Shez in... the Battlefield Fortress
ft. Byleth ( Ploegy Ploegy ), Professor Layton & Luke ( GrumpySwallow GrumpySwallow ) and Zeke & Pandoria ( Twice Knightly Twice Knightly )

"...If he's right, there you go. If he's not, pass. I'm no good at that sort of thing."

Shez can't entirely say she's paying full attention to the puzzle, or the fact she's just conceded she's apparently less intelligent than a child according to the jester duo. More concerning is Byleth's complete lack of reaction to her -- have we met? -- look, she likes Byleth, but the guy has the sense of humour of a brick. He'd only say that if he really meant it. He's definitely made strange company since they last saw each other, sure -- who starts sharing puzzles on a battlefield, anyways? -- but it hasn't been that long! And you'd think he'd remember the several times they tried to kill each other.

Man, being treated like she didn't even exist feels even colder than trying to be murdered.

"Anyways, come on, Byleth. I know your sense of humour's, um, a little lacking, but that's just kind of tactless," Shez swiftly changes the subject from the puzzle, mostly to look less stupid, partially because she really would like to believe it's a bad joke.

It came as little surprise that Zeke and Pandoria didn't wish to listen to him. Byleth had expected as much given the personalities they had presented, yet he had hoped some common sense might have shown itself. Perhaps he was asking for too much. Either way he had no plans of paying them much more attention. He knew that was what these types desired, and it was best not to feed into such behavior for all too long. Besides, his mind was barely paying much mind to the words they continued to sputter out, or the actions they were doing. He was deep in thought over something Zeke had previously said.

As he began to ponder it, his eyes momentarily moved to Pandoria to confirm his thoughts. The crystal one her chest was more than enough proof to him. Pulling his gaze away, Byleth cupped his chin and looked off in the distance. "A humanoid weapon... called a blade... with a crystal on the chest..." he mumbled to himself as he began to piece all his thoughts together. There was no mistaking his thoughts, though there was no certainty to the claim he wished to make; the claim that those two might be from the same world which Pyra and Mythra had come from.

Things lined up with things he had learned about the aegis during his previous visit to the Smash Realm. They were called blades as well bore a very prominent crystal on their chest. Byleth even recalled that there was a boy that had tagged along with them and even occasionally helped them out in battle. It didn't seem all to far off to assume as much. However, by the time his thoughts were in order, Layton had already spoken up. The professor missed most of what he had to say, but tuned in just in time to hear tea mentioned.

Blinking in confusion, Byleth was unsure how to react, yet it seemed Luke was prepared and hurried off to prepare the tea while the rest of them were left to solve a puzzle the other professor wished to present them with. Admittedly, Byleth hardly was interested in a puzzle at the moment. His mind was racing with far too many thoughts, though one would probably think his mind was empty given the blank expression he donned.

Luckily for him, Zeke seemed up to taking it on. It spared him some time in his own mind. Saying nothing, Byleth took a step away from the small group that had formed, and allowed himself to return to his thoughts, though this time they weren't regarding Zeke, but rather the situation presented in Layton's letter.

If something is wrong here, then it's part of my duty to deal with it... The letter had stated this friend of the sender could cause dire consequences for all worlds... he thought to himself, closing his eyes as he did. Pillars of Creation and Destruction... I don't ever recall hearing of such last I was here... I wouldn't even know where to begin searching for them... The thought of such troubled Byleth, yet he desperately wanted an answer. Would the other Smash Brothers know? Perhaps not the other newcomers from the last tournament like himself, but maybe the others. There was no telling if he had the luxury of even asking them though.

Rubbing his temples out of sheer irritation, the professor was prepared to dive deeper into his own mind in search for answers, but Zeke's booming voice pulled him back to the reality he found himself in. The words "A Castle" echoed out and caused Byleth to turn his head to look in their direction just in time to hear Shez's response to the other man's answer.

It was immediately after that the purple haired swordswoman approached him. Her expression was evidently negative, though Byleth wasn't sure what emotion she was feeling. Discomfort? Displeasure? Maybe it was neither. Either way it was clearly aimed towards him, though he had no clue as to why.

Her words offered him an answer, though it wasn't one he could have prepared for. "Humor?" the professor repeated, his brow arching as he spoke. It took a moment for Byleth to come to the realization what she was referring to, but when he did, he gave a small shake of his head. "I do believe you have mistaken my lack of recognition towards you as a joke... I truly have no memories of us meeting." Pausing, Byleth's gaze shifted from Shez and toward the ground as he began to think once more. At this rate he was going to overwork it, if that was even possible.

"This may sound strange, but given the oddities of this world it could be true," he began once again. "It's possible you know me, but another me. I've met people here who have circumstances along those lines, so maybe, somehow there are multiple versions of me as well."

It felt like a longshot comparing himself to the likes of the Links, but if it was possible in one world, then it might be possible in others as well. The concept was certainly wild to him and he couldn't quite wrap his mind around it, but it was hard to argue when he had met Link, Young Link and Toon Link all during the previous tournament. Some of the old fighters had even mentioned Zelda having multiple versions as well. He supposed that made sense given she hailed from the same world as Link.

Flattening his brows, Byleth looked up at Shez once again. "Or maybe I had memory loss when I was blasted off that cliff while defending Garreg Mach... I suppose that is a possibility too."

Smiling as Pit and Toon Link passed her by on their descent down the stairs, Pyra quietly followed suit. The confidence she had only just shown had already begun to fade as the eeriness that beckoned from the bottom of the stairs slowly made its impression upon her. Creasing her brows, she took in a quiet, but deep breath and continued to move on. She couldn't falter now, not after they had come this far, and especially not after making a speech like she had. She had to stand behind her own words not only for her own sake, but Mythra's as well. She knew it would be what her other half would want.

Regaining a small portion of her lost confidence, Pyra pushed on, only coming to a stop when she noticed the pair in front of her had done so. Luckily the glow from her crystals and clothing had given her enough light to see them, though it wasn't enough to light the area around them- for that she was thankful. She was already self conscious of her glowing as is. Before she could offer to light their path with her flames, she watched as Pit pulled a torch and lit it. She supposed that spared her the effort.

Averting her gaze from the flickering flame, the aegis' eyes quietly began to scan the area that was now visible. The hall was empty with rusted bars lining either side, creating prison cells. It was unsettling, and briefly reminded her of the time she had been captured and held hostage. Thankfully it hadn't been anything like this though.

Feeling the uneasiness her companions were giving off, Pyra glanced in their direction, hoping the pair would be alright as they continued forward, especially after Pit expressed his distaste for prisons. Who could blame him? Such places were never pleasant, even she knew and understood that.

However, before she could offer words of comfort, the two in front of her burst off down the corridor without a word. It was only then that her own gaze fell upon the crystal- the treasure she presumed they were searching for. Its glow reminded her of the glow from her own core crystal, though unlike the core in her chest, this crystal radiated a power- one which she could not easily describe. It was the kind of power that lured people in, daring them to come for it.

Under different circumstances, Pyra would have refused to pursue its beaconing, but in this instance, she had no choice. If this was what they came from, all she could do was approach, although she would have wished for Pit and Toon Link not to rush for it. Things couldn't be changed now. She could at least proceed with caution.

That was exactly what she did. Her steps were light as she slowly trotted after her fellow Smash Brothers and her fingers curled ever more tightly around the hilt of her sword, causing its ether flames to radiated much stronger than before.

Despite how slowly she moved, much like Pit and Toon Link, Pyra was hit with the effects of the ship. The whispering circled around her, demanding she leave, but the aegis did no such thing. She pressed on even as it became harder and harder to breathe. Her whole body began to feel heavy and with each step, she felt herself drifting closer and closer to losing consciousness.

With her vision beginning to blur and her beginning to gurgle on her own saliva as she gasped for air, Pyra thought it was the end. Every part of her body was screaming it at her, yet a voice came piercing through all the negativity that was seeping in.

Don't give up now! Keep going! We're so close! That voice. Pyra would know it anywhere. Despite how faint it was in the depths of her mind, she knew Mythra had clawed her way through whatever barrier the ship had put between them. She wasn't willing to give in and Pyra wasn't either.

A rallying cry of defiance roared from the back of the aegis' throat and in that act came a sudden burst of speed. Her act of rebellion freed her from the ship's hold on her, but it was only that- a moment. That was when the shockwave hit and she felt her feet leave the floor. It was then everything became dark and her mind went completely blank. Was this the end?

Moments passed as the aegis laid there motionless- no thoughts, no words, no nothing. Everything about her in the moment indicated the worst, yet somewhere in the depths of her very being her other half fought her way to the surface of their mind once again.

PYRA! Her harsh tone jolted the redhead's mind back to a conscious state, though a fog hung over her and she still did not move. Again, Mythra's stern tone rang out. PYRA! COME ON! YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS!

She was right. She was better than this, yet hesitant clung to her very being, keeping her trapped. Even if she should stand, would she even be strong enough? Could she actually stand up to whatever it was that had so easily thrown her like a ragdoll? That doubt refused to leave Pyra, but thankfully she was not alone.

In a roar of sheer anger, Mythra's screams echoed out in the aegis' mind. There were no words attached, only sharp, and powerful yells as if the other was fighting something off. Was she fighting "the fears?" Perhaps she was.

Mythra? Pyra finally spoke. Immediately the screams stopped and in that moment, the redhead felt as if a burden had been lifted off her own shoulders.

See? No need to worry! We can do this! Don't forget what Rex did for us! He set us free from that fear- from that constant desire to die! If he were here now he'd be preaching that positivity over and over until we agreed with him! We can stand, and we can fight! Together!

It must have been the first time Pyra had ever heard Mythra act so positively. Her words rang true though. Maybe Mythra had realized that after her breakdown before- realized what Rex had done for them not all that long ago. Now she too needed to accept it. You're right, Mythra. We have to do this, or we would be putting the driver of the Aegis to shame.

All went silent between the two aegis, but it wasn't the end.

A flash of light quickly enveloped and lifted Pyra's motionless body from the ground. It was the same light that occurred whenever she transformed to Mythra, however, this wasn't the usual. From that light came an entirely different person. Her white and cyan armor was layered over black underclothes, and upon her chest rest the emerald core crystal both Pyra and Mythra had, though beneath it the name "Pneuma" was etched. The similarities didn't end there though. A top her head, she donned a headpiece similar to both the aegises and even her bangs swooped in the same manner, although now her hair was a greenish-blue color and hung in a long ponytail.

Gracefully dropping to her feet, Pneuma stretched her arm out, allowing her sword to manifest in it. The blade was much like Mythra's, but the ether that flowed from it wasn't yellow, but rather emerald green to match her core crystal.

Despite her graceful entrance, the true aegis' knew she had no time to waste. It was lucky enough she had been able to take form as is, but the will of both Pyra and Mythra had made it so, even without Rex's presence. Perhaps it was the doings of this world. Such a question could wait to be answered. For now, she had business to take care.

Eyes flickering about, they were soon pulled to the glow of Toon Link's triforce. That was her target location. As she prepared to push herself forward, Pneuma paused for a moment as the clanking of metal rang out. That wasn't good. Soon enough Pit's words followed, and the feeling in her gut sank even more. Something was gravely wrong, and she needed to hurry.

With a burst of speed, Pneuma darted forward and as she neared the two Smash Brothers, she instantly noticed the pair with their weapons locked against one another. Given what she had made out of the angel's words and what she could sense radiating from him, something was wrong. She could only assume the ship had taken ahold of him. A few more steps and it became obvious- his eyes glowed the same way the crystal had. They'd have to find a way to free him, if it was even possible. The thought of what would need to happen if they couldn't caused her stomach to churn, but she held herself together. What was important now was helping Toon Link.

There was no hesitation in her movements as she closed in on the two and without warning, Pneuma rammed herself into the angel, pushing him away from the Hylian before protectively stepping in front of the younger fighter. While she knew he was more than capable of holding his own, it was a bit of a habit.

"Pit, I know you're somewhere in there! Fight the fear! We don't need to fight like this!" she called out, her voice mimicking the tones Mythra usually spoke in. "But if you don't stand down, then let me warn you... you stand before the true form of the Aegis, Pneuma, and I will not back down!"

"Well done, Mister Zekenator, Miss Pandoria" Layton praised. "The answer is, indeed, a castle. I couldn't help but be inspired by this fascinating fortress."

The Professor remained pleasant and friendly, his calm and quiet demeanor a sharp contrast to Zeke and Pandoria's bombastic energy. Zeke had sheathed his sword; that was good. As a gentleman, Layton wanted to resolve any differences between the people around him with as little violence as possible. Byleth could certainly take care of himself, but Layton felt it was the very least he could do to return the favor by keeping the other professor from the trouble of having to defend himself.

As Luke removed the tea set from its basket and looked through his ingredients, he looked over his shoulder to see Zeke and Pandoria talk amongst themselves while also staring back at him and the Professor. His face scrunched up with suspicion before returning to his task. He overheard something about lemon slices, but he had no lemons on hand. He did have Belle Tart Seed, however. Luke decided on brewing the Belle Classic, a classic tea with a touch of tartness thanks to the seed. It was a safe choice of tea recipe to use when there was a group of people and he didn't know the preferences of each individual.

Layton held up a finger as he addressed Zeke again. "I would expect that riddle to be but a mere warm up for ones of such keen wit, sir. Perhaps this puzzle will be a more worthy challenge to you and your lady:

'A king invited special guests to a dinner at his round dining table. The seats were arranged so that every guest sat at evenly spaced intervals around this table.

The Queen and the Princess, also attending the dinner, found that neither of them had a woman sitting directly opposite or adjacent to them.

What is the fewest number of people possible that could be sitting at the table?'
"

The answer is 5. They would have to be sitting in the shape of a pentagon.

Toon Link & Pit
Where: Ghost Ship
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy )

Pit let out a loud grunt as he was suddenly tackled away from Toon Link. The force caused him to fly backward, but he landed on his feet and slid until he came to a stop. His eyes narrowed menacingly at Pneuma as she ordered him to stand down, warning him of who she was. "... Is that so?" Pit went into a stance. His blades crackled with dark, destructive energies. "You've brought this upon yourself!"

He charged at Pneuma, closing the distance between them with incredible speed. "I will strike you down! Angel Land must be redeemed!"

Pit had been the Captain of Lady Palutena's Royal Guard for as long as he could remember. Even when he was a small putto, wings still fluffy with the soft down of baby feathers, he had been Captain. It was the purpose for which Palutena had created him, and it was the only life he had known. No other angel could match him in fighting prowess nor in military strategy, in training or games of Light vs Dark. Yet, outside of the occasional demon or Shemum causing trouble, Pit had never truly been tested in battle. Times were peaceful in Angel Land.

Then the unthinkable happened: Medusa the Goddess of Darkness, who ruled Angel Land alongside Palutena, betrayed the heavens. She attacked the humans, turning them to stone and undoing Palutena's good work. In her anger, Palutena transformed Medusa into a hideous monster and banished her from Angel Land forever. Exiled to the Underworld, the denizens of Angel Land, both mortal and divine, thought that would be the last they would ever see or hear of Medusa.

However, Medusa's rage was great. Desiring vengeance, she rallied the demons of the Underworld to her side. Other gods, such as Uranos the God of the Sky, Holer the God of Plants, and the rather irritating God of Poverty also betrayed Palutena and pledged their allegience to Medusa. With her new army, Medusa launched a surprise attack on the heavens that devastated all of Angel Land. Most of Palutena's angels were turned to stone. Those that fell in battle were reanimated as Collins, adding to the Underworld Army's numbers. Palutena was sealed away in her own temple, her divine power drained, while the Three Sacred Treasures were claimed by Medusa and bestowed upon her most powerful minions. Pit was taken prisoner and locked away in the foul dungeons deep within the Underworld.

Seeing his jail cell again brought the repressed memories of that horrible day rushing back into Pit's mind. The angel had been forcefully infused with the crystal shard's negative energies, and as Pit relived that day when the sky was darkened with the wings of demons and Palutena's light faded, his heart faltered... and Fear took hold.

Pit's blades were a blur as he attacked the Aegis; hacking and slashing, thrusting and kicking. He was in a frenzy, striking out in rage and desperation. The dark energies infusing his blades lent more power to his attacks, sparks flying as they met Pneuma's blade.

Toon Link watched in awe of the two fighters until the reality of the situation sank in and his face grew grim. Toon Link had faced possessed allies before: once with Captain Linebeck, and again after the attack of Galeem and Dharkon. Though it hurt him to see Pit in such a confused and tormented state, he knew the usual way of restoring one's senses is to literally beat the sense back into them. He'll leave that to Pneuma. While Pneuma kept Pit busy, maybe he can get that crystal shard! He was certain that crystal is the source of the Ghost Ship's curse. Maybe if he got a hold of it, it will finally put an end to things. Toon Link rushed for the crystal.

Seeing Toon Link, Pit broke away from Pneuma and snapped his blades together to reform his bow. He fired an arrow of pure darkness at the Hylian swordsman. "Back off!"

"Whaa-!!" Toon Link jumped into a forward roll and barely evaded the arrow. It struck the wooden wall and exploded, opening a hole in the ship's hull that was immediately sealed up due to the ship's magical nature. Toon Link swallowed. It would have been really bad had that arrow hit him!

Pit raised a hand into the air then shot it forward in a point toward the two Smash Fighters. "All troops... MOVE OUT!"

A ghostly army of Centurions formed in the mists. They nocked arrows made of that same destructive energy on to their bows and charged!

Toon Link chopped down a Centurion and it dissipated into the mists. It was clear that Pit had to be dealt with before one could even think about going near that crystal. Toon Link called to Pneuma. He'll handle the Centurions while she fought Pit. Fortunately, the phantom Centurions were just as weak as the real things!

Dark Pit & Pikachu
Where: The Lake Shore
With: Princess Peach ( Minako Minako ), Princess Zelda ( SheepKing SheepKing ), Cream & Cheese ( SirPrompto15 SirPrompto15 )

Dark Pit's face was deadpanned. "You... got lost."

Peach had been participating in the Super Smash Brothers tournaments longer than he has; shouldn't she be familiar with where the Stadium was by now? Then again, Dark Pit always figured the princess was, well, blonde. When Princess Zelda added on that she was intercepted on the way to the Stadium as well, the dark angel appeared thoughtful. A listening ear could hear him mutter to himself, "... Pit never made it to the Stadium."

Dark Pit's eyes squinted. It was hard to think and keep focus, but his proud and stubborn nature forced him to remain stoic. As Peach inquired as to his condition, he folded his arms and huffed, "I'm fine, not that it's any of your business!"

There was no way in Hell he was going to tell anyone that a bunch of dumb Koopas got a lucky shot at him!

Nurse Joy, still holding Pikachu, sighed softly in disappointment. "I was hoping you had news of my sister. She's the Nurse Joy who cares for the Pokemon at the Stadium. As for this young man's condition, I'm afraid doctor-patient confidentiality prevents me from speaking on his behalf. I can tell you that Big was the one who brought him here."

The big purple cat waved at the Super Bash Sisters. "Umm... I'm a cat. My name is Big, because I'm big." He gestured to the frog still perched on Dark Pit's head. "And that's my bestest buddy, Froggy. He's a frog. Uh, I was on my way to the lake to fish when I found your friend. He was walking on the path looking lost and dizzy. Um, I think I'd be lost and dizzy too if I had that many bumps on my head!" Unaware of Dark Pit's glare, Big continued. "He looked like he was going to fall down at any moment, so I picked him up and took him to the doctor."

The Lake Scientist picked up from where Big left off. "Yes, we were tending to the boy's hurts when he regained consciousness and, as a show of gratitude, decided to destroy my lab. Hmph! It will take me forever to get the laboratory back in order!"

Dark Pit scowled. He woke up in a strange place with strange people, one holding a syringe and needle! How in the world was one supposed to react to that?!

The Lake Scientist's irritation quickly vanished as Zelda addressed him. He chuckled, "Ho ho ho! Please, Princess Zelda, just call me Doctor, or 'Doc'. Everyone else does! I must say that it is good you didn't reach the Stadium. Word has it that the place is teeming with all sorts of riffraff now, all working for Lunaris. Erm, have you heard? You're all wanted criminals now! Not that I'd turn you in, oh no! But you might want to keep your heads down! Now, what is it you wanted to ask, my dear?"

Seeing as Nurse Joy and the Scientist were busy talking to the other fighters, Dark Pit decided that was as good a time as any to make his getaway. He had places to be, people to find, and he didn't care for being fussed over. As swiftly as he could, Dark Pit slipped away from the group, as silent as a shadow.

At that very moment, Pit succumbed to corruption.

Just as Dark Pit was about to get away, he wilted, like a flower caught in a sudden frost. He clapped one hand to his head as the other felt for a solid surface to support himself on, soon finding a tree trunk to lean against. He could sense his twin's terror, his torment! Pit was in grave trouble! Dark Pit's connection with the angel of light told him he was somewhere to the east. That is where he must go! The dark reflection pushed himself off the tree trunk and staggered eastward. "White-winged idiot... What did you do this time?"

Dark Pit came to a stop as he bumped into a solid metal surface. Samus Aran was standing in his path. A quick scan told her everything she needed to know. Just the fact that Dark Pit could move and talk at all was a testament to an angel's durability and willpower; Palutena's angels were definitely built tough! The Centurions, however...

"... Move," Dark Pit ordered, forehead resting against the armored huntress.

"Go around," Samus countered.

Dark Pit didn't move. If he did, he knew he would collapse. The point was made.

"I cannot let you leave," Samus said. It was too much of a risk to let Dark Pit go. Being captured or killed by Lunaris and his followers was a bad enough scenario; the angel possibly making an alliance with the wizard was worse! Though Pit had vouched for Dark Pit in the past, and he offered his aid in the disastrous first fight against Galeem, Samus couldn't bring herself to fully trust him. Dark Pit has a history of being an ally in one instance, then an enemy in another. Until Samus was certain of where Dark Pit's loyalties lie, if he even had any, he was under her custody... whether he cooperated or not!

Pit's words were enough to tell Pneuma where things were going- and it wasn't for the better. She had figured this would come. While she had wished words would have worked, she knew this fear was caused by the ship's very source of power. It was similar to what she had experienced as Mythra, but far more powerful. Back then she knew she was being manipulated and toyed with, but even so, escaping had been difficult. This was likely that, but with no real way of shaking it off alone. If that was so, then she'd gladly pull her friend back.

In the angel's burst of speed, the aegis swiftly lifted her blade up to meet his oncoming attack. As metal met metal, a loud clank echoed out through the corridor, followed by a faint grunt from Pneuma's throat. Despite her own boost in power, it was clear Pit also had received one, unless he had simply gotten that much stronger since the last tournament. It wasn't impossible, but she figured he would have displayed such strength at some point in their journey, yet she couldn't recall seeing it. Then again, who was she to speak. She only had just revealed a third form- one which most in this world didn't even know existed unless they somehow had accounts of her own journey.

Pushing the thought aside, Pneuma's blade moved with the same speed as Pit's attacks, making it clear she retained Mythra's speed and then some. Even with her ability to keep up with the angel's fury, she could still feel each blow resonating through her sword. The sheer power behind each attack would have made any ordinary fighter drop after only a few strikes, but she was far from ordinary. However, there was a limit to her own strength and that was Rex's absence. He did still have part of her life force after all, thus her full power could only exist if he was around. She'd have to make due with that minor set back.

Letting out a sharp breath, the blade side stepped an oncoming kick before attempting to retaliate with her own, but unfortunately it was with no success. Her failure immediately was met with yet another oncoming swipe of Pit's blades. It seemed offense wasn't an option. For now Pneuma needed to stay on the defensive.

Again the two became locked in a flurry of steel. It wouldn't last for much longer though. Faintly, Pneuma could hear Toon Link's boots hitting against the floor as he hurried along beind her. She could only assume what his aim was- the crystal. If that was so, then she needed to make sure he was able to reach his goal unharmed. Finding an opening, the aegis burst forward at the angel and swung her sword down with what force she could muster. Despite her attempt though, it only ended in the two of them being separated and Pit moving even further as he noticed what the Hylian was trying to achieve.

There was nothing Pneuma could do but watch in horror as the angel fired his arrow of pure darkness in Toon Link's direction. Her heart raced in her chest and in the moment, she thought she had failed her companion, but against the odds the younger fighter was able to dodge. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, but such relief was only momentary. Pit's rallying cry only brought more trouble and soon enough centurions made from the mist filled the hall as well.

Creasing her brows, the aegis raised her blade and instinctively cut down one that had manifested beside her. Pneuma would have gone on to swiftly deal with several more, but Toon Link's voice stopped her and when he made their roles clear, she gave a small nod of her head. As long as he was confident he could handle them, then she had no problems leaving them to him. Pit did need to be taken care of after all.

Shifting her gaze back onto the angel, Pneuma's grip on her sword tightened, causing the ether in it to flare up even more than it already had. The green energy flickered around the blade, surging with power and without notice, the woman pushed herself forward again. She moved with incredible speed and within mere seconds found herself in front of the angel once again. "YOUR FIGHT IS WITH ME!"

Matching the ferocity of her words, she forcefully swung her sword at the angel with both strength and speed she hadn't shown before. If it hadn't been clear before in her statement prior to the fight, then it was clear now- she truly wasn't going to stand down. She was going to do everything in her power to return Pit to his usual self. Draining her own strength was no issue if it meant helping someone she cared about.

One swipe wasn't all Pneuma had in her. Much like Pit had done to her before, she returned it, albeit in a manner similar to Mythra's Photon Edge. The aegis moved like a blur, seemingly disappearing and reappearing with each strike she took. With each strike she tried to put in more force than the last, hoping to break through the angel's defenses now that she had an offensive opportunity on her hands.

Toon Link & Pit
Where: Ghost Ship
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy )

Toon Link dropped into a roll as the Centurions fired a volley of arrows at him. They struck the wooden deck, exploding upon impact. The Hylian swordsman charged his blade and unleashed a Spin Attack that quickly disposed of them. Toon Link grunted as he caught a group firing arrows at Pneuma and lobbed his boomerang at them, taking them out. Another Centurion charged at Pneuma. Toon Link's hookshot snatched it from the air and brought it close enough for the boy to dispatch it with a swing of the Master Sword.

Pit was about to charge into battle and support his troops but Pneuma was faster, closing the distance between the two fighters in an instant. Palutena's Bow was brought up to block the initial strike from the Aegis's sword, Pit grunting as sparks flew from the clashing blades. He was able to shift enough to block a second strike, but the speed and strength in which Pneuma struck his bow was enough to knock him off balance, opening him to the flurry of strikes she unleashed upon him. His cries joined the cacophony of screams and wails from the terror-struck sailors outside as blow after blow was laid on him, until the last blow from Pneuma's blade sent him flying across the hold, his body striking the deck once before rolling to a stop at the stairs.

Black sparks crackled on the angel's body as he dug his bow into the deck and forced himself onto one knee, body heaving with heavy breaths. His eyes widened as he beheld Toon Link chopping down his army. "No! NO!"

Witnessing the destruction of his army caused Pit's fear to grow, and the crystal shard responded to it. It flashed, and the mists swirled around the angel in an ethereal barrier. Still on his knees, Pit threw his right hand into the air.

"Lady Palutena! Please give me strength! I know with your help I will be victorious! We can still win!"

A ghostly facsimile of the Goddess of Light materialized behind Pit, born from his fear and powered by the crystal. Palutena raised her staff and numerous swirling pools of concetrated negative energies formed upon the wooden deck. Toon Link wasn't that deeply knowledgable on such things, but he knew enough that stepping into the pools was bad! Things just got really nasty!

Pit got a second wind and charged, the phantom Palutena hovering behind him. As the distance between them closed, Toon Link and Pit's eyes locked, and the Hylian was suddenly hit with a vision of his own death. Toon Link's eyes shut as he flinched, giving the corrupted angel the opportunity to strike him down with a stunning blow to the head. As Toon Link crumpled to the ground, Pit turned to face Pneuma and shot toward her once more, his bow spinning in the infamous Angel Ring attack. The fake Palutena pointed her staff at Pneuma and fired lasers of dark energy, similar to Pit's arrows, at her.

"Go down! GO DOWN!"

Cream then overheard about Dark Pit.
" This Dark Pit reminds of Mr Shadow. He might be trouble but perhaps there is good inside him?"

Cream was still young and naive.

As Pit was sent across the hold, Pneuma took a brief moment to catch her own breath. She knew she wouldn't have long though. If she wanted to win, then she needed to keep up the pressure and not allow the angel a moments rest. The more time she allowed him to recover, the worse it would become for her. It was best to avoid such a situation if at all possible.

Preparing to launch herself forward again and begin yet another flurry of rapid strikes, the aegis was stopped as the flash of the crystal caught the corner of her eyes. It was reacting to something- most likely Pit- and she knew that could not mean good things to come. Out of desperation, Pneuma pushed herself forward in a burst of speed in hopes of stopping whatever had started, but as she swung her blade downward in Pit's direction, it clashed with the barrier that had formed around him and forced her back.

"Not good..." she breathed out. She had given him too much space and now she was going to pay the price for it.

Pit's words echoed out and caused Pneuma's expression to drop. Would Palutena actually heed his call? She wanted to believe the goddess wouldn't, yet this was her faithful servant so the possibility couldn't be ignored. However, much to her surprise, the mists were able to create a Palutena of its own. While it was clear it wasn't the real one, she knew better than to underestimate what it might be capable of.

Composing herself, the aegis carefully watched as pools of negative energy began to swirl around the area. One look was all she needed to tell that they were trouble and needed to be avoided. Their energy oddly radiated with a similar aura to what Malos gave off and that in itself was bad news. She needed to be on her toes.

Pneuma would do just that. Swiftly moving around the pools, the blade slowly made progress in closing the gap between her and Pit once more, but as she neared, the angel took off in Toon Link's direction and before she could even try to help, the Hylian was struck down. The sight of him crumbling to the ground caused her eyes to widen in sheer shock and she froze in place. "T'INK!" Her voice bounced of the walls, allowing her distraught to be heard throughout the hold.

How could she let this happen? She didn't know. Guilt was quick to eat away at her, and force the previous bouts of destruction she had caused to momentarily resurface. People always died because of her. She couldn't save anyone because she was a weapon of destruction- nothing more, nothing less.

As such thoughts began to creep into her mind, the crystals on her head and chest began to glow brighter. Was she losing her form? It was possible. Pneuma was supposed to be the result of her completely accepting herself after all and with such negativity seeping in, it wouldn't come as a surprise if she was about to be forced back into Pyra or Mythra.

Are we going to lose?

Did we fail to save them?

Both Aegises concerns began to echo out in Pneuma's mind as the angel and his fake goddess turned their attention towards her. Her vision was a blur though and she made no movements to avoid either oncoming attack. Instead, she found herself buried further into her own mind.

Mythra... Pyra's call was met with silence. She wasn't a sure if that was a good or bad thing though. Mythra... we can't go out like this! Rex would never want this!

Those words, they rung true and resonated with Mythra's own thoughts. They hadn't lost, nor had they failed to save those around them. None of this was their fault and both her and Pyra knew that. They just had to find the strength to fight on and prove that they could save others.

I'm tired of this ship's little mind games! We will save them! Let's do this! Together as one, we can't be stopped!

The newfound resolve resonated throughout Pneuma. In the blink of an eye the fear that had found its way into her eyes dissipated and was replaced with a glint of determination.

In the nick of time, the aegis narrowly avoided the lasers that the ghastly Palutena had fired at her and she lifted her sword up to meet Pit's own attack. Unfortunately, she could only defend against it, though only for a short while. The constant spin of the bow was enough to push her back, though she was able to stay standing.

Breathing heavily, Pneuma gripped her sword tighter. Her own strength was going to give out sooner or later if she didn't come up with a way to end this soon. She needed her own boost, much like Pit had gotten Palutena. Was that even possible? Furrowing her brows, the aegis knew she had to at least believe it was. If she couldn't gain power from Rex though, then she had to look elsewhere- and hopefully that elsewhere would respond.

Quickly holding her sword vertically in front of herself, Pneuma closed her eyes. She knew she was about to make a big gamble, but it was all she could do. Besides, it had been possible in the Smash Realm before- albeit only with the aid of a Smash Ball, and with Rex present- but even so, she had to try for not only her own sake, but Pit and Toon Link's as well.

"SIREN, HEED MY CALL!"

For a moment nothing happened. It seemed as if the aegis' call for help would fall upon deaf ears, but Pneuma held out. Opening her eyes once more, she narrowed them and bellowed out again. "SIREN!"

Again, nothing seemed to immediately happen, but as seconds passed, the Aegis Sword soon reacted to something. Like a bolt of lightning, a beam of light shot down from the skies above, and pierced through the Ghost Ship to flow into Pneuma's blade. The sudden burst of energy caused its ether to surge even greater than before and the aegis became briefly shrouded in a veil of light.

"YOU GO DOWN!" Pneuma cried out. Using the brief surge of power provided to her by Siren, she swung her blade down upon Pit knowing this was her final chance to end things. Everything depended on this attack, thus she put all she had into it. Her Infinity Blade could not fail her now. She couldn't afford it to.

Princess Peach

The Mushroom Princess slightly hung her head but nodded in response to the Nurse. That was fair, Peach supposed.

"Always so grumpy..." Princess Peach sighed while resting a cheek on her palm, exasperated with the dark-winged Angel and wishing his lighter-winged counterpart was present to "ground" Dark Pit.

"He's going to get permanent, premature wrinkles on his face if he keeps frowning like that," The Pink Princess muttered to the Wise Hylian Princess concernedly, genuinely believing so since Toadsworth would always tell her whenever SHE frowned or made other such uncouth faces.

"Mmmm... Zelda told us when we rendezvoused with her," Peach mumbled unhappily as she nodded upon hearing the news, adding, "Any idea what sort of "riffraff" await us at the Stadium, Sir?"

There was a lurch in her stomach whenever reminded they were, at least in this world, wanted felons... A simple reunion trip was quickly turning into a race to gather Pillars and fighters to save the realm--

And Peach was without her plumbing hero to help her!

"Maybe... Maybe we should turn back... To the Mushroom Kingdom... Go fetch Mario..." The pink Princess internally contemplated before then slightly shaking her head and dismissing the idea.

She refused.

The whole point of this venture was to prove to herself she could do this on her own and, gosh darn it, that's just HOW she was going to do this: ON HER OWN.

WITHOUT MARIO.

She looked behind the Nurse and Scientist to see Samus had intercepted Dark Pit trying to leave and felt both bad and relieved: They would need his help, and surely as soon as they explained things to him the dark-winged Angel would help them...

As Inkling continued to supply aid from the back ends of the team, she’d spot Pather rushing forward to aid the overwhelmed Joker, leaving it to her and Prompto to hold the fort. Yet as she did, this left a spot free for some chums to slip on through their barrier of fighters, leaving it up to the squid to take them down. And so she reached for a splatbomb and hurdled it there way, a burst of orange ink splattering all over the area, quickly doing away with the nearby salmonids. She was about to switch back to her main weapon when the inkling heard a second bomb go off. That’s strange, she hadn’t thrown a second bomb had she? There certainly didn’t appear to be any more ink from before. Inkling scanned the area, stumbling on the source of the sound.

A small path of red geometric…something was splattered across the grass. She couldn’t tell if it was a solid, liquid, or something else entirely! Yet, as she drew near and cautiously tapped the end of her weapon against the surface, pieces of the red frame clung onto it and dripped, just like any other liquid.

Almost like…Ink?

Wrapped up in all of her confusion, she’d nearly miss someone calling out. Only, it certainly wasn’t from any of her allies that’s for sure. No, definitely not. And yet the voice almost sounded familiar? The voice called out again.

1683841911999.png

Like a bad case of deja vu, just at the end of her tongue yet still she couldn’t place it. She swore she'd heard that voice before but where and and more importantly, from who?

She peers at the front end of the battle, and soon finds her answer right as “It” speaks again. Yet, all it brings is even more questions for her brain to grapple with.

1683841948924.png

Amongst fellow wired entities crafted in the crude shapes of fellow fighters stands the vague approximation of a male inkling. The same pointy ears, two tentacles tied up in a ponytail, everything was there. However, it’s blank expressionless face and crude form tattled on the creature.

This was no inkling.

The “thing” rose its head, its expressionless face coldly staring her down from across the battlefield. It didn’t make a move, not even to throw another one of it’s “Bombs” or whatever cheap copy of a weapon it had on hand. No, it just stared and stared, sending a chill down the Inkling’s spine. Despite the unnerving presence of the creature, Inkling shook her head to do away with the unease. As she looked back however, it and it’s fellow wireframed allies were gone, an army of polygonal forces left in there wake. And although Joker, Panther, and Noctis sought to quickly deal with them, there were far too many for at least a few to not slip past them, leaving it up to Prompto and herself to pick off the stragglers.

Quickly, Inkling switched out her Charger weapon for the Splattershot and went to hurriedly take down any chums, bokoblins and polygonal creatures within the nearby area. She’d dip and weave about the area, swimming in ink and popping out to catch the foe by surprise before quickly returning to squid form. She’d even swim up from right under Prompto, popping up like a weasel to shoot down a Pichu polygon that had gotten too close to him for her comfort.

“Woomy!”

Giving him a brisk nod, she once more slipped back into squid form and swam forward once she’d taken out a good chunk of the stragglers, switching back to her main task of defense. Whatever that “Inkling” and its cohorts were didn’t matter. Not when there were far more important matters to take care of first. Namely, making sure she and her friends didn’t meet a geometrical end at the hands of these creatures.

Toon Link & Pit
Where: Ghost Ship
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy )

As Pneuma called for Siren, Pit charged, crackling blades raised for an attack. Behind him, the phantom Palutena raised her staff, conjuring a ball of dark and destructive energies that grew larger and larger. Pneuma called for Siren again! The angel was getting closer! The ball of energy was getting bigger! As the bolt of light struck Pneuma's blade, Pit had closed the distance between them. A war cry tore from his throat as he brought his blades down in a powerful strike! Palutena aimed the enlarged energy sphere at Pneuma!

Both attacks never came!

Two spinning images of the Triforce appeared and trapped the two, freezing them in place and halting their attacks! Pit screamed as his fear-corrupted body was exposed to the pure energies of Courage. Being a cartoon, Toon Link was a durable little fellow and he was able to make a speedy recovery. He was on one knee, his left hand raised and clenched in a fist, the back of his hand facing the combatants and revealing the glowing mark of the Triforce. This was the binding spell the Links used before unleashing the Triforce Slash! But Toon Link did not attack; he was holding Pit in place for Pneuma to strike! And strike she did!

The blade cleaved through the mists, through Pit, and through the ghostly apparition of Palutena! There was a flash of light as the Triforces shattered! Pit's blades spun through the air! Palutena's incorporeal form faded into the mists!

The negative energies that corrupted Pit were expelled from his body. As the angel fell to his knees, those energies coalesced into a large, twitching gloved hand. Its high-pitched maddened voice howled as it floated higher into the air, twisting and writhing, until it dissolved into nothingness. Toon Link watched with wide eyes. Was that just... Crazy Hand?

Pit had to support himself on his hands to keep from face-planting onto the deck. His battered body heaved as he took deep breaths. For a moment, he remained that way, and right when it seemed like he may need some consoling, he bounced right back up onto his feet and pumped a fist into the air.

"WOOHOO! Free at last! Whoa-WHOA!"

Pit's legs gave in and he fell onto his rear with a pained grunt. He rubbed his smarting backside. "Ow... Pyra, Mythra, when you have to beat the sense into someone, you REALLY beat it into 'em, huh?" Pit then sighed, becoming somber. "It... it was awful! All I could see was darkness! It was like being trapped in a nightmare, and I couldn't wake up!"

Toon Link smiled and sighed softly with relief. He was so glad his friends were okay! Toon Link raised a hand toward Pit and let out a small reassuring giggle. He held no grudges, and the fact that Pit had struck him down with a hilt blow to the head rather than cut him down meant that the angel had been trying to fight back the corruption!

Toon Link lowered his hand and his face became serious. He turned his stern gaze toward the crystal shard. The Hylian moved with a purpose, reaching the iron ring that held the crystal and jumped up to snatch it. As Toon Link landed on the floor, he let out a cry of pained shock. The crystal began to glow yet again! It was so icy cold that it burned on contact! But Toon Link refused to let go! He gripped the shard with his other hand and pressed it to his body. The air condensed into ice on Toon Link's body. His stomach churned as his mind was assaulted with rapidly changing images of his violent demise. A demonic voice roared at him to release it or perish! The crystal was putting up one last fight; will Courage overcome Fear?

The swordsman's body began to turn that same ghostly white that afflicted Pit. Icicles hung from his body. The Triforce of Courage on Toon Link's left hand glowed brightly! The light from the crystal grew more and more intense! Just as Toon Link thought his mind was going to break, the light from the crystal faded, and Toon Link didn't feel cold anymore. The mists in the Ghost Ship dispersed as if blown away by the wind. The screaming outside stopped, and all that could be heard were the quiet waves of the sea. The air no longer felt heavy and ominous, and the interior of the Ghost Ship appeared to lighten up. The crystal had accepted defeat; the curse of the Ghost Ship was no more!

Toon Link jumped up and down in a happy dance, the icicles falling off his body as he held the crystal shard up and waved it in the air for the angel and the Aegis to see.

The personas couldn't hold the wireframe for long, especially when the one of the phantom thief came back to aid its companions. Their strong frontline was broke and despite their efforts to catch the figures before they could dive into the defensive lines behind them, it was too late. The wireframes quickly spread out and rushed to confront those they had deemed their "counterparts" even though it was a stretch to call them such. Even so, the Cloud wireframe rushed towards Noctis, the male Inkling towards Agent Three and the Joker back towards Ren.

This failure was enough to draw the personas back as well, although not without taking out many polygon fighters along the way. Even if they had failed to keep the front line held, the least they could do was make the battle easier on their allies.

Seeing Arsene and Carmen pulling back, Joker's brows creased and before he could even think to question their reasoning, he heard a shot fired. It wasn't like the sound of Prompto's gun- it sounded like his own. That could only mean...

His mind had no time to process it before the wirey bullet grazed along his left arm. A cry of pain immediately escaped Joker's lips and he dropped his dagger in order to throw his hand over the freshly opened wound. "Dammit! That hurt!" he hissed under his breath. He was lucky it hadn't been worse. A bullet grazing him was one thing, but if he had actually been shot, it could have spelled major issues for the group. At least like this, he could still figure out how to fight, even if it was through some immense pain.

Lifting his hand off the wound, Ren quietly noted the blood that already stained his coat where it had been torn. Unfortunately it was bleeding worse than he would have liked and as much as he wanted to dress it to slow the bleeding, he wouldn't be allowed to. The sound of another shot told him that much. This time he was ready though, and in the blink of an eye, he swiftly moved aside and turned himself in the attackers direction.

This is bad... Even though I should easily outclass it in strength, it caught me off guard... Damn polygon fighters taking all my attention... he mentally grumbled as gray orbs silently flickered about the battlefield. He needed to fight back, but he was down a weapon and to some extent, an arm. Still, he couldn't let his companions down. Not now. He was supposed to be their leader. He needed to act the part. Think Ren, think!

Thinking was out of the question. The moment Joker tried to formulate a plan in his head the wireframe darted forward with dagger at the ready. A plan had to wait. Quickly, he tossed his pistol to his right hand and brought it up to defend himself, but not in an orthodox manner. An easy defense would have been to simply shoot, yet Ren had other ideas and as the dagger was swung at him, he met the swing with his gun and held the attack back with it.

A growl rumbled in his throat as he and the wireframe struggled to push against one another. Joker could feel the pressure of the other pushing down on him, especially in his injured arm as it helped support his gun against the other's blade. His arms began to quiver, and he knew he needed to do something and fast otherwise his strength would give out on him.

Without much thought, the phantom thief lifted a leg and quickly thrust his foot into the wireframe's gut. The force was more than enough to send it back and give Joker a few seconds to gather himself. Those few seconds were more than enough for him to take the offense. Turning his gun to face forward, a smirk curled at the corners of Ren's lips. "My turn now."

Those words held an odd, dark undertone to them, but it was clear what the thief planned to do and he didn't hesitate. In an instant he pulled the trigger and his own shot echoed out as it flew through the air and eventually forced its way through the right shoulder of his target. Immediately the figure's hand dropped its own pistol and moved its hand to cover its injury, although it had no reason to. Clearly it was acting much like he would have. How curious. As interesting as it was, Joker knew he had to seize this opportunity. This was his opening and he couldn't let it go to waste.

Darting forward in a flash, Ren closed the gap between him and his doppelganger. It was just him and it- even the fake Arsene had abandoned it, allowing it to be a true one-on-one even if it hadn't done any to begin with. As the thief drew near, the wireframe immediately reacted to him and without thinking it tackled Joker to the ground.

Feeling his back hit the ground, the teen grunted out, but kept his mind focused. He had to otherwise he'd end up with a stab wound. Seeing the blade violently swung down at him, Ren struggled beneath the wireframe and pushed it off before its attack could meet any part of him. Luckily for him, his struggle caused the doppelganger to lose the dagger, leaving it wide open for him.

Managing to get himself into a crouching position, Joker pushed himself forward the best he could and pinned the wireframe thief down. Despite the others struggle, he held his own and soon enough pressed the barrel of his pistol against the fake's head. "You will never beat the original."

Again, dark undertones laced his words. It was clear he didn't appreciate being copied. In a way, it was as if he was defeating a shadow of himself, though this thing was clearly no part of him. It was nothing more than a cheap imitation that would never hold a flame to the real thing. Joker would never let himself lose to anything that tried to mimic him. Proving himself as the best and only version of himself was an odd thing of pride.

His pride would be the reason he pulled the trigger and despite how arrogant he had come off as, he had lifted his gaze as he fired the shot. He did not want to see his kill, even if it was a mere wireframe he had killed. Joker knew the deed was done when he no longer felt a struggle beneath him. As much as he wanted to uphold his ego, he found a sense of remorse settling in. No... Don't let guilt slide in... It was no living being.

A sigh escaped his lips as that thought crossed his mind and he slowly clambered to his feet. That was when the limp wireframe began to dissipate. Seeing the red wires rise from its body and disintegrate into small orbs briefly took Joker by surprise, but after a moment it actually helped settle his guilt. That was good.

Joker quietly watched the orbs until he felt a sharp jab at his side. His body immediately reacted on its own and swiftly, he lifted his pistol and aimed it towards his "attacker." His weapon was met with the unamused glare of Morgana.

"Don't point that thing at me, you idiot!" the feline hissed while his tail lashed out behind him in an irritated manner. "Was your mind that lost that you couldn't even tell an ally from an enemy? Or maybe you've really lost your touch."

"Maybe you shouldn't jab a guy holding a gun..."

"Touche."

Lowering his weapon, Ren looked down at his fellow thief with a questioning glint in his eyes. Why had he come towards the front lines? He was supposed to be in the rear in case of an emergency, yet here he was. It was no surprise he would go against orders though. He always wanted to be in the spotlight after all. However, before the phantom thief could even question him, Morgana gestured towards his wound and waved him to crouch down. Joker did so without complaints and only then did the cat speak.

"Lady Panther saw you nearly take a bullet and asked me to check in on you while she covered for me. Ahhhhh, she's so thoughtful! Amazing as ever she is!" Morgana meowed happily. Ren couldn't help rolling his eyes at the feline's words though. One of these days he really needed to stop talking obsessing over Ann. It was as if he chose to ignore the fact that she was in a relationship with Joker.

"Yeah, I know she's amazing. You don't need to tell me."

"Joker, you're sooooooo lucky! Always having Panther looking af-"

"Please just heal me... We're still in the middle of battle," Joker huffed, clearly having enough of Morgana. His abrasiveness annoyed the feline and in retaliation the monster cat slapped his paw against the other thief's wound, causing him to bite back a sharp cry. "What the-?!"

Jumping back, Morgana gave a snarky laugh before he waved a paw in the air. Despite the brief display of irritation behind the two of them, he knew he still needed to tend to his friend and send him back out into the fight. It was a miracle they had even been left alone this long. He couldn't take his chances much longer those. A few seconds passed before Morgana's persona, Zorro, manifested and with another wave of his paws, a green light soon began to circle around Joker's arm. Its warmth brought immediate relief to the boy and after a moment longer, the wound soon closed its. The only traces of it ever existing were the tear in Joker's coat and the blood that stained it. "Good as new! Now get back out there! We still have a fight to win!"

With those words, Morgana took his leave again and Joker was left on his own. All he could do now was jump back into the fight and help where he could. Looking around, he quietly noted where the other wireframes had gone, and while he wished to aid the others in their fights, the horde of polygon fighters would prevent him. He'd have to trust that they could defend themselves while he returned to eliminating the polygon army.

The sight of the Triforce appearing and trapping both Pit and the fake Palutena was a welcome one for Pneuma. While she didn't vocalize her gratefulness- nor did she have the time to- she still felt it. Such a binding assured that her massive outburst of raw ether energy didn't go to waste. All she could hope was that it was enough.

Pushing all thoughts from her mind, Pneuma's blade soon met her target and caused the mists to dispel from the angel's body. It had worked! A smile crossed the aegis' face at the sight of it all, but even despite her elation, she could feel her own strength giving out on her. Her strength was completely spent. Usually something like this would have never occurred back on Alrest, but it took much of her energy to have all things fall into place, and the Smash Realm always did seem to find ways to keep some powers in check.

Feeling her mind begin to go blank, the blade lost her grip on her weapon and it dropped to the floor with a loud CLANK! In that moment, the last of its ether faded and it laid there as nothing more than a silvery-white sword. Not long after the weapon lost its luster, Pneuma followed. The last of her strength gave out and her knees buckled beneath her, causing her to collapse where she stood. As she did, her vision went dark and she passed out, all while her crystals began to softly glow.

We won, right? Mythra's voice echoed out, hoping that Pyra could still hear her despite what had happened to their body.

I believe so, but I feel weak... I'm tired... very tired....

Mythra couldn't blame her. She too was groggy, and her own strength felt iffy, but it had been much of Pyra's doing that they found themselves in the position they currently were in. Yes, she had helped push them there, but if it hadn't been for the redhead's own bravery to face the problem head on, then she would have never gotten the chance to strengthen that resolve. Besides, from her point of view- and from Rex's previous decisions- Pneuma was more Pyra than it was her. Not that such a thing mattered. What mattered was that they won. They had defeated the fear that had tried to consume them, and even managed to awaken Pneuma when such a feat would have otherwise been impossible. For that she was happy, and even proud.

However, they had a new issue at hand and one of urgency. They needed to get back on their feet. The others would be waiting for them. Even now, in their passed out state, Mythra could hear the voices of their companions. Pit's joyous cheers of freedom were hard to missed even in this state. She couldn't help but find some kind of happiness in that.

Do you think we can even wake in this state...? Pyra's voice pulled Mythra out of her brief moment of peace and reminded her of the need to awaken.

I see no reason why we wouldn't be able to. We'll be in a weak state and likely unable to call upon Pneuma for some time, but one of us has to be transformed into. Only then will we be able to wake again. As much as Mythra would have loved to let themselves sleep for some time, she knew they still had work to do and the last thing she wanted was for one of the others to try lugging her body around while she remained passed out. The thought of it caused her to cringe. You rest for now, Pyra. I'll be fine taking over.

If you're sure, then alright. For a brief moment, Pyra paused and silence hung between the two of them. Thank you, Mythra.

Those words gave off a certain warmth that would have caused Mythra to smile. Despite everything, she was glad Pyra was her other self. She could appreciate that later though. For now, she needed to force herself awake and to do that, she needed Pneuma to transform. That was easy enough. Finding her own resolve, Pneuma's crystals began to glow brighter until she was completely enveloped in light. Her body quickly disappeared and in a blink of an eye Mythra's began to take its place. Following suit, her sword transformed as well, and took the shape of Mythra's blade.

For a moment, the blonde laid there in silence, still struggling to pull herself from her state of unconsciousness, but after a few seconds longer, a soft groan escaped her throat. "Dammit, my head hurts..."

As she grumbled to herself, Mythra slowly opened her eyes and forced herself up onto her knees before resting a hand against the side of her head. A foggy look rested in her eyes as she looked out towards her companions. Was Toon Link dancing around with the crystal in hand? Were those icicles falling from him? So many question arose in her mind, but none of them left her lips. Instead, a soft smile formed upon them and she slowly climbed to her feet.

"We should get out of here now. Our work is done," she told the two. While she would have loved to bask in their accomplishments, she couldn't bring herself to do so. Besides, their mission wasn't over yet. They still had the pirates to deal with.

In a few seconds , links feels a strange aura, a movement pulling him away into the sky, and suddently everything goes black before he's thrown back to the ground.
he prepares to land but realises he doesnt need to as he's been teleported away, when he finally thought he was on vacation from protecting the kingdom he's thrown right back in and finds himself in the temple of time.
light shines through the tainted colorful windows.
a femiliar figure stands before him, raruu, the sage of light.
"i am sorry for the sudden message young hero of hyrule... you dont have to worry about that, we're outside of space and time, whatever time this takes wont be that important"
link gives the sage a nod.
"i fear your fight against evil isnt quite over yet, hyrule is safe still, but your current adventure is not as ordinary as you think, evil forces are in your way, waiting, lurking, be powerful, be brave, and cast the evil back to the void of darkness it came from"
link takes a deep breath after hearing this information, he nods yet again before closing his eyes as he's teleported away.
as he appears back to where he was his instincts kick in and he takes a slash at something or someone trying to decapitate his friend.

Toon Link & Pit
Where: Ghost Ship
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy )

Toon Link and Pit followed Mythra. They were just as eager to leave the Ghost Ship as she was, even though their destination wasn't much better. The little swordsman noticed Pit hanging in the back instead of leading as he normally did, a look on his face like rolling thunder clouds. Seeing the cartoony Hylian's look of concern, Pit quickly brushed an arm across his eyes and averted his gaze.

"No, I'm not alright!" Pit admitted bitterly, "I can't believe I let the Ghost Ship get to me like that! Huh, some 'Captain of the Royal Guard' I turned out to be... I promised myself I'd never be used to hurt innocent people again!"

Toon Link smiled compassionately at his friend. Pit mustn't blame himself; they were all unprepared for what the Ghost Ship had in store for them. How could they have known? They did their best and everything turned out alright in the end. They were still alive and kicking, and together! At that, a small smile briefly appeared on the angel's face before he looked to Mythra's back.

Pit's tone was subdued, very unlike him. "Mythra? We're still good buddies... right?"

Though Mythra had said that to fool Krook earlier, Pit apparently took the comment seriously. Now he seemed to think the Aegis was angry with him. Should Mythra face him, he'd lock eyes with her, his demeanor suggesting he anticipated a scolding.

Without the crystal shard's power, the Ghost Ship was simply an old, creaking ship. It was still creepy, but it was nothing to experienced warriors and adventurers like the three members of the Super Smash Brothers. Toon Link found a surprisingly intact bible box to place the shard in for safekeeping. He had many questions, as he was sure his companions did, but he was too tired to think about what those questions even were, let alone ponder the answers to them. One thing was for certain: despite being a crystal, it was most definitely not the Crystal Coconut that Krook sought!

Pit and Toon Link stopped when they reached the gun deck. They had to think about what they were going to do before they returned to the pirates. The two friends were skeptical that the Kremling Kaptain would keep his word to let them go, especially when he found out that the treasure aboard the Ghost Ship was not the Crystal Coconut. They would be forced to disarm themselves and that would leave them to the mercy of the pirate and his cutthroat krew.

Fortunately, Toon Link had an idea! One thing he learned while sailing with Tetra and her crew was that most pirates had a code they followed, though many twisted the code to give themselves a greater advantage, or for the sake of inflicting greater cruelty on their victims. Krook certainly seemed like that type of pirate, and the companions can take advantage of that! Toon Link looked to Mythra and Pit with a remorseful smile on his face. They were not going to like this plan!

"Nuh-uh! No way! Out of the question! Absolutely not!" Pit objected vehemently once Toon Link explained his plan, shaking his head violently while crossing his arms in an 'x'.

Toon Link sighed and looked to the other fighters with an eyebrow raised. Did they have any better ideas? This may be the best chance they have! Pit and Mythra would return to the Black Scourge and explain that "Hup-Ya" had perished within the Ghost Ship. Toon Link was certain the Kremling would fly into a rage once he learned there was no Crystal Coconut aboard the Ghost Ship, and likely take it out on the two. When that happens, Pit and Mythra were to make a final request to Krook: that they be married! To bring a young couple together in holy matrimony only to murder them after was just the kind of evil Krook would enjoy! While the krew was distracted by the ceremony, Toon Link can use his Hookshot to sneak aboard the ship, raid the weapons cache, and arm the shanghaied sailors for a mutiny!

Toon Link grinned. He was quite proud of this plan! He just had to get Mythra and Pit on board, pun intended!

Mythra turned her head as Pit spoke and quietly listened. She could understand his frustration and she was sure if she hadn't run like she had then the ship would have gotten to her as well. Luckily Pyra had been enough of a barrier, even if she hated to put her other half in such a position.

Hearing the angel eventually turn his attention towards her, the aegis gave a small shrug of her shoulders at his words. "I dunno... you did just try to kill me," she mused. While her words weren't meant to be playful, her tone betrayed such a thing. Joking had never been a forte of hers after all.

Mythra! Show more empathy! Pyra mentally scolded. Despite her own exhaustion, the other aegis had yet to find rest. Perhaps that was for the better in this situation. Mythra did deserve a scolding for her poor attempt at playful banter. Now clearly wasn't the time for it and she was well aware.

After a moment, her expression softened and she attempted to offer Pit a genuine smile, though it was nowhere as reassuring as Pyra's usual smiles. At least she was trying. "I'm joking. I very well know I could have ended up in the same situation as you did so I hold no grudges," she spoke again before turning her attention away and continuing to move forward. "Nobody is severely hurt, so no need to feel guilty for what happened."

Those words felt hypocritical for her to say given how things had gone for her in the past. Mythra herself was trying to come to terms with not feeling guilty over things in the past, yet here she was telling others not to feel the very same way. Maybe that was exactly why she felt a need to say it, though. It wasn't as if she wanted others in the position she found herself in- fearing every move she made would end in disaster and hurt those around her.

Sighing, Mythra pushed the thought aside and continued to trek along until they reached the gun deck. Stopping along with the others, it became clear they needed some kind of plan to deal with Captain Krook. Admittedly, Mythra wasn't sure what to do. It was likely he wouldn't let them go free given they had no Coconut to give him, but even the crystal they did get, she had no desire to hand it over to him. If it was capable of what it had done to this ship, then letting it end up in the wrong hands was out of the question.

While she was lost in her own thoughts, she almost missed Toon Link's plan. However, it didn't settle with her until Pit objected it. "Huh?" she questioned with a tilt of her head. A few seconds passed and everything began to settle in her mind. When it clicked, Mythra wrinkled her nose before a sharp huff of annoyance escaped her lips and she crossed her arms over her chest. "You have to be kidding me?!"

She would have suggested getting Pyra to agree to it instead, but she was aware of the complications that arose from that. Besides, the other wanted to rest, and deservedly so. Dragging her out for something like this was unfair, though Mythra did such a thing often anyways. It was a miracle Pyra held no grudges towards her given how much it happened, but then again, she likely understood why. That was just how she was after all.

As much as she hated the plan though and wanted to rail into the Hylian for suggesting it, she didn't have anything better. All her solutions involved being far more reckless, which would only put the innocents in danger. It disgusted her to even discuss the idea further, but it was better than nothing.

"Even if we did go through with it, what happens if it doesn't play out like you're suggesting it will? What if he doesn't agree?" Mythra questioned. She was sure if that happened that she would simply act on her own wits, given she couldn't easily be disarmed, but even so, it might lead to others being in harms way.

Dark Pit seemed mildly confused at Princess Peach’s admission, though after Zelda’s own words he’d hold a much more thoughtful expression revealing that his white winged original hadn’t made it to the stadium either, another fighter unfortunately yet unsurprisingly scattered by the chaos. Yet, as soon as Princess Peach turned the topic to his condition, Dark Pit snapped back at them, huffing that it wasn’t their business to know, the clone failing to remember that fact that it’s perfectly normal for someone to hold the bare minimum of concern for a fellow friend’s physical condition.

Commenting on his frown, Peach muttered in Zelda’s pointed ear that Dark Pit would be destined to have wrinkles in his future if he kept at it. To which Zelda hoped to lighten her mood, as she whispered back,

“For someone with black wings, I do suppose it’d only be fitting to have crow’s feet wrinkles”

Was the pun a stretch? Very much so. Was the pun terrible? Goddesses yes, but that made it all the more sweet to her ears.

All the while the Nurse Joy seemed to visibly deflate as they discussed the stadium, mentioning how she had hoped for any news concerning her sister.

“Though it might be some time before we reach the Stadium, we can see about contacting your sibling once we make it there”

There definitely weren’t any promises but hopefully Zelda and the rest of the team would be able to see what they could do about it. After all, if they had already been on the lookout for connecting Cream with a proper guardian, then she supposed it wasn’t impossible to expand their search.

Speaking of, with the young Cream and the Ginormous Cat appearing to know each other quite well, it might be possible that their prior mission may actually have been completed. While the purple feline certainly wasn’t the blue blue by any means, he was assumedly an adult that Cream trusts who could theoretically provide protection. Just in case Zelda made a mental note to discuss with the others before coming to any final decisions.

As Zelda pushed aside the thought for now, the portly kitty introduced himself as Big the Cat, explaining he’d encountered the injured Dark Pit and had been the one to bring him to the Lakeside Laboratory, which would eventually lead to all the hijinks that had occurred, much to The Lake Scientist’s irritation.

But even that melted away as he informed the princess to just call him Doctor or Doc, and reaffirmed to the group that they were wanted criminals, and then confirming that The Stadium was surely to be filled with Lunaris’ grunts. As the Doc opened it up to Zelda to ask away, she nodded and began to speak.

“I was wondering if anyone in Lunaris’ army had been by the lake’s premises searching for something? We think there might be an item here that could aid us, so any information would be invaluable”

Yet as soon as those words left her mouth, a certain someone took the opportunity to slip away while they were none the wiser. In fact he might have nearly gotten away with it if it weren’t for a certain bounty hunter. Finally caught up with the group, Samus was the single blockade keeping Dark Pit from hobbling away. His concerning condition aside, Zelda was thankful her friend had stopped him in time.

“Ah, Samus! Apologies for rushing off without you”

While Dark Pit, flighty as ever, was a whole different issue entirely. While Samus put it bluntly that they couldn’t let him leave, Zelda tried to appeal to Dark Pit’s reasoning, carefully omitting any direct mention of the fact they couldn’t exactly let him leave.

“Please at the very least allow us share what we know with you about the situation. If you’re going to run off, wouldn't it be better to at least be informed on what might await you beforehand rather than rushing in blindly?”

Noctis was slashing swords with the Cloud wireframe. These dopplegangers reminded him alot of the Manekins from Materia and Spiritus's world. He supposed that these were similar, The Cloud Wireframe was stronger then he thought.

Noctis did howrever managed to push the wireframe away. Wireframe Cloud then received a gun shot, from Prompto.

" Got your back buddy!" Prompto shouts. Noctis nodded before to deliver the final blow on the Cloud Wireframe.

Prompto on the other hand wasn't lucky as a Fox and Bayonetta Wireframes connered him.

"Froggy likes him," Big responded to Cream, a smile on his dim features. "So he must be nice!"

Samus saw Dark Pit's head hang and his eyelids droop. Wrapping her arm around his shoulders to support him, she led him back to the lab.

"Pit's in trouble," Dark Pit muttered.

Samus's tone was stern, but not unkindly, "I know how you must be feeling now, but you cannot help him in your condition. We can help you, but you must let us do so." Samus did feel sympathy toward the angel. She understood, very well, the frustration of knowing someone she cherished was in trouble, and being powerless to act. Like Zelda, it was her hope that with empathy and reasoning Dark Pit would be convinced to stay with them. Though she did not have complete trust in him, she would rather not have to treat him as a prisoner if she can avoid it.

The Lake Scientist saw the two heading for the laboratory and shook his head. "No, I'm sorry, ma'am, but I do not want that menace back inside my lab!" He put his hands behind his back. "Even if I allowed it, there is too much of a mess inside to admit patients."

Samus supposed she couldn't blame him. She gently eased the dark reflection onto the grass, back against the laboratory walls. Dark Pit half-opened his eyes and grumbled a, "Fine." Whether that was aimed toward Samus, or Zelda's plea for him to listen, or both, was unknown. "... But no needles!"

Nurse Joy knelt beside Dark Pit and dug through her first-aid kit. Finding an opportunity to get a little bit of payback for her troubles, she hummed thoughtfully then said, "Oh, but the doctor really wanted me to get some blood samples!"

Dark Pit did something neither woman expected: he leaned into Samus and grabbed onto her like a child seeking a parent's protection, red eyes narrowed at the nurse as his feathers fluffed up in agitation. It seemed even the fierce angel of darkness held a fear of needles; Samus couldn't help but be a bit amused by that. She was also grateful for it. Such a small act humanized Dark Pit and reminded her that, despite everything, he was just a boy.

Pikachu, wanting to be of help, hopped onto Dark Pit's lap. She held no fear or ill will toward him. Dark Pit may be prickly, but outside of the tournaments he had always been kind to all of the Pokemon, and Pikachu didn't mind playing the role of "stuffed animal." Thankfully, Nurse Joy seemed to have no intention of using needles and focused on re-dressing Dark Pit's head.

"If I were to guess, I'd say it was goons waiting for you to show up at the Stadium," The Lake Scientist responded to Peach. "If I wanted to find the Super Smash Brothers, that would be the first place I looked." At Zelda's question, he stroked his chin. "Hmm... I seem to recall some shady fellows prowling around the Lake a while back. They didn't contact us directly, which was odd, but we found it a relief. That is until..."

Nurse Joy looked up from her work to address Zelda and Peach. "After their visit, Rayquaza, who lives in the lake, became very ill. We've been trying to find out what happened and how we can help, but Rayquaza refuses to come out. It only surfaces to breathe."

Pikachu's ears raised in alarm. What could cause such a mighty Pokemon to become so ill? And was there anything the Super Smash Sisters could do to help it?

Toon Link & Pit
Where: The Ghost Ship
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy )

Pit flinched at Mythra's reminder. "Right..."

After Hades's defeat, Pit had visited the Overworld to help the humans rebuild as atonement for the trouble his soulless body had caused. Direct involvement with humans was heavily discouraged, but it meant so much to Pit that Palutena could not bring herself to deny him that. He quickly learned that not all humans appreciated the gesture. It devastated the angel that many of the humans who once cheered for him and praised Palutena now feared him and cursed Her name. He had seen temples and altars to his goddess vandalized and destroyed, and Pit himself had been attacked by survivors seeking vengeance. Pit loved humans and swore to protect them, and so could not bring himself to fight back, even in self-defense. He'd return to Palutena, bruised and heartbroken.

Mythra's smile, as small as it may be, put the angel at ease, and Pit smiled back. Her forgiveness meant more to him than the Aegis may ever know. "Thank you, Mythra." He was grateful for both her words and her help in freeing him from the crystal's corrupting energies.

Toon Link shrugged at Mythra after she questioned his plan. He had no guarantee that things would go as expected, and that was the honest truth. He had only his own experiences to fall back on. As "members" of Krook's krew, neither of them could invoke their Right to Parley, so in the worst case scenario of Krook trying to kill them immediately, they had to try and appeal to him another way. Toon Link recalled Krook's taunting of Pit and Mythra when they were first dragged aboard his ship, and holding him to said taunting may be their ticket to freedom! What really mattered was that one of the trio was free to act on their own; what they needed was time!

The three companions were taking a huge gamble. All it took was for one of the innocent islanders to be threatened, and they'd be done for. Krook was very well aware of their heroic natures and would not hesitate to take full advantage of it. On the other hand, should Krook decide to not do anything to them, Toon Link, Pit, and Mythra would be stuck as sailors aboard his evil ship for... who knows how long! That was certainly the safer route, but Toon Link had no desire to live in a Zola costume! He heard Pit mutter something about wanting to flex his wings.

There was also the question of what to do with the crystal shard. Neither of them knew what it was, and Toon Link and Pit were sure Krook wouldn't know what it was either. The shard had done nothing since Toon Link had obtained it; for all they know it could just be a normal rock now! That didn't mean they were eager to hand it over to the wicked Kremling, however, and as much as Pit wanted to just chuck it into the sea and be done with it, they knew from their experiences that it should be held onto. What choice did they have?

"Maybe I'll get close enough to shove it down his throat," Pit grumbled, bringing up the threat he made earlier. Toon Link had to admit he would love to see that!

Once the three warriors had completed their planning and all their concerns were addressed, Pit emerged onto the main deck while Toon Link remained behind. The spirits of the Ghost Ship were quiet and at peace. It seemed their earlier panic was also the work of the crystal shard. Pit noticed a number of new, yet familiar faces among the ghosts, then the sailors aboard the Black Scourge rolling bundles wrapped in cloth and weights overboard, and his face saddened when he made the connection. The shockwave had affected the Black Scourge as well, and not all of the sailors aboard the ship had been strong enough to endure it.

The Reaper locked eyes with the angel captain. The two stared at each other in silent, begrudging respect. Pit knew the Reaper had a job that needed to be done, and the Reaper knew he wasn't going to interfere. It was time for the Ghost Ship to resume its journey to the Underworld.

"Ahoy, Kap'n'!" a Kremling shouted from the red ship. "They've returned! Well blow me down!"

Sephiroth laughed out loud at the audacity of the Jenoid giving him orders; it should be the other way around. He’s the one that should be handing out orders as a former SOLDIER general. But he had things that needed to be done, none of it was acquiescing to their demands. “ I have plans that involve my mother, no way I’ll be handing her over to the likes of you.” He blinks after hearing such a ridiculous statement coming from the latter’s mouth. It sounds stupid beyond reason it left him a bit of a stupor then he broke down laughing he composed himself. “ Fool.. you should’ve used those eight seconds to run with your tail tucked between your legs, or get on your knees and beg for forgiveness. Not that it would do you any good or that your worthless life matters to me.” He did a quick sweep of the Jenoids with a single strike of his masamune. It was pitiful to see their mangled corpses in that state.

“ The Doom Slayer was more entertaining. What a pity.” He scoffed. Now that he has his mother and his business here is done. There’s one thing left to do, which is wipe out the evidence of his massacre. He teleported out and into the sky extending his black gloved hand in the air preparing to summon the ultimate magic—meteor. He sensed Isabelle there, a necessary sacrifice in the scheme of things. He picked up an unfamiliar aura, perhaps fresh meat but it felt too young. He sensed a swirl of energies, a sign of meteor.

Cyan thought of his friends when Peregrine brought up his men were either scattered in the smash realm or presumed dead most likely. It's unfortunate his friends couldn’t make it to the smash realm. He can't count how many times Sabin’s blitz or his twin’s brother's tools helped. Hell everyone proved themselves. There’s magic although he didn’t trust magic it’s useful and deadly given who used it. “ I have to admit my knowledge of the smash fighters is very little. I’m from a far off universe that has no connection to the smash realm.” He sighs. He’s fifty years old but he’s a warrior.

He’ll be with the Zenith knights until all the loose ends are tied. “ I’ll be by your side regardless, Peregrine. I mean if you still want my services.” He sighs, letting a soft smile form on his lips, exhausted and he’s seen things in his years as Doma’s former retainer. But he’s ready to look for the smash brothers.
