“Come on…please download!”

Minutes passed and yet the files continued to be stuck in the process of downloading, the little bar on the screen just ever so slightly hovering around the ninety percent line. Isabelle couldn’t let herself dawdle any longer than necessary, especially when there was still plenty of danger to be on the lookout for, Sephiroth’s clone excluded.

As if speaking to the computer would make it go faster, Isabelle mumbled to herself.

“Ninety-one…ninety-two…ninety-three…”

Only to soon be distracted by the sound of footsteps outside the room. She quickly pulled her head away from the screen, sliding from out of her chair and under the desk, ears alert to the muffled voices just beyond the walls.

“Anyone…gas the whole room!…detain them….”

Her eyes widened in fear. Wait, they weren’t going to-

A soft hissing noise and a peculiar scent forming in the air quickly confirmed her suspicions, as Isabelle hurriedly went to cover her mouth and nose. Whatever they were filling the room with was completely colorless, if she wasn’t so on edge already Isabelle might have not even picked up on it in the first place. Yet that’s what made it all the more terrifying. There was no danger to be picked up by the naked eye, yet it was clear that breathing the air would put an immediate end to the escape attempt.

Even so, holding her breath meant she was on a very short time limit to figure out how to get out of this situation. After all, she couldn’t just simply dash out of the room when the only exit was surrounded with guards. She was still one floor underground, so unless she was the likes of Resetti, there was no way she could dig a direct path to the surface. Like a cornered animal, Isabelle was trapped and only prolonging the inevitable.

Her face began turning red as her lungs cried out for oxygen, her eyes watering up as every second teetered her closer and closer to the edge. It was a losing battle through and through as her vision began to go dark. Her hazy eyes glanced back at the exit door, hearing panicked voices and footsteps on the other side yet far too out of it to discern their words. This was surely it for her. It may very well be better to just lower her hands and let herself breath in the gas, to get all of this over with.

And yet just as she began to pull her paws from her face-

*CRASH!*
Isabelle hurriedly covered her head for protection as the ceiling suddenly collapsed, raining fiberglass glass, plaster, and dust all over the room. No, not just that, there was something else, as her ears picked up on a rather painful thud and groan coming from whatever managed to fall through.

With some Hesitation, Isabelle looked up and was surprised to find it wasn’t an object. No, through the blanket of dust she could just barely spot the vague silhouette of a human body on the floor, which although certainly not a rare sight in this knightmare of a military base, was made all the more surprising when she heard the supposed body pull itself up from the ground. While the air was still too murky to make out any clear shapes, it was clear this wasn’t any of the armed soldiers. No, they were far too small and lacked any weapons on him. Or well, that later observation would be rescinded with a flash of light as two long objects suddenly appeared in the stranger’s hands. As they raised one of the weapons, a sudden gust of wind surrounded the two of them, ushering all the airborne dust and gas up and out through the hole in the ceiling, ridding the room of the awful gas.

Isabelle finally gasped for air, hacking and coughing up a storm after all her poor lungs had been through. In between her frantic breaths, she’d begin to raise her head to thank whoever this mysterious stranger was, only for her eyes to widen in shock at the sight before her.

A key shaped blade in hand and eyes as blue as the sea.

No, it couldn’t be…could it? As her eyes continued to move up to face the boy Isabelle could already her mouth curling up in a smile. Only for that smile to fall right back down as she took notice of the boy's hair.

The boy’s blonde hair.

A second glance over would continue to poke holes into her assumption. Like a funhouse mirror, the traits were still there yet ever so slightly warped it bordered on the uncanny. One side of Isabelle wondered how she could have even made such a mistake and yet the other still couldn’t help but wonder if the person before him was somehow actually who she’d thought he was. But no, as the boy groaned in an unfamiliar voice, Isabelle did away with any hope that this was him. Though even if he wasn’t, the stranger still had saved her life, and for that she couldn’t be any more thankful.

She pulled herself from under the desk as the strange boy finally addressed her, warning her that outside a man with white hair was planning to destroy the facility.

“A white haired man? But that can’t be right, I thought the clone-“

Isabelle’s heart sank into her stomach.

“But that would mean that the real one…he’s really here!?”

As if one cue the room began to shake ever so slightly, further proof of the battle above ground.

The blonde boy struggled to stand as he cautioned her to finish whatever she was doing and flee. Her eyes lit up as she remembered her initial task.

“Ah, the files!”

Scrambling into the chair, she was relieved to find that instead of the dreaded loading bar, the screen informed her that the files had successfully been downloaded. In a single swift motion she’d unplug her Nookphone from the computer and stored it into her pocket.

But was it really alright to run? A quick glance back at the exit revealed it to still be eerily silent. After all, if the real Sephiroth was here they surely had more pressing issues to deal with compared to a minor escapee. Still….she glanced back at the boy struggling to stand. Going against his own advice, the boy didn’t seem to show any intentions of actually leaving, a fact which deeply troubled the little secretary.

“But…but what about you?”

The remaining soldiers looks in awe as some random kid showed up to engage Sephiroth and not long after that, Lunaris himself had appeared and was soon engaged in combat with the One-Winged Angel.

"Well, will you look at that...A blonde skater and Lord Lunaris himself came to save the world from utter annihilation."

"Whoa, my prayers were actually answered! Minus that blonde kid, I don't know who that is. I like his style though."

"That kid's literally wearing chess patterns..."

"Hey! . . . Chess is cool."

"Yea, cool to play, not to wear."

"Well, questionable fashion sense aside. If that kids has to guts to tango with Sephiroth then what the hell is our excuse?"

" . . . . Don't some of us have families to think about?"

"Those guys are gone. I meant us. Right here, right now. That kid probably has a family of his own and he's not letting that stop him from throwing down with one of the strongest recorded Smash Brothers. We might be going to hell, no doubt about it, but I would rather do one good thing before I clock out. So lets get our weapon systems back up and lets cover that kid and Lunaris and stick it to pretty boy up there!"
The soldiers scramble to get to their positions as they begin to mount their assault on the One-Winged Angel. The ship itself now has weapon systems and turrets lit up and ready to fire. They are all giving it their all, firing anything and everything that they can make a hot shot.

It was hard to miss the smile Isabelle wore as she looked him over. It was one would often wear upon seeing a friend. The look disappeared quickly though. Roxas could only assume the reason why: he wasn't the person she thought he was. In a way, it hurt, but the Nobody knew better than to let such feelings linger. Besides, it hinted that this individual might know Sora just like his previous companions had. Clearly his other half had made quite a name for himself in this world if he was so well known.

Ignoring that thought for now, Roxas allowed himself to fall silent as he turned his head up towards the hole in the ceiling. While the sounds of battle echoed through it, it was difficult to get a proper idea as to what was occurring. All he could tell was someone or something had jumped into combat to take his place. Perhaps he should be grateful, though he found no such feeling coming to him. If anything it only fueled him more. This may not have been his fight to take, but he still felt responsible for doing his part in it even if he was beat up. He had to push himself, maybe then his real strength would return. Was that even possible? He'd have to find out.

Roxas' gaze remained on the gapping hole until he heard Isabelle's voice again. Only then did blue orbs shift back to meet the secretary's gaze. Her question caused him to bite down on his lower lip as he racked his mind for what to say. His answer was clear, yet it felt wrong to come out and say it given the concern that was written all over her face. He couldn't blame her for worrying. His condition was rather poor, though that was for him to worry himself with, not her. Her only concern should be to escape and get as far from this place as she could.

"I... I plan to return to the fight..."

Despite his usual confidence, those words lacked it. As stubborn as Roxas was, he was aware of his current limitations. His strength wasn't even half of what he was used to, yet he had to make do. Perhaps it was a side effect from him somehow splitting from Sora once again. It wasn't as if he was sure, but he was sure he could regain what was lost. His keyblades returning to him was enough proof of that.

Not letting his mind delve too deeply into thinking upon it, Roxas lifted Oblivion from its place. Such an action caused him to briefly stumble, but he quickly caught and steadied himself. "I can help you get outside, but after that you'll have to go on your own... I have to protect this place if I can..." The determination that had been ever present in his eyes seemed to dim as he spoke those words and a tinge of sadness replaced it. "I was traveling with someone who was trying to get here, but we got separated... If he's somewhere in here, I have to buy him time... He said he'd help me find someone I was looking for after all."

Did he want to actually find Sora? Roxas still was unsure of that, but even so, he needed to know if the other was actually awake. He needed that burden off his own mind, though it hardly eased the pain that had stemmed from his ties to the other. What would he even do once he found Sora? Thinking of it was more than enough to cause a flurry of emotions to burn in his chest. Those feelings could wait for now. He still had work to do if he even wanted to reach such a reunion. Even so, he couldn't help but let them slip out.

"The way you looked at me before... you know him too... You saw him when you looked at me... You saw Sora..." he breathed out as his brows furrowed, showing a slight hint of displeasure. Despite his anger making itself present, his eyes betrayed such emotion. The sadness still lingered in them.

A sharp sigh slipped between Roxas' lips before he abruptly pulled his gaze away from Isabelle. Anything else he had left to say on the subject of Sora quickly washed away. It wasn't worth his breath to continue. Besides, it was clear it was a rather touchy subject for the Nobody, even if he tried to act like it wasn't.

"Anyways... I'll let you decide- do you want me to get you out of here... or are you alright on your own?"

Toon Link & Pit
Where: In the sea
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy )

Toon Link nodded to Mythra and ran ahead to the dinghys. The captive sailors were already piling into the boats and lowering them into the water, panic lending speed to their efforts. As the stern half of the galleon tilted backward and began to sank, Toon Link felt the wooden deck begin to fall beneath his feet, and he made the leap to the nearest empty boat. He landed ungracefully, head first, into the jolly boat and grunted as it plummeted into the sea.

On the bow half of the sinking galleon, Krook's blood red eyes blazed insanely as he swung his sword and charged at the attacking Zola. The Super Smash Brothers have been entirely forgotten. "Filthy, traitorous fish! I'll make fillets out o' yer! I'll be dinin' well in Davy Jone's Locker!"

The Kremling pirates realized there was no use trying to reason with their Kap'n'. They looked to each other, shrugged, then threw themselves over the side and into the sea. The Black Scourge was lost; it was every man for himself!

The first rays of dawn began to peek from the horizon as Toon Link stirred and sat up, shaking his head clear before getting his bearings. The Black Scourge was completely gone, the evil ship having sunk to the sea. All that remained were floating debris, and Kremling pirates clinging onto it to keep themselves afloat. Kap'n' Krook was nowhere to be seen. All was silent.

Toon Link's eyes widened. His friends! Getting onto his feet, he cupped his hands to his mouth and called out as loud as he could.

"'HOOOOY!! 'HOOOOOOOOOOOY!"

The little Hylian took out his sister's spyglass and put it to his eye. Surely Pit and Mythra survived! They must have! They were warriors of the Super Smash Brothers, after all!

Toon Link spotted something glimmering. He put away his spyglass and immediately grabbed the oars, and made haste. The swordsman soon found Pit floating on a piece of wood, sunlight from the rising sun reflecting off his wings. Toon Link called out to the angel and patted his cheek in an attempt to revive him. Pit soon stirred, raising his head and staring dazedly at the boy.

"'M fine, T'ink, just one question: Who's Pit?"

Toon Link giggled in relief and helped his friend onto the dinghy, only managing to get him halfway over the side. His giggling increased as he commented that Pit looked like a drowned seagull!

As much as Pit felt like a drowned seagull, he didn't appreciate T'ink's comment, and the indignity seemed to snap him out of his stupor. Pit pulled himself inside the little boat, jumped up, and flapped his wings to rid them of water, sending droplets everywhere. He then straightened, trying to neaten the ragged remains of his pirate disguise. Even in the most dire situations, an angel captain must always keep his uniform on point! His irritation soon became gratitude, and Pit's own relief was great when Toon Link reunited him with his bow.

"Thanks, T'ink. Where's Pyra?"

Toon Link's concerned expression told Pit all he needed to know. Both boys began calling out for the Aegis.

"'HOOOOOOOOOOY!!" "PYRAAAAAA!! MYTHRAAAAAA!!"

Pirate and captive alike floated miserably as they silently processed the chaos and terror of the night. Curiously, not a single Zola was in sight!

To say it was going well after what he had just witnessed would be an outright lie, one doesn’t witness the potential end of a world by divine wrath and think it’s all going to be all right.

Even from the Moderate distance between the meteor and the little spire he had begun his little one-man siege upon, the ground shook, and an eerie red glow snaked across the landscape as if an eclipse signalling the coming of a mad God, only to meet the wrath of the preestablished heavens as if it desired to strike down the interloper upon its domain, The golden spheres released their mandate of destruction which halted the earthen sphere of the apocalypse, only after the floating castle halted its path did he release the breath he had started holding.

He clenched his fist soon after, the Symbol of the Triforce of power was burning upon it as if wanting to challenge the forces clashing for supremacy as if it would not let others potentially outshine it, instead of following up on it he clamped down on the feeling in an attempt to smother it out, for in his mind it was nothing but one of the many strings of his predestined fate attempting to tug him to his own early demise once again as it had done many times before.

He would not let it for in this land he had already achieved a power greater than the Triforce of his homeland, the power of Freedom, the strings of his fate had long been revealed to him and in this land, they had no direct power over him, whereas in his homeland he would have to fight them for control of his own destiny, in this world they had to fight him to just have the chance to influence him.

With a flourish of his cape, he turned back towards the entrance of the ruins for he had no power in his possession capable of meaningful effect on either party waring for the heavens, he had to keep his vision on what lay ahead, for these ruins that stirred the memories of the spirit temple of his homeland may have the chance to hold the key to one of his desires, and as he had done before he would chase that chance to the ends of the world for even without the strings of fate guiding his hands Ganondorf was not a man who gave up on his desires.

The dark loomed ahead as the scattered torchlight was his only companion he began his descent upon the place with a grim determination for the world was on a potential countdown to destruction and he needed either a way out of this world or a way to prevent its end, whereas before he let the scattering of opponents amuse him he no longer had the time for every second now counted and you don’t live long in the desert being wasteful.

Watching Toon Link take off ahead, Mythra's attention momentarily moved back towards Krook, though it didn't linger for long. He had long forgotten about his fight with her and had moved on to deal with other matters. That worked for her. It made an opening for her own escape, or at least an attempt at one.

Turning on her heels, the aegis began to move in the direction the Hylian had taken off in, though it didn't go as smoothly as she would have liked it to. As the ship continued to fall apart and begin sinking, a pair of pirates jumped at her, their blades held high. If they were going down, they planned to take her with them. She didn't have time for things like this. It was already becoming to steep to run up, let alone fight, yet it seemed she had no choice if she wanted to continue forward. Both kremlings flew at her and with one swift dodge, Mythra avoided their attacks and watched them plummet into the sea below. She'd be next if she didn't start moving.

Her pace quickened and her strides widened as she pushed on, finding herself drawing closer and closer to the break in the ship. With one last jump, she grabbed onto the splintered edge and held on for dear life. If she didn't pull herself up now it'd be no use. She'd never make it to the safety boats.

Forcing her blade to disappear from her other hand, Mythra grabbed hold of the ledge with both hands and struggled to pull herself up. Her feet pushed against the deck in attempt to help pull herself up, but with the waves beginning to lap away they only slid out from beneath her. It was no use. Reaching the other side was not an option- not in this manner at least. A grimace formed on the blonde's face as her feet slid off the wall they were desperately pushing against. This was it. She couldn't hold on any longer.

SPLASH!

Having lost her grip, Mythra vanished into the dark waves below. The wild currents were quick to take her prisoner with no regard, forcing her deeper than she would have liked. Forced into the depths, her crystals began to glow, providing her a small source of light, though it wasn't much, it was enough to see the debris falling directly around her. Bits and pieces of the ship fell deeper, some nearly hitting the aegis on their descent. She needed to move quickly if she wanted to avoid one, running out of air, and two, being knocked unconscious by a stray board.

Swimming her way upwards, she slowly made her way towards the surface. It was a long process though and the longer she was forced to stay beneath the waves, the more her lungs screamed for air. She needed the surface and now! Frantically quickening her pace, Mythra moved with anything but grace. Such things didn't matter now anyways- not when she was faced with drowning into some unknown sea never to be found again. Desperation clung to her as she pushed onward and that desperation would pay off.

Breaking the surface once more, she gasped for air as her arms flailed about to keep her afloat. In her current condition she wouldn't be able to tread water for too long. Her legs felt weak, much like the rest of her body. It was crying for a break, though the aegis couldn't give it one, at least not until she was safely afloat. Her panicked mind raced as her slightly blurred gaze flickered about in search of some form of safety.

"W-wait! Don't t-take off y-yet!"

That voice, it sounded vaguely familiar though Mythra couldn't wrap her mind around it. Luckily she didn't need to. Before long, she felt several pairs of hands grab her and pull her up from the water into one of the escape boats. Before she could even register the friendly deed though, the voice spoke again: "O-oh thank goodness you're a-alright!"

Blinking, the aegis blankly stared up at the woman. It was the one that had spoken to her before she had been summoned to take on the Ghost Ship. She had been the one to rescue her. A faint smile formed upon the realization and Mythra struggled to sit up. "Thank you."

"N-no thank you. I-if it hadn't b-been for you and y-your friends, we would have never e-escaped!"

Dipping her head, Mythra decided not to argue. For just this once she'd graciously accept a thank you. Besides, it was rare. More times than not she brought destruction, even if she wanted to help. Her feel good moment would be cut short though as she heard her name called out above the whispers of the other escapees. Perking up, her head turned on a swivel until her eyes landed upon the boat containing her two friends.

"Could you take me over to them?"

"O-of course!"

After a quick talk to the man who had taken leadership of the boat, it was soon set on course to ride up next to the one the other Smash Bros were in. As it neared, Mythra slowly climbed to her feet and gave one last nod to the passengers before she carefully stepped over to join her friends.

To no surprise, she was in no better shape than either of her companions. She was dripping wet and her hair hung messily in her face. None of that mattered though. She was safe, and so were they, and it seemed most of the captives were too. It was a mission complete, well, kind of. Without a word to be said, the aegis dropped down into a sitting position and leaned back against the end of the boat.

"I guess that's taken care of, huh?" she finally blurted out. "What a pain in the ass though!"

Toon Link & Pit
Where: In the middle of the sea
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy )

Toon Link and Pit's smiles were as bright as the rising morning sun as Mythra joined them on their little jolly boat. They waved to the freed islanders before they, too, slumped down in the boat, their exhaustion hitting them harder than a blow from a Golden Hammer. For a long moment they lay there silently, allowing themselves to indulge in the peaceful morning.

Pit cracked open an eye to see Toon Link leaning against the side of the boat, staring gloomily at the horizon. Knowing what put a damper on the little swordsman's mood, Pit lifted his head and smiled reassuringly at him. "Aw, take it from a veteran, T'ink: no plan survives contact with the enemy." His head lolled backwards. "Where'd Jigglypuff even come from?"

Overhearing the conversation, one of the captive islanders, a young human man, spoke up, "You're not to blame, Super Smash Brothers; you saved us! It is us who failed you." The islanders were shamefaced as the man spoke. "You've risked your lives to save us, even going into that haunted ship for us, but when you needed us we didn't have the courage to fight back. We were cowards, and we're ashamed."

Pit's heart went out to the poor islanders. Despite feeling as though Cragalanche was sitting on him, Pit forced himself onto his feet. Pirate disguise in rags, wings ruffled and missing feathers, one eye bruised, and marker stains so smeared as to be indecipherable, he hardly looked the part of the angelic captain of a goddess's royal guard despite his earlier attempt to get himself in order. He took out his laurel crown, the symbol of his triumphs and rank, and placed it upon his head with as much regality as he could muster before addressing the other boats.

"Please, don't be hard on yourselves. We understand, really! Fighting wicked pirates and exploring haunted ships, it's all in the line of duty! We're happy to help! But now isn't the time to be faint-hearted. The Super Smash Brothers have returned! The others are out there, I can feel it! We know of the great evil that has gripped the land, and I give you my oath as an angel that we will triumph over it as we have triumphed over Tabuu, Galeem, and Dharkon! The Realm will be free once more!"

The faces of the islanders brightened, only to be darkened again when a cynical Bokoblin spoke up. "Yeah yeah, nice speech 'n' all, but as you can see we're floatin' in the middle o' nowhere! There ain't no tellin' how far from land we are, and we ain't even got food or water! So, mister angel, instead o' yer pretty words, why don't ye whip up a miracle that'll get us back home alive, eh?"

Pit smiled brightly at the dour Bokoblin. "I can't... but T'ink can!"

Realizing that he can, indeed, help, Toon Link jumped to his feet and took out his Wind Waker. The Ballad of Gales! That will get everyone back to the Alolan Islands safe and sound! The Kremlings floating on the water broke out into wails.

"Please! Please don't leave us behind!"

"C'mon, yer heroes, right? Ye won't leave a bunch o' poor shipless sailors ter drown at sea, will yer?"

"Please take pity on us! Did I mention I'm an orphan? I never 'ad a good role model!"

A smile and a wink passed between Toon Link and Pit, and they passed it on to Mythra. Friendly features becoming stern, Pit stared down at the Kremling pirates, his voice loud and heavy with condemnation.

"Tell me this, you foul pirates: how many innocent people have been in your very position, begging you and your wicked captain for mercy? How many? And did you grant it to them? Think about all the lives you've taken, homes you've destroyed, families you've torn apart! And you DARE beg for mercy?!"

The Kremlings were unable to meet the angel's eyes, which were like chips of ice floating in the cold northern seas. They moaned and cried pathetically, which the former captives found to be quite cathartic. Pit scowled and shouted at them in a tone he usually reserved for bumbling grunts and sleazy shopkeepers.

"I'll slay you all right now if you don't stop that blubbering! Do you hear me? SILENCE!"

The pirates shut up immediately, compelled by the authority in the captain's voice. Even the islanders found themselves tightly shutting their mouths. Pit allowed the silence to linger a moment to let the pirates stew before he pointed at them with his bow and passed his judgement.

"Count your blessings, Kremling scum, that I am NOT like you! You will swear to give up piracy forever and never hurt an innocent again! Do I have your promise?"

The krocodiles nodded vigorously.

"Yes! Yes! We promise!"

"We'll be good, honest krocs from now on!"

"I'll even go to church on Sundays! I swears on it!"

That satisfied Pit. Without looking to the Hylian, he gave his order. "Send 'em home, T'ink!"

Toon Link saluted and with a few swishes of his baton, the Kremlings were enveloped in a cyclone! The former pirates screamed as they were sent flying into the air until they were a twinkling star in the sky. Toon Link had a mischievous grin on his face. He was ordered to send them home; he wasn't ordered to do it gently! As Toon Link conducted the Ballad of Gales again to send the islanders (safely!) back to the Alolan Isles, he noticed Pit was still wearing a harsh glare. His bruised eye was twitching, and the Hylian had a hunch that his friend was very uncomfortable.

"It's... it's been over thirty years since I've had t-to use intimidation, T'ink," Pit explained, sweat beading his face. "I... I think my face is... uh... stuck. M-Mythra? Help! Please!"

How annoying. He put up a shield it may not do much but it’s senseless to let those bastards have their way. Sephiroth nods, understanding what he has to do next without a word he left. He stared at the mushroom tops that provided them shade. Just as he landed he moved the interference annoyed him those fools could only hope to win against him. Hell the only loss was against Zack Fair, the only man he had ever respected. Sadly he doesn’t sense his life force anymore which could mean one thing if he still had his mind together he would have gladly swooped in to save him from a terrible fate. He felt a little worked up, a bit angry that only the Doom Slayer was entertainment around these parts except it was his clone that did the work. He pinched his forehead. It's time to focus on his next plan, “ Mother, who do you have in mind for your new body?”

To her dismay she found herself separated by the group but that didn’t dampen her mood. “ Well shoot! I better hurry or I’ll be left behind!” No, she has her trusty psychic powers at her disposal. Paula sniped enemies left and right with a combo of her PSI fire and ice and with a little of PSI thunder there. She gave some of them a good whack on their noggins. It seemed like utilizing her abilities were wearing down their numbers. As soon as there none of them left to get in her way she took off. No sooner did she find Joker and the others she skidded to a halt. She took a moment to catch her breath. “ S-sorry I got caught up in a wave of monsters. Well I’m back.” She figured they’ll be heading off to the stadium soon. Everyone seems to be fine perhaps a victory.

Lord Lunaris
Where: Flying Citadel, over the Military Base

Lunaris was not surprised when Sephiroth threw up a magical shield and his arcane bolt bounced off of it. The sorcerer pulled his hands back to his right side and conjured a ball of energy between them. As he charged his next attack, however, Sephiroth left the battle. That did surprise Lunaris, but he quickly deduced that Sephiroth considered their battle to be a waste of time and was just going to let the meteor take care of him. Very well. Being underestimated wasn't an insult, but a boon. Sephiroth will pay for his mistake another time.

Looking up, Lunaris could see that his Golden Eyes were breaking chunks off the meteor, but at the rate they were going they would not be able to destroy it before it made landfall. With Sephiroth gone, he can put his full focus onto annihilating the massive space rock. The sphere of destructive energies fully charged, Lunaris released it at the incoming meteor. There was a BOOM and a chunk of the meteor broke off into small pieces, but it wasn't enough to stop it. The masked Hylian grunted softly. He was going to need all the power he could muster!

Once again his gauntlets came to life with magical energies. Deep within, Lunaris had a feeling that, once in a distant past, removing a meteor would have been a simple task for one such as him. Why the thought came to him, he wasn't sure, but he quickly dismissed it. It didn't matter right now. Placing his feet firmly on the marble balcony, Lunaris thrusted his hands forward in a pushing motion. The meteor's descent slowed! Lunaris grunted with exertion as he tried to force it back, but the firey rock was far bigger and heavier than a fallen Koopa airship. His body trembled as he struggled to stand his ground. He cannot let himself fall! He won't!

The shouts of the citadel's citizenry that their lord was fighting Sephiroth pulled Shiri from her grief. Worried for her master, she darted toward the tower like a tiny pink shooting star. Upon seeing Lunaris trying to force back the meteor, she cried out to him. "No! My Lord, you can't! Your body---!"

But Lunaris ignored her. Keeping his right hand extended, he clenched his left fist, pulled it back, then forced it forward in a straight jab. A massive gloved hand shot from the fist, flying toward Meteor and punching it so hard that a large chunk of it disintigrated. Roaring in defiance, Lunaris threw his right fist forward and another colossal gloved hand appeared to punch a second piece out of Meteor. The sorcerer threw jabs, hooks, and uppercuts as though boxing an enemy, and the two hands followed his exact movements, breaking down Meteor alongside the lasers fired from the Golden Eyes.

Its size now reduced, Lunaris pantomimed catching a ball in both hands. The large hands copied the motion and took hold of the meteor, and Lunaris cried out, feeling as though he was being crushed despite not physically holding the gigantic rock of fire. With one more scream of pain and defiance, he brought his hands back and thrusted them forward to throw Meteor back into the sky. He then made finger guns, and the projections of Master Hand and Crazy Hand fired bullets into the ascending rock until it broke apart in an ear-splitting explosion.

Cheers filled the air. Dodging space rock and dust as it fell toward the earth, Shiri hurried to the balcony where Lunaris stood. "M-my Lord..."

Lunaris was still standing though his body was quivering, a hand gripping his chest tightly. He raised his head to face Shiri, and the fairy could sense the smug, satisfied smile he wore behind the mask of silver and gold. Without a word, the Hylian Lord fell forward and collapsed upon the marble.

With Joker encouragement to keep at it, Agent Three gave a sharp nod and continued her fire. One by one salmonids and polygons were splatted, bursts of goopy orange against the green and brown landscape. Yet despite the numbers they’d already taken down, it was clear that the fight hadn’t truly turned in their tide. They all may have had the power and strength, but did they have the endurance to keep up with their numbers? A thought that persisted in Inkling every time her ink tank rang dry, forcing her to retreat back to replenish it before an enemy could catch her. Something that she had just avoided when a polygonal Jigglypuff attempted using Rest on her, mere inches away from what would have certainly been a certain KO. Yet thankfully, Inkling had been able to move away just in the nick of time, the foe merely falling asleep (if these things even could do such a thing) and Inkling knocking it back with her Inkbrush, sending the blocky pink blob flying off.

“Phew…”

Inkling wiped the sweat from her brow as she leaned against her weapon, a brief break before once more throwing herself into the fray. As much as she hated it, if they didn’t finish things soon, one wrong move from any of them could result in some real nasty trouble for them all. A fact further echoed by Morgana braving the frontlines to hurriedly heal an injured Noctis before making a mad dash to the back line once more. Yet, as Inkling glared at the remaining masses of enemies before them, beaklike teeth bared and brows furrowed, she shook away the part of her mind that cautioned against these unfavorable odds, instead focusing on the certainty that no matter what, they were going to make it out of this together.

A sudden ear splitting holler broke through the chaos of battle, and if she were a warm blooded creature, then her blood surely would have run cold in fear. Immediately, her eyes searched every crook and cranny of the arena for the source fearing the worst. And, when she finally did locate it, her worries weren’t quelled in the slightest. There stood Joker, the ghastly chains that once connected him to Arsene now all but shattered within the Phantom Theive’s gloved hands. The screams of agony only grew louder and louder as Inkling desperately began to rush past the crowds of polygons with her roller, desperately pushing her way towards the thief. Yet the distance between them was just too great, as before she could have even made it halfway there Joker’s persona exploded right before her eyes, tiny bits and pieces of what once was Arsene now raining down on the group in a glittery light.

Frozen in place, she watched in horror as Joker’s Thief attire melted from his form in a flurry of blue flames, leaving him defenseless to the crowds of enemies pouring in. Arm outstretched she screamed out, and for a brief moment the language barrier melted away as even through the garbled Inklish, the meaning was unsettlingly clear.

“JOKAAA!”

If Panther hadn’t been there to provide her reassurances then who knows what the agent might have done next. Yet, with Ann’s insistence and the matter of the nearby enemies, Inkling had no choice but to force her eyes away from the horrid sight and take her word for it. Raising her Splattershot, she shook her head and continued to push back against the polygons and Salmonids, teeth gritted as she forced herself to ignore her friend’s screams. It went against every heroic bone in her body but, if Panther was right (though even someone like Agent Three wasn’t foolish enough to miss the hint of hesitation in her voice), then what other choice did she have but to trust the other’s word. Inkling only had the barest semblance of how Joker’s powers worked. Was all of this merely another aspect of the frightening power that personas held?

The screaming came to an end as a gust of wind blew the crowds of foes away from Joker, even forcing Inkling to dig her feet into the ground to avoid being flown away. It was then that she heard her friend’s voice call out, and soon enough a freakishly tall black figure stood behind him. Despite the familiarity of such an entrance…this was no Arsene.

Seemingly made aware of this sudden shift, the polygon and salmon forces shifted focus, as they rushed past Inkling and the others, focused solely on the Phantom Thief. Yet as soon as they did an inky black dome of shadow swiftly fell upon the crowds, forcing each and every single one into a sound slumber. She would even have time to gawk as Joker returned to the group, finally giving out his next order. So, with a beaky grin and a salut she did just that, picking off the stragglers one by one alongside the others until there wasn’t a single one left.

1690765390540.png

The battlefield, void of the once dense crowds of foes, still held unmistakable signs of the battle that’d just occurred. Bullet Holes, scorch marks, puddles of ink, and plenty of power eggs littered the area. Inkling too was proof, being absolutely drenched in foul green Salmonid ink. Yet as she wiped away at the sticky globs, she found herself smiling. A smile that only grew bigger and bigger as Panther and Mona practically threw themselves at Joker in a tight embrace. And wouldn’t you know it, Inkling quickly followed.

As soon as the girl and cat released from the Thief Inkling crouched down into the ink below her, forgoing simply walking over to him. No, rather like a rocket’s liftoff, she super jumped, briefly becoming all but a speckle of orange into the sky before careening down to the ground below, a shadow hanging over Joker as she fell right atop him.

By some miracle the agent was able to land on him without knocking the two of them down, instead delicately balanced on his shoulders. Hopping down from him, she’d smile and raise a fist, welcoming him to bump it for the group’s victory. And yet, if he were to accept the gesture, Inkling would instead grab him by his coat to drag him to her level and, with a mischievous smile, instead use said balled up fist to ruffle up his hair in an old fashioned noogie. He was lucky that’s all he got for scaring her and the others like that, a sentiment echoed by Prompto’s telling the thief to not scare them like that again, to which Inkling nodded in agreement, finally letting him go. Still, it was clear by the smile that any negative emotions were far outweighed by the relief of her friend’s safety and the glorious victory on their shoulders, a joy that only grew further with the arrival of a certain pink wearing blondie. Here was Paula, a little worse for wear but finally back with the group.

“Woomy!”

Perhaps it was a little rude to admit but during the chaos of battle Inkling had quite nearly forgotten about the whereabouts of her teammate, but nevertheless the agent was still incredibly glad she’d come out of it seemingly alright. Glad enough that she too would offer Paula a fist bump, thankfully one that didn’t come included with any added noogie. The gang back together, Inkling found herself glancing back to the stadium in the distance. If the battle they’d just been through had been as all around awful as that she could only assume things were certainly going to get all the more tough from here. As much as her ego hated to admit it, maybe it really was time to report back to Cuttlefish and see if he could do anything to help them out. And so, holding up a finger to convey a kind of ‘hold on, one second’ gesture, she’d momentarily pull out her phone to text some kind of message to the captain before swiftly returning it to her pocket. It might be a bit before he’ll actually see it, and she wasn’t entirely sure if he’d even be able to do anything for them, but it was certainly better than nothing, even if it did hurt her pride. With that, she looked back at the others. They had their celebrations but she supposed that it was probably time they got back to business.

Byleth quietly watched as Luke ran off ahead before allowing his eyes to drift upwards to catch sight of the falling "object." It was hard to make out exactly what it was, but from the looks of it, it was oddly human sized. Could it be...? His thoughts were brought to an abrupt halt as Layton called after Luke and followed in pursuit. It was probably best if he followed suit. It'd answer his questions faster.

Pushing himself forward, the professor silently followed behind his companions until he finally arrived at the crash sight. Dust was still clearing from the impact and instinctively Byleth lifted a hand to wave the dust from the air. It was a poor attempt at clearing the air, but one nonetheless. As it cleared, his eyes quietly moved towards the source of the mini dust storm. To his own surprise, his suspicions had been right. The Smash Bros who had been on the airship overhead had indeed come crashing down. He finally had his answer as to who they were: Sora and Pichu.

Lingering back a little ways, Byleth surveyed the situation from a distance, even briefly considering rewinding time to perhaps save the two from such a brutal fall, but he decided against it. Pichu from the looks of it seemed mostly fine. He clearly hadn't taken the impact of the fall, Sora had. Even so, looking over the boy, he figured he would be alright despite the pained look he currently wore on his face. Pain would luckily pass, thus there was no reason for him to try and change the events that had occurred.

While the swordsmen stayed back, Sora had yet to notice his presence, but the sound of unfamiliar voices caught his attention. His mind was in a daze and could hardly make out what either one was saying, but upon feeling Pichu lifted from his chest, panic rose in him. Despite how disorientated and in pain he was, the teen scrambled to his feet and instinctively summoned his keyblade, thinking he had landed them in yet another bad situation. Luckily, before his swing could do any actual harm, Byleth had rushed over and lifted the Sword of the Creator to clash with Sora's Kingdom Key.

"At ease, Sora," Byleth breathed out. He wasn't sure if it was the sound of his voice or the fact he spoke Sora's name that snapped him back to reality, but almost instantly the boy's expression changed from one of panic to a more peppy one.

Shaking his head in attempt to help himself focus, the keyblade wielder blinked a few times as he stared at Byleth. The voice had been familiar, yet his eyes seemed to deceive him. That was until they settled upon the usual stoic face of the professor. He'd know those sharp features anywhere even if the rest of the swordsmen had changed.

"Byleth!" he exclaimed as realization rushed over him. That was when he willed his weapon to disappear once again and he pushed the other's aside to stumble forward and pull him into a hug.

Baffled by the teen's actions, Byleth awkwardly stared down at him, clearly unsure of how to react to the boy's friendliness. Such things had never been normal for him after all. Hugs were so strange to him. While he knew they were some form of affection, he still never knew how to react to them. The closest he had ever gotten to something like this had been at the ball when every student was pulling him in for a dance, but that wasn't even the same as this.

The awkwardness between the two lingered until absentmindedly the swordsmen lifted his free hand up to pat the top of Sora's head. Was that even normal? The strays at the monastery always enjoyed it, though he supposed Sora was no cat nor dog. Too late to take it back.

Upon feeling Byleth's hand on his head, the keyblade wielder pulled back and looked up at him with a goofy grin upon his face. "Was that affection, Byleth?!"

"Take it as you will..."

A hearty laugh rumbled from the boy's throat before he fully stepped back and examined the man before him. "You've changed quite a bit since our last meeting, Professor! Showing emotion now? And your looks! Such regal clothes and you even dyed your hair!"

"As have you, Sora," Byleth stated as he looked down at the boy, deciding to ignore his comment on him showing emotion. "You've grown taller... Perhaps you should think of getting a new outfit, though. That one looks short on you now."

Blinking, Sora stared at the professor. Was that an attempt at humor? From the way the corners of Byleth's lips seemed to curl into a faint smile, he could only assume so. Even so, it had been at his own expense. Before he could even react any further though, pain surged through his body and he winced until he hunched over. "Urgh...!"

Seeing the teen drop back down to his knees, Byleth gave a small shake of his head before returning his sword to his hip and stepping forward. "Don't move. I'll heal you then you can apologize for your behavior."

A soft 'huh' slipped from Sora's lips until he looked past Byleth towards both Luke and Layton. They must have been the ones that had spooked him. Now that his head was on straight, it was clear neither was a threat and as he quietly watched the other young boy, it seemed he meant no harm to Pichu at all. His own panic had merely gotten the best of him. An apology was an order, though it was rather surprising to see Byleth seem to care about such. It made Sora happy, but instead of saying anything, he gave a simple nod of his head and relaxed himself on his knees to allow the older male to heal him.

Wait... since when could Byleth heal? The words hadn't originally clicked with him, but he never recalled the swordsmen having such an ability before. Actually, he only knew him to be adept in weaponry, previously having wielded multiple weapons during his previous inclusion. Maybe it didn't hurt to ask. "I don't remember you having magic, Byleth... Did you just not use it last tournament? Did you purposely hold back on all us?!" Sora's cheeks puffed out, showing his disapproval in such a thought, but Byleth simply shook his head as he stepped forward and extended a hand towards the keyblade wielder.

"Perhaps I've always had an affinity for magic, who knows," the professor began as he allowed a golden hue to surround his hand before he held it directly in front of Sora and allowed the magic to slowly begin surrounding the boy. "But I was given a revelation from the Goddess, and with that I was changed into the man you see now." That wasn't the real reason, but it was the one the church pushed, thus Byleth used it. Explaining that he actually had fused with the Goddess wasn't worth the confusion it would cause.

"Revelation from the Goddess...? Can't say that makes much sense, but cool!"

Byleth should have known it would go well over Sora's head, but even so he couldn't keep himself from letting a faint smile cross his lips. His cheeriness was oddly rubbing off on the professor even after only a few minutes. He wouldn't admit to it though.

Noticing the smile creeping onto the young professor's face, Sora's eyes lit up, though he didn't dare to speak up. Instead, he let the warmth of Byleth's magic surround him. In a way it was much like his own healing. It was soothing and washed the pain from his body away. Did that mean his fellow Smash Brother had been gifted some kind of light magic. It was only then the younger male decided to speak up again: "Is this light magic...?"

"We call it white magic, but the idea I assume it the same. My magic is likely similar to yours, though I don't need a conduit to use mine. My sword could harness my magic if I wanted it to, but it's own properties make it, well... rather difficult to do," he stated. The Heroes Relics were odd weapons as is. Their own unique abilities made it hard to channel his magic through, hence his reliance on his weapon over his magic. With Sora's question out of the way he finished his healing and pulled his hand back causing the aura to vanish from it before he spoke again: "There. Now go apologize."

"YESSIR!"

Promptly saluting in Byleth's direction, Sora quickly hopped up to his feet again as if nothing had happened. Quickly, he dropped his salute and turned towards Layton and Luke with a sheepish smile now upon his features. "Sorry for before! I thought we were in danger again and jumped on the defensive too quickly!" Bowing his head, he soon returned upright and his gaze flickered between the pair before momentarily moving to Byleth. "So these two are with you then, Professor? You aren't with any of the others?"

Shaking his head slowly as he moved over to Luke and Pichu, Byleth's gaze returned to Sora briefly. "Yes, they are with me, and no I am not with any of the other Smash Bros. You two are the first ones."

"Huh... I see..." For a moment it seemed Sora's cheerfulness had escaped him, but it only seconds later it would return. Grinning from ear-to-ear, the teen rested his fists against his hips and held his head high. "In that case, I am Sora, member of the Super Smash Bros!"

"And...?"

"And...? OH!" Realization washed over him as he figured out was Byleth was trying to hint at. "And my friend you're holding is Pichu! He's also one of us!"

As Sora introduced the pair, Byleth crouched down beside Luke and Pichu and extended a hand carefully towards the rodent. "It's nice to see you again, Pichu. If you're hurt, I can heal you as well."

Mythra quietly watched the interaction between the others and the pirates, deciding to keep to herself for once. There wasn't much reason for her to get involved anyways. Pit and Toon Link seemed to have it under control. This was a moment for her to relax.

Closing her eyes, the aegis leaned back in her place and allowed a deep sigh to slip from her lips as she calmed herself. Her body seemed to relax, though she was mindful of the pirates even if they were begging for their lives. There was no telling if they might be using some cunning tactic to have their lives spared so they might in turn try to harm them. Even with that in mind, Mythra continued to show no interest in the situation. She didn't care of the outcome as long as it didn't involve more fighting.

The voices went in one ear and out the other until it become screaming. That was when she dared to open her eyes again and watch as the pirates vanished into the distance at high speeds. "Farewell to them," she mumbled under her breath before preparing to go back to her relaxing. Pit's words would stop her though. Narrowing her eyes, her brows creased, showing clear irritation in the request. "And what do you expect me to do about it?"

That was a good question. What did he expect her to do? It wasn't as if she had some special ability of some kind to deal with such situations. Actually, she had never seen anything like this before. It was strange, but strange was all the Smash Realm seemed to be anyways. Everyone had their quirks. This was clearly one of Pit's.

Even if she had no answer to her question, or even got one, Mythra figured she would be expected to do something. Maybe even working on a whim was better. The act of surprise was a powerful one after all. Racking her own mind for some kind of solution, the aegis slowly and carefully clambered to her feet and took a step closer to the angel. That was when an idea came to her. Without a word, she lifted her hand into the air and in one swift movement swung it forward towards her companion.

SMACK!

Her hand slapped against Pit's cheek with great force causing it to momentarily ring out. The impact caused Mythra's own hand to sting, but she didn't care all too much as she pulled it back and gave it a small shake. A slap probably wasn't the best way to go, but it was the only solution that had come to her. Besides, it usually worked to get rid of any unwanted expressions Rex shot her way. Was that even the same?

It was too late to think on that now. With the deed done, Mythra took a step back and sank back down into her previous position. "Don't come crying to me if that hurt," she remarked as she crossed her arms over her chest. "You were basically asking for it."

Although Princess Peach appeared to agree with Zelda’s suggestion, when it came to her apology, the Hylian was surprised to find that she quickly refuted the need for one, citing that neither was wholly to blame for the situation.

“But-”

Zelda rose up as if ready to protest and yet she’d immediately falter, eyes briefly falling to the floor. After all, as much as her heart desired to place the blame onto herself, someone who wielded the triforce of wisdom like herself couldn’t deny that logically, Princess Peach certainly was not wrong. They couldn’t do this by themselves, and there was little use in shouldering all of the blame onto oneself. Whether Zelda had been in the right or in the wrong, all that mattered is that they adapt and correct course. So with a small sigh, she looked back up at her friend and smiled, conceding

“…No, you’re right. Thank you, Peach”

Still, behind the Hylian’ s gentle expression it was clear there was more to it than just that. Perhaps it was the gravity of…well, everything, but even Peach’s words of comfort struggled to fully put Zelda’s mind at ease. The most frustrating thing, Zelda herself wouldn’t have been able to state just what exactly was causing her such emotional strife. It seemed every situation, every choice and decision made, only furthered an internal conflict that even the Triforce of Wisdom held no answers to. Or perhaps the triforce did hold a conclusive truth that she was merely too blind to grasp.

Zelda clutched her arm, eyes falling towards the back of her hand.

It always came back to the Triforce, didn’t it? No matter what world, no matter what time, no matter what context, it was almost instinctive for her to search for the answers to her woes through it. Even so, there was still so much that eluded her. Unlike her prior incarnations, Zelda herself hadn’t been born with the Triforce of Wisdom, she never had years of time to adapt nor understand the extent of its potential. Up until the moment she and the hero of legend had decided to split the Triforce apart for the safety of her land, she held no such holy sagacity to speak of. And sometimes, Zelda wondered if she even deserved such a powerful gift, or if she had been born without the Triforce for that very reason.

A silence lingered between the two, Zelda searching for anything further to add. However, as the clock ticked on she remained without words and so would have no choice but to settle for the brief exchange between the two. So, looking over to both her and Cream, Zelda smiled and let them know she’d be leaving.

“I’ll be back soon, take care”

Yet as she departed from her friend, Zelda held the feeling that there was still something more she could have said to her fellow princess even if she couldn’t place just exactly what. Never the matter, the time for it had long passed and there were still other matters to attend to. Zelda could only hope that by the time they meet again, she’ll have found the unspoken words she’d desired to say.

Just before she could depart from the group, The lake scientist still had one last piece of wisdom to share, informing them that followers of Lunaris often bore an emblem which depicted a gold and silver grinning face, matching with the mask that Lunaris himself apparently often wore. And although that still wouldn’t exactly make the search for Lunaris any less difficult, it at least would hopefully give them a lead once it does finally come to it.

With a final smile and “Thank you,” Zelda took her exit, quickly making her way towards Samus over near the lake shore. Yet when she drew closer, she could see that Samus appeared to have already found something, as she stared down at something in her hand. Whatever the object was, it seemed that it had satisfied the bounty hunter, as she rose up from the shore and began the trek back to the rest of the group. her side. While it was too late to help her investigate, Zelda was still halfway from both the lab and the shore, so she figured it wouldn’t hurt to simply join her friend on the way. So, she waved in Samus’ direction and lightly jogged up over to her, of course incredibly curious about what Samus’ investigation had unearthed. Perhaps to try and lighten her own spirits, Zelda attempted to do away with her prior stresses, instead cheekily commenting with a laugh,

“Goddesses, that was quick”

Still, with a small glance back towards the lake she quickly sobered, adding in a much more subdued voice,

“Were you able to find anything?”

A question that remained unanswered, a third voice’s ominous laugh cutting through the two. Before Zelda could blink Samus already had her cannon pointed towards the nearby woods, Zelda following suit. With a golden ball of flames dancing in her palm, she too turned to face the voice, as illuminated under the light of her flames, someone emerged from the darkness of the forest.

A man bearing pointed ears, squinted eyes, and a Cheshire smile stretched impossibly taunt across his face would be the first thing to greet the two women. Perhaps it was merely a trick of the eye but for just a moment she’d thought the man wasn’t alone, as a variety of faces too revealed themselves. Much to her relief, they were merely masks carved and painted into the visage of such. Though the man, hunched beneath the weight of his knapsack, was alone enough to send a shiver down the princess’ spine.

Perhaps it was the way he seemed so inhumanly stilted in posture or how despite holding an expression mimicking amiability, it was entirely far too unnatural for it to not read as anything but, either way just existing in the near vicinity of this ‘man’ was enough to send a shiver down her spine. And yet, arms raised to appear non-threatening, it seemed he at least wasn’t going to be immediately malicious. That certainly didn’t mean that the two women shouldn’t still be wary, as flame and cannon remained fixed. Still, this didn’t seem to discourage the stranger as he soon began to speak.

He introduced himself as the Happy Mask Salesman, explaining that he had overheard the group’s discussion of Lunaris and had been reminded of a certain tale. The Salesman then offered to regale it to them, but not before his gaze then fell on Zelda, providing a seemingly idle comment regarding the wisdom found in legends.

The princess remained composed, unwilling to let the stranger burrow his way under her skin. Once it became clear she wasn’t going to respond, the man nevertheless began regaling his tale.

1691304179471.png

A tale that, despite its setting within the ancient Kingdom of Hyrule, she’d never heard anything like before. The tale itself described an era of magic, dreams, and omens. An era of peace eventually brought to an end.

A dragon once heralded once as a protector only to be turned to a mindless beast

A hero, king, and wizard who stole the creature’s heart, unaware of the consequences

A young princess, nothing more than the unfortunate catalyst of the tale.

A princess who too had been blessed with the gift of prophecy, only to be rendered unable to act on it.

A familiar story that repeated again and again and again and again.

In equal parts fate as it is fable. As the Salesman continued, Zelda find her mind fixated on the maiden of the legend.

How did the princess react, rendered helpless and afraid by forces outside of her control and forced to patiently wait for the heroes of the tale to come save her? What did she feel when she rose from her slumber to the heroes of the tale, rejoicing in her revival despite the great cost? Would she have even wanted such a thing?

All these questions plagued the young Zelda’s mind yet, as with any tale, the story came to an end. The dragon was slayed, the princess was saved, a mask left in its wake, and magic all but gone from the world. Just as the Salesman had said, it wasn’t a happy tale. Yet, Zelda herself was unsure what was sadder, was it the initial loss of an innocent life and magic from the world, or the knowledge that Hyrule would be destined to fall to tragedy again and again, caught in an endless cycle?

Zelda looked down to find that her hands were shaking. Letting the flames simmer out, she slowly breathed in, calming herself just as the Salesman directed his attention to the Hylian Princess one last time.

I've heard it said that dragons cannot tell lies.

And with that and an ominous chuckle, the man was gone, leaving a plethora of questions behind.

1691304179471.png

Naturally, Samus’ first instinct was to turn towards Zelda for answers. The man seemed to be of Hylian origin after all, and he’d felt far too comfortable in addressing Zelda directly for it to not mean anything. And yet, Zelda herself was left equally, maybe even more so confused. Still, Zelda struggled to fit the pieces together for the other’s

“It’s likely that the legend he was referring to is in some way related to Lunaris. For however, now we can’t take much of what he’s stated for granted. All legends become warped as history passes on, facts embellished on or omitted entirely. As far as I’m aware, such a legend may not even exist in my era…Though the history of Hyrule has always been filled with holes so I truthfully cannot say much for certain whether such events ever did happen in some shape or form”

She went silent, sparing glance back into the woods, where the elusive Salesman once stood.

“As for The Masked Salesman…although there was such a man from my era, he was a human from the nation of Labrynna, not Hylian. I don’t know what to make of the man we encountered…”

She tore her eyes from the trees to face Samus, and with a empty laugh concluded,

“To be truthful, I’m not sure what to make of any of this”

With those closing words, Zelda finally noticed an awake and alert Pikachu nearby who would quickly be joined by a worried Peach following behind. To try and dismay her concern Zelda answered back.

“It’s us, and everything’s…fine”

It was clear that Zelda was anything but.

Seeing none of the others join in, Morgana gave a puff of his cheeks before finally releasing Joker and stepping back from the thief. While he wanted to spit out some witty insults, any thoughts of it were shattered when the hard gaze of the other male thief fell upon him and silently hushed him. Grumbling in defeat, the feline lashed his tail out behind him as he moved a few feet away and crossed his arms over his chest. Everything about him made it clear he was acting rather childish over the whole ordeal.

Deciding to ignore Mona's pouty display, Ren's gaze moved down to Ann who was still buried in his chest. "You know you can let go at any time," he quietly breathed out, causing her to lift her head and angle it upwards so her chin was resting on his chest instead. Her eyes were still tear filled, but shone with a happiness that only made a soft smile cross the teenage thief's lips. How could he not? Maybe he was just a sap, though he admittedly didn't care. Well... maybe he did care about it with several pairs of eyes watching. Even then, that didn't stop him. "I can't wipe your tears away if you keep holding me like this, you know."

"Ren, you moron," Ann laughed softly before she unwrapped her arms from around him and moved to wipe the tears from her eyes. "You say the stupidest things sometimes." Despite how cold her words might have been, her tone made it clear how playful it was. If anything it told him that she liked it, even if she refused to vocally admit it.

Letting a chuckle rumble from his throat, Joker moved a hand to move Ann's away and gently wipe away any stray tears she had missed before leaned leaning down to plant a light kiss on the top of her head. "And I'll always be your moron."

A soft, but panicked squeak escaped Ann's lips as her face quickly flushed bright red. There he went again with those cheesy lines he liked to throw back at her. As much as he did it, she was still not prepared for it and it embarrassed her nonetheless, especially from how loudly and proudly he spoke it. Putting her hands onto his chest, she pushed herself away and quickly moved over to join Morgana. Watching her, Ren's face softened and he gave a small shake of his head. She really could be too cute sometimes.

While his gaze was trained on his girlfriend the thief hadn't noticed Inkling had prepared her own approach now that he was alone. The sound of compressed ink shooting upward was the only warning he received before her shadow loomed over him. The soft, yet smugish look he had worn was quick to fade as his eyes widened at the realization of what was coming. Luckily for both of them she was able to land on his shoulders without making them fall to the ground. Unfortunately though, Joker could feel his knees trying to buckle beneath him and his body cried out in pain from the added weight. Even so, he did his best to keep such things from creeping in to his expression.

She was only there for a moment before she hopped down in front of him and lifted a fist up to him. That was a gesture he knew well enough, and he gladly returned it, allowing his own hand to ball up into a fist and a smirk to cross his own face, but that gesture would never be completed. As quickly as Agent Three had offered the gesture, she quickly juked him out and took a different approach instead. Her swiftness even caught the thief by surprise.

Feeling her yank on his coat and pull him downward, Ren stumbled down to her height. It was then he felt her hand quickly rub against the top of his head in a gesture he was luckily familiar with as well, even if he didn't entirely appreciate it. Nonetheless, a lighthearted laugh escaped his throat and he quickly moved his hand up to push her own away. "Hey! Hey! You're messing up my hair."

Despite how lighthearted he had tried to keep the situation, the words spoken were more than enough to make him realize the seriousness of it all. Pursing his lips silently as he stood up straight again, Ren watched as the squid girl before him nodded in agreement and his eyes instinctively moved in Ann's direction. Despite her little episode from before, she too was nodding. It wasn't surprising. What he had done had been a major risk and he was lucky Raoul had even bothered to come save his ass. Even if Arsene would have naturally returned to him at some point, there was no telling when that would have been, and as a result, he had put all the others at risk. Still, he didn't regret his actions. As risky as they were, they had needed to turn the tides and clearly he was capable of doing just that.

"They're right Joker," Ann spoke as her mask finally formed once again on her face. "You're plan didn't even work out the way you wanted, I know that much. You tried to summon HIM didn't you? And he didn't come to help like he did back home... You're lucky your other persona did otherwise..." Sadness lingered in her voice and she quietly averted her gaze from the thief, hoping to force him into thinking upon his actions, but not before she finished her statement: "We could have lost you..."

While guilt bubbled up inside him, Joker still stood in silence. He wasn't surprised Ann knew what his real aim had been, but her words did force him to face a harsh reality- his powers weren't going to work the way he hoped. Hell, it had been luck that had brought Satanael around the first time and still he had tried to recreate it without much thought. Creasing his brows and chewing at his lower lip momentarily, the thief finally lifted his gaze again.

"I know what I did was dangerous, and I'm sorry for worrying you all. I know persona awakenings aren't pleasant to witness, and that wasn't my aim, but what I did was necessary. I needed a way to protect us all, and I went for it," he stated, his features becoming eerily serious. His eyes flickered from person to person before he closed them and took in a deep breath. "I can't promise I won't do it again. I will protect you however I can, even if-"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence Mr. Overly Self Sacrificial!"

Maybe she was right. That sentence was better left unfinished. Besides, how many times we he going to allow himself to be scolded for similar things? If he kept it up, surely Ann would lose her mind, and the others might as well. Letting a defeated sigh slip from between his lips, Joker rubbed the back of his neck before a weak chuckle followed. "Okay, okay. You win."

Even with his admission, there were still parts he refused to back down on though and he was sure Ann was more than aware given his usual nature. Despite that a smile formed on her lips and she stepped towards him once again as Inkling moved away to greet Paula. Pausing for a brief moment, the female thief hadn't realized the girl had even gone missing until now- a reaction she seemed to share with Ren as well. His eyes told her that much.

"You had a lot on your mind, don't beat yourself up over not noticing," Ann said softly as she reached out to grab hold of his hand. Lacing her fingers between his, she could feel his hand trembling just like she had expected. It wasn't from fear or anything related to it. No, his body was showing clear signs of exhaustion which he was doing his best to hide. "You're exhausted too. Anyone in your current state would miss some things."

Frowning at her words, Ren pulled his hand back and looked away, giving himself a moment to compose his mind. "I'm glad everyone is safe, but we shouldn't linger here for too long. The Stadium is just up ahead and who knows what trouble might be awaiting us there."

Those words were eerie even if the thief didn't want them to be. After what they had just faced, he could only expect there to be something worse up ahead, unless for some miracle of a reason some of the other Smash Brothers had already taken the area. It was a hopeful thought, and while Ren wished it to be true, he knew better than to be blinded by such optimism. He needed to be realistic. Before he continued on though, he watched as Inkling held a finger up and took a step away to do something on her phone. That gave him time to address something of his own.

"In that case... Mona," he called out, instantly gaining the cat's attention. "I'm sending you home. You are to gather the other Phantom Thieves and be on standby until further notice. Have Futaba ready her 'Futaba Cannon' for me as well and send it to my phone. If things do get worse, we need a reliable way to send out a distress signal. That program should be enough."

"But Jokerrrrrrrrr!"

"No buts Morgana. I would send Panther back too, but..." Shifting his gaze, he could see Ann glaring daggers at him. That was about what he expected. "Given my condition, she'd never allow that."

Huffing, the cat violently lashed his tail out behind him. "Fineeeeeee! I'll do it. I need a way out though."

"Panther give him your phone. We'll need mine going forward."

Despite wanting to protest, Ann reluctantly pulled her own phone out and opened the MetaNav before she walked over to Morgana. Handing it to him, she moved away to avoid being caught up in being teleported away once the feline triggered it. Once she was in the clear Morgana gave a wave towards the group before giving one last prideful message: "I'll make sure you've got backup! I won't let you down!" With that, the phone spoke out, indicating it was beginning navigation before poofing the cat away.

Shifting his gaze again, Ren's eyes returned back to the others and he offered a faint smile once again. Everything seemed settled now. They could proceed forward, though this time it would have to be by foot. While he was worried about how well his own body would hold up after the strain it had been put through, he figured it would be alright. He just wouldn't be able to fight for awhile. Not without a major rest. They didn't have that luxury right now though.

"If everyone is set, we should get moving," Joker said, casting his gaze towards the nearby Stadium. 'We should avoid fighting moving forward. While, I don't want any of you to worry too much about me, a persona awakening does tire the body drastically, even for an experienced user like myself. So I'm likely in no shape to aid in combat until I can properly rest. I'm sure you all are feeling tired in some manner too."

Admitting to his own tiredness felt embarrassing, though he was sure the signs were becoming more and more noticeable, despite how controlled he tried to keep it. His hands were trembling more noticeably and his posture was more slouched over than usual. No matter how strong he tried to appear, his own weakness was breaking through his usual armor. He could only hope that wouldn't dissuade their trust in him.

As he was prepared to move forward, Ann stepped in front him and briefly took his attention. No words were spoken and quietly Joker looked her down before noting the tears in her suit from fighting. Without much thought, the thief shrugged his coat off his shoulder and wrapped it around her shoulders. "You're exposing more skin than usual."

Such a simple comment was enough to make the girl's face go red once more. Even so, she smiled and grabbed the edges of the coat to pull around herself. "Thank you..."

The two exchanged soft looks for a few seconds before Ren broke his gaze and stepped past her. Despite it all, he was still going to take the lead. Ann didn't fall too far behind. Even if he was going to still take the lead, she planned on keeping a close eye on him to make sure he didn't push himself too hard. She was sure the others were on board with that too. "Come on everyone! The Stadium awaits!"

As Meteor was destroyed, a silence fell upon the masked archers of the jungle. Then, after a moment, they began talking amongst themselves in hushed voices.

"It's... it's gone. I think we're safe."

"Was that the Hands? I'm sure I saw them!"

"Me too. So, the Hands are alive. But where are they? And why did they disappear?"

"Beats me. I'm just glad to know the Hands are alive! Maybe there is hope for this world yet."

The captain, remembering the situation they had at hand, barked at his whispering men. "Snap to, men! Get that metal monstrosity into custody!"

Archers surrounded the mechanized Kirby. Before the captain could issue his next order, a voice, that of a young woman, snatched his attention.

"Big brother, the scouts have returned!"

A young woman with shoulder-length chestnut hair and dressed in a simple green tunic ran to the captain and stood at attention. The captain was about to speak when, again, the girl cut him off upon seeing the Smash Brothers. "Oh! The Super Smash Brothers! It's really the Super Smash Brothers!" She ran over to Yoshi and reached out with both hands to gently stroke his snout. "Aww, a Yoshi! You're so cute!"

The captain sighed, exasperated by his sister's lack of discipline. "Faydo..."

Without slowing her stroking, Faydo looked to the captain. "Brother! The Super Smash Brothers are legendary warriors of the realm. They can help us!"

The captain was doubtful. "Legendary warriors?" He narrowed his eyes at Captain Falcon. "They seem like a bunch of braggarts to me!"

Faydo rolled her eyes then turned to the Smash Brothers. She lowered her voice. "Please, don't be mad at my brother's rudeness. He just has a lot on his plate and... Oh! Right! The scouts!" She whirled around to face her brother, features serious. "It's urgent, Big Brother. You're needed at once!"

The captain nodded and strode purposefully towards where the headquarters were. The other archers followed with the mechanized Kirby in tow. Faydo gestured for the Super Smash Brothers to follow. "Come on, follow me!"

The headquarters were built into the massive trunk of an ancient tree. As the captain entered, a sentry saluted then led the group to the infirmary. One of the scouts was by the bedside of another, who was suffering from severe paralysis. Another scout, a very small fellow, was trying to keep his oversized tunic from slipping off of him.

The bedside scout got to his feet and saluted the captain, who returned the salute. "Report, Kona."

Kona dropped his salute. "We are the only ones left of the scouting party sent to investigate the swamp to the east, Captain; Figg, Len, Rokai, and myself. It is as we feared: the Sorrowfen is expanding and with it, the Gloom is spreading to the rest of the swamp and making its way to our jungle. The area is infested with monsters... and we found the Demon Tree! Or, rather, it found us. It is a massive, evil thing with many wriggling vines and a mouth full of sharp teeth! It unleashed a terrible breath of poison that took out most of us. Rokai has been shrunk down, and Len paralyzed."

The captain looked around then asked, "Where is Figg?"

Kona opened his cloak to reveal an inside pocket. A frog poked its head out of the pocket and croaked at the captain.

The captain silently stared at the frog for a long moment before slowly turning his masked gaze to Kona. "You mean to say the Demon Tree has a breath attack that can poison, paralyze, shrink, and turn victims into frogs?"

Kona stared back at the captain. "Captain, you doubt me?"

"I just... find it hard to believe." The captain took time to digest the news he was given. "We do not have the means to treat a curse as powerful as a polymorph or shrink spell, nor the paralysis Len has suffered. We will need to take them to the Great Fairy."

Faydo spoke up, "Brother, with the Super Smash Brothers here, we can defeat the Demon Tree! Surely once the Demon Tree is destroyed, the Sorrowfen will stop spreading!" She looked to the Super Smash Brothers and reached out, taking Captain Falcon's hands into hers and staring up at him with pleading brown eyes. "Please, I know we do not deserve your help, not after the way we've treated you, but this isn't just about us! The land is dying, we all can feel it. This may be the first step to fixing the Realm!" Faydo glanced over her shoulder at her brother. "The way to the Great Fairy is dangerous. Kona, Figgs, Rokai, and Len will need help getting there. Yoshi can help carry Len."

The captain scoffed. "If this ragged bunch can defeat the Demon Tree, I'll eat my own mask!" He then let out a long, drawn sigh and rubbed his temples. "Still, we are undermanned, and the swordsman Link is with you. I suppose that's proof enough that you can be relied on." He raised his eyes to the Smash Brothers. "Listen to me, if you do mean to help us, Glitterwing Post is to the northeast of here. It is an outpost we set up to protect the Great Fairy Fountain when the Hands disappeared and monsters started roaming the area. If you reach the Sorrowfen, you've gone too far. You'll know it: it's a dreary marsh where it rains forever. It used to be in its own contained area within the great swamp, but it has since been growing. Be warned that it is cursed! Those who venture into the Sorrowfen find themselves burdened with great sadness, what we call 'the Gloom.' If you go there, you must go with a stalwart heart, otherwise you'll be weighed down by despair and sink, never to be seen again. The only ones mad enough to live there is a village of Waddle Dees and a Deku witch. She's crazy, but not dangerous. If you're as mad as they are and want to take on the Demon Tree, then I suggest seeking them out. Good luck!"

Faydo grabbed a cloak. "I'll be coming with you guys. I want to see the Super Smash Brothers in action!"

The captain's tone was firm as he grabbed his sister's shoulder and held her in place. "No, you are staying here where it is safe!"

"Awwwww!"

Nurse Joy thanked Cream and Cheese as they brought her the water and cloth. As she dabbed sweat off Dark Pit's face, she answered Princess Peach. "The Keystone is a colorful, smooth round stone the size of a large marble. Inside it is a black leaf-shaped marking with stripes running through it. Here, I'll show you a picture."

Nurse Joy put aside the bowl and cloth and stood. She went to a bookshelf and ran her finger over the spines of her books until she found the one she was looking for. Pulling out the book, she flipped through the pages, then turned the book so Peach could see the picture of a Keystone.

"My Keystone disappeared the same night Rayquaza fell ill," the good nurse said. "It was stolen, I know it, but how it was stolen from right under my nose, I do not know. If you happen to find it, I would be very grateful." The pink-haired woman then waved as Peach left to check up on her friends. "I'll prepare some blankets for you. It's very late!"

Samus followed Zelda's gaze to the dark trees. The strange mask salesman knew more than he let on, way more. Samus's own experiences showed that legends should not be completely disregarded. History and culture are often revealed in those old stories, and from that Samus has been able to glean clues that eventually helped her accomplish her missions. What she could take from the salesman's tale were three things: One, Lunaris is from Hyrule, though of which era was currently unknown; two, somehow Lunaris is tied to this Night Dragon, a great beast whose heart was stolen; and three, Lunaris wears a mask of silver and gold, possibly the same one the salesman spoke of. Their enemy is likely a Hylian man wearing a mask of silver and gold, and has ties to dragons. Granted, there was no evidence that Lunaris was even Hylian as Hyrule is home to many races and species, but it was very probable.

Samus decided not to dwell on the story any longer. She had recorded the Happy Mask Salesman's story in case she ever needed to review it again. In time, things will become clear. They always do. For now, it was best to focus on the present: Rayquaza's illness and the Pillars, and ponder on the past later.

The arrival of Peach, Pikachu, and Cream drew the Huntress's gaze from the trees. She raised her left hand in a greeting. As Zelda responded to the girls that everything was all right, Samus looked to the Hylian princess and put a gentle, reassuring hand on her shoulder. She had an idea of what might be on Zelda's mind (she is friends with two other Zeldas after all) and sympathized. To be so young and having to bear such burdens is hard. Samus wasn't going to pry, but she made sure in her own quiet way to let the princess know she could come to her for anything, even if all she needed was a listening ear.

"Everything is fine, Peach," Samus said, reenforcing Zelda's statement. "We were just discussing sleeping arrangements. It is late and we all can use some rest."

It was a light fib, but maybe it will keep poor Zelda from being interrogated by the other girls if she was in no mood to speak. Samus did not share her discovery by the lake; there was no reason to worry everyone so much that it keeps them up at night. She can discuss her findings in the morning when bodies are rested and minds are refreshed. As if on cue, Nurse Joy appeared with Audino by her side, the two of them carrying folded blankets.

The night passed peacefully. As the light of the morning sun began to shine, everything seemed to point to a tranquil dawn. The air came to life with soft birdsong. A Magikarp leaped out of the lake. Big the Cat lay asleep beneath a tree close to the lake shore, his buddy Froggy snoozing on top of his round, fluffy belly. It was a morning that can make one forget about the troubles that plagued the Realm.

"Princesses!" a distressed Nurse Joy suddenly cried, shattering the peace. "Dark Pit is gone!"

She stood where she had left Dark Pit to sleep the night before. Nurse Joy had a hand to her cheek, shaking her head worriedly as she looked upon the blanket, which had been folded neatly and with the pillow placed on top of it. It was then she noticed something hiding beneath them. With care, Nurse Joy removed the pillow and blanket to reveal a box, and gasped softly as she beheld its contents: healing berries of various types and bundles of medicinal herbs, enough to refill her barren stock!

The Lake Scientist emerged from the lab, yawning and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Eh, good morning, Nurse Joy. What did I miss...?" He looked to the box and his eyes opened wide with surprise. "Oh-ho! Looks like that little troublemaker left us a thank you present!" His voice lowered to a mumble, "Though, I would be more thankful if he had cleaned the lab after himself. Hrmhrm!"

Toon Link & Pit
Where: The sea
With: Pyra/Mythra Ploegy Ploegy

With a few swishes of the baton, Toon Link was able to send the last boat of islanders back home to the Alolan Islands, after which the young Hylian then fell back against the boatside with a tired sigh. It took concentration to use the Ballad of Gales. He had to make precise movements of the baton while maintaining an image of his destination in mind. As such, repeated use of the Ballad of Gales left him mentally drained. Besides, he didn't want to transport his boat just yet. First, they had to figure out a destination. Returning to the Alolan Islands was an obvious choice, but there was something Toon Link wanted to bring up with his companions before a plan of action was decided on.

Back when Toon Link was caught in the tentacles of the fake Bellum and the Triforce of Courage in his left hand reacted, he felt the presence of another bearer of the Triforce. It was a very brief feeling, but Toon Link had experienced the sensation so many times during his adventures in the Smash Realm that he can immediately identify it. This meant that somewhere not too far from where they were was another Link, or Princess Zelda! Or Ganondorf...

Though they were no longer in the Ghost Ship and it had been a few hours since then, Toon Link's navigational experience told him that the connection of the Triforces were pulling him eastward. If another bearer of the Triforce was nearby, then that means land must be near as well! Or at least, it was likely to be land!

Toon Link winced as the palm of Mythra's hand met Pit's cheek, the slap echoing through the open sky. Pit's head jerked with the force of the slap though his body remained unmoving, once again demonstrating an angel's durability.

Pit quickly recovered from the slap, facing forward once more though his features were scrunched up as he tested his facial muscles. After a few slaps of his own to his cheeks, he let out a loud, "WOO!" followed by a "BURRBURRBURRBURR!" as he wildy shook his head clear. His eyes popped open, and a wide grin appeared on his face.

"Hey, it worked! Thanks, Mythra!" He dropped to a squat, still grinning at the Aegis. "You've got an awesome right hook! Ever considered taking up boxing?"

Toon Link stared at the irrepressible angel. He sometimes wondered if, on some level, Pit actually enjoyed pain! He quickly banished the thought. He didn't know why, but he felt it probably wasn't something a kid his age should be thinking about!

Pit crossed his legs to sit in the boat properly, his smile softening and blue eyes shining with genuine fondness. "You're really amazing, Mythra. You and Pyra both! If it wasn't for you, we'd be finished! I didn't know Pyra was so good at rallying cries. Do you think she'd be willing to collaborate with me?"

It was then that Pit did something very, very odd: he reached out with one hand and cupped the back of Mythra's head, gently yet firmly pulling her forward so their noses almost touched.

Behind Pit, Toon Link's face turned a deep shade of red! Did Pit just pull Mythra into a kiss?! Indeed, from most angles, it seemed the angel had pulled the Aegis close for a moment of tender affection! However, Pit's expression was far from amorous. His face was serious, his blue eyes piercing into Mythra's gold ones. In any other situation, even the thought of doing such a thing would leave the captain red-faced and flustered, but as Pit spoke, his voice a low whisper, his intentions became known.

"Don't look, Mythra, but I just saw Zola fins behind you." Pit then paused as his peripheral vision confirmed his suspicions; one isn't able to single-handedly battle entire hordes of demons in the sky without having awesome situational awareness. "We're surrounded."

Thankfully for Toon Link, Hylian ears weren't just for show and he was able to hear the angel's whispers. Keeping calm and watching from the corner of his eye, he saw the dark shapes beneath the water as they moved in silent circles around their small boat. The hostile fishmen don't seem to be aware that the Super Smash Brothers have discovered their presence. Toon Link held on tightly to his baton. They were at a great disadvantage, but maybe if he was quick enough he can use the Ballad of Gales once more to get him and his companions out of there! Toon Link turned his large eyes to Pit and Mythra to see what they were going to do.

Suddenly, a ship about the length of a bus crash lands in the forest just outside of the Kokiri tribes’ domain. It was long, blue and gray colored, with the words “S. S. As well as making a thunderous *BOOM* as it landed, which could be heard for miles.

Captain Falcon's thoughts were disrupted by the sudden crash of a spaceship can be heard off in the far distance, causing him to flinch at the sound of the impact "Ho-ly Moly, what was that? Actually...I think I know that sound. And it isn't wood. This is it, fellas! Stick with me at your own leisure, but I'm off to save the day! Don't wait up!" Captain Falcon begins to limp towards the direction of the sound of the crashed ship had come from.

Mecha Kirby
Kirby lay in his mechsuit as his systems struggled to heal his wounds and trybto repair any remaining systems. His storage of digital copy abilities had been corrupted, leaving only his primary weapons available.

The mechanized villain woke up with a start as soldiers approached him. The AI that had taken control of Kirbys mind quickly calculated its best action, considering the fact that with time there was a chance that his mechanics presence could be removed from his current host.

After some quick calculations, the robotic creature lay still, deciding that there was no point in trying to fight his way out with his damaged weapon systems. The men dragged him from the mech, exposing his cybernetic implants and the damage he hadn't sustained in the battle, most where minor due to the various enhancements but in return his systems and implants where badly damaged.

Dark Pit & Pikachu
Where: Forest
With: Juri Han Darklord95 Darklord95

Dark Pit strolled silently through the woodlands. He didn't look back. If he did, he might start to feel guilty. He looked up at the canopy to see the morning sun shining through the leaves. They've probably woken up and discovered his absence by now. Would they even bother coming after him? Dark Pit doubted it, and even if they did he would resist them. He goes where he pleases, and he had no desire to be stuck with a bunch of silly giggly girls; he got enough of that back in his own world and it was the reason he decided to attend the reunion to begin with! Well, one of the reasons.

Telepathic communication between angels and gods didn't work too well when they were in two different worlds. Pit had a small altar to Palutena at the Stadium and he could speak to her through it. That was the plan for when he arrived in the Smash Realm, but too much time passed and Pit never got into contact with Palutena. Concerned, the Goddess of Light asked Dark Pit to look for him while he was visiting the Realm. What did that idiot get himself into this time?

Upon arrival, Dark Pit immediately sensed a change in the world. Something was off, though he couldn't quite figure it out. Before he could ponder the situation he took a Hammer Bro.'s mallet to the head and things got worse from there. Thankfully, angels were durable beings and healed quickly-- and both Pits were exceptionally thickheaded angels! Much to Dark Pit's surprise, his right ankle felt much better as well! He had injured it years ago after kicking the Underworld Gatekeeper and it never healed properly. It didn't slow him down too much, but it was a weak spot and prone to soreness and re-injury. It seemed Nurse Joy had reset the bones to their proper place while he was unconscious. Dark Pit supposed she wasn't so bad.

Dark Pit had overheard the women and the Lake Scientist's conversation about the corruption in the forest and how they had purged it. The land bore scars of the taint: twisted, gnarled trees and withered vegetation, but there were already signs of healing in the form of new green vegetation and the return of wildlife. Dark Pit paused a moment to watch a pair of Deerling frolic while a Sawsbuck doe kept a wary eye on them. A small smile showed briefly on the reflection's face before he resumed walking.

Something tugged at the end of his exomis. Dark Pit glared over his shoulder, about to summon his Silver Bow, only to see Pikachu with the cloth in her little paws. Exhaling softly, the angel knelt down and offered his arm to allow the little Pokemon to climb to his shoulder. He straightened and turned back in the direction he was heading, and began walking.

"I'm not going back, Pikachu," Dark Pit said, eyes front. "I'm not stupid; I know they don't trust me. They want my help, but they won't be straightforward and honest with me."

Pikachu's ears drooped. Though she had nothing to do with it, she couldn't help but feel a bit of guilt. "Chu..."

"I don't have to prove anything," Dark Pit continued with a huff. "They don't need me. Let 'em figure it out themselves. Besides, I wouldn't want to mess up their little Girls' Club."

Though Dark Pit would not have minded Pikachu's companionship as he traveled, he knew where her heart lay, and she would eventually have to return to the Lake Shore. He looked to the Electric Mouse and stroked her head. "I hope you find Pichu."

"Pika!" Pikachu brushed her head affectionately against the angel's hand.

Something caught their eye and both Smash Brothers looked upward to see a ripe bunch of Nanab berries hanging from a tree. Lucky find! Dark Pit wasted no time using his Silver Bow to shoot the fruit out of the tree. He caught it easily in one hand and broke a berry off to give to Pikachu. Pikachu squeaked happily and peeled the Nanab to eat it, letting out a pleased, "Chaa~!"

Dark Pit was about to peel a Nanab for himself when soft noises from nearby bushes caught his attention. Moving quietly, he investigated the bushes to find a small Chao family: two adults, one holding a newborn. Upon being discovered, the Chao family cowered before Dark Pit while they tried to shield their baby from him. Dark Pit's face was expressionless as he analyzed their condition. The adult Chao clearly haven't eaten in days, and the baby didn't look well at all. The poor thing shivered in its parent's arms, and it was clear it wasn't going to make it if something wasn't done quickly. Dark Pit's frown deepened. What a rough start to what may be a very short life!

The Chao parents were startled as Dark Pit tossed the Nanab bunch to them. He then folded his arms and looked away, appearing aloof and disinterested. "... I'm not that hungry. You take it."

The Chao looked at Dark Pit in disbelief, then their faces brightened up, the bobbers above their heads taking the shape of hearts. One parent picked up the Nanab bunch and broke off a fruit, peeled it, and gently pressed a small piece into the infant's mouth. The baby chewed and, after a tense moment, came to life with a loud and joyous, "Chaochao!" It will be okay!

The grateful and overjoyed parents hugged the baby, then waved good-bye at Dark Pit and Pikachu before disappearing deeper into the forest. Pikachu happily waved back. Dark Pit watched them go, arms still folded across his chest, a content smile on his face.

A pair of leaves gently drifted down before them. Dark Pit's eyes trailed the leaves as they made their descent to the forest floor, his smile slowly vanishing. His head snapped upward, spotting Juri in the tree above!
