Asher had quite the day out and about trying to accomplish his mission of finding the perfect stick for Jack. Shopping around asking lots of questions and looking at hundreds of options. He learned a lot about hockey though and the science behind the stick and so many other random facts. He had to admit after hearing about nothing but hockey all day he kinda wanted to watch a game the sport piqued his interest for sure. But finally he had returned home with a blue Bauer nexus geo composite stick with Jack printed on the shaft. Asher slipped in through the back door not even noticing Felix out on the Basketball court. Mission Successful! he thought as he stepped inside letting out a sigh of relief. He turned to head up the back stairway when he heard something he was really hoping he wouldn't.

"Mr. Miller! so kind of you to join us tonight!" oh crap Asher thought as he rolled his eyes turning to meet Mrs. Richardson with a fake Smile, "Mrs. Richardson! hi how are ya. what a beautiful day today huh? Fancy seeing you here. Anyways nice chat I enjoyed catching up lets do it again sometime. But I have to go." Asher turned hoping to evade her wrath knowing it would be in vain. "ah ah ah not so fast young man you know the rules you must have approval to leave the property. And you young man have been gone all day! I was worried sick about you. These rules exist...." she paused for a moment before changing course and starting again " look I know you are and always have been a very independent person but I need to know where you are. If something bad happens and I have no clue where you are how could I do anything to help? I'm not going to sit hear and give you the same lecture I always do. You've heard it a hundred times and clearly its not working. So instead lets get to the point Asher. If you sneak out again I will Call the cops and let them keep you in juvey for a few days understood? Asher gulped loudly as he nodded to the clearly upset woman before him "good! carry on then dinner in ten minutes." With that Mrs. Richardson turned and left Asher standing there in shock for a few minutes before he turned and continued his way upstairs to jacks room. As he arrived at Jack's door he set the stick off to the side out of view before knocking. He cleared his throat a bit before speaking "Hey Jack it's me Asher."

Jack was just about to head out of his room to get to dinner a bit early when he heard a voice and a knock on his door. It was a familiar voice, so Jack opened the door like he planned to do anyways. He wondered what the boy could possibly want now.

Jack opened his door and timidly peaked his head through the door. "A- Asher? W- what's up?" the boy asked, a bit confused to see Asher once again.

Eveyln had been sitting on a mat she had unrolled across her carpet, mind at ease. Deep breaths, lost in thoughts, emptying her mind. She had made this part of her daily ritual at this point, faithfully intertwined with her other practices. Breath in, and brea- [ANNOUCEMENT] -th out. Evelyn looked up at a small bedside clock she had in the room and sighed a little - it appeared her meditation was over sooner than expected.

The girl brought herself to her feet, and briefly move over to her desk to un-silence her phone and put it back in her pocket. Her thoughts wondering slightly as she peered outside in the direction of the sun who here at mid-summer was far from yet setting but still it was always a re-. *KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK* minded her of times she wou- *KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK*

Evelyn's train of thought and reminiscence derailed as she heard a very familiar knocking pattern at the door. Her head quickly turned and she made her way over unlocking the door and opening it to meet her visitor. "Evening Nathan" She signed to him, her own expression looking amused at Nathan's overly grumpy one. She had seen Nathan and Felix interacting earlier the laughter and playful interactions - so she was fairly confident that her plan had worked, making Nathan's expression just funny more than anything, making Ev' laugh to herself.

"Knew what?" She coyly signed back as if she didn't have a clue, before bending her knees a little down to a squat to meet Nathan eye to eye and signing again looking him right in the eye. "Your a smart kid. Knew you figure out what it meant if I gave you that clue." A few moment after signing she winked and gave a playfully smile, ruffling the boy's hair again and standing back up to her full height. Her sign language was taking her a little longer than normal to do, being really no expert in it and only using it frequently with Nathan.

Minnie laid on her stomach on her bed, her tongue sticking out of one side of her lips as she sketched. Her legs slowly swayed back and forth above her as she refined the lines, focusing her energy on the eyes. The eyes were one of the most important parts of the Manwha style, of course she had to pay extra attention to those! She flicked her pencil up with each smoothly curved eyelash, finally pushing her sketchbook back to look at the full image. It was... good! She was proud of it, the lady was pretty, her eyes were sparkly! She smiled, tearing the drawing from her sketchbook and taped it to her wall with her favourite washi tape, adding to the collage of drawings, polaroids and images from magazines that were already there.

She let out a soft sigh. Her mother would have killed her for doing this, wasting all of her time drawing pretty ladies... How was she going to make a living this way? She needed to get a more productive hobby, why couldn't she be into medicine or law? Pretty ladies were far more interesting than those things.

She glanced over at the clock on her bedside table; A little froggy, his mouth being the clock. It was almost dinner time, she better get downstairs! She slipped her shoes on and headed down, hopping down the steps two at a time and humming as she went. Geez, her mind was loud today, so many thoughts, she simply couldn't organise them. She was hungry, sleepy, she wanted to go look for frogs in the garden... no, dinner first, then frogs! Maybe she could draw the frogs. What was for dinner, anyway?

"oh.. Hey umm Dinner smells good huh?" Asher smiled nervously scratching the back of his head. Taking a deep breath in Asher gave a warm smile "okay I'm not here about dinner tho we probably should head down soon.... Umm well I am here because well I'm sure you remember what I said earlier and..." Asher paused for a moment his heart felt as if it was beating out of his chest and he did his best to calm it but it was no use. "well I wasn't joking." he said reaching over and grabbing the hockey stick from where it rested pulling it into Jacks view.

"I know you told me not to and said I didn't need to blah blah blah... But I warned you I am very stubborn so here is your new stick as promised. I hope the length and everything is right I did as much research as I could asked a ton of questions so hopefully they pointed me in the right direction. I even got your name on it! which seemed like a cool option so I went for it ya know... tho they looked at me kinda wired when I gave them your name who knows what that was about.... since you weren't there I just went with the grip type that felt best to me so I hope you like it...if not they said we can get it re-gripped or whatever." Asher was just rambling on and on his nerves taking over as he rapidly spoke not even sure what was coming out of his mouth at the moment. This rambling would likely continue until interrupted.

Jack raised a suspicious eyebrow as the boy commented on the aroma of dinner. He wondered what he was really here for. Soon the boy would have his answer though. Jack leaned forward a bit and peaked his head out a little bit more from his door. His eyes widened in surprise as Asher showed him a brand new hockey stick. The boy opened his door all the way and stood in the doorway of his room, his mouth wide open in shock.

The boy just stood there in pure shock and awe as Asher explained what he had to go through to get the new hockey stick for him. He was extremely touched that Asher would go through all of that trouble just to get him a fancy new hockey stick. Jack certainly didn't think he was that special or worth this much time and effort from anyone. "A- Asher!" he began, his mouth still wide open and trying to hold back a huge smile, "Y- you didn't need to do this for me! I- I- I can't believe this!" he said in disbelief as he slowly took the new hockey stick from Asher and lightly gripped it in his hands. He held it up to his face and examined it. It was a top-end stick from a well-known name brand. The boy was surprised at its excellent quality. His eyes widened even more when he saw his name. "JACK," written on the shaft of the stick. The wide open mouth turned into a big smile as he read his name.

"Asher... it's- amazing!" Jack said smiling softly. He stood there unable to put his gratitude into words as he held the new hockey stick in his hands, admiring it. "Thank you," he said quietly as he turned around to prop the hockey stick up in a corner of his room. He turned back to Asher and stood back in the doorway of his room. "I can't believe you did this.... all just for me..." he said looking down at his feet. "You're a- a-...." Jack struggled to verbalize his words, "You're a good dude...." the boy finally spit out, as he looked up at Asher and gave him a small smile.

Nathan rolled his eyes clearly not satisfied by her answer " But you could have just told me!!! Like you knew like an hour before I did that I was gay and liked Felix!!! that aint right lady that's big life changing stuff that I need to know about." he signed clearly at least half joking around. At this point Nate had so many things he wanted to ask but he had no clue where to start. Nate knew he always felt like he was different from other boys his age but just assumed that was because he was deaf never in his life did he think it was for this reason. Sure he never felt the same way about girls other boys seemed to but he never felt that way about boys either and just thought he wasn't interested yet. But not he saw everything in a totally new light.

In the end Nates busy mind settled on what he felt was the most important question at the moment. As he prepared to ask said question his posture slumped a bit and his face took on a bit of worry and sorrow. "How do I know if he likes me? and what if he is straight?" He signed slowly clearly not sure if he wanted answers to the questions. But this was all new to him he had no clue how to deal with any of this and just hoped Evelyn could help. As he awaited a response his stomach grumbled hungrily causing Nathan to remember he had forgotten all about lunch and was now starving. He placed a hand n his rumbling stomach moving it in circles hoping to at least temporarily shut it up.

Felix's attempt at an overtime game is cut short as she see's Asher return back from apparently sneaking off the grounds, immediately stiffening up and eyes sharply following him like one might watch a dangerous animal - completely stopping his game. He guessed Asher had snuck off ground at least judging by the distant but clearly disciplinary reaction of Mrs Richardson standing on the steps outside the house. Felix noted the hockey still he was carrying, raising a confused expression as he kinda just stood there with the ball.

Once Asher snuck inside, Mrs Richardson then looking over and calling for Felix to come inside. Felix letting out a disgruntled whine at being asked to come inside. He chucked the ball into the nearby basket he found it in and gently glided along along the path up to the front door. ["Everything okay?"] the lady asked, to which Felix just kinda nodded "Yeah. Just was hoping to get another few shots in..." but it was clear something was wrong - Felix tilting his head to look around past her inside the hall looking for Asher, his blue eyes scanning the room cautiously.
Mrs Richardson making a simple note of it but leaving it for the moment, not having enough to go back. ["Well it's nearly time for Dinner, come inside, and get them off before we eat?"] She replied to the boy, knowing based on his case file she actually had to specify that. Felix quickly making his way up the few steps and inside as effortlessly as anyone would without having skates on. "Kay." Felix just nodding as he gently glided past her keeping at a slow-indoor pace as his rolled inside.

As he idly rolled through the entry hall on-route to the dinning room Felix slowed to a little letting a dark-haired girl who must have been around his age go ahead of him (Minnie). "Huh, oh hi there." Felix after taking a moment skating gently around behind and then rolled over to the dining room door in a swift precise motion, coming to a very well controlled stop to hold the dinning room door open for her. Felix subconsciously again feeling mildly annoyed at his height comparing himself with everyone - even with his skates still on she was still a tiny bit taller. "..Oh urm, I don't think you were in the main room when I met everyone... I'm the new kid who just go there today.. Urm, you can call me Felix!" He tried to introduce himself with a smile on his face, as the boy gently followed her inside.

Evelyn actually had this long blank look on her face for a moment as Nathan signed back, clearly confused for a moment before a proverbial ball dropped. "I just thought about it being your first crush. Forgot about the whole boy part." Evelyn's expression as completely flat if maybe lost in thought, no playful smile - her scatter-brained self legitimately not processing this yet. "Well I was still right, you did figure it out." She smiled at later half of her signing clearly not finding it that big a deal, and all pretty cute.

As for the second part, Evelyn's expression suddenly flattens - not more playfulness as she just turns and closed the door to her room and begins walking down the hall towards the dining hall. "No can do. Boy on boy not my department. Just hang out, take risks, you figure it out. Or speak with Ash." She signed to Nathan before starting to briskly walk, almost as if she wanted to avoid the topic. Quickly turning on her heels to walk backwards. "Now lets get dinner." Something was suddenly up with Ev', the normal unphased calmness wasn't there, looking a little flustered at the question. She was gritting her teeth, she had no interest in a long chat about telling if somebody liked someone or just relationships in general beyond teasing the kid.

Ev' nearly walking into a wall as she tried to sign while walking backwards, her mind distracted and also clearly not as used to it as Nathan. Thenbumping into Dez' leaving their room as Ev' stumbled and tried to correct course. "Huh..? Oh evening Desirae, didn't see you." She feinted it simply being another one of her sometimes real, sometimes staged empty-headed moments.

Minnie braced herself as a kid a little smaller than her sped towards her, ready to be crashed into. She was more than relieved when he managed to brake in time, at least he was in control... but she could see herself crashing into him at some point in the future. She didn't recognise him, either... Strangers were scary, even when they were small. What if they were mean? She couldn't know, she would have to get to know him first... That was the scary part.

"Oh-- Hi," She replied with an awkward smile, trying her best not to look scared of the small boy. Oh, so he was new.
"N-No, I was visiting my auntie..." She explained. Though her auntie wasn't equipped to look after them full time, she still took her and her sister out sometimes. They had gone to a cafe that morning and their auntie had bought them a few essentials, socks, underwear, extra snacks to hide from the others... Haewon wasn't very appreciative but Minnie enjoyed herself.

"You can call me Minnie... most people can't pronounce my real name," She told him with a smile. She felt a hand on her shoulder as Haewon passed them, towering over the both of them.
"That's why you teach them to pronounce it," Haewon told her, "Her name is Minyoung. Min. Young." She turned to Felix with a stern look before heading into the dining room. Whereas Minnie had grown tired of correcting people, Haewon was still determined that they use their Korean names.

"Uhhh... Minnie is okay," She reassured Felix, fidgeting with her hands.

Asher stopped talking awkwardly as Jake spoke up realizing he was rambling on. He smiled scratching the back of his head. "Maybe I didn't have to but I felt like I needed to." he smiled warmly at him as he let him soak in the situation. "Well I don't know about that... but I am glad you like it... Hopefully Mrs. Richardson doesn't actually send me to Juvey but I guess time will tell." he laughed awkwardly at his probably not so funny joke. As he admired how the boy looked with a smile on his face he couldn't help but smile as his stomach turned a bit.

okay Asher time to get a handle on this crap! This isn't the first time you know how to handle a crush just chill out! He thought to himself before speaking up again. " Well we should probably head down for dinner wouldn't want to be late!" turning to head down to the main level. "besides you have a hockey game to watch in a little bit... and I don't want to do anything else to upset Mrs. Richardson." He added as he turned back to wait for Jack to join him for the walk down to the dinning room.
coded by reveriee.

"Well Asher," he said softly through a smile as he looked at the boy, "I appreciate all of this... I- I really do...." His smile soon turned into a look of concern as Asher mentioned the possibility of being sent to Juvey. "J- Juvey?" Jack questioned him, raising an eyebrow. But the boy simply nodded as Asher suggested they head down to dinner, pushing the thoughts out of his head. Jack took a few steps back in his room, looked at himself in a mirror, ran a few fingers through his soft brown hair, and walked out of his room with Asher. He forgot about his concern regarding Asher mentioning Juvey as a smile came to his face as Asher reminded him about the hockey game he had to watch after dinner on the now reserved TV. "Yea, let's go," the young boy agreed softly as he began making his way downstairs to the dining hall with Asher. As he prepared for the short walk from his room, down the stairs, and to the dining room, a thought came into the boy's head. "I can't believe this," the boy thought to himself in his head, "I'm walking with someone to dinner! I'm hanging out with someone! This is new..."

Dez Hess
Location: Hallway outside her room
Interactions: Nate Sharpe, Evelyn Winters

Dez got their pancakes. In the grand scheme of things, it might not’ve mattered, but those warm, strawberry-covered morsels made her day.

They spent most of their time holed up after that, something that while not unusual had grown less common the longer they spent in the home, acclimating to its people. When the voice rang out about dinner, she listened—She’d only tried to ignore it once and didn’t care to repeat the experience, especially when dinner… wasn’t awful, actually.

She put down the book she’d been reading, something that didn’t hold her interest as much as she’d been hoping in her quest to discover a new Dez hidden under whatever her parents had made her. It wasn’t a tragedy, though she stared at the book with a hint of disdain before bouncing up, heading out the door with the bathroom in mind, intent to wash her hands in preparation for dinner.

They did not expect to be bumped into, and it was enough to leave her annoyed, a frown spreading across her face like wildfire. It was only made worse by the use of her full name. Her hand twitched, face for a moment murderous, before she swept it aside and cleared her throat. Violence wasn’t necessary here—She could be civil. She looked away, muttering, “No one uses my full name.” It wasn’t quite the truth, but it was close enough: Only Baba used her first name.

And then she caught sight of Nate and was suddenly reminded of their earlier conversation and, more importantly, her forgotten apology. She waved to him with a smile almost a grimace, unused to apologizing. Once she had his attention, she said, “I wanted to say sorry… about earlier. The whole… waking me up and all. I wasn’t mad at you. I’m just kinda…” Like that. A flaw that cut deep into her and made friendship more difficult than it had any right to be. She shrugged.

Felix tried his best to be friendly enough here, giving a positive smile following Minnie and Haewon inside the dinning hall. Again keeping himself at a slow-walking pace of a roll, not intending to race around at the second. The boy craning his head up to track as the older sister went past to correct Minnie. Felix wasn't intimidated by the towering height or anything, I mean it was nothing new for him. "Min- Young?" Felix tried repeating after Haewon as they walked on-past towering overhead. "Min Young." Felix repeating again a few times trying to make sure he was saying it properly. Clearly making a genuine effort to try and not say it wrong.

"Well I can call you Minnie or Min Young. Whichever you prefer!" The boy giving a friendly almost infectious grin, he was clearly a lot more outgoing and didn't really have any hesitation talking with strangers. Felix then quickly picking a seat, rolling over to it and sitting himself down. The boy then reaching down and unfastening the clasp on the skates and untying the laces tucked behind the tongue.

"Is she your sister?" Felix inquired poking his head back up from bellow the table, clearly referring to Haweon. "I like both your accents." Felix then added looking at Haweon a little as he said that "Where you from?", he inquired clearly not recognising which country it was from beyond 'somewhere in Asia' - yet he sounded genuine, just trying to be friendly and curious about it. Poking his head back under the table for another few seconds as he finished taking off the skates just as requested.

Felix then removed his wristguards and stuffing them into the skates he'd now taken off. Then he just tried to sit down properly trying make himself comfortable as he waiting for everyone. Felix had left the kneepads and elbow pads on but that wasn't unusual for him, they didn't restrict his movement at all and he wore them enough that it felt normal to the boy to have them on (sometimes feeling more conscious when he didn't have them on), no different to a bracelet or something.

Minnie couldn't help but feel embarrassed when her sister corrected people. She knew it was important to her but she just wished she could speak for herself... She smiled a little at Felix as he tried to pronounce her name.
"Either is fine..." She reassured him as she followed him into the dining hall, taking a seat beside him so they could keep chatting. Haewon had sat on the opposite side of the table, only a few chairs away.

"Oh-- Yes," She replied with a smile. Haewon was a few years older than her, though she was practically her mother, too, "Her name is Haewon."

Haewon seemed to overhear their conversation, piping up as he asked where they were from.
"L.A.," She replied, leaning on her elbows, "Why, where are you from?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Uhhh... we are from Korea," Minnie added, knowing Haewon was just being difficult. It was clear Haewon spoke English much better than Minnie did. She was older when the two came to the US and had had more time to learn English before moving. Minnie, on the other hand, had to learn on the job which made school more difficult. She leaned a little closer to Felix.
"She is just grumpy... She always gets grumpy after we see Auntie Do-Yun," She whispered.

She watched him remove his knee pads and stuff them into his skates.
"Do you skate everywhere?" She asked, peering at his wheels before looking back up at him, "That sounds fun..." Walking everywhere was boring, anyway...

Nathan Groaned a bit clearly not happy with Evelyn's answer "But he's such a grouch!" he signed back following her down the hall. Dinner did sound really good right now so he couldn't argue with heading down for food. Nate saw Dez just before Ev' ran into them but before he could warn her they had already collided causing Nathan to chuckle a bit. "Maybe you should leave the backwards walking to me." he Joked Before Dez came over to him. "Oh....That no big deal I'm a little grouchy when I wake up sometimes too... I'm not mad or anything don't worry about it." he added a reassuring smile as the Ipad spoke. He was being truthful their earlier encounter hadn't really bothered him at all. He had just felt a bit bad about waking her up when she clearly had wanted to sleep longer.

With that the three of them continued on to dinner. " oh Dez I figured out my problem!.. Turns out I have a crush on Felix... So that's interesting." he added as they reached the bottom of the steps turning to the dinning room. As they entered the room Nathan quickly scanned the tables spotting Felix straight ahead back turned talking to Minnie. A mischievous smile crept across his face as he turned to the two older girls holding a finger to his mouth to signal for them to be quiet. Nathan quietly crept up behind Felix before suddenly grabbing his sides in an attempt to tickle him as payback for earlier. As he released the boy Nathan turned to Minnie giving a joyful wave between his laughter "Hi Minnie!! Did you have fun with your Auntie?" the IPad spoke as he greeted the girl.

Felix kind of blinked a bit as Haewon responded, confused to the grumpy response to what he intended as a just curious question - not realising why some people might get defensive at such a question. For perhaps different reasons however Haewon accusatorily returning the question struck a nerve back on the boy. Felix's cheerful curiosity immediately replaced with a pained expression. "Urm, well I'm not from LA either. I used to live with my parents up in Bakersfield before the car crash..." The figurative (and almost literal) wound in the boy's heart still very much fresh.

Felix saw Haewon's raised expression and opted not to ask any follow-up questions about Korea, what curiosity he had immediately extinguished in fear she would twist the knife if he tried asking. Felix just nodding to Minnie's whisper though again not wanting to reply on that front.

On the topic of his skating, something he hoped would be safe from Haewon's anger he gave a small smile, leaning down again and spinning one of the wheels on the skate doing his best to keep it in the shadow under the table - showing the LED lights on the wheels that weren't as visible as them came in through the bright summer-daylight flicker on with it's white light before hushly replying. "I wish... But... Can't get away with it at school." Felix replied clearly joking but it was partly true, if the boy had the choice about it he probably would spend the entirety of certain days gliding around on them. Felix feeling arguably more comfortable on them than just walking normally! Nearly always however someone would ask him to take them off for one reason or another.

Yet then suddenly Felix felt a shock like lightning to to his system as Nathan snuck up and got his revenge-tickle in on his flanks. Felix going completely helpless in a loud ball of giggled laughter for a few seconds squirming and recoiling on the chair, nearly falling off it if it wasn't for Nathan releasing him pretty quickly. As it turned as Felix was very ticklish. "What- that's wasn't funny!" Felix protested looking back to Nathan with an uncontrolled smile on his face; the boy holding his sides still giggling a little.

Evelyn' in her mentally off-balanced state just kind of blinked as Deserae's expression turned from annoyed, to angry, to... Well she wasn't entirely sure what to call the next few except 'note to avoid' expressions. "Urm, again sorry about that." Ev' hadn't made out what Dez had muttered except for the general pissed off tone. She also had a slight bit of a embarrassed expression and redness to her face as Nathan laughed, her normal composure defiantly lacking as she just quickly signed. "Yeah maybe I will."

She did look to Dez' and Nathan as the two talked and chatted and just decided to continue walking on ahead and just decided to quickly head down towards the dinning room slipping inside trying to reassert some form of her normal, distant composure.

Eveyn' entering swiftly and taking her normal seat that she always went for at dinner, just besides where Haewon had decided to sit herself down today. Ev' peering to the other senior girl who was currently just glaring at the new boy across the table. She hadn't heard the conversion before entering, and so wasn't sure what had annoyed her- or if this was just because she had visited her aunts. Ev' just opted to wait and see what was going.
Keeping to herself as the kids all gathered for dinner.

"Oh," Minnie replied as he mentioned the car crash, "I don't know where Bakersfield is," She added with an awkward giggle. She didn't know where most things were in America, it was just such a big place and she'd never really left L.A. She definitely missed Korea, she knew where everything was... and she was allowed to go down the street to the shop without asking permission... though maybe that wasn't a good thing on her mother's part.

Her eyes lit up as he showed her his light-up roller skates. She was an easily amused kid, anything that lit up was pretty awesome to her.
"You should get heelies so the teachers don't know," She suggested with a soft giggle. She was half joking, though it some heelies for school would be cool.

She squeaked as Felix suddenly jumped, not expecting it. She seemed to relax as she realized he was just ticklish, he wasn't suddenly screaming in pain as she'd expected. Haewon had seen her reaction and had half a mind to tell Nathan off for scaring her like that, she was a jumpy kid, the others should know that by now! She sighed instead, pulling her phone from her pocket and beginning to mindlessly scroll.

Minnie smiled as Nathan spoke to her, waving back to him.
"Yeah! She took me horse riding again!" She grinned. Minnie was proving to be a talented little equestrian though she could only ride when her auntie took her. Meanwhile, Haewon would just watch, she had no interest in such a 'girly' hobby. Her auntie was too much of a stiff to take her axe throwing or shooting...

Minnie seemed to catch herself, her cheeks suddenly flushing red. She wasn't normally this loud, she was just really excited by horse riding.
"She got me a helmet, too, so I don't have to borrow them from the school anymore..." She added with a smile.
"She can afford all this fancy horse stuff but is too busy to look after us..." Haewon muttered under her breath, leaning back in her chair. She was lucky to have family at all, but Haewon didn't see it that way.

As the two boys approached the Dinning room Asher couldn't help but to smile. Mission accomplished He thought to himself as they made their way. Thinking about how crappy this day started and how much better it ended. "So I bet your extra excited to watch the game given that the sharks are playing." Asher commented as he opened the door to the dinning room holding it open for Jack.

After they had both entered Asher headed towards his normal spot waving Jack over "c'mon I sit over here... You should sit with me... That way we can like chat or whatever." Asher was aware that his spot was far more exposed than where Jack usually sat and he Knew Jack liked to be well basically a ghost. But he hoped that their new friendship would help the boy open up a little more or at the very least become more comfortable living here and not feel like he always had to hide and stay away from everyone. Asher took his seat near the head of the first table pulling out the chair next to him. He smiled at Jack as he patted the seat of the chair for the other boy to sit. Them both getting there only moments before dinner was to be served.

"Yea," he smiled, "I'm pretty excited. Haven't watched the Sharks play since I've been home!" he told him as he walked with Asher to dinner. He nodded respectfully as Asher held the door open for him. "How nice," he thought to himself in his head.

"Oh uhh, s- sure," he said to Asher, trying to crack a bit of a smile. This was the first time that anyone had invited Jack to sit with them at dinner. It made sense since Jack had purposely made himself inaccessible and unavailable to the other kids the few days since he has been at the home. As Asher patted the seat next to him, Jack's awkward and uncomfortable smile turned into a real one. "Wow," he thought, "someone ACTUALLY wanting to sit next to me. I can't believe I have a friend.... I think." Jack took his seat right next to Asher, who was at the head of the table. He nervously eyed the other kids sitting at the dinner table, hoping none of them would attempt to talk to him. He didn't know how popular or talkative Asher was with the other kids, so he just hoped that Asher would not drag him into any unwanted conversations with some of the other kids. The boy sat as he eagerly awaited dinner to be served. He heard his stomach growl and he realized his hunger. He hadn't eaten in hours. He rubbed his stomach as he waited for something to be put on his plate, and soon to be in his belly.

Jack couldn't believe this was actually happening. While it seemed insignificant to some, the fact that Jack had made a friend and was sitting with this friend was a huge step for him. Jack was shy and timid and always had a hard time getting out there and making new friends. He did, however, have no desire to make anymore friends. One was enough he figured, he didn't need anymore. He hated being around lots of people.

[As six o'clock rolled around and all the kids found their seats the houses kitchen staff emerged first placing an assortment of sliced Cheddar Biscuits , brown rice, salad, and mashed potatoes in the center of the tabled before coming back around and serving each kid their choice of either Beef or Vegetable stew placing a nice warm bowl in front of each. It may not have been the Ideal weather for such a dish but due to budgets sometimes the cooks just had to work with what they have available. The room got quiet as Mrs. Richardson walked in standing at the front of the room. "everyone please thank our lovely chefs for providing us with such a delicious smelling meal." She paused as thank you's rang through the room " I would also like to announce that tomorrow afternoon we will be having a beach party for the end of summer you are not required to come but it should be a lot of fun we will be grilling out playing games and swimming. You are each welcome to invite two people from outside the home to join in on the fun. Now without further delay everybody enjoy your supper and have a great night." She finished before leaving the room Mrs. Richardson Always left for the night at dinner time leaving rest of the staff in charge. The room once again filled with noise as kids resumed their conversations while eating. ]

Jack listened to Mrs. Richardson as he always did. He was quiet and respectful every time she spoke. He licked his lips as he looked down at his plate. His stomach growled again with anticipation.

However, Jack was temporarily distracted from his hunger as Mrs. Richardson mentioned the end of summer beach party. His eyes widened as he gulped nervously. If there was one thing he hated, it was parties. Parties meant lots of people. Jack made a mental note to certainly not attend the party as he tried to shove it out of his mind.

“Really why you laughing then” Nate smiled back as he took a seat next to Felix. Keeping his eyes on Minnie as she enthused about her day. “oh that's great!!! I'm glad you had fun Minnie!” by that point Mrs. Richardson walked in Nate watched carefully as she spoke as to not miss a single word. ooo a beach party! That could be fun he thought as she announced the news.

After she left Nathan fug in to his choice of vegetable stew ad some bread he was starving and the food was heavenly to him right now. Nathan couldn't help but periodically glance over at the skates next to him on the floor. just try it tonight get it over with you know your not gonna like it so just try it and then it won't haunt you anymore. Go ahead, ask him. Nathan debated with himself as he ate for whatever reason even tho the idea of skating terrified him he couldn't get it out of his head this was a problem Nate had never had before and he didn't I'd have a clue how to deal with it. Finally he took a deep breath in before veary nervously typing on his Ipad “ hey Felix you think after supper maybe you could show me how to.... Umm skate?” he looked over to the boy awaiting his answer this he regretted asking almost instantly.

"So... I'm Guessing you probably don't want to go to the party tomorrow?" Asher quizzed before taking a bite of his food looking over to Jack. " You don't seem like a party kid anyway." he added basically answering his own question. Before grabbing a couple of Cheddar Biscuits putting one on his plate and the other on Jack's " you have to try one they are literally my favorite." He gave Jack an enthusiastic smile as he returned to his meal. It wasn't long before he was interrupted though by another kid sitting nearby. "Hey Asher whos the new guy? You replace Jordan already?" The boy Joked with Asher but he was in no mood for those kind of jokes the very mention of his Ex's name causing his mood to shift and fist clench tightly.

"NO!! This is Jack he lives here... But you wouldn't know that cause your too busy being a self absorbed prick all the time.... and don't talk about my Ex or ill punch your face in got it!?!" Asher's voice was raised but not quite to shouting levels and the amount of venom in his statement was far beyond Anything he had said earlier in the day. " Woah man sorry I was just joking around...Ill leave you alone then Jeez... Nice to meet you Jack." the boy said before leaving the table and finding a new place to sit. Asher Watched as the boy left before retuning to his food. " Sorry about that." Asher muttered quietly in between bites of his food.

Jack looked up at Asher and shook his head from side to side quickly signifying he meant "no" silently. Jack gave him a little tiny smile to let him know he appreciated the gesture as he said "Thanks," softly.

Jack cringed internally as he heard another kid nearby speaking. The boy was not in the mood, really ever, to be talking to new people. He watched as the boy joked with Asher, the joke clearly irritating Asher. Jack just awkwardly kept eating as he looked on at the exchange of words between the two boys. "Jordan? Replacement?" Jack wondered in his head. He had no clue who this Jordan was or why this kid joked around saying Jack was a replacement. His eyes widened as he internally questioned what was going down.

Jack's eyes widened even more as he saw Asher getting hostile. That's when he learned who Jordan was" Asher's ex. The boy could tell it was a sore subject for Asher, so he decided to avoid bringing it up in any sort of conversation. Asher's voice was venomous, Jack noticed it was even more harsh than how Asher had spoken to him out on the basketball court. Jack just sat there awkwardly, occasionally taking a bit or two out of food.

As the boy next to them addressed Jack, he simply silently nodded as he saw the boy walk away and find another place to sit. "W- what was all that about?" Jack asked quietly, immediately regretting doing so. He figured he should have just kept his mouth shut like usual.
