To get back to this since I read up on it a little more, there are a number of certain "shady" organisations active throughout (portions of) the Savage Frontier. The Zhentarim are one of the bigger ones. There is no base of operations for any crime syndicate within Nightstone itself, but if you're looking to get into that world, PM me and we can discuss options

I had Ehlark check after Esvele (since she looked past him, plus he knows the others might come with his absence) and got a high roll. I choose not to describe him really seeing anyone yet, as it seems they aren't exactly over the hill? Just thought I'd clarify, and ask what to include or wait for.

Okay... 1. not sure if I should wait on posting until Dethrix/Ehlark can get an answer on what is seen with a 19...
2. Is there an expected way for contested checks to work? I was thinking that Esvele was probably going to see if he was hiding anything (Insight vs persuasion?), would that just be a back and forth post of the rolls or would that be a singular post from the initiator's side?

2. I think Ehlark was definitely trying to persuade her, the only reason I didn't roll was because I was letting the RP flow. Otherwise though, I think it would be contested between us two in the Rolls (Other) tab.

I'd say if you got like, a 20+ perception check, he'd notice the sudden silence on the other side of the hill, but otherwise no signs of them slowly approaching

the person who's actually doing the talking would be doing a Persuasion check if they're telling the truth, a Deception check if they're lying, and they don't necessarily need to share which one they're rolling for since that would spoil it kind of
when your character has doubts as to whether or not someone's telling the truth or hiding something, then it would be a contested check of your insight versus their persuasion/deception

I'm thinking while she waited a bit for the group to return, May had some some quick glances around, just kind of trying to discern if there's anything interesting worth paying attention to around the general area (she did this without getting up though). Do you think maybe a perception check would do for this?
