Katanagatari is not part of the Monogatari series. NisiOisiN is just a jerk and likes to confuse people, probably. That said, Monogatari still has wicked action.

There's a better fight in Kizumono 3, but just the title is a spoiler so I can't post it. Katanagatari is pretty good from what I've heard, though I've only seen the first movie.

1st movie? It's split up by movies then?? I have to check this out e.e. KnK was the first anime movie split I watched and it goes down as #1 series for me. I am looking forward to this!

You don't, that's their win condition. You could maybe try and inflict enough damage in one turn to kill your opponent if Gyze is on the field, but that's difficult with 30k and probably a couple of cards in their hand for guard.

Now that the reboot is out, I'm just waiting on Gear Chronicle support - they have fun time-based abilities like this guy.​

For the sake of your understanding, Grade 4 cards and mechanics don't exist. The Reboot did away with that.
