Asher smiled back at Jack “Thanks but you really don’t owe me any thanks... I was a jerk so I did what I could to make up for it... you deserve to be treated better than how I treated you...” Asher stopped talking as he saw the Sharks seemed to have a good lead on the other team as they raced down the rink. A single Shark versus a goalie... He Shoots He scores!!!! Asher jumped up from his seat arms stretched into the air. “Goal!!!!” He cheered gleefully. He was really getting into the game and it seemed to him hockey might be a good substitute for soccer now that he wasn’t sure he even wanted to watch the sport anymore. To him soccer now meant Jordan and he didn’t want anything to do with him.

As the cheering subsided Asher took his seat again a huge grin on his face “okay... this is fun I see why you like it.” He said looking in Jack’s direction for a moment. Before grabbing the bowl of chips off the table and placing it in his lap. He grabbed a couple chips then offered them to Jack as they continued to enjoy the game. Asher basking in his new friendship trying to remember the last time he made a friend who he could actually just casually hang out with. Sure Asher knew a lot of people and he might even call some of them friends but most of them were the type of friend who only hung around him in groups. To be fare Asher knew he was partly to blame for that. But here he was just hanging out with Jack and he was loving it.

"Okay look at me, look at me. Okay. Like- remember if you really need to fall, knees and elbows first. Got it?" Felix gave one final confirmation before having Nathan stand up, ensuring his friend had the most basic of bails in his head. There was a chance Nathan would just forget, but anything to soften a fall was good. He then went to help his friend to his feet, standing infront of him and holding his hands and letting himself be leaned on. Yet to his feet Nathan came, very shaky and looking like he'd never been on two feet before with feet sliding back and fourth but that was to be expected. Felix smiling excitedly as his friend made it to his feet, yet also checking off a slight mental sigh of disappointment at his friend now being noticably another like four inches taller than he already was - it was one of the things Felix liked and a reason he'd stay on skates all day if he could - just getting to be a little taller.

Felix did his best to keep Nathan stable, staying close at first and closely moving back a little though still holding him. "There we go, you got it." He knew Nathan's body would not know what to do, his feet trying to escape him but he'd taught young kids this before plenty of times. Making sure Nathan was looking at him he continued his instructions to try and correct Nathan's posture and balance a little, getting him to bend his knees a bit and not be too stiff with it how he might reflexively be. Thankfully the pair were on flat ground, he didn't need to teach this on a slope yet.

"Kay, you ready for our first lesson?" Felix asked squeezing Nathan's hand supportively, checking if the other boy shaky, afraid and unbalanced as he was ready to proceed. As soon as Nathan gave confirmation, Felix would flash a quick grin. "Well -like I already gave my first lesson before you got up, bailing!" As he suddenly and forcefully throw Nathan's hands up in the air, letting go of his grip on him to purposefully to unbalance him. Felix was ready to catch Nathan if he started falling badly, but Felix' needed to make sure Nathan could trust the pads would keep him safe - and that if he was gonna fall for real skating he did catch himself properly. Plus this was to help teach Nathan to be able to stand himself up from the ground, which given Felix's experience teaching kids was about a 50/50 chance of either figuring out how to stand instantly, or constantly falling back down and crawling to the grass or stairs until they were taught.

Felix asking Nathan to do all of this a few times (though not pushing him off balance on the later falls). He knew once Nathan's body started to realise the pads would turn a knee-slicing painful fall into just a painless bump and slide on the concrete, he'd be able to just start smiling and laughing about any future falls like Felix would instead of being simply afraid to screw up. Again entire time Felix staying right in range to just catch Nathan if any fall looked a bit too sketchy or he seemed to panic. His friend put trust in him, he wasn't going to break it - but also these were two basic skills he needed to learn now instead of later when he needed them.

Jack smiled at Asher as he was about to protest and tell Asher his thanks was necessary, but something caught his ears and eyes. Jack heard the announcers starting to get worked up about something going on in the game and he immediately looked onto the TV. He saw one of the Sharks players on a breakaway skating down the ice as Jack smiled and clenched his fist in anticipation, hoping the player would score. He widened his eyes and watched the TV. And then it happened.... GOAL!!!!!!

Jack jumped up and cheered as his team scored and was finally on the boards. "YES!" Jack shouted. The boy was happy that his favorite team had finally scored a goal. While it wasn't quite as special as watching the game in person as the SAP Center, he still enjoyed watching the game from home on the TV.

Jack looked over at Asher and smiled, "Yea, it's a ton of fun, especially when your team scores and does well obviously." The boy smiled as he said "thanks" softly as he took a few chips from the bowl that Asher had offered him. Jack hadn't been able to watch a hockey game with anyone but his old friend Mitch, and on very rare occasions, his parents when they were still alive. He usually just watched them alone, which he didn't mind at all.

To say Nathan was surprised when he gave a nod and next thing he knew Felix intentionally made him loose his balance would be an understatement. As Nathan’s feet came out from under him he plummeted to the ground. Panic set in this was exactly what he was scared of falling, getting hurt and now it was happening on purpose. Just before he hit the ground at a potentially badd angle Nathans mind kicked in remembering what Felix had repeated over and over to him. Nathan shifted himself to land on his knees closing his eyes tight preparing for the pain he anticipated would follow. But the pain never came aside from a little bump as his knees made contact he was fine.

Nathan breathed heavily as relief washed over him. Followed by a small amount of anger within him. He knew I was scared.... why would he do that? Was all this just a ploy so he could make fun of and bully me? Nathan couldn’t help the thoughts that were racing through his head this situation scared him and essentially being shoved to the ground hadn’t helped his mindset one bit. He looked up at Felix the anger evident in his eyes.No no thats crazy talk. He wouldn’t do that. Hes your friend he’s trying to help you learn... Right? Yeah he was just showing you that as long as you did what he said you would be fine. And you are. Nathan’s expression softened as he pulled himself together but part of him still felt the need to voice how much he didn’t like what just happened. “Don’t ever do that again!” Nathan spoke confidently a forcefulness in his voice that felt alien to him. The words were still not the clearest a bit like a toddler who has just started speaking but it was enough to get his feelings across.

After giving his Warning to his friend Nathan’s expression dipped back to its usual soft and smiling self he wasn’t overly upset with Felix as he understood why it happened. Nathan repositioned himself so he was sat on his butt as he contemplated what to do next. Seeing that Felix wasn’t coming to help him back up Nathan figured this was another test to see if he could get back up by himself. The Idea scared him but he figured it was his only option. After coming up with a game plan Nathan shifted himself again now on his knees he took one foot out from under himself planting it firmly on the ground then did the same with the other now leaning back onto his hands. After convincing his feet to stand still he walked the rest of his body forward on his hands until his weight was over the skates. His tongue slightly sticking out the whole time. He then took a deep breath and pushed himself upwards. And he was on his feet though it nearly didn’t last as his legs betrayed him and tried to run away backwards. Nathan quickly grabbed onto his friend almost knocking them both over as he stabilized himself.

If Nathan was being honest he hated that for the next several minutes he had to fall and get back up over and over again. But it was nice to know he wasn’t getting hurt from it the pads did their job. There were a couple of times though when do to nothing but Nathan panicking or doing something stupid where the pads would not have been enough to stop the pain but each of those times Felix was their to catch him and keep him safe. By the end of it Nathan still hated falling but at least he knew he should be fine if he did. Nathan was beginning to work up a sweat from the exercise his breathing becoming a little heavier than usual. Finally after falling for what seemed like the thousandth time Nathan got up pretty smoothly still grabbing onto Felix once on his feet. He was still in no way confident enough to stand unsupported. He smiled at his friend admiring Felix’s eyes, Nathan’s cheeks slightly rosy. His Bangs sticking to his forehead a bit from the sweat. “Next please.” He mouthed truly over the falling exercise.

It was perhaps a mean way to teach but it was defiantly with the best of intentions. He knew why Nate was angry but still it was a kinda needed, though he was still taken aback given his friend's usual quietness. Felix knelt down and looked him in the eye just nodded. "I won't." Replying with a serious expression. Making a mental note to explain why he did that later once they were done. But you know it was kinda cute afterwards watching Nathan slowly try and figure out how to stand back up again, moving to position himself and then sticking out his tongue. Felix quick to stabilize Nate as he almost made it to his feet and nearly fell again, digging in his feels a bit to ensure they didn't both fall.

While it might have felt like a ton of times, in reality it was likely only ten or twelve rounds of falling and figuring out how to get back up, not that Felix was keeping an exact count. He had a almost proud smile though seeing Nathan practice and start to get more comfortable. Felix was oblivious to Nate's thoughts but seeing his friend confirm he was ready to continue he gently brushed some of Nathan's sweaty fringe to the side smiled before continuing to look the other boy back in the eyes and instructing. "Next lessons gonna be easy ones. -An' like- way better than falling a bunch."
"Okay so two parts. Gonna have you skate around, or- roll around."
Felix chuckled a little. "I'll do the hard work, just want you to try and get used to feeling like your rolling - and like try and keep your feet straight, don't let 'em go all over the place. And part two-" Felix holding up two fingers. "Since my skates are meant for like- more aggressive stuff on ramps they don't got a beginner break on the back. So I'm gonna teach you a proper advance way!!" He grinned waiting for an okay from Nathan before continuing.

"Okay so like watch my feet, gonna show you. Your gonna put all your weight on the front foot like this, and turn your back foot like this. Keep all your weight on the front but push down and drag the back foot. Like- imagining making your feet like an L or T shape. It's a little tricky but it's a really good break, your stop fast and I'll be holding onto you, kay?" Felix demonstrating a few times standing how to perform a T-stop, and getting Nathan to just try copying so he knew what he would be doing.

Once ready Felix would begin the much less exhausting lesson two proper for Nathan, holding his friends hands securely and beginning to walk backwards around the parking lot. Felix just letting Nathan just get pulled and roll along, get used to the feelings. Taking it nice and slow to begin with. Every so often after enjoying a short bit, asking Nathan to try breaking - worst case Nathan tripping on his own feet and maybe falling but otherwise hopefully grinding to a stop. Felix hoping to try and get Nathan's basic balance and break skills together before trying to teach him to propel himself. If Nathan seemed up for it, Felix would eventually move around behind Nathan and gently push him from behind, still keeping a grasp on his friend's shoulder and lower back supportively but Nate would be unable to just lean on him and have to focus hard on his balance. Felix able to push a little faster since he was walking forwards (though not going much faster than walking speed) and then every so often giving Nathan a double tap on the shoulder as a signal to try and break.
After a while of this or whenever Nathan looked like he needed/signalled that he wanted to stop. Felix would roll his friend over to a patch of grass in the shade under a tree right across the other side of the drive/parking lot, and sit them both down facing towards the home to let them both sit down.

Asher smiled "Nah I like it when my team does horribly. Cant score, Cant defend. Prime sport watching right there." he chuckled a bit before chomping down on some more chips. He looked over to Jack as he continued watching the game and could see a completely different boy than the one he had seen sneaking around the house the last few days. Jack was having a good time not just trying to get in and out before anybody noticed. Asher felt good knowing he had something to do with the boy's mood. He also couldn't help but note that Jack looked good with a smile on his face. He thought about making the cliché "You should smile more" comment but decided it probably wasn't the best choice.

"so you into anything besides Hockey? Car's, Video games, Long walks on the beach? cause if you like the last one I mean we have a beach basically right out our front door. Though we would have to get permission cause I cant take a chance upsetting the warden again." Asher Joked he didn't actually think of Mrs. Richardson as a warden it was just the joke him and some of the other kids at the house made from time to time. Especially when they got in trouble. But in all reality Asher thought very highly of the woman. Pretty much the only long term and stable adult he has ever had in his life.

Jack laughed at Asher's jokes and sarcasm. The boy returned his gaze to the TV as the players got back to playing after celebrating the goal they had just scored.

Jack just shrugged his shoulders, "N- no not really, I'm not too interesting," he said softly as he kept his gaze on the game going on, on the TV. "I guess I like video games, I play a little on the side when I'm not playing sports," he said, "but I dunno if long walks on the beach are for me." He shrugged his shoulders. He tended not to admit to anyone that he played video games, as he felt it kind of took away from the fact that he was an athlete, but he had to admit that he loved a good video game or two, it was his guilty pleasure.

He chuckled a bit at Asher's little warden joke. Personally, Jack had never had a problem with Mrs. Richardson and had always been polite and respectful to her and hadn't dared to disobey anything she had said. It wasn't that Jack feared Mrs. Richardson, but he had been raised to be respectful to adults always. It was a value his parents had instilled in him at a young age, although they were rarely around, so it was mostly the various nannies who would teach him that as a young little boy.

Nathan jumped a bit his heart skipping a beat as Felix reached up and brushed some of his hair from his face. Leaving a smile on where his slightly tired expression once was. Watching carefully as Felix explained what was next on the agenda Nathan did his best to mime his friend’s foot positioning as they went over the braking technique. Nathan wasn’t 100% sure he got it but Felix seemed satisfied and Nathan figured it would probably make more sense in the moment.

As Felix started pulling him along Nathan did his best to keep his feet straight and under him. It was very shaky at first but after some more tongue out concentration and input from Felix, Nathan began to find his balance and was now rolling pretty smoothly. This got Nathan to look up from his feet with the largest grin his face could muster feeling quite proud of himself for reaching the milestone. It was nearly impossible for him to believe but Nathan was actually enjoying this. He even kinda started looking forward to being able to skate all on his own. But that would be later now it was time for him to try stopping. Felix gave the signal and Nathan tried his best to repeat the motions from earlier. But instead of stopping while remaining on his feet the new motion caused Nathan to trip over himself. He instinctively let go of Felix as to not make things worse by pulling him down as well. Nathan tried to land how he had been taught and to his credit almost did but the angle was just a little off causing one of his thighs to make contact directly with the pavement.

Nathan winced in pain as he hit the ground grabbing his thigh tightly. But before Felix really had time to react Nathan took a deep breath in exhaling slowly before getting himself back on his feet ready to continue. Nathan was enjoying himself and despite his normal reaction to pain being to run away from what had caused it. He wanted to keep going he didn’t even want to think about his leg at the moment he just wanted to get back up and try stopping again not satisfied that he had failed. After one more much smoother fall Nathan had finally figured it out and was now stopping with the grace of.... well an amateur who is just barley good enough to stop but still.

Nathan was nervous when Felix switched to pushing suddenly his safety net was gone no longer able to lean on him when his balance feels off no confident supportive face to concentrate on when the nerves came back. But just like everything else today Nathan surprised even himself by taking this new challenge head on. Over all the experience went well. Was he a natural on skates? No. But he probably wasn’t the worst first time skater in the world and that was good enough for him.

After a while though Nathan began to wear down his legs started to get a little wobbly again and he could feel his muscles begging for a break after getting Felix’s attention he let him know he needed a break and the boy rolled them over to some grass they both sat down with Nathan immediately falling back to lay in the grass. Panting a bit clearly tired from using his body in such an alien way to what it was used to. Despite that though he had a huge smile on his face as he thought about how great the day had been. Especially this evening. Unbeknownst to him Nathan’s earlier fall had actually managed to break the skin a little and he now had a small amount of blood that had ran down his leg a bit before drying. Nathan looked to Felix as he reached for his phone before realizing he had left it by the door to make sure he didn’t break it.

Nathan panicked a little looking around for some way to communicate when he saw the shape of Felix’s phone outlined in his pocket. Nathan reached a hand over getting Felix’s attention as he tapped on the phone in the boys pocket after receiving the phone he began composing his message. “ hey... umm thanks. This has really been a lot of fun :) I really didn’t think I was going to like it but you made it fun. While I’m not happy with how or why it happened I am really glad you came to the home so I could meet you. Today has been great!” Nathan then handed the phone back to Felix with a smile.

"oh cool! I don't know what kind of games you like but I got a playstaion I keep it in my room so nothing happens to it I got a pretty good selection of games for it maybe we could hook it up and play sometime?" Asher really wasn't much of a gamer but Jordan had gotten him a PS4 so they could play together it was well used and looked like it but that didn't really matter to Asher. After that Asher just kinda settled deeper into the couch content to just sit and watch the game with Jack. Part of Asher felt bad sitting next to a guy he liked apparently ready to move on from Jordan already but he quickly pushed that thought from his mind realizing how stupid it was considering Jordan had apparently moved on before they even broke up. So Asher just sat there smile on his face watching a sport that was new to him and the boy he liked.

As they relaxed and watched the game Asher hadn't even realized that his arm had slowly slipped down from the back of the couch and was now just lightly resting across Jack's shoulders. Asher kicked his feet up onto the coffee table clearly just relaxed. Content to spend the rest of his night here cheering for his new favorite team hoping they would win.

Jack smiled a little, "Oh that's cool, I've got an Xbox One over in my room." He shrugged his shoulders as he didn't really know what games they could play, especially since he had an Xbox and Asher had a Playstation. He was looking forward though to being able to play some games that he couldn't play in his console that maybe Asher had in his collection. Jack wasn't much of a gamer and only played one or two games, but he was willing to potentially try some new games.

Soon, he too sat back on the couch and shifted his focus to the game, which was relatively uneventful ever since the early goal from the Sharks. But after a little while, Jack eventually sensed the slight feeling of being touched gently. Jack felt himself internally panic a bit, as he certainly wasn't one who enjoyed contact, even if it was a good friend touching him. Jack had always been odd about physical contact. Physical contact among teammates was very common in sports, hockey included, but Jack was always awkward about being touched. He always felt uncomfortable getting hugs or pats on the backs after scoring or giving an assist on a goal to one of his teammates. The only person Jack didn't seem to have as much apprehensions about when being touched was his good friend Mitch. He always welcomed a hug or a pat on the back or two whenever he played on the ice with Mitch.

Jack tried not to say anything as to not make the situation even more tense and uncomfortable. He felt that he would make things way too awkward if he were to bring up to Asher that he wasn't a fan of even slight physical contact. Jack gulped and tried to push any uncomfortable thoughts out of his mind as he tried to focus his efforts back onto the hockey game on the TV screen. He began letting his mind drift to game related thoughts, such as how thankful he was that it was a 1-0 game and that his team was leading.

Felix clearly had been having a great time of teaching Nathan as well, smiling away and laughing a bit not when Nathan fell but whenever he'd give that determined tongue-out expression and pushed himself. Nathan was being a champ for how afraid he was earlier and it clearly made Felix pretty happy to see. He was always there to help Nathan when he fell, but as his friend continually pushed himself to his feet - well clearly not needed. After a bit he felt the hand tap his own signally for his attention and as Felix rolled around to the exhausted Nathan he quickly agreed to the break. Joining Nathan on the grass with a big arms out wide-flop besides his friend and chuckling a bit at seeing Nathan's exhaustion.
"Dunno like-why your soo tired. I was the one pushing!" Felix said in a clearly playful expression sticking out his own tongue before going back to joining Nate flopped on the grass for a few minutes - Felix wasn't really tired yet, but still no harm in resting up.

Felix happily turned over his phone for Nathan to type a message to him, and waited for it to be handed back to him. Felix smiled a bunch seeing the message, it was this weird feeling - because yeah he had a lot of fun today but as the message reminded him he was here because what happened. He paused, his expression thoughtful before smiling again and pushing the phone back to Nathan to keep hold of for the second. "I had a lot of fun teaching you. You've been like a pro-champion for your first time! We'll-like have you leaping off the roof in no time." Felix was clearly exaggerating and kidding around but he was trying to make Nathan feel good about the practice this far.

"Oh and sorry about like-scaring you. -You know at the start. But like - your not gonna know when you'll fall right? That's the problem so-" He shrugged a bit. "If I didn't you mighta frozen up and been too afraid to-like even do a practice bail. This kinda makes beginners lossen up and stop being afraid once they've already fallen safe." Felix was genuinely feeling bad about scaring Nathan, even if it was for his own good. Offering out a hand for a fist bump to his friend. "No hard feelings, kay?"

As Jack sort of uncomfortably shifted his position Asher felt his arm move drawing attention to where his arm was resting. Asher’s cheeks turned a bright shade of pink as he realized what was happening. Seeing that the contact was clearly not very comfortable to Jack which wasn’t really a surprise given how shy the boy was, Asher slowly removed his arm from the boy. Awkwardly tucking it in his lap to avoid any further roaming.

“S..sorry about that I.. I didn’t even realize.” He said quietly not looking away from the Tv. He was embarrassed and his face showed it and didn’t want Jack to notice so he just tried to act as casual as he could. Asher was glad he hadn’t looked away from the Tv as the opposing team scored a goal but Asher clearly saw one of the players go offsides before the shot was taken. He threw his hands up in frustration as it was clear the refs weren’t going to call it. “C’mon what game are you watching. He was Offsides!” The score now 1-1 as the opposing team’s fans cheered. Asher slumped back on the couch “Now that is some BS right there.” He commented throwing his hand in the direction of the Tv.

Nathan smiled and shook his head at Felix’s message. He appreciated the compliments even if they were a bit exaggerated the thought of jumping off a roof however? That sent shivers down his spine. Though it was clearly a joke. As he continued reading a small sinking feeling settled in his stomach as he remembered what had happened earlier. How he snapped at his friend and how that must have made Felix feel.

He looked over with a bit of a half smile as he bumped Felix’s fist with his own. Before typing out his own reply. After a few moments of very rapid tapping writing and rewriting his message a couple of times he allowed Felix to see. “ Im really really really sorry for snapping at you earlier... I never do that I... I don’t know what came over me and I’m sorry. I understand why you did it... Even then I understood but I still went ahead and made a butthead out of myself when you were just doing what I asked and teaching me.” Nathan’s eyes were filled with worry as he watched Felix read the message. Truly embarrassed and upset with himself for how he had acted.

His message then continued after a large gap in the text to show the two completely different lines of thought. “ So you like skating... Obviously....you probably like playing sports and doing other physical activities. But let’s see what else there is to find out about you. Ummmm lets see what is your favorite food, color, and drink!” Nathan thought it would be fun just to get to know the little things about Felix. He clearly already knew what the boy’s passion was but all the little things were just as important in Nathans mind. Finally at the bottom of his message in all caps “WHAT.... IM ALLOWED TO BE TIRED I’M NOT USED TO THIS...ANY OF THIS... :)” referring of course to Felix’s earlier comment about him being tired. One thing Nathan knew for sure seeing just how sporty his new friend was after being outside all afternoon and still having all this energy. Keeping his very un-athletic pretty out of shape self up with Felix was going to be one heck of a challenge.

Felix just shook his head. "Hey we just fist-bumped no hard feelings, that goes to me too!" He gently poked Nathan again a couple of times in the side to try and clear his worried expression with more ticklish laughter. Felix with a smile on his face as he then waited for Nathan to calm down and possibly poke back before replying. "You were scared. If anything I was the butthead for-like chucking you in heads first. No worries we're good." Genuinely having no hard feelings about it and really having just wanted to explain so Nathan knew - though he was kinda happy to hear that his friend did understand and didn't mean it.

On the second part of the message Felix smiled and laughed again, being read like the obvious sporty-book he was. "Hmmm... Burger with onions and extra cheese, Yellow, and... Strawberry milkshake." He replied sticking his tongue out a bit, meanwhile gently kicking (or more tapping) the yellow-laced skates Nathan currently wore with his yellow-accented sneakers. Though Felix was also kinda okay with a orangey yellow, that was cool too. "Okay your turn!" He was more than happy to turn this into a little game.

The ending of the message just making Felix let out a snigger of a laugh. Seeing Nathan still pretty worn out Felix quickly bounced up to his feet, practically leaping up from the grassy ground and leaving Nathan to rest. "Hey think I'm gonna-like run and get a drink, what do you want? I'll bring it out." It'd only take him like a minute to grab a quick something from the fridge or some water so it'd take longer to ungear up Nathan and get stuff than it would to just bring it out. -And Felix still wanted to push the lesson on a little moreafter this, even if that was technically Nathan's choice end of the day.

Jack's cheeks turned a bit of a bright shade of red as Asher finally noticed his slight physical contact was making him feel uncomfortable. Blushing a bit and looking mostly at the TV, Jack softly responded, "It- it's fine... I just-" he stopped himself before he went on. He was going to explain that he wasn't necessarily a fan of physical contact and touch, but decided not to in hopes of making the situation less awkward for both him and Asher. He thought back to his time with Mitch and the times he would touch him after he scored a goal or did something desirable mid-game. He remembered feeling uncomfortable at first, but eventually warming up to it as the two boys became closer.

The boy then returned his full focus onto the TV once again. He had only caught a glance of Asher's face from the corner of his eye, as he was trying not to make direct eye contact with the boy as he himself felt embarrassed too. Jack felt that he probably shouldn't be feeling all weird and uncomfortable about the little gesture of friendship that was the arm around him, but something in his gut still made him feel all uncomfortable and anxious. But all of Jack's nervous thoughts were soon pushed out of his head as he focused on the hockey game at hand. He had noticed that the opposing team had unfortunately scored to tie the game up at 1-1, but that they were clearly offsides, meaning that the goal should not have counted. Jack threw his hands out in front of his body and leaned his head forward as he furrowed his brows in both anger and confusion. "What the hell?!" Jack yelled at the TV. Why did it always seem that the officials were against the Sharks. It had been a long season of crappy calls from the refs, which frustrated the boy as he was quite the big fan of his team. Jack slumped back on the couch and put his hands on the top of his head like a disappointed coach. "Screw those refs, what a bad call!" Jack protested. It was certainly frustrating that the refs did not look like they were going to call off the goal. The score was 1-1 and the Sharks' lead had been eliminated, making this game a bit more intense now. "All season with this awful calls..." Jack muttered frustratedly under his breath.

Nathans worries were quickly dashed by Felix’s response and the following ticklish pokes to his body Nathan tried fighting back placing a few pokes of his own to the boy’s midsection which of course garnered quite the reaction from Felix. Nathan had discovered that the boy was very ticklish and he intended to use that to his advantage. After the boy’s settled down from their warfare Felix continued reading the message.

With a bit of a laugh the boy responded to Nathans questions. Nathan wearing a smile of his own Hmm Burger and milkshake how American of him... he thought to himself with a little chuckle. He then proceeded to get his answers written down for Felix actually having to think about his favorite drink a bit.
“Well.... My favorite color if Purple for sure. Food would have to be some Fish and chips and drink... I think my favorite drink is tea. But none of that sweet tea junk so many Americans are obsessed with proper tea.” As he finished typing his response Nathan smiled and shook his head. ha how British of me!

Suddenly Felix sprung to his feet which garnered quite the look from Nathan as he was not ready to get back up yet and was very content to just lay here in the grass for a while. However Felix then explained his intentions to which Nathan smiled. “I’ll take some water” he quickly typed before showing the message to Felix. As Felix ran off to head in side Nathan went back to Felix’s Camera roll on his phone just looking through all the pictures of Felix. A few of which he couldn’t help but send to himself though he did feel a little guilty for not having permission. Nathan then just laid back closing his eyes enjoying the evening as he waited for his friend to return.

As the two young teens shared in the frustration of the lack of a call you could almost feel the tension in the room grow. Their teams lead getting cheaply stolen away from them causing things to get much more serious. Not a word was spoken between the two as they followed every play. Asher being more captured by this game than he ever expected. But eventually the buzzer sounded marking the end of the period.

As the short break began Asher thought back to Jack’s reaction when he had removed his arm from the boy. Making him realize just how uncomfortable it had really made Jack. Asher didn’t want to make things worse but he also knew for their friendship to flourish as Asher truly hoped it would he would need to address things now. One good piece of advise Asher had picked up from who else but Mrs. Richardson was how in any kind of relationship wether friends or more it was important to set and respect each others boundaries without that its impossible to grow a truly strong relationship.

Asher sighed as he looked over to his friend. “Hey... I think we should talk about something.” Asher paused for a moment as he waited for Jack to turn his attention to him. Asher took on a very serious but gentle expression as he continued “Hey i’m sorry for making you uncomfortable by putting my arm around you I didn’t mean to and it wont happen again. I saw that it made you uncomfortable and thats fine I don’t need any kind of explanation unless you want to share one.... The reason I am bringing it up is because... well you didn’t say anything if I hadn’t noticed you likely would still be sitting there feeling uncomfortable and thats not right... If I ever do anything that makes you uncomfortable or you don’t like just tell me okay? You don’t need to explain yourself or anything just tell me you don’t like it and I’ll stop or at least ill try really hard to stop. Okay? I think its really important that we acknowledge each others boundaries and do our best to respect them ya know?”
Asher then gently smiled as he looked the young teen in the eyes.

Frustrated, and just generally a quiet person, Jack had not much to say as he sat back and watched the rest of the first period. He focused intently on the TV, hoping that maybe one of the players on his team would make a move to get the Sharks up again, but nothing came of it. Soon, the buzzer rang loudly signifying the end of the first period of play. The score was 1-1 and it cut to commercial break. Soon to come was the first intermission where the commentators would most likely interview one of the players and then talk about the action in the first period of the game. Jack sat back and sighed as he took a couple of potato chips from the bowl and put them into his mouth. Intermission usually took around 15-20 minutes so he knew that he would be waiting a while until the play started back up again.

The silence though was soon broken by Asher. Jack perked up and cocked his head slightly to the side as he looked at Asher and raised his eyebrows to let him know that the boy had got his attention. Jack looked the young teen boy in the eyes, despite not being too good with the whole eye contact thing. Jack simply shrugged, "Y- yea don't worry about it, it's fine," he looked off to the side, "I appreciate that though Asher." He took a few chips, chewed them, and then swallowed before looking at Asher again, "I'm sorry by the way, I- I know physical contact is kind of a normal friend thing, but I've just.. well.. never been good with it ya know?" He paused as he tried to think of a good way to word what he was trying to say, "I dunno why.... guess I've just never had a ton of close friends..." He frowned a bit, but realized that he had said too much. "It's fine though, it's whatever." Jack said, trying to shove away those feelings. He still felt as if he had said too much, and commercial break couldn't end sooner enough so he could focus on what the commentators on the TV were saying instead of talking about this. He felt a sinking feeling in his stomach for some reason.

Felix let out a slight 'bleh' and grossed out expression at the mention of fish and chips. Eww nooo thank you! Felix never really understood it but he just could not stand the smell or taste of fish. If someone else was fine but, he'll pass on any plates of his own. Still it was pretty interesting to hear Nate go through his preferences, actually the purple color reminding him of some spare colored laces Felix had upstairs on one of his bags. Maybe he'd give them to Nathan if he was interested.

With a quick nod taking Nate's order Felix quickly dashed off inside, jumping up the couple of steps outside and leaping in still clearly with too much energy to burn - happy to let Nathan just chill out there on the grass all comfortable. Felix's energy was hardly boundless but well it wouldn't start dying off any time yet. Felix quickly rushing past the rec-area where Asher and Jack were sat but not paying them any attention, and not even checking who was in there. He did hear the sound of what was defiantly hockey coming out of there and voices chatting but again he wasn't super interested in easedropping - though it did sound like something bad had happened judging by all the yelling.

Meanwhile Nathan outside scrolling through the camera roll would find a bunch of amateurish taken holiday photos of what looked like Felix taking a picture of some ride, or amusement game or of his friends, some with his finger slightly over the phone camera. Felix having a bunch of photos he never put online very clearly. Intermixed with pictures clearly taken by someone else of Felix some of them pretty decent - usually him posing or in the middle of some stunt skating, a few of them of Felix at his old schools gym doing hanging from a gymnastic ring a few feet off the ground, a few of them with a friend of his both with boxing gloves on posing or mid-punch on a bag in some garage. The odd selfie then chucked in by Felix with one of his friends, or with just a goofy face, one of him in his spiderman PJs posing as the hero - One final selfie had Felix with a blond middle aged man in a police uniform with his arm wrapped around him - his Dad maybe(?) they looked like they could be related, and the picture had been favourited. One photo that would pop up scrolling through the more recent ones would seem rather out of place by Felix's sporty or silly snaps; what appeared to be a bunch of police officers all saluting besides a gravestone with a flag ceremonially laid over it, clearly by a smudge of a finger it was probably Felix who took this one.

It had taken Felix more than a few minutes to find a pair of empty plastic bottles to fill up with water, not yet knowing the layout of the kitchen or where anything was kept - you know just getting here and all - but it gave Nathan time to by nosey on the phone and to rest. After a little bit Felix would be seen popping out of the house, closing the door slowly, and then leaping down the steps and jogging across the parking lot to throw his friend the cold bottle of water. "Here, drink up." Felix said before throwing himself on the ground to sit under the tree as well and have a drink of his own.
"How're they feeling?" Felix said motioning by gently tapping/kicking Nathan's skated feet. "You up for another lesson after we had these? Or your legs and feet all just jelly?" He stuck out his tongue playfully, before taking a very long swig of water being pretty dehydrated from being out in the sun all afternoon and now evening. He seemed in high-spirits, with a goofy excited grin ready to keep going whenever Nate was ready.

Asher listened intently as Jack tried to explain his feelings clearly not something the Jack was used to doing or very confident in doing. He smiled gently resisting the urge to place his hand on Jack's knee in support though his hand did move slightly in that direction. As he finished Asher shook his head with a gentle smile. "it's okay Jack. Just because it might be something somewhat normal doesn't mean you have to like it, and you sure as heck don't owe me any explanation as to why you don't like it. Cause in the end all that matters is that its not something you like and now that I know that I can respect that boundary. It's just like how..." Asher paused for a moment choking on his words a bit unsure if he wanted to continue or not "It's just like how I don't like people seeing my arms. So I always keep them covered. Sure its pretty normal for people to see other peoples arms but I have my reasons for why I don't want people to and thats just how it is nobody needs to know why they just need to respect it." Asher had looked away from Jack and instead was focusing his gaze to his arms gently rubbing his left arm with his right hand.

"And I can understand not really having many friends i've never been the most popular kid. Always dealing with one problem or the other and well just being a royal ass to almost everyone I meet." he chuckled a bit thinking back through his life briefly remembering how he was always one of two types of people. when he was younger he was the quiet weirdo that most people just didn't even realize existed. Or in more recent year he was the loud over the top jerk who people either avoided or hung out with exclusively in groups not wanting to be left alone with him. It sort of donned on him in that moment how he changed and why when he was younger he was ignored so he tried to be more outgoing and get people to notice or like him but he had maybe gone to far in the other direction and instead of being someone people Ignored just became someone they couldn't ignore but didn't like. Sure he realized some of how he learned to act came from having to deal with so many things at such a young age but the way he saw it is no matter what environmental influences he may have had he still chose to be who he was.

Nathan had enjoyed his time being a little nosey he usually did being the quiet deaf kid had always had its advantages. Though he never did it for any nefarious means being the kid that most people didn't notice meant it was pretty easy for him to snoop and find things out he might not otherwise have known plus people just didn't expect sweet innocent little Nathan to snoop in the first place. He had quickly sent himself the photo of Felix in his Pj's finding that one pretty cute as well as one or two of him with boxing gloves and skating. Nathan had figured through his scrolling that it was indeed very likely that the cop Felix was with in one of them was his dad and guessed the others were his funeral. After a few moments of thought Nathan sent the photo of Felix and his dad to himself but for completely different reasons than the others. Nathan had a plan in his head to put something special together for Felix involving his father though he wasn't completely sure what yet.

Nathan sat up as he saw Felix come Running over. Gladly accepting the bottle of water and taking a few drinks. As Felix asked how he was feeling Nathan wiggled his legs a bit picking up both feet one by one. Noticing he was starting to feel pretty recharged. His legs no longer feeling like they were made of Jelly. His body feeling relaxed and ready to go for a little longer. He stuck his tongue out at Felix as he dove in to begin a relentless tickling assault this quickly becoming a regular thing for the two boys. The only difference this time is Nathan didn't seem to be backing down in fact he was doing everything he could to try and get the upper hand and pin Felix to the ground though the heavy skates on his feet were not making things easy.

Felix had just finished a long swig of water letting our a satisfied noise of refreshment while doing so. He saw his previously exhausted friend seemed to be feeling a little better as he wiggled a little in place - leading Felix but start if only briefly start planning the next stage of the lessons. So to say he was caught off guard by the sudden tickling assault was a bit of an understatement not expecting his friend to have this much energy in him.

While under normal circumstances, Felix would easily be able to beat Nathan in almost any physical challenge that was not 'who is taller', that rule didn't seem to mean much here with Felix unprepared and laid down on the ground openly like this. Reflexively Felix's body tried to guard his flanks as the ticking pokes came in, squirming and trying to pull away. Yet laying as he was he just couldn't move away enough to stop Nathan's assault as the other boy practically sat atop him and pinned him down. Every time Felix tried to make to retaliate against Nathan's unrelenting onslaught, he would kept getting countered back - Nathan finding Felix's most sensitive spots just causing him to curl up helplessly in laughter. "Okay you win, you win!" Felix called out not that with all the movement Nate would be able to make out his words. He did try and squirm to push Nate off him, and while he could feel his friends feet slip with only wheels and nothing to dig in it ended up not mattering much as Nathan just leveraged his bodyweight atop his torso. The extra couple lbs each skate added arguably helping more than hindering in this case, slightly dampening Felix's squirming attempts to get Nathan off him - Felix being soo hyper-ticklish not able to coordinate anything as long as Nathan kept himself sat atop and poking at the sensitive spots all over his neck and torso.

Felix could have maybe pushed Nathan off but in the state of laugher and position he was in, he'd just have to muster all his strength and push hard in a way that might've maybe hurt his friend - which Felix just wouldn't do. Nathan as a result becoming the clear victor as Felix eventually just became a helpless, tired out, curled up ball of laughter on the ground - pinned down by his victorious friend kitted out in safety gear like a conquering commander in full armor standing (sitting) atop his fallen foes. Even after Nathan eventually stops Felix not able to much than stay all squirmed up and lightly giggle as he waited for his body to calm down.

Jack glanced at the ground as he finished and Asher began speaking. The topic was a bit awkward for him, and something he usually didn't talk about, especially since he never talked about his feelings and always tended to bottle up his emotions and thoughts. He shrugged as Asher spoke, still looking a little off to the side and down at the ground, only looking up at the boy when he seemed to pause and choke on his own words a little bit. He cocked his head a bit to the side in interest and slight confusion as Asher told him about his insecurities about his arms. He wanted to press him further and maybe ask some questions on the matter but decided not to because he felt it would definitely be overstepping his boundaries and that the topic was probably a sore one for the boy. He looked down at Asher's arms quickly as he spoke about it and then back down at the ground as to not draw too much attention to it. He noticed that the boy was wearing a long sleeved shirt despite it being a summer night. He had never really noticed until now that the boy seemed to cover his arms up. Jack really only wore long sleeves when he was wearing his Sharks jersey, which he was tonight. Being from the warm suburbs of San Jose, California, Jack never really wore too many long sleeved shirts. If it ever dipped into the colder temperatures, the boy would usually slip on a hoodie, usually one with the Sharks logo on it. But Jack didn't dwell on the thoughts about his arms too long since he didn't want to bring it up to Asher because he didn't feel it was right for him to do so. He couldn't help but wonder though why Asher didn't like anyone seeing his arms. He looked down at his own lap as Asher began to speak again.

Jack's attention was captured however, when Asher spoke about friends. The boy looked up at the young teen sitting beside him as he listened. He frowned a bit and looked down at the ground again as he brought up the topic of friends. Friends of course was something that was hard to come by for Jack, but the boy also didn't exactly go out of his ways to make new friends anyways. Jack had always preferred to be a lone wolf, so he was completely fine being a loner. He always preferred to be by his lonesome. The only reason he really had friends was because of his travel hockey teams, and because there were a few kids around his age on his block that he would always play street hockey with.

But as Asher explained his past a bit to Jack and about his experiences with making friends, it all made sense to Jack. He now understood a bit better why Asher was such a jerk to him and why he always acted all tough and confident. While it certainly didn't excuse his earlier behavior, Jack understood the way Asher felt. He figured that never being the popular kid had negatively effected Asher which is why he had so many problems with others. Asher bringing up not being the most popular kid caused Jack to think a bit about his past too. Jack was never the most popular kid, but he was never the weird kid people tried to avoid. In fact, it was usually quite the opposite. The difference was, Jack never desired to be the popular kid and was perfectly fine just being an average Joe in the crowd of people. However, the boy could have had the opportunity to be a popular kid. He had the looks and played sports, so he surely could have been a popular jock. But he instead chose to be humble about his sport talents and tended to hang out alone, only occasionally with a few of his friends, but even those meetings were never initiated by Jack himself. Jack thought back to his days in elementary and middle school. He would almost always attempt to sit alone at lunch, and when he wasn't sitting alone at lunch, he was sitting silently (mostly against his will) with some of the other sporty kids and some of his friends. All throughout his life he had been a quiet and reserved child. But again, Jack was never the extremely popular kid in school. He thought back on the many times different boys and at often times, girls, tried to talk with him and become his friend, but he shoved them off for the most part. He certainly had good looks for his age and was crushed on by a few girls in elementary school all the way up until middle school, but he never thought anything of it nor cared. He always stayed humble, and stayed quiet and to himself. Jack always seemed to be just kind of "there," always tagging along with his small group of friends and at times, just sitting there at the popular sporty kid lunch tables, but he rarely spoke a word. One of the things he dreaded about coming to the home was the fact that he would be in close proximity to other kids practically all the time. Conversely, he had hoped that since the home was much smaller than a school, it would be easier to just not have to talk to other people so he could go about his day on his own without any social contact or interactions. Jack then also thought about his friends, many of which he never got to say any sort of goodbyes to, as the move to the home and his parents' deaths were so sudden. While yes, he had some people he considered friends in school, he actually wasn't too sad about leaving them behind. The only real person he truly missed a bit was his good buddy Mitch. Mitch was the only kid Jack was truly close with, and he even kept many of his feelings and emotions to himself with Mitch. It was just in Jack's nature to be quiet and to keep many things to himself.

He sighed after a tiny bit of awkward silence while the two boys thought and contemplated about their pasts. He then looked up from the ground and back at Asher who was sitting next to him. "Yea I was never too popular either, not that it really mattered to me... I guess I've just not really been good at making friends, but it's fine I don't really mind." Jack just shrugged his shoulders. As depressing as it might have seemed, the boy truly didn't care whether or not he had friends. He was happy alone for the most part.

The two boys wrestled for victory for a few minutes. Nathan surprised when it seemed he was getting the upper hand and sure enough before he knew it Felix seemed to be surrendering as he stopped fighting back. Nathan stopped tickling his "concurred foe " He sat atop Felix with a huge smile on his face laughing and feeling quite proud of himself for being successful in his goal of pinning Felix down. Nathan looked down at the boy beneath him. Felix undoubtedly working up a sweat during this exchange he smiled down at him admiring the young boy's features. He gently brushed some of Felix's hair from his face his hand lingering on the Boys cheek for a few moments. Oh not again!! Nathan thought as he felt the same feeling from earlier in the day return his legs weak, heart Racing and stomach feeling like it was going to explode.

Nathan quickly scrambled to get off of Felix in case what he feared actually came true. Nathan stood up suddenly completely forgetting he had skates on. He quickly looses his balance realizing the mistake he has made as he begins falling to the ground. Luckily the boy lands in the soft grass only causing the wind to get knocked out of him as he falls. "ow" he mutters quietly as he recovers from his fall. The symptoms of his "sickness" seeming to have gone away being instead replaced by a little bit of embarrassment as he realized how that how thing must have looked to Felix. Rolling over to face Felix's direction he let out a bit of a chuckle as the embarrassment settled in.

Nathan then sat up leaning over Felix a bit to grab his water as well as Felix's phone which ad both been discarded in the grass during Nathan's assault. Nathan sips his water a bit as he types out a message on the phone. "well I think I can go another round on the skates... Probably though it did take a lot out of me to pin you down. You my friend are strong Idk how I won!!" composing the message took some time as Nathan seemed torn what to say typing, smiling, frowning, and then shaking his head and starting over again several times before finally handing the short message over with a bit of a victorious smile across his face.

Felix was just out of it completely after that assault from Nathan, every nerve twitching sensitive even after Nathan stopped with his body continuing to try and curl up and hide from further tickling. All the squirming and back and fourth wrestling, the constantly uncontrolled laughter and having his friend keeping him pinned to the ground actually managing to take a lot of the steam out of Felix. His chest hurt from laughing, feeling a burning from the muscles in his chest where he couldn't stop laughing. He didn't even register as Nathan came to brush some of his sweaty hair to the side and seemed to blush up.

It wasn't until the familiar clatter, oof and 'ow' noises Felix as a skater was very familiar with rang out from Nathan's fall that he managed to start gaining back some slight semblance of composure and he tried to sit himself up, wiping sweat off his brow half in tears still from the laughing. He wanted to try and say something to Nathan here but what few words he could manage through the giggle fit quickly losing place as Nathan rolled over with grass in his mouth and began giving an embarrassed laugh of his own. This just setting Felix back off as he burst out laughing again like he was some victim in Batman that the joker had gassed. It overall probably giving Nathan a good 5-10 minutes extra break and rehydrating before Felix was feeling fully up to moving himself.

Looking to Nathan's message Felix just remarked back. "Cus you -like cheated. Getting me while I was down like that!" Felix clearly wasn't upset just, though his defeated tired expression certainly reinforced Nathan's victory and that Felix certainly wasn't up for another round of the same again - not without some time to recharge. He did like the compliment that he was strong, giving a slight prideful glint but it did little vs the humiliating defeat and fatigue now in his system. Felix none the less pulled himself to his feet and offered out a hand to help his friend up, taking back his phone in the process. "Kay, then a final lesson and a basic test for today. You had all that fight in you there - time for you to actually skate to the house, back and then to the house again until you can do it!" Felix declaring as he began to explain likely hardest part of the lesson for today.

Felix giving Nathan instructions the entire time began to try and teach his friend a few different ways to push off, and ways to try and propel himself around the car park. At first letting Nathan hold onto Felix's hands for stability but providing no aid in moving as he first tried, likely barely being able to even shuffle forwards and possibly just sliding in place. As Nathan kept trying though Felix would keep demonstrating footwork - hoping for Nathan to slowly turn the shuffle into a bit of a walk-and-glide, or possibly a sketchy walk-stumble-glide.
The initial shuffle to the house likely taking the longest. The plan was though as Nathan completed each crossing he'd hopefully start figuring out how to build and keep momentum. With constant little reminders from Felix hopefully Nate would be able to combine all the smaller lessons he'd been given today: on balance, gliding, posture, breaking and now basic pushing and skating. Felix gradually trying to lessen how much support he was giving until he was simply walking backwards, arms out to catch Nathan should be need it.

Felix constantly trying to encourage and support Nathan as he made his way, even if he looked tired out and his legs were turning to jelly. Felix knew it was a tough order given how non-athletic Nathan seemed but, he was determined to try and get his friend actually skating (even if it was almost-guaranteed to be slowly, and sketchily, arms wobbling, in a semi-straight line across a parking lot, only barely able to turn himself around) by himself before the end of this first session! He wanted Nathan to have had a good time and actually feel like he could skate if he ever wanted to come back to do it again, even if it was just a short distances.
