"How quickly our defenses go up when we perceive an attack~" Jordan almost couldn't help himself, a grin spread across his face as he continued "You would attempt to insult me and MY Kind" Jordan made sure to keep using the words that the wolf himself used, "but when you hear something that upsets you, you are quick to be offended~ However you mistook my words brother wolf, my god sent his right and left hand to speak with you out of necessity, not out of arrogance." Jordan took a second to compose his words, as he thought he realized how bad his words sounded "I apologize deeply for any misunderstanding, but with so many hunters about, it would be ill-advised for a god to come themselves, and mine is not known for his subtlety. I fear if he were to come it would do more harm than good." Jordan reached for his cup and took a sip.

"Ah...It's gone cold..." he said to himself before continuing, "Our goal, brother wolf, is to stop the end of the world. I may enjoy a bit of chaos every now and again, but the Apocalypse is something we fear as much as you do. If you wish, we can have no contact other than the exchange of information if MY Kind's presence offends you. However I must push for an alliance, and I cannot leave until one is had"

William returned the kiss, chuckling softly. "Afraid not," he murmured, idly nothing that he didn't want any part of a celebration organized by Brendan... or any of the Council, for that matter. Least of all after the meeting about Mackenzie. William smiled, keeping his forehead in contact with Mac's, his lips inches away from hers.

"Besides, who needs a party when I have my loyal aide?" he said, the hands at the small of her back massing slow circles. Joke or not, the remark came out quite sincere -- which was fair enough, considering it was true. He'd rather spend every waking second of his day with Mackenzie than attend a celebration in his honor. He thought back to earlier, when he had introduced her to Adelaide as his girlfriend without so much as a second thought. It seemed absurd -- he'd never really thought to put a label on himself and Mac. The title felt strange... but comforting. But how did Mac feel about it? She hadn't protested at the time, but that hardly meant anything. Deciding to test the waters, he added (somewhat anxiously), "...or do you prefer your new title?"

Elijah looked at the basin for a moment before returning his attention to Ashley-May and nodding. He trusted her to take care of him... more than any of the nurses here. More than most anyone, in fact. He had slumbered peacefully, nightmares banished, secure in the knowledge that she was watching over him. He had never known anyone to have that effect on him.

"I'm good," he said with a smirk. "Do your worst, Miss Nightingale."

There was a moment of concern as Chase thought back to his talk with Ashley about Mac's past, that she'd been in two different dens. Something wasn't lining up. Chase knew that Mac and Will had met with a leader of the females former den, but he'd never got a name. Emile made it sound as if that was Franklin, but if Franklin was the one who'd helped with the Borseti incident...

Chase tilted his beer up to get at some of the alcohol while he thought about it. This was far more complicated than it seemed at first glance. "Okay." Chase said with a little defeat but mostly understanding on the situation. "Thanks for being honest with me, I realize you didn't have to." Chase rubbed at the back of his neck, setting his drink carefully on the step. Emile's pack wasn't free of being guilty, because they had helped plan and been a part of the whole Borseti thing. But it would have gone differently. Even so Chase wasn't sure he could get behind laying siege to Vitae, too many things could go wrong, and there was no guarantee Vitae and the pack would come out of this as allies like Emile hoped. Resentment and fear are strong motivators.

"There anything you want to tell me on your own terms without my having to ask?"

Joe watched the interplay between the bartender and Andy, shaking his head disapprovingly as the teenager was given a drink. "Just because we falsified your records to make you over the legal age doesn't mean you should drink." He commented, sipping at his own beer in a relaxed state. Annoyingly when she asked her question she decided to threaten him along with it causing Joe to turn his head and glare at her his dad tone coming out to play, "Either you act civil or threaten me, you don't get to do both. Threaten me or lay another hand on me again and I walk, got that?" Joe held out an open hand between them, beckoning her to place something in it. "Keys."

"You already know why. Vitae put out the call to get hunters inside their walls, I mentioned that to you weeks ago. What you don't know is it's because there's a pack planning to attack the colony." Joe paused momentarily, "You were young so you probably don't remember but they did it before years ago, Borseti's people never knew what hit them."

She hesitantly gave the keys back to him while making a mockery out of the legal age of drinking. "Maybe you shouldn't have falsified my records then. Well I don't think that you're one to be making requests like that considering a teenager just knocked you out and stole your car." She smirked a little and took a sip of her drink. "But fine... Wait, what pack? That would explain that guy that came in...." The last part murmured to herself. Still a little bit tense but slightly relaxed knowing why there were so many, but the past attack had her mind going.

Malcolm gave a low grumble as the Kitsune suggested they prevent what was coming. "Our gods have been warning us for centuries about the First Sin and what it brings. I doubt greatly you god has any more information than our own; if there was a way to prevent it, to stop what is coming they would have told us."

The pack nodded in agreement, they had all been taught the ways of the old, knew the lore as well as the next. "We are preparing to survive what comes; that's all we want of the hunters in that colony as well."

Emile was thankful Chase came to understand what he and the pack represented. He couldn't be certain but it at least seemed to put Chase at a bit of ease. Chase was offering a moment to give him information without being promoted. Of course the boldness of the man him never ceased to amaze him in the best of ways. He knew for certain Chase would be a great addition to his pack ... If the man stayed after they were done with Vitae.

Emile regarded Chase carefully before nodding slowly. "You do not worry about Vitae, we have an ami, a friend inside. We get in without a fight." He smiled confidently. "Go has human too. No wolf."

Mackenzie was thankful when Will denied any knowledge of what the families were preparing in the cul-de-sac where hid new home was now located. She found the feeling odd, thinking of a place of residence at all was too far from her ability to consider. She understood the uses and the attachment to a place Mac hadn't had a home since Borseti; and that had gone horribly wrong.

Will was questioning her new title and she had to frown slightly as she had to think back at what she had been called and by whom. It suddenly came to mind and a pink flush came to her cheeks. "Well," she spoke softly, rather uncertain. "It was a surprise... A good one." she smiled tilting her head enough to his his lip. "Are you up for the challenge that title brings?"

Ashley-May nodded as Eli confirmed his readiness in the typical fashion. Never straight answers with the man but when he did it made her heart flutter. Like hid assuredness about keeping her and her child safe. She started slowly, recalling how embarrassed Eli had been previously so she sought to distract him.

"So Will is a Nephilim too." She said as she started to gingerly lift the hem of his shirt over his head. Garment free she tossed aside; she'd launder it later when he slept for the night. "But he doesn't have Grace. Have you ever heard of that before?" She wrapped a towel around his shoulders turning to the basin to soak two cloths; one she handed to him to cleanse what he could while she brought the second to his head, stroking it over his hair and soaking it. She was determined to remove the rest of the gnarls and grim from it today.

As Hypnos had focused on making the copies of Ash he also noticed a rather strange energy in the area of Vitae and split a part of his consciousness off to investigate. When he got there he realized it was a kitsune in the middle of a rather interesting conversation with the Pack. Hypnos couldn't help himself and just had to put his two cents in. Another projection of Hypnos appeared inside the werewolves compound, right next to Malcolm and the Kitsune with his hands tucked behind his back. " Pardon my intrusion, but I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. " Hypnos said with a smile, " So did I hear that correctly? You both want to stop the First Sin from escaping?" Hypnos said gesturing between the two of them with his index finger.

William smiled. "I'd like to think so. Only one way to find out," he said quietly, bringing his lips down to hers again for a lingering kiss before breaking the contact. Her mention of a party struck him, however. Diffey had mentioned a celebration after handing him the key at the meeting; that little fact had slipped his mind amidst the business of arguing for Mac's life and freedom. Now to break the news.

"So... I may have lied. That party you saw is for me and Elijah according to Diffey. I forgot him mentioning it at the 'meeting'. Had bigger things to worry about. We're invited, of course... if you want to go. If not, we'd just have to find some other way to occupy our time," he teased.

Diffey had extended his invitation to Elijah, too, but Will doubted that the man would be able to attend in his current state, though at this point it was Ashley-May's call.

upload_2017-7-7_11-34-44.jpeg

Elijah lifted his arms cautiously to help Ashley-May as she removed his shirt before draping a towel across his shoulders and handing him a damp cloth. "No, never," he said, running the cloth along his forearms. "I suppose it's possible; there are references to Fallen Angels who lose their Grace... I would guess the same thing is possible for Nephilim under the right circumstances." He paused suddenly, about to mention Mur's ability to go through with the process of removing it in the first place, but stopped himself short. He didn't want to bring up a potentially raw subject for Ashley-May, well aware that they had a history. He moved on to cleansing his upper chest, staying well away from the site of his wound, not wanting to soak the dressings.

"Are you thinking about finding a way to do the same thing?" he asked slowly, with no judgement in his tone. "To give the child a chance at a normal life?"

"With all due respect, do you really believe that if the First Sin is freed any of us will survive? Our kinds are trying to survive NOW and most people don't even know we exist. The things it will do to this earth, the war it will bring... the destruction. The world you're preparing to survive in is a world where you're just waiting to die brother wolf. Fighting it, finding some way to keep it locked up is the only way we win this." Jordan was actually shocked, the wolves had given up the Earth without trying to fight for it. Jordan snapped his head in Hypnos' direction before the God appeared. ".... We are indeed... well at the very least I am"

x9n23ag.jpg

The scent of poppies was the first indication to the pack that yet another god was about to intrude upon them. Hypnos made himself present, and clearly he'd in listening to their conversation. Malcolm gave an annoyed grunt, it would be the only welcome the god got from him; he was aware of his connection with is daughter and he certainly did not approve. "Mantiou has already provided us a way to survive, fox." He continued with the Kitsune. "If our god believed there was a way to prevent this event he would have told it to us, lead us that way. Clearly he knows something more than your god, or this one." He nodded towards Hypnos; unconvinced either of them knew a way to prevent the freedom of the First Sin.

Mackenzie smirked against his lips as he stated he was up for the challenge that was her; and she was certainly going to put him through his paces. Though the man stated he lied about the events outdoors were actually for him and Elijah as it were. She thought to deny it, to remain inside and with him, but after news of their vote from the morning hours she felt a little torture was due. "I think we should go," She said then, though made no move to leave his arms and warm embrace. "It would be rude to not show up, if it's in your honor. I made some pastries, we can bring them as a thank you." She watched him for a moment. "And I think we'll both enjoy just how awkward it'll be for me to show up. I really really doubt they thought it through when they invited you, that you'd bring me."

GxQZJgl.jpg

With Elijah's hair now sufficiently soaked she set the cloth aside drying her hands on the towel around his shoulders. "It would be ideal." She admitted, returning to his bags and fishing out his toiletries. Finding his shampoo she poured a little into the palm of her hand before returning to work on his hair. "But at what cost is the issue." She had to admit that she was very well and certain if Williams birth mother had managed to get rid of his Grace then it had cost her her soul. She was new to the whole mother thing, wasn't even certain if she actually qualified as one just yet, but she knew without a doubt she'd make the same deal; trouble was, she knew there were at least two people within the colony, likely three, that would follow suit and ruin their own lives.

"I wonder if the Grace alone would be enough of a deal." She murmured as she stroked her fingers through his hair, lathering it enough to loosen the debris and gnarls left behind. "Pass me your comb?" The information was all too new to really think of, and the time Ash had spent possessed by the demon she had chosen to 'forget'; suppressing it. Part of her wanted to peak within, search to find if she had any of the knowledge that would be useful, but she did not wan to relive the months she'd spent powerless within her own body.

"Well won't they be pleasantly surprised when you show up with the guest of honor," Will remarked with a devious smirk. He had little doubt that bringing Mackenzie along would cause no small amount of awkwardness at the celebration, especially among certain Councillors. The knowledge didn't cause him to hesitate for a second. They needed to see the woman they had nearly put to death, see the crime they had nearly committed. If they saw it as him throwing his lot in with her, all the better.

Locking eyes with Mac, he spoke slowly, "Well, girlfriend-slash-aide, what do you say? Ready to go face Elijah's adoring fans, maybe score a decent meal and make the Council uncomfortable while we're at it?"

upload_2017-7-7_14-9-8.jpeg
Elijah could hear the contemplation in Ashley-May's voice as she worked at lathering up his hair. He hoped she wasn't considering the same deal William's mom apparently took, though he doubted she would. As for whether Mur would be receptive to extracting the Grace without her soul... that was another matter entirely and one he didn't know the answer to. Even if he did go through with it, it would still leave him -- a demon -- with a very powerful weapon. That was hardly an ideal situation, even if he did keep his end of the bargain and eliminate the Pack.

When Ashley-May asked for the comb, he nodded lightly, reaching over to grab it with his free hand from the bag before passing it to her. When he did so, he gently placed his hand on her wrist. "We'll find a way, Ash. I promise," he said quietly, his eyes meeting hers as his thumb rubbed gently along the line of hand before he suddenly pulled away, averting his eyes as he felt a warmth in his cheeks.

Emile stated they were going to get in without a fight, and Chase couldn't help but not believe that but he wouldn't question the man since it was clear Emile wasn't going to tell him how. "Yeah I had a feeling your inside guy was human, I doubt I would have missed another wolf inside the colony."

"Do you really think you'll convince them to work with you against this First Sin after you've infiltrated though?" He asked curiously, it was a decent question. The council has been telling everyone the the pack was going to attack them, that they are the enemy. People aren't usually willing to work with an enemy, especially based on some prophecy.

"A few packs actually." He corrected himself, turning to side-eye the teenager as she lost herself in thought. His beer was still three-fourth's full but he pushed it forwards on the bar to be discarded because he knew he'd be driving at some point. The man turned on the stool so that he was facing Andy with one elbow propped against the bar, "So, you want me to help you stop your..." Joe knew better to say killing among a bar, eyes glancing to the nearest patrons, "...ailment. I want to, but you are going to have to start talking."

"Born ready." She laughed at the thought the shock may bring to some of the Councilors. She was aware what she represented to them; they had failed to help her, to help Borseti time and time again, and still was walking, speaking, breathing evidence of what happens to a colony that collapses under the weight of a pack. She stole one last kiss from his lips before she shifted to leave an arm wrapped around his waist, body leaning against his side. She walked with him towards the front of the house, "Where did you leave the beaver tails?" She glanced up to him, "Or do you want to keep those for ourselves?"

Ashley-May watched Eli's expression wide eyed for a moment as he seemed very adamant about his statement. He released her but she continued to watch, witnessing the flush on his cheeks. She smiled then, leaning inward to give his cheek a quick peck. "I know." She had all the faith in Eli, Will and Ash that they would sort out what ever they needed, she only worried at what cost. She returned to her work on his hair, now combing though the suds and de-tangling the mess that it was. She didn't want Eli to dwell on what she had said; she wasn't Mac in any sense, there wouldn't be a time that she would think she could do this alone. She would never run off to try and fix it herself.

"So Mac seems pretty sure I'm having a girl." She said, rather blandly. "But I'm pretty sure Oracles don't work like that." She nudged his shoulder with her elbow, "What do you think?"

Emile gave a little shrug, returning to drinking his beer. Once the bottle was empty he set it aside. "The Council, they lie to their people. They no tell them what comes." He stuffed a curl of meat into his mouth as he continued, pouring himself a bit of whiskey into one of the glasses Chase brought. "They do, they don't, we try." He grinned to Chase. "But you, you can tell the truth. You were one, are one?" The context seemed to confused him a moment; he assumed the man still had come loyalties to the colony given his father was still within.

"If they no listen to you, maybe their Prophet tell them? We speak to Manitou," Emile raised his left hand to the sky as he spoke the name. "We ask him to speak to Colony Prophet, tell colony what we know."

William paused mid-step Mackenzie's question, turning to stare at the dish he had left on the table and the pastries on top of it, which he knew from experience to be nothing short of delicious. It seemed a shame to waste them as a simple "thank-you". After a brief moment of conflict, he sighed. "Better take a 'peace offering'," he mumbled, reaching for the dish. "But one for the road won't hurt," he said, grabbing one of the pastries and hastily chewing it with an expression of obvious delight.

"Someone's enjoying himself," Adelaide's voice rang out as she entered the room with a smirk. She turned to look at Mac, "I can't believe you got him to stoop to eating sweets."

William fixed Adele with a defiant glare and -- for emphasis -- placed the last bit of the pastry in his mouth and swallowed it down. "People change, Addy."

The witch raised her eyebrows. "Uh-huh. Where are you two off to?"

"The celebration down the way... it's, ah, for me and Elijah actually. Sort of a thanks and housewarming thing, I think." He paused. "You want to tag along?"

Adelaide paused briefly, eyes flicking between Will and then to Mackenzie before she smiled. "No, I think I'll get some rest. Maybe I'll drop by later."

upload_2017-7-7_18-1-44.jpeg
Elijah's flushing only grew more intense when Ashley-May kissed him on the cheek. He knew he shouldn't read much into the simple gesture between friends, but it was too late for that. The warmth in his cheeks had already spread and Ash's gentle ministrations with his hair weren't helping things.

When Ashley-May nudged him lightly, he turned to face her again, trying to act his usual self. "Well," he began, his tone thoughtful. "Truth be told, I don't know if that's how Oracles work or not either, but don't tell Mac I disagreed with her," he said, eyes flicking toward the door for a moment out of instinct. "But as for the baby... I think it'll need to be a boy to balance out the female energy in our new accommodations now that Adelaide has upset the balance," he said with a grin. He paused. "Do you want to know? I mean, before the time comes?"

Hypnos looked Malcolm as he voiced his distrust that he could do anything. " As a matter of fact the only reason that the First Sin isn't actively trying to break his prison is because I keep him comatose. The only issue is that unless something is done by power will run out soon enough and the First Sin will break himself free. If either of your factions know anything about sealing magic or strengthening spells it would be a great help in making sure that the beast doesn't wake up and break free." Hypnos said looking between the two of them as he spoke about defenses.

Chase nearly choked on his drink when Emile spoke of Chase being the one to convince them. There was a small sputter before he slowly wiped the drops away from his mouth and looked up at the man with raised eyebrows in confusion. "You want me to try to talk to them?" It was asking a lot even if Emile wasn't aware, which Chase assumed he was but the Alpha hadn't batted an eyelash. It meant possibly putting himself out there for everyone, including a ton of hunters, to know what he was, there'd be no more hiding he was a Werewolf. The concept was both relieving and a little terrifying. Maybe he could play it off as if he was still a hunter or human who was just backing a prophecy, but he suspected that Emile and the pack wouldn't like that that unless it worked. The colony wouldn't listen to him though. Arguably he was the bridge, both hunter and Wolf like many of the pack members.

Admittedly Chase was still hoping to prevent this entire thing though he didn't see it as likely. If this First Sin was an actual threat then it would be beneficial for all for Vitae and the Pack to work together but neither the Vitae Council nor Emile were going to back down on this.

"Manitou?" He'd ask following the direction Emile pointed, up at the sky. "That your god? Can he just shove visions into other Oracles to?" The Oracle concept wasn't one he was familiar with other than Mac was supposed to be Hypnos's oracle, he'd just assumed she only got visions from him.

Mackenzie smiled as pleasantly as she could to Adelaide as she had caught them on the way out. Once more Mac learned something new about Will; he hadn't bothered with sweets prior to her, and another thing she wasn't really sure if the change was good. Alcohol, women and sugar is what Mac brought Will, and for her? Clarity, shelter and feeling of home. She certainly won out in that trade. She wanted to pinch Will for inviting her with them, but she kept still and quite as the two discussed it, thankful when Adelaide chose to remain inside and sleep. She wondered then if Hypnos would visit her and twist her dreams like he had her own and Will's.

"Good night." She said and turned towards the door without a second glance. Pleasant, mildly civil; Mac did not feel the need to be overjoyed with Will's ex's presence.

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May laughed as Eli glanced to the door way, like Mac was lurking outside. She found it highly amusing that Eli feared Mac in a sense, though she knew the reasoning behind it. She had seen Mac's rage; uncontrolled and fierce. Whatever Eli had seen was only a glimmer of what Ash had witnessed in the past. "Promise, your secret is safe with me." So Eli wanted a boy, for balance of course, but she smiled at the thought. Done with the comb she rinsed it in the warm water before setting it aside, taking up the cloth to rinse the soap from his hair. She considered his question as she finished up his hair. "Well, I'd like to say I want it to be a surprise, but really I would never be able to wait that long. That, and I'd want to know what it is so I could, you know, buy things." The idea of having a tiny blue nursery set up made her smile.

Malcolm glanced towards Emile where he still conversed with Chase, this was really a conversation to be had with the Alpha. He turned back to Hypnos. "We do as our god dictates. What our god wants. He wants us to survive what comes, and gives us the knowledge of how to prepare." He turned to the Kitsune. "While I'm certain it is all well and good to try and prevent it, why haven't all the gods started working together on this? It seems to me that some gods know it is a loss already."

Emile could see the doubt in Chase's face, but he knew better. Chase wasn't his only connection to use with the Colony, but he could be a vital part of it. He was soon questioning his god and Emile smirked. "Manitou is all," He said as though that would explain everything. "Manitou et vie. Life. Spirit. He here, now, we talk. He in ground, grow trees. He is all things. He can give Vitae Prophet visions, mais le Orcale god may not like it much." He shrugged, it wasn't a bother to him if the other god and Oracle were annoyed by it.

He took up his whiskey and sipped at it, considered what he wanted to say next carefully. "The pack like you," He said slowly, "They think you good part of our future." He gave a slight grimace, alcohol clearly starting to have an affect on him. "I think this too."

She sighed a little and drank the rest of her drink, "I didn't ask for the first body, I didn't kill her, a friend did and that was my first heart.... I ended up killing a few more times since the animal hearts didn't really work as such.... I don't like doing it..." A tear fell down as she remembered all the screams and cries of her victims, though she couldn't help but to feel a victim herself. She was quick to wipe it away and started to get a little angry though at nothing, perhaps going a little mad in the head. "Anyway... You weren't the only one who I guess looked after me a little.... He was almost like a father to me, he looked after me...." She became a little tense at the realisation that he might have to kill her or she would have to kill him.

William nodded to Adelaide. "Goodnight."

She smiled at the two of them, "Have fun, you two," she said before turning to walk back to her room. William took the plate of pastries in his free hand, walking with Mac out the front door and toward the cul-de-sac, where sounds of conversation and music could be heard.

"No turning back now," Will said, squeezing Mac's shoulder. "If they want me to give a speech, I'm going to fake a stroke. Just go with it," he remarked with a smirk. "And stay close to me. Maybe together we'll scare off any would-be minglers." He paused, shrugging slightly. "Sorry, I have a little practice with this. Just not in a while."

upload_2017-7-7_22-33-7.jpeg
Elijah smiled as Ashley-May gently scrubbed at his hair. The contact relaxed him, he felt the tension draining from his muscles -- stiff from spending so long in bed. "I don't think you'll need to buy much of anything judging by Mac's little gift," he said. "Not even a week along and she's already spoiling the child." He turned his head as much as he could without interrupting her work in order to make eye contact with her. "I might end up doing the same," he said lightly. "If it ends up being a girl, god help her future boyfriends. Between William and Mac, they have their work cut out for them."

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie laughed as they wandered towards the gathering of people noting that most of the Council seemed to have families with children...lots of children. Of the houses within the cul-de-sac, numbering around ten, there had to be at least forty people including their kids, mingling around the barbecues and picnic tables. As they approached she started to regret her choices: it was one thing to start down those that voted against her in the Command tent, it was another to be flippant in front of children. There were something's even Mac wouldn't do.

As they came closer to the gathering some of the Councilmen paused in their conversations to watch them, most looked rather surprised that she was with him, with them. But others simply chose to ignore them both and turn back to what they were doing. Jon Diffey made a point of rising from sitting in his camping chair. "Hendrix!" He called, the older gentlemen coming forward with a woman at his side. "Councilmen Hendrix, my wife, Martha." The woman smiled to Will before glancing to Mac. "And I already know who you are. My you are the spitting image of your mother, isn't she Jon? Just like Mackenzie -same eyes and that hair! Only difference was your mother was so tall..." The woman was still pleasant, no malice in her voice, she continued. "Skye I haven't seen you since you where, what Jon? Five? Six years old?"

Diffey nodded then. "Five, because Brody had just turned fifteen, you remember? He stole his father's car and drove from Borseti to the movies with that girl... What's her name, Emily? Emma?" The two frowned, neither able to recall the name. "Well anyways, Skye," Martha continued. "When Jon told me you had come here a few days ago, well I was happy to hear you were still doing well. You two should come by for dinner one night."

Mackenzie was at a loss. She stared blankly at the older couple as they went on. She couldn't recall ever meeting either Jon or Martha, though she did remember the day Brody had stolen her fathers car. Brody hadn't walked right for a week after their father was done with him. He hadn't cried to whimpered through the whole thing, and afterwards, when Malcolm left the house. Their mother had made them all treats even though Brody was being punished.

With Elijah's hair sufficiently cleaned, she wrung out the cloth and returned to nudge at his side, encouraging him to shift as far as possibly to one side so she could access his back. "Well, she... or he, will be luck to know you guys. To have you all around." She meant it, heart swelling hearing Eli confess he would spoil her child. "But there has to be some limits," She chided, once side of his back done, she helped him shift so she could access the other side. "Otherwise we'll be stuck with a brat and no body wants that." In this new position she was leaning slightly over him, one arm slipped behind his shoulders to lend support so he wouldn't have to strain to stretch his core muscles whilst the other gently stroked along his skin with the damp cloth. She laughed quietly as he mentioned boyfriends. "Oh goodness. Now I'm hoping for a boy. I don't want Mac teaching a girl anything from her repertoire." She wished she were joking, but she had dated Mac after all, and boys were the least of her worries.

William smiled politely as Diffey approached. When the elder man introduced his wife, and Will inclined his head toward her. "It's a pleasure, ma'am." He watched with mild surprise as Martha addressed Mackenzie warmly and with familiarity. He suppressed a frown when referenced her mother, calling her by name: Mackenzie. William had known that it wasn't Mac's given name -- Franklin always insisted on calling her Skye. He had assumed that "Mackenzie" was a middle name, or perhaps even a random false one she had chosen years ago to cover her tracks. Now he understood: it was her mother... the one she'd "lost" in a way that made his chest ache just to think about. Was the taking on of her name Mac's way of remembering her, keeping her close?

Regardless, he could only imagine the feelings that might come brewing up to the surface at the woman's mention. He turned to eye Mackenzie, seeing a blank expression on her face. He squeezed her shoulder in his best attempt to reassure her, his thumb rubbing gentle circles along her arm. As he did so, he addressed Martha and Jon. "We'll be sure to take you up on that invitation." After a brief pause, he added, "I wasn't aware the two of you had been to Borseti," he said.

Elijah obediently moved at Ashley-May's gentle direction, rolling onto one side as she dabbed at his back with the cloth. Feeling her arm slip behind his shoulders as she leaned over him while she worked brought the warmth back to his chest. He felt his heart rate increase, his breathing becoming slightly more shallow -- all at odds with the simultaneously calming effect she had on him. He'd never had anyone affect him like this, and he cursed himself for allowing her proximity to do so. She was being a good friend and doing her job as his doctor.

"Oh goodness. Now I'm hoping for a boy. I don't want Mac teaching a girl anything from her repertoire."

Elijah smiled at the remark, emboldened at least by the fact that he didn't have to face her directly in their current positions. Despite what he had just told himself, he was speaking before he knew it. "I wonder if Will would agree," he remarked. "Mac's tricks can't be all bad. She did manage quite the catch: smart, handsome, dedicated, medically-trained." He paused, before deciding to take the plunge. "...and they don't mind helping helping prideful grown men bathe to boot." He wanted to tell himself it was his usual humor, just easing the tension with meaningless flattery that would be received as such... but part of him knew better as he bit his lip, unable to turn his head, wondering if he'd gone too far.

Chase couldn't help but be a little amused at the Alpha's answer about Matinou. It was very spiritualistic, but he was never one to knock or laugh at one's belief's or perception on them. Chase himself never really bothered with any gods or a higher power. Sure there were angels, and he'd managed to meet two gods even since arriving at Vitae but that was just all very complicated. "Won't lie, not the religious type myself."

Seeing that Emile had started on the whiskey Chase decided to finish off his beer and poured a little whiskey in the other glass. He caught sight of the Alpha's expression as the man spoke, a little confused the the fact that it conflicted slightly with the words. In one foul swoop he downed what little whiskey he'd poured into the cup, wincing a moment as it made it's journey.

"If you say so, but I don't think I bring that much to the table. I think the packs just as good for me." Chase shrugged, he hated the compliments considering the reason why he'd come here and the deceit of it all. But Emile and the pack weren't exactly the enemy to him anymore, Emile was just trying to do what he thought was right. Chase told himself that's why he was doing this too, but he'd be lying if he wasn't conflicted. "From the sound of it, none of us will have a future if we don't work together. A future is worth fighting for though." He spoke softly, head resting back against the railing once again, staring off into space.

Joe scratched at the back of his head, to be honest he didn't see a way out of this for Andy. From the sound of things she'd already killed numerous people and consumed their hearts. One heart might have been something to fight against but she'd already gone so far down the rabbit hole he doubted she could survive without the hearts anymore. Those people she'd killed, their blood was on his hands because he'd made the decision to help her, to let her go and giver her a chance.

"To start with let's not go after any hearts. You just had one so I'm assuming you'll be good for a while." Well it was hard to say if the hunger for human hearts accelerated a Werewolf's appetite but Chase usually lasted days to a week before going out for an animal heart. Joe couldn't help but remember a conversation he'd had a few years back when they'd hunted down a rabid Werewolf who'd been leaving a trail of dead bodies, one nearly every day. The end had been bloody and both and he and his son had come out of it injured. But the incident had left an impression on Chase, and the younger man told Joe. If I ever get to that point where I eat a human heart, you know what you have to do.

It was clear Chase had been afraid of losing himself it happened, as afraid as Andy was now. "Why did you wait so long to ask for help? You know how it works, the more you eat the harder it becomes to get control. And who is this man you're talking about?" Despite the fact that they'd been in contact over the years it was clear as day that Joe didn't know a thing about Andy.

William's hand, the gentle squeeze on her shoulder drew Mac back into paying attention, lost in her own thoughts she forced a polite smile to Martha and Jon thankful Will was there to be social at least; had she been alone she wasn't certain how she would have reacted.

Martha nodded to Will's question. "Oh yes. Jon and I used to travel up there every summer for years, before Vitae was established. We knew all the families up there, but Mackenzie and Malcolm where the oddest pair. Nice folk to be sure," She glance to Mac briefly before continuing. "Like they married because the colony wanted it. Both of them came from long legacy lines. Malcolm was a Cannonach, family came from Scotland; lost of old hunting here. Mackenzie was a Booth, but her people had been hunting up North for as far back anyone could remember."

"The colony wanted them to marry, to have kids?" Mac finally found her voice; there was much she didn't know about the place that had been her home, only what she remembered and what her brothers told her; this was not part of it.

"Oh yes," Jon was answering in lieu of Martha. "Borseti was known for it's hunters: something big happening anywhere in the world, they were always the first on the spot. No matter the losses, or the danger, Borseti would show. They were reliable for sure." He paused, giving an almost grandfatherly proud smile. "Your mother, even though she wasn't on the Council there, was one of the finest hunters this world has ever known. I heard," He leaned inwards as though it were a secret but didn't speak and quieter. "That you've nearly matched her kill count, even with that mess up north with those vampires; I know personally, you're not matched in this colony."

Ashley-May laughed a little as Eli started to compliment Mac and the prowess she had; catching someone like Will. She slowly shook her head, continuing to work, but as he added the last portion she paused. At first confused, she couldn't envision Will bathing men at any point in his career; that was far closer to nursing. It took some long silent moments for her to understand he was speaking about her. Cheeks flushed deeply, and she cleared her throat, turning back towards the basin to soak, allow Eli to return to resting normally in bed. "You know, it's almost like you were flirting with me." She said, only half mocking, uncertain where she stood now. She was quiet convinced the Nephilim within was making her feel all sorts of wild things, beyond the insane hunger she had been experiencing.

She dried her hands and searched through the bag for a fresh shirt for him before turning back, hoping enough time had passed to let the color fade form her cheeks, but she had a hard time looking him in the eyes. "And I'd almost believe it too, if you weren't on so many drugs." She smiled, holding up the shirt so he could dress himself.

Emile nodded as Chase mentioned he was far from religious; it was not necessary for Chase to believe in any such god one way or another, so long as he paid his appropriate respects for Manitou. The deity had long since watched over the pack, older than most it was a rare occasion the god manifested itself, though he continually guided the pack and its Alpha's through the years, from the first to the last. Emile had vowed he would not be the last Alpha of this pack.

Drinking the last bit of his whiskey, he poured himself some more, seeing Malcolm speaking to a Kitsune and what he understood a Greek god. He looked back to Chase as the man seemed overwhelmed processing what he had learned today. He told a few pieces of remaining meat from the plate before leaning down to top up Chase's glass. "Drink, soon we play." He grinned, and pointed to the sky, "When dark games start. You learn more wolf things tonight."

William listened closely as Jon and Martha explained their previous ties with Borseti. He supposed he shouldn't be surprised, it would only be natural that those in the Hunting community might have history with more than one Colony. Still, what did surprise him was the news that Mac's parents were brought together in what amounted to an arranged marriage. Mackenzie hadn't talked much about her childhood at Borseti, but as soon as Will heard her ask about her parents -- and turned to see the expression on her face -- he understood that this was new information for her as well. He continued his gentle massaging of her arm, trying to keep an eye on her in case she had a particularly adverse reaction to the news.

"Is that sort of marriage... common, in the Colonies?" William asked Jon and Martha tentatively.

Hearing Ashley-May clear her throat and turn away from him, Elijah mentally kicked himself again. He knew he'd overstepped some line, possibly jeopardized their friendship. Turning to once again rest on his back, he paused when he heard her speak: "You know, it's almost like you were flirting with me."

Her tone wasn't angry, offended, or even uncomfortable. It was her same teasing demeanor mixed with... something else, far less joking. "Almost," Elijah parroted under his breath. Ash turned back around with his shirt ready and chalked it up to the drugs he was on. Lifting his arms gingerly to find the sleeves, after a moment's difficulty he managed to don the garment. She was offering him an out, whether she knew it or not. His first instinct was to take it without question, make some half-hearted excuse about how the drugs were the culprit, bringing out his flirtatious side and that it wasn't personal... but that would have been a lie. Instead, he took a route even he didn't expect.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," he said quietly, neither confirming or denying that what he had said was merely the result of the meds. "I'll, uh, shut up now if you'd prefer," Eli added, turning to look down at the sheets of his bed, clasping his hands together idly.

Jordan just sighed "The Kitsune could always retreat into our little pocket of the Universe but that wouldn't solve anything. We're trying to prevent something that would force us into hiding. Not hide and let it happen."
