Slippery Scales of Decipet

Emma scowled and folded her arms. Of course that's why he was here, to fulfill that stupid tradition of killing off a monster before they could be considered men. This guy obviously wasn't the killing type, though, from what she'd gathered so far "And you simply went along with this, without any preparation or argument at all?"

He looked down and nodded, "I-I don't like to kill anything. I-I planned on getting a snake or something, killing it and hopefully... making it look like a beast and giving it to them. I heard you and thought you were... much smaller."

Emma nodded. She was starting to feel pity for this guy "I see. And I turned out to be a Lamia, being much bigger than a regular snake. Well, this is a fine mess you've gotten yourself into." She said. She wondered if, because his father told him not to come back if he didn't slay a monster, they would bother sending out anyone to find him. Knowing his combat ability and such, they'd probably assume he either chickened out and didn't kill anything, or was killed by the monster that found him.

He looked around and wasn't sure what to do at the moment. He gulped a little bit in fear, shivering and slowly standing up, "I-I can... if you let me go then I'll just go somewhere else, I swear, I swear on everything I can that I won't ever tell anyone!"

"Okay..." Emma started, leaning her upper body forward onto her tail "Let's say I do let you go. You have three different ways this could go down. You could get found by a Slime or Spider and get murdered, like previously stated. You could return home empty-handed and probably get executed for your cowardice. Or you could succeed in killing a snake or something and returning to your home, and maybe you could trick them into thinking it was a real monster you killed, but I highly doubt the Humans are dumb enough to believe something like that."

He looked away and thought about each of the word she said, then he sighed in acceptance. He groaned a little bit and put his head in his hands, "What am I giong to do anymore?!" He grunted and held back tears. This was possibly the worst day of his entire life, and he realized that he wasn't even near the end.

Now Emma felt really sorry for this guy. Forced into going into the monster-infested forest alone with barely any combat experience, to kill a monster that could snap him in two without much of a thought, and now he was stuck here with a Lamia that was planning to eat him at her next opportunity. She completely understood his feelings at this point, and decided to offer him a deal "Tell you what. There are plenty of other meals in the forest I could eat. And certainly ones that are more appetizing. So, here's my offer: You stay here, with me, for two weeks. I'll provide you with whatever food or water you need. In exchange, you're not to leave this forest until the two weeks are up. At that point, if you can defeat a Slime patrol - Typically two or three Slimes - without any help from me, you'll be free to go, and you can take a sample of the Slime to show your father to prove your feat. Okay?" She told him. She wasn't 100% sure why she was offering him this deal, but she believed it was mostly driven by pity. That, and she wanted to see if this worthless excuse for a Human could actually learn some competence.

Blinkign a little bit, he looked up and cocked his head a little bit. He nodded, "I-I woudln't mind... that actually is a really good offer. I accept, if you'll let me." he began to perk up, smiling now when he realized he wasn't going to be killed or murdered by her.

"Alright, then it's a deal." Emma replied, sitting up straight "Of course, I'll be with you, making sure you don't run off or anything. But I'm sure it won't be necessary, since you should know how bad things will be for you should I find that you've run."

He nodded and looked at her, blining a little bit. He wasn't sure exactly how to do anything in this place, so he decided to sit down and just decided to do whatever she wanted. He looked down and traced some words on the floor.

((My idea was she gets really bored so she starts teasing him))

Emma wasn't sure what he was doing. She expected him to start training immediately, to prepare for his test. When she saw that he was writing in the dust on the floor, she giggled "You're certainly in no rush, are you?" She teased him "Or do you just like the cave of a Lamia? Either one is fine, of course."

He blinked rapidly and looked up, blushing a little bit. He gulped a little bit, "I-I... I just... I like to write... I-I know not many people can s-so I like to write... okay... never more..." He shivered.

"Hey, you're good. You spend your time here however you like." Emma told him "Write to your heart's content, if that's how you want to spend your time. Just remember that you still only have two weeks. And at the end of those two weeks, you're fighting a Slime patrol, whether you're ready for them or not."

He blinked and stared at her, stnading up, "Are you willign to teach me though?" HJe blushed heavily and looked around, "I really don't see anything here to help me so... am I going ot just hack at trees?" She asked, blinking.

"Hmm, fair point. Very well, let me know when you're ready, and I'll teach you how to at least kill something on your own." Emma replied, uncoiling her tail. She didn't know why she didn't catch this fault before, but he pointed it out, and now she knew about it. So it worked out anyway.

Smiling a little bit, Aaron got up and walked over to her, smiling still as he realized he wasn't going to die. He yawned a little bit, then steeled himself. He looked extremly cute and weird, his back straight and ready. He spoke quickly, "Tell me exactly what you need me to do!"

Emma grinned at his apparently newfound determination "First, let's see your swordsmanship. We need a base to see exactly what has to be improved, after all." She said, uncoiling her tail and tossing the stick she still had in her hand to him "We don't have any swords, so the stick you found during our encounter will have to do. Go on, don't hold back. Show me what you can do."

He stepped back, getting into his fighting poise. He was unbalanced, but he was at least in a good stance. He ran at her and swung at her, unable to gauge it. He gulped nervously as he realized that it was no where near her. He yelped and hit her appendage, though it was very, very weak and she barely felt it. He looked up, "Like that?"

Emma put her hand to her chin and thought for a moment. This was going to be more difficult than she thought "That was okay, I suppose. I think the main thing you need to work on is your balance and strength. If you're unbalanced, you can be knocked down easily. And, of course, if you don't have strength, you can't do much damage in the first place. I'm impressed by how well you placed your stance, however." She told him, running through the things she thought during that move.

He blinked a little bit, blushing heavily and smiling, "Thank you for that." He backed up and got back into his stance, holding the stick and awaiting for her to show him something. He never had much strength training, and the majority of it was simply moving barrels.

"Seeing how we don't have any of the standard strength-building items the other Humans use, we're going to have to improvise with something else. Luckily, we're not looking to get you completely buffed up, just give you a little boost so every hit you make isn't a tickle." Emma said, slithering up to him "So we're going to start off basic. Hold the stick horizontally with both hands." She told him, grabbing on to the stick with both of her hands as well once that was done "Now, I want you to try and push me back. I'm not expecting you to succeed off the bat, but as we work on different exercises over time, you'll find it easier, I'm sure."

((Do you wish to continue with this? It's your decision!))

Gulping a little bit, Aaron held the stick as he was told and leaned in, beginning to push against her. He leaned heaviliy onto his front foot for leverage, without being succesful. She barely felt like he was moving her i nthe slightest.

(We can skip through the training segments, if you like. I'm not entirely sure of everything Emma was going to have him do to improve anyway xD )

(Alright, let's skip ahead a little bit, then.)

Emma and Aaron returned to the cave, after gathering food for them. Setting their catch (And harvest, for Aaron - There are fruits that grow in the trees) on the rock floor, Emma coiled up next to them "Well, I think today was pretty successful. How about you?"
