Aetra used to follow me around all the time, always nagging me to teach her something new or to play with her. But after what happened to her...after my in action in face of the injustice she faced...she might have a grudge Agaibst me. And could I really really blame her? Her own older brother, who she so dearly looked up to, had chosen the order over her...

My thoughts were interrupted by the newcomer. The aura he gave was unfamiliar, but recongizable. It was weak, suggesting he was only a half-breed. But with my powers, you couldn't keep such a fact hidden from me.

"It's hot inside your body too, I don't you taking it off. And uNlike my armor's heat, that headache you must have is utterly useless." I commented, leanning on my chair "Pseudologos. Well, you're only half one, right? I can tell. Don't try to fool me. Ever. "

Everet was walking at a slow pace, but gradually grew faster. The guard could hardly keep up with her, but she didn't turn around. It seemed like she was gaining quite the undesirable reputation. The stalker guy probably still thought of her as a child abuser. The boy tripped on a banana peel, for peats sake! With a sigh, Everet slammed the door to her room, leaving the guard mid-sentence. She scanned the room. First things first, she had to clean up. With the water running, she washed her face, making sure to clean the wound and bandage it properly. There was a few dust particles still in her eyes, so she had to blink and rub vigorously. Other than that, she pinned her hair up. Mission start.

There was a black dress on her bed. "How quaint." Everet muttered, but nonetheless slipped it on. As she walked toward the door, the remaining stone fragments scattered along the floor, and probably the hall too. Oops. At least now she looked like a regular girl again. Thoughts of shifting into one of the guards crossed her mind. But would I get in trouble for impersonating a guard? And then she tilted her head. Well, no. Not if I don't get caught. She opened the door ajar, grinning like a child. The guard was gone, but probably nearby.

Tiptoeing, she became a ninja of sorts, a shadow throughout the halls. Hiding behind walls, rolling...whenever a guard heard something peculiar, she threw one of the stone fragments she'd picked up, averting the guards attention. This was probably not even necessary, for if she simply asked to go see the garden, they'd allow it. But what was the fun in that?

So, when she stumbled upon it, Everet immediately felt at home. It was the place her mother first met her father, well, it wasn't as bountiful as the castle's garden, but close. She found a comfortable spot within the flowers, curling up in a ball, and ultimately- falling asleep. It was better than the alley from earlier.

I walked out awkwardly, the dress fit so well but was not very suited for walking around like I normally do, so I forced myself to look straight ahead and stand tall. Ihe heels that came with it weren't helping either, they clicked through the entire castle and made me aware of every step I took. He told me to meet him in his room first, so i started towards the hallway he left through and followed his aura down the dark way. What would i say? nothing was his fault of course, he was just a teenager and i realize that now, but he could have prevented them from banishing a 5 year old for gods sake. I shivered in a cold sweat as my hand reached for the door handle. I opened it slowly only to realize he wasnt alone, the man from earlier was sitting there. He was experiencing the pain even when I wasnt there. It was caused by glorians. My brother stood abruptly when I looked at him

"Hello, Gaudus." I said, in the warmest tone I could muster.

To my surprise, the warrior wartior ignored me and kept walking towards a room, followed by a guard. I sneaked on the two of them, trying to figure what was going on, and only caught a glimpse of the bits of rock shattering before the door was closed.

Who came out was a girl in a long black dress. I was seriously impressed...That girl was gorgeous!

But still, a tad suspicious.

I kept my distance as I followed her around. Occasionally she'd stop and I stopped as well, reaching to my back to feel the weapons I had retrieved upon my brief stay in my room. They made feel safe and pround and ready for anything that might come.

At last we arrived at what seemed to be the girl's destination: the garden. I watched, hidden, as the girl curled up within the flowers and fell asleep. I yawned At that point. Maybe a little nap wouldn't be so bad?

I walked over to the girl. Even asleep, she was gorgeous. Especially eight eh flowers all around her. I imagined the two of us running side by side in a field of them, laughing, then bumping into one another by accident and falling to the ground, rolling, then hugging each other as we sat on the grease still laughing and she'd pet me...

I slapped myself to wake myself up. Although, thinking about jt, I was about to try and do the opposite.

I lied down to the girl, with my arms beneath my head and closed my eyes, hoping to take a nap.

"Sis..." I uttered, standing abruptly. I looked to the ground, ashamed. Immediately, there was an awkward silence. Usually, epople would ask each other how they have been doing...but We knew, and it wasn't the usual answer. "I...I'm so..."

At that point, I recalled something. I turned my head up and looked at the pseudogolos.

"Leave us. We need to talk. And you probably don't want to be around us anyway. Didn't you find a friend or something? Why don't you go and play with that dragon summoning girl, or the even that other dragon master girl?" I suggested.

I waited for him to leave.

"How feisty", he chuckled. Ellias wasn't surprised with the glorian's hostile response. Although the war with the two races were long over, the tension between the two still exists. A glorian muttering curses at him isn't a new thing. "But don't worry", he grinned. "Despite how I look, I'm very disciplined in using my powers. Most of the time, at least. But that's more discipline than my other kin. Just don't tell the others, ok? If word got out, it'll be bad for my line of work".

The hammering sensation increased as the second glorian arrived. "You're siblings?", he laughed. Their personalities were so different, you wouldn't be able to tell that they're related. The armored glorian mentioned something about Ellias not wanting to be around them anyway. "Hey, if we're gonna stick around for a long time we'll need to get used to being around each other. But alright, I'll leave you two to catch up. See you around, fellow 'champion'". Before leaving, he turned to the female glorian. "Nice dress", he said then wandered around the castle.

Daren

His room itself was a lot flashier than what he had ever seen. Then again, the fanciest setting that he had ever been in was an inn. Even so, just stepping through the door was an adventure all on its own; and one that he was happy to have experienced. Daren ended up just placing his few belongings at the foot of the rather large bed, not knowing where else to put them for the time being.

The clothes that had been set out for him --which he was grateful for because his own garbs were kind of... not fancy at all-- were simple, yet formal. They weren't anything too flashy, which the teenager was happy about. However, they were still enough to pass him off as a non-street urchin.

Quickly changing into said clothing, and cleaning himself up a bit, Daren deemed himself ready to go. Well, as ready as someone like him could be, at least. Still, he didn't want to leave one small component behind. Even though it would probably be safer in his room, the boy decided to take his beloved book with him. Slipping it into a pocket that lined the inside of the coat he was given, he took a deep breath. It would probably be a bit disrespectful to bring any sort of weapon to the banquet, but he really didn't want to risk anything happening to the thing.

The brunette stepped out of his room, closing the door quietly behind him. Even though he probably needed a guard of some sort to travel anywhere within the castle's limits, he more or less knew where to go. So, Daren just decided to make his way there without any assistance.

It was a bit surprising when someone had just popped up and approached him. But, the shock factor had kind of been reduced when it ended up to be the youngest person that had been in the fight. At the very least, it was good to know that she was okay. Flashing a smile in the girl's direction, Daren nodded. "Mhm, I was there. Everyone's fine, and we won without a hitch!" Okay, that last part was a little bit of a stretch. Many of them had been injured, but at least no one had died.

Sera

New sword? New sword. Something that was 100% worth anything that got burned in the process.

'Leo, dude. Give me power, now.' Sera wasn't exactly sure what she was expecting. Maybe some random surge of energy where she would be able to go full-on dragon mode? Or even half dragon mode? Something that allowed her to barely fulfill her friend's request? Unfortunately, nothing like that happened. Hell, the dumb dragon spirit didn't even respond to her. He just kind of...stayed silent. Maybe even secretly rolled his eyes or something a the random request. (Just kind of imagining that the dragon's still kind of have a conscience inside of their Masters... Don't mind me)

Defeated, the redhead trudged toward her assigned room. She didn't really pay attention to anything inside. Well, except for the ridiculous costume that had been laid out for her. Here's one thing that Sera absolutely loathed about dresses. Most of the time, they weren't practical in battle at all. They were either too tight, too long; and were always at risk of getting caught on something. While she probably wouldn't have to fight any more battles tonight, she really didn't want to be wearing something like this if the opportunity actually popped up.

Don't get her wrong, the dress was beautiful. The cloth was a bright red, and had a golden trim. Although, the length of the skirt bit kind of ticked her off. While she probably wouldn't trip over it while walking, there was always the possibility that such a thing could happen. Besides, there was nowhere to store her swords! Not without using her own, ragged belt as a means to do so. And she was pretty sure that she would get yelled at or something, after whichever servants went through the trouble of laying it out for her.

In the end, after much hesitation, Sera decided to go without the larger weapons. But, she still kind of slipped a dagger into her sleeve. Just in case something happened.

There was no sense of time. No sense of duty or responsibility. Just peace, and alcohol. And Everet's dream, which consisted of these two things. But something was off. She couldn't quite place her finger on it-- so naturally she ignored the feeling. It could've been the fact that a complete stranger was laying next to her, or the fact said stranger had dog ears that demanded to be touched. The pink-head wasn't sure when she opened her eyes, or even if she was still dreaming. Pulling a strand of hair behind her ear, she opened her mouth to speak, a sound similar to a bird chirping in the morning; "Oh, hello. Um... who're you?" Her voice was but a whisper, but she made sure to make her presence known. So she did the most sensible thing and poked his ear. Repeatedly.

In response to the pseudogolos, I just glared at him. Of course, if he tried anything on someone he wasn't suppose to, I'd be right there to send his head back to whatever pit it crawled out of. But I wouldn't tell anyone about it as of yet. The people working for the queen had proven to be sneaky, trecherous, unpredictable...There were heavy odds that there was a traitor on our group or there would be. In the very least, someone who was there to keep an eye on us for the queen. If we figured out who, a pseudogolos might come in handy, despicable creatures as they were.

As he left, the silence of an even more trecherous past filled the room again. I prepared my mouth to apologize again, but the words just wouldn't come out anymore. What could a mere apology mean, the yhe face of all the years she had to through away from her kin? And I who had been blond to our parent's schemes and senseless arrogance.

"Indeed, where should we even begin..." I muttered, then raised my gaze to my sister. "Aetra. You've, well ,grown! I mean, that's obvious, it's been years but...you know...Do you still hum...have that "problem" with your powers? The healing was never something you especially liked doing. Touching someone's soul..."

I was having a beautiful dream about my return to the tribe, with every girl coming to be my mate while men rotted with envy when...Ok, TECHNICALLY I wasn't asleep yet, so it was more of a "daydream" than a "dream", but nevertheless it was quite pleasant and comfortable, when I heard the questions of the girl next to me. Without opening my eyes, I opened my mouth to reply, but before I could I felt a tickling sensation on my ears. And again. And again. Before I knew, I was rolling on my my helping laughing.

"Stop that! C'mon!" I complained and got away from her, still chuckling. I waited for a moment for myself to calm down, pressing my hand against my chest. "I'm J...Actually, the it's second I say this today, but you don't want to know my name. It's though to pronounce, let's leave it at that. Just call me whatever you want."

I cleaned the dirt of myself for a second, before recalling there was no point to that. I signed, then sat down amongst the flowers again.

"Actually, I could ask you the same question. Who are you? I don't mean your name, though I'd like to know that too. I mean WHO are you...It's the first time I see a human with such talent for shapeshifting, assuming the fact I almost attacked you wasn't due to some petty illusion spell. It makes me wonder how they even found you to give you that letter."

"I..see..." I retorted, looking away. Well, he sure didn't seem talkative. Even just A LITTLE detail would have been appreciated! Not that it was that uncommon. Strangers tended to treat her like a lost puppy and those that knew her tended to treat her like a blood-sucking demon...Between the two, the first was preferable, in spite of everything. Still, it wasn't like either earned me much trust from those around me.

As such, I would need to push the conversation myself.

"S-so...why are we all dressed like this? And...hum...your name is?" I inquired.

at that point, I saw someone else coming along. The rum guy. There was something more I wanted to remmember about him, but mind couldn't quite grasp what. Maybe I'd remember what if I talked to him. Besides, I needed to thank him. Even if we were allies by force, it was still inquestionable that he had protected me the whole battle.

"Hey! Over here!" I called, waving at him.

Seeing the man's reaction, Everet's eyes twinkled. She crawled over to him, like a feline, disregarding the fact she was wearing a dress. The dagger attached to her thigh revealed itself, but she didn't care. Really, there was still dry slobber down her mouth upon waking up. "Doggy!" She cried, reaching over to now rub both of his ears. "I shall call you doggy, and you shall be mine!" She sang, and when the dog asked about who she was, her hands fell on her lap. "Mm. I'm no one special. I don't have a lick of potential in me. Sometimes I wonder, what was the Queen thinking...?" This she said in a hushed tone, placing her finger to her lips-- as if indicating a secret or something.

She began crawling over to me like one of those cat woman from the tribe next to mine. I looked at her confused, until she announcced she was gonna call me "doggy".

"Wh-what?" I asked her, but then she reached out to rub my ears again. I needed to think.

So, to recap: I gad followed a gorgeous woman to a garden, laid to sleep next to her, when I woke up, she poking my ears, then I told her she could call me what she wanted, then she had crawled to me in a I rather...let's say "womenly" manner and told she'd make me her dog and proceeded to pet me. I punched my own leg, cause this was a dream, FOR SURE.

To my surprise, it didn't vanish. I chuckled, a little nervous. Well, it would EVENTUALLy happen, that I knew, but I wasn't expecting it to happen THIS quickly. I mean, we hadn't even set out on the adventure yet! I wasn't sure if I should be suspicious and worried or pleased and proud.

Another thing my punch revelaed was the weird truth that my tong tong was out, my smile was wide and my tail was wiggling as the woman rubbed my ears. I immediately recovered my posture, putting back my tong and pulling away my smile, though I wasn't able to stop my tail from flapping, even as I blushed lightly.

"I...I...." I wasn't sure what to reply to that request or statement of hers, that she'd make me "hers". Her "doggy". Fortunately to me, she moved to another topic. "Well, I also think so, about the queen, though for different reasons. She called us so secretly...So, well, without providing any explanations prior. Something smells here...Though, that part is obvious. The answer clearly isn't and I am a bit inclined to suspect of her further "invitations". Still, I doubt she'd be dumb enough to try anything at the banquet. People from the cities have reputations to keep or whatnot, most of the time."

@kokochii

"I still have it. But what am I to do when the people around me are hurt?" I reply slightly. Afraid to sit or stand, the situation being so different. "Mom and dad have given me a chance to come back home if I earn my black wings, but I didn't realize it was only because they didn't have an heir anymore. This changes a lot. What even happened to you, Why'd you come here? And what off your beautiful wings I envied so much?" i looked around for something to look at other than him, this could be either the worse day of my life or the best day.

I reached out a hand to her as she inquired about shet was supposed to do. Indeed, that was still my little sister, that sweet little cupid Aetra.

My hand lowered itself, though. She was also still in pain. More than before even. More worried on all sides. What right did I have to comfort her? But sti, was that not my duty as well? yes, but I would not touch her unless she asked. THAT right I had lost long ago.

"Don't worry. I'll male sure to lightne such a burden and avoid that anyone in our group gets hurt." I took a step back as she mentioned my wings and my parents having called her.

So, the heavens had betrayed me? They had casted me out due to scars of battle? No, I couldn't think that way. It was MY fault. True, I had completed my task, but I had failed at keeping myself ready for future ones by getting injured beyond immediate repair. It was I who was unworthy if standing before my fellow blackwings. I looked down to the ground in shame. "My wings are...still regrowing. I beleive that answers the rest of your questions as well. I fell the day I lost them and since then was not allowed to rise again. I received a letter, just like you, I suspect , calling me to this castle, not two weeks ago. Up until then, I had been living in the city of the one that rescued me, working for him and awaiting...awaiting..."

I wasn't able to finish my sentence. I had waited, prayed every day to be called back to the heavens. But the news my sister gave me proved this was not a problem in communication, and hinted at something I should have known long ago: I was not gonna be allowed back. Ever.

I clenched my fists. I wanted to...do some things, things unfitting of a warrior of my former status. But I controlled myself, I had to be strong. My sister had the chance to go home. My little sister...I needed to protect her, to keep her safe. And to do that, I couldn't let her compassion target me or she might end up losing her one chance to go back to the glorious place she had earned to be in..that she had deserved to come back to.

Ellias wandered around the castle, allowing the various artifacts and paintings occupy his thoughts. That painting costs 5 spheres in the black market, he estimated, those sculptures would cost 3. Then he found the entrance to the garden. And those flowers are priceless! He looked at them to take in their beauty individually. It reminded him of his mother who liked to plant flowers back then. His gaze fell on the two people lying on the floor. The female lovingly called him 'his doggy' and the male beast seemed to enjoy it. He was about to back away, unsure of what to make of this scenario, when he stepped on a branch. The branch cracked loud enough for them to hear. "...Was I interupting?", he awkwardly said. "Imma just... yeah, I'll just go", he gestured away from the garden then decided to leave.

He wandered a bit more when someone called his attention. It was the girl he fought alongside with in the grand hall. "Hey kid!", he ran towards her and ruffled her hair. "You did great today. Oh, and nice dress. You finally look like a girl", he jested.

Daren

Shoving his hands into his pockets, Daren shrugged. In all honesty, he was still half convinced that this was all some sort of dream; or that everything was just a magical hallucination. "After we took down the last statue, the Queen mentioned that we would be celebrating with a banquet of some sort. And as for the clothes... I think that we're supposed to be all formal-like for it? Maybe she just kind of assumed that none of us brought anything appropriate for a royal-level party or something. I dunno." Pulling one hand free, he offered a little wave. "Anyways, I'm Daren. Nice to meet'ya!"

Nailed it.

Before he knew it, another person had joined the conversation. He shouldn't have been surprised, a majority of people had made a friend or acquaintence of some sort during the battle. It was only a matter of time before they started to group up again. Even so, he just kind of remained silent; not sure what to say in his current situation anyways.

@Idea @Alias

Sera

She was lost. Very lost.

While out in the woods, or somewhere else that was located in the middle of nowhere, her internal compass was one of the best. She could easily find shelter, or maybe even a nearby village without a map of any sort. You could throw her in the middle of the desert, blindfold her, spin her around for an hour and, after she was finished puking because of all of the goddamn spinning, Sera would still be able to find her destination. However, once inside of civilization, she was practically hopeless.

And apparently the interior of a freaking castle was no exception to that rule. The girl began to get a bit annoyed, at this point. All she wanted was food, that was it. There was no need to spoil her with alcohol, or mountains of desserts. Just, food. In general! Anything, even some really thin soup, would do. But no, she just had to get lost. Finding her way back would be stupidly difficult. Hell, finding someone else was probably going to be a challenge. The building was so big, that the redhead could very well be stuck in there for weeks without being found!

Grumbling a very creative string of swears under her breath, Sera continued to push forward.

(Lyra's POV: )

"A banquet? That sounds awesome!" I licked my lips. My only worry was that I wasn't sure that I could handle eating like I was suppose to at a banquet. WHen was the last time I had had a proper meal again? The "Rowdy Thomas" was it not? A relatively polite and friendly place, but the people would always stare a lot. A little too much. Speaking of which, my eyed turned down to my clothes as he mentioned formal clothing, and I understood just how ridiculous I reapply looked in a frilly pink dress. Even if I hated the mental picture people who were horrified of me had of me, I still think this was a little too far. Besides, it made no sense. "But it's a banquet, right? You eat in them, a lot, right? Then why would you bring formal clothes when you're going to EAT? They'll just get dirty..."

The man introduced himself and I returned his little wave.

"I'm Lyra. Nice to meet you too. You're human right? It's the first time I see this many human fighters gathered in one place, well, of your quality anyway..." I greeted, looking away with a tiny blush.

Then the rum guy came along. I smiled and waved at him more and was about to greet him and thank him for the compliment when he mentioned my dress.

So it DID stick out as I thought.

"I...uh...eeep!" I screamed and got on my knees, burying my face in my hands "Don't look!"

"Yeah, might as well tell me not to breath", Ellias joked and gave a hearty laugh. "C'mon, you look great kid! If you're gonna stick out like a sore thumb, then atleast you're a good-looking thumb. Also, I don't think I can keep calling you kid. Do you have a name?". He looked up and noticed someone else was there. He recognizes him and greets him. "Hey, you were in the hall too right? I'm Ellias", he said and extended his hand. "Y'know, the guy with the bloody face? ha ha!", he laughed loudly then stopped as if he realized something. I didn't get it. Why wasn't working? Whenever I'd cover my eyes and tell daddy not to look, he'd turn away or even walk out of the room. But this guy was looking at me EVEN MORE. I could feel heat and almost dizziness as my face turned red as a fire dragon bathing in his victim's blood.

Frozen as I was, in that position, I did not immediately reply to his question. Instead, I waited as he introduced himself to the other man, and commented on how he was somehow "lame" in battle. I slowly turned my heads up, still not daring to look at him. A set smiled flashed in my face just for a second.

He was nice. Like, a really nice guy, right?

"L-l-Lyra. I-I'm Lyra." I stated almost in a whisper. I decided to use my father's words. "I-I-I th-think y-you w-were m-m-motherf-f@#king cool, actually. If I may say."

Somehow, it felt that I was blushing twice as much as before.

Haroth woke up from a deep slumber, he looked around and realized he was in a very different place, one he had not seen before yet looked familiar. He was panicking, Haroth jumped from the bed and stretched his wings. (I'm new and I don't know what to do so someone give me a BRIEF summary please, thanks)

Like a hawk, Everet listened to every gesture, every word of the dog man. Dogs were interesting. She preferred cats, but dogs were more playful. And so loyal. Unlike cats. Thoughts of how Senapi treated her back in the alley came to mind. That black cat would be proud of her endeavors right about now. "I think this is a great opportunity," She began, inclining her head towards the skies. Her eyes lit like stars. A smile as bright as the heavens themselves. "We get to make a difference. It might be small, it might not make much sense, but I believe destiny has great things in store for us. It's not going to be a walk in the park, that's for sure, but I'm prepared for the worst." Subconsciously, Everet was rubbing the dog's tail the entire time she was speaking. It was as if she was gaining some strange insight just from doing so.

When the branch snapped, so did her reverie. It was rum guy. Being rum guy. "Hmn." Everet said aloud, her thoughts shifting to food and booze. I wonder if the banquet has already started. Even so, she was enjoying her time in the garden. After the banquet was over, she'd definitely have to try reverting into a dog and playing with her new dog friend here.

"Woof." I barked, then covered my mouth. I had NOT intended to do that. I had sworn I wouldn't bark again until I came back. Until I was worthy of coming back. I looked down, ashamed, and realized why I had done it: she was now rubbing my tail. I pulled it away.

"Please don't rub my tail, it's a...well, rather personal part..." I explained. Not that it hadn't been pleasing, though.

I heard her words about a "chance to make a difference". I shrugged.

"Does it matter? The world ain't gonna get any better, even if somebody magically achieved world peace, people would simply be asses without making wars. That's how it always is. Still, this trip isn't ENTIRELY pointless..." I turned to her and leamed on her, a playful and devilish grin spread over my face "It might be entertaining."

I heard someone talking nearby. The person smelled weird, like if they weren't fully human, though I couldn't tell what else they were. Damm it! I should have been paying attention. My ears and tail with woth my embarassment.

"I...uh...well...let me..uhm..explain, I...uh..." I simply gagged, unable to think of something to say. My fists clenched and my teeth were about to as well.

Suddenly, I smelled something else...A bird? No...a dragon master? Maybe two? I couldn't tell for sure, I was too nervous
