Asher felt bad as he felt the general mood of the night shit knowing he was responsible though nobody was particularly emotional. There was a very clear shift in was to be a fun night watching a hockey game, now it was feelings and emotions, digging up the past and general uncomfortableness. Asher continued fidgeting with his arms now unable to get anything out of his mind. He couldn’t understand what was going on with him ever since this morning it’s almost like Asher was a completely different person all the feelings and emotions that he never allowed to bother him were suddenly at the front of his mind and for whatever reason he just kept letting them spill out to Jack. All the things he thought he had such good control of just letting loose the more time he spent with his new friend. To say it was odd would be an understatement.

“I’m sorry I...I shouldn’t have brought any of that up I... I completely ruined the mood this was supposed to be fun.” Asher said as he turned back towards the Tv folding and tucking his arms in tight to his body with a very insecure posture. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU DUDE !!! YOUR SCREWING THIS WHOLE NIGHT!! WHY DO YOU BREAK EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH!! for the first time in a long time Asher just felt insecure, self conscious about more that just his looks. His mind screaming at him repeatedly as he settled in planning to just quietly watch the rest of the game. The fear of making things even worse keeping him from opening his mouth.

Jack shifted his weight around on the couch awkwardly for a moment. The boy was certainly not expecting the night to take such an emotional turn. All he thought was in store was just watching a simple NHL hockey game on the TV with his new friend, but now they were getting deep into their feelings, something Jack did not tend to do at all. He gulped nervously as the boy next to him fidgeted with his arms a bit.

Jack turned his head to the side and looked at Asher as he apologized. He could tell the kid didn't mean to get all deep into their feelings, and that maybe even the kid felt that he had overshared with Jack. He gulped a little again before speaking, "Uhh l- look, it's fine alright..." he said softly to let the young teen boy next to him that he wasn't too worked up about the whole ordeal and that he wasn't mad. Jack shrugged his shoulders, "Don't worry about it," he added softly. He then looked back to the TV, hoping that intermission would end soon so that they could get back to watching the hockey game. Jack wondered in the back of his mind if he had overshared to Asher and opened up and let out a bit too much about himself to the boy. Jack bottled his emotions, he wasn't supposed to tell anyone how he felt, he was a lone wolf after all! He just shook his head and waited for the second period of play to start back up again.

Nathan chuckled a bit as Felix complained that he had cheated and maybe that was true but he was proud of his victory none the less. After both boys had recovered it was time for Nathan to get back on his feet or more accurately his skates. He was a little wobbly at first having to remind himself of what he had learned so far.

Nathan steadied his legs bent his knees a bit and got himself back on. Track standing relatively steady for how knew he was. Nathan then Carefully took in Felix’s instructions feeling quite nervous about the Idea of moving on his own. Taking a deep breath Nathan attempted moving for the first time sliding his right foot forward a bit, he quickly felt off balance like he was going to fall but he used Felix to brace himself as he regained his balance. Felix then trying to explain again what to do. After many attempts and almost falling nearly a dozen times Nathan began to figure out how to move his feet without completely loosing his footing. Sure it was just a slow awkward shuffle not at all like actual skating but he was moving on his own with just a little support from his friend.

A smile started small slowly growing bigger and bigger as Nathan actually started making progress across the parking lot the slowly setting sun beginning to allow the light up wheels to really shine lighting up the ground beneath his feet a bit as he went. It was clear by his face that Nathan was starting to truly enjoy this and while he was still pretty nervous looking at the boy it was impossible to tell. As they reached the other side of the parking lot many minutes later Nathan threw his hand up in victory of course causing him to completely throw his balance off luckily his impending fall was quickly halted as Felix caught him and helped hi regain hi balance. Nathan just smiling and laughing the whole time completely beside himself with enjoyment. Not even processing the fact that Felix wouldn’t Nathan quickly signed. “thank you this is so much fun”

Asher gave a simple nod in response to Jack afraid of what might come out of his mouth if he opened it to respond. For the first time in a long time Asher was just quiet he had nothing to say or at least nothing he wanted to say. Asher instead just sat watching the Tv as the intermission ended and the second period of the game began. Asher was paying attention as best as he could but he was both exhausted from the long emotional day and caught up in his own thought's. Causing him to only catch small bits of the game as it progressed. why? why is all of this coming back? why am I so emotional today? Why can't I just be Better? these were just a few of the thoughts racing through Asher's head as he sat on the couch in him own world keeping his entire body close and tense. He couldn't understand what was happening to him, why he was feeling all of the things he was today but slowly everything seemed to fade away into general numbness as his eyes slowly got heavier and heavier until he dozed off.

But once Asher was completely in his own head as he slept all his thoughts simply got louder as he began to dream unpleasant dreams. He rolled over once than again and again drawing attention to his very unpeaceful slumber. He began to sweat and quietly mutter to himself the words unperceivable his shifting seeming to become more rapid until his eyes shot open. " MOM I SAID I DON"T WANT TO PLEASE NO!!" he shouted as he jolted awake. His breathing was fast and shallow sweat still falling from his brow his eyes darting around the room like he didn't know where he was.

It was almost infectious, the smiles and excitement of Nathan as he began to make progress reigniting the tired Felix's tired grin. Nathan's initial crossing was not fast, not skilled, note even very effective with him spending at least two minutes stuck in the same spot rolling backwards as much as forwards - but to be honest Felix was still super proud and excited with it anyway. Nathan genuinely seemed to be really enjoying it, all the nerves and fear seemingly having left his friend and replaced with just that same joy Felix felt whenever he was on his wheels. Yeah there were falls, yeah there were bumps, but all that was the price to learn and practice the sport.

Honestly Nathan was doing really great, especially given that he was using Felix's skates (which were heavier and customised for an intermediate to advance aggressive skater, not a lightweight beginner recreational pair), Felix didn't have a chance to check take apart and adjust the sizing bolts for Nathan, he really didn't seem like a sporty kid to begin with, and just Nate's initial fear when he even discussed the topic at breakfast like ten hours ago. So once Nathan completed that initial lap Felix was just as excited if not even more than Nathan also celebrating with a pair of fist pumps to himself and offering his friend a high five; before immediately needing to catch his friend and stop him faceplanting. Felix joining in laughter with his friend over this as well.

He kind of just stared as Nathan starting making motions trying to sign to him a message. He obviously didn't understand it - yet he kinda did just going by how happy Nathan looked, or he hoped he understood the general meaning at least and this wasn't a urgent signal from Nate that "I needed the bathroom, please get the skates off me" or something. Felix just smiling and patting his friend gently on the back. "Told you it'd be fun! Oh and one sec." Felix pulling out his phone and deciding to go into selfie mode with it, panning the camera so both Felix himself was partly in frame with a goofy face, tongue stuck out but over his shoulder you could see Nate in the photo all in full gear - snapping the photo as soon as Nathan posed or otherwise smiled.
Felix showing the slightly sunset-lit photo to Nathan immediately afterwards. Nate able to see himself fully kitted - and even if he might not be the most comfortable in it yet he looked the part. Plus had Felix's thunderbolts on the helmet, the neon yellow edging stickers on the knees and elbow pads, the bright-yellow laces all gently glowing against the dimming light of evening. To Nate's keen photographers eye that'd probably look even more awesome as the light continued to dim, and maybe he started rolling to the skates lit up as well.

"What you think skater boy Looking pretty-like cool huh..?" Felix commented half-jokingly as he showed the phone to Nate. Honestly Felix really did think Nate was super cool looking right now even though it was his own gear - he didn't really get it but he looked cute kitted-up in his stuff and soo excited. Felix unconsciously blushing a tiny bit at that thought but the dimming light hid most evidence on that. The fact Nathan pushed past his fear like this was amazing, Felix might'a actually found a skating bud here!

After letting Nathan see the photo and respond Felix would move around Nathan back in the direction he just came across the parking lot with a grin as he hold a single arm out, still giving some support for the moment. "We still got time before it gets too late. Lets do another lap!" Felix felt they were having way too much fun to stop now - so he wanted to push on attempting to upgrade that shuffle into a bit of a bit of a sketchy-stumblish roll closer to actual skating or atleast walking. "Here, if you want - start in a T-stop and then push with your back leg like you see a kid on a skateboard. You should be able to-like use it as a push-off and get a little speed even at the start.." Felix expanding on, teaching and blending the lessons from today - trying to teach see if Nathan might be able to push himself off from a braked start.

The two young teen boys sat in the first long period of silence as the first intermission came to an end and the second period of play was about to be underway. Eventually the puck dropped and the second period started. Jack tried to push any of his earlier thoughts and emotions and to focus on the game on the TV. He kept his eyes locked on the screen and thoughts strictly game related. After a while of watching in silence, he essentially forgot that Asher was right there next to him and he continued to watch the game as if he were alone, like usual. The game went by and was mostly uneventful for the first half of the second period. However, towards the second half of the second period, The opposing team had scored a goal on the Sharks. Jack sighed frustratedly and put his arms out in front of him in disbelief. He slumped back on the couch and continued to watch the rest of the period.

Towards the end of the second period, Jack began to notice some odd movement to the side of him. He then quickly glanced over to his side suddenly remembering that Asher was there and watching the game with him. But his movements seemed odd and uncomfortable, and it looked as if he was thrashing about in his sleep. The boy was rolling over and making other concerning uncomfortable movements. While a bit weirded and slightly creeped out, Jack just assumed the boy had fallen asleep due to understandable disinterest in the hockey game and was now having a bad dream. Jack returned his gaze to the television just as the last few minutes of the second period of play were winding down and coming to an end. Eventually the buzzer rang and the second period came to an end with the San Jose Sharks down 1-2 to the visiting opponent. Jack sighed as the screen cut to commercial break in preparation for the soon to be second intermission report. But just as he sat back and relaxed a bit, he was startled as he jolted upwards and quickly looked to his side as he heard Asher suddenly scream something that made no sense to him. Jack's eyes widened in fear and confusion as he looked at Asher like he had three heads. Jack paused there in shock and confusion, not knowing whether he should say something or just leave it alone. He just stayed silent as he raised one eyebrow over the other in pure confusion. "What in the world was that all about?" the boy wondered to himself in his head.

Nathan cocked his head in confusion as Felix seemed to respond flawlessly to what he had signed. “ you understand me?” he signed slowly trying to work out whether the boy actually knew what he said or just took a shot in the dark. Nathan figured it was impressive either way. as he then noticed Felix pull out his phone for a selfie Nathan elected to keep his head cocked as he let his tongue hang out the side of his mouth and threw up a peace sign. making quite the goofy pose for the camera. Nathan then closely examining the photo he had to admit he did look pretty cool in all the gear even if it was just because he never imagined himself in a bunch of pads on skates. But Nathan quickly became more focused on the photo itself and how neat the lightly glowing stickers looked mixed with the fading evening light. Nathan knew he and Felix needed to do a photo shoot for Felix like this. Maybe tomorrow night? Nathan thought to himself as he requested the phone from Felix holing out his hand after obtaining the phone he quickly typed out his message. “yeah I guess I look pretty cool. but the lighting looks cooler!! we should get some photo’s of you skating around at night sometime it would look soooooooooo cool!” He smiled brightly as he shoved the phone back to Felix.

Nathan took Felix's hand as he stood in front of him preparing to make the next lap across the Parking lot. Nathan was determined to improve and actually do something reminiscent of true skating. First focusing on pushing off to get rolling rather than just shuffling. Spending several minutes on just trying to figure that out first after a few shaky attempts almost falling once or twice he seemed to have a somewhat okay understanding of how to push off. In the meantime realizing if he did essentially the same thing over and over again he would actually be skating. Of course thats just in theory and execution would prove to be a bit more difficult but as he again concentrated on his footwork his tongue made several more appearances sticking out of his mouth. He eventually made it back to the far side of the parking lot at a very shaky walking speed of course with many stops in between movement to stabilize readjust and just figure things out taking notes and cues from Felix the whole time. The sun really beginning to set allowing the wheels to light up the parking lot as they rolled Nathan Glowing due to the stickers plastered all around the gear.

This time as Nathan reached the other end there was no celebration no laughter. He was clearly still enjoying himself but he was focused only a hint of a smile on his face as he Immediately began turning around to head back to the house his legs beginning to feel a bit sore and weak but he knew he could make it back. Or at least he hoped he could now was time for him to put everything he had learned together taking a deep breath he let go of Felix’s hand looking at the boy with determination as he prepared to make his way back with Felix only on standby if something went wrong. He closed his eyes for a moment you got this he thought to himself as he opened his eyes and pushed off slowly rolling across the pavement as he felt his momentum slow he would push off again and again. It wasn’t completely smooth and he wobbled a bit here and there and only pushed off with his right foot. But he was doing it he was actually skating Felix walking backwards in front of him the whole time ready to stop a fall that never came as they reached the house without ever coming to a full stop. Nathan dragged his right foot behind him as he came to a stop right at the steps quickly leaning over and bracing himself as he sat down. His legs were on fire and were completely jelly he was tired and knew he couldn’t go on any further but he did it he skated.

His face lit up as he sat down removing most evidence of how tired he was. He grabbed his Ipad “Man that was.... well great honestly I thought i was going to hate it. But I had so much fun.... and I actually did it I really did it!! Thank you so much you are such a great teacher Felix!!”

Nathan's additional attempts at passing sign language to Felix turned up nothing but a slightly confused expression from the boy. Yeah Felix had no idea what he was saying that time - and his expression said as much. He had a lucky guess before based on his friend's expression, excited body language and just a little bit of Felix projecting himself and the feelings he had being in Nathan's shoes skates(?) back when he first tried skating back when he was half the size he was now. Honestly its one of the, if not the oldest memory Felix had - he's basically skated for his entire life as far as he could remember having been taught it by his Dad on a cheap plastic-pair long before he'd even started kindergarten. He remembered wobbling along and falling down a lot. He remembered his dad holding his hands as he taught himself to move, not really able to teach Felix but able to support him. He remembered the pure adrenaline and pride he felt as he managed to cross their driveway back home - and Felix was sure these emotions were what Nate had been experiencing now.

Nathan's bright-eyed look and amazement at seeing himself all in gear, and all lit up -and the general lighting just had Felix grinning wildly with pride. Though the suggestion of a night-time photoshoot did make Felix's own eyes light up as he fist pumped the air. "Seriously?! Yeah that'd be-like awesome! Been wanting to get some night-time shots of myself, like oh urm- what's it called. I know you can mess with the camera settings to make like, lights leave a trail? If you know what I mean..?" Felix referring to some expert photography shots he'd seen online where someone had used a combination of a tiny-touch of photo editing along with some long exposure shots to have a skater leaving trails across a scene.

But to say that Nathan had done amazingly here was a understatement - in the space of under two hours going from being afraid of even trying them on to being able to roll himself without holding onto someone across the parking lot was great - Felix's look as pride as he joined Nathan by flopping down on the steps was clear on his face. Yeah sure Nathan still had a long way to go before it wasn't going to be a sketchy, wobbly ride, plus for one needing to push off with either foot, and secondly figure out turning while still moving - but that didn't take away from how well he'd done.
"Nate you did awesome!" Felix exclaimed offering out a high-five. "And I know it's like super fun right? You even got a real glide going there at the end. Just gotta shake those nerves out. But like- you did it yourself. I just showed you what to do." Felix undervaluing his contribution here as obviously Nate would have never even been able to try them, let alone get up on his feet without Felix there - but at the same time his friend's determinism was just as important as the teaching was.
With both boys being pretty tired out now as the sunset began turning to twilight, Felix just content to sit there for the moment and chat a bit. "Oh-, like urm. Thanks a lot for like hanging out with me like this. Not like the skating, wait no. I mean like, not just the skating - it was like super-mega cool that you wanted me to teach you. -But like I was worried after the Jerkface that everyone here would be mean - and even before then I was worried about not finding any friends here. Like new school, my old friends like hundred miles away from here. But like at least now I got atleast one super cool bud already. -one who's-like a natural skater boy too!" Felix laughed a little at the end, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly while smiling joyfully. A torrent of conflicting but overall happy emotions; Felix slightly blushing again but now at just wearing his heart on his sleeve. After the fear and insecurity of having his life just torn apart over the last month, the toll it did on him - a friend to hang out with, especially one he could share interest in his passion with was something he really needed.

As Asher came to his senses and realized where he was and that he wasn’t in danger his breathing began to Level out and his eyes fell to focus on Jack seeing the confusion on the boys face. “Umm... sorry about that guess I dozed off a bit” he chuckled nervously scratching the back of his head not sure what to do or say next. He was sure he startled the boy and definitely left him confused about what the heck was going on. “ I suppose you wanna know what that was all about?” He forced a gentle smile as he looked t the teen.

Asher sighed loudly as he glanced over at the Tv seeing it was intermission time before the last period of the game. He rolled up his sleeves revealing the many scars the riddled his arms. “ You have until the next period starts to ask questions then I would appreciate if we don’t talk about it any further.” He Looked at Jack he didn’t really want to share the story but he figured he owed Jack some kind of explanation and decided to just let the boy ask questions so he only had to talk about whatever he asked rather than just going through the whole thing. Though it probably wouldn’t make a big difference this felt far more manageable to Asher

Jack just looked at him weirdly, realizing he probably shouldn't be looking at the boy like he had three heads. "I- it's fine, whatever..." Jack said softly as he looked down at the ground in front of him. However, his attention was recaptured when Asher offered to explain what that whole ordeal was all about.

Jack looked at the TV quickly to check about how much time it would be until the game started back up. Luckily for them, it seemed that intermission had just started and it would likely be another 15 minutes until the third period started back up again. The boy looked back at Asher again seeing him roll up his sleeves. His eyes couldn't help but widen as he saw the many scars on the boy's arms. His mouth opened in shock and awe. Jack just sat there for what seemed to him like an hour in silence. He soon realized he had been staring at the boy's scarred arms for a little bit too long without saying anything. He closed his eyes and shook his head once, averting his gaze from the boy's arms. "S- sorry," he said softly, looking down at his feet, apologizing for staring. His parents and various nannies had always told him that it was rude to stare when he was younger. "W- well, i- if you don't mind me asking.... w- what happened?" Jack asked nervously, not wanting to put the other boy in an uncomfortable situation.

Asher exhaled slowly preparing himself for the conversation. " Well I told you that you could ask. But I just want to warn you this is not a pretty story." He paused for a moment looking Jack in the eyes before turning his focus on his arms. He ran his fingers across a couple longer cut scars. " these... well these are from a like two years ago I... I got stupid and cut myself pretty badly a couple of times." His fingers then moving to glide over the much more prominent scars of which there were many the looked like pokes almost like a bee sting but if the stinger was many times bigger. A few of them looked like they had caused more damage than just a poke almost like something was stabbed in then yanked around a bit. Asher opened his mouth prepared to continue but then he just froze. It seemed like his mouth simply stopped working. Asher hadn't talked about this subject in a long time and for good reason. Most of the time when people say something about it or mentions the scars Asher just flips out once or twice even punching the kid that made the grave mistake of bringing it up. But Asher couldn't do that not this time he offered to answer questions so even if he didn't truly owe Jack before he certainly did now. Asher closed his eyes taking a couple deep breaths before before trying to speak again. It's okay you can do this. Everything will be fine. He thought trying to work up the courage he needed to speak.

"These... these are from needles... My umm mother use to force me to do drugs... Like hardcore stuff and these are all the results of me fighting her when she would try and stick me with needles. Or from using dirty needles after... after I got addicted I would just use whatever I could to well get my fix and was too young to understand like how dangerous a dirty needle is so they would get infected and not get treated so they scared up." Most of the scars appeared to be on his right arm only one or two on his left making them far less noticeable. Asher then points to a mark just above his wrist the goes all the way around his arm. "umm This one I think is from being zip tied or something to like a radiator I think I cant really remember that one." Asher chuckled a bit yes Actually chuckled catching even himself off guard. He had no clue why but talking about this didn't seem as hard as he thought it would or as it's been in the past. He actually didn't even care sure the things that happened sucked sure he hated his mother for it but for the first time it actually feels like all of that is the past the scars cant hurt him anymore. Surprising himself further Asher slipped off his Jacket and pulled his shirt over his head revealing some more scars. pointing to one right around his ribcage " This one is from surgery they had to like fix something with my ribs because something didn't hear right or something I don't really remember the specifics I was only eight. Umm the rest are mostly from my mom hitting me with things or throwing things at me. Or burning me with an iron." Even with Asher feeling rather confident in having this discussion he still couldn't help but begin to feel very self conscious about the way his body looked he knew he hated looking at it. As he sat there quiet for a few moments arms tucked across his chest clearly beginning to feel very uncomfortable. Asher didn't take his shirt off around people definitely not people he talked to for the first time that day and yet here he was shirtless next to Jack feeling uncomfortable for even more reasons once it clicked that it was Jack the boy he is crushing on that is now seeing him exposed like this.

"So... any other questions? Ask now or never who knows when ill be in a sharing mood again." he joked trying to lighten his own mood a bit.
coded by reveriee.

Jack looked at Asher with wide-eyed curiosity as he prepared to tell the story. He gulped nervously as Asher told him it wasn't a pretty story. He nodded his head to let the boy know it was ok to tell the story. Jack had never really had anyone open up to him like this and in this manner. He listened closely to every word the boy next to him said, as he looked at him, his attention more than captured.

Jack's eyes widened a bit more as his eyebrows curved in concern as Asher revealed that the scars were from cutting himself up pretty bad. Jack wanted to say something to let him know he felt bad for him, but decided not to interrupt the story, as it was obviously clear to Jack that it was a very hard one to tell. Jack then looked down at Asher's arms momentarily. He scanned them up and down, looking at all the different types of scars, some bigger and deeper than others. He looked back up at Asher's face as to not stare at his arms for too long and make the boy even more uncomfortable. And just when Jack had thought he had heard everything, Asher dropped another bombshell.

Jack's eyes were already widened in shock and surprise, but when Asher revealed to him that his mother had forced him to take hardcore drugs through a needle, his eyes widened even more. Jack had always gotten the impression that mothers were supposed to love their children, and this just seemed like the opposite. Although Jack's own mother was never really around much, he could tell that she loved him very much. He focused his thoughts back to Asher's story. As Asher casually talked about the abuse he took from his mother, even chuckling a bit as if it had not affect him, Jack gulped. "Jesus Christ!" Jack thought to himself in his head, "This is awful!" Jack was aware that the story was not going to be a pretty one, but the young boy who had lived a comfortable and sheltered life never thought that it was going to get like this. Jack had certainly never experienced anything like this before, since his own life was a comfortable life living in a well-off family, being mostly sheltered from the horrors of the real outside world. Jack's jaw dropped in surprise as Asher took off his shirt and revealed even more scars all across his abdomen and ribcage. Jack's eyes were wide in horror. "Wow," Jack said under his breath softly. He was speechless. He didn't know what to say, there was nothing he could say that would make any of that abuse ok or the affects from that abuse any less worse.

When Asher was finally done telling his story, Jack just sat there and stared at the now shirtless boy in silence, his eyes still wide and his mouth still slightly open from surprise. "N- no... no more questions from me..." Jack said softly. He paused for a moment before speaking again. "I- I'm so sorry Asher... that all this happened to you..." Jack said softly, closing his eyes and shaking his head slowly. Jack now understood why Asher had acted like such a jerk to him, and often lashed out around other kids. All the abuse from his mother certainly must have taken a significant mental toll on the boy, causing him to act out.

Nathan gladly accepted the offered high five just sorta laughing at Felix’s attempts to downplay his involvement in Nathan learning to skate. Clearly without Felix Nathan would have never even given skating a shot just getting him to try something like skating was a true feet of its own. But to also make the progress he had and make Nathan feel safe beyond that make him have fun doing it. That to Nathan was a true testament to Felix as not just a teacher but a friend. Nathan sorta leaned over nudging Felix with his shoulder as he mentioned Asher and how great full he was for Nathan hanging out with him followed by some sever blushing to go along with Felix’s at the skater boy comment.

“ Hey I would have never done any of that without you don’t sell yourself short. Besides I’m still not that good definitely need some more lessons. And yeah Asher can be a real jerk but he’s not always that bad sometimes he can be kinda nice. Evelyn says he’s just gone through a lot in his life and it makes him grumpy. But thats still no reason to treat people the way he does. But don’t worry about him we aren’t all like that and I was happy to hang out with you today I had so much fun! I really like hanging out with you and tomorrow at the beach is gonna be so fun!! Not looking forward to going back to school next week but at least now I’ll have one friend there just remind me to show you who all the Jerks are so you can stay away from them.”

As Nathan let the Ipad speak he suddenly felt a bit of a sting in his thigh rolling up his Shorts a bit to investigate he found a small abrasion and he was pretty sure he knew what fall had caused it as sweat was now seeping into the wound it stung and a small amount of blood began running from it again mixing with the dry blood that was already there. “Ow” he muttered quietly as he pulled out a disinfectant wipe from his pocket tearing open the package he gently wiped down the wound causing a few small winces as he did.

"Well if you want more lessons, your free to use 'em again, kay?" Felix grinned a little gently kicking the skates, yeah Nate did have quite some way to go before he could really be called a 'skater' in a skill capacity. Felix fully knew that next time he got on 'em he'll likely have forgotten half what he learnt today - muscle memory taking a while to build. Sharing his passion like this was fun though, and for some reason it was kinda cool seeing Nathan all geared up. Felix looking his friend, gently glowing up and down and smiling to himself for a little longer than normal before snapping out of it and shaking his head.
"Oh- and like- speaking of school, how old are you? Like I just turned twelve, so I'm going into seventh grade." He knew Nathan was probably a middleschooler too just like him, but he couldn't be sure if they were gonna be in the same grade or not. "Cus' you know- it'd be -like super cool if we ended up in the same class." Felix commented with a hopeful smile on his face, though his overall body language pretty much said the same as Nathan. He was not looking forward to school.

Felix watched as Nathan rolled up his shorts finding a small mark on his leg, his friend opening a packet of clean-wipes and starting to try and clean the wound. Felix double checking it as Nathan went but it was thankfully just a small scuff. As the blood was wiped away he could see a tiny bit of dirt, but Nathan was clearly cleaning that all up - he'd be fine. Felix unsure if his friend could tell what he was saying while he was busy cleaning the wound - he decided to quickly grab Nathan's Ipad and typed a message on the screen. "Got a battle wound huh? :xFtongue: Mark of a true skater, we all get scuffs and bruises when we try new tricks!!!" Felix holding the iPad down so Nathan could see it with a playful expression.

“Thanks... ya know whats crazy? I used to just think all that abuse was normal. Like I thought all kids went through that.” He said quietly reflecting on everything. Thinking how lucky he was that one teacher was concerned enough to make it their business to find out what was happening. Asher often considers what things might have been like if nobody said or did anything about his mother but that train of thought always leads to him assuming he probably would have died many years ago.

Asher began putting his Shirt back on as he continued speaking. “ well I hope that helps clear a few things up and gives you some in-site to who I am. I always make myself believe im over all of that stuff but really I’m not and I never talk about it so it’s not like I am getting any closer to being over it either. But I guess thats kinda why I’m just a jerk to people I think I just expect them to hurt me so I hurt them first try and i guess assert my dominance so they cant hurt me? Maybe? I don’t know. Mrs. Richardson tried making me go to therapy for a long time but I never talked about anything so she stoped forcing it.” Asher sat back on the couch zoning out as he looked back at the Tv a sorta sad but blank stare on his face as the third period was preparing to get underway.

Jack simply closed his eyes and shook his head in disgust and pity, feeling awful for Asher but not knowing the right things to say. What he had to go through was horrific, and no one deserved to be abused like that. Jack just frowned. He also question himself, "Why is he opening up and telling this all to me? I'm just some kid he barely knows?" While Jack wasn't annoyed nor put off by Asher's story, he wondered why he told HIM out of all people, because this story seemed like something Asher kept very much to himself and told no one about, not even therapists in confidence. He gulped nervously, "Man I- I'm sorry... I know there's nothing I could say to make this right... but I can promise you this: I won't bring this up ever or tell anyone." Jack looked Asher in the eyes, "You have my word." He tried to crack a smile as he leaned back on the couch and looked at the TV screen. It appeared that second intermission was nearly wrapping up and that the third period of play would be starting soon. Jack focused his thoughts back onto the hockey game. He hoped that the San Jose Sharks could make a come back from their 1 goal deficit and come back to win the game in the third period.

“I Trust you.” Was about all that Asher could muster in response to Jack as he tried to sort through his own thoughts. Honestly Asher was just as if not more confused as to why he opened up about all of this with Jack. Sure his feeling for the boy clearly played a role but there were plenty of things he shared today that he never even talked with Jordan about. Maybe Jack’s quiet but gentle nature had something to do with it? He couldn’t say but something about him, about today? Something had Asher opening up and beyond that Questioning so many things so many decisions in his life it was like a switch had been flipped within him and he had no clue where to begin to explain let alone comprehend it.

Realizing his thoughts would take a long...long time to sort through Asher decided to try and focus his mind on the now resumed hockey game. “Damn they are down by one how’d that happen?” He questioned aloud as he noticed the score as most of his focus had now shifted to the game. He opened a second can of soda as he polished off his first grabbing some beef jerky to go along with it. As he looked back up he saw both teams basically fighting for the puck near the opposing team’s goal when suddenly the puck emerged from the chaos and was handily slipped in at the corner of the goal. “YES” Asher cheered pumping his fist “now you just need one more Sharks!” He added.

Jack nodded silently as he hoped that Asher truly trusted him on his word. He went silent in his own thoughts until the hockey game came back on and he directed his attention towards the screen. Jack shrugged his shoulders, "Yea you missed it, they scored on us..." Jack still had a sour taste left in his mouth from the opposing team's goal last period, and hoped that the Sharks would kick it into full gear and try to make the comeback in the last period. But they needed two goals and to make sure the other team didn't score on them first to make sure this would happen.

Jack slumped back on the couch and dug his hand through the bowl of chips, which was beginning to become emptier and emptier each period since two boys had been eating from it for the past couple of hours. After a few minutes of relatively boring play, Jack's attention was quickly captured as he noticed an intense battle for the puck going on in the Sharks' offensive zone. He leaned forward as his eyes widened, a small open mouth smile forming in anticipation. Then it happened: "THEY SCORE!" shouted the Sharks' announcer as the crowd in the arena erupted in cheer and the Sharks' low pitched goal horn blared. Jack raised his hands in the air with joy as he shook his fists happily. "Yes!" Jack shouted quickly in somewhat of a loud whispering tone in his voice. He wasn't one for big celebrations, but certainly enjoyed when his team scored. Jack smiled and nodded at Asher, realizing that the comeback was entirely possible if the Sharks just scored one more goal. "Yea," Jack said, "our boys just gotta start shooting more pucks on net!" Jack stuffed another handful of chips into his mouth as he sat back on the couch and watched the TV screen again, ready for them to drop the puck at center ice and for play in the third period to continue.

Nathan could feel Felix's eyes studying him a bit as they sat on the steps. He had thought Felix had stared a bit earlier but now he was sure that Felix was at least a little. Nathan didn't think much of it other than it causing him to blush very lightly. " Oh I'm twelve too!! It would be awesome if we had the class." Nathan still wasn't ready for summer to end and go back to school but at least there was a silver lining... Felix would be there too. Nathan smiled thinking about the fun they could have at school together hopeful Felix wouldn't just drop him the minute he has a chance to make friends that can actually keep up with him.

Nathan was finishing cleaning up his very minor wound only really wincing due to the alcohol in the wipe causing a spike of pain each time. Nathan kept cleaning the wound until it barley hurt to touch it. Looking over seeing Felix hold his Ipad he quickly read the message before typing his own in return. " Yeah I guess I did obviously its not that bad if I didn't notice till now.:D Though cleaning cuts out now that hurts a bit. Also a bit surprised none of the blood seems to have gotten on my shorts so thats good!" he turned his attention back to the abrasion for a moment to verify he was satisfied with his cleaning before rolling his shorts back down. Given Nathan's nature people are constantly surprised when the boy who is scared of everything hardly bats an eye when he actually gets hurt. Even when he fractured his wrist almost two years ago sure it hurt but he was probably the calmest one in the room. Nathan doen't think its odd tho being hurt doesn't necessarily bother him any more than it bothers anyone else. He is just scared of situations that could get him hurt. But then again most people said that didn't make sense so maybe Nathans just crazy. "I can't imagine what my mom would say if she saw this. She would freak out! "

Felix was indeed a little surprised a how well Nate was taking the injury given his previous fear-, and also the fact he had disinfectant wipes in his pocket. To the former he mostly just assumed the adrenaline and fun of the day might have overwhelmed Nate's sense of fear and discomfort. To the later, huh. He wasn't really sure what to make of it, did Nate just happen to have them on him, was he really prepared, or maybe a neat freak. Again not that Felix really felt the need to make a big deal of it.

Seeing that Nathan seemed done checking the wound he handed the iPad back and returned to simply speaking, and letting Nathan read his lips. "Your mom like- not really a fan of like skateboarding, rollerblading, all this kinda a stuff either.. Or just like super overprotective?" Felix asked kinda hesitantly. A slight look of discomfort on his face and in his body language as Felix's mind briefly drifted to thinking about his own mother's gradual hostility to the sport. "Mine's.. Not like actually a big fan. Nor are my grandparents really." Felix did his best to verbally pass it off as no big deal in his tone, not that Nathan could hear it - meanwhile not realizing, how much his heart was on his sleeve making the pretty serious emotional pain and discomfort of those words visible through his body language alone.

He did his best to keep those memories out of his head though - he didn't want to think about them, or about his mother at all right now. He didn't want to think about their fighting, or the accident. Felix doing his best to shake away the feelings, bottling them up deep down. He didn't want to let Nathan see them. He didn't' want to think about it or get upset. "So other than the battle wound, how're your leg's feeling? Bet they feel like jelly, or like they're gonna fall off." He joked with a small chuckle to himself. He could see how sweaty Nathan had become, and how tired he was on the final pass back. Even if Nathan wasn't completed tired it was pretty dark right now, would be hard for a beginner to practice even with Nate glowing as he was anyway.

Asher was successfully managing to get his mind to focus on the game rather than everything else going on as he sat up basically on the edge of his seat watching the action. " yeah they definitely need to shoot more!" He watched as the puck and players flew back and forth down the rink desperately trying to score on each other as the third quarter ticked closer and closer to the end of the game. As suddenly a player on the sharks who wasn't even near the puck got slammed hard against the glass and before Asher knew what was going on sticks and gloves were thrown to the ice and the two players were throwing punches grabbing each other in an attempt to throw them to the ice. Asher was shocked he had heard before that fights happened in hockey sometimes but he never really believed it was a thing until there it was happening right in front of him.

Both players were sent to the penalty box to cool down Asher's mouth just hanging wide open for a few moments before he could recover from the shock. "I...I didn't think that actually happened! Like they actually fight in hockey?!?" why? why is that a thing? Asher was having a rough time wrapping his brain around why that would even be a normal thing in a professional sport that isn't even about fighting. But at the same time he thought it was kinda exciting so he didn't really mind it just confused by it. " Wow why haven't I been watching hocke my whole life this is great!" he exclaimed

Jack watched intently as the puck went back and forth, both teams desperately trying to find a good scoring opportunity to capitalize on. He was quite literally on the edge of his seat, nervously biting his nails each time either team got close to having a scoring chance. But Jack's eyes widened as he heard a large boom as a player crashed into the boards and the crowd started to become a bit louder and unruly. Jack threw his hands up in front of himself in disbelief and anger as he had realized what had just happened. A player from the opposing team had just laid a hard but dirty hit onto one of the Sharks players against the boards despite the Sharks player not even having the puck in his possession. Soon, the other Sharks players on the ice jumped into action to defend their teammate who was checked illegally.

All of the linesmen tried to break up the different scrums, but eventually a fight was allowed between a Sharks player and the player who laid the dirty hit. The two players grabbed onto each other's jerseys as they used their other hands to throw punches and jabs at their opponent's face. The crowd erupted with cheers as they went into a wild frenzy, cheering on the home team player in the fight. Jack sat on the edge of his seat, waving his fists up and down with excitement, cheering silently for his team's player. Eventually after a few seconds of hard punches being thrown, the player for the opposing team went down onto the ice, and the linesmen pulled the two apart, sending them each to go sit for 5 minutes in the penalty box due to fighting. Jack cheered as he pumped his fist in the air upon seeing the Sharks player emerge victorious in the battle. "Yes!" Jack cried as the Sharks player won.

He turned to his side and noticed a very surprised but smiling boy, astonished by the big fight. Jack smiled nodding his head quickly, "Oh yea! They really do fight in hockey! It's awesome! Dropping the gloves is all a part of the game!" Jack crossed his arms and grinned, glad that Asher was beginning to see one of the many reasons why he loved to watch the sport so much. He figured he'd explain why fighting was allowed and such a big tradition in hockey to Asher though. "Yea! Fighting is awesome!" Jack began, smiling eagerly, "But we don't do it for no reason. Since that guy on the other team laid a dirty hit on to one of our guys, you always gotta have someone defend him. So that's why you saw that Sharks player jump in and fight the other guy. That's also why the refs let it happen, it's all a part of the game. Usually they won't allow more than one fight on the ice though, so you probably noticed the other players just grabbed each others jerseys and stood in place, or just watched the fight play out."

Jack thought to his days playing hockey back before he was sent to the home. He had played for a couple of different travel teams, ever since he was a little boy. As he got older he remembered that sometimes in really intense games, there would be fights. Some refs allowed them and some didn't, but when they did, Jack was never involved. Jack was never a fighter and nor had he ever fought in a hockey game. The most he had ever done, he remembered, was just grabbing on to an opposing team's player's jersey as was customary in hockey, to keep any more guys from joining the one-on-one fight. Jack was usually a respectful player, a bit timid even at times. In his mind, he was there to score goals, not yell at or start fights with any of the other players. He got lost in thought a bit, day dreaming and reminiscing on his days of playing hockey, days which he missed as he held them very dear to his heart. The play eventually started back up again, and Jack drifted off in his thoughts, not realizing the puck had been dropped in his day dream trance.

Nathan giggled lightly as at Felix's question was mom overprotective? Heck yes! he thought to himself. " Yeah mom.... well she doesn't like anything that could be considered dangerous. Not skateboarding, not rollerblading, biking, roller coasters... the list could go on and on really." then as Felix continued he noticed the mood change Felix was clearly a great deal of pain bringing up his mother. Nathans arm reached for his friend hesitating for a moment before wrapping him in a hug just holding him for a few moments to comfort Felix as best he could. He then typed with one hand to keep the other around Felix. "Hey... its okay... you don't have to talk about it but I am here for you. even if you just need a shoulder to cry on k?" Nathan released Felix from the hug a few moments later gently smiling at the boy keeping a hand rested on his back gently for a while longer.

He chuckled as Felix asked about his legs. He could tell the boy was just trying to change the subject but Nathan was fine indulging him. If he Felix didn't want to talk about then they weren't going to talk about it. "yeah they are pretty Jelly like." he laughed "but I think it was worth it skating was fun and I liked spending time with you" Nathan clearly blushed at his final comment. He smiled joyfully at Felix unable to truly understand how his day turned out the way it had. Figuring out that he's gay, meeting a boy that he likes and spending a large portion of the day with him and then getting all geared up and learning to skate. Nathan Unbuckled the helmet setting it aside. " wanna help me get this stuff off? we should probably start getting ready for bed I am pooped." he then set his Ipad aside and started working on the pads.

Felix had a very confused expression on his face as Nathan decided to hug him as he replied back. He didn't resist or anything, simply Felix was legitimately oblivious to how bad he was at lying, at hiding his feelings. "What? No what's-like to cry about you goof? Your the one with the overprotective parent who doesn't sound like she let's you do-like anything fun." Replying with a cheerful tone but in clearly blatant denial. "Well.. I won't tell her about this if you don't. Kay?" he playfully nudges Nathan with a slight wink before letting the topic move on. Nathan's mother would drive him mad, he couldn't imagine, couldn't handle being unable to do all these things.

He gently poked Nathan in a spot on his calf that he hoped would be as ticklish on his friend, as it was on himself with a dramatic thinking expression - before then drumming his fists on the kneepad's Nathan wore on his jelly-legs. "Yep, definitely a case of jelly legs." Felix nodding to himself as if he'd just solved some big mystery. As the iPad continued to read out the messages Felix let out a small laugh again and wrapped his arm around Nathan's shoulder, oblivious to his friends internal feelings or monologue. "It's like- super fun right? We got you rolling and glowing and like, I had a lotta fun hanging out too! Sorry that I don't understand all your urm, I guess it's like a sign language you were doing earlier?" Felix felt a little bad about not understanding it, though it didn't seem to stop the two boys having plenty of conversation.

As Nathan removed the helmet and asked for help getting the stuff off Felix nodded. One by one the glowing lights of Nathan going out as he helped undo the various pads, putting each of them inside the upside down helmet besides them to make them easier to carry in. Felix then slipping down the steps and gently lifting Nathan's leg little and resting it on his knee to make it easier to undo, and so that pulling the laces loose didn't result in Nathan's feet rolling forward and/or accidentally kicking him. Felix's face lit gently the slight glow of the muddy wheels; Felix running his hand across a few setting them spinning to give light. Felix very much getting reminded and unconsciously treating this like how he'd help the little kids he'd teach get their skates on and off, slightly nostalgic memories making him smile a little. If you ignore the one time Felix did get kicked in the face doing a kids laces, with the foot flying up.

There is a brief moment where Felix looks to fiddle with the latch on the buckle, sticking his own tongue out a little trying to grip and pull it up. Eventually after a few seconds it popping up and releasing the tension on the ankle ratchet-strap. "Frickin- there! The new strap for these get stuck sometimes, spring's too tight cus its suppose to be for adult-sizes. Oh look this is kinda cool the little latch-bit has both the hook that moves in when you press the release, but also like a little magnets there to-like lock 'em so the strap can't pop open by accident, and-like I don't like twist my ankle if I take a big fall." Felix gesturing and showing Nathan little little technical details that likely didn't mean much to his friend, even with him trying to explain it simpler.
Buckle released, Felix quickly unfastened the ankle strap, pulled the laces loose and held back the skate open for Nathan to pull his jelly-leg out of the while comfortable and padded, defiantly too-snug boot. Nathan foot probably getting a minor but harmless case of pins and needles. Felix immediately repeating the above with the other skate, though second time round not having to fiddle with the latch it just popping up easier. Letting Nathan if his legs will carry him, stand up safely on the steps without falling on his butt.

Asher turned listening to his friend explain why fighting was a thing in hockey it all still seemed rather strange to him but he was intrigued none the less and thought it was pretty cool. I guess now it makes sense why the kids I know who play hockey can be pretty hot headed seems like the perfect sport for it. he thought quietly to himself as he continued watching the game. Eventually play started back up and once again his eyes were glued to the Tv.

As Asher watched he couldn’t help but wonder what it would be lie to play hockey. He imagined himself out on the ice skating around all geared up. He thought he would probably be one of the mire aggressive players on the ice the perfect guy to make sure the opposing team was never in control of the situation when they were on his side of the rink. He wondered if he would be any good at the sport and for the first time actually thought he found a sport he would actually try and play. He had always been the sporty type of kid just without a sport he liked enough to play in any serious capacity. He decided to indulge his curiosity a bit pulling out his phone he was delighted to find quite a few ice rinks in the area and wondered if him and Jack could go check one out sometime and see if Asher had any talent for the sport.

His focus though was quickly diverted back to the Tv as the final few moments of the game closed in and out of nowhere the same player who had made the major breakaway in the first period was back at it again desperately trying to get down the rink before the buzzer sounded. Asher nudged Jack in pure excitement as the player approached the goal lining up his shot. And he shoots and just as the Buzzer sounds the puck finds its home behind the goalkeeper in the net. Asher jumped to his feet “GOAL!!! YOU MAD MAN YOU DID IT!!!” He shouted in pure delight as he cheered the score counter ticking over to 3-2 and the announcers calling out the amazing winning play for the sharks “They did it THEY REALLY FRIKEN DID IT!” He shouted truly taken over by joy in this moment.
