Realistic or Modern Salvation

Jason waited until they were up to the roof. He took another look around the hospital and smiled. "I really hope this works..."

Rue reached the roof first and immediately headed towards the tarp, now understanding what the bulk was that laid beneath it. "Wanna help me with this?" she called back to Adrian, finding it hard to contain her excitement at getting to see such a rare sight. In her mind planes and helicopters had become as extinct as the dinosaurs and it was a safe assumption though now an exception sat right in front of her.

"Ready!" Rue called back, already gripping her side of the tarp tightly. Moving in the same direction as Adrian she felt the tarp giving way as they both pulled it and with an extra tug her side revealed the metal contraption it hid underneath. "Let's just set it somewhere to the side for now." Rue suggested, still gripping her side as her eyes sought out a place to put the tarp where it would be safe enough.

Picking a place that seemed far enough to be out of the way Rue dropped her end, taking a few seconds to bundle it haphazardly. She didn't waste too much time on it though, they could always raid a store if they lost this tarp and get another. "So, did you know Mau was hiding a helicopter up his sleeve? Figuratively of course. I had no idea myself." Rue said to Adrian, watching the door all the while and waiting for Jason to arrive.

Jason speaks over the radio, "You guys ready up there?" Jason leans against the wall near the fire alarm.

"This ought to be fun." Rue commented, her eyes finding the radio when it crackled with life but returning to the helicopter almost immediately.

Jason draws his pistol and takes one last breath. 'here we go." He pulled the fire alarm, sending a ringing sound echoing throughout the city. Jason hesitated, taking in the undead corpses rushing towards him. He took shots left and right at the cannibalistic beasts. "Time to go, Jason" he told himself. He hobbled for the stairs when he turned to see the basement doors bust open, letting in hundreds of undead bodies. "Shhhhhit..." Jason dropped his pistol and ran for the stairs, the pain of the bullet in his leg no longer present. He felt the stitching bust open much like the basement doors. He reached the last staircase and collapsed, his leg had given out. With the horde behind him and a stern look on his face, he drug himself backward with one arm toward the door with roof access while his other arm was armed with the shotgun which he pumped by hooking the pump onto his leg and pumping it sending a hot shell rattling to the ground and a slug into whatever was in it's way. He was so close to the other but had no time to grab the radio.

"Is that the fire alarm?" Rue asked Adrian, puzzled. On the roof the wailing was muted but even so the sound was quite clear and incredibly easy to distinguish. Could a fire really have started on one of the floors? It didn't seem likely. And what was that she heard just now? It sounded like gunshots, but that couldn't be right. Then again, what was right or wrong didn't have much say anymore. Nervously fiddling with the sleeve of her dress where the ends had gone ragged she glanced at the street below them and then froze when she saw the Undead streaming out of their various nooks and crannies and all heading towards the hospital. Drawing in a sharp breath her right hand had unsheathed her sword without even thinking. "Jason's in trouble." and only once she said it did she realize it was true. Already she was moving towards the door that led to the inside, fearing what she would find but unwilling to let Jason be taken by the Undead without a fight.

Jason stumbled a bit bit got to his feet and emptied his shotgun into the crowd of the undead. He slammed his body up against the door that lead to the roof, kicking back the murderous bodies.

"Die!" He yelled as he stuck his knife through one's face.

As she neared the door Rue found it impossible to ignore the sound of a gun firing and a sickening chorus of moans from the Undead to go along with it. Without a doubt she knew it was Jason who was fighting, it only made sense. Reaching the door she tugged at the handle with a shaking hand, having more trouble opening it then she should because of nerves. Finally she managed to get a firm grip and and the door swung open, opening to the outside to reveal an inside of a swarming mass of corpses flailing on the stairs and trying to reach Jason. "Oh no." was all she could manage as her eyes widened at the sight of so many Undead reaching for them but quickly she regained her sense. "Get out of there, Mau!" she called, unable to join him because she would only get in the way.
