RWBY: The Years Before: Shadow of Grim

@HoneyBear\-Kat

"Don't worry about them, think of it as a girl's night out! Just some fun between two girls!" Mel replied to the shy fox faunus. "Because I think we could be the best of friends or maybe even..." Mel bit her lip

Take it slow, Melania... She might not be into that sort of stuff

Locke's face turned serious as he took his stance. He took out his weapon and began to fire arrows like mad. Curve didn't seem bothered at all. Locke was a little worried to how to approach this. He knew he had to keep his distance away from Curve so the only way to see what Curve can do to his arrows was firing them and see what happens. He may not be as accurate as Sward but he was still pretty damn good.

Sward's plan was to charge Kuro and jump right before the two would meet, throw down his sword and stun him. Form there he wold land and grip the sword again taking it apart to two blades again. Sward thought this was a great way to test Kuro on his fighting ability as well as to help him expect the unexpected.

KURO MAYONAKA

Seeing as how Sward had leapt over his attempt to swipe his feet out from under him, Kuro ceased his spin and rolled backwards, away from where Sward landed. He had rolled just in time too, as Sward fired a single shot from his weapon at Eclipse. This guy was definitely fast, especially with whatever his Semblance was. Kuro had taken notice that this speed boost came when his guys started glowing green, so he took that as the signal for when Sward used his Semblance. He spun his staff around once and held onto it with a two hand grip evenly separated in the middle. He widened his feet and readied himself to receive Sward's attack.

"I'm not holding back, bro," Kuro replied with a smirk to Sward's provocation for a fight.

@Carnation

Sward grinned underneath his helm. His eyes glowed brighter than ever before. Sward then charged at Kuro. As he was closing the distance Sward saw how Kuro was preparing for his attack. Then as he was a few yards away Sward jumped into the air enclosing the distance even faster. Sward then threw his sword at Kuro who just barely dodged it. Good. Very good. The boy was skilled indeed. Sward said to himself. It smited the ground with a terrible force leaving slightly embedded in the ground. Then as Sward landed he did a somersault he found himself right next to his blade which he gripped with one hand. He then stood up and ripped it out of the ground like it weighed nothing. He was right in front of Kuro now and Sward began to use flurry attacks with the heavy attack.

Azure Snow

The Poor, Confused Girl

"Grr?" She shook her head and tried again,"G-Girl's night?" she looked up at Mel for reassurance. The girl continued on about possibly becoming friends and trailed off when she was going to suggest maybe more, but Azure had already dozed off in thought, blocking Mel out,'What is it that females talk about?' she searched her memory bank. Trying to bring up any recollection of conversations that girls have had around her. Then she remembered girls talking about what boys they thought were cute. Azure's eyes looked at Locke, then at Curve, then back to Mel,'Females talk about the attractive males,' she thought. "Yes." she said aloud, with out realizing. With out another word she looked to the sparring match once again, trying to read the auras of the strangers before her.

She cant read what an aura is capable of, but she can feel a spike in aura energy when a semblance is being used. That detection can help in battle, it would keep her on her toes, keep her aware, and keep her senses sharp to the semblance. However, once again, her mind wandered else where. She looked at those in their matches and raised an eyebrow. With out looking at Mel, she parted her pink lips to speak,"Why must the opposite sex engage in physical conflict soon after meeting each other?" her heterochromic eyes blinked at Sward and her leader, Kuro,"To assert the dominance?" then she looked to Locke who was releasing countless arrows like a mad man,"Establish territory? For show?" finally she looked back to Mel,"They are not really fighting, are they?" Azure didnt quite understand the objective with the sparring match, she couldnt quite grasp the concept that they were sparringn soley for the purpose of practice. Then she looked back to Kuro and Sward,"Are the alphas challenging one another?" Azure thought that since Kuro was their team leader, or "alpha" as she puts it, that maybe Sward was the opposing team's leader. It was hard to tell. She could only assume that the leaders were testing each other. But, she was over analyzing things. Instead of looking at it through a human lense, she looked at the matter through the eyes of a dog.

Mel was delighted to hear Azure take up her offer.

And then Azure asked if the "alphas" were challenging each other, Mel then answered, "Men, that's what they do... Personally I don't see the point in it."

Kuro certainly hadn't seen that move coming. He staggered back to avoid Sward's sword slamming into the ground, tracking him as he flipped in the air while preparing a counter attack. Before he could, though, Sward was right in his face with a flurry of rapid blows. Kuro struggled just to put up a defense, slowly walking back and twirling Eclipse to meet the blade. He poured all the effort he could into meeting Sward's blows with a solid block from either end of his staff. He needed to create an opening to strike, but he didn't see that happening any time soon with Sward's speed. Behind him, he heard Azure and Mel talking, but he couldn't quite hear over the clashing weapons.

After a few seconds of clashing weapons, Kuro decided it was time to switch to offense. He slid his right hand down to the trigger on Taiyo to fire a shotgun blast to propel a swift strike to break Sward's offense. If it works, he'd hope it would stagger him just enough for Kuro to slip in with a series of rapid strikes at Sward's midsection.

@Carnation

Curve blocked shot after shot, keeping his hand behind his back like a fencer. His swings alternated directions, sending the flurry of magic bolts to the left, to the right, up, into the ground. A few went over his shoulders and at his feet, missing their mark, but Locke was pretty proficient with a bow. That was something to keep in mind.

distinct growl of contempt escaped his throat as he decided enough was enough. He set one foot in front of the other, his boots ClaBMp-ing with his shallow, even steps. Lackadaisical almost. But his arm continued blocking the bolts, sparks showering off his blade. Well this was embarrasing. He wouldn't even have to use his semblance.

Curve never ran. Away, nor otherwise. And he was done being used as tareget practice. As soon as he was close enough to Locke, Curve swung his blade arm in a viscious uppercut just as a bolt of magic was released. The shot went wide, and the bow clattered to the ground. Curve finally took his other hand from behind his back and siezed Locke by the collar, hoisting him off the ground. He narrowed his eyes slightly as he inspected the boys face. However, Curve detected no fear, but no agression either. Not even a defence mechanism. The boy did nothing in the split second he was lifted, he didn't even look suprised. To Curve, this was a sign of weakness. Locke was reckless, and lacked strategy. Locke was not fit to lead him, or anyone in Curve's opinion.

OJ watched in suprise as Curve and Sward fought. "DAY-um." he exclaimed. These guys from Shade Academy were fucking animals. Sward, more or less, had completely mastered his semblance and fit it into his combat style. That was something OJ respected, it took skill. And Curve?... Curve was one shady muthafucka. OJ couldn't move anything that far unless he used his semblance. He didn't see Curve use any type of power, at least he didn't think so... There was more to this duo that met the eye. But, the duel with Curve and Locke appeared to be over. And Kuro and Sward's duel seemed to be coming to a close.

With a snap of his arm, Locke was hurled across the room. Curves blade retracted, and his breastplate folded back into a necklace. "You're not worth the time and energy it took me to walk here." Curve said, cracking his neck and relaxing his tense shoulders, the muscles in his body becoming more limber, less taught. He glanced over to see how Sward was doing once he heard the shotgun blast and raised an eyebrow. Even Sward couldn't completely dodge a cone of lead from that distance. He saw red begin to seep through his partners shirt. "Sward," Curve said quietly, taking a few steps closer to the sparring match and dipping his fingers in the sticky liquid pooling on the floor, "You're leaking."

As Sward noticed Locke flying into the air his eyes went back to normal and he lost concentration just long enough for his attack to be broken as he was stagerd back. He was then hit in the midsection causing a red liquid to start pouring out. The attacks suddenly stopped but Sward didn't notice at the time that something was staining his shirt. He regained his momentum and smacked Eclipse out of Kuro's hand and knocked him down. He then placed his left blade near Kuro's neck and pointed the right blade near his midsection. "This is my win friend." After that he sheathed his blades and lent a hand to help Kuro up. Sward then heard Curve's comment when he was helping Kuro up and he looked down to see that his coat was currently stained red. "Nononononononoooo!" He opened his coat up and inside was a juice bock that seemed to have been punctured.

Locke was sitting there on the ground. He knew he couldn't sit there forever but his body wouldn't let him. He knew what he had to do. He had to train more. Get even stronger than before, and with these new additions to his team he set a new goal to achieve what he wanted. First things first. He got up and brushed himself and started to walk over to OJ.

Kuro thought that after he had staggered Sward and gained some ground, things would turn around in favor of him. Boy was he wrong. A second later, Sward disarmed him in one swing with one of his swords and kicked him to the ground. He hit the ground pretty hard, and it hurt a bit. All that confidence he had when he gained some ground went out the window as soon as he got disarmed. Just goes to show how far he could get against a second-year transfer student on about six hours of sleep after already fighting a robot. It wasn't like it hurt his pride. He was still just a first year after all, even if he was a team leader....which could be debated. When Sward held his hand out to help him up, Kuro grabbed it and pulled himself up. Patting Sward on the shoulder when he got up. He didn't even notice the red liquid that stained his shirt until Sward yelled something about a juice box, which he started chuckling at.

"Nice fight dude. You're good for a transfer student. Where'd you come from again?"

Silas Sharpe arrives at the school, entering from the Main Entrance. She looked around, and saw many students roaming the halls, getting to their classes and such. She had heard a commotion from a distance away, noises of combat echo from the Training room. She ran toward the noises, and saw Kuro and Sward sparring with each other. she saw how intense it was, and smiled as she lifted her eyepatch up. "Cool! This is really cool!" she whispered as she walked in, and saw them stop. She looked at them, they looked awesome, especially the one with the Juice Box spill on him. @HoneyBear\-Kat @theManCalledSting @Trundle

Curve wiped his face with his hand. "It's allright Sward. It's been a long day. It's not even dinner yet." He took a knee, careful not to get any of the juice on his black pants. He spoke with the tone of a parent comforting a child. Sward's juice had always been a sensitive spot, and when the juice was gone, nobody was happy. "Look, we'll get you cleaned up, and then we'll eat. You still have your apple juice right? And the straw? That always makes you feel better." He stood up, straightening his tie. "He likes juice." Curve explained to the others. They'd probably not understand. It was something you kinda had to know him for a bit to catch onto. He sized up the Kuro guy. He had a bit of a bag under his eyes, he was obviously tired as well. He at least had some skill. "Good job," Curve said with a slight nod, "Remember what I said about blocking. Get some sleep maybe." With that, he went to take Sward to where he thought the students dorms were.

OJ shrugged at Locke as he came over. "Yo, I should probably let them know where our room is if they don't allready. We should leave together." Locke was probably a bit dejected that he lost, but he still had his everpresent smile. OJ really didn't know how he'd take being insulted by Curve. And what would he do? The guy was built like a TANK.

Azure Snow

The faunus gave a curt nod in response to Mel's answer, and she continued to watch the matches come to a close. Curve defeated Locke with ease, and watching it go down made Azure a little intimidated. However, she had mixed emotions toward the victor. Yes she had grown intimidated, but part of her was annoyed by his arrogance. Despite her shyness, Azure had a bit of a feisty fire in her. And as of this moment, Curve's attitude seemed to be fanning the flames.

The fox was distracted when Curve pointed out Sward's leakage. At first, she thought it was blood due to the deep red color, but her nose said other wise. There was no distinct iron-y smell of blood. A big relief for the concerned female. Sward and Kuro's match had ended as well, unfortuneately Kuro was defeated but Sward handled it gracefully, unlike Mr. Big Boots across from them. She looked back to Mel and gave a light bow with her head, signifying that she was ending the conversation, before making her way to Kuro.

"Where'd you come from again?" Azure had just gotten the last of their conversation, but payed no mind to it. She quietly walked behind Kuro and with a small hand, pinched the sleeve of his shirt between her thumb and index finger, and tugged twice. Her head tilted upward slightly to look at him. When he looked at her (if he looked at her), she held up her other hand that formed the universal sign for "ok". Her thumb and index finger form a circle while the three remaining appendages were just there. She silently asked if he was okay, she wanted to make sure for herself.

Azure's right ear twitched and turned toward the entrance. Someone else had been standing there. Her head immediately snapped toward that direction, her hair swishing with the movement, while her big eyes studied the new-new comer. Her view was blocked by Curve who came by to exchange a few words with Sward and her leader, Kuro. Beside him, Azure looked like a small child. She raised her chin to look at the towering male. Her nose scrunched at the sight of him, and she frowned. "He likes juice," he said. So did Azure but probably not that much to carry boxes of it with her. She didnt respond. Azure looked at the two strangers curiously, she didnt get their names, but up close they were interesting characters, and Sward in particular had a very distinct smell buried underneath the overpowering scent of juice, a specific smell that faunus carry. Azure took note of the nameless duo. Guess, Green Knight and Mr.Big Boots would have to be their names for now, she'd discover their names at a later time since their team was getting ready to leave, it seemed like.

The moment Azure ended the conversation with Mel, she began to panic.

She's leaving! W-w-was it something I said?! I've really blew it!

And out of instinct she blurted out, "I'M SORRY!"

Silas then looked at Mel, with an eyebrow raised. "Wow.... She must have done something to have that much guilt." She muttered to herself as she walked up to Mel.

Mel was startled by Silas when she walked up to her, "Oh! Hi! I'm Melania Rosenberg and I think I just ruined my one and only chance at love..." She blurted out and then quickly covered her mouth with her hands.

I'm so good at first impressions... huh?

Mel nervously asked, "Sorry, I weirded you out, huh?"

"I am pretty sure she is not angry. But she is the only faunus I have ever seen. And yes.... I am slightly creeped of, but that is totally OK. I am Silas Sharpe. Nice to meet ya." She said as he squeezes the handle on her Switch Axe, named Conqueress.

Mel regained her composure and extended a hand to Silas, "Nice to meet you, Silas, I'm Melania... But you you already know that bit... But most people call me, Mel!" she said in a cheerful manner in hopes to lighten the mood of their awkward introduction.

"I see you fancy yourself an Axe for a weapon, nice choice!" Mel said as she gave Silas a thumbs up.

"I do." She said as a blade from the back of the axe flipped out as the axe head slid down to the handle. Her axe was now a sword. "This is sword mode. I can cut through anything without bouncing off, and my weapon power is increased in this mode." She said with a smile.

KURO MAYONAKA

While waiting on a response from Sward and listening to Curve's brief statement, Kuro was about to respond but he felt a slight tug at his shirt. He turned around to see Azure holding up her index and thumb pushed together with her other three fingers held up, the universal sign for "okay." Given her shy demeanor that she never let up for anyone, Kuro guessed that she was asking if he was okay. It still made him show the slightest hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth, since he knew it probably took quite a bit of courage for her to walk over here and see if he was alright. He gave her a thumbs up with his trademark confident smirk to show her he was fine, but she looked away before she even saw it. Kuro put his hand down and followed her gaze over to the entrance to see another girl standing over there, probably a year younger than he was, talking with Mel. Man, Mel does not care about anything other than her love life, does she? He had never seen the other girl before, though.

Almost forgetting about his weapon, Kuro walked over to the spot where it was knocked to and retrieved Eclipse off of the ground and separated it back into the dual shotguns that formed the poleaxe type staff. With a spin on his index fingers, the shotgun stocks retracted back to their spots on top of the weapon and he slid each weapon into their respective holster on his back. Before he could say anything, a large yawn escaped his mouth. Right after that, his stomach started growling like a Beowulf. Guess he was hungry. And tired. Bad combo. He walked back over to the group and left Mel to chat. If she wanted to ditch the group, then he'll ditch her first.

"Yo, Muscles," Kuro said regarding Curve, "wanna go and grab a bite in the cafeteria? I'm tired and all, but food is a priority. Sward, Azure, OJ, you guys want in?"

Azure Snow

The girl who had previously walked in to observe, approached the faunus. "You look very beautiful. I have never seen a faunus before," she said. Well how....honest she was. Azure went wide-eyed and blinked a few times before her face turned red from the compliment. She took a small side step closer to Kuro for security purposes. Fear of strangers remember? Recieving a compliment made her even more embarrassed.

Luckily the girl had moved on to Mel, who was still behind Azure. The two showed off each other's weapons in a friendly manner, which the faunus was happy to see. "You guys in?" Kuros voice called to her, and her heightened senses picked it up instantly. She turned away from Mel and the honest girl and looked at Kuro with a wide grin, sharp incisors showing. Her tail wagged with glee and she Wasted no time in lightly jogging to Kuro with haste. 'The alpha has invited me,' she thought, though she didnt have a clue as to where they were going, but she was happy none of the less.

Azure brought her self to a stop at Kuro when she caught up, with him being the only one she (sort of) knows and all (other than Mel). She eyed the other males cautiously before looking away at something else to avoid eye contact. Her lips were shut tight, making it obvious she didnt want to speak. She looked back to Mel and the stranger, hoping theyd tag along too. The vixen would feel more at ease with two more girls joining in so that she wouldnt be burried under all the testosterone in the atmosphere.
