Alex laughed lightly looking at Nate’s reaction. He didn’t think his kiss would’ve created that reaction. “I didn’t mean to take your breath away.” Alex said softly, his eyes watching Nate.​

His whole face ran red and spread to his ears. He stared at Alex’s eyes for a moment before defiantly saying, “Yes you did,” though the punch of those words didn’t exist since they were so breathless. Still. “But you always do. It’s not usually so literal though. Did he teach you that or did you come up with that all on your own?”

Alex saw that red face and smiled. “Okay, well maybe I did.” He admitted with a laugh. He chuckled hearing Nate ask if Carlos taught him. Alex shook his head. “I simply remembered how he kissed me and had more to it because it was for you.” Alex told him.​

If he weren’t laying on the floor, he might have nodded like he was suddenly understanding everything and the world made sense. But instead, he just stared and repeated, “Oh.” So this was more than what Carlos did. Well, that was reassuring. Though, knowing that now, he briefly considered how Carlos would be with Kaleb then. He was moderately intense with Nate, and their connection was by far the least intimate. Wow. “That’s good to know that at any moment, you have the power to break my entire being.” He narrowed his eyes though kept his smile. “Is it bad that I like that?”

Alex laughed again as he heard that little ‘oh’ and smiled. “I told you I was a dangerous man. I can break you, and steal your breath” Alex told him, winking at Nate with a light chuckle. “I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing to like.” Alex added.​

He let out the remaining breath that he had managed to recapture. Dangerous was an understatement. Deadly. Alex was deadly. “Now who’s sounding like the resident flirt?” But even as he said it, he knew that it was different. Carlos flirted because that was who he was. Alex’s flirts here hit different. They had so much more power.

Alex chuckled a little. “I only flirt with you. There is a big difference.” Alex said. “Carlos flirts with anyone. I only have eyes for you love.” Alex added with a smile on his face before he leaned up and kissed Nate gently, and quickly before pulling away.​

The flutter in his stomach raced up his chest and down his arms at Alex’s words. At his love. That was him. He was his love. Alex was full of it and was giving it all to him. That was still astounding. He learned in that moment that even those gently, quick kisses could take his breath away. He sucked in a huge breath and let it out slowly and loudly, flopping his arms dramatically on the ground around them. “I give up. I don’t know what I’m giving up on but I am. You win… everything.”

Alex wanted to give all his love to Nate. He watched as Nate sucked in a huge breath before letting it out slowly and loudly. Alex laughed again. He’d never laughed or smiled so much as he had been since he’d met Nate. “I win? What do I win?” Alex asked, a smirk on his face.​

Nate picked up his arms to let them fall again in the most dramatic shrug one could do while laying on the floor. “Whatever you want? I would give you whatever you want. I don’t know how I’m going to get you things like the moon, but I’ll do it. You tell me what you win.”

Alex shook his head in a small laugh. “All I want is you. Our farmhouse. And our little four person family. That’s what I win.” Alex told him, feeling a small yawn escape him. He wasn’t tired, just content with laying with Nate.​

That was the cutest answer possibly ever. He felt the wave of affection for this man wash over him as he held Alex close to him. “Okay. I can do that. How does that forever sound? Because I refuse to do half measures here. Once you take me and our farmhouse and our family, you can’t give them back.”

Alex smiled at Nate. “Of course, forever works just fine for me. I want our family and farmhouse forever.” Alex agreed happily. How did he get so lucky to have this man not only travel with him, but love him back just as Alex loved him. It was a beautiful thing. A beautiful love. ​

“Good.” He wrapped his arms tight around Alex, holding him as firmly and closely as he could manage. His guiding light. His monkey man. His love. He could never imagine that this was going to be his life. He kissed to top of Alex’s head before briefly turning his attention to the bed. “Are they asleep?” He whispered. “Should we be sleeping? I have no idea what time of day it is.”

Alex snuggled closer to Nate when he wrapped his arms around Alex. He enjoyed this, the hug. The love. His medic. His superhero. The love of his life. He didn't want to move an inch, intent on staying right here. He smiled at the kiss to the top of his head before he looked over at the bed. "I don't know. Um. The windows are boarded up so I can't tell if it's dark or not. Should we sleep anyway?" Alex didn't really have any answers but he probably could fall asleep.​

Nate breathed him in, closed his eyes, and relaxed into the moment of being two. Of being one. “I mean, I could pretty easily fall asleep.” Only a bed would make this comfier, and they did not have room on that little one up there. Carlos alone took up so much space that they would never be able to. “Maybe we should so that we are rested for when they get up and are ready to move?” Also, he didn’t want to get up from the sleepy snuggle. So this was a selfish suggestion.

Alex sighed as he felt his eyes struggling to stay open. "I completely agree, not only could I fall asleep now, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to do so." Alex said. He also didn't want to move from this cuddle. He was enjoying it way too much. Alex felt his breathing slow down as he relaxed. "Hopefully they wake us up when they get up." Alex added, closing his eyes with a contented sigh.​

Nate almost laughed, but his mind was too tired for that now. “Maybe. Or maybe not with the way Carlos has been.” He yawned and realized that laying there that long probably was too relaxing and must be the reason he was so tired. Or maybe it was hunting for flowers. Or maybe it was saving Alex from himself. A lot happened in the however many hours they were awake. But then he drifted off to sleep.

Alex had heard Nate but he was so tired, he didn't respond. A lot had happened in the last few hours, and Alex needed the nap. He was asleep in minutes. What seemed like a few hours, actually ended up being the entire night. The next morning Alex was half awake, his mind was up but he didn't want to open his eyes. He shifted closer to Nate, quite content to stay right where he was. Alex was almost content to call this their new farmhouse and stay right here forever.

Kaleb woke up that morning, his side was still in pain, but it was dull compared to yesterday. He could move a little, though they might have to reapply the poultice. He wanted to test out walking today if Nate let him. Kaleb shifted himself a little and was happy when it didn't hurt like he thought it would. He looked at Carlos and shifted himself onto his back, looking up at the ceiling, thinking about the past and how they got to where they are now.​

Nate woke as Alex shifted closer to him. He was already kind of in and out at that point, so Alex’s movements brought him back to life. He yawned as his arms stretched, vibrating for a moment as his limbs awoke. He smiled at Alex who was still attached to him. “Good morning, beautiful.” He kissed the top of his head and rolled his own in an attempt to face the bed. “Anyone alive up there?” he asked somewhat quietly in case they were still asleep.

Alex smiled at the kiss on the top of his head. "Good morning love" Alex said softly, slowly stretching out his legs. Alex looked up at the bed as well, unsure if anyone was awake or if they were both still asleep. Kaleb twisted his head and looked down at the two of them. "I'm am, but I think Carlos is still dead to the world." Kaleb said with a soft chuckle.​

Nate slowly began to rise, which was more difficult with an Alex he didn’t want to move. He did anyway, but to show his apologies, he pressed a long kiss to his lips. “I have to go check on my patient.” That one wasn’t enough, and he kissed him once more before standing up, stretching, and making his way to the bed. Yep, Carlos was for sure dead to the world. “How do you feel? Do you think you need another round of our probably not that poisonous plant?”

Alex didn't want Nate to move, but he liked the way Nate apologized. The first kiss was beautiful and Alex gave back into it. He was about to say that it was okay, but another quick kiss came before he could. Alex sat up, crossing his legs and watched him go over to Kaleb with a smile. Kaleb looked at Nate and thought about it for a moment. "It's a dull pain in my side, not nearly as bad as yesterday. I wonder if another round would be worth it. I don't think it would hurt." Kaleb said. "I'm not dead yet so" Kaleb added with a smile.​

Nate examined him from this outside perspective for a moment. His color was good. His movements were reasonable. His attitude was good. He was talking very well. “Okay, this is the part where I get up close and personal with your wound.” Before he could receive an answer, he was undressing the wound carefully, watching for Kaleb’s reaction to the removal. “Well, that is still one of the nastiest things I have ever seen. But! I do believe that this is helping. You should have much more swelling around here. Huh, the little old man was right. Okay, give me a second.” He popped back over the work bench where the rest of the ground flower poultice was waiting. He brought it over, warned, “Did this sting last time?” and began to ease it around the wound. He wrapped it up and nodded. “Great! Let’s give it a moment to settle in, and then I think it’s time we start your rehabilitation program.” He leaned over to look at the dead guy curled around him. “Should we do something about that or do we let him be dead?”

Kaleb looked at Nate when he examined him before he nodded. "I got it" He said, shifting so that Nate could have full access to the wound. It didn't hurt half as much as yesterday. He didn't like that it was the nastiest wounds that Nate had ever seen, but he trusted the medic. He watched as Nate went back to the work bench and grabbed the poultice. Kaleb knew it had stung yesterday when it was put on, but this time it wasn't half as bad. "Much better than yesterday" Kaleb admitted. He watched as Nate wrapped it up, and then Kaleb nodded. "I can't wait to get started with that" He said before looking over at Carlos. "Eh, let him sleep. Poor guy deserves it" Kaleb said with a small laugh.​
