Fantasy The Darkened Skies

The Grand Royal Ballroom

(@Aridis Sera)

Polorus noticed that Sera was beginning to collect power from within herself. If he'd read her profile correctly, she was a dragon master. Interesting. Polorus saw the lunge and parried the jab, using his blade to deflect the strike. But as he did so, a third blue arm sprouted from Polorus' shoulder and moved to strike down on Sera with its own separate blade. Half of the demon's face separated from Polorus' face briefly, creating a strange mixture involving a third blue eye and extra ear and nose. Throw in a small portion of the demon's mouth too, while you're at it, but all that was gone in the blink of an eye. Nonetheless, the demon was there, and it's objective was laser focused onto Sera. Destroy.

For once, Everet was paying attention to her surroundings. She took into consideration the size of the underground hall. Quite narrow, dark—besides the few lanterns. If she was being pursued—which was highly likely in her situation—then she had to act fast. There wasn't enough time to run around with the Queen without being spotted. How to even the odds? The girl knew she couldn’t stand a chance against a duelist, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t try.

First, she started with the few lanters spotted along the way. On either side of the walls were three rooms each. Everet took the one in the middle, on the right side of the wall. Juggling all the lanters and the Queen was quite the hassle. But with the light mostly gone in the hall, she wouldn’t be spotted as easily. She placed the Queen on the bed, scanning the room for anything useful. Something on the floor caught her eye, a box. Upon closer inspection, it looked like a treasure box of some sort. What laid inside was a wide array of weapons. Small, but weapons nonetheless. Throwing knives, smoke bombs, and some other unfamiliar gadgets. Were some of these guests here ninjas or something...? None of which she considered using, unless she became desperate. She had, after all, the shield and spiked club attached at her back. For all she knew, there were six rooms in total. Three on each side, and they probably had the same layout.

Instead of the bed, Everet picked up the Queen gently, placing her inside the closet and closing the door. “Stay put.” She whispered, as if the Queen had a choice. That way, if all else fails, she wouldn’t be found too quickly if said stalker decides to rampage each room. It would buy some time. But not much. With a content smile, Everet left the room, hopefully as quite as a mouse. And entered another door, a door right across from where the Queen was. There, she waited, plotting her very risky plan.

The Advisor's blade would never make contact, clashing into some unseen force that either knocked the blade aside, or knocked him back. He would see - beyond that white, nightmarish mask of his - the fleeting pulse of a vibrant blue shield in front of Aisha as it would appeared for only a moment. From behind him would be the whistle of another blade as Robin swung the Angelus diagonally across his back.

He was never really one to take on the head guy right off the bat, but there was no way in whatever god's name that he'd just allow someone else to fight him alone; besides, the girl was fighting a guy with a poisoned sword. The blonde didn't doubt her abilities, but since the Advisor was quick, there was no guarantee that Aisha would avoid injury.

Her free hand immediately raised itself to block the blow with an imaginary weapon; the real thing having been left in her room. While she could manage with one blade, she was used to two; and it appeared as though having two would come in handy in this situation. However, there was no time to regret her decision to not bring her swords, as she was now a part of a very dangerous dance. Improvising, Sera moved even closer toward her opponent; her free hand latching itself onto the demon's wrist in an attempt to give herself a window of opportunity to escape.

Slipping under the extra arm in order to get out of harm's way, she maintained her hold; only to throw a kick at the back of Polorus' knees.

"Hey?!" She swung her swords moving with unimagined speed towards The Advisor, "I can do this on my own." Aisha broke into a run jumping at the last moment and landing a boot right in his chest, knocking him back, she quickly danced away and kept her distance.

The Grand Royal Ballroom (

The Advisor sidestepped to regain his balance after an invisible force field stopped his blade. Two opponents now. This made the fight more interesting. Suddenly, a foot was planted onto his chest and he was knocked back. He planted his back foot onto the floor and regained his footing. Indeed this girl was talented in combat. But the Advisor followed her dance. Not giving her any room to back away, the Advisor stepped forward and stabbed, throwing his blade at her in an attempt to get her, before stepping forward again in a graceful manner and taking another lunge. All the while, the Advisor tracked Robin's position. The very moment he was close, Aisha would not be the target of his blade. So he danced with her alright, but his plan was to bring the fight to the healer.

Polorus was surprised when Sera grabbed ahold of his demon's hand, which tugged him. He fell to one knee when he was but decided he didn't need to counter. The demon's entire upper body now emerged from his own body and raised a fist to strike Sera. She grabbed it's hand but that same hand now held her, in an attempt to keep her from dodging the blow. The blue figure was bare, and it's eyes glow dangerously. It was intent on defeating Sera, just as much as Polorus was. A small smirk edged itself onto Polorus' face as he knelt in ease so that his demon dealt with the problem that Sera had just given him.

The Catacombs of Salicia (@kokochii)

As soon as Everette emerged from the room she placed the Queen in, Sirius practically tackled her. Moving at blinding speed, a trail of black feathers behind him, Sirius took the two of them deeper and deeper into the maze of tunnels under the castle. The tunnels became narrow and dark, lanterns were more sparse, and the walls looked visibly older, until finally they came upon an enormous room. Everette and Sirius were in the deepest portion of the catacombs under Salicia. A narrow bridge kept both of them from falling to their death. The room was in the shape of a cylinder with a high ceiling and a dark pit leading to a bottom that could not be seen. The large circular walls were covered in skulls and on one side of the thin bridge was the exit and Sirius. On the other side was Everette and the sealed doorway that led into the tomb of the first Salician King. "Welcome... to the Catacombs of Salicia. Here are buried all the past kings and queens, princes and princesses. Thousands of years of history. Beautiful isn't it? It even includes," Sirius said, elegantly, and pointing to the large sealed door behind Everette, "the resting place of our first king. You know what I like about this place? It's quiet. We will certainly have a graceful battle for the hand of the Queen. How noble of you. I really do like you. You are fair and skilled in combat, and your face displays your elegance. Your beauty doesn't betray you, for if only we were on the same side, I would have wooed you. Sadly, that isn't so. Take up your weapon, Everette, prepare yourself to duel," Sirius said, getting into a traditional Duelist stance, one hand behind his back and the thin blade in front of him. The bridge he was fighting on was, ironically enough, just as wide as a normal Duelists arena. Thin, so sidestepping was not an option. If you did so, you were but one misstep from falling off. Parry and counter. That was the style of the Duelist. There was no avoiding an attack. You were either skillful enough to deflect the blow, or you took responsibility for your lack of finesse and paid for it with a loss. Here, the cost wasn't a simple defeat, it was your life.

Aisha tracked he advisors wondering eyes with her own. Gripping both of her swords she clashed them against his in an attempt to dislodge it from his hand

Allowing the bounty hunter to attempt to disarm the Advisor, Robin lunged forward and made to slice at his side, just below easy deflecting range and without interfering with Aisha's own attacks. However, every part of him was on high alert; as it stood right now, the Angelus was just a normal sword, and he a normal swordsman. He wouldn't throw up a shield unless necessary, if he couldn't defend with his own blade.

Without needing to be told, he already knew that the Advisor was extremely capable. For the sake of not getting in Aisha's way, the blonde continued to attack from behind, maintaining a rather decent distance and changing position if need be.

The change in scenery was a bit of a shock, to say the least. Everet found the air stuck in her lungs for a moment, but forced an exhale. It wasn’t like the setting was breathtaking by any means, but down right eerie. The bridge, for one, and the dark pit. All that was missing was flames from Hell itself bursting from the ground. Let’s not jinx it, Ev. She looked at her pale hands, shaking ever so slightly. It didn’t surprise her that her previous form was gone so soon. It was probably for the best, especially since she was so light. Still, it would be difficult to compose herself on such a narrow battleground.

Standing up slowly, her eyes locked onto the target on the other side of the bridge. If she remembered correctly, wasn’t he the one dancing with the Queen earlier? Everet grimaced at his explanations, keeping her focus ahead. “Lovely,” She commented, her accent thick with sarcasm. Aware that her dagger was still strapped to her thigh, Everet turned slightly at an angle, lifting her finger to motion the duelist over. This was done in the sole intention to mock him, but maybe her ‘playful’ side was finally rearing its head. “Well, you brought me here,” She was saying, loud enough for Sirius to hear. “Why don’t you make the first move?” She winked.

I looked at the advisor that challenged me, calling me a dog.

"You know, it`s the second time they call me that today. The difference being the other was a nice girl and pe...anyway, the point is, shut up cause you look dumb there." I put my shields on my back and pulled my daggers. I clashed them together, starting a spark that set them ablaze, before grinning at the guy, and sprinting ahead, head lowered and daggers ready.

Funny, how determination worked. Even if victory was so far out of reach, it was possible to inch closer to it through just one's own stubbornness. A situation could be hopeless, but that fact could be completely ignored up until a person's last breath. And if the determination to kill one's opponent was strong enough on both sides, it could make for a very interesting and prolonged fight. Fortunately for Sera, the situation wasn't completely hopeless. She could hold her own, and still had a very large trump card in case things went south. So, for the time being, determination wasn't the deciding force.

While the skeletal being held her arm, it didn't necessarily restrict the rest of her. Although she wasn't completely free to move wherever she liked, the girl still had a range of mobility at her disposal. Dodging the blow was an almost simple task, but trying to escape was a while different matter. There were no nerves or blood vessels on the demon, so causing it pain or killing it like she would a regular creature seemed a bit out of the question.

Maneuvering around the demon, she tried to pull it's joints at strange angles; maybe even resulting in a bone or two dislocating. And, in case that didn't work, Sera stabbed into the skeleton's wrist; digging the blade into the joint that held the hand to the arm. Hopefully, her efforts would allow her to escape the other's grasp. Or...at least allow her to separate a part of it from the rest of it's body.

The Advisor felt an awkward grip settle onto his blade as they clashed and realized he was in jeopardy of being disarmed. Quickly, the Advisor stepped under the blades and threw a jab at Aisha to get her to disengage their blades. At the corner of his eye, he saw Hoki. He was still the Advisor's target, and he began devising his path to him, starting with his jab, which now placed Hoki, behind the Advisor.

Sercus laughed. "That's the spirit!" he said, commanding a chandelier to fall towards Jukk. "Go on my toys! Let's play," Sercus said, a high pitched laugh echoing through the room. That was when chairs were hurled, plates spinning like disks, and chalices were thrown in his direction. "This going to be fun!" Sercus said sadistically.

Polorus laughed. The blade sank right through the demon's hand. The demon let go and sank back into Polorus' body. Polorus turned. "Aren't spirits interesting? They can hurt you but you can't hurt it. At least not directly, but I'll let you solve that puzzle on your own," he said, walking towards Sera. Suddenly, he lunged, attempting to stab Sera. Then he leaped into the air and spun, an arm sprouting from Polorus' back swiped at Sera so that he could capitalize the two blades he had control of. If he didn't catch her, at the very least he was keeping her on her toes. Sometimes people make mistakes when they don't have enough time to think.

The Catacombs of Salicia (@kokochii)

Sirius blushed slightly at Everette's invitation and light-heartedness. Then he smiled. He walked to her slowly, before breaking into a sprint, jumping into the air and attempting to drive the blade down on Everette, a dark aura radiating off his blade. Not quite death magic but more of a side effect of the strange ability to dash, leaving black feathers behind him.

Robin continued to maintain the distance, or at least try to, eventually lifting his sword to defend should the need present itself. He was seemingly more cautious than the female bounty hunter, not taking any unnecessary actions that could jeopardize himself or Aisha, or anyone else nearby.

However, his distance seemed to keep closing. Though every part of him told him to resist, if things got too close he'd have to jump. But if he could avoid it, he would. The blonde made another lurch forward, swiping at the Advisor's back before he would step backward again.

@TheWingedCrusader @JustCallMeAimee

The sound of clashing metal echoed throughout the quiet room. Deflecting the nearly lethal attack, Everet made an attempt to push Sirius back with her own blade. Although, much of her strength had already been sapped, thanks to her earlier transformation. Shifting used up quite a lot of energy and fatigue-- but nonetheless, she couldn't stop fighting until the Queen was safe. If all else failed, there was but one safety net up her sleeve. That, however, would come in handy later. Maybe.

At least hoping he'd been pushed back a few inches, Everet aimed a kick at his abdomen, hoping it'll connect, and in that split moment, he'd lose balance. Quick and simple. Everet would be deemed a hero- having pushed a duelist off a bridge, and won. Everyone could live happily ever after, frolicking about the castle without a care in the world. The Queen would promote Everet for her heroic endeavors, Salicia would be in eternal peace once more... all would be right in the world. The end.

Okay. Okay shit. Okay damn. "Keeping her on her toes" was the understatement of the freaking year right there. As much as Sera hated to admit it, she wouldn't be able to win with just a tiny boost of power. This guy was nothing like the statues she had fought before; and it really didn't help that he had a freaking skeleton popping out of his back. Although, the one thing that only grew was how much fun she was having. The more deadly the situation became, the more excited the girl became. Call her insane, call her an adrenaline junkie, but she was enjoying every moment of this.

Smiling, she allowed the tattoo on her arm to glow even brighter; her irises now seeming to take on the appearance of burning embers. "I look forward to discovering the answer~."

Sera actually threw herself closer to the other's blade; batting it aside with her own in time to save herself from severe injury. Then, she darted to the side, seeing as though retreating backwards didn't seem to be an option at all. As much as it sucked, she needed the distance. What she needed the most was a longer weapon, but that would be more than difficult to obtain.

Drawing in a deep breath, the girl puffed out her cheeks to make as much space as possible. The familiar grainy feeling of ash filled her lungs and her mouth. All it took was one long exhale, and all of the ash was dispelled from her body. A thick cloud of the stuff appeared in front of her; trapping Polorus and his demon in temporary darkness.

Jukkreknaxter passed one of his daggers to his other hand, and pulled his shield out. He blocked or dodged most of the thrown objects, those thrown from behind him with the daggers and the ones in front with his shield.

He put his shield on the back and got his daggers back in both hands, jumping at the enemy and swinging them at him.

The Grand Royal Ballroom (

@Idea @Aridis @Hoki @JustCallMeAimee)

The Advisor sensed the attack coming from behind and suddenly lurched, his back bending in an odd way to dodge the strike. The Advisor, has now lost all interest in Aisha, and had the dark holes of his white mask where his eyes should be trained on Robin. He regained his posture and disengaged his blade from Aisha, stepping towards the boy. Then the Advisor lunged, rapidly extending his blade in an attempt to puncture his skin with its tip and destroy all hope of recovering from any injuries the others might face

Sercus cackled and ducked under the blade, using his sword as support. Sercus then commanded a chalice to fling itself straight to Jukk's man part in the hopes of creating a mock show out of him. But suppose that failed, Sercus got busy with dismantling the chandeliers in the room, keeping all the sharp parts of course. The next part of the show involved a dance with blades.

Polorus was suddenly blind to everything. Oh this girl was something. She had fight enough to stand up to him. However, if she stepped up her game, so would he. Polorus cried out, but his voice was then drowned out by the cry of the demon. It sounded like a gargled screech mixed with a lion's roar. It would take time for the smoke to clear for anyone to even see what Polorus looked like now, but the Advisor and Sercus knew. Polorus now had four arms and two heads. One head his, one head the demon's, two arms his, two arms not. Two blades, both equally as sharp, but now... Their personalities were one. A murderous looked was written all over Polorus' face, equally as hungry as the demon for blood.

The Catacombs of Salicia (@kokochii)

Sirius felt the stiffness of the blade, his attack being blocked, and then a foot to his chest, forcing him to stagger back. Sirius took a few steps back, one foot slipping, nearly forcing him to fall. Suddenly, Sirius regained his posture. Why wasn't he focused. He needed to concentrate but his heart was beating so fast. Rule number one to dueling, keep your composure. It was considered an insult to lose your cool in the middle of a duel, but Sirius wasn't losing his cool. He wasn't angry at all, but the thumping in his chest didn't stop and it was distracting. Sirius took and deep breath and began to advance on Everette, waiting for her to make a move instead of taking the initiative himself.

Sera

Sera winced at the sudden noise. On top of everything else, her senses themselves had increased; which had left her ears a bit more sensitive than normal. It wasn't enough to hinder her ability to fight, but it was a bit annoying when ridiculously loud sounds came into play. However, enhanced senses or not, it was easy to tell that whatever was going on underneath the veil of ash was not a good thing.

Before the ash could settle, and while the demonic Polorus was still unable to see, she made her attack. As silently as she could possibly be, the girl darted around the other so that she was positioned behind him. The girl could thank the more reptilian side of her dragon; since it allowed her to "see" in the dark using infrared radiation that came off of her "prey." Who, in this case, was the guy and the demon who she was trying to fight.

It was impossible to see every little detail, but the general shape and actions of Polorus were enough for her to put up an effective fight. Lunging forward, Sera tried to bury her small blade into his spine.

@TheWingedCrusader

Ah, he had been very fortunate to be born the way he was; skilled in "protecting" so to speak. Lifting his sword parallel to his body, held close and securely, it clashed with the Advisor's own blade. Sparks from the clash filled the tense air, and, for a brief moment, they almost, almost hid the faint pulse of an outward-reverberating shield of blue.

Robin shoved the Angelus outward, knocking back the poison dipped, opposing sword and let out a silent battle cry, lurching forward to swing at the masked man's torso.

The Advisor feinted back to dodge Robin's counter. A black aura began to emanate from his sword. Now the Advisor was really bent on eliminating the healer. His attacks were much more forceful, as the Advisor was intent on putting his back into it. He lunged again making a slash that might decapitate Robin if he did nothing. "Show me your best, boy, I do not pleasure everyone with such exclusive attention," he taunted, his voice calm and cool.

Polorus and the demon moved swiftly moved both blades to block Sera's attack. Then the demon slowly turned its head a full 180 degrees to face Sera. "I admire your strategy in using cover. But it'll take a bit more than that," Polorus said with a sneer. Suddenly, he turned and leaped into the air, spinning fast enough to look like a spinning top, turned sideways plus two blades and he attempted to bring those swords directly onto Sera, with such force that the impact will very well shake the room like a small earthquake had just occurred.

Perhaps it would come as a surprise, perhaps it would not; a hand dropped from the hilt of the Angelus, reaching as if to grab the Advisor's dark sword.

And the blade did stop, caught in the reverberation of a vibrant blue, pulsating shield. Keeping his hand in such a way, Robin brought back his sword in preparation to jab at the man's head.

For a moment, the blade became outlined in blue, the surface littered in tiny particles as the blade itself jumped forward with a sudden burst. The blonde wasn't exactly the killing sort, so normally he wouldn't make such a strike. However, this time his opponent was far more capable than any he had faced before; if the Angelus did make contact, it wouldn't be something too crippling.

@TheWingedCrusader

Everet could feel something was off. Her opponents focus, or lack thereof. It didn't feel right to push someone to their death when they were distracted. Even if they were an enemy. Not to mention, the fact her simple kick actually connected. She had to wonder about this duelists true power. Was he holding back? Yet, those thoughts became secondary as she wondered about the person in front of her, not the duelist.

"Are you...alright?" Everet spoke softly, genuine worry coating her words. "Are you ill? Need a drink?" Her eyes lit with enthusiasm, and of course that's all it took for her to get sidetracked. "Oh, how I would love a drink right about now!" Rambling was a skill set not many people appreciated. She stepped forward, not being mindful to the fact she was completely open for attack. The grip on her blade loosened, as if it would fall at any second. "Maybe when this is all over," she paused, her voice light with hope and maybe a little fear. "we can grab a drink together?"

The Advisor felt his sword get stuck and tried to pull it away. Suddenly, Robin's blade rush straight towards the Advisor, hardly enough time to react. He moved his head, dodging the blade narrowly. Black blood trickled down the small cut on his cheek. A finger came up to touch it. The Advisor then looked at Robin. "I'm afraid you have given me a reason to be upset," he muttered. The Advisor gripped the sword, the entire blade now completely black. "Can you dodge an explosion?" The Advisor yelled. This particular death magic only harms the person the user intends to harm. Only Robin would feel the impact of the explosion. Instant death at point blank, loss of conscious if a little farther away, severe weakening if even farther and the effects lessen until you are entirely away from the explosion. It'll take a few seconds for the Advisor fully cause the explosion. "You better run," the Advisor taunted, hauntingly.

The Catacombs of Salicia (@kokochii)

Sirius' eyes widened when he heard the suddenly soft voice of Everette. It felt like getting hit n the face with a pan... in a comforting way. STOP! She is your ENEMY! Discipline yourself, you imbecile. Sirius was now at war with himself. He swiftly, aimed the blade defensively towards her. His palms were sweaty. Sirius couldn't possibly be this much of a hopeless romantic could he? This was not the duelist he was raised to be. For gods' sake, the Advisor took him after he had lost her- That's why.... That was it. She reminded him of that person he loved. The curse... The Raven... Those black feathers were everywhere. That was the price for power. Love. Was this a second chance? Sirius couldn't ignore it but... Could he really betray the Advisor? What is this nonsense? Of course not!

"Maybe when this is all over, we can grab a drink together?"

His grip on the blade loosened. "You intend to tear me apart don't you?" Sirius muttered, unable to move.

(BACKSTORY UNLOCKED xD :D )

Damn it all... He wanted to avoid doing this if he could've helped it, but there was really no avoiding this; his gut told him that no shield - no matter the size or strength - would be able to fully protect him.

Robin gritted his teeth, holding the Advisor's cold gaze as his shoulders raised- well, all of him appeared to lift. Outlines in vibrant blue, soon the rest of him took on the same glow the Angelus had, particles appearing to make up his entire body. Before the explosion could hit, in with a flurry of blue the blond shot away, reforming a decent distance away with the light tap of his foot against the polished floors.

But he didn't avoid the range completely, body sagging with a heavy huff. Weakness wasn't fun, and it hit hard on him.. Robin's knees threatened to buckle beneath him, yet he held out, again raising the Angelus in preparation.

Unfortunately enough, while he was physically strong and held a high endurance, the jump and shields had really taken a sort of toll on the blonde; the effects of the Advisor's death magic didn't help in the slightest. However, Robin had trained himself enough to keep going.

For how long, he himself didn't even know.

Aisha silently watched the young boy with dark eyes, hands in a tight grip on the twin blades she waited for the advisors attention to be averted before attacking from behind. She swung the blades elegantly and spun around him with such speed it would knock any normal person flat on they're ass, she swept underneath him with both blade and leg, arching her back to drive her elbow into the Advisors face.
