Mackenzie would frown considering the complications the refugee camp would cause outside the walls.  "What about moving them away?"  She'd offer.  "If we can't house them inside the walls we certainly can't keep them there.  We could move them to a camp ground?  Since that's how they're living now anyways and the Pack won't bother with them if they're away until Vitae is gone; they want Hunters not mouths to feed."

While Mackenzie appreciated William being adamant about selecting her to assist him she still felt he needed to give the council a bit of leeway, "Maybe mention to the Council that this is temporary?  Until the Pack is handled one way or another."

Will nodded. "That was about all I could come up with: relocate them as soon as possible and hope the Wolves don't follow them."

He pauses in consideration, his tone taking on a thoughtful tenor. "If possible, I'd like to try and poach some of the more capable ones: experienced Hunters, ex-military. Offer them the chance to stay and fight in return for expedited entrance to Vitae after this all blows over." He mentally berates himself for that last phrase; it seemed to trivialize the onslaught coming their way, as if it was merely a bad storm or an inconvenience rather than something that could very well end Vitae. "Moving them away from danger takes precedence of course, but we can't turn down any able hands at this point."

Will began taking up the ice packs with an apologetic smile, placing them on the floor. "And as far as this arrangement goes, I'm way ahead of you. I already let Brendan know that I don't plan to hold onto the job. I'll make sure the Council understands that, too."

Mackenzie would wince and grit her teeth as he started to remove the ice packs from her back; she was mostly numb, parts of her back were tingling oddly.  "Thanks." She'd offer, she really didn't need Brendan believing she was staying, the man was kind but it was odd how much he cared about her.

"You might find some people to join the fight, but I'm not sure how many there are out there still; Brendan was pulling in everyone he thought capable to join, but here's hoping he missed a few juggernauts. We're going to need them."

"That we are," Will admitted quietly. "Luckily, it won't be the first time I've picked diamonds from the rough."

Will sighed. "I'll put the word out as soon as I can, make the rounds myself when the time comes -- see which ones are the real deal. After that... then we have to train them." He shook his head. "I just hope we have enough time to get them all combat-ready or close to it."

He shook his head, putting aside those concerns for now. "How's your back feeling now?"

Hypnos must have been pushing himself more than he had realized. As he woke up with a start only to find himself back within the dark realm of Erebos sitting on his golden throne. He was a deity of the night after all so in a way it made sense to Hypnos why he couldn't stay within the sun's bright rays for too long without endangering himself.

Surrounded by his children the Dreams filled him in mostly on what he had missed, but he was too tired to really understand what was going on with earth. " I need to get back up there..." Hypnos said barely fighting off his own influence.

Forcing himself back up the God of Sleep stretched and then walked out of Erebos, taking flight to the human world once more.

It would only take a few moments to reach the colony and manifest himself. The real problem was figuring out if he had missed the attack on the Colony. If he did then he was right in the middle of a trap, potentially with no way to escape.

"Training will the the issue." Mackenzie would agree, "but if Franklin will help, and the Council agrees, maybe some of his forces can help get ours into shape?"  of course she was not only referring to new recruits, though they would need the most help, but she was also talking of the existing hunter, some of them were growing thick around the middle in their old age.

She wouldn't move or bother sitting up once William was done removing the packs, having finally found a comfortable position.  She would frown slight and reply. "Good, though the places where the wounds are deeper lost feeling yesterday."  she would shrug, as though this were expected.  "It's probably nerve damage."  She'd experienced this in the past, with other sever injuries.

Will frowned at the statement. "Maybe. Let me or Ash know if that feeling begins to spread, even a little." It was very likely that Mack was right; low-level nerve damage wasn't unheard of with this kind of trauma. Still, there was little he or any medical professional at Vitae could do about that with the equipment and expertise they had on hand.

Hendrix turned to stare out the window. "I wouldn't turn down some help getting them in shape." He shook his head. "It seems like a lot of our bets are hedged on Franklin right now. I hope he likes what we have to say... and the Council sees reason where he's concerned." He looked back at Mackenzie. "The alternative is Hypnos's 'offer', which is still on the table," he remarked with a vague tone of distaste.

Mackenzie would nod, "Yes, sir."  giving William a smirk; his military atitude shining through brilliantly.  She would slowly and carefully roll her shirt back down her back before shifting on the couch, onto her side so she was facing him.

"So, what do we have to offer?" She'd ask him but she wasn't waiting for an answer.  Instead she'd raise a fist and lift one finger. "Franklin has not had Human allies outside of Toronto since Boersti died." a second finger joined the first. "He has no allies south of the border; this might be a deciding factor for him actually.  He wants more terriroty but it's next to impossible to push out in the north." a third finger raise. "You have me.  Franklin likes power and control and he will have been hating that he lost me.  We can use that."  A sly smile would cross her lips.

Will shifted in his chair, crossing his arms and giving Mackenzie a vaguely suspicious smile. "I'm almost afraid to ask, but what do you have in mind?"

Franklin sounded ambitious. That could spell trouble in the long run, but they didn't have the luxury to be choosy with their allies at this point. Besides, that same ambition would -- with any luck -- let them steer his decision in their favor. Regardless, he was willing to totally defer to Mack on dealing with the vampire; she was the one who had history with him, after all.

Mackenzie couldn't help but laugh at William's reaction.  "I can simple elude to the idea that I would be willing to leave the Colony and return north, once the Pack is dealt with."  She would shrug slowly, "As long as I don't out right offer or accept and offer, we're in the clear."

She wasn't a fan of Franklin returning to her life, but she was more than willing to play games with him.  "He'll be distracted when he gets here, first taking stock then assesing our worth." She would pause and frown.  "I need to keep Ashley away from him."  not something she had considered earlier.

William raised his eyebrows. "You think he's a danger to Ash?"

He didn't like the idea of Mack playing word games with someone who was clearly a potential threat, no matter what kind of background they had with one another. The fact that she felt it was necessary to keep Ashley clear of him was all the more worrying.

"I wouldn't say danger would be the term used, but he would see her a potential threat."  She sighed softly and would push herself up to sit on the couch facing him, in her typical fashion she would sit cross-legged, having short legs made sitting on furniture, certainly over sized furniture awkward and uncomfortable.  "I assume you are aware of Vampires and their mannerisms.  Vampires mate for life, Franklin is convinced I'm his mate.  If he believes I've chosen Ashley, or anyone else for that matter, things might not go the direction I, we, want."  Hands would idly pick at the soft material of her pant leg, it was uncomfortable to talk about with him, why?  She had no idea, but she'd continue.  "We've."  She'd pause, searching for the words, dark eyes looking up to his. "He and I, I mean, were never... err. Romantic.  The man was a father to me, a better father than my own for certain.  He wouldn't hurt Ashley, physically, but he certainly would attempt to drive her away, I just don't want her to have to deal with it, if we can avoid it."

Hypnos wandered the Colony for a bit trying to regain his faculties. Luckily night would be falling soon so he didn't have to worry about the sun. After a few moments of wandering aimlessly Hypnos caught sight of the house that William and the others had been using as a home last he had checked. Well if he was going to get information without causing the council to have a heart attack they were his best bet. Hypnos only hoped he wasn't walking into a carefully laid trap. In fact Hypnos wasn't even sure how much time he had been asleep. It could be that what was the Colony was nothing more than a ghost town.  While there certainly were people here Hypnos had barely noticed them as he wandered.

Taking a deep breath Hypnos knocked on the door and waited for a response. At the very least he could feel that his artifacts were still in there. So he would need to get them from who or whatever occupied the house.

Will raised a hand to his chin as he listened, doing his best to keep his face impassive and struggling with the effort. When Mackenzie finished, he opened his mouth to speak before closing it again. He had more than a few questions and no idea how to approach them. He was hoping he'd put the night's earlier awkwardness behind him, but now it was back in the blink of an eye. Forcing himself to remain as professional as possible about the whole thing, he gave speaking yet another try. "I'm familiar enough with Vampires and their hierarchies, but this is the first I've heard of a Den Master selecting a human as his mate, especially if the two of you didn't--" he swallowed deeply, suddenly his mouth was dry. "Weren't... together."

So much for keeping it professional.

Clearing his throat, he quickly attempted to head off this entire line of thought before he made a complete ass out of himself. "You know what? It's not important," he waved it away. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't pry. The important part is that we keep Ashley clear of this -- not just for her own sake, but to prevent any kind of complications for the dea--."

Will was interrupted as there was a knock at the door. Standing up, he moved over to slowly open it a crack, peeking outside. Hypnos was back... for better or worse. "Where have you been?" Hendrix asked flatly.

Mackenzie would groan inwardly after William walked away, tossing her head back against the couch and squeezing her eyes shut.  She felt like a moron, and idiot for saying anything about Franklin and his twisted beliefs, but something had made her want to tell Williams, as though he would need to know it, for his own good.  At least the knock at the door had drawn attention away from herself, and with William gone she would slip her boots back on; given the number of times she'd need to run around this damned place without foot ware, she wasn't about to be caught out again.  She'd pick up the melted ice packs from where they were discarded, she returned Williams chair to where he'd removed it, then went to the kitchen to toss the ice packs into the freezer, she was going to make good use of them going forward.

Hypnos smiled as he saw William answer the door. So far so good, it looks like he wasn't gone that long. Though that unemotional tone was a bit concerning to Hypnos. He could still be upset about Hypnos' deal with Mackenzie or trying to keep a straight face while an ambush got into place. Even though the risk was there Hypnos decided on the former and softly said, " I was asleep... in Erebos. Being in sunlight for too long isn't the greatest for my health. May I come in or is now not a good time?"

Hypnos could practically feel the heavy atmosphere in there. Of course he didn't need permission to enter the home, but he didn't want to be unnecessarily rude.

Will leaned against the door, staring idly at the god for several moments. Part of him wanted to turn him away, sure. But he knew he couldn't give into that particular bit of self-indulgence at this point; Hypnos did factor into one of their plans, after all. Hendrix relented, stepping aside and pulling the door open to allow the immortal entry. "Sure."

He had told Hypnos he was willing to give him a chance, so he would... until the god proved he wasn't worthy of it.

Now was as good a time as any for Mackenzie to look into what parts she would need to re-create the wolf trap they intended on using.  Satisfied she'd returned anything that was out of place; it wasn't her home after all and it would be rude to move things about with out the owners permission, if the owner was still alive, she would make her way towards the front door and pause.  Hypnos had arrive, she hadn't been aware he was gone, but being near him, and William in a small vicinity made her feel uncomfortable, it had only been hours since she'd witness William threaten the god, and hours since she'd asked for reprieve.  This was still on her mind, though she knew she had plenty of other items to settle first, she knew one day she would call on the god, but that timeline was wavering.

Hypnos nodded ," Thank you...." the deity said softly as he entered. Then he saw Mackenzie and smiled at her. She seemed to be doing well for the most part. He could still feel the sadness radiating off of the mortal. He could feel her pain to the point that it left a bad taste in his mouth, but even then his pleasant and gentle demeanor never deviated.

" It's good to see you again Mackenzie you look well... "Hypnos leaned against the couch and looked between the two humans, " So.... did I miss the werewolves?" Hypnos asked no longer beating around the bush. If this was all just some ploy to let William torture the sleepy God to death then he was ready for it.

MattLauria1.jpg

William shook his head. "No, not yet. Lucky you," he said. His tone betrayed no animosity, but it was far from warm. "Mackenzie and I were simply discussing our options. There's a Council meeting tomorrow. Speaking of which... how did they take to your offer?"

0d8cabe345d35506169fec17fa6d841c.jpg

Hypnos thought for a moment. So they didn't know. For some reason Hypnos figured the news of his offer would have spread through the Colony. Brendan seemed like a man who enjoyed his speeches, but it seemed that Hypnos misjudged him.

"They weren't that receptive to the idea, but if they are pushed into a corner I believe they will call on me."

Mackenzie saw no reason to be a part of this conversation, she wasn't going to be in the meeting, nor did she know about Hypnos' plans, and as such she'd quietly excuse herself and step out the front door, closing it behind her.  She would pause on the front stop, dark eyes ever watchful, she knew that William had given the all clear, but it paid to be overly cautious, if she hadn't she would have died a long time before.  She would slowly make her way down the drive to her car, pausing for a moment next to the drivers door.  She was going to look in and assess how much needed to be cleaned before they went to pick up replacements, but thought better of it.  One mental break down a day.

She'd move on, to the tailgate of the car's truck-like bed, she'd lower it before pushing back the cover.  There were loads of things stored safely on the bed, old things that she hadn't touched in years, and odds and ends she and Ashley had picked up on hunts.  She'd climb onto the bed and pull the first metal storage box near her, she needed to start somewhere.

"A lot of that going around these days..." Will muttered under his breath. He looked over his shoulder to see Mack leaving, probably out to get started as soon as possible. He looked back at Hypnos. "Just... stay out of trouble," he said, turning on his heel to return to the bedroom. Stepping inside, he saw Elijah sprawled out on his bed, but not asleep. His hands were interlaced behind his head as he relaxed, staring upward at the ceiling. His eyes flicked to Will as he entered.

"How's that lip?"

Will shrugged, already having wiped away the worst of the blood. "Nothing serious. Don't flatter yourself."

Eli chuckled. "And your little chat with Mackenzie?"

"Just discussing preparations for the Wolves. This vampire, Franklin... he sounds like quite the character."

Elijah's eyebrow raised. "In a good or bad way?"

"I don't know. Maybe both... probably both. But for now, he's all we've got," Will remarked wearily, moving to sit down on his own bed. The day was beginning to catch up to him, causing a fatigue that was more mental and emotional than physical... but every bit as exhausting.

Ashley would emerge from her and Mackenzie's bedroom, post shower and dressed in reasonably clean cloths, it would be the last time she trusted Mac to to the laundry, the woman wouldn't know house hold chore if it bit her in the ass.  Ashley immediately frowned seeing Hypnos was, once more, in her current place of residence, and she started to serious consider researching Greek wards just to see if there was a way to "ban" a god from entering a home.  Ashley would wander towards the living room, but seeing neither William or Mac she was left with two options; one, talk to the false god, or two, find either William or Eli.  She chose the latter.  She'd slip down the hall towards the men's bedroom and lightly knock at the door frame.  Door had been left open, but proper etiquette wouldn't let her bare in on them.

Mackenzie found a few items within the first crate that would work as part for her trap.  Extra items were returned to the storage containder before it's lid was closed and it was slid back into where it belonged.  Selected parts were set at the edge of the tail gate for later review, she may not be able to use all of them.  Second wooden box was dragged forward and opened and she had to pause, it was old, older than the rest and a faint smile would come to her lips, Douglas was all she could think seeing a hidden treasure within.

Elijah glanced at the door before waving Will down, standing up himself. Walking over, he pulled the door open and saw Ashley standing on the other side, apparently just out of the shower. "Evening. And to what do we owe this pleasure?" Eli asked lightly, already stepping aside in case Ash wanted to enter. Will, sitting upright on his bed now, gave the woman a nod as he waited for her response.
