Realistic or Modern Rockwell Academy

Celina snorted and raised an eyebrow. "No judge as long as I get to borrow some to make mixed drinks." she laughed.

"Hangovers are for the non-Irish." Margo said simply. "I'll be fine, thanks for your concern though, Locke the Jock." Margo said with a grin, then gave him a wink to show she was kidding. "When can we do this? Here, everyone put your number on my phone." Margo said, taking out her windows phone and handing it to Celina first, who of course put herself in the phone as Goddess.

Locke smirked. "Yes, I'm a basketball player. I was a regular back home, but who knows if I'll measure up here? I can't wait. Glad you take proper care of your body before matches." He wanted to say more, and ask a few things. But suddenly, everyone was giving Margo their numbers. Well, it wasn't like it began out of nowhere. He had just been too in shock over his nickname. He had literally frozen for at least three seconds.

Locke the Jock? Agh, that was embarassing. To him, at least. He debated strongly if that's how he should write himself as in her contact list. It might come off as a little presumptious of his part? Maybe he should just call himself Gatorade. Hell, why not compromise!?

Gatorade Jocke. He wrote on her phone. GOD, that was even lamer than Locke the Jock.

Cole extended his hand at Locke's request and shook it firmly. "Nice to meet you Locke, I'm Cole." he said, finishing slightly abruptly. At first he had intended to say I'm Cole Harper, but even a lot of the Rockwell gang assumed you were name-dropping if you mentioned any sort of a well known name. So as per usual he settled for being 'Just Cole'. Locke mentioned he was a basketball player, which seemed fitting judging by his stature.

Julia took the time to say Hi to everyone, from Celina and all of the 'regulars' to the new recruits. She was already quite pleased to add some diversity to her friend pool. "Parties at Rockwell just sort of happen, I wouldn't worry about too much planning. I can almost guarantee the seniors on the sports teams will have a big welcome week bash planned for Friday night." she added, but took Margo's phone from Locke when he offered it to her. Cole nodded in agreement.

"My team has got the booze covered, it's our turn to take care of the first party this year. You're welcome to bring whatever you fancy drinking, but there will be lots there." he grinned. "By the way, in the interest of educating our newbies as quickly as possible, that team would be the hockey team that I captain." he added.

"If you guys want to hold a bit of a smaller function tonight, I'm down. We could just hang out and go for a tour of the lesser known parts of campus." Julia suggested, passing the phone on to her brother, who passed it on to Trent.

"Being sincere, a smaller functions sounds exactly like my type of thing. It's like the sense of self gets lost in a big crowd. Or something." Locke scratched the back of his head. It was like that all the time with his old friends. It was real heart-to-heart with two only. When you got to three it was fun. With four it was just a get together. By the time you got to 20 they had all become a mass of drunken party-bots. And he, being no party bot himself, would resign himself to being left out of the mayhem.

Margo smiled and nodded. "Sounds great, show me the stables?" she laughed. "I'm having slight withdrawal. Nothing like the smell of horse shit in the morning." she grinned, then looked at her contacts and laughed. "Nice, Gatorade Jock. Expect a variety of nicknames, from me to you, from now on." she grinned. "Hockey? That's awesome. It's the only sport I can stand to watch." she grinned. Trying to have a conversation with Cole and Julia, the only ones now she hadn't said more than two words to.

Celina tossed hair hair to the side and nodded. "Small get together sounds fun. Getting-to-know-you games and such. I'm down." she agreed casually, but was already trying to decide what she would wear.

Locke took his chances. "It'll be my pleasure, Marego. It'll be a fine exercise in vocabulary. It's nice to meet you too, Cole. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in action." Which was not a simple attempt at flattery. Other sports had, at the very least, a strategic benefit in their observation. Everything could be applied to basketball. At least to Locke. He directed his attention to Celica.

"So our get together will be late in the night? I should probably nap before going, or I'll literally fall asleep in the middle of it. I need 8 hours of sleep a day or I die. Not even kidding, I die".

"Yeah, because that's what happen when you don't get 8 hours of sleep, Celina. Jocks DIE." Margo said, and the two girls burst into giggles. "Alright Sand Man, you nap." Margo grinned. "I should probably relax too, after I see me some ponies anyway." she shrugged.

Celina nodded. "Fine by me. I might run into town on my scooter, see if I can "Hey mister" my way into a beer. Anyone want to come?" Celina asked.

"Perhaps another day, I still need to get to my room with Kenzie...and nap. It was really nice meeting all of you, though!" It was. He was feeling so stuck up before arriving, but the people didn't seem half-bad. No psychos, at the very least. Locke shook his head internally. Being fair, these were all outward appearances he was seeing. How were all of them -really- like? He hoped they would be as nice on the inside as the image they projected for all to see.

Once that whole exchange was over, Kenzie looked over to Locke. "Right then, let's get you to your room, I'm sure you're eager to get set up and rest some." With that, she turned back to the group. "I'll see you guys around, and again, it was nice meeting you new guys." She gave her signature wave and smile and was about to turn before seemingly remembering something.

"Oh, and Celina, make sure my number makes it to Margo. I didn't put mine into her phone, but I know that you have both of ours." She looked over to Margo. "Text me when you can, okay?"

Finally, she turned full around, looking back at Locke and waiting for him to follow suit.

"Will do, Kenz." Celina said, saluting her before snatching Margo's phone back and entering Kenzie's number into it. "Here." she said, handing it back to Margo none too gently. She didn't have a good feeling about this newer, older, debatably talented, definitely charming, girl. She was probably the most competition Celina had felt so quickly with another person. It both bothered her and exhilarated her. She walked off to her room, doing a little wave over her shoulder without looking back while Margo stared after her, confused.

"I don't think she likes me." Margo said with a little, nervous laugh. She didn't know why, or maybe Celina was just one of those girls who came off as hating everyone. She didn't know, but she also didn't really care. If Celina was the price she had to pay in order to be in this friend group, well, that was alright.

Well then, all said and done...Locke walked past Kenzie, and turned around to face her.

"Lead the way, don't worry about me following. Also, one last thing..." His eyes shifted to the floor for a brief moment. A little smile actually got into his ever-stern lips. In just 10 minutes, he felt home. He didn't know what he expected when entering this school, but this has surprassed his expectations. Everyone was so unique, and interested him in their own ways. It was probably a year in his life he'd tell his children about in the future. He looked up.

"Thanks. You were right, it's not about what you left behind...but about what I gained today. And I think I did indeed gain a lot. Shall we go, then?"

Kenzie's face shifted into a larger smile, she was glad that Locke felt that he gained a lot from moving here. It would definitely be much better for him, and everyone around him, if he was happy here, and she was worried in the back of her mind that he wouldn't be happy. That wasn't the case, though, and it was enough for her.

"If you go into it with that kind of attitude, you'll have more fun here than you'd ever imagine." She spoke from experience, it was like looking at her past self a few years ago. "Trust me, you'll fit right in here. Take it from someone who used to be thinking just what you probably are now."

She took a quick stride and surpassed him again, laughing some, and began to walk ahead. She didn't look back this time, she trusted that Locke would follow her.

Oh man, were his teeth showing now? The grin he was feeling only compared to back when he had won the Nationals with his team. It really had been a good day so far.

"Careful with those strides, Kenzie. You're making me want to race, and I can't quite tell where the finish line is!" Some chuckles escaped his mouth as he finished his sentence. If he hadn't just promised her that he would indeed follow suit he would've just run off anywhere, maybe she would run along with him? It was a long year, anyways...when he knew the campus better he'd get her started on some cardio.

"So...well then. What music DO you like? Some soft rock is nice for working out, but I'll be damned if you ask me for bands in particular."

"Yeah... Celina is a bit intense, she's not a real fan of competition, and if you so much as touch the drama room with a ten foot pole, you're competition." Julia said with a slight frown, turning back to Margo after waving by to some of the others as their little meet and greet dispersed. "But hey, I guess you have to give everyone some credit for being truly passionate about something. I have a feeling the only reason we even get along is that I play sports and she performs in plays." She shrugged with a smile. Hey," Julia said suddenly, "did you say you wanted to hit the stables, because I'd be happy to have a valid excuse to visit the ponies." she beamed.

"Oh no, here comes the horse talk. I'm out of here." Cole teased, elbowing his little sister.

"Really? You ride? That's awesome!" Margo said. Horse back riding was said to be a rich man's sport, but Margo had worked off every hour she spent riding by shoveling poop, or other such chores. She had never met another person who rode who wasn't a rich bitch. And maybe Julia was rich, but she didn't seem like a bitch. "Yeah, sure let's go!" Margo grinned, then rolled her eyes at Cole. "God you sound like MY brother." she chuckled, thinking of her lovable older brother who always made her come to all his lacrosse games, bit never bothered to come to one of her shows. Oh well.

Trenton carefully pushed his digits into Margo's cellphone, putting down his name as "Tattooed Trent"- everyone else seemed to be using nicknames. He quickly saw that everyone was splitting up into groups. He didn't want to intrude on any of his new acquaintences so he picked up his bag. "Well, hope you guys enjoy the stables. I'm gonna go unpack my shit." He looked over at Margo and addressed her. "You seem to be my link to the rest of these people. Throw me a text, will ya?" He gave her a lopsided smile.

"Your brother sounds like a good man." Cole smirked. "I guess I'll see you guys later tonight then, you owe me one for lugging your stuff up to your room." he added, before walking back towards the SUV. His dad had most of his stuff inside already. "Thanks dad." he said as Spencer stopped to wipe the sweat off his forehead. "Where's your sister going?" he asked with one slightly raised eyebrow.

"Down to the barn." Cole replied.

"I can tell you guys sure miss me during the school year." his dad scoffed, but grinned suddenly and walked quickly over to Julia and Margo. "Bye honey bunches." Spencer said, wrapping his daughter in a hug, despite knowing full well that Julia hated being hugged. She grimaced and her face was reddened slightly when he released her.

"Yeah, bye dad. Good luck with the pre-season." she smiled. "Oh sorry, Margo. This is our dad, Spencer." she said slightly awkwardly, trying to not leave her out of the conversation.

"Pleasure to meet you Margo." her dad said, offering his hand for the girl to shake.

"I actually like the same kind of stuff, mostly soft and alternative rock." She paused for a moment, thinking. "Really, I like most kinds of music. Those are just the two I like the most." She was enjoying getting to know this boy better. "Those are also the two I really know how to play. I don't know how well I could do, like, rap, on the guitar." She let out that she played, but that wasn't really a bad thing. She sung too, and that was something little known. "So you're a junior, right?"

"Does that make me the missing link?" Margo asked Trent with a grin. "You're welcome to drop off your stuff and come with us, though not many people share the same affinity for horses. That would be my next tat, to add to the one I have. But yeah, I'll totally text you and let you know what happens if you decide to fly solo." Margo told Trent and grinned at his name in her phone. "Awesome." she said.

She turned as the exchange happened with Julia and her dad, and shook his hand with a firm grip. She had a formula for getting parents to like her, it involved a firm grip and eating every bit of food they fed her, and asking for seconds. It never failed. "Hello, sir!" she said enthusiastically. "I'm new, Julia was just going to show me the stables." she said with a warm smile.

Julia could tell her dad was impressed with Margo already. He really liked firm handshakes and mostly unnecessary comments based on respect. "Alright, well, I'll let you girls get on your way. Julia, I expect a Skype at least once a week, and keep your brother in line. Make sure he remembers that playing games in a drunken stupor is no way to impress college scouts." dad grinned.

"Why not just ask me to find Atlantis this semester, while you're at asking unrealistic requests of me." Julia replied dramatically, but grinned.

"Very funny." Dad replied. "Talk to you soon." and with that, he returned to the SUV, which Cole was leaning against waiting for him.

"Now that the yearly embarrassing 'lecture on how not to be stupid while away at private school' is over, let's hit the stables! They're conveniently located on the girls side of campus, it's like they thought through where to put the girls dorm in the best possible place for crazy horse girls." she laughed.

"So, what do you ride and how long have you been doing so?" Julia asked, the usual pleasantry for horse people, as they walked across the green between the residences towards Glendon Hall, about half a kilometre behind it they would arrive at the stable.
After laying in bed for an hour watching Netflix, Nathan grew bored of milling around. He wondered what he should do with the rest of the day, it was probably about time he looked around for some of his old friends, met some new ones and all that. He climbed off of the bed in his single room (as most of the Rockwell dorm rooms were- to promote good studying habits, or something) and looked out the large East-facing window. Campus was still relatively crowded with parents, siblings and confused looking transfer students. He looked back around his room, willing for something to do. Well, I can't clean my room because I haven't yet managed to make a mess of it I've already gone for a swim this morning (I should wait until at least afternoon to go for another). I could venture through campus and meet people and what not, but it's always so crowded on move-in day.

Nathan was actually debating attending a few of his optional classes out of boredom, so he dug out his schedule from his desk to take a look at them:

Nathan Hunter, 043822:

Fitness and Health for Varsity Athletes (Section B)- MWF 7-10 am

The physical and mental demands of competitive sport take serious conditioning and preparations to overcome. The aim of this class is to advance your knowledge of health and wellness as it relates to varsity, college and professional sports as well as complete basic conditioning and learn to appreciate the dedication of athletes in other sports. This class is mandatory for all varsity athletes, the prerequisite is that you have been recruited or rostered to a varsity team. All classes mandatory unless exempted by your coach. Failure to maintain a "B+" (75%) grade or higher will result in disciplinary action from the Administrative Athletics Board.

Monday: 7-8:30am Topics in Health and Wellness (All Sections) , 8:30-10am Games for Sport (Within Section or All Sections)

Wednesday: 7-10am Land Training and Conditioning for all Sports (Within Section)

Friday: 7-8:30am Land Training and Conditioning for all Sports (Within Section) , 8:30-10am Rotation of Geared Practice for Each Varsity Sport

Varsity Fitness was always a pretty great class, essentially, it's just a way for the coaches to not have to all hold morning conditioning practices. Instead, they rotate who is running the different sections and some get the morning off. Typically, half of Monday was a lecture with all the athletes in one of the big lecture halls on some aspect of health and wellness relating to playing sports and the other half was fun games in the different sections. Wednesday was always conditioning of some kind, weights, cardio, runs in the forest, laps in the pool. On friday, the first half was usually conditioning and in the second half each section rotated through a quick lesson on how to play all of the different sports Rockwell offered, and then attending a practice geared towards that particular sport, usually including some kind of scrimmage or game at the end. The other really awesome thing about the class is that it was one of the few "open" classes by age, so you met lots of new people. The one bad thing about it, at least for team sports, was that the sections were divided to force students to train with people of different teams and different skill sets.

Grade 11- What makes a literary classic? TTh 10-11:30 am

We will be studying chronologically the most famous works by a variety of authors in the past century. Beginning with Shakespeare and ending with Rowling and Collins, we will review the socio-political and historical factors that led to the popularity of specific works. Hopefully, by the end of the semester you will be able to answer the title question: What makes a literary classic?" Prerequisite: Grade 10 English

Rockwell offered a variety of English classes at the junior and senior level that were considered equivalent. Nathan had picked this one because 1) who wouldn't want to read Harry Potter for class credit 2) he was borderline illiterate when it came to creative writing or advanced grammar, limiting his other options and 3) English was his least favourite class, so getting a decent mark and getting the class requirement over with would be ideal.

The Science of Sport MWF 12-3pm

This class will discuss the biological, chemical, and physical requirements for high performance sports. Examples and questions will be real life applicable to modern athletes. Everything from questions about 'What angle of pitch will reach the longest distance?' to 'How does my body convert food into cellular energy?" will be discussed. Equivalent to an AP 1.0 credits Biology, 0.5 credits Physics and 0.5 credits Chemistry, 2 credit course. Prerequisite of grade 10 science.

Not a bad way to knock off a bunch of senior science courses. Nathan thought.

In the end, he decided we really wasn't quite bored enough to attend class he wasn't required to, and decided to wander down to the cafeteria to grab an early lunch.

Margo smiled and waved goodbye to Spencer. "He seems nice." she grinned. "I've been riding for a little over ten years. I grew up next to a farm, and my neighbor let me ride her horses so long as I cleaned their stalls, fed them, etc." she said with a shrug. "I got really good, and started showing, and winning. But I stopped competing, didn't think it was much fun. What about you?" Margo asked her, happy to talk horses with a fellow equine appreciator.

Celina wandered out of her dorm after changing into a very flattering mini skirt and cute crop top that certainly didn't have enough fabric to possibly be worth what she paid for it. She brushes her hair and put on an extra coat of lip glass, then went out to grab lunch since she hadn't had breakfast. While she was at the cafeteria she spied Nathan and smirked, sneaking up behind him the setting down her food next to his and sat next to him. "Long time no see, Nate." Celina smirked.

Trenton shrugged at Margo. "Sure, I'd be down. Give me a sec." Leaving the girls to chat about horses, he dashed off to the boys dormitories, finding his dorm room and setting down his stuff. He also quickly grabbed his small camera, in case he saw any cool things he would want to draw later. He marched back out of the dorms and came back to find both girl engrossed in conversation.

"So, shall we go?" He asked, giving them both a smile.

"Just waiting on you." Margo grinned. "Neat camera. What's it for? If you wanted to take my picture you only had to ask." she teased, looking up at him with a big grin. As the barn came in sight Margo resisted the urge to run ahead. The smell was welcoming, though to others she knew it was disgusting. She saw a flick of a tail, heard the huff of a horse breath and laughed. "Jesus, those horses are giant! No ponies here." she laughed as one stepped out of his stall and into the paddock. He was a giant paint, and he reminded her of one she used to ride named Cherokee.

"I just keep it around in case I see anything interesting. Hah, we'll have to find some good lighting and then maybe we'll talk." Trent grinned as he followed the girls to the stables. They were pretty cool to see, and even though he never really got into horses, it was cool to be surrounded by animals in the musky barn. He saw the horse Margo was looking at, and quickly snapped a picture. A horse would be good practice to draw, he thought to himself, proportion would be a big thing with getting it just right. "So I'm guessing you guys are both riders, right? I've never done much myself- well, outside of a mechanical bull, anyway. How hard is it to start trying to ride?"

"I started teaching lessons right before I left, I could show you. I was fired though, so maybe you don't want me as a teacher." Margo laughed light heartedly, though her teaching skills had certainly not been the reason she'd had to leave. More like... She had dated her boss's daughter. Oh well. Margo was slightly notorious for having terrible taste. "It isn't hard though, after awhile it just becomes muscle memorization. But it is a lot to remember, especially if you ride English, which is a method that is a little more demanding but offers more control." Margo told him, but stopped before she got too into it. She could prattle on about horses all day, she often had to remind herself not everyone was as interested as she was. "But your back, core and leg muscles will get super ripped. I got me some thighs of steel!" she laughed and reached her hand out, palm up, for the giant Paint to sniff.
