Taking Flight [Inactive]

Maeve's eyes flashed as something was thrown at her, dropping to the ground to dodge it. The sack dropped to the ground, dripping water.

She flared her nostrils suspiciously, and took it, pouring it across her wound. She tore the lower portion of her leather armor with the knife she kept in her right boot, and changed the bandages, catching a glimpse of her wound in the process.

It was sore red all around, veins visible and enflamed. An infection was present, but no pus excreted from it. It was nothing she couldn't handle. She poured the rest of the water on it and wrapped the strips of leather around it.

Maeve pulled the leather more loosely around, to allow some air for it to breathe.

"Thank you." She said, feigning gratefulness as she slid the waterskin back to the angel.

"No problem, I'm going to kill the one who did this to you, you can join me if you want," Ali said grinning. She rubbed her hands together and glanced outside. All of them were gone, chasing whoever was watching them.

"Well I just put them through a lot of pain, you didn't deserve that arrow, and your comrades certainly didn't either," Ali hissed. Its all his fault, all Deirk's fault, she thought to herself.

"Goddamn it Deirk!" she cried out before sitting on the ground.

Kio came back inside hearing Ali's shrieks of rage. He ran quickly to Maeve's side. "Are you alright? Kio asked. "You should probably lie down, it's not good for you to put too much strain on the wound, you might re open it" Kio said, gently pushing Maeve onto her back. Kio then ran to a part of the cave and brought back a blanket for Maeve. "Here, this might keep you warm" Kio said handing the blanket to Maeve. "Hey I'm Kio" Kio introduced himself "and you are...?"

Strange behavior. Maeve thought, looking at the female angel with analytical eyes. She said nothing in reply, but moved her gaze to the ground when she'd finished, keeping her face carefully blank.

Maeve cringed when the newcoming male angel touched her, wishing she could scrub away the area that had been touched. She took the blanket, though, curling up her hands around it.

She stared at him in distrust. He called himself 'Kio'. Ignoring his question, she asked, "Am I a prisoner or a slave? What do you want from me." She shifted her gaze between them, trying to get a read on their expressions.

So they want to play that angle, do they? Maeve squinted her eyes at Ali. "I'm not much in the mood for such falsities. You kept me alive because you want something from me. Let's not play games here." She shifted herself upwards, using the wall for support and holding her stomach as she moved to a seated position and darkened her eyes against them. "You may as well kill me now, I won't give any of you a single thing you ask of me."

"No, I don't want anything from you," Ali said with a frown, "what would we get from Humans anyway? I just like people."

Ali looked at the Human quizzically. What would we possible get from making a Human our slave? Ali asked herself and then shrugged, brushing it off. Probably a close family death or some sort.

Maeve gave her an exasperated look. Two can play at this game... Maeve tilted her head, and said in a mocking tone. "Oh I see. My mistake. You angels actually really like us. That makes everything fine then."

"There's a reason I'm not in a tribe, all the murder, it hurts. I'm sure you've seen it happen, maybe they got one of your loved ones," Ali huffed and stood. This Human was starting to annoy her, why didn't she believe her? Is it so hard to believe some Angels are good?

Apparently, Ali sighed as she looked over at the Human. "You should lay down, as Kio said, that wound might open up again. Oh god it's infected, too. What the hell, Kio."

A tribe..? They have separate alliances? This was enlightening. She stored that knowledge back into her mind, chewing it over thoughtfully. She would need to pay attention. They may let slip where this 'tribe' resides.

Maeve hoped she could live to tell this to the rest of the Hunters.

And again the angel came out with some fake concern. Maeve shook her head at the transparent effort. "The wound's already closed. The infection is minimal." She eyed Kio. "He did a well enough job bandaging it. I could make the hike back home now if I tried." She checked the female for a reaction; that angel seemed to be their leader and if she was so foolish as to let Maeve go, Maeve was certain her plan would be easier to carry out than she had first believed.

"There are other Angels out there, some that would happily torture you without a second thought," Ali rolled her eyes and glanced out the door.

"Now, would you like something to eat? You've been out for a while," Ali asked with a small smile.

"I'm not hungry." The thought of food rose another bout of nausea, and Maeve swallowed down the bile in her throat. She settled back against the wall, still taut with tension. She took the knife from her boot, twirling it against her thumb, eyeing the angel defiantly to see what she would do.

Ali shrugged as the Human pulled out a hidden knife from her boot. She didn't mind it, if it made the Human feel safer she was fine with it.

"So, what's your name? Its weird to not know our guest's name," Ali laughed. This Human wanted to kill them, fine, but she couldn't do it with a wound like that, and that's why Ali was so comfortable.

Maeve pursed her lips. She supposed it would do some poetic justice for them to know the name of the one that would kill them. It was more than she ever had from the one that had killed her brother.

"Maeve." She said simply. "Don't tell me yours. I'm not interested." She stared at the curve of her blade in silence. Her stomach throbbed around the wound.

"Maeve..." Ali tried the name and let it roll off her tongue a few times before looking at Maeve and grinning, "It sounds cool. So, how many Angels have you killed?"

She must admit, it was an odd question, but she wanted to know, she was curious. Exactly how good is she at Angel hunting?

"Three..." She began automatically, then caught herself. "Hundred.."

The knife looked rather pretty, reflecting off the dim light. Maeve pretended to be engrossed in its many grooves and scratches.

"Three hundred? Really..." Ali murmured as she tapped her chin.

Seems like she's exaggerating, Ali draped her wings over her shoulders as a cool breeze entered the cave.

Logan kept his blades around his neck, pursing his lips a bit as he sat and pressed his light bottom against his lower stomach. "I have whole day, you know", he murmured and tilted slightly his head. He liked his hair: all black and curly.

"I'm gonna go check on the boys and whoever they chased down, you just sleep," Ali said to Maeve before flying out of the cave. It probably wasn't a good idea to leave her there by herself but she needed to find the guys.

Ali found them, Logan sitting on the Angel's lower stomach glaring hard at him. "Logan, I don't think that's gonna be really affective when he's fully awake," Ali laughs as she flies down to Logan and stands by his side.

Logan looked Ali with a lot warmer glaze, pouting. "What do you mean?", he asked as he loosed his grip of daggers a bit.
