Jin raises her Bio-Energy Rifle and begins to start looking for targets, not firing yet waiting on Toni's order to fire. She goes through various scenarios in her mind of gorehounds...she takes a deep calming breath...going through the exercise of loosening her muscles in preparation for contact.

-"There is no fucking cover here! Awaiting your order to fire...the small targets are approaching quickly, unless they stop and fire, we will probably be going close quarters back here...be ready"

A shout from the dark answers Toni, saying, "We want the Saint! Give her to us and you can walk away. Otherwise, we attack. The choice is yours."

From the other side, several barks and growls can be heard, signaling that you are dealing with multiple Gorehounds.

Axel looks over at Toni and grips his rifle tighter and shakes his head slightly, aiming down the tunnel towards the Hounds.

What do you do?

Eonivar Eonivar Psychie Psychie Sherwood Sherwood

Reaching into the Zanji Shinkinjen-Ryu way of living, Chaska takes a breath of self-control and releases his mind of all concerns replacing them with the battle disciplines of his own ancestors, House Apollo. When he exhales that single breath, all of his doubts seem to go with it. Wisdom follows. Voices from the past appear to come forth, answering the last living member of House Apollo.

"Every good fortress... has but one entry... which if guarded well... makes the enemy... pay a price... most dear."

"One entry," Chaska sends over the Bio-Comms without really realizing it.

Calmly, without swagger or hesitation, Chaska enters the middle of the rear of the tunnel. In WyldKat's right hand, he draws one of his large acidic swords. In the other, his Burner. He orders his Side Kicks behind what little cover there is (unless Jin or another Splicer takes it).

His Burner glows bright, filling the floor of the rear of the tunnel with dangerous flame. The wandering Deliveryman believes the fire will not unnerve the loyal Gorehounds... but it might control their movement. He wants the flame to be higher than the Gorehound's heads. Being horizontally-made creatures, the Gorehounds' view is much closer to the ground than Cerberus Squad's. High flames on the left and right, he forms a single entry - where the flames are at their lowest. If the Gorehounds wish to attack in a melee, they will have to leap over these flames - this one entry - or remain out of the battle.

Just behind this entry is the place the Gorehounds must land if they leap over the flames. Here, Chaska has the Chemical Sprayer Side Kick set down an area of Stick-Um, just outside of the flames.

If his strategy works, the Gorehounds will leap over the flames only to land in the Stick-Um. (OOC: Even if this doesn't work, I hope the idea is at least worth xp! What's a Palladium game without creativity right?) =)

Toni doesn’t spare a glance over her shoulder to see the fire. If there was anything for her to worry about, the team would tell her. Instead, she focuses on her front and says, “That’s not going to happen, Scooter.” She then targets the one to her left and fires a dual burst at him with her Casting Launchers

Following Toni's example, Chaska asks the now-heated WyldKat to protect Saint Karen. Resisting the urge to challenge the gorehounds with a shout of "Apllo Zanbato!" Chaska puts away his Burner, aims at the nearest Gorehound, and looses hell (see O.O.C.).

Whether or not his blasts hit, he innocently asks over the Bi-Comms in an oddly casual voice, "Toni? Who Scooter?" Psychie Psychie

Toni's sudden burst seems to catch her target off guard, and she manages to score a solid hit.

Chaska's burst at the Gorehound results in a loud yelp, but it is far from dead as it and the two other Gorehounds charge forward.

Initiative time!

Toni breaks into a run, charging forward to both close the range between the three of them and also to make herself a more appealing target to focus on. With a quick command to her Sidekick Rifle, she orders it to engage her target in autonomous mode so she can use her Casting Launchers to maximum effect. She fires another dual burst at the same target, trying to do as much damage as possible.

OOC Do I roll for the Sidekick Rifle since I have it acting on its own?

Toni's shot tracks on the Dreadlord despite his efforts to dodge, striking him hard. He stumbles, but the man manages to evade the Sidekick Rifle's attack.

The first of the Gorehounds, a much larger and stronger breed than you have seen before, leaps through the flames and lands in the pool of Stick-Um. It pulls itself free, losing one of its actions in the process, and continues its charge forward and it will be in melee range on its next attack. It doesn't seem to notice the flames that are still flickering on its haunches from the focus it has on you.

Purr Purr is up. Do you have your two Sidekicks act independently, or do you keep direct control of them? If you release them to act on their own, they will act on your initiative and have their own actions, just like Toni's Rifle.

"Come, WyldKat!"

Surrounded by orange flames and lifting off with his jetpack, Chaska unloads on the Gorehound Mauler with both of his Dual Cannons. Over his Bio-comms, he directs Sidekick #1 to strafe the Gorehound Mauler and Sidekick #2 to shoot Stick-Um into the Gorehound Mauler's eyes. Chaska directs Woodstock to stay out of combat, monitor Toni's part of the battlefield, and alert him should Toni need back-up.

Dual Heat Cannons = +12 to Strike (now airborne). 2D8x10+10 M.D. if successful.
Sidekick #1 - +4 to Strike. 8D10 M.D. if successful.
Sidekick #2 - +4 to Strike. Called Shot. Blinded big-time if successful.

The large Gorehound is quick despite its size, and it manages to leap aside from the attacks of the two Sidekick Rifles, but is not quite fast enough to evade Chaska's weapon fire and takes the hit. Its tough, and is still in the fight.

The Dreadlord fires at Toni a salvo of six bio-missiles. They will hit unless you burn an attack to try and shoot them down since you cannot dodge that many missiles at once.

Axel fires his Thud Gun at the Mauler Gorehound and manages to score a solid hit.

Sidekick #4 fires a Grub at the Dreadlord. It gets lucky with a solid hit.

The Packmaster fires a burst from his Casting Rifle at Toni. It will hit, but you can dodge this one.

Psychie Psychie has a defense to declare for two attacks.

The impact of the missiles throws off your dodge efforts enough that both attacks hit you. You take 168 MD from the missiles, and another 56 MD from the Casting Rifle.

Eonivar Eonivar is up.

As the explosions from the missiles erupt from behind her position, Jin aims carefully with her Bio-Energy Rifle, focusing fire on the Gorehound Mauler, and looking at hitting its Vital Points.

Aimed Rifle Heavy Shot with Vital Points Skill (selecting knockout/stun on a 16-20) (2 Attacks) 1D20+5 = 10+5 = 15 to Hit

(rolling damage to make things go along quicker whether or not the damage is applied)

Damage: 4D8+35 = 18+35 = 53 MDC Damage

Jin's attack on the Mauler does not go unnoticed, and it tries to dodge, but you were able to anticipate its movements well enough that you still managed to score a hit on it. You do notice that the Gorehound is very agile, and your hit almost wasn't.

Gorehounds 2 and 3 both take a running leap trying to get over the flames and manage to evade the worst of the potential damage, but they land in the sticky mess of the Sidekick's goo and it slows them down as they pull loose. They are going to be able to attack in melee range on their next action.

Psychie Psychie is up with attack #2 for Toni and her Sidekick.

This shot from Toni and her Sidekick Rifle both manage to score a hit on the person in their Host Armor, causing serious damage to add up on it.

Next, the huge Gorehound lunges at Chaska, trying to catch him in a deadly bite. It will hit unless you dodge or parry successfully.

Chaska asks Toni over the Bio-Comms, his tone is not tense, but ready for more; not worried, but prepared for whatever answer she may give. "Toni. Much boom-pow on your end. How you?"

Chaska in his flame-licked WyldKat is off the ground and in the air thanks to his Wing Pack. If this new kind of hound can reach that high, then Chaska is happy to make the hound work for it! Chaska had not challenged the hounds with his shout of "Apollo Zanbato!" as these did not seem to be the kinds of opponents who might understand, but he of all people knew the animal world and how often human beings dismissed the actions of animals as simply "sub-human" and "beneath us."

To Chaska, it was not the animal world that was beneath the human world, but the human world that was beneath the universe of animals. Did animals create the Machine? Augmented animals such as his beloved Woodstock and these Gorehounds were creatures to be respected and not for the roles humanity had them play, but for the beings they simply were. So much was easier when Chaska was left to his own ways with animals. Just show acts of respect!

Like now. Zanji Shinjinken Ryu taught him to have a "mind like to the moon," to perceive not what you wanted to perceive, but what was real. And the threat of these three most excellent ambassadors of the augmented animal world? Oh... it was most certainly real!

Using his Automatic Dodge along with the WyldKat's supremely-superhuman abilities, Chaska attempts to evade this alpha of Gorehounds without turning his back to the other two. To underestimate a foe was to become that foe's prey, but to give a foe your all? This too was an act of respect!

With a quick response, she says, "I got my bell rung hard, but my armor is holding. I'll give a holler if I need support!"

The Gorehound leaps into the air and opens its mouth wide, and surprisingly a blast of electricity comes shooting out and catches Chaska a bit off guard and you are singed for 40 MD of damage.

Purr Purr don't forget that you have our own action and that of your Sidekicks to use.
