Talk shit and make plans here

Smoke-Show Snackhouse is a restaurant on the island of Gitgud. Basically a BBQ place where you can cook the meat as you like or order it cooked "professionally" by the chef who has exquisite control of fire magic via his fox spirit.

Will admit that I was hoping a player would make a Daimyo or two. As it is now I have to make a and play suitable leaders for a island and rebellion lol.

Im thinking the two Daimyo of Gitguud will be
Tomoe Uzida, a woman chosen by the people to replace the previous Daimyo which was her late father.
And
Shakimaru Onoh, young man who took power after his father and older brothers were killed by Ricans soldiers. Such a devastating sacrifice moved the people of Gitguud, and once Onoh was old enough he was chosen to replace the Daimyo of Oguchi, thanks to the reputation and history of the Shahkimaru clan. Onoh took over at age 18 and since that moment helped build the the Jiyûnoha.

Yahno and a few others have been making it happen unknowingly for ten years or so. Hatred for the shogun and Famrica allowing slavery and worse into Shimanari. But as a proper rebellion with a goal of quietly liberating territory by territory until they have the numbers to take back Shimanari...

I'd say two years. In that two years most of Gitguud has joined the cause and they have a handful of foriegn contacts, Aiding the Jiyûnoha for gold/goods

Nothing serious but dealing with some irl issues atm and I may not be as online as much as usual, im not ignoring anyone.

Guess this is a reminder that I want this to start and a excuse if I don't address anything asap

No problem, real life comes first!

Its coming together assuming we all still have the bare minimum of hype required to play.

I shall hopefully have this started soon.

Erm... Fancy seeing you here.

About having a guardian spirit, is it mandatory? You wrote that people of Shimanari are born with a guardian spirit, but you also wrote spirits can be found in the wild and turned into guardians through rituals. This made me realize, while writing my Kariudo sheet, that I want my character to have no spirit, at least in the beginning, and then gain a spirit later through ritual. Is it unheard of for a person to have no spirit from birth?
* Also, people are likely avoiding the Daimyo role because it's "too much responsibility." I know I didn't even bother to read it because I thought "too much power/influence." Irrational aversion to godmoding maybe? I could make another daimyo character if you need it, but that would require a pretty deep knowledge of the lore and plans for the plot if I'm going to avoid stepping on any toes.

All Nari people are born with a guardian spirit, if you wanted to start without one you would need to be a different sort of human. For simplicity I'll call the different sorts of humans races,

Nari people are unique in the sense they cannot use magic without a spirit.

A Rican for example is born with a mana type at random. Could be a fire bender, could be a mind bender...

The Thama can use all magic but its performed by reciting Songs and Whispers in ancient elven/Thamet languages.

I'd prefer everyone follow the sheet but a foriegner reaching Gitgud and being sympathetic to the Jiyûnoha cause isn't impossible.

If you don't want a spirit that can work, but if you wanted no magic then that requires a reason beyond being born without it as that doesn't happen in this world. Everyone has something. Some better than others... but every sentient being is capable of some sort of magic.

As for the Daimyo role, I sorta assumed that but figured any who want to would ask for more info. Which I would provide and let them expand on it in pm. It would be a bit like applying for co GM as I'd be sharing information their character should know aha

I was already making a Kariudo character, but now I'm also making a Daimyo character. I've never done "doubles" or whatever before, let alone GM or even co-GM so I'm probably gonna have to wait until they're both complete and submitted before I decide which to play, depending on which one needs more work to be wrangled into an acceptable state.

Including myself, how many players have yet to submit a character or first post?

I more meant that a Daimyo character would or should know more than say a common samurai. So I would fill the player in ooc with any relevant information so they can act accordingly as the character would.

A few people have posted sheets and the rp hasn't started yet

I'm fairly deep into my character(s) creation at this point, and I just realized that I never asked if there's a limit to how many main characters one player can control. I was planning to play a trio—an Obashiki (younger sibling), a Kariudo (elder sibling), and a Daimyo who is unrelated to the siblings. I could play any of the three characters alone, but each one's premise, biography, and even personality heavily relies on the other two existing at the same time in the same settings. I would have to significantly overhaul whichever character, pretty much rewriting the entire premise of who they are and why they are involved.

Is there a limit? I know each of these roles is finite, which is why I had an "Oh, shit." knee-jerk reaction and kinda maybe deleted them all by accident? I also know each character will undergo an individual evaluation for balance and lore, but these three are co-dependent in why they are where they are.

We have a Obashiki so I'd suggest making two other characters.

There wasn't any limit to players and characters but if people wanted multiple id put the cut at 2 per person
