Fandom RWBY: A New Year At Beacon

"As a Saffeton, I have been given an assignment," Ron began slowly as he closed his eyes "albeit one that I have been practically forced into, but an assignment all the less. And when that assignment is to fix something, its all the more important. I don't just fix things, I improve upon them. I'll keep what's currently here, but maybe with some inner steel backing up the outer layer, some wiring and even several Dust chambers I can also transform this into a weapon fit for a huntress. Even one so undeserving of my mechanical talents."

This dude was gonna make a shoe into a weapon? Someone likes to go all mad scientist. "So uh, I hope she appreciates it at least. Id just probably repair it instead of building one from the ground up, lack of resources eheh." Jack gave a sigh, this guy was a odd dude. "Names Jack by the way." He said slumping against the wall.

"Ron," the Large Mechanist replied "I already doubt any thanks will be given for this piece of work. But its better than the alternative, all I'll need to do is peruse the Emerald Forest for resources while we're there tomorrow and everything else should fall into place."

"Huh . . . that might not be a bad idea, though how are you gonna refine it?" Jack asked looking over curiously. "stuff is normally treated at some facility no? Unless your planning to use that stuff raw."

The boy tapped his foot on the ground some, seeing as there wasn't much else to talk about from here on, he spoke again. "Well, I'm going to bed, have a nice night Ron, and good luck tomorrow."

With that Jack slumped onto the side and curled up on the mattress he placed, and began to drift off to bed, have to get prepped for tomorrow! its a gonna be a big day, and its gonna be a rather exciting one~

? Summary: Editing was made; Airiana is asleep. ?

Entering the building, she lost sight of Lazuli in the sea of students but even so, she continued on over to a seat near the exit with her excitement taking over her once more as the one and only, Headmaster Ozpin, took spotlight in the amphitheater with a welcoming announcement to everyone. Her eyes were glued on the elderly man and it felt like she was flying when they were told that they would show their skills tomorrow to see if they were truly born to hunt the Grimm. Continuing on, he also told of their luggage already being taken to the gymnasium where they were spend the night at until they determine the teams for everyone.

With that, he dismissed everyone to do their own thing and in seconds, she already shot out of her seat to roam around the campus and discover every corner of this school until she knew everything like it was in the back on her head with a mini map of her own. She traveled almost everywhere within the campus though she never went inside any buildings beside the amphitheater due to not wanting to spoil the fun yet until she was accepted. This place was like... a sanctuary too pure to be tainted just yet, stupid as it sounded, she just couldn't bring herself to do such a thing and so she had only wasted the afternoon chatting with a few passing students -- some she became friends with -- and running around enjoying the lovely scenery until it soon got dark towards evening where she departed towards the gym where everyone would be staying.

Arriving to the place, she was welcomed by echoes of chattering just like at the amphitheater though there were no seats but laid out bedrolls all over the place with many students all ready to hit the hay. Glancing around for her own belongings, she soon find them untouched next to a bedroll as she carefully made her way over until she fell onto the mat on purpose to collide with the cushion to support her fall though the landing was slightly painful,"Ouch." She murmured rubbing her cheek but ignored the pain and got up to rummage around her duffel bag for her pajamas to get ready for bed to rest up for tomorrow. Taking the necessary things she needed, she went over to the ladies restroom (or locker) to change and do her nightly routine.

Luckily for her, she bought a fluffy onesie that had a hood giving her a way to hide her ears still as she pulled it up. Back to her bedroll, she went over to the over-packed suitcase and cautiously unzipped the case slowly while what looked to be a stuffed animal leg popped out. Tugging at the leg, she pulled out a stuffed bear that had a red ribbon wrapped around its neck,"Hello Toto, tonight you'll be my buddy." She said hugging the bunny while zipping back her suitcase that may have held more of her furry friends inside.

Now she was completely ready for bed and with all the running she did today, all her energy was drained out of her as she curled up under the covers and shut her eyes she was finally knocked out to fall into dreams.

(Skipping to the cliffs and launching everyone. Sorry for the abruptness, but we're gunna need to move on. Have fun finding parters and whatnot.)

Professor Ozpin stood at the cliffs of Beacon as the students gathered as instructed. He was still enjoying his cup of coffee as the students picked a place on the metal launching plates. This class looked interesting enough. Of course, every new year of students was unique in their own way. They each had their own pages in history in some form or another, some in the darker pages. Ozpin looked over the students once more before finally deciding to speak. "Good to see you all here. I mentioned your test yesterday, so please take a good look at it." He gestured off in the distance over the cliff. "This is the Emerald Forest. You'll be launched into the forest where you'll find your partner and your team. The first person you make eye contact with is your partner; while your teams will be decided by the artifacts you'll be retrieving. Retrieving the artifacts is just as important as surviving this test. Grimm will be hiding behind nearly every in the forest." He paused a moment for any comments before slowly raising his hand to his scroll and activating the delayed release of the platforms. "Good luck." He grinned slightly as the first platform released and the student on top of it flew over the Emerald Forest and out of sight.

Hēi waited as his platform launched him suddenly into he air. He saw the first student get launched and felt a slight amount of alarm and a hard rush of adrenaline. Now, every part of him was braced against the rush of the air, and soon the inevitable effect gravity. In that moment, he realized he was in trouble. He had no way of landing safely. His eyes opened as the forest below him passed by quickly. He struggled against the air resistance to look ahead and try to find some solution. As he started slowing, the opportunity he needed presented itself. A decent sized lake was approaching fast, and a quick plan formulated in his mind. He quickly drew one of the red cards he crafted the night before. His semblance caused the red artwork on the card to glow vibrantly before he loosed the card above him. The card exploded in a red brilliance just slightly above him, and the shockwave altered his flight path nearly perfectly. He put both hands in front of his to prepare for the high speed dive he was about to endure. His eyes closed just before he hit the mass of water and felt his body slow as the intertia was absorbed by the water. With a minor amount of swimming, he made it to the surface and saw the remnant of his mid-air blast slowly dissipating in the air. As he swam to the edge of the lake, he couldn't help thinking:
that could have gone better.

Saffron stood at the metal platform.... She could hardly keep still both the adrenaline of the upcoming test, and the rhythm of the music making her particularly hyper. She watched the headmaster speak, she repeated the directions in her head. " get shot into forest... Find some artifact....try not to get paired with people who are too horrid. "

As the first few people shot off into the distance she raised both of her hands to her headphones... She turned a small dial, and rotated the entire outer edge of the earpads...more less locking it in for the flight. It could hold on for the flight.. And most hits. She then gets ahold of hagardance, and held it vertically in front of her of her. As she felt the ground move under her she brings her staff down and uses a pulse to gain a burst of speed, and fly a little further.

She flew through the air.. Occasionally twirling, and I'm general having a lovely time " THIS IS SOOOOO SIICK " she yelled as she reached the peak of her flight.

As she started her decent she did a mid-air backflip and pointed her staff towards the direction she started to fall, and let loose a few multicolored pulses to slow her fall down to a survivable speed.

She hits the ground attempting to get a running start, though she tumbles and fumbles and nearly trips. She takes a look at her shaking hands, she takes a few deep breaths to calm down a bit.... No sense in waisting too much energy on the launch. She takes a slower pace as she starts her walk... Keeping an eye out for Grimm.

A launch later, Jack was next up to bat, sporting his sweater and goggles, that sweater he wears all the time, and some plates of armor here and there on his body, mostly on his limbs he prepped up. So find a relic inside the forest, seems simple enough, well aside from the whole finding it bit. Some things running through his mind, who exactly was he gonna meet first inside the forest, how many grim are there? How the heck he's gonna la-

With a sudden burst of movement he was up in the air being flung across the sky. Tumbling around he spun around, taking a second to recover, caught him a bit off guard with all that thinking of his. So just trying to get his bearings and try to fix himself a bit, with all this adrenaline going through his veins from the speed he took a breath in, to scream out. "WHOOOOOOOO" he yelled out at the top of his lungs, fist pumping the air from the excitement! It was, to put it bluntly, awesome!

Now comes the landing part, moving his hand over his shoulder. A sudden chink sound emanating from the compacted weapon, the grip ejected out and extended between Jack's grip, and with a clench of his hand the sword extended fully, shining in the sun as it spun around with its in built rotors as he heaved it around to the front of himself, moving his hand over the trigger the sword began to glow a bit, cannon charging and the chambers spinning. Will the pull of the trigger from the front of the cannon a beam shot out, suddenly hitting Jack with the sudden opposing force generated by the thing. Just a landing, that's all, just aim it down slowly, come slowly, you've seen things that do this, oh its slowing faster that expected, no, no no, no no NONONONO TREES! Gradually reducing the angle of the sword to the ground the cobalt tinkerer slowed down, before shutting off the dust cannon and moving his sword around, using the bottom of it as a shield to break through the branches of the trees he is landing into, bracing himself, and with the cracking and crashing of the trees branches splitting apart with leaves being flung around, and the sound of a thunk of the hefty blade hitting the ground. Jack found himself on the earth, a bit sore, but it could have been worse, also could have been better, but hey at least it wasn't worse.

So with leaves flying around from the resulting crash, Jack went down to pick up his blade and fold it back in, took a look around for a initial scan for grim, . . . nothing from a glance around, but that sound from his 'landing' would attract some very soon. Taking a slow inhale, and then exhaling, he stood tall with his chest puffed out. "Alright, lets get this started!" And off he went into the forest to start looking around for his teammate. Keeping his senses on high alert for the sound of anything skulking around in these woods.

Kerria Luxton

A small smile covered Kera's face as she heard what the objective Ozpin gave them. They were to be launched into the air and then into a Grimm infested forest, Kera couldn't wait. Her smile kept getting bigger and bigger as people closer and closer to her got launched finally it was her turn. It was almost like time had slowed down for her but that was just the adrenaline, something she normally got in these situation even without her semblance being activated. She already had a plan for when she was launched the plan to get some sick air and as far as possible before landing.

Upon being launched into the air, Kera could feel the wind in her hair. Finall she decided to put her plan into action. Placing her hand on her weapon Kera began tapping her foot she was way more excited than she should have been. Finally she was launched, she decided to try and keep herself in the air for as long as possible. Opening the hatch on her sheath and using the fire dust she began pulling her trigger every few seconds allowing her to keep most of her speed and momentum in the air. Finally her weapon run out of ammo in her first clip but boy did she had a good time so good in fact that upon loading another magazine she attempted to shoot it downwards to get into the air sadly to no luck, sure it kept her in the air but now trees were in her way. Finally she began slowly descending luckily with a tree nearby she could dig her sword in it and swung around it, her plan went well or at least she thought it did now all that was to do was land a slick landing. Jumping off the tree Kera pulled off a combat roll before jumping back onto her feet.
"Nailed it!" was all Kera said the whole time and that was just at the landing.

Only just occurring to Kera was the fact that A she needed to find a partner and without knowing anyone it was bound to cause some awkwardness and B that she had no plan for when she was on the ground like right now. She decided to keep on hand on her sword and just in case she closed her sheaths hatch making it easier to counter attack if a Grimm gets a jump on her. Kera decided to pick a direction and go in it, along the way she would run into someone right? Sure Kera's plan had some hoop holes for example she didn't know where the artifacts where, nor even if she was heading the right way. Unclipping her sheath from her hip she instead decided to hold it that way she basically has two weapons and has more ways to fight.

Keppel brought up his green chains on both his arms and legs and waited as he felt his body get slung into the air. Raising his arms out he smiled to himself producing chains in his hands which he used to wrap around tree limbs and swing from them with ease. Flipping and floating in the air he finally landed gracefully on the forest floor. The moment he set foot on ground he heard a growl and a Ursa came charging out. Tsking to himself he went down low and uppercutted the beast into the sky, high over the treetops. "Someone elses problem." He flexed his arms and began walking to the shrine, his chains vanished and he quickly cracked his neck to loosen up a bit. This would be easy he bet.

Stepping through some bushes he was met by yet another clearing, he knew it was this way but he couldnt see it nonetheless. Sighing he continued walking hoping he would either run into the shrine or more enemies because he was still angry about the girls from last night. He needed to let out some frustration and as he went around the next tree he got his chance noticing a couple of beowolfs standing around looking to attack something.

'Funny how the Grimm are my prey this time,' he thought drawing one of his swords, a look of murderous intent on his face. He really needed this. (Dont forget whose team is with who) "Over here boys, let me take a little off the top." One rushed him its claws flexing but it proved futile as Keppel swung his sword with one hand cleaving its head in two. Stepping on it he waved his hand at the other one to taunt it. "You too, dont be afraid, I am just in a bad mood so no hard feelings."

Ron just picked a random spot in line, not fully giving it any attention, and stood waiting as other students filled out the rest of the line. He was pretty sure a decent use of his weapon would be all that he'd need to deal with the landing and the Grimm. It was finding the relics and the raw material needed that would take time.

As he thought that, the twins from yesterday walked by, one of them giving him a dirty look before gesturing to the two boys following them. As they passed by, Ron originally paid them no mind until a very familiar tapping sound occurred to the side. Ron raised his head and turned it slowly to discover a familiar individual taking his spot on one of the launch pads, and another familiar face taking a spot next to him.

"You?!?" Ron couldn't help but ask as he drew the attention of the people in question "What're you doing here?"

"I'm taking my initiation course, obviously." the boy replied before tilting his head "Who exactly are you?"

"I fought you and your pals a couple days ago!" Ron exclaimed, still not following the current situation in full

"My apologies," the boy said as the students began getting launched into the Emerald forest "I usually forget things I don't care about."

"Stop talking to him, Goldie." one of the twins said from further down the line "The carbon dioxide he breaths over here is, like, totally hazardous to my brain cells."

And with that those two were sent flying soon after.

"But why're you of all people going to this school?" Ron asked in disbelief "I thought all manner of substance abuse was fully prohibited from Beacon?"

"I've never touched drugs before in my life," Goldie replied before striking a pose "and neither have my companions."

As the tap dancer went sailing off into the forest, Ron slowly looked down at the guy next to him as he crouched low in preparation for his launch. At this, the guy turned his head slowly toward Ron before grinning and putting his maw of shark teeth on display.

After Jaws got launched into the forest, Ron felt his eye twitch in sheer confusion. He was so lost at that point he didn't he feel the launch pad beneath him activate, he couldn't properly think with the bombshell he'd just been put through, he spun head over heel through the air as he still tried in vain to comprehend.

He smashed unceremoniously into a tree with enough force to uproot it. He and the tree fell over before brutally careening into the ground. Even after that, Ron still laid, halfway embedded into a fallen tree. Finally, his words caught up with him and the events of yesterday and today came together in a single bout of pure agitation.

"WHAT THE F-!?!?"

? Summary: Inside the Emerald Forest looking for a partner while blasting music. ?

The very next day came with the sun rising over the horizon as they stood before a metal platform while Headmaster Ozpin -- with his famous coffee cup with him -- instructed them of their task to find their teammates and also to find their partner in the Emerald Forest that was plagued with the Grimm everywhere so judging from this, this test was to see teamwork and leadership. When the headmaster was done with his announcement, a student was then thrown into the air towards the forest, their screams being heard until they were gone and vanished into the trees.

Iria had a stolid expression on as she stared at the land shrouded with trees blocking any view of what the forest held as her eyes sparkled and shined with determination,"
Emerald Forest here I come!" She exclaimed already making her way to the platform and soon thrown into the air with her hood flying off letting her ears pop out freely. Her squeals could be heard faintly in the wind with her arms outstretched and her hair flow back behind her with her sleeves flapped behind. She was having quite a fun time spinning until she was nearing the forest where she then took action.

With her arms outstretched at her side, an object flung out of her sleeves in a blur and shot down towards a branch, curling around it and locked into place letting her swing on the branch with a. "
Weee!" Until she did almost a 360 degree before landing on the branch perfectly fine with the leaves falling around her from the landing. Once she landed, the object that came out of her sleeve, a yoyo, uncurled and went back into her sleeve with a 'click'. Getting up, she placed a hand on her headphone that lighted up the touch and came to life with the volume blasting ever more,"Now to find a buddy... I think I saw a few crashes somewhere nearby." She mumbled planning out her route but with all the thick trees blocking her vision to see anything from afar, she had to look from a taller tree than the one she was on now.

Hopping off the branch she was on and onto another, she knew it was best not to waste any more time than needed as their arrival have already alerted the other Grimm they were here and would acknowledge her arrival with the blast of her music. So far, the only person that came in mind for Airiana was Lazuli but she wasn't sure where she was and all her other friends were also somewhere else which left her to just having to work together with a stranger and try to make it work out for the best for their survival.

Oerach Gwyn

((Here's my reply for the gymnasium interaction with
@amdreams and later in the post the start of the mission in the forest.))

Oerach was surprised about how the girl dealt with the situation. She clearly wasn't interested in his words, at all. He wasn't used to being rejected by anyone. In Oerach's mind he was too charming for anyone to reject, and he didn't like her decision but there was nothing he could do. It was still the first day at Beacon and maybe she wasn't one to befriend someone so quickly. At least, that was the only way Oerach could explain her rejecting his handshake. She was polite enough to wish him a good night, before completely turning her back to the conversation.
Well this is going well... He thought to himself, as he sighed in dissatisfaction. "Good night." He replied back, as he himself turned his back and slowly adjusted his blanket once again, for it to cover his face. "Don't forget that my offer still stands." He said with a loud enough voice for her to hear. "If you ever need help, I'm always available." Maybe Oerach could've been a little more persistent to try and get the girl's approval, but he was just too tired to continue.

Oerach reached his bed, quickly jumping on top of it and closing his eyes. It wasn't easy to fall asleep. Besides being worried about tomorrow's test, which would decide his partner and team for the rest of his time at Beacon, he also had to deal with the damn promise he had made. Oerach wasn't sure he could withstand not being his true self for much longer. He wanted to have fun, to mess around with people, but he just couldn't. He had to stay focused at all, even if it seemed impossible. Distractions only cause failure, and Oerach couldn't fail again.

----

As each student was launched off into the air and Oerach's turn got closer and closer, he only had two things on his mind. How he would land and how he would complete his first test at Beacon. Oerach started imagining everything that could happen. There was so many options rolling around his mind on how he could fail this exam. What if just straight up fell to his death right at the start? What if he doesn't find a partner? What if he reaches the artifact zone and there's no artifacts left? So many thoughts and possibilities that could go wrong, but he was positive he wouldn't fail. He was too confident in himself and the training he had up until now.

With so much thinking, Oerach didn't even notice his turn was up next. He barely had any time to prepare his stance for his launch, but off he went anyways. In the air, Oearch closed his eyes for a brief moment. When his eyes opened his pink iris was now glowing. It was finally time to use his vision to the max. With the time he had in the air, Oerach began to examine what was below him. His eyes were almost able to zoom in on what he wanted, but zooming sometimes distorts an image, and his eyes sure didn't. They only made things more clearer. There wasn't much going on, besides some pack of Grimm walking around in the woods and some students that had just landed. Nothing out of the ordinary.

The only things that were helpful for his landing were the tall trees, so he had to somehow use them to his advantage. While falling, he quickly examined the best tree and best location to perform what he was about to do. He spotted an enormous tree, that was rooted far away from other trees and looked like the perfect spot for the landing. He rapidly drew his Anaconda Blades from his side holsters and pressed the side button on each, releasing medium sized blades from both gun's barrel. Lifting his arm up, pointing both blades at the tree he had spotted, he arched his body forward so he could raise the speed of his fall. In no time, he was near enough the tree's trunk to stab with the blades and quickly rotate around the trunk until he reached the ground. The trunk was left with deep stabbing marks that started at the top of the tree and ended right before it's base. Oerach's plan went perfectly.

Finally with his feet on the ground, Oerach pressed the side button of each of the Anaconda Blades, making the blades retract into the barrel once again. However, he didn't put his revolvers away as he had be ready for any Grimm that could attack him. With his pink eyes still glowing, Oerach closely examined the area around him. He landed on what looked like a clearing, with the big tree he whirled around to his landing in the middle. The clearing was indeed a beautiful place, filled with colorful flowers and due to Oerach's improved vision they only became prettier. The trees were filled with beutiful green leaves and this area was very peaceful. However, Oerach didn't have time to waste and enjoy the momment. With the landing part all over he still needed to find a partner and a team. It seemed as if no other student had landed around him. With nothing much to do in the area, Oerach decided to move on jog the woods to try and find someone or something.

Hēi throw one of his cards at his feet and waited for his semblance to do its work. The card reflected the sunlight and green markings on the face began to gain intensity. Finally, the power locked in the card broke free with a small whirlwind. Hēi had already braced himself by holding tight to two thin trees, and rightfully so. The whirlwind stripped plants that were too close of some of their leaves and picked up dirt and dust. With his eyes shut hard, he made a mental note that he should probably learn to better control his semblance before trying to pull off a fine tuned action like this. He had planned to just have a small gust to blast the water off his clothes. While a whirlwind did the same job, it was far less pleasant. Finally, the winds died down and the card shattered along the lines the dust had previously occupied.

Hēi took a moment to fix his hair before inspecting the shattered card. He frowned slightly and kneeled to inspect the shards. That was the second card he had used up on this test. He could always make more, but depending on how long this test was his remaining 50 might not last. He sighed and left the shards there. They weren't of any use now. With that, he took in the surroundings. The forest looked beautiful, too beautiful to believe that Grimm would be lurking around. In the green scenery, he finally noticed a pair of eyes revealed by the absence of leaves on a shrub. He locked eyes with the creature and slowly went to draw a card. Without warning, Hēi flung a card forward and the Beowolf pounced from its hiding place.

The card exploded in flames just behind the Beowolf, only barely singeing it. As Hēi drew another card, the Beowolf completed its attack and toppled Hēi over. Hēi's arm fell to one side and the card struck ground. As soon as the card hit, a small pillar of rock shot from the ground at an angle and struck the side of the Beowolf, launching it a few feet. Hēi thanked his luck as he rolled back to his feet. The Beowolf growled is it got up and the two faced off once more. Hēi raised his fists and tried to imagine the grimm as an opponent in the ring. The beast was only slightly larger than he was when it stood up, and he had fought supposed giants before. His main concern stayed in the fact that this Beowolf had claws and teeth. He knew that his gloves and aura were supposed to help shield him, but that was yet to be proven. The Beowolf lunged again and Hēi set his mind to see if he had the correct information as his fist shot forward. His fist and the beast's claw collided and Hēi used the contact point to sidestep the lunge. His gloved hand remained unscathed and his confidence skyrocketed just in time to catch the swipe of the Beowolf's claw is it pressed the attack. He traded blows with the beast for several minutes before finally getting the feel of really fighting a grimm. He caught one more swipe and redirected it into the ground before drawing a hand of cards quickly. He held it like a fan in one hand and waited for the next lunge. As the Beowolf attacked just as expected, Hēi lunged to meet him. both bodies crossed each other and stopped just a few feet past their intersect. A single beat passed and the grimm fell forward in a heap as Hēi stood up straight. He replaced the cards in their box at his waist and turned to see the grimm disintegrate slowly from the cut under its neck. One more sigh of relief left Hēi's lips as he began his trek into the forest, although he mentally noted that he was now down to 48 cards.

Lazuli

The next day, Lazuli gathered at the cliffside along all the others, stepping on one of the metal launchpads near the edge. They had been given their instructions and students had already been launched into the air and down to the forest. She took a deep breath as she readied herself. Clearing her mind of all distractions, opened her eyes to look straight ahead, her arms held up in a defensive stance. By the time it was her turn to fly, her mind was blank and her breathing steady.

Soaring through the air, Lazuli couldn't help but smile the widest she had ever done in her life. This feeling was something foreign to her. Wind flowing through her hair and the distinct feeling of being limitless. It was an amazing feeling. But such things only lasted so long and gravity was eventually going to ruin her fun. So she had to focus.

Her bracers rotated and her fists began to glow red. Hitting the air, she launched herself forward a few more times before she felt she had gotten a good distance into the forest. She let herself fall at this point, hands now giving off a dark purple light as she effortlessly punched through various branches to clear her path. Once past the thickest parts, she had quickly changed to green dust and with a wave of her hands, created a small circular current of wind to slow down her descent and allow her to gracefully land on the ground below.

Once down, she started walking around the forest. No use in hurrying anywhere without finding a partner first. "Hello?" she shouted into the trees. "Anyone wanna play?" She received only silence in return. She sighed, muttering, "This is a lot more boring than I thought."

There was a sudden rustle in the bushes. Maybe one of the other students? Wanting to get all this over with, Lazuli went to inspect the source of the sound, opening the leaves to reveal a couple Ursa. " . . . Hello . . . " She flipped back as the two charged from the bushes. "Look, I'm flattered," she said. "But I don't think you've passed the entrance exam, have you?" One of them swung its arm at her, urging her to roll to the side. "Geez. Touchy much?"

Making sure to jump out of range first, Lazuli's bracers rotated again and a bident appeared in her hands. As the front most Grimm charged in to attack, she swung the lance, knocking aside its claw and stabbing it through the chin with the other end. Then in a smooth motion, she spun it around again, slicing through its throat. It fell to the ground, its wounds already beginning to dissipate into smoke.

The other one didn't seem to appreciate Lazuli offing its friend, evident by the thing blindly charging toward her. As it swung its arm, she had been able to block the strike with her lance, but it was still able to force her back several feet before she could regain her footing. This didn't seem good. The Ursa charged again, implementing a fury of swipes as Lazuli did her best to deflect. Damn, the thing was full of openings but that meant nothing if she couldn't actually strike back.

The Ursa was slowly but surely pushing her back with its strikes and Lazuli was sure that soon she wouldn't be able to keep stepping back. Glancing around her, Lazuli soon made a run for it, using Longinus to help her scale up a tree high enough to launch herself into the air and above the Grimm. She stabbed it in the back, trying to hold onto her lance so that she wouldn't fall off. The Ursa then started to run, trying desperately to buck her off. She rode it for a few more yards, punching at it, her fist glowing red, until it eventually manged to throw her off. Lazuli went flying through the trees until she managed to hit one while crossing paths with another one of the students.

Lazuli looked up to see pink eyes. It was . . . Who was this guy? No one of importance she guessed. "Hello," she said, giving a half-assed salute right as the Ursa with Longinus still sticking to of his back came barreling in. "God, you're so clingy," she complained about the Grimm.

Argus was enjoying the breeze on top of the cliff side as he observed the forest below; he was glad for having got enough sleep where he didn't feel sluggish in his movements at all which he was grateful for because of the stiffness of his new armor. He did his best best to listen to Ozpin's instructions, trying to listen for anything hidden in the words, but it all seemed fairly straight forward besides the essentially random way that all of the applicants would form their teams. Not be chemistry or compatibility, but by pure chance? It did not really click with Argus, and he did not notice the first student flying off their launch pad.

"uhh-UAHHH!" The question that Argus was about to asked turned into a shout of alarm as he was propelled faster than he could of thought possible of the cliff from the metal plate he had been standing on somewhere into the forest below. He barely had time to think as he quickly found himself heading down and not up anymore, and his sleep-addled thinking was not helping the matter. He instinctively tightened the straps of Silfr Geisa around his wrists as he looked for his landing point. In a flurry he fired off a few shells from his cannon-head, which did seem to slow him down a bit, but now had him spinning end over end. He knew that time was growing short, so he instead shifted his weapon to hammer-head and threw the reverse blade of the hammer as hard as he could into the first tree he could come in contact too. This thankfully struck home as it slid through the bark quite easily, but the disruption managed to slow him enough to come to a complete stop.

Argus let out a large breath as he did not move from holding onto his weapon suspended above the forest floor. "Well... interesting, unneeded, but interesting." Argus could swear he heard other impacts nearby, and even some gunfire or explosions as the first students to be launched had already encountered foes. It was then that Argus heard a low growling from below him; he knew in that instant what it was, but he still allowed himself to look down and spy a living nightmare. A Beowulf, rather scrawny all things considered, but Argus knew better than that. Silfr Geisa was still implanted firmly in the bark of the tree he was hanging from in its' hammerhead form, which was ideal for him, as all he needed to do was yank it away and he would plummet into the waiting Beowulf.

Argus considered his options, he remembered how the headmaster mentioned how many Grimm were in this forest, and that to pass he needed to find a partner, and the relics to be brought back so he had no time to wait. He allowed himself a small chuckle, which seemed to only infuriate the Beowulf below him. His muscles tensed "Well then, onward and forward, so downward!" With a yell of excitement, Argus ripped Silfr Geisa from the tree and swung it above his head as he plummeted to the ground, greeting the gnashing teeth of the Beowulf with the polished metal of his hammerhead.

The hunk of metal wielding boy who had crashed onto the ground ran through the forests, looking around from side to side rapidly, scanning around, he'd yell to look for more people, but in this situation it was probably a bad idea, more noise means more grim coming at him, not that his entrance made it any better. Was exciting for sure yea, but right now its more important to find someone to group up with, team up and get moving along with what they were supposed to do. Don't want to try to become that guy who takes on grim around here, gets overwhelmed, and suddenly your limb is hanging off a Ursa.

Speaking of which, there's something rustling over to the left of him, in a bush, taking a moment to pause he stops moving his hand over to grip it, the anticipation, as he prepped himself for whatever would run out from that, catch it while its lunging at him, catch it while its lunging, alright here it comes! . . . . and a small white rabbit hopped out from, with a sigh of relief he loosened up a bit to stand up. "Phew, just a rabbit." And with a turn suddenly fangs and black fur from a lunging Beowolf, with a sudden widening of his eyes he gripped back down onto his sword, time seeming slow as he suddenly sparked up a glyph below him, with a sudden jut of dust from the guard of Knildred, the glyph he was under turned into a conveyor, facing backwards as he was suddenly and rapidly moved backwards as the plating on his chest was grazed by a claw.

Sneaky bugger thing is, Jack extending out Knildred all the way and kept it onto his shoulder, as he got ready, slowly scooting around on the sides watching the creatures movements. Down on all fours it stood keeping its gaze locked on Jack, those red eyes keeping a eye on him, watching for sudden movements, though not reacting yet, no sudden tensing from its limbs so far, so seeing as it didn't want to move yet, Jack would.

With a step forward and sudden movement forward, the beowolf began to charge over at him, Jack lifted up his sword, swinging it forward and continued to move along with it, hitting down onto the earth. Jack lifting himself into the air in the short time span as the grim attempted to jump up after him, with a tilt of his body, his swung his leg over planting it directly into the creatures skull, knocking its way off to the side slightly and causing it to pause, for only a moment as it was recovering. Jack Used this moment moving his fingers over to the cannon over to the trigger and did a small blast from the blade to launch him and the sword forward as he fell over moving his feet in front of him landing behind the grim, down onto his feet, spinning around the side as the rotors on the grip forced the blade to spin around to move along with the swing. The grim in particular began to swiftly turn to face him and claw him with a swipe, but its reaction was far too late as the blade of Knildred met with its hide, hitting up against the left pit of its arm, and cleaved right through the hide and flesh of the creature splitting right up and coming out through its right shoulder. Severing the creature into two.

The corpse fell and the upper half of it spun off to the side as Jack paused for a second, then stood up smiling a bit. "WOOOOO, hell yea! that was awesome! take that ya stupid wolf, that'l teach ya not to mess with Jack!" he said chuckling to himself some, before suddenly seven pairs of eyes gazed at him from the darkened foliage, causing Jack to take a second to look at this.

Yep time to get out of here, with that a sudden line from the assembly line swiftly moving Jack backwards and onward, swiftly moving him around as he turning around to run as several more Beowolves pursued. Fleeing outwards and creating another glyph that would turn into a piston, launching him into the air rapidly to the trees, running along as fast as he could trying to throw these things off. They seemed rather persistent though as they attempted to trail Jack up into the trees, the goggled boy having to continue moving along trying to find a branch big enough, when in his gaze was the perfect one, wide and long enough to work, just moving forward and creating a line in front of him which lifted him up, quickly accelerating before launching him at the end with another piston up he flew, into the air flying, and soon falling, falling very quickly, actually into what appears to be another student! A girl, faunis it looks like by the ears, with a set of headphones and a Yo-yo? That aside Jack quickly reacted taking a inhale and yelled out. "LOOK OUUUUUT, INCOOOMING!"

Grabbing the beowolf by the skull, Keppel impaled the beast on his sword and tied it up with his chains and proceeded to drag it around with him. He looked up in the sky, "that Ursa is still up there? When is it going to come... oh there it goes." He saw the Ursa falling in the distance and as it crashed down he heard a scream. "Oh great now I have to save someone." Killing the Beoeolf he quickly picked up his sword and ran in the direction of the scream.

Nearing the sound all he could hear was growling and the sound of gnashing teeth. Had it gotten them or maybe they were just out of reach? Either way people would be wondering how a Ursa could fly. He wanted to yell nice day we are having, sun is bright, birds are chirping, ursas raining from the sky. He thought about that and snickered a bit to himself as he cleared the tree to find a student facing the beast.

Pit soared through the air, a sheer look of intensity covering her face as the platform launched her. She immediately turned her halberd back, raising her knees as she braced for impact. Letting out a sudden blast of red dust, the girl pushed against the force of gravity, turning forwards to roll unto the ground. Pit looked around herself, the hand on her halberd tightening as she scanned the area. Pit could already hear combat scattered throughout the forest, luckily not having to engage herself. Now, she could just focus on retrieving the artifact and finding a partner, soon.

Bursting into a sprint, she began moving around the forest. Hearing the nearby roar of a beowulf, she immediately burst towards her left, barely dodging the claws of the starving grimm. Another fell from the trees, barely missing Pit as it crashed into the ground. The huntress-in-training just kept moving, rivaling even the beowulves with her speed. She didn't intend on dying just yet, and she was primarily focused on finding an artifact.

Deep in thought, she tripped over a fallen tree, stumbling forwards only to catch herselves with her hands. She gracefully turned the flop into a series of flips as she regained her grip on her weapon, Dragon. Letting out a burst of dust to keep the incoming Grimm back, she found her endurance once more and returned into her desperate sprint. Feeling the cold, soulless eyes of the two beowulves tracking her, she continued to move in tension.

Grimm, those miserable animals... I hate animals!

As the thought came to her head, the tree in front of her blew into splinters, a roaring beo-wulf hurling towards her. Suddenly stopping herself with a slide, she planted her feet firmly into the ground and slashed deep into the Grimm's skull as it grew close. Noting the two others, she spun to let out a stream of blue dust, creating a wall of ice to shield herself in. The sudden wall of ice caught one of the incoming beowulves off guard, a loud thud resonating from within the barrier as it smashed against the wall. Letting out a roar of frustration, in continuously began to bang its hands against what kept it between it and its food.

"Oh, by the love of Vale..."

Knowing sitting around wouldn't get her any closer to her goal, she burst into the air above the wall of ice, staring down at the surprised beowulf below. Its partner circled, ready to leap into the fray when the combat began.

Pit let out a yell, smashing her halberd down unto the beast as she fell. The beowulf rose its arms to block the blow, but let out a roar of pain as it felt its arms being ripped from the elbows, the sheer force of the Dragon's smash tearing the flesh. The Grimm stumbled backwards as it felt its hands leave its body, rearing its head as it yelled out in pain, before looking back down to seemingly glare at Pit. Rushing with a death-glare, the beowulf began to viciously advance on Pit, biting the air around her as she luckily dodged eached move. Behind her, the beowulf's partner got ready to pounce.

Keppel saw a girl fighting what looked like Beowolves. But where was the Ursa? Looking up he saw it standing in a tree ready to drop down on her, "hey!" He yelled out slinging a chain and wrapping it around the beast to pull it away. "Be careful." He yanked it to himself and punched it square in the head splitting its skull in two. Sighing he ran over to her, his sword at the ready as they became surrounded, "hope I am not interrupting anything." He licked his lips while focusing on channeling the energy into his blade he wasnt sure what would happen next. He could only hope that they would make a good team.

In truth, a fate worse than Grimm lurked in the Emerald Forest. This fact was entirely unknown, even to Ozpin. A plan had been set in motion and it slowly gained strength as its carriers played out their parts. Today's part involved deception and surprise. At the altars holding the artifacts a devious trap had been set, and its victims were approaching. Two pairs of two students made their way through the clearing to the altars with high spirits. They weren't too remarkable in any sense, but they the first group to make it to the artifacts. One of the higher energy members of the group ran to grab an artifact and celebrate victory accordingly.Their victory soon turned to confusion as a blast knocked the student back several feet and several more threw the others different directions. As the group struggled to get to their feet, a purple glow engulfed their bodies. The boy that had run to grab the artifact had one final sight: an armored leg crushing the artifact he had desired and the now blast scorched field. All thoughts and sights faded away and the field was empty once more, save for the damage to the landscape. The students were nowhere to be found and the owners of the trap were just as absent.

Hēi continued his walk for a while. It was uneventful to say the least. No other Grimm had decided to show themselves, so it was a monotony of trees and other greenery the entire journey. That theme remained true until he stumbled upon a certain scene. He watched another student smash a hammer into the teeth of a Beowolf after falling from a tree. He leaned against a tree a moment to watch a moment longer before introducing himself. He was curious to see what the student would do, and also trying to collect the right words for a proper first impression. Finally, he just decided a simple greeting would do well enough. He led off with one foot and approached the student confidently. "Hey there," He glanced at the Beowolf, "Good hit."

? Summary: Almost got hit by a flying human and now checking to see if he is okay. ?

Hopping off one branch after another, Iria could hear a few growls and the trees shaking rapidly from afar but she couldn't see anything else besides that. Nothing had came at her yet and it seemed she was safe for now until she heard someone shouting up somewhere though she couldn't hear the words well due to her music,"Hm?" She couldn't see anyone around but once she looked up, she could see a guy coming straight for her from the air,"What the-!" Not wanting to get hit, she quickly dodge by jumping off the branch and landing safely on the ground while she lowered the volume on her headphones to check on the guy,"Are you okay?!" She asked still shocked by the sudden arrival to almost hit her. Was he a late one that just got launched from the platform or did he got hit by something else? She wasn't sure and examined the guy to see if he was alright.

Pit grit her teeth as she watched her would-be killer's skull split in half. As much as she'd like to doubt it, that guy may have just saved her. She scanned the area around them. A couple of beowulves, one literally disarmed. Noticing that they were surrounded, she tensed, naturally forming her combat stance as she did so. Pushing her back against the other student's, she turned, eyeing the beowulf in front of her with a glare.

"Thanks for the back-up earlier", Pit would blankly respond to the killing of the Ursa a few seconds before. She was ready to attack when he was, and it was killing her just waiting for something to happen, the small pack of beowulves continously circling the pair. She eased, letting out a breath.

There was a killer moment of silence...

Until all of the beowulves charged at once, leaping into the air with their claws and mouths at the ready. With a yell, Pit impaled one of them on the end of her halberd, spinning it to let out a sudden burst of dust at the next nearest beowulf, throwing the corpse of the dead victim in the process. The blinded Grimm fell back as its brethren viciously advanced on the two, eager to spill some blood.

"You got my back, I got yours!"

@Shade Wraith

Well fortunately he wasn't gonna slam into a girl, instead just tumbled over hit a branch fell down hit another branch that spun him around and plopped down on his back onto the earth letting out a groan. Letting out a cough, and brushing himself off, he checked to see if all four of his limbs were still there, yes, yes both arms in check, both legs, five fingers in both hands, good good.

"Yea, Ah, Just a bit dinged up." Jack said picking himself up. "Gonna have some bruises tomorrow that's for sure, but Ill be fine." moving over he went to grab his sword to take a scan around. "Alright, soooo, names Jack, and, I might be having a pack of wolves chasing me. So uh, yea." Jack said standing back up straight looking up at the girl giving a awkward smile. "I know we just met right now, but think you can help me out with this?"

"Works for me," He said as he let out a large blast of air upwards with the help of Emerald sending the Beowolfs sailing backwards. Seeing the opportunity he wrapped his right arm with chains and lunged forward grabbing one of them by the foot. Pulling it to him he punched it into the ground successfully smashing its skull. Rolling to his feet he saw one coming at the female from behind, drawing Sapphire he swung it once in its direction sending out a blue beam of energy which struck it full in the chest, freezing it solid. Using Emeralds wind he glided over to it and, using both swords split it into four pieces.

"Well that wasn't so hard..." He began and just as he spoke five more showed up. Sighing he dropped both of his weapons on the ground and put his fists out in front of him. "Duck." He instructed her, "Just trust me on this one." He looked at her, his eyes waiting to see her response. He wouldn't be able to get all of them but he could at least lower their number a bit. Unknowing to him there was another one creeping up behind him that he didn't see.
