John is glad Kama was ok with it. “I don’t really know to be honest I just wanted to get away.” He says picking a book at random off the bookshelf, to his surprise it’s titled DARKNESS USER 101 he puts it away chuckling “what are the odds” he says to himself.

He searches and finds a book titled VIGILANTE OR VILLAIN? he likes the sound of that and sits down next to Kama and begins to read. Not trying to hide it at all. “Hey so we meet the first day when I cut my hand how have you been buddy?” He extended his healed up hand with no more red line on it for a handshake while still looking and reading his book.

The book is all about antiheroes taking justice into their own hands and multiple people giving their opinions on the subject. The majority called them villains and some were ok with it. John with his hand holding the book squeezes it, His knuckles look white.

“Those hypocrites, none of them had a villain take everything away from them. Why not let the ones who lost EVERYTHING speak, the hero who let it happen wasn’t even sorry for anything but looking bad.” His face looks normal while reading this.

"I've been good. How have you been?" Kama gently took the other boy's hand and shook it. He does briefly remember when they first met which was when he cut his hand. But he doesn't remember his name. After the other student had started reading, Kama noticed the boy was mumbling something as he read. He also noticed his knuckles were pale which meant he was squeezing his book. "What's the matter?" Kama calm asked as he stared at the boy, confused on what was happening.

Now Kama was sitting criss-cross applesauce on the red beanbag and was facing the male student next to him.

Evelyn Eden

Adam sunk her house?! Evelyn was truly shocked. She didn’t have a crush on the guy, but it wasn’t because she thought he was a bad person. Yet, when she thought about what it took to make the decision to destroy a home, how could she not think he was bad? She wondered, How could he be capable of something like this? He always keeps to himself, I’ve never seen him being mean to anyone—he even paid my bus fare this morning! Evelyn didn’t want to believe it.

Then she recalled the torment everyone had witnessed Adam being subjected to the previous day, and the picture began to come together in Evelyn’s mind. If Adam truly had done something like this, it had to be his retaliation. His retribution. But this level of retaliation bordered on a level of revenge that Evelyn could never agree with. Evelyn had dealings with a few bullies in her life, but never had she ever thought to try to destroy their homes to make them pay, even if she could. It certainly wouldn’t make her feel better to know the families of those bullies were hurt in the crossfire; hurt, or worse. It was hard to know if having the power to shake the ground corrupted, or if it was something deeper.

Evelyn peered at Angel’s extended hand and hesitated. After a brief pause, Evelyn shook her hand and offered Angel a smile without judgement. “I’m Evelyn, but you can call me Eve.”

Evelyn could tell Angel was visibly disturbed at John’s gleeful vindictiveness. She could relate to feeling remorse, and seeing humanizing qualities in Angel reassured Evelyn that the shadow wielder wasn’t beyond redemption by any means. Evelyn picked up John’s phone off the ground, where it landed after bouncing off her thigh. She hadn’t meant to not catch it, but she didn’t expect the cellular projectile.

“I’m not very good at catch,” Evelyn explained, visibly embarrassed. She browsed the article and thanked heaven that Flower Girl had been there to neutralize the sinkhole. The house was beautiful, and very big. It made Evelyn weary to think Adam could perform a feat like that, but she instantly felt guilty about the thought imagining how scary it would be to feel your home being swallowed by the earth itself. When she was done, she silently stood and handed John his phone back. After a thoughtful pause, Portia motioned for Angel to have a seat with them, and Evelyn comes back to the their table, electing to stand rather than sit. Her mind was anxious and her stomach fluttered. It was then that Bernice snapped.

“Look, I agree with Portia and Bernice. I wanna point out that Adam isn’t justified in what he did—endangering others is the furthest thing from justice, I think. What he did to you, Angel? That was wrong on so many levels. And what you did to him was definitely not cool either. But I don’t wanna see anyone getting hurt over this. It looks like things are spiraling out of control, and...” Eve looked at her feet as she finished, “If this is true, we don’t know what Adam’s capable of. Maybe you should get the authorities involved.”

It was then that Lisa appeared, cheerily changing the subject and oblivious to the conversation of death plots and the ensuing emotional atmosphere. As she sat at the fourth chair, hers, (which Eve didn’t mind) she talked about costumes and designs. Angel produced a sketchbook full of talented drawings. Evelyn studied Lisa and determined she was probably too young to partake in such morbid speak. She was thankful Lisa was here to cut the tension to say the least. “Hi sweetie, it’s nice to meet ya! My name’s Eve.”

Eve paused when John continued his passionate dissertation. She didn’t have to read his mind to know he was upset. His claims that Adam had started this debacle with a threat turned into a startling revelation about his past, which drew sympathy from Evelyn. But when he ended his speech by using his past as a justification to hurt people and pardon his violent vengeance, Evelyn sighed, disappointed, and looked away. She didn’t stop John from walking off, but now there was something Evelyn had to know...

Evelyn left Study Hall with purpose in her stride.

Adam Antium

Adam couldn’t help but wonder if Zaxen really couldn’t help but melting the fudge pop before it got to his mouth; why else would be eat it one one big bite? “Eh,” Adam shrugged, determining Zaxen probably had plenty of control over his ability and that it was more likely a gluttonous habit.

As Zaxen explained that missing class would lead to missed opportunities, he nodded. “Point taken.” However, the genuine curiosity in his voice as he expressed wonder in regards to how flammable the study hall might be... Adam considered if going to a potentially flammable classroom with a fire spewing pyromaniac was a safe idea, let alone a good one.

“Hey,” someone grabbed his shirt.

It was enough to make Adam stop in his tracks and look at the tiny redhead. When she backed away, Adam realized she might be afraid of him; Lisa’s backpedaling brought her closer to Zaxen rather defensively. It certainly looked like she was afraid; her nervousness practically exuded from her pores. She wanted to skip class—with them. Why did that sound like a horrible idea to him?

Zaxen shut her down in what was probably the kindest rejection Adam had ever witnessed. “Your friend is right. Go to class, little girl. Focus on your education and master your ability. These lessons you’re so eager to skip out on? They’ll make you into a great hero, someday.”

Maria Mallette

1549677509895.png

Once again lost in her thoughts, Maria took a seat where John sat down just moments ago. Not taking her eyes away from the splits in the wood that formed the table. Tracing her finger along the small cracks, she winced in pain. Quickly retreating her hand from the table, Maria noticed that a small piece of wood had made its way past the first few layers of her skin. Carefully she took out the splinter, afterwards, a small trickle of blood made its way down her arm, and onto the table. Not caring that she just cut herself on the very table that one could find her at, she watched as the blood flew from her finger, down her arm and onto the cracked wood. She found it oddly relaxing. After a few minutes, she noticed that Angel had made her way towards the other girls while John was reading a book next to Kama.

While Maria was all for girls bonding, she didn't really feel like talking to the others. Making her way through the vast library, she discovered a whole section based on heroes with powers associated with sound. Pilling a few books onto her arms, she made her way towards the two young guys. As she approached, she suddenly dropped the countless books that she had pilled onto her frail arms. Looking down at her finger, she sighed, the cut had begun to bleed, a lot. Not knowing what to do Maria stood in one place, it almost seemed as though she was frozen in time.

Florian was late to school once again. He had woken up on time, but his body felt sluggish. There felt like a delay between his mind and his body. If he had to describe it, it felt like the impulses in his brain had to travel through a thick wall of gelatin before being received by his limbs. Over and over again, he forced himself to walk towards the school. Why was he like this? Well, the young man had spent a good portion of the night after his dinner to make his costume and think of a hero name. The mask he received was obviously going to be apart of it, but Florian had more ideas for his costume. He wanted a cloak that adapted to the color of the skies, so he could blend in and fool the opponent's eyes. Not quite sure how to go about that, Florian had made multiple shrouds. One was a sky blue with white accents for an open sky. One was a stormy grey for when the sky was moody. One was a hue between royal purple and midnight black for when it was past dusk, and the last one was a lime white for a snowy morning. Then, he had to make various pockets and hooks in the cloaks for his weapons. Since his power wasn't inherently offensive, he needed various gadgets to make up for it. His slim fingers had small bandages on them from the pricking needles that would from time to time stab him.

By delving into his thoughts, Florian was able to make the trip to school bearable. But as he passed through the gates, he felt a hairline wire wrap around his legs. It was safe to say the unexpected bola made him fall. The wind was knocked out of him as his hands scraped on the ground to catch him. There was an immediate sting, and he grimaced. Florian wasn't the biggest fan of pain, and he tried to avoid it as much as possible. "You're late again," an unfamiliar voice sung, "not only that, but you're the tardiest of the other late students." Florian glanced up at the voice to see a blonde student with a cocky grin on her face. The young man stayed silent, hoping that his compliance would allow for him to go on his merry way faster. "I'm Kazama," she said, introducing herself, "what's your name?" The redhead kept his mouth shut. "Not much of a talker, huh? Well, let's get you to the attendance office then, and we can get you to class." With a surprising ease, Florian was lifted to his feet by the slightly shorter girl.

She escorted him to the office where he was swiftly given a slip. "Thank you," Florian grumbled, taking the slip from the lady. He was about to leave for class when Kazama grabbed him by the back of his collar, choking him. "Not so fast, I need to clean those scrapes on your hand before you go," she commanded. His eyes squinted into a glare as he coughed, but he hesitantly nodded. It didn't take long. Kazama seemed used to treating wounds; and as she put the bandages on, she informed him that his class was in study hall. The young man kept his vow of silence around Kazama and abruptly tore his hands away from hers. Without a word, Florian made his way towards his classmates. Walking through the doors, he tried not to make a sound as he sat down. He hoped he hadn't missed too much.

“...nothing, nothing thank you for asking. It’s just this book is a little bias that’s all.” He says with a forced smile on his face, then Maria dropped her books.

When John saw her he saw blood coming from her finger and dashed to her. “Hey are you alright?” John says crouching down and holding her hand to examine the wound. “I’m sorry about earlier by the way, I was carried away in my emotions it won’t happen again.” He looks her in the eyes for a quick second to say that last part. Then looks back at the wound, he tears a sliver of his uniform shirt and wraps it around her finger.

“Yes I know that was a little over the top but your worth it, better safe than sorry.” The mind reader says in a non flirtatious or seductive voice, his intentions are pure he still likes Angel.

John picks up Maria’s books creating a pillar of knowledge on his stronger arms. “Hey nice collection, where were you heading? I’ll carry them for you.” He says in a friendly manor. None of what he’s doing is to make Angel Jealous is Maria attracted to him. This is how he treats his close friends.

Angel Black - Study hall

"Yes I know that what I did yesterday wasn't cool, but sinking my house with my brother and friends in it was too far" Angel says with a sigh "Besides mom saw the whole thing from where she was standing, so it's not like I'm making it up or something. I can be glad she she didn't faint on the spot, although we are a bottle of wine shorter..." she trails off and she hides a yawn, she wasn't at drinking age yet, but her brother didn't care about that and often handed her a glass too. It had been a troublesome evening yesterday, but all ended well "But no one got hurt so I don't really see a reason to actually beat the crap out of him".

She looks down at her design for the back and she erases it, starting all over again, why wouldn't anyone want to design their own costume, for the front she has a simple skull with angel wings, but she's a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to things like this, so she might add it for the back later, focusing on the skull with wings she keeps erasing the wings attached to the skull "Stupid lack of sleep" she mumbles as she decides to make a demon wing instead of a second angel wing "Perfect" she says inspecting it.

Portia Lovelace
The little trio became a full-fledged group for a moment as everyone berated John for his outlandish ideas. Portia felt bad understanding what it feels like to have everyone turn against you for defending something. That's exactly why she reacted the way she did. She didn't want him to go down the same road. It was the right thing to do to deter him from making a mistake but then again, he could always not listen. What a waste of time.. I'll have to do some reading when I go home though. She sat in thought as the other girls chatted about their costumes and ideas. Since she wasn't allowed and already knew exactly what she wanted there was no need for her to take part. What did surprise her was when Evelyn took off without saying anything. She watched her leaving not bothering to follow after her because of how she walked so purposefully. She obviously had some business to attend to and considering what just happened she assumed the girl either had to cry, use the restroom, talk to Adam herself, or just be alone.

Eve probably just wants some time to herself... We have been together all day today. Portia thought respecting her friend's wishes for space. She looked around at the table darting from Angel to Lisa. She didn't particularly like either of them from the first day but she did believe in second chances. Angel didn't seem like a bad person, actually, they seemed more alike than she'd probably admit. Lisa, on the other hand, was a small child with a winy voice. Plus she got her and Zaxen in trouble. When she spoke she just felt annoyed but less like someone she hated and more like she was a bothersome little sister. There was a lot on her mind that she wanted to be resolved but had no way of acquiring the answers in the least bothersome way. She let out a sigh in irritation before she stood up. "I'll catch you guys in class. I need... some air?" Portia looked clearly bothered by something but she herself didn't know what. She never did good in group settings, preferring to keep her distance from them altogether, and wasn't any better at expressing her emotions well. Currents of light blue electricity surged in sporadic movements around her as she exited the library. Her hands shook with an anger she could not express from an unknown source that she couldn't explain. She just needed some air, somewhere to calm herself down. Maybe they'll let me outside... Maybe I can... Mmmmmm.... She clenched her fists agitated that she couldn't think of a place to go with no people in it opting to head for the bathroom as it was the least likely to explode with her around it, there was no technology to break, no things that could catch fire. She strode down the hallway with long strides as the currents flowed around her in more erratic formations. The moment she stepped into the bathroom she closed the door, sliding down the wall beside it as her electricity began to dance around her. "It's okay... It's okay... We have control here, it's fine. Just take a break..." The girl tried to calm herself down by reassuring herself that she was in control of her own powers when she wasn't whenever her emotions liked to flip like this. She held her head doing what she usually did when her powers started to act up, softly mumble songs she likes while trying to block out everything. Portia just wanted to be unbothered when her emotions were running this high. She feared hurting someone she cares about again.

Bernice Allister
(Location: Study Hall/ Tagged: The Hero The Hero )

It seemed Lisa was mostly focused on Portia and Angel with her costume design. Bernice didn't wish to interrupt Angel seeing as how it's supposed to be the main focus. In all honesty, her own costume was probably bland having no idea what a hero should wear, but she did very much favor masks and hoods being sure to combine the two in one.

The bruenette failed to notice Evelyn's abrupt departure as well as Portia's whom seemed troubled. As much as the girl wished to help or follow her friends, she knew better than to give space. It was her opinion. She was the type of girl who would prefer the silence to relax. Sad to say, school wasn't exaxtly a place to be comfortable to her. She felt alone especially know there are other students. She takes a look around admiring the architecture of the room. The decor, books and desks even bean bag chairs which give the room an atmosphere. It felt a little too quiet. Maybe a poetry book will help ease her mind until lunch time.

She excused herself from the table in search for a book. Fingers brush at every hard cover for a title that may pique her interest. Poetry books were quite a relaxing, but sometimes a regular book also helped her take her mind off. As she reaches the end of the shelf, she freezes. Heart races, as her face becomes flustered and once again felt those butterflies when she saw him. Florian. Tired redhead from class she's been too shy to talk to. Out of everyone he has been the only boy whom has made her weak compared ro the others. She couldn't speak nor have the courage to move. It's ridiculous. It was like having a crush on the guy even though she's never spoken to him. Is that what it is? A crush?

Bernice steals another look at the teen. He seemed so exhausted and out of place. Just like her on the first day. She hasn't even seen him converse with anyone like Adam. Her heart strings tugged feeling bad. An idea blossoms to be the first to speak to him. But how? She needed an excuse and honestly she's a terrible cluts whom rambles about the most idiotic things. Then it hit her. Her homade fudge pop. Easily she pulls one out and smiles softly. There could indeed be magic in sweets if it meant bringing people close. The only thing left is to have the courage to approach the lad.

"Come on Bernice! You can do this. It's just a friendly hello." She told herself. "But....he's too dashing!" She thought again. "So what? He probably needs energy and sweets are the way to go. Come on! You had no trouble with your friends why is he any different? Just take a deep breath like you always do and say 'hi'". On cue she did as she told herself then marched right over to Florian. It would be a lie if her legs didn't shiver from being nervous. Once she stood in front of him, she paused before finally speaking,

"H-hello. My name is Bernice Allister. Y-you seem a bit exhausted and thought you might need some energy." She hands over the popsicle nervously hoping he'd acxept or at least enjoy it. "I-it's a fudge pop I made for everyone." She stuttered now peering down fidgeting with her jacket with a small blush to her cheeks.

Lisa little heart pounded in her chest at Zaxen a touch. Her puppy crush affecting the other Lisa who face became so flushed she got up from her seat with the others and ran after Portia into the girls bathroom. Back in the hall Lisa could barely comprehend a word Zaxen was saying, she was it busy trying to focus on breathing, she almost fainted when he ruffled her hair. Wait...what!? Her thought brought her back down to earth once she realized she was rejected. She wasn’t soft, was she? She looked down at her self imaging what it would be like to be made out of marshmallow. I bet I’d taste good as a smore. Her young mind was already off track and she forgot what her goal was in the first place. Adam’s voice caught her attention. She turned back around unhappy by what he said. “I’ve already matherd my ability.” She turned her crossed her arms, her tone matter-of -factly.
“I’m a thpecial cathe at thith thchool.” Lisas was never one to brag but she felt a need to impress the Adam. It was true though, She bad completely mastered her powers at the age of 11 and as her brain developed it only got better. She had her quirks here and there, but that was mainly do to the fact that she herself was indecisive and unable to focus. The only think that can help that is time.

“And I am focuthing on my work, I’m doing them right now at home,besides....” she looked down kicking her foot and pouting when Adam mention her becoming a hero. “I already know what I’m going to be when I grow up, mom said people from all over came to bid on me. I’m worth 3 billion dollarth. Thome one already bought me.” Lisa was going to be a spy, from the moment her power showed up her parents saw profit and opportunity. They were never hero’s themselves, and wanted to seal there young daughters fate. She had to be homeschooled due to all the testing that was to be done her brain. Once eveyone realized her potential, she was put on the market. Imagine having hundreds of spy’s locates all around the world for the price of one. In ten years Lisa would be able to have at the least 57 fully functional version of her self with a completely developed brain. They would all be able to change there looks, learn whatever language was needed. A government could have countless of infiltrators all with the same agenda in one place. They would never have to risk secret meetings to tell each other what was discovered, or get caught trying to send that knowledge across the globe. You also don’t have to worry about the death of clones, they could even kill themselves in order to keep there cover. Lisa was Attending this school because her parents felt guilty for taking away there daughters since of choice. Even her older brother Jason got the same treatment. To make up for there lack of parenting her parents gave her anything her she asked for. Hoping that if they spoil her enough she won’t notice when she gets older.

Lisa washed splashed water in her face her cheeks going from bright read to a soft pink. She stared at herself in the mirror gripping the sides of the sink. She looked as if she was going to punch the glass but remembered that she was not alone. She looked over at Portia and ran into a stall.

Angel sighs as she puts her stuff in her bag and she stands up, she was not staying behind with Lisa alone, so she looks through the books picking the ones that might help her develop her powers more, deciding to sit alone she makes a comfy chair to sit in against a wall so she starts reading, she sees Lisa run off and she rolls her eyes "And in the end I somehow end up being alone again" she thinks with a sigh, she wondered why, John wasn't an option since she was a little scared of what he was going to do, still, she couldn't let him kill someone "This is annoying, he's my friend and while I understand his anger killing won't solve anything" she thinks pulling her knees to her chest, not that anyone would find her.

Then she realizes something, she can do something even if it meant going near Adam, heroes have to protect people right? She gets up and after quickly putting the books away she runs off to find Adam, to warn him about what John will do to him no matter what anyone says, hell she didn't think that she could stop him right now. If her warning wasn't taken seriously then she was going to have a serious problem on her hands, on one side her best friend who wants to kill, on the other side a classmate who probably won't care about it, still she could try.

After hearing that the other boy was ok, he didn't worry about it that much. "Oka-" Kama was about to lay back down until he saw a pile of books crash into the floor in front of him along with a girl. Looking up at the girl he noticed a thick, dark red liquid slowly oozed out of her finger... A lot of it... The boy stood up and strolled over to the girl. "That's a lot of blood!" His jaw slightly dropped at the sight. Kama observed as the other boy helped her out. "Yeah you might wanna go to the nurse." He suggested.

Suddenly he heard the lunch bell and that was his signal to leave. "Lunch! Get that finger checked!" Kama shouted back at the two as he sprinted towards the cafeteria. His feet slapped the floor sending him jetting past the various figures that blurred in his speed. When he reached the cafeteria it was almost empty but the students began to enter, their chatter and excited laughter filling the building as they sat at their tables for lunch. He quickly got into the lunch line and got his food. Instead of sitting in the cafeteria he decided to go sit on the roof and eat his lunch. It was a better view anyway. When he got on the roof he sat criss-cross applesauce near the edge and began eating like a beast.

Thanks for not being mean to me about it Maria.” The bell rings.

“Cool lunch, I don’t think we should eat together. Someone will tell Adam no doubt and I don’t want you on his personal list. Also if things escalate please don’t defend me he’s crazy and I don’t want you getting hurt.” He says with sincerity.

When he arrives at the lunchroom he searches for Adam to tell him himself like a man.

Lydia Camden
Home—Hallway—Lunchroom

Lydia was late. Not because she had overslept (even though she had), or taken too long to decide what to wear (that matter was null anyway, because they had uniforms), no. It had simply taken an hour and a half for her to defrost her bedroom door enough to get it open. She had learned by now to keep a hairdryer with a hot setting in her room at all times, and it certainly made a difference. But even then it still took quite a while to work.
So after her doubly sluggish start, Lydia didn’t get to the school until well into the day. She was just about to push open the door of her study hall class when the lunch bell rang. With a resigned sigh she turned back around and made her way to the cafeteria.
She didn’t opt to eat anything—given her condition, it wasn’t necessary—and instead where she sat she created small icicle sculptures on the table and blew miniature snowdrifts into the air. Ice formed and fell away at her fingertips, and it kept her sufficiently occupied and distracted from anyone around her who was watching. And there were probably quite a few people watching, there usually were.

Florian was obviously not the most talkative person in his class. He was more of a passive observer than an active participator. Perhaps, if needed or desired, he would take silent action for the benefit of the general welfare of the class like in the little lunch fiasco. A silent hero who takes no recognition for his deeds. It was a little romantic idea that Florian mused in his mind. Then, in some twist of fate, all of the hero's good deeds are revealed, so he gets the recognition of his deeds and his selflessness. The idea was selfish in itself, but the effects of going down that route would redeem him of just one vice. Yes, Florian was complacent to be the steadfast wind in the chaotic seas of his class. While the others scampered around the boat, the young man would silently push them forward out of the storm. "And if I happen to raise my grade in the meanwhile, so be it," Florian thought, smirking to himself. It was all going to plan until she approached him.

Briefly rubbing his eyes, he graciously accepted the sweet offer. "Thank you," Florian said, "Bernice, right?" They rarely if ever spoke to one another, so he was rather curious as to why she gave him the dessert. Sure, she made them for everyone, but why did she have to add the comment about his fatigued nature? He wasn't aware that he made it so obvious that he was tired. There was the possibility that he wasn't the only observer in the classroom. "Hmph, cute," Florian muttered under his breath. Well, he couldn't simply allow a good natured action to go unrewarded. There had to be a way for him to return the favor. That was when the bell sounded, and it was time for lunch. "Ah, there's the lunch bell. How about in return for this," Florian waved the pop around, "I buy you lunch or something?" He took a bite out of it, noting the strong sweetness. The redhead wasn't the biggest fan of sweets, but it was quite good.

"H-huh?" She croaked confused by his offer. Did he just offer to repay back her kindness? Isn't that a little redundant even though her approach was just an excuse to talk to him. Still there was no need for him to thank her right? On the other hand she has another chance to talk to him a little longer. She stupidly smiled not realizing she was staring at Florian for the longest while lost in thought. She jumps back flustered with embarrassment avoiding eye contact. 'He's waiting for an answer woman! Speak!' She thought to herself. Slowly, but surely the brunette found the courage to answer the teen. "Y-yes! I'd like that, although to be honest you don't need to reward me for offering you a treat. It was my pleasure. I also heard from my friend that you, yourself volunteered in the cafeteria and gave a generous amount of food to students. I'm not sure why, but I think that alone should be rewarded or at least known. That's pretty sweet, almost as if you're a nurturing person. I'd probably do the same thing seeing as it's all I know how to do also from back home." Bernice noticed she never truly answered his question as she rambled on. What ditz. He's probably finding her boring.

"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't actually answer your question. As much as I'd like to how about we just have lunch together? Your company is enough if...you want to get to know each other?" Aaaaand she felt like she had just asked a boy out on a date. This is a first and possibly going to kill her. Maybe if they sat in silence would that be okay? She quite enjoyed it even if there is a presence beside her. It's enough.

Adam Antium

When Lisa mentioned having mastered her ability, Adam had smiled, raising an eyebrow. He remembered being younger than her and thinking the same thing at her age. But Adam learned new ways to harness his control with each passing year. He understood that no matter how much he learned... there was always tomorrow.

“There is always the next lesson. If you aren’t learning something new, you’re doing something wrong.” He spoke with a sort of nonchalant confidence. When Lisa revealed people had bid on her—that in fact, she’d already been sold, Adam frowned. What she was talking about was slavery. Perhaps there was something he was missing, & the last thing he wanted to do was pry. Yet even still... Adam looked Lisa in the eye, expression serious.

“Well, it doesn’t sound like you mind being a servant. Understand this: you always have a choice—no one can take that away from you.” Adam heard the bell ring for lunch and glanced out the window longingly. Almost as an afterthought, he added, “Sometimes, though, people will try to take it. Those are the weak ones. If you ever want to do your own thing, to hell with your parents. If they have a problem with you going against their plans for you...” Adam faced Lisa once again. “I certainly wouldn’t mind having a stern conversation with them.”

He let the offer linger in the air as he walked away from Lisa and Zaxen. If he were being honest with himself, he had to wonder if the tiny redheaded girl understood the full context of his offer, but he didn’t dwell on it. Either she did or didn’t, but she had to know selling children was wrong, powers or not—even if she didn’t want to face the truth. Adam knew if his parents were still alive, they would never sell him off at some black market auction. They’d hone Adam, like they had while alive, with the goal to use him in their own plans and dastardly deeds. In that sense, Adam could relate to Lisa in that both their sets of parents were far from heroes.

Adam wasn’t hungry. Instead of bothering to go to the lunch room, he decided to do something a bit more productive. He headed for the stairs, hands in his pockets.

Evelyn Eden

Where are you? Evelyn wondered as she looked around the school for the boy with white hair. With that snowy mop on his head, she would’ve thought he’d be easier to find, and yet, he was nowhere to be seen thus far. Besides a few unlikely places, like the teachers lounge, boys restroom, janitors closets, and the principal’s office, there weren’t very many other places left to check. When the bell rung, Evelyn decided perhaps she should just give up and sit with her friends. She felt like crap for leaving Portia and Bernice, but she had been so focused—for once, that she hadn’t considered their feelings. She made a note to talk to them and try to explain herself as soon as she could.

Before going to eat, Evelyn wanted to take a precious moment for her favorite pastime, and made for one of the stairwells to do so. She wasn’t positive she was allowed to be where it was she was going, but she was new and probably wouldn’t be crucified by any teachers for her ignorance. It would be so nice to clear my mind and soar among the clouds right now... Maybe just a quick flight! Evelyn imagined being an eagle or falcon, and feeling the rays of the sun shine on her feathers as she climbed the stairs to the roof excitedly.

When she reached to door to the roof access, she stopped cold in her tracks. Adam was standing in front of the door. His back was to her, and his hands were on the push bar, but he wasn’t walking through the door; he was simply standing there, head down. “...Adam?”

He turned around, taking his hands off the push bar. “Oh. It’s you again,” Adam replied offhandedly. “To what do I owe this pleasure?” He didn’t sound like he was being condescending, but rather, distracted.

“I thought—I mean, I was just...” Eve had been looking for him, but now that she’d found him, she almost didn’t know what to say. She hadn’t expected to find him after having called off the search. “What are you doing here?” It wasn’t what she wanted to ask, but the question flew past her lips without regard.

“I suppose I could ask you the same thing.” He replied. Evelyn noticed he didn’t answer her question. She sighed. She drew her courage and decided to ask about what was loudest in her mind.

“Adam, I... I wanna ask you something. I want you to be honest with me, please.”

Adam gazed at Evelyn with unwavering eyes and stood a little straighter. “I don’t lie,” he replied simply. “But I reserve the right to leave your questions unanswered.”

Is this some kind of game to you? Evelyn wondered, brow furrowed. She hoped he wasn’t lying to her right now about his honesty policy. Evelyn took a deep breath and held her hands clasped in front of her. “Adam, people are talking, and... well... did you try to hurt Angel last night? She said you came to her house and—“

“I sunk her house.” Adam cut Evelyn off with a soft voice.

Evelyn’s eyes widened; not at the fact that he had done it, but more so his candidness to the crime. “Why? How could you? Killing people isn’t what we’re supposed to learn here!” Evelyn felt her face flush and her knees shake. “What you did was wrong, not to mention illegal! That isn’t how you get justice! If Flower Girl hadn’t have been there...” Evelyn looked away from Adam and bit her lip.

“I sunk her house,” Adam repeated, tone still soft as clay. “But I wasn’t trying to kill anyone, or they’d be dead. You saw what Angel can do—she isn’t weak. Escaping wasn’t beyond her ability, and I made sure to let her house sink slower than I could have. It’s true, I didn’t think she could actually stop her house from sinking after I destroyed its foundation so thoroughly, and Flower Girl showing up was something I didn’t foresee, but—“

“And that makes it okay!?” Evelyn cried out. Her vision blurred as her eyes began to water.

Adam opened his mouth, and for a moment, no words came out. “I suppose not.” His tone hardened a bit as he continued, “Eve. I’m not like the rest of you here. You’ll find my goals will attest to that fact. So you’ll forgive me if my ethics don’t line up with your idea of heroism. Angel and John? They thought they could humiliate me. I hoped to teach them a bit of humility in return. My parents would be proud, if they were still here.”

Evelyn wiped at her eyes, sniffling. Evelyn didn’t know if her mother was still alive, but her father had gone from the world long ago. Her mother? Well, she wasn’t much of one to say the least. “I’m sorry your parents are gone, okay? But look, if putting people at risk is something your folks would be proud of, then maybe... maybe you shouldn’t be trying to make them proud. It sounds like maybe they weren’t exactly the greatest people in the world. Why don’t you just try to be a good hero. A good person! It’s not too late to make yourself proud, y’know. It’s not too late to inspire the people around you.” Evelyn dabbed at her other eye and turned around; she didn’t feel much like flying.

She couldn’t do this right now. Evelyn could hear Adam finally open the door to the rooftop and as she descended, she could only assume that’s where he was now. Evelyn walked hurriedly to the girls bathroom and took a few moments to collect herself, washing her face in the sink. She didn’t want to look weak in the lunchroom, and if she was going to cry, she’d rather do it at home. As she made to leave the restroom, she only just noticed Portia against the wall.

“Oh! Portia! The bell rang for lunch... are you alright? We can go together, if you want?” Evelyn offered gingerly, heeding her visible arcs of discharge with caution.

Angel finds Adam and she sighs "Adam" she says, making a mental note to use her hover board next time "You need to watch out for John" she says "And I'm sorry about yesterday, but well I don't like being threatened so we're even" she adds. "But back to the point John is pissed you sunk my house and somehow it reminded him off his past, so he's been reading your mind the entire time and is going to humiliate you and then kill you. I know you can probably take care of yourself, but you deserve to know what he's planning" she says, so she said it, what Adam was gonna do her warning wasn't her business, but at least he knows now "Don't let him get to you okay? You may not be a hero, but as long as you leave my family alone we won't have a problem, deal?" she asks, she didn't feel like walking back down since she couldn't find him "I really should use the gym more" she think, besides she didn't want to be in a crowded room so she might as well eat lunch on the roof.

John after searching for a couple minutes decided to search the rooftop. He comes to find Angel warning Adam about him, he was behind the door listening in on her. His heart, mind and body all shattered simultaneously, he walked down the stairs slowly with his hands in his pockets looking at the ground. Listening to Adams mind.

“So what your mom doesn’t matter? All that trauma? Your brother? Me, Maria? All is forgiven. Ok, yea just like everyone else. Hey my family is alive and I got money you should forget about your past and move on. Trash just like that book, all hollow people with hollow words I’ll listen when you actually lose something hypocrites.” John thinks as he walks down the stairwell realizing what “heroism” really is behind the pretty mask. A bunch of powerful people telling non powerful people how to live and act.

John makes his way to the cafeteria and grabs a plate and gets some candy then a apple for himself and sets the candy filled plate at the table Maria, Angel and John sat at last time. He then goes to the class room they would go to next and sits by the doorway eating his apple. Waiting for his teacher or class to start.

John sits there contemplating, listening and eating with a blank stare on his face.

Portia Lovelace
I can't. I cant. I can't. I can't. The words echoed in her head as her soft mumbles filled the small room. She felt as though she was suffocating as her breath shortened. I can't lose control here. Portia banged the back of her head against the cold wall, not hard enough to injure herself or make a noise louder than a gentle thud. "How could anyone be so careless... So ignorant..." Most of her turmoil derived from an earlier conversation, unsure of who made her more upset between John and Adam. She cared an uncomfortable amount about her classmates in her desperation to make friends that it physically pained her whenever things like this happened. Portia would never admit it even if her life was on the line but it was the truth. A little ginger strolled into the restroom looking different than her usual peppy attitude but quickly disappeared into the stall once she caught glimpse of the lightning user. Of course... She's afraid... Everyone's always afraid... I strike fear into the hearts of all who would look at me. She sunk down farther onto the ground, now laying in a curled ball with her hair spread around her. She held her head tighter feeling the pressure enclose around her as her bolts started to gain more energy. Why would anyone ever want to be friends with me? I'm trash, garbage... pathetic... I should just be a villain. Tears started to fill her eyes ready to burst out into a waterfall of sadness as she shifted from anger to anguish.

"...are you alright? We can go together, if you want?" The soft voice barely audible to her ears managed to pull her from sinking further into her depressive thoughts. The currents flowed slower, more stabilized than before as Portia looked up with a tear streaming down from one eye. "E-Eve... what are you doing here..?" The blue-haired girl sat up, her face clearly flushed from embarrassment as she wiped away the tear although her eyes stayed puffy and pink. "Don't... Get any closer... I-I don't want to hurt you." Her voice was soft and high pitched from holding back her tears while in the presence of another. The current seemed to have calmed down from the rippling lightning that raced around her but the energy still bounced off her body unpredictably. Even with the voltage being quite low now, not high enough to cause any actual damage outside a minor shock, Portia would still have to discharge herself to make it stop. "I must look so shameful... Zaxen and Bernice would probably think I'm pitiful..." She took her gaze away from Eve, choosing to stare at the tile pattern on the floor as she fiddled with strands of her hair.

Adam Antium

Eve had given Adam a great deal to think about. As he opened the door to the top of the school, he stood in the middle of the structure, looking out at the sky. He had come here for one reason, but he hadn’t anticipated Evelyn questioning him on the stairs. That’s when Adam noticed a student with blue hair sitting at the edge of the building rather precariously. He seemed to be really enjoying his food.

Just as he was about to say something to the boy, an all-too-familiar voice disrupted his ruminations; Angel. “Adam,” Adam turned around, arms crossed.

“Would you look at that,” Adam greeted the girl with narrowed eyes and stony expression. As she began warning him about John, he listened intently. If that didn’t surprise him, her apology certainly did, though Adam was skeptical of Angel’s genuineness. He figured she was here on behalf of her psychic interest. As she revealed more and more of John’s intentions and feelings, Adam got the inkling that perhaps Angel came on behalf of a portion of her heart that wasn’t shrouded in shadow. Perhaps.

Adam slowly uncrossed his arms and slid his hands into his pockets. He gave Angel a complete once over, trying to determine what to make of her. “I walked into that classroom yesterday, and you judged me. I felt it. I could see it in your eyes and hear it on your tongue. I’ve seen it before, and I’ll see it again, this I know. But we aren’t even...”

Adam gazed at a fluffy patch of clouds drifting by against the blue sky above. Clouds that were almost the exact opposite of the earth that bent to his will. “...We aren’t even, because it’s been brought to my attention that I may have overreacted. I won’t tell you that I feel sorry for what happened. I had a moment last night when I could have stopped myself, and I didn’t. Instead, I saw my actions through to the bitter end. However... I am glad you survived. Actually, I was counting on that. I’ve never met a shadow bender, but here and there, I’ve heard of what people like you are capable of.”

Adam’s gaze fell from the sky back to Angel. “You have my word, that I won’t put your family at risk the way I did last night. That was... unethical, to say the least. I thought it would make my parents proud. But it so happens that the dead want for nothing. You’re right about one thing Angel; I’m no hero. But I’m finished being your villain.”

It’s a testament to her character that she’s willing to move on and be done with the game of revenge. By all rights, she should be trying to kill me more so than any of the others. But if what she’s saying is true, than John may very well be in my mind even now. Adam pondered silently. Perhaps there was a range to his ability? Or perhaps John was more skilled than he assumed. Kill me, John. If you can. But understand one thing. There won’t be a suffering any man has experienced that will rival yours. My mercy is a fleeting thing.

Evelyn Eden

When Eve had seen the growing arcs of lightning dance around Portia, she had certainly kept a safe and respectful distance. Getting shocked was the last thing she needed right then. But when she saw the affect that her voice had on Portia—when she saw that her friend seemed to power down a bit, it encouraged Evelyn. The shape shifter stooped to her knees and dared to inch a bit closer.

“I came here because I talked to Adam, and he said things I... didn’t expect. Things I didn’t like. But I’m here now, because you’re my friend Portia. And I can see that you’re really hurting right now.” Evelyn pushed her hair behind her ear and moved closer still. “I know you won’t hurt me. Friends can’t hurt one another,” Evelyn continued, sniffling a bit still.

“Even if you shock me. You won’t hurt me, and I’ll still be your friend.” Of course, Evelyn didn’t mean Portia literally couldn’t hurt her, but she didn’t feel the need to explain that just then. She just wanted Portia to know it would be okay in the end.

“I don’t pity you, and neither would anyone who truly cares about you. Why don’t you take my hand, hm? Let’s get you washed up, and see what kind of slop passes for a meal at this academy? It would mean a lot to me if you did...” Evelyn held her hand out daringly, feeling the fine hair on her skin tingle and rise with the proximity.

"And I shouldn't have judged you" Angel says "And I don't plan on letting John kill you, but I warned you, so that's all I can do at the moment" she adds, she grins at his statement of him not being her villain "And I don't want you to, besides, I think we'd be pretty evenly matched" she says honestly "Oh just saying, John thinks you have a crush on Bernice, he shouted it for everyone to hear at study hall" she says, well looking at Adam now she realizes he might be a tiny bit lonely.

"This will sound weird, but do you wanna be friends? I kinda need more friends and well, you're not so bad when you're not set on having revange" she says "So let's start over and forget that what happened yesterday ever happened" she says, she found it quite easy talking to Adam, despite that he's a villain, and she didn't mind he was judging her, he had every right to do that after the day before "Geez I'm talking a lot lately" she thinks.

Zaxen groaned, “another one bites the dust.” He reached for his bag and pulled out an entire raw chicken. He held it by its foot. An explosion of flames shot out his mouth and enveloped the chicken. When they ceased, the chicken was fully roasted. Zaxen grinned, biting into a wing, “fuck yeah.”
Then, all of a sudden, a sinking feeling flooded through him. Where’s Portia? He had no idea why he was thinking this. It was like he just knew.

Confusion was riddled all over Florian's face as she rejected his offer. Instead, she just wanted to have lunch with him which was a foreign idea to him. He was confident that his mere presence wasn't enough to repay the gift that was given. Unless she meant that he would have to repay back her kindness with his body, manual labor. This getting to know one another was it just a guise to make a lackey out of him? No, it couldn't be. Florian took another moment in their conversation to think about their interaction as a whole. Was there any malice in her actions or words?

Her actions or lack there of were questionable. Brief to long periods of silence and stares filled with blushing and fidgeting. That must be a sign of shyness or low selfesteem. She must have been embarrassed or worried that her pops weren't good enough. Then, there were her words which unlike her actions had much to them. Stuttering and rambling signalled to Florian that she wasn't confident in what she was saying, so she tries to fill her conversations with too much information. Perhaps, her offer was just a way to ask for help in boosting her confidence? "Yes, that must be it," Florian thought, thinking himself a genius.

Well, the first step in boosting confidence is to praise the person. "Me, nurturing?" Florian chuckled, "I'm nothing of the sorts. I just did what I had to do for myself and others. But, if you were to do the same thing at home and school, well you're the real nurturer here. Plus, you know how to cook," Florian found himself rambling as well, giving out compliments wasn't exactly his forte. "Ah, I digress. I suppose it would be fun to have lunch with someone for a change." He packed up his stuff and started walking towards the door. "You said you wanted to get to know one another. What did you want to know about me?"
