As morning breaks over the village of Taeko, the early rays of sunlight filter through the thin paper walls of the guest house. Outside, despite the previous night's festivities, the village is already alive with activity - a testament to the industrious nature of its beastkin inhabitants.

The sound of wooden sandals on dirt paths mingles with quiet conversation as villagers go about their morning routines. The smell of cooking fires and breakfast being prepared wafts through the air. However, there's a noticeable disruption to the usual morning rhythm - small groups of villagers keep pausing in their tasks, trying (and failing) to discretely stare at the peculiar sight of Neco-Arc.

La Creatura 2.png

Unlike the typical beastkin with their naturally proportioned animal features, Neco-Arc's cartoonish appearance draws confused whispers and pointing from children. Some of the elderly villagers can be seen adjusting their spectacles, as if trying to make sure their eyes aren't deceiving them. A group of young tanuki cubs follow at a safe distance, giggling and imitating its exaggerated movements when they think no one is looking.

Yoshiro2.jpg

Elder Yoshiro, the aged goat beastkin who has led the village through many seasons, can be seen speaking with some of the other village elders near the main hall. Their occasional glances toward the guest house suggest there are important matters to be discussed once everyone has properly awakened.

The morning air carries a slight chill - autumn is definitely making its presence known, and a light mist still clings to the ground in shadowed areas between buildings.

While many were quite industriously outside, Vince remained blissfully asleep.

It was like dying. Bliss. Someone probably could have snuck into his room and shanked him to death -- and he would all but die peacefully in his sleep. The day yesterday had been hard spent Blacksmithing from morning, slaying cultists and partying at night -- all culminated with some Mexican standoff at the end. Now, he lay and regained his energy. The alcohol in his system hardly affected him when it came to a hangover, given how he'd stuffed his face earlier but drinking. Unlike some people, however -- he was pretty good at keeping it down. And all that soup ended up watering down he did drink. The bottle sat about half empty in the corner as he lay on his tatami matt, half-empty flask of water accompanying it.

The sun washed over his face -- and it was lucky to garner even a twitch from him as he lay there in a cotton wifebeater and sleeping shorts. He shifted in his sleep, merely turning his head away. Beneath his pillow was his colt single action army "Peacemaker"....which ironically only made him sleep more peacefully.

At this rate, it looked like Vince was going to be fashionably late. At the very least, he had managed to alert everyone that he was probably going to drop hard. Now it was just a matter of whether or not he was going to wake himself up or if anyone would remember to do so. At least he'd bathed before he hit the hay. The door had been left unlocked.

Yukan Koyake

Yukan on the other hand would have woken up early, and gone through his morning routine of being presentable, including any would be bathing. During a more peaceful time he might have worn his civilian clothing but for this formal meeting he figured wearing his armor would be appropriate given the subject matter. He did know well enough that his weapon should be holstered on his back and stay that way throughout the meeting, he might not have brought otherwise but as far as he was cornered this was a time of conflict, were there was potentially more enemies to come.

He’d make his way toward the main hall area, knowing full well they were going to get an audience from what Yoshiro had suggested yesterday when he had raised his concern.

He was glad to see that Neco-Arc as different as they were appeared to be an ally rather than an enemy thus far. The same was true for some of the new comers who had arrived. He took note of the other Tanuki, ones from a different clan no doubt, to whom he gave a nod of acknowledgment too, also giving a nod to Neco Arc.

Yukan was ready to gather with the others, sure that Okami would have some valuable information to add to the discourse. Kota too as well perhaps as well as Rei. Vincent may as well. Mathias he was less familiar with.

Regardless Yukan had quite a few ideas for moving forward as far as bolstering the village defenses and preparing people to fight if need be. Hopefully they'd be able to teach some skills with affordable weapons and teach some of the people here what was needed to make a successful organized peasant militia who could deal with threats as a joint force if need be.

Strength and Muscle and Jungle work...

While more then a few of the locals had spared a strange glance at him, he gave little indication of any type of interest. In his many years in the corps he had seen many, many strange things, and this world's apparent population of...animal people? Anthromorphs? was something he got over with in a few moments. What took longer was the economy. He wasn't a historian or anything, and much to his disappointment, his wallet had been left back home, and he found him self rather short on trade goods to barter. That was until, as he sat on a bench, smoking a cig, he was approached by a...Fox man?

It looked like that, at any rate, who introduced him self as Misuki, one of the Apothecaries for the town. The man was interested in the strange herb Bigs was partaking off and after Bigs confirmed that it was Tobacco, just not of a strain native to this world, the man offered a trade. After some haggling, and Bigs, not wanting to barter away his entire supply of his precious Turkish nicotine, settled on a half dozen cigs for a single silver coin a piece. Flipping the coins in his fingers, he nodded and handed over the small stack of paper rolled cigs to the Fox-man who smiled and thanked him prefusely for his good trade sense.

He was probably bullshitting Bigs, but he had seen it many, many times before. This wasn't the first time he had bartered with the locals of a strange land. The name was interesting, "beastyen". Who ever designed this world needed to take a class on originality.

As the morning dragged on, he used two of his "Beastyen" to acquire a small breakfast of some warm bread rolls and jerky combined with his own ration bar and canteen, and he sat about, his cig still hanging in his lips, maintaining his rifle on the same bench as the morning dragged on. Setting the lock plate back in place and using a spare silver piece to reset the screws, he spied the Tanuki man striding across the courtyard and, sensing he was gearing up for something, slung the rifle over his shoulder and got up to fallow, giving the man a nod before taking another drag off his smoke.

"Bit early to be in full battle rattle, eh?" His tone was rather warm, if a bit low. He awaited the Racoon Man's response. (Skill use: Warfare - F-grade)

"No such thing," Okami replied to Bigs as she made her way over to Yukan and Bigs; a light smirk drawn across her lips.

She would greet them both with bow and join them as they made their way over to the main hall. The group had... quite the challenge set before them. Somehow, they had to get the relatively peaceful village of Taeko into fighting shape without falling too far behind on their own goals. The downside? That didn't leave them with very much time. The upside?

They had quite a few diverse skillsets here.

Yukan was a natural leader, and could inspire those with the capacity for warfare to take up arms and learn how to use them. Vincent was a decent blacksmith and could provide the people with those very arms, as well as educate them on how to provide for themselves. Rei came from a literal dojo and would probably do a better job of teaching form and technique than Okami, herself, could. Bigsby and the newly reborn Kota no doubt had their own contributions to make to the village. And as for the wolf, herself?

She was more than happy to provide proper kumite to every prospective warrior.

"Full-contact" sparring, if you will. Okami was more-than confident in her ability to provide the citizens of Taeko with proper training whilst running no risk of death nor serious injury. Kata was important, but nothing without kumite. Put differently; knowing how to properly perform a move meant nothing if you lacked the ability to properly utilize it in live combat.

If only they had a medic on-hand.

Oh well. The Ronin held silent as they advanced; leaving Yukan to first address Yoshiro and the rest of the village upon their arrival. When it came time to lend her arm to the cause, she would be more than happy to do her part.

Rei woke up on her bed with a sake bottle on her side, just like usual. Her head was throbbing and she couldn't remember much about what transpired during yesterday festival, but at least she didn't have as much hangover as she thought she would have. Dragging her bottle to the river, she decided to just take a bath while also doing her weekly meditating under the waterfall routine. Only then she was ready for the day. She tied the sake bottle on her left hips as if it was her second sword before making her way to the village hall.

"Oh... You are the cat kid from yesterday." She approached Neco Arc as she made her way to the village hall, kneeling to make herself the same level as the beastkin. "I thought you were a figment of my drunk imagination. Name's Rei, nice to meet you."

Looking at the village hall, she also noticed the other people there so she waved her hand at them to greet them.

"Good morning boss, Okami, gun guy. Nice day for drinking, isn't?" She said joyfully, her eyes looks around as she felts like someone was missing. "Hmm? Where's Vince? Is he still sleeping? Did the alcohol get to him?"

"Boss, please give me a permission to dump a bucket of cold water on that sleepyhead lightweight."
Rei asked Yukan while giving him an unnecessarily formal salute.
