Your character is pretty interesting, too. She seems like a very independent, self-assured sort, and I like the idea of her learning to compensate for her narcolepsy. Were you inspired by how Zenitsu fights while asleep?

Nope although as the rp began I realized it kinda was like him. I wanted to give her some type of nerf because Jay is a perfectionist when it comes to learning moves. She either gives it 100% for a new move or adjusts it to her wavelength. I was thinking more of Shikamaru from Naruto. She doesn't have a true motive but I'm hoping her team will inspire her to peservere to actually try be a Demon Slayer. I also wanted the idea that although she is skilled her body tends to go against her and make her pass out. That isn't to say she will be like Zenitsu and wake up and suddenly be a master. She is still is capable of being hurt until she can manage her Narcolepsy better.

Even in cases where the disability itself conveys some advantage, I prefer that there be significant drawbacks as well because it heightens the drama and forces the character (and the writer) to be creative. What's Jay's attitude toward her narcolepsy? Is she ashamed of it, or more resigned?

Sometimes she's fine with it when she's not on the battle field but most times she struggles not to feel exhausted. It helps her recooperate her energy
