Garret
future_trunks_by_posku-dak07pd.jpg

He laughed a little at Mason's joke but not long after he let his eyes wander throughout all of the wrecked home and destroyed buildings. He could really answer the last two questions asked of him. It looked like the tavern must've been almost the only building left nearly unscathed. As for why they had all been fighting... "I don't know. Practically everyone was wounded, some worse than others, and I never really got a chance to ask myself..." Garret took a deep breath and savored not smelling so much blood and alcohol as at the tavern.

"Alright I guess it's time for me to head back since I'm not really supposed to be out and about for a little while still. If you wanna come you can but keep in mind you're gonna be confused as hell when you get in." Garret began half-limping back to the tavern, still taking deep breaths from time to time to savor. Before he knew it, those two awful smells were back and the tavern came into view. He entered the tavern and plopped down in the seat he'd taken up before.

Kore Dair
Kore swiftly ignored what Vira had to say to her, thankfully she was led away to wreak havoc elsewhere. Good. She would just hold on to the money, she did need it.... Closing her eyes again, Kore drifted back into her half-sleeping state, until she heard the concerned voice of a very close Snow. Yelping loudly, Kore jumped out of her skin, before moaning at the pain right after.
"Oh... Snow... Ugh..", she held her side as she looked up at the girl. "Don't do that... Your power is pretty scary, Snow, and he's just... Poisoned. It'll take a while, but he'll be fine.", she kept her eyes on Snow, watching her.
The girl seemed just as innocent as usual, but... "I thought you hated your power? Why would you offer to use it and take away his free will...?", she didn't necessarily agree with Snow on her ideas about her power, but Kore was glad that her own power wasn't so... Intense.
Looking down at Ryuji, Kore sighed, and moved his head back onto her lap. It was probably more comfortable than the floor.
"Sera is getting some charcoal to mix with this vinegar stuff that we can give to him, to speed up the healing process... Don't worry, we have it sorted. You can go and rest, I think we all need it.", she gave Snow a thin smile, and kept forcing her eyes open. She didn't want to drift off again with Snow there... When she wandered off, Kore would doze again then, but for the moment she managed to keep herself awake.

Vira

"Where's the little pink-haired oddball?" Vira suddenly asked, in a calmer tone then she had the entire time. Hand wrapped around her side, she shrugged. "Just figured the little stalker was with you." She said to the panda-man. "Just a guess. Cuz you two are oddballs together around this town, trying to be weird to every single person you meet. Figured you two were connected somehow."

As if on cue, the pink-haired girl came up the stairs. "Speak of the devil. -The stalkerish devil. -The dull, passionless stalkerish devil." Vira said, staring at the girl. Listening to the newcomer, Vira felt her blood rising. She spoke as if she knew Vira.

“She think’s you're adorable panda. She doesn’t hate anyone. She’s outraged… very upset about something… from her words… treatment.”

"Hey!! Hey you little weirdo, stop it! No I don't! Yes I do! Yes.. wait, no! Well, yeah, I'm outraged because of all you annoying assholes trying to mess with me! I paid for the poisonwater, just give me that!" The darkhaired chick was clearly upset by this whole thing.

“Calm. You are feeling calm.”

"Huh?!" Vira sounded confused, hand now in this girl's. "Nu-uh!" She felt something odd. Something was beginning to mess with her head. Shaking her head, Vira tried to figure it out. She began to feel... more relaxed. That made her try to wrap her head around what was happening. Then it clicked. She was an Abnorm, like her power suggested due to the small danger waves coming from her, but this was her power. Trying to manipulate her.

“Khayn… adorable works on her. I think she would appreciate a cuddle. But not now. You all should let her have some space. She is being brave. She feels like she has to be brave… she feels… responsible. Guilt. Why do you feel guilty? Why are you so… lonely? I feel it. You are lonely… you are feeling terribly lonely.”

"Shut up! No it d-doesn't! No I wouldn't! Stop feeding him lies about me! W-wait, yeah! Space! Give me that! B-brave?" Vira narrowed her eyes, her tone calming down the more she spoke. "I.. " She made a face. "I.. I don't feel th-those things.." She glanced away, not wanting to explain her 'responsible' feelings or her feelings of guilt and the fact that she was trying to be brave.

'Ha, she seems to have you pegged down, sister!' Even Ellie seemed to be amused. Vira not so much.

"I.. I'm not lonely," Vira refuted softly, giving her hand an involuntary squeeze, rustic eyes still averted.

Nodding in agreement she still bit her lip, her eyes wide with worry and concern. “I… I do. I um… Of course I h-hate it.” She started stuttering, her hand going to Ryu’s holding it softly as he shivered, clearly ill. “But… if it helps… I mean. It… it does make them… force them t-to save me but… but it also gives them power. That could help… his healing would increase. I would be doing the right thing. I would… it would be a good thing.”

She was rationalizing. She knew it. Kore probably knew it. But still… her bloods call to do it anyways was intense. “No you’re right… I shouldn’t use it… but if he gets worse… it would be a sure thing. To save him…” Snow whispered, her hair growing paler, her eyes darkening in their color. She tore her hand away from him and breathed out slowly before meeting Kore’s eyes.

What she saw there horrified her. Kore… Kore was… she was suspicious of her. That thin smile… those questioning eyes… Kore didn’t trust her. Why should she? Snow was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Innocent on the outside and fighting a demon within. She nodded once and stood up quickly, looking away. “I’m sorry. I… I’ll leave. I know you don’t want me around. I’ll take that advice. Go get some rest.” She whispered and quickly left the tavern, wiping her eyes as tears fell.

She had been alone for so long… she knew what her powers did. The memory easily slid its way into the front of her mind as she walked around a ruined landscape… the memory of the first time she lost control.

She was chained in the barn where her town kept their meager supplies. Her parents had wasted no time selling their “Devil Child” to the WG… but the local officer said her abnormality was useless. They didn’t know yet of her blood. All they knew was her hair turned white and her eyes red and thorns grew from her. The officer was technically a human though they had genetically modified him with superior strength. So an abnorm… by blood.

Snow was sitting on her knees, her arms raised above her and her head lowered. The voice inside… no not a voice… a song, the song inside her whispered of his power over and over. It had been whispering for days. Days. Slowly… she began to laugh. To whisper back to it. The officer would have none of this. He came up to her, disregarding the thick bloody thorns that grew from her. “What in hell’s name are you on about little girl?” Snarled the man. Snow looked up slowly, her bright red eyes glowing, pulsing.

“Nothing. Just funny.”

“What?”

“You.” She snarled right back, spitting on his shoe. The officer did not like that. He grabbed her by the throat and lifted her up, about to punch her in the face… when she kicked. And though the kick held no might or force… it was enough to scratch his skin with her thorns. His eyes met hers, confused as he slowly let her down.

Snow was confused too? What was happening? You know what’s happening. Her blood sung to her, so sweet… so nice… You have your champion. Now let him save us. Snow looked at him and then at her chains. “Save me.” She whispered, he nodded and immediately began to unlock her hands from the cuffs. “I am so terribly sorry madam. I can not believe the audacity I had to treat you this way. I… I don’t know why but I feel as if I must save you now.” Snow smiled nervously, jumping up and down. Oh freedom… she could feel it.

“Stop.” A voice called out. It was the village leader, behind him more angry men… Snow whimpered which enraged the officer. He began to fight them… but he was quickly outnumbered even with his newfound strength. They locked him up beside her and stared at the girl. She looked like a demon… hair white, eyes blood red, thorns growing out of her skin. She was the image of nightmares all wrapped up in a small girl.

“So that’s your true gift ey’ child?” The man spoke in a heavy irish sounding voice. “Yer a monster… a monster that can make a man want to be yer champion. How’s it work girly?”

“I don’t know what you mean.” Snow whispered softly. The village chief kicked her hard in the stomach. “Shut up yeh stupid Wan.” Wan was the word they used for woman in her village. “Well boios… seems as if we have a new task. Find out exactly what this here girly can do. And we have another Devils Child to test her out on.”

For weeks… they pushed her and pushed her… finding out the time limit. The amount of power she could give… what happened to the song in both their heads… just how little blood she could run on. Snow knew everything about her abnormality from them… knew it didn’t work on humans unless they had abnormal blood. Knew that the more she bonded the more she wanted to bond.

At the end… Snow was almost lost to the blood lust. But the storm came and she escaped… and it was him, her late husband… who pulled her from the edge and helped her realize she needed to use her power as little as possible.

Her eyes looked up at the rubble around her. Glass cut at her bare feet. A couple yards away was a dead woman… smoke inhalation it seemed since there were no marks. She had on decent clothes and shoes… Snow bit her lip and looked at her own ragged about to come apart patched together scraps of fabric and sighed.

Coming out from behind a bolder Snow was in the new clothes, tears still on her blank dead eyes. She didn’t want to go back. How could she forget how easy it was for her to start liking her power? How could she throw away what the love of her life had given her? Snow stood in the rubble… and cried.

Mason Dagitus.

Mason sighed as he saw Garret walk off back to the Tavern
"Oi, wait for me. A taverns got to have a bard right?"
Yelled out Mason as he ran after Garret, entering the tavern, he sat down next to Garret.
"Ok, i can see what you meant by I'll be confused, because im very, very confused"
Said Mason with a nervous smile as he looked around the Tavern, He saw no girl with anger issues, which he was a bit disappointed with, but he would probably meet her at a later date.
This was all confusing Mason as he once again sang to try and calm some people down.
"Wise men say,Only fools rush in, But i cant help, Falling in love with you~"
Mason could only smile happily as he loved this song.
"Shall i stay, Would it be a sin, If i cant help, Falling in love with you~"
Mason continued to sing, not caring much if people would dislike it or not

Garret smiled a little, becoming relaxed from the singing yet again. The song which put him at ease mostly helped him ignore the nasty stench of blood and alcohol so he wasn't complaining anytime soon. Besides, Mason's voice was probably a good thing to have around with everyone hurting and drained. Something to calm everyone and something to help them smile again. The boy still felt a little awkward around so many people that he didn't really know especially since they all knew what was going on for the most part. He looked over at the nearest person aside from Mason, a skinny white haired girl who looked a bit tired. "So... dumb question, but what exactly did go down? I know it had something to do with a gang but I'm not too sure of any of the real details.." Garret gave a somewhat awkward and inquisitive smile to the girl, awaiting her answer.

Jackson nodded and walked beside her thumbs in his trench coat pockets as the two of them went back to the bar. Now that Sera had her ash to treat Ryuji it wouldn't be long before they'd play cards, but it brought an interesting question to mind. What had caused Ryuji to become incapacitated by his current affliction in the first place? He sighed audibly as he had no idea what caused it. The only thing he remembered was beating the crap out of Crackerjack to end the hostilities. The bar would soon come into vision as it had survived well compared to the rest of the buildings now that the adrenaline rush was out of his system.

Kore Dair
Kore didn't say anything to Snow - even if she had somewhat misinterpreted her - Kore was much too tired to do anything about it, if it was still relevant, Kore would sort it out once she had rested. She looked really miserable, and she went outside... Ugh...
Just as she was closing her eyes again, and drifting off, someone else decided to talk to her. Sigh... What now? She kept her expression neutral as she looked up at him. He wasn't in the original group. "Uh, best to ask someone else, I wasn't around for most of it. But basically, stuff happened, and now I'm really sore and achy and trying to look after my-err, a friend.", she kept her voice soft and quiet, her exhaustion leaking in. Putting a hand on Ryuji's shoulder, he was the friend she referred to, after all, and she looked away from the stranger. Who the hell decided to sing?! She sighed, all she wanted was some peace and quiet and to sleep, but it seemed someone had other ideas. She felt too tired to yell at them, so she just did her best to ignore it, as she leaned her head back against the side of the bar. It was obvious she wanted the conversation to be over, but she managed to keep her eyes open, and waited for him to leave. It had taken her plenty of time to even slightly trust the group (something that still needed a lot of work), and the person she currently trusted most was unconscious, head on her lap, poisoned by her own thorns - it was quite ironic that his nickname for her had been nightshade... Whether Ryuji decided he hated her after this or not, she would still keep her trust for him... Even though she knew barely anything about him, he had gone out of his way to talk to her, be nice to her, and save her on numerous occasions. And this is how you repay him... Her brain whispered to her as her thoughts continued to sleepily swirl around in her head.

The night sure was eventful. It's been quite awhile since Sera has been in such rough conditions like these: wounded, tired, and low on supplies. It was a wonder how she had no permanent injuries, a miracle it must be, she thought. Times like these, the roles that each member plays must be carried out, no matter how hard it may be. That's how people survive in deadly situations. How Sera survived lethal encounters, involving her patients. It's what she does, no matter how much pain she is in, nor the dangers it posed, she would provide the first aid to those around her if they needed it. That was her role. A philosophy that had was embedded by her parents. "Oh, I hope they're doing okay.." She whispered. Beside her walking, Jackson was there, sighing. Was he hurt? There must have been something on his mind, maybe she can ask when they finally have at that game of cards.

Lights radiating from the bar were a welcome sight for sore eyes. Regardless of how those within actually felt about each other, it was relatively a positive environment. It truly was a wonder that this place was still standing, and it would most likely be the new hangout spot for many of the now-homeless residents of Svitch. 'These poor people. They don't deserve this. If only I had the supplies, I could set up a hospital here, train a few willing hands. It's nothing compared to an actual hospital like the ones in the city, but it's a start. And that's what these people need: a second chance.' Her heart went out for each and everyone in the town, the dirty faces of the men and women trying to find a life here, and for their children. What little they had, destroyed within a matter of minutes, simply because these "gang" thought they could do so. For once in her life, Sera was approving of death. Anger welled up inside, like a dry well being refilled. Her hands shook as she tried to contain her emotion. 'I need to focus. Ryuji still needs help.' When they reached the bar, she held the door open for Jackson, letting him pass. "Go find a table, or room. I'll meet up with you when I'm finished."

Kneeling besides Kore, whom had lent her lap to a sleeping Ryuji, Sera began to ground up the charcoal with the knife handle. "Hey Kore, I managed to get some charcoal from a nearby building. It's been awhile since I've treated nightshade poison, but it should be fine. Now, once I finish this, I need you to prop up his head so he doesn't choke." A bowl would be extremely helpful but right now, time is of the essence. Taking the bottle of vinegar out, she administered the mixture slowly with her hand, making sure to not pour too much in. Once Sera was satisfied with the amount, she wiped her hands and stored away the bottle of vinegar. "And there we go. Now we let him take care of the rest. He'll fine be fine, Kore. Oh, and when he wakes up, tell him that you were the one that took care of him." With that, she got up and left them alone. Now onto other business before that long awaited game with Jackson. Snow.

How long has it been since she has seen a bright red apple? An orchard, lined with healthy, vibrant green leaves swaying in an unending breeze. The ruby fruits glistening in the sunlight. It was all gone now. The ground is infertile. What comes out of the ground is small, always struggling. Weak. Unwelcome. On the outside, the skin is browned and rotting. Inside, the core is stale, unfresh. Occasionally, the outer layers look beautiful, full, enticing. But always on the inside, the core is rarely ever the same. Standing in the midst of the remnants of a collapsed building, was Snow. In tears, she cried out in agony. Alone.

Slowly, she walked up to her.

And Sera embraced her.

The boy lingered for a few moments, trying to think of who would know the full extent of what happened. "Mmk, sorry to bother you then." He waved his right hand before heading back to his table, where Mason still sung. His eyes wandering from face to face, he simply wasn't sure who to ask. What's more, he felt bad asking since just about everyone in the tavern were still recuperating from whatever had occurred. Garret decided that for today he'd just stick around Caleb... no, Mason and hang out with him until tomorrow. Then once everyone had gotten a little better he'd ask. Once again, he reached into his jacket's pocket to snag a few stale pretzels and his face fell a little when the dust on his fingers reminded him they'd gotten crushed. He sighed and lay his head on the table, watching the others and listening to Mason's song.

Jackson nodded and went inside and found himself a table in the corner near the stairs that led to the second story of the inn. Once inside he picked the chair in the corner as it would allow him to monitor those who would come to his table. A smart strategy considering there were more likely than not an influx of people that would soon arrive at the bar. Sitting down, he got out a deck of cards and started to expertly shuffle them, a habit he had picked up back when he was still with the WG. Cards were a favorite past time of his and he hoped that if he played with Snow and Sera, he could show them how to take their mind off what was going on around them.

Mason continued to sing his heart out as he noticed some new people entering the tavern.
He smiled as he noticed Garret once again sitting next to him, he finished up the song he was singing and turned his head to greet his new found friend
"Cheers Garret, did you find out anything?"
Ask Mason as he was still in his joyful mood. This could come off as obnoxious by some due to how happy he was and the town's destroyed state.
"Also, could i ask whats your power Garret, only if you feel like talking about it of course."
Mason said that last part since he didn't know if Garret knew his power or if he didn't wish to say what it was.

Nicholas slowly pushes open the bar door and steps inside, his mask and clothes were covered in blood and his cybernetic arm was exposed. He had decided that fighting the giant would probably have been a lost cause and had decided to help the people who needed it instead. He had managed to get a group of survivors to safety before being jumped by a large group of thugs, if it hadn't have been for his speed he'd have been dead. Nicholas sits down in an empty chair and clutches his ribs, no doubt they would be bruised after the severe beating he had taken but at least he would fight another day. He didn't know why the giants had attacked but he guessed it had something to do with the small group he had bumped into before. Maybe the girl who he had bumped into was more dangerous than he thought and perhaps had a range of powerful enemies after her?

Garret shook his head in response to the first question directed at him. As for the other one he wasn't sure he wanted anyone to know quite how weak his power actually was but he also wasn't a fan of hiding things. He leaned in closer before talking a little quieter. "Just don't let anyone else know, but my power kinda pales in comparison to literally everyone else's.. I'm only a D rank Abnorm. My power could probably be somewhat powerful in someone else's arsenal but I haven't found a way to make it very effective. All I can really do is make these sort of balls of plasma. I mean if I use more effort and energy I can compress them like little more damaging bullets but aside from that it's really weak."

Looking down at his right hand, he drew plasma out and into a small orb of bright blue light. Garret glared at it and slowly let it disperse peacefully until it had seemingly disappeared. Facing Mason again he gave a small smile. "It's pretty but not way too great for actual use. Oh and I can also smell and taste things more intensely. Was actually why we ran into each other since this place just.. well it stinks ass and I can pretty much taste everything I smell. Nice to have that when there's food around though." He laughed and let a bit of a grin cross his face. "So what about your powers?"

Mason smiled and nodded
"I promise,no one will know"
He assured his new friend as he looked at the Plasma ball in awe
"Wow, thats really neat"
Mason said his, voice full of awe and excitement.
"Well as much as i would love to show you my powers, i probably shouldn't with so many people around"
Mason said while laughing.
"Im a Rank B abnorm, my power is that i have control over sound, meaning i can imitate alot of sounds, and alot of other stuff. That includes screaming really loudly"
Mason said while laughing at his own child like explanation of his power.
"Sadly its not that good when im in group situations, since i cant really control who hears the sounds"
He said sadly as he remembered the limitations of his power
"Also if my mouth is somehow blocked from yelling i lose the ability to use my power to its full extent..."
He says quieter then before.

He laughed at Mason's way of explaining his power but he got a bit curious. The weakness sounded like it could be annoying if someone literally just put a rag over his mouth but he hoped if something like that were to ever happen, Garret would be there to help out his new friend. "So imitation? Like imitatin' voices or something? Man that sounds pretty cool honestly.." They boy imagined a battle going on where the two would work together to fight and his imagination ran him off course until he was pretty much in a whole other world and at this point just daydreaming.

"Yeah, it is really cool, especially for making it seem like you're someone your not"
He said while sounding exactly like Garret, he smirked as he yet again cleared his throat
"But in all serious it is quite the power, really helps me in alot of ways"

Garret snapped out of it to hear... well, to hear his voice rolling from Mason's tongue effortlessly. For the first few moments he was feeling chills from the oddity of hearing his voice leave someone else's mouth and then the next few moments he cringed. "Shit I don't sound like that do I?" Garret let out a hearty laugh and let himself be a bit weirded out from hearing his own voice unfiltered by his perception of it for the very first time. "Well that's definitely pretty neat all though.." He shivered and shook his head laughing, "..I can't believe that's what I sound like. Just so different than what I thought I sounded like." Stomach grumbling, he shushed it and lightly held his right arm around his torso in hopes he could somehow ignore the hunger he had until later. It was rather persistent however, and he found himself giving Mason a funny look. "You uh, you don't happen to be carrying any food or anything on you, do you?" Garret gave a bit of an apologetic smile since he didn't overly like asking things of people.

Lucca Malkovich
Location: Bar - Outside

My god, I forgot how much noise she can make when she's awake, was what Lucca was thinking when Vira came to, not even a "thank you" and went straight for a drink. In fact, it looks almost as if she took offence from the act of helping her, though perhaps that's just Lucca's imagination, since it was his impression that this lady here takes offence to almost anything and everything around her. Lucca wishes that he has his guns back right now, at least just the tranquilizer pistol, that should keep her quiet for the night, though he suspects that this much wouldn't make the Tree Lady give him his guns back.

"Defend? What are you talking about, I thought-" that he was your friend, was what Lucca was going to say but it didn't seem like she heard him as she was being led upstairs, so he quickly dropped it, it didn't matter if he says it now or latter, and something tells him that the black robe did really care either.

Still hearing the ruckus from upstairs, Lucca decided that he wanted to go out again, this time he won't have his time walking about the wreckage of ruined lives spoiled by having to carry an injured lady with a loudmouth back here to get treated. So once more, he stepped out into the night, wandering away from the bar. Right now, Lucca wasn't just looking for a walk, no, he had something else in mind other than a relaxing stroll through the streets lined with corpses. He was going to scavenge, not for coins like the lady before him, but for a weapon, and while guns are probably out of his reach, he could at least find something that he could defend himself with, and he doesn't really mind even something like a really sturdy stick.

After a momentary search and a few dead bodies later, the results are somewhat fruitful. From his scavenging, he had found a rusty metallic pipe, a somewhat dull knife, and a wooden shiv. From this selection, Lucca picked out the knife to keep, since a pipe is too long to hide and as for anything wooden, well, it shouldn't go too well with Tree Lady around. So knife it is, though, blunt it may be it was still enough to penetrate flesh with a properly placed stab, and not too skilled in hand to hand, this meant that if Lucca were to use it, it will always be for the kill. That thought was not the most appealing to him, while no stranger to taking a life, Lucca was never fond of it, always preferring nonlethal methods, and even now that feeling remains the same. Ironic isn't it, by taking away his guns, even the tranquilizer, it had only made Lucca deadlier, or rather, it made being deadly a necessity for him.

With a piece of cloth he had torn from the clothing of one of the deceased, Lucca wrapped the knife in the cloth and placed it into his jackets inner pocket, keeping it away from plain sight. He was about to leave, to continue his search for armaments, perhaps if he's lucky he'll actually find a firearm.

To his chagrin, a firearm was not what he had found when wandering about the ruined town, but a corpse, a corpse of someone he had recognized. She was buried beneath a pile of rubble, stuck against the road. Her head was bleeding, apparently something had struck her and knocked her out against the ground, and a metal pole seems to have penetrated her body, the killing blow as it seemed to be. Lucca did not remember her named, he didn't think he had even heard it, all he knew about her was that she was perhaps a slave on the run. To have gained freedom only to die on the roadside in some unknown town, it was tragic, a tragedy most would already be numb to in this dark world, but Lucca had certainly felt it, it may be numb to him, but he still felt it........

Upon further observation, and by that, it meant while Lucca was trying to loot her corpse, for a man still needs to eat and defend himself regardless of his sorrows, he had found that she was in fact, still breathing, barely. There was no time to waste. With great haste, Lucca ran back to the bar, and nearby, he saw the one he's looking for, the Medic... and Snow? There seems to be something going on with those two.

"Medic, someone's hurt, badly, and trapped. Took a hit to the head and pierced by an metal pole. It's that girl, the blue haired one." he said loudly, so that even those within the bar could hear, saving him time.

Whatever's going here seemed important and while he does feel sorry for Snow, this was more urgent.

"Snow, you come too, I need hands to help me clear the rubble. You're not hurt right?"

Lucca decided then that if the Medic couldn't stay with Snow, he might as well bring Snow along, she could help, and she wouldn't feel left out or abandoned to whatever issues she was having. Two birds in one stone perhaps?

Mason laughed at Garrets reaction
"Yes, you do sound like that"
Mason said inbetween laughs. A few seconds later he sighed
"Thanks, though its not a spot on impression, i would have to hear you talk for alot longer, also im not good at copying peoples emotions, so thats also a problem"
Mason said with a shrug as he realized how finicky his powers were.
When he heard Garret ask for food, Mason smiled and nodded
"Yeah, not much though, but here"
From a small satchel on the side of his body, Mason pulled out two strands of animal Jerky and presented it to Garret
"Well here, i still have more if you're hungry"
Mason said with a smile.

Garret

Garret's eyes stared at the jerky and his nose was filled with the wondrous scent. His stomach rumbled even more as he reached forward. "Thanks, you're a life-saver-" He hardly finished his sentence before chomping down on one end and beginning to nibble on it. It tasted so damn good and he looked at Mason as if he was some sort of god all of a sudden. A small memory of Caleb once again snuck into the front of Garret's head but he promptly pushed it back. He had no time or need to start wasting energy missing his long-deceased friend of the past.

A bit of a commotion stirred as the guy who'd had a fight with someone about his guns came rushing in asking for a nurse or anyone who wanted to help some girl who'd been impaled and knocked out. Garret jumped to his feet and stuff the second jerky in the pocket of his jacket. "We should see if we can lend a hand somehow.." He went and began to follow the man to the girl.

Mason smiled as he happily watched his friend munch on the piece of jerky. Mason also got out a piece and ate one himself, enjoying its unique flavor.
He saw the weird look his friend gave him, but decided to ignore it and continued eating his jerky.
Mason frowned as he heard a man come in and start talking about a hurt girl
"Yeah, you're right lets go"
Mason said as he stood up and followed Garret, making sure his satchel was closed as he silently prayed for the blue haired girls safety and well being.

Ryuji Nakamoto

Within a minute of the concoction hitting his system, Ryuji's breathing leveled out and if anyone were to check his pulse, it would be stable. Combining the mixture along with his own healing ability, he had stabilized. Now the question was, why wasn't he waking up? His stomach was already back to normal color. The shattered bones in his shoulder were fixed. He should be able to move, but why not?

A festival out in New-Japan, a land within New-Asia, it was New Years for them. And Ryuji was watching himself walk around with Hifumi. "More memories. Is this one wrong as well?" He muttered in self-pity as the pair idly talked. It had taken Ryuji not only begging his master but his King as well to let him take Hifumi out to show her the wonders that the Forever Army had created. He would likely suffer for it, but since their first talk, they'd grown closer. "Only because of the Fox." Ryuji hissed. It wasn't himself that had made her consider listening, but that monster.

"So, this is.....different, than what I expected from your people." Hifumi chuckled softly as she leaned into Ryuji. "Oh my." Her eyes lit up as another woman was dressed in some kind of shrine wear. "She's so pretty. I just want to steal away that flower and keep her in a planter by my bed. She could be my little sunflower." The woman's blonde hair and brown eyes were probably why Hifumi called her that. Ryuji had not once flirted since out on the battlefield with Hifumi, it was just not something he took joy in. "You always seem so timid when I start flirting, Ryuji do you not understand that a woman is a flower? She is to be sheltered, whispered sweet nothings to and treasured beyond belief? How could you NOT see that?" Hifumi grumbled her usual speech to him.

"Sorry, but I only have eyes for one flower." He slipped his hand into hers. Her cool touch against his warm skin brought him a sense of peace. Even the Fox had gone silent in the last few days since they left the mainland. Thinking of the Fox dampened Ryuji's mood though. His eyes looked downcast and ultimately he was losing his enjoyment, even of the time with her. "Sorry, I just...." He started to walk away but she grabbed his arm.

"Ryuji, come with me." She walked over to a booth and bought a mask. The simple wooden masked looked like a three eyed fox demon. "This mask, I'm going to use my ability on it, if you'll give me a throwing needle that is." Ryuji quietly handed overt he weapon and watched as Hifumi's power washed over the needle into the mask. She was breathing heavily when it was done, but the wooden mask had a sheen on it. Like it was a smooth reflective rock, glistening in the sun. "I have altered this mask to be sturdy enough for your missions. I know that when we return you're going back to killing, but use this as a switch." She smiled and attached the mask to Ryuji's hip. "When you wear this, you are the Fox. Born in the blood of his enemies and the suffering of his master's training" Yes, Ryuji actually had spoken of the training, though it was much like when he told the others outside his dream. "But when you aren't wearing it. You're my Ryuji. The man who spared me and has given me a second chance to do something with my life."

"You already have Hifumi."
He smiled and cupped her cheek. The pair seeming to lose themselves in the other's eyes as their faces grew closer and closer. Eventually their lips touched, only for a moment as Hifumi blushed and looked away. "You actually blush?!" Ryuji was surprised while Hifumi scowled at him. "It's cute. And something only I'm allowed to see." He stole her lips once more, covering her from being seen with his robes. The scar on his shoulder nowhere to be seen.

Settled down in his condition, Ryuji spoke in his sleep. "Loved you, Hifumi. My angel." His words were barely audible as he continued to recover, though his body was alright it was his spirit that wasn't now. He curled up tighter into a ball, like he was trying to cling to something and keep it close to his chest so it never would escape.

Zetsuo.jpg

"You seem to have forgotten your place Fox!" Zetsuo smacked the boy with his staff with a great deal of force. Despite his age, the old master had kept himself in rigorous condition. The bruise that formed upon his ribs healed in a second. "At least you're keeping your body conditioned. But you wish to get more time off when we're in the middle of conquest? And for what? A woman that betrayed her own beliefs?!"

Ryuji, who normally set back and let the Fox deal with his master, emerged by the removal of his mask. "Don't ever speak of Hifumi like that." Ryuji's eyes seemed so strong. Even the him of the future was impressed. I had that kind of look in my eyes?! How.....how did I His fingers trailed to the scars on his shoulder. Ah, this is THAT day huh? Ryuji watched in solemn acceptance as his younger self spouted self-righteous nonsense to Zetsuo. "I love her with all of my heart and plan on marrying her when this war is over. And once we're together, I will NEVER kill someone again."

"Oh?" Zetsuo's eyes narrowed as he became skeptical of this boy. "You're not the Fox anymore, are you? You're that helpless little boy that couldn't do anything right when I trained him. Have you restrained him? Pushed him away? Did you make yourself stronger by..." Looking at how shaky Ryuji's hand on the mask was Zetsuo realized. "No, you've merely trapped the Fox in your mind with a switch." Zetsuo's intuition was always on point. "Then let's see if you can truly back up what you say." Zetsuo through away his staff and robe, revealing an Adonis-like form beneath. "Fight me Ryuji. Show me how strong your feelings for her are. If you can't beat me, I'll give you a choice." Zetsuo knew this version of him couldn't win. Even as the Fox mask was slid on.

The battle was quickly decided. Ryuji had broken bones all over and they weren't healing as quickly as they used to. "You've let yourself become weak because of her. Those feeling are nothing Ryuji." Zetsuo removed the mask from Ryuji's face before stomping his boot onto his head, his nose bleeding from being shattered. "You're nothing without my guidance. You're pathetic. And she's the source of all this rebellious attitude of late." Zetsuo smirked as he spoke. "So here's my offer to you Ryuji. Either you can kill her and guarantee that it'll be painless. Or I will and you KNOW how I like to kill pests." Zetsuo tossed the mask to the ground expecting it to break, but was surprised when it didn't even chip. "Oh, I almost forgot." He smirked as he placed two finger's on Ryuji's right shoulder, the Necrotic Touch abnormality sending searing pain through Ryuji's shoulder as the skin was eaten away. Zetsuo ran his fingers down to the boy's shoulder blade and then stood up, watching with amusement as the dead skin remained looking like no more than a scar. "A small reminder for you of what she'll face."

Ryuji clenched his fingers in his sleep as the scars on his right shoulder expanded discoloring his entire shoulder before they were returned to those two slim lines from earlier. "Zetsuo, I'll kill you" He grunted as he rolled over, still in the fetal position as he held onto the memories and the happiness of Hifumi.

The temple surrounded Ryuji again. "And now I'm here. My final memory of Hifumi." He couldn't help but cry as he watched himself drinking sake with Hifumi. They were talking about their life together in the future. What they would do, how many children they'd have and how they wouldn't have to fight anymore. "If only she knew the truth." Ryuji sighed as he floated down to the side of the picnic.

"Ryuji, those marks on your shoulder. Zetsuo did that to you didn't he?" Hifumi moved closer and nearly touched the scars.

"Don't. I can only stop the spreading because of my abnormality. I don't want you to suffer too." Ryuji placed his hand on her cheek. The poison would be kicking in soon. It would weaken her body, blur her vision and throw off her sense of balance. Once that happened he would be able to kill her swiftly before the pain set in. "Just forget about him and think about our future. I'm surprised that you want five kids though."

"Three boys and two girls. One of them is going to be Ryu. I don't want him to be a copy of his father, otherwise I'd feel conflicted as his mother." She smirked while Ryuji rolled his eyes. "Come on, you have to...admit." Her body fell into his arms and Ryuji knew that the time was near. "What's....going on?" She looked as Ryuji put the mask onto his face. "So, he'd given you the order to kill me after all." Hifumi sighed as she seemed to accept her fate. "I knew it was only a matter of time."

"I'm sorry Hifumi." The Fox didn't come out when he put the mask on. This was a first. "Why isn't?"

"The Fox coming out? Maybe he can sense my wish." Hifumi smiled as she took off the mask. "Ryuji, I don't want to be slain my the monster. I didn't come to love him. If I must die because of how much I've changed you and how much stronger you've become since meeting me. I want the MAN to kill me." Even though she was dizzy, she managed to kiss him. The passion she displayed in that moment broke the dam as tears flowed endlessly from Ryuji onto her face. "That's better." Hifumi smiled even though she knew what was coming.

"Hifumi, I wish-"

"Shh. And listen to my last request Ryuji." Hifumi started to cringe as her organs were being damaged to by the poison. "Never let your humanity fade away again. I know that it's easier for you to hide behind the Fox. But he's a part of you. You have to find the strength to make him part of you again." She coughed and jerked as the pain tormented her body. "I want you to honor my memory by living your life." She smiled as blood trickled out from her mouth. "Find your happiness again. Grasp it and never let it go. Even if it means that you have to let ME go." A pained breath escaped her as she placed Ryuji's hand on his box of throwing needles. "Now it's time. Kill me my love. Set me free from this pain so that I might watch over you and shower you with my affection whenever you feel lonely or troubled." She put her fingers to his heart then his head. "Because I'm always here with you." She closed her eyes as Ryuji didn't grab the needles, but instead struck pressure points to stop her heart. He needed her blood, on his hands, not on some weapon.

That night, Ryuji wept and wept until no tears were left in his eyes.

"Goodbye, Hifumi." The words left Ryuji's mouth as a quiet sigh while tears rolled down his cheeks onto the floor. So much he'd faced along side her. So many things she'd done for him. And he repaid her by killing her. He couldn't forgive himself. If only he hadn't been weak.

Back in the grotto again, Ryuji saw both the Fox and Hifumi standing before him. The shaking and quaking was gone and they seemed calm. "So, I've cheated death again." He felt ashamed at this statement. "I saw the memories. Fox, you've been able to speak longer than you've led me on to believe." The Fox looked away. "And your healing powers are greater than my own." The Fox just lowered his head. "WHY LIE TO ME?!" He turned to Hifumi. "You knew! You knew the Fox was alive and had a will, and I just took it form him."

"The Fox is not to blame for any of this Ryuji!" Hifumi snapped. "And neither am I." She let her words echo before speaking again. "You're greatest challenge has and always will be accepting everything you've done and gone through." She looked sternly at him. "You couldn't stand the pain of your training, so you made him." She pointed to the Fox. "You made a guardian, someone to go through the pain and struggle for you so that you could keep smiling and laughing like nothing was wrong with the world! You chose to let your humanity become dormant while letting HIM suffer the agony of killing innocent people." Her scowl was plastered onto her face. "And even now, you refuse to do what I asked as my dying wish!" She felt angry and Ryuji could easily tell from her red cheeks.

"Hifumi, leave the boy alone for now." The Fox spoke up as he turned to him. "Boy, I'm letting you know this now. You are weak. You were scared of what I knew and what would happen if we became one. That's why you couldn't defeat Zetesuo back then. And that's why your power isn't as strong as it was back then. You're terrified of the truth of your past, because you think it'll change you." The Fox walked over to the water and pressed one of its six tails against his chest. "You were afraid of what Hifumi would see when she learned the truth. And now, because you cling so tightly to her asking to keep your humanity that you're scared of whether or not you'll stay human if you accept me again." The fox snarled. "I didn't become a monster for you to cry in a little corner like a bitch. So now it's time to wake the fuck up! You're not a kid anymore. You have to face reality head on. The you that was with Hifumi and the you that killed people and enjoyed it are one and the same." He glared into Ryuji's eyes. "Now you can either accept that or you can't."

Ryuji looked dumbfounded as he was barraged with all of this at once. He shook his head and walked past them. "I'm done listening to this." He started towards the entrance and Hifumi blocked his path. "Get out of my way or I'll-"

"You'll what Ryuji?" The Fox chided him. "Kill her again? Can you do it without poisoning her this time? Can you give her an HONORABLE death?" Ryuji scowled as he turned back to the Fox, before turning to HIfumi.

"Hifumi, I don't need you anymore." He spoke clearly and passed through her like she was air. "If you couldn't be honest with me in life, then I don't need you in death." He snarled as he walked out of the temple.

"So that's his choice then?" Hifumi sighed as she fell to her knees. "He's just going to forget everything?"

"Give him time Hifumi." Fox smirked as he sat beside her. "He just accepted his true memories of you. He accepted that you weren't perfect, but doesn't know how to react. It seems our little episode here has at least helped in a small way. He's moving."

"Wait...." HIfumi never realized that as she looked out towards the entrance. "So...."

"He'll be back. So long as he has the strength to face the realities of the world, he'll be back." The fox seemed to smile as one of his tails faded away into nothing.

Ryuji's eyes opened and he bolted up. "I don't need anyone." He muttered to himself as he pushed himself to his feet, pain coursing through his entire body at the strain. He looked about at these people in the tavern. They were all liars and self-interested freaks. If that's the way they were going to be, then he could become one of them. He didn't need to rely on people or trust them anymore. None of them were HIS responsibility. He stormed out of the tavern and quickly made his way onto the roof. Anger, betrayal, sorrow. He was plagued by all of it and the memories he'd witnessed were just not helping. "Even though she lied to me.....I still can't hate her." He looked over as a group of people were unburying a girl from some rubble, her blue hair was distinctly that of Kaia's. "Lilac." He muttered before looking over more of the scenery and seeing Snow embraced by Sera and all the destruction of the town. "Snowflake." He looked down at the roof underneath him. "I'm just too weak to be anyone's savior." Even thinking back, he couldn't save Kore without help from the bird freak either. He sighed as he saw the sun starting to rise from off in the east. "It's been a long night, but a brighter dawn lies around every corner." He spoke words Hifumi often said to him whenever he came back form an assignment.

Patrick puffed angrily on the now lit cigarette, starring hard at Third but not saying a word. Of course he could feel it, the world was getting worse, the number of abnorms had increased drastically over the last couple of years, and more of them were joining gangs like The One or those dam demons! Everything wrong that humanity had ever done was starting to resurface, slavery, torture, and vile men were in abundance, but what could he do? What could one man from a forgotten time do against an entire world of hate and fear?

These questions plagued Patrick every time he stopped for any amount of time, and now the Warden to was planning something and even asking for his assistance? Well hell no, the soldier had seen the way wardens operated and he didn't like it!

A headache was building as Third continued to talk, that combined with the burning from his nerves, and the sounds of battle he heard in the distance started to wear on Patrick's normal calm. A pulsing vein slowly appeared on the old mans forehead, and finally he just couldn't take it anymore.

He slammed his hand down on the table hard enough to crack one of it's legs audibly, and stood to his full height torn muscles and raw nerves screaming the whole time, I AM NOT LEAVING THEM, he roared into Thirds masked face. NO ONE HERE HAS TIME FOR THE WARDENS CRAZY PLANS OR PREDICTIONS LADY, AND THE SOONER YOU AND THE OTHER CHUKLEHEADS REALIZE THAT, THE SOONER YOU CAN FUCK RIGHT THE HELL OFF!

Patrick stood glaring down at Third pure rage evident on his face, leave me and the kids alone, if you want to preach do it to someone else, he said before turning and gently picking up Scarlett and Keiji and moving to a different table far away from the crazy masked people, what could one man do he thought bitterly.
