It's the Civil War. Heroes need to be registered, their identities known. Some follow the rules, others resist. Now a girl knows the answer to stop this war; either side could win with this information. Captain America will recruit her. But will they succeed in stopping the war?

The war had gotten ugly, this was something that happened to all wars, sooner or later but that didn't mean it was less bad. Steve Rogers and gone somewhere which seemed rather untouched by the hellish fires and all kinds of madness. A war between them who lived to save the civilians of this world had caused greater damage to it than any villain had ever done. Not even Loki had managed to put every street, every building and every tree in New York a blaze. Steve was watching the destruction and how the fire even seemed to have put the skies in flames as he went upward in the glass elevator. He couldn't help but to feel a little sad.

Steve's eyes fell upon the shield of which he still held in a tight grip. It was a habit, but as he managed to catch his own reflection in the window in front of him he almost let go of it. His uniform didn't look like the image of great justice anymore. It was dirty, burned and tattered. Even Captain Americas pressures shield had not only faded and been scratched to the point of unrecognizable but it also had a big dent next to the great star. He was no more a symbol but a man. A very big, strong and fast man, but a man none-the -ess. His title as Captain and his countless deeds of heroism and greatness had been washed away.

The elevator stopped, he had reached the first floor, Nick Fury's office and the great archive. Why had he decided to climb the tallest building in all of New York? It wasn't to watch the destruction, nor was it to shed a tear for what he and the rest of the world had lost, even if he seemed to have done both. It was to find hope. The Captain stepped out of the windowed cage and started walking through long and dark corridors. If the man had believed in ghosts he would have acted more carefully for no place seemed more haunted than the building of SHIELD, especially not more than now after being abandoned and left to crumble like the rest of New York.

It wasn't till he walked past Nick Fury's office that Steve stopped and turned his head, for he head seen something through the giant wall of glass. There in the chair of the head of SHIELD sat none other than Fury, looking as beaten and downtrodden as the Captain himself, he was holding a cracked glass of whiskey and was watching the destruction and death below in the same fashion as Steve had done.

“It's a travesty.” Nick said, clearly knowing he was being watched and Captain America took not another moment to stand in the dark and dreary corridor but instead stepped inside the just as dark and dreary office. “Come again, sir?” Captain ask with a voice that didn't sound anything like the voice he used to have. The warming, caring and polite voice of old was far gone and Steve had no clue where he had left it but in it's place was a quick, cracked and slightly hissed doppelganger. “It's a travesty. All the hard work, all our great visions of a good future. Sure it was probably not meant to be but I never thought it would fall this far from what it used to be. I actually was dumb enough to believe it couldn't get any worse than what it was before we fished you out of the ocean.”

Steve walked up to him, his former employer who now held just as little power as the Captain himself seemed to do. They were both of a world that no more existed, both wishing for something that no longer was.

“The Avengers was brought together to protect this world, to protect all of us. Perhaps the counsel was right all along? Maybe... But why are you here Captain? I doubt it has something to do with nostalgia?” Nick continued, still watching the battle from outside his window. “Actually sir, the ally where I used to get beaten as a civilian is gone so this is the only nostalgia I would have left.” Steve said, attempted to light a mood that no longer could be lightened. It made Nick chuckle though, before turning his seat around so he could watch the Captain's face. “Then why are you here?”

The silence that followed was unbearable but Steve had difficulty deciding what he would say. Mentioning that he had a feeling, a hunch, that something could turn this battle around, that something could stop the war seemed to be a childish wish. Perhaps Steve was childish, deep down maybe he still was that fragile little man he once was. A man who could do nothing but get back up after being punched in the face, just to get punched some more. “I am looking for something to stop this war.” He then said, awaiting Nick to laugh in his face but the head of SHIELD did nothing of the sort. “What exactly makes you feel that there is any hope for this world?”

It was a tricky question and the Captain was not one to think too hard on something, he acted on impulse on what he thought was right. “A hunch. All wars ends someday.” Nick shook his head, smirking to himself with a expression that only showed pure hopelessness. “This war will not end till everything we loved is gone, there is no stopping it.” The words Fury used did not break Steve, it didn't even make him question is actions but instead rethink his wording. “Then we'll have to stop it from even staring.”

Steve spoke as if this was a easy thing to do but he was a man of old. New technology was almost as strange as magic to him, and he had seen plenty of magic. The Captain watched as Nick Fury leaned back in his seat, his emotion turning from hopelessness to anger in a second, but when he opened his mouth to shout at the old soldier to give up his idiot dream he stopped himself and his eye grew wide. It was then the Captain realized that there indeed was such a thing.

Jogging after Nick Fury took no effort of Steve's, but Nick looked rather winded when they stopped before a giant iron door. He was breathing heavily as he pushed in the code for the locked door and let it scan his nonworking eye behind the eye-patch. “There may be something...” Nick said as he entered the archive with Steve towering behind him. “Something secretive.” Of course it was secretive, it was SHIELD. Steve would bless the day as God's gift when a secret came from somewhere else but SHIELD.

“Before the Avengers we attempted to create our own heroes. Don't look at me like that, we were desperate.” Nick frowned as he pulled out a old paper file from a shelf. The Captain was surprised SHIELD even used paper. “We mixed Mutant DNA with Human DNA, to try and create best combination. It was all a big failure and most of our test subjects ended up dying. All but one.”

As Nick handed Steve one of the old archives the Captain wasn't too sure he wanted to witness whatever was in it. Worried it was something terrifying, something that he wanted nothing to do with. Unfortunately he had no choice and as he took a look inside he was greeted by a photo of a young woman, a name, age and a address. But it wasn't the woman's personal details that caught his attention and when Nick turned around to face him he was already gone, the archive neatly put back where it belonged.

Nick fury walked through the empty corridor, not bothering with locking the door to the archives. He stood still and collected by the great and broken window in his office and watched the broken glass glitter on the ground, many, many levels below him, like diamonds. Like hope.

The city was in chaos. Everyone was scared of going outside. Some thugs had taken advantage of the situations, robbing people that dared venture outside. Emma was one of those people that kept going outside. She refused to let some robbers stop her from living her life. Besides, she was a journalist. It was her job to keep up to date about the war. To do that, she had to go out. So she went every day. So far, no thugs had bothered her. Not yet at least.

Today was an easy day for Emma. She had to write a piece for the newspaper the following day. Though she had to remain objective when writing, in reality she was rooting for the side against regulation. She believed everyone had a right for privacy, superhero or not. So a lot of her papers were about Captain America and his team. This one would be about them too. There had been a battle a couple of days ago, with Captain America's team forced to flee. She felt bad for them, she understood their plight and secretly rooted for them. Her father had also fought on their side.

To get some more inspiration, she was watching the news. She was sitting on her couch, legs pulled up next to her, her arm leaning on the arm rest to keep herself comfortably seated. She watched as the tv showed the battle two days ago, When the images disappeared and the reporter started on another topic, Emma grabbed the remote and turned the tv off. She didn't really care about the rest. Standing up, Emma stretched before shuffling to her desk. Sitting down in her chair, she grabbed some papers and started writing.

There was a knock on the window. He felt rude for not ringing a doorbell or knocking on the actually front door, but this wouldn't be helped. If someone saw him things would go rather bad. The Captain looked around slightly worried that one of Stark's suit had notice him, he had been running none-stop from the SHIELD building after all, if someone hadn't noticed him he'd be very surprised.

“I am terribly sorry for this, ma'am.” He added, behind the glass of the window, hoping that she wouldn't scream or that she wasn't on Stark's side. That would complicate things indeed. “But I need your help” He added, quickly, looking as humble as he could be with his tattered mask and scared face.

Emma jumped at a knock on her window, surprised. When she looked to see what it was, her mouth fell open in surprise. Captain America, knocking on her window. She jumped up, quickly going to her window and opening it. "Quick, get inside!" She'd ask him questions once he was safe inside. If he was noticed.... they'd both be in trouble. She had to avoid that. So she invited the man inside, even when she just wanted him to leave. She was afraid she'd get sucked into this war, something she wanted to avoid at all cost.

The Captain jumped inside rather quickly for someone so much bigger than the opening given to him. He nodded at her, bowed slightly like a salute before shuffling nervously from side to side. He could see on her face that his presence didn't make her feel as good as he had hoped, she clearly didn't want him there but at the same time he couldn't really blame her.

“I apologize, ma'am, I didn't mean to disturb you in your work.” He said, shuffling around a bit more, trying his best to find a good place to stand, which only caused him to hit his head on the lamp frame. He blinked and looked up, taking a hold of the lamp to stop it from swinging back and fort like it did. “I need your help.” He added, looking down at her, being almost three heads taller than she was.

Once Cap was inside, Emma quickly closed the window and the curtains. She couldn't take the chance of a drone looking inside her apartment. She turned back around to the Captain, swallowing. She listened to him talk, and felt a heavy weight settle in her stomach. So she was going to be pulled into this war. She wouldn't go down without a fight though. "Look, I understand your plight. I really do, I'm on your side. But..." She sighed. "I can't help. What difference could I make? I'm just a normal girl."

Captain America didn't wish to be the barer of bad news, however, it was part of the job description. Even if the local police always had to carry it out instead of himself. He was a old soldier and knew how to do it. “I understand your worry, ma'am. Unfortunately I have little choice and so do you. I need your help to stop the war.” He nodded, trying to look as friendly as possibly but it was difficuly when he felt so extremely tired.

“I have read your file. The SHIELD file.” He narrowed his eyes at her. This was perhaps going to be a awful ordeal, but he had little else to do. “You have the ability to take us back in time, don't ask me how... I can't even explain how a cellphone works... they used to be big as pricks once.... But that is beside the point.” He took a deep breath and continued. “I don't want you ti fight the war, I just want to be able to go back and stop it from happening. To talk some sense into Stark before this whole idea goes public.”

He must have finally cracked. There was no way she had powers. Emma shook her head. "I'm sorry, you must have me confused with someone else. I don't have powers." But then her father's dying words came back to her. He had told her she would play a part in the war. Was this what he meant? Did he know she had powers? She rubbed her face, confused. "Okay...." She looked back up at Captain America. "Let's say you're right, I do have those powers. How would I learn to use them? I have no clue. And if you found out about this, Iron Man will too. He'll try and stop you, stop me. I can't fight him!" She knew some basic martial arts, but not nearly enough to protect herself from Tony Stark, much less Iron Man. She stood no chance against the suit. Agreeing to this would place her in mortal danger. Was she willing to run that risk?

He already had a small idea on how to teach her how to use her powers, but he wouldn't be the one doing to teaching. As for Stark, the Captain wasn't so sure that Tony would try to kill them, would he find out about her powers. Rogers figured he'd try to do the same thing, but perhaps in a different way. “I have a friend.” He had many friends but one of them was rather difficult to get hold of but the one they needed. “Don't worry yourself about Iron Man, if he comes for you, I'll sort him out. I found your files by accident, it will take him quite some time to find them too.” He looked around, trying his best to avoid bumping into anything, the best they could do was to get out looking for Quicksilver. If anyone could teach someone how to use powers based on the mutant gene, it was probably a mutant. Not that Quicksilver was one to want to help anyone. “Besides, if you are right and Tony is getting here to get you, you are safer with me than in here. Where is the fastest way to the subway from here?” He asked as he started to walk through the house. They had to leave, time was not on their side, funnily enough.

Emma had a feeling she wouldn't be able to go home for a while. "It's a 5 minute walk, I'll show you." She first quickly went into her bedroom, stuffing a photo in her pocket and grabbing a necklace that was a present from her father. She then went back to where Captain America was waiting, grabbing her jacket and pulling it on. She opened her door, looking out into the hallway. Clear. She went outside and walked over to the elevator. She knew the Captain would follow her. They got into the elevator once it arrived. As they went down, Emma glanced at the Captain. He was bigger than she had expected. His muscles were huge. To think she would be standing next to him, even running for Iron Man... It was like a bad dream. Unfortunately it was reality. The lift opened, and Emma quickly left the building. She went in the direction of the subway, walking fast. She wouldn't run, that would attract attention. Not that they weren't already, with Captain America next to her.

The Captain followed her, close. It was safest that way. After all, would something happen to her it all would blow up in smoke. Luck seemed to be on their side however, for once, as they reached the subway unnoticed. Unfortunately the entrance was blocked by rubble and stone, probably from one of the fallen buildings. It didn't matter much to the Captain however, he quickly disposed of the rubble, using his strong muscles to do so, lifting rock after rock. Soon a tight entrance could be seen, big enough for the both of them luckily.

"You first ma'am." He said, placing a comforting hand on her back as he looked around. The subway belonged to the mutants, they who had been neutral in the way from the very beginning and seeing as Roger's knew their leader as a old friend, they would both be more than safe down there. "Ma'am," He added, felling he could at least give her some sense of security. "If something would happen and I am not near, just shout for Quicksilver and remember to mention my name." He nodded. Yes, they would both be just fine...

Emma climbed through the entrance, looking around the abandoned subway. Although, abandoned... There was no one else there but her and the Captain, but it was clear people had been there. There were plastic bags scattered across the floor, empty soda cans and sigarette buds lying everywhere. She waited for the Captain to join her, before turning back to him, worried at his words. "Do you think something will happen?" Emma didn't want to be seperated from the man next to her. She felt... safe with him next to her. He was strong, if anything happened he could protect her. And she knew she was going to need his help. Going with him, she had gotten involved with the war and chosen a side. Stark's side would not take kindly to that.

The Captain was looking around the subway, peering around corners and always stayed two steps in front of the young lady, to protect her. In the underground you had to worry about completely different enemies that the armies of Stark, this were the realm of them who hadn't chosen a side, they who stayed neutral and blamed the outside world on the normal human. The Mutants lived down here or at least the mutants who cared little for the outside world. Quicksilver and his sister, the Scarlett Witch were two of them. They had once belonged to the Avengers but at the same time as the Hulk had been sent into space - to get rid of the problem of someone unstoppable - by Tony Stark they had decided to lay low and never wear the mark of the Avengers ever again.

She was worried, he could hear that on her voice and he understood perfectly as to why. Comparison to her he was a soldier, strong, quick and skilled in the arts of battle while she was a girl who barely knew what she could do. However, Captain America trusted Quicksilver more than anyone, at this point in time. He knew how it felt to wake up one morning without being able to control himself, he knew how to handle it.

He was perfect.

"Something will happen, that I can promise you. Just remember to shout for Quicksilver is something does and not me, alright? He would be not only quicker to come to the rescue but also be able to reason with your captives. After all, we are dealing with Mutants. Very angry mutants."

It had taken Steve quite some time to get use to the notion of super-humans, never mind the idea of mutations that caused people to turn into a 'superior' species, as they often wanted to call themselves. He looked around the corner, peering and hoping that they'd find who they were looking for soon.

It was then something happened behind him, two hands grew up through the floor and grabbed Emma's legs and pulled her down with them.

The hands belonged to Shadow Cat, a young girl with a scar climbing across her entire face. She had, at first wanted to protect the innocent, seeing as she was a main part of the X-men but after hey boyfriend, Colossus, had been killed by Iron Man she had turned to her fellow mutants for comfort, safety and hope. She was the only who now held Emma in a strong grip, pressing her against the wall. "Who are you and what are Captain America doing here?!" She shouted in anger, her eyes were red but not because of colour but because of never ending tears.

Behind her others began to form. Some looked like humans would other looked different. One man looked like a ice sculpture, half of his faced torn off. Another looked like a giant mutated Frog. Never mind who she would look at they all looked broken, tired and awfully angry.

Emma followed the Captain, staying close. She was nervous; she knew the mutants were down here, and did not know what to expect. She knew little about them, as not much was known about them. All she knew was that they were neutral in the war.

As she waited for him to check the area, she kept looking around. She kept expecting someone to pop up. When they finally did, they still managed to take her by surprise. Two hands suddenly grabbed her ankles, dragging her down. Surprised, Emma let out a scream as she fell. But before she could hit the ground the hands released her ankles and pushed her against the wall, keeping her there. She struggled, but it was useless. She looked at her captor. A young woman with brown hair looked back at her, angry red eyes staring at her. The girl's focus then shifted to the Captain, giving Emma the opportunity to look at the others that had appeared. They all looked different, except for the look in their eyes; it wasn't just anger that shined in their eyes, but a tiredness as well. The war had broken them, she could clearly see it. Her fear made way for a deep sadness. These people were victims as well. Broken by the war, they hid underground.

Emma's fear returned however when the woman holding her started screaming. Her grip on Emma grew stronger, and she winced. "Quicksilver!" she gasped. "We're here to see Quicksilver! Please, we mean you no harm!" She was terrified. These people looked like they could seriously hurt her. She remembered the Captain telling her to scream for Quicksilver if something happened, but the fear kept her breathless, unable to shout. Besides, maybe she could reason with these people. She prayed she wasn't making a mistake, trying to reason with them.

He appeared like a blur, almost as if he had heard her say his name long before she had opened her mouth. He stood not far from her, leaning against the wall with his unnatural silver-like hair standing to one side. Was he a teleported? No, but almost. He was dressed to match the hair, silver jacket, black t-shirt and tattered dark jeans. He looked very much like the blur he had appeared in. As soon as he had materialized by that dirty old wall, the other mutants had instantly stepped back. Why? Because he could beat them to the pulp before they even noticed it happening. He wasn't a level one mutant, his sister was but that didn't mean that he wasn't worth fearing.

"Sup."

Sup, it was all he said as he looked at her with deep blue eyes. Not even paying attention to Kitty Pride who slowly moved off the wall, letting the young girl go. She had called for their leader, or at least one of them. The only one that made sure they were never found and that they had food and water. She wasn't desperate enough to fight him. Not even by a little.

"What is it you want down here, Forest Fire?" He called her Forest Fire, called her something so devastatingly destructive, something uncontrollable. With a small but strong smile on his pale lips, he clearly saw her as no threat but he still called her such a thing?

Emma was relieved when the woman let her go. She quickly took a step away from the wall and the woman, just in case she'd try something again. She turned to the man that had just appeared. She assumed he was Quicksilver. She was confused at his name for her. "I'm Emma," she decided to introduce herself first. "Captain America said you could help me." She glanced at the other mutants, not sure if it was safe for them all to know about her supposed powers. She still wasn't convinced she had them, thinking the Captain approached the wrong girl. But it wouldn't hurt to try, right?

"Help you?" Quicksilver said, narrowing his eyes and moving away from the wall. Was she serious? Why would he want to help anyone, especially a human? They were nothing but trouble. She did however mention Steve, the only one of the Avengers that still were alive and sane. Though, Pietro started to have slight doubts about the sanity part. "What exactly do you need my help with? And why should I help you, Forest Fire?"

Quicksilver folded his arms, watching her in silence. He could hear footsteps. The Captain was coming, quickly for a human but not quick enough. Pietro still had time to both listen to the girls reasons, decide what do to and slit her throat. They'd be gone long before he could reach them.

Emma could hear the footsteps as well. She felt relieved, he really had come for her. But Quicksilver looked dangerous. There was something... off about him. Like he could kill her without blinking. He was starting to scare her. She had to tell him about her supposed powers, despite the other mutants around. She had a feeling she'd be in trouble if she didn't.

"Captain America found some information about me. Apparently when I was a baby, SHIELD experimented on me. I don't know what they did or why, that's all the Captain told me. But according to him, I have powers that allow me to travel through time." She shifted, nervous. "He said you could help me control them, and then I can stop the war before it even begins." She didn't mention her doubts about the girl being her. She didn't know how the man in front of her was going to react to that information. She just hoped he'd help her, and if he decided not to Captain would be here soon.

Raising an eyebrow Quicksilver began to smile even wider before he started to laugh. He wasn't a bad guy, in fact he was once a hero but he wasn't the nicest of guys, even Tony Stark had described him a multiple of times as an 'ass'. After his laughing, the young man shook his head. "Travel through time? Kitty can do that." He gestured towards Shadow Cat, who looked to be so far down her depression that she almost looked dead. "And that's what Stark did to her when he found out. What do you think he's going to do with you, once he figure out what the Captain knows?" Apparently Quicksilver didn't doubt her information.

"SHIELD experiments on people all the time, Hydra does the same. Me and my sister knows that." He removed his silver jacket, revealing his right arm, it was covered with black markings, old and dried up holes for tubes and needles, he pulled up the t-shirt arm to reveal that it continued all the way over the shoulder, half of his chest and possibly even his back. He pulled the shirt back down, hiding his well sculpted abs and his scars and put his jacket back on. "I assume he took you hear so I could teach you how to use SHIELD's gift? What's in it for me?"

The footsteps came closer, Cap was on the second level now, getting closer.

Emma gasped when she saw his scars. They looked awful, like they had hurt really bad. She felt sorry for him. She didn't pity him, she was sure he didn't want that, but she felt sad he had to go through such a thing. She felt hatred for Hydra fill her, for having done these things. At least she didn't remember anything, and didn't have any scars. But Quicksilver and his sister... she couldn't imagine the pain and suffering they went through. She felt a little ashamed at her previous carefree attitude, how she was content to stay at the sidelines while people like Quicksilver and these other mutants were suffering.

Emma didn't know how to answer his question. She herself didn't know how she could help. So she decided to just tell him the truth. "I don't know. I don't know what I can do with these powers. I only just found out I have them! But I will do anything I can to stop this from happening. I know Stark will come after me. And I'm scared, he terrifies me. I can't fight, I'm no match for him without the suit, let alone with. But I won't let it stop me." She looked at the ground. She couldn't stop talking. All her feelings came pouring out, even those she didn't want to share. "I'm a journalist. I have seen first hand what this war is doing to everyone. This fighting affects everyone. The whole world has changed. And for what? No one will win this. There will only be more victims, until no one is left." She looked back up, determination in her eyes. "I don't want that. I want things to be how they used to. I want children to be able to play on the streets, I want mutants to live freely above ground, I want peace between the heroes. I want the fighting to stop. And if I can help accomplish that, I will. I will do anything. Whatever it takes. According to the Captain I need your help. But if you won't give it to me, I'll figure it out myself. I don't need you."

Emma felt lighter. She had been struggling with her emotions, but now that she was able to vocalize them it felt like a weight had been lifted from her shoulder. She hadn't realised when her feelings had changed. When Captain America entered her apartment, she just wanted him to leave and never come back. But now, all she wanted to do was help. She was a part of this now. And she had no intention of backing out.

Quicksilver was watching her through her little rant. She was cute, a bit naive perhaps but at least she had the heart in the right place and knew what was right to do. Of course, when she mentioned mutants on the outside world he couldn't help but to chuckle. Mutants had never been liked by the human world, not before the war and probably not after either. He rolled his shoulder, stretched his neck and took a deep breath though his nose. It was clear that he had made up his mind.

"I can't help you."

He spoke truth. Her powers was not the same as his, his was a mutation, it was something that had grown out of his genetics, something that HYDRA had only made stronger through their experiment, his powers were natural. Hers were not. He stroke his chin in thought, watching her as the footsteps got louder and Captain America could be seen stepping out of the shadows behind her, he had heard her speech and was now a hundred percent positive that she was the right girl.

"However." Quicksilver continued as Steve placed himself next to him. Peitro couldn't even reach the super soldier's shoulder no matter how tall he actually was. "I know someone who can. I mean, I can teach you to control your powers but I can't develop them for you. You clearly have never used them so I doubt you even know how to start. My sister can force them out of you. She's good with the whole 'matter manipulation' thing. I am certain she could do it and if you don't actually have any powers she'll figure that out too. Sounds good?"

Pietro looked up at Steve instead of looking at the girl, she looked tired and a bit out of it. Perhaps it was best for the soldier to decide if it was worth the risqué. Not many could stand someone else's presence within their head. "But you can teach her as soon as she start using it? So it is used responsibly." Steve asked, looking back down at the still very tall man who smirked from ear to ear. "Sure, kinder garden teacher number one, I can sort that out once she start waving magic around."

Only one thing remained and Steve did not look forward to it. "We need to speak with Wanda?" He said, carefully and Pietro nodded as he stepped forward towards Emma, who reached him barely to his chin. "Yup, the Scarlet Witch is actually already waiting."

Quicksilver grinned and everyone who knew a thing or two about the less stable but supremely strong Mutant called Scarlet Witch would probably rather run for their lives than follow him through the maze of the underground.

Emma's shoulders fell when Quicksilver said he couldn't help her. She had hoped she wouldn't have to try and figure it out on her own. She looked behind her as she heard the Captain approach. She was glad to see him again. She felt safer with him present. She smiled, following him with her eyes as he joined Quicksilver. She perked up when Quicksilver started talking again, and felt relieved when he mentioned someone who could help. A smile formed on her lips, glad that this trip hadn't been for nothing. She watched the exchange between the soldier and mutant, content to let the Captain handle it. Exhaustion was slowly taking over her body, distracting her slightly from the world around her. She wanted to crawl into bed and sleep, forget everything for today and fight again tomorrow. But she couldn't. There was a lot of work to do.

Emma looked up as Quicksilver walked over to her. Emma had never seen herself as short, but compared to these two men she felt so small. They towered over her. "Your sister can help me?" She was curious to find out what the woman could do. She hadn't heard about the Scarlet Witch before. Emma was nervous, but if Cap trusted them she would too.

As they walked through the tunnels, candles had started to decorate the wall. It was strange, perhaps a little to strange for a place such as this to have lit candles but it was Scarlet Witch's theme alright. Captain America started to look rather out of place, not because of his costume, blurring together with the red draped over the walls but because he looked very uncomfortable.

There was many things to learn and read up one, once he had emerged from the ice. After all, last time he knew it had been the end of the second world war. Never had he heard of magic, mutants and strange green monsters. Never had he seen sights such as the Red Skull in daylight, as if it was a normal thing. It confused him, just like it confused everyone else as to why the mutants were hated when there was heroes such as Spiderman out there who seemed to have strange abnormal abilities. Steve assumed it had something to do with the knowledge that a mutant could be born at any moment, it could be any were. Sitting next to your kid on the buss, being your boss and the fact that their strange abilities could burst out at any moment would of course terrify the day to day man.

All mutants wasn't bad, of course. Some were good, many in fact. Steve imagined that there was just as many wicked mutants as there were humans. Give or take a few hundred more humans.

And then there was people like Scarlet Witch.

The entered a chamber which seemed to have been carved out from tunnel wall. The inside looked like something from a story book, a temple of old and in the middle of the rubble sat a woman, lit by candle light and with eyes on Quicksilver and their guests as if she had been waiting for them.

"Why do you bring humans into our home Pietro? What would father say...?"

The woman had a helmet in her lap. A purple and red helmet which belonged to no other than the long gone mutant Magnito.

Emma followed the two men, looking around as they walked. They sometimes came across other mutants, who would watch them go. It saddened her to see them all, some with old wounds, others mentally broken. It made her even more determined to stop it from happening. She was almost starting to hope Cap was right, that she had those powers.

As they got closer and candles starting appearing on the walls, Emma's nerves came back. She walked a little closer to the Captain, taking comfort in his prescence. As they entered the room, her mouth almost fell open. It was beautiful. It almost seemed like they had left the tunnels and entered a temple. She looked around, before directing her eyes to the middle of the room. The woman seated there must be the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver's sister. She didn't sound very welcoming. When Emma noticed the helmet, a soft gasp escaped her lips. She recognized the helmet. Ofcourse she knew about Magneto, the mutant that wanted to destroy the world as they knew it. They were his children.

Emma's eyes shifted to Captain America, disbelief in her eyes. She couldn't believe they went to Magneto's children for help. Ofcourse she was aware not all children were like their parents. But the Scarlet Witch's words sounded as if they had supported him. Why did the Captain take her to these people?
