Elijah arched an eyebrow at at Ashley-May's faux quandary regarding the Men (or Man) of Letters. He tried and failed to hide the smile that came easily to his face as she went to check on her patient, her movements as carefree and jubilant as ever. He marveled at Ash's ability to lower the tension in any given situation, to put him at ease.
Eli had just placed a difficult decision before her -- one that could decide all their futures amidst all the other unknowns floating around -- and yet the woman had found it in her to cheer him rather than stressing over it all. He knew better than to think that Ashley-May was being frivolous or not taking things seriously -- just the opposite. As if to prove his point she turned to address him again and he nodded with a smile. "I will," he said quietly before standing up and blowing the woman a kiss playfully. The news was too big to ever hide from his partner, not that he would want to despite knowing what the man's position would likely be.
