Fantasy Soul Secrets

Smoke billowed from his nostrils while he exhaled it from his mouth. Resting his head against the wall immediately behind him, Cameron closed his eyes after readjusting Chantal's body so that she would be a bit more comfortable. When she woke up, she was in for a bit of a surprise. Despite the fact that the place they were in was completely abandoned and in horrible condition, she wasn't home. Cameron knew she wanted to be, but it wasn't an option. The others walked off, and Cameron let them. He'd catch up with Julie later, preferably alone so that they could discuss their options on a serious note. The entire time he was smoking it, he didn't use his hands to grasp his cigarette. When it was down to it's last few drags, he spit it out on the concrete floor alongside them and let it burn out. There was no reason to remove his grasp around Chantal, he didn't want to.

While he was sitting there, he pondered a couple of things. One, who was next to come looking for them? The government's SEP soldiers weren't doing their jobs efficiently. They were being bested by a couple of kids, and with Cameron's face undoubtedly home to various internet websites and media outlets, the government was probably only going to step their game up. Honestly, he welcomed it; he was willing to face anything the government threw at him, even if he was killed fighting, it was all worth it for freedom.

"What's in there?" Katarina asked, waiting outside with Ben and Valentina. She wondered what Valentina was rambling unconvincingly about. Katarina doesn't think Valentina would be this shook up by a spider.

After hours of being stuck in unconsciousness, Chantal stirred slightly against Cameron has her senses started to slowly return to her. She felt his body behind her, warm and reassuring, and her eyes opened. It took a while for them to adjust to the natural light then readjust to the dark. Still dazed, she looked around. Since when did my house become such a mess? she wondered to herself. Then it hit her. This wasn't her home, it was far from being her beautiful home. Dust upon dust, cobwebs scattered everywhere – this was somewhere she definitely didn't want to be.

Her mood saddened greatly. She was so close to being somewhere she could forget all of what has happened, so very close. She remembered being punched so severely as well, the side of her face constantly reminding her of it due to the pain it provided her. She brought a hand up to her face to try and help soothe the pain, looking around some more and noticed the other souls occupying the room as well, some of them acting scared.

Eyes averting downward, Chantal held back a sob and just allowed her body to go bit limp against the other pink souls body. The sob she tried to hold back eventually escaped her lips and soon, she was crying.

Travis was sitting down besides a wall with half lidded eyes. Even though it wasn't noticeable, he was exhausted all day. The only reason he held on was because his life was continuously in danger. Now, it was because of the mystery of one the rooms in the house. He couldn't help but feel uneasy with how much Tina tried to deny the others from entering the room, but his sleepiness was slowly taking over him. At last, he couldn't help but close his eyes, and then he promptly fell to his sides. He finally slept after his head dropped on his bag.

Lex sympathized with what Val was trying to do, hadn't they all seen too much already? Whatever is in there (and it was gnawing in the back of her mind) she decided it could wait til morning. Groaning, she got up from her little corner and walked over to the group of girls outside the door. "Whatever's in there, I think Val has a good reason for us not going in, we've all had a tough day, why don't we look for blankets or something and leave this door be until morning? Kat, will you help me look?" Lexi looked around her, might as well check the house out before heading to sleep.

"Yeah, of course!" Katarina said, checking around her before moving on to the next space she hasn't looked at. She was still very curious about that door and what was in it. Julie lingered in that room and she wanted to go in, but she didn't know whether or not she wanted to see it.

Checking every nook and cranny, Katarina finds a small blanket and a couple candles. "I'll check again, but here's all I found so far." She shows the objects to Lexi.

Lexi had been combing the cupboards for anything, food, medication, anything. She was greeted with dust upon dust, but there was some tinned foods, beans, canned fruit and peas. Smiling at her find, Lexi pulled her hoard out on the kitchen table taking note of what they have.

"Sweet! We can light some candles maybe, but it looks like everyone is pretty much asleep, I could just light up the place.. might draw some unwanted attention.."

Katarina laughs a bit. "Yeah, true. I'll go look for more supplies."

She departs with Lexi again to check again, as Katarina usually skims over things and always seems to miss something important. Retracing her steps, she finds a little locket. It's shaped in a heart and it's barely dusty, which means it was lost there recently. Upon opening it, she feels a vibration in her soul.

Katarina tries to regain her focus and sees that it's a picture of a girl. A small nine year old. Her eyes are a cyan color and they look like they're pleading. Katarina closes her eyes for a while, then checks again. Yep, she's nine years old and her eyes are definitely the bright color of cyan. But I thought you had to be sixteen to find out about your powers? The genetic mutation was first getting less rare, and now it's mutating again. The rules have bent, you might be any age and finding out you have powers. I hope this girl is okay. Katarina closes the locket.

She runs up to Lexi and hands her the locket. "Open it. Do you feel anything?"

Lex didn't know what she meant at first, how could she feel anything? Unless, they was a charge of some sort . Lexi slowly opened up the locket and saw a little girl with stunning cyan eyes. "How could this be possible? She can't be over ten years old! This-our genetic mutation, its becoming more popular isn't it?"

Lexi tightly clenched her fist over the locket. She felt it. She felt a pounding in her chest at the close contact with the locket, it was like a shock wave into her chest. Lexi raised wide sad eyes to Kat. "What do you think is going on?"

"I-I don't know yet," Katarina awkwardly shifted her balance to lean on her left leg. "But whatever it is, it cannot be good. The more of us, the more security. This world is turning into a wreck. Next thing you know, this might become a full out apocalyptic thing, killing off all of the regular humans, having us left to survive. We would have to hide in the broken buildings, trying to scavenge all the food we could get, without being killed by other groups of people in the process."

She noticed that she was rambling on a bit too much and shut her mouth, even though there were more she had to say. This locket right there in Lexi's hand had given her a surge of energy. She pictures the girl again in her mind.

"When the others feel up to it, I just feel like we have to find this girl."

"C-can I see the locket please." This were the first words she had spoken since she had curled up on the floor.

At the mention of an apocalyptic world Lexi threw her hand over Kat's mouth. "Yes i agree about the girl but for the love of our sanity, lets not discuss the likely hood of an apocalyptic zombie like world just yet! Lets get therapy for this adventure out of the way first!" Lexi chuckled, or at least she tried to. She passed the locket down to Val.

Katarina giggled a bit then pried Lexi's hand off of her face. She looks down at Valentina, that now has the locket. "Do you feel it too? The surge of sudden energy that this locket gives? I really think that we should find this girl. I don't know why, though."

Katarina felt very serious all of a sudden. Something about that locket just connects to all of the souls, yet she can't get her hands on why. That's why she wants to meet the girl. Maybe the girl could tell them valuable information, information that they needed to survive. Katarina didn't like how her life would be like; always on the run. She may not like it, but she might just have to get used to it.

She stared at the girl's picture before starting to cry. This girl was one of the bodies in the bedroom. Valentina wonder what happen to her and if they'd stay the same would happen to them. She clutched the locket hard before throwing across the room.

Startled by Valentina's sudden movement, Katarina paused. "Hey, what is it Tina?" She tried to sound as gentle as possible, through her stunned state. Does she have a connection with this girl? Or was this girl... In that room that they were exploring earlier?

Katarina clasped one hand over her mouth. She needed to meet that girl, but she wasn't... Available to meet anymore. Katarina felt a connection with the locket, but she still needed an explanation for it.

Lex looked at Val slack jawed for a moment until she reached out and drew the distraught girl into a hug. "Darling hush, please, just tell us, we can deal with this ok?" She leaned back just enough to allow some room so she could wipe away Val's tears.

"I'm fine j-j-just tired I guess." She wasn't really tired to scared to go to sleep really but they didn't need to know that.

"No, you are not. There is no point hiding that, yeah none of us are fine, but you are hiding something that has effected you." She spoke gently but firmly keeping a strong hold on the other Yellow's arm.

"Valentina, it's alright. You can tell us the truth." Katarina said to the upset girl. She was still surprised by the action, she didn't understand what happened right there, entirely. Her brain ran through scenarios which were mostly bad, and logically set on the scenario that the girl was in that room. Valentina was especially very shaky after entering that room.

"N-no I'm fine." Her voice was stronger now but she still couldn't stop shaking. "Does this place feel at all wrong to you guys, just even a little."

Lexi retrieved one of the blankets Kat found and put it around the shoulders of the shaking girl. "This place does feel wrong, we seem to be in a ghost town."

"Yeah, it does feel wrong." She says as she walks over to the thrown locket and puts it in her pocket.

Katarina is still curious about the locket. That locket. She doesn't understand why the locket of the little girl means so much to her right now, but she intends to find out. After some thinking, she looks at the locket.

"She wouldn't have a locket containing a picture of herself," Katarina mumbled to herself. "So it must've belonged to another person!"

Hopefully, that person was alive and ready to talk to. She didn't know for sure if this was the right thing to do, but she was determined to find whoever it belonged to as they travelled on, running from the government.

Ben listened from her crouched spot, shivering lightlly but making no move.. "they are gone. Arent tthey? Dead?" She asked in surprisingly calm voice. She rested her head on her arms and continued to stare blankly. "..its not gonna go away.. you can just shoot it til it does."

Lexi stood there. She looked at Val, covered but shaking still after her outburst. Then at Ben, who seems to slowly be losing it. "What the frick frack is happening to us?" She muttered mostly to herself. She never had much patience, so she suddenly charged towards that damn door and flung it open.

Katarina cautiously moved towards Ben. "A-Are you alright?" She cooed, feeling suddenly nervous of Ben's actions. She's acting oddly, speaking with a blank expression and a stare that would make you terribly uncomfortable if you looked at it for too long.

Suddenly, Lexi burst inside of the room that everyone referred to in a scared tone. Katarina quickly followed close behind her, scared of what lies behind the door, but very curious as everyone around them was acting crazy since this cursed door came into our lives. Or maybe, it's just that they were already very shook up from the past couple days and it took this small thing to finally break them.
