Herb quizically looked over the faunas "You mean the furbag?" he asked motioning towards Beo. "Let me just say this, she's pretty, yeah, but most attractive? Really? I mean, for me personally, I'd say an eight outta ten, I mean, you've gotta see the babes from Atlas if you know what I mean." Herb said with a chuckle, he was trying to infuriate her to make her wake her obvious crush.

"Good luck getting into the faunas' pants." Herb said, sliding across the room as quickly as he came, before then finally trying to get some much needed sleep. "Mission accomplished." he said with an air of satisfaction.

The Next Day...


Cliff overlooking Emerald Forest...


The Students, geared up and ready, now stood upon a cliff that overlooked a massive forest that seemed to go on for miles. Ozpin and Glynda stood at the edge of the cliff looking at them. Each of the students stood upon their own personal launch pad that seemed to point them in various directions towards the forest, ensuring most would land a distance from each other.


"Today all of you are going to face the first of many challenges provided by Beacon." Ozpin stated before taking a sip from his coffee "Today you will venture through the wilds of the Emerald Forest, a place teeming with monsters and hostilities, do not hesitate to annihilate everything in your path... or you will die."


"At the end of the forest will be a chasm, within this chasm are the ruins of a temple that holds a series of relics in its darkest chambers. You will recover these relics and return to the base of this cliff. Our instructors will be keeping an eye on you, but they will not intervene."


"There seem to be a number of rumors and confusion going around about the assignment of teams," Glynda spoke as Ozpin sipped from his coffee "Allow us to put an end to this confusion."


"Today each of you will form teams, these comrades will be with you for the rest of your stay here in Beacon so I suggest you choose someone with whom you can work well." A pause for another sip of coffee "That being said, the first person you meet after landing will be your partner for the rest of your stay here."


"Woohoo!!!" came a shout from near the start of the line


"Any questions?"


He barely glanced back at them before continuing "Good, then we begin."


And with that the first student was flung off the cliff like a slingshot.


"I would just like to take the time" came the voice of Maroon as the sound of the launch pads activating grew louder as they went by one at a time "to request that if any of you welps get yourselves demolished immediately then do us all a favor and angle your mauled forms away from the rest of us when you fail."


Maroon chuckled a bit before he was soon sent off as well as the Launch Pads continued activating.

Teal barely listened he was doing calculations in his head of landing strategies, Fail, Fail, FAIL. He had to come up with a better plan if he want to live. He pulled a gadget from his pocket his boomerangs at his sides, the tech seemed to glow black in the middle a dust crystal there. Questionable what the hell it was but this was dust that was not well know in vale. Well it was a subgroup from dust, because the main ones were red, blue, green and brown. But there were so many more, hence why Teal found dust so amazing, he was near the front of the line. He adjusted his goggles and took a deep breath, he was then launched at quite the velocity deep in the forest.


He quickly attached the gadgets to his boomerangs and then threw them into two parallel trees then he clicked a button and they turned on, a massive blast came from them and a field of vibrating waves came from them. These were gravity dust, they slowed him down quite a lot and then he landed and flicked his hands the boomerangs landing in his hands the now broken gadgets fell to the ground. Teal quickly went into a tree and scouted the area looking for signatures of grimm or heat signatures of humans.

Oracle held her CrossBerd at the ready, awaiting the moment for her platform to launch her. She was sure she was ready... Hopefully... Se gripped her weapon tighter, aiming the spear end at anything that came into range. As the platform below her kicked off, she flew threw the air. Then, launched the 'grapple hook' mechanism on her harpoon launcher. Swinging from a tree branch, she touched the ground lightly, retracting the spear.

'Alright, Sapphire. You can do this.' She thought to herself, turning Lamina into it's dual sword form before doing anything else. As her fellow students were being launched one by one off of the platform, Sapphire tensed. The person next to her was launched, and finally, she held in a scream as she was being thrown from her position on the cliff. As she neared a tree, Sapphire threw one of the swords into a sturdy tree branch and the other (being connected to it by a reinforced cable wire) she gripped tightly in her gloved hand. This allowed her to swing around the branch one time and land with her feet on the edge of her first blade. Grinning, the wolf Faunus pulled her blade out of the tree and combined both of them into her sword form. She climbed further into the tree, deciding to watch for a teammate from a hidden location, meaning if there was someone she didn't want to partner with, she could easily avoid them.

Beo looked around her, completely relaxed. Finally. No more awkward looking for conversation. She was in her element. Though last night had been rewarding, she liked this so much more. Her every sense was running overtime taking in everything. She memorized the directions and groomed as she saw how people were entering the forest she grinned. This was going to be fun.


Finally, it was her turn and she went down to all fours on the board and let it launch her through the sky like a pouncing cat. She enjoyed the feeling of flight for a moment then focused again. "Landing right. Ok." She muttered then focused on shaping her aura calling out,"Vetenici!" The wind totem formed and caught her in it's talons slowing her descent until she landed. The hawk dissapated sand she scrabbled into a tree to observe her surroundings. She closed her eyes and sniffed. All Faunus had enhanced senses of course but she had trained hers to a ridcoulas level. She didn't smell any Grimm near by but she did smell.... Mel? It was hard to tell because... Why was she wearing perfume? She did look like she was trying to impress someone this morning Beo reasoned. Either way, it'd be good to team with someone she alredy knew. So She started stealthily jumping from tree to tree, moving quickly but hardly making a sound over the sound of the breeze in the wind. Eventually she found the tree that Mel was standing under and landed silently in it. The girl was scouting the forest with binoculars and completely unaware of her surroundings. Beo sighed. She was going to have to work on that if they were going to be on a team. Work to do. She jumped down to the lower branches and twisted over them so she was hanging upside down behind her. Then she reached out and tapped Mel on the shoulder.

Watching her best friend get flung towards, a tree, Jai angles herself towards the tree as she is launched after Saph. As she lands a few trees away, she drops to the ground, and howls, excited for the chance to fight Grimm on the way to the relics.


"Hey! Saph, I know you're up there! Lets hunt some Grimm like we use to pretend!"

Then she sinks into a crouch, baring her teeth in a savage grin.


"You say go."

 

[The Succubi Queen]

As she was launched from the pad, Hansi set to work. Her semblance would help her stick the landing, she just had to pick the spot.


"Let's see....." she spun in the air, trying to get a vague idea of where some people were. She almost didn't recognize Mel as the blonde began to descend into the forest. Is her hair in pigtails? Oh god that's hilarious, what is she, 12? @theManCalledSting


There! She saw a tree that was a little taller than the rest. She threw Nila at the highest branch she could hit, and the ribbon suck. Now to just....


With a moment flight, the ribbon was taut, and she began a swift fall to the ground. As she descended, she threw her other knife, Baingani, at another branch in the opposing direction, and did the same. The equal pull on either side slowed her fall, and she stopped a mere foot off of the ground. With another quick pull and a touch of her semblance, the knives had retracted to their sheaths at her wrist. While the effort might have seen like next to nothing, and indeed, might have been little effort for someone else, now she was all tensed out, not a good idea given her fighting style.


"Ok, before I run into anyone..." She turned to face the nearest tree, pulling out a granola bar from her pocket. Restore as much energy as possible, then find your fated partner. Oh god, what if it was someone awful? I mean, could they tell who she ran into first? They couldn't be watching her in this huge forest. Still. She closed her eyes for good measure.

With her spear in hand, Sapphire crouched to the ground, her ears folded against her head. Without warning, she took off and once she was at least 5 feet away from Jade, she shouted back to her, "Go!"

"Oh, so we're racing now? You're still a child at heart, aren't you?" Sapphire chuckled, but she couldn't resist a challenge, "I'll have you know, I was the best runner that Signal ever knew." With her spear in hand, Sapphire crouched to the ground, her ears folded against her head. Without warning, she took off and once she was at least 5 feet away from Jade, she shouted back to her, "Go!"

"Oh It's on!" Jai yells dashing off, and pulling neck in neck as they run. Jai gains a little more geound by leaping forward, and landing in a tree branch, using her extremly agile form to leap branch to branch, barly pulling ahead of Sapphire.


"Still a powerhouse I see Saph!" Jai calls over her shoulder, pulling the fans out of the holsters and slashing a Nevermore's neck.


"Point tome, Saph!" She calls tho Saph. Leaping back to the ground and pouring on more speed.

Lazuli

Waiting on the launchpad, Lazuli was unable to hide her excitement, practically jumping in her place. Yesterday was a total bust. She couldn't find anyone really interesting. Even the boy she approached last night turned out to be an emo. Though she was hay at how annoyed he seemed to be by her presense. That was something. But today was the day. The day they get thrown into chaos and left to fend for themselves. Today was initiation.


If she were to be perfectly honest, Lazuli was a bit worried about the whole thing about teams and partners. She wasn't exactly good with people. She didn't exactly like people. Most of the ones she knew at home were boring. The ones she did find interesting though, didn't feel the same about her. Not like she was complaining. It was just . . . How was she going to find a team like this? But in retrospect, it probably didn't matter if her team liked her or not. It didn't matter if she liked them. They were just tools, a stepping stone to becoming a huntress. She only had to put up with them for 4 years. She only hoped that they were interesting at least.


The uneasiness in her chest soon vanished as she was launched up into the air. "WWWWWHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" She allowed herself to get lost in the moment. Flying through the air felt really nice. But as she began to descend, she knew she'd have to do something.


As she began to brace herself, the dust chamber of her began to rotate and she released some dark dust, forming a rounded stone cap of sorts in front of her. She twisted around in the air until she was now standing on the slab. Then using some green dust, she quickened her descent. As she began to reach the tops of the trees, she made sure to move so that the stone slab stood between her and the green below. She could feel the resistance as she broke through branch after branch. Then after she made it past the majority of the tree tops, she twisted her hips to angle herself diagonal to the ground and kicked off the slab, launching herself forward into a tuck and roll.


"Ten out of ten. And the crowd goes wild!" she whispered to herself, being sure to include mock applause before heading off into the forest. Okay, the whole partner thing aside, it'd probably be best to head for the relics first. Finding someone can come later and she didn't want to waste time finding a team and find herself farther from her objective than she would like. It was inefficient. It wasn't how she was taught.


So to the chasm it is.

Blood splattered out from it and onto Sapphire's legs, but she continued forward, releasihg her spear from the corpse and heading forwards. "I see you're still an agile littl beasty." She said to Jai, seeing how easily the girl moved through the trees.

Blood splattered out from it and onto Sapphire's legs, but she continued forward, releasihg her spear from the corpse and heading forwards. "I see you're still an agile littl beasty." She said to Jai, seeing how easily the girl moved through the trees.

"It was my only way to beat you in a fight, and nice shot. Now DUCK!" She cries, leaping over her to chop the three beowolves in half, as they resumed their race to the chasm. When they arrived, they skidded to a stop, before looking down.


"Well the fasted way down is to... JUMP!" Jade yells, leaping down.


"I WIN SAPH!"
