Wow, this is getting good.

I swear you reverse engineered my post. It looks good. I'll only take another peek at Elijah, but so far so good.

Haha. Very interesting. So JinX will be the veteran here stalking around?

I wasn't really sure how to show what skills were used during combat without having Elijah yell out techniques like an anime protagonist, so made a short list near the bottom of the post.

Technical question. Say, if someone rolls against you, and you decide to respond with a skill that causes a negative effect, but not directly offensive (Stauna shades, Dress for Less, Finesse, Shut up, etc) do you lose your roll given they count as "attacks" or does it follow the 'you can always roll if someone rolls against you rule'? Similarly, given Starlight Snipe causes a negative effect in preventing its target from rolling against you, do you lose your roll if you decide to use it offensively? =/

Sounds good, Sonata can try to emulate a couple of her favorite movie scenes now.

True, but in character part of what drives Sonata, and the reason she's asbold as she is, more or less, is because in the real world she's alreadyfaved certain death and it worked out. Shes still no hero, and kind of jumpy around monsters, butsheknows its not permenant here. I'll throw a post together sometime today.

Prince is both bold and mental so it's a challenge deciding what he'd do at times.

If/when you decide to post, I think its better for Sonata to attempt to walk quietly (roll) then chat if/when it fails. Not doing so feels akin to self sabatoge...but it's really up you how she does this. Movies are entertaining as well

Ever seen a movie called 'The Losers'

Okay, yeah, I was looking at that. You can embellish how these things happen and put the skill in parentheses right next to the description. That's how I plan to do it for characters I control when I don't specifically point out what they're using.

Sorry for the late reply. The thing is when someone rolls against you, you have to give a roll in response. This is why Dullahan's situation was acceptable. Instead of rolling, he straight up took the damage. Why do you have to roll in response? Because even though you are being attacked, it's not your turn. That's why you can't reply with a skill unless the skill specifically says you can. And to my knowledge, there are no skills like that right now.

^ This is why at a subtle level, it's important who goes first. Someone can force you into a roll if they attack you. This is why getting the pet skill quick attack makes sense. You may be outmatched skill-wise in some instances, but if you attack first, you might be able to win or do some damage before the opponent can use a skill on their turn.

Moves like Starlight Snipe work if it is your turn, but when you are responding to someone's roll, it can't be used, because it's technically not your turn. I hope that made it clearer.

Maxwell has a dodge that works as a response, right?

TS: GH of the PwnStars, lets you dodge if you go second, then roll for dmg. Like a counter move.

SlipStream of the Trojans says if you are about to take dmg, turn it into heals instead.

^given their operations, don't they count as responses? Granted it'd be on your turn going second...but if you get targeted by multiple rolls, with you going last, can't you spam TS:GH provided you have the PP for it? At least that's how I understood it=/

My main question though is, if it's your turn going first, and you decide to use a skill that's not directly offensive but causes a negative effect (shut up for example), can you still attack the target with a roll?

TS: GH and Slipstream would work as responses because they are designed to be. They say exactly what should happen. TS: GH lets you dodge the roll and counterattack. If you have the PP for it, it can happen as many times as needed because it takes effect whenever you are attacked first. Slipstream works the same way. You will still roll in response, but if you take damage, Slipstream can activate to reverse it.

To your main question, no. That would make classes more unequal than I'd like. Like that very combination of #ShutUp and then rolling to attack? That is nuts. Way too OP and unfair to classes that don't have "debuff" skills.

Lol, not if they've got the stats to not be afraid .

Takes away a bit of the solo offensive capabilities I imagined possible of classes using debuff skills, but I'm fine with it. All the classes are nuts with their skills. Even while spazzing out the out the skills of other classes, I'm not sure I'd call the Social Media OP with a roll...though maybe I'm underestimating the possibilities =p

Regardless, I think I've a better understanding of how battles & skills work now thanks.

On another note, do you intend to give Celeste a Harvester or should I just rp her a new companion (when I get to it) and move them on? I didn't intend to add to your workload of replies with my npcs, given I know you've already got 3 areas to work on...the words just flowed themselves =/

White Masquerade White Masquerade I'm still a little confused about how combat works for pets. Do Phantoms choose whether they or their pet will attack?
Pets are actually another character. So in a battle, the pet would get their own space with their stats. They get a turn and all too. Pretty much the only difference is that when they die, they don't come back. On a side note, this is why I said Part 2 will show love to OS Phantoms (sorry for Part 1 :lennyslash:). I'll be expanding on how they work. Akin to Pokemon, Phantoms will be able to "carry" up to 6 monsters. They can summon (bring out) or unsummon (take out) which they want for their 6. This is important because pets die when they are killed. I can go over it in more detail later, but keep that in mind.

IMO debuff classes can still rock, they just need the money to do so. The social Media for example, if they get #Shutup level 3, the effect stays for 3 turns, and they can roll with it being active on their next chance. The poorer characters can't do this, but the richer characters can. I feel that is how it should be. You can be OP, but it will cost an arm and a leg.

Haha. It's cool. The main goal is for everyone to have fun- I'm just here to keep it civil, fair, and balanced. If you intend to make her a major character, I'll have to look at her CS and approve it and add the harvester myself. If she's more for color & background, I will allow her to just catch one out-of-scene. Just let me know which.
