Oh man, if I'm playing courtier, it's Scorpion. And that'll be hilarious with the clan war coming up.
 
What would make me laugh is if the Unicorn and the Lion ended up in a relationship.


That aside, I'm all for having my character romantically involved with someone else. If you could get around the fact that she will have blond hair (with the GM's approval and everything). On the upside, she'll have a pronounceable name!


This, combined with thinking about taking 'can't lie' means, for the love all that's noble and the success of the mission, do NOT let her be the speaks-with-important-npcs.
 
I don't think the unicorn and lion will get together, seeing as we're both female.


Also, I'm not going to be lying much either, seeing as I am going to be a very honorable person (6.5 from berserker and 1 from virtuous)
 
Gender does NOT matter romantically in Rokugan. All that matters is all romance is kept very very secret.
 
the Dangerous Beauty advantage specifies opposite gender, but personally I'm flexible on that. Of course, I would be.
 
I officially have a hard copy of 4th edition and Enemies of the Empire, so, much rejoicing to be had. Also, this weekend will probably not see much backstory posted, graphic art project due on tuesday that I need to get cracking on. Answering questions though, I still can do

Handy, as NeoNinja and I have had a slight change of plan on the True Wuvvery- though the thought occurs that we should probably check that's OK with everyone... I realise in-party romance can get awkward, though for my part, the character's personality is such that nothing's allowed to happen without serious character development occuring first...
 
I've a silly question but do we have anyone who can have a decent chance in duels in the group?

The answer is thus: Do not challenge anyone to a duel, and when accepting a challenge, select another skill to duel in. Like shooting, riding or flower arranging!

Yep. Taking Iaijutsu 3 to start with, Courtier so good Air Ring, and I won't skimp on Void. The Kitsuki Rank 1 technique actually helps a little, too- +3ATN isn't massive, but it could help make an annoying enemy miss... We're not talking Kakita standard here, but easily as good as any of the non-duellist Bushi schools.
 
Duels can in fact just be 'my best fighting style against yours'. There's just more honor and glory gains/losses associated with the ritualized iaijutsu duel.


On an unrelated note, neo, last name goes first in Rokugan, :)
 
My personal favourite is the Tsuruchi ritualised duel, where participants stand in a circle 30' across and shoot at each other. Tsuruchi himself famously won such a duel by charging his opponent, rolling under their shot, and stabbing them in the leg with an arrow.
 
Crabs also practice a form of iaijutsu, using tetsubos instead (heavily padded if not to the death). Also of note is the pre-duel drinking contest is as ritualized as the duel itself.
