Dice Rifts

@Zedalb when it comes to TW upgrades of your armor, I just want to be as clear as to what you want so I don't have a false idea of what you are going for.
Feel free to pool your resources to get other gear to start with. You will be starting out with a job to escort two people to a small town in Texas. You'll be getting a lump sum up front (I need to decide just how much) with a larger bonus for getting your passengers safely to their destination, (no need to make any Star Wars references here) and your pay will go up depending on how much trouble you have getting to your final stop.

Finally, thank you
@Sherwood for the note of excitement. I hope to have fun with this, too.
Oh I am going to be extreme clear!

Feature One.

"Energy Projection Shield"

Base spells:

Deflect (level 4) (10 PPE)

Magic Shield (level 3) (6 PPE)

For the rest of the cost I need the device level, the level those spells are operating at. Assuming its 1(because I'm level 1) then the cost is 160 To construct,8 Per activation.

Effect though!

The spells provide (in order) +4 to parry ranged attacks (for deflect) and 60 MDC + the ability to parry spells(-8) and the shield takes 1/4 damage from spells it parries.

I want to trade that out and mesh it so that. I can activate it for 8 PPE and for that round I can parry spells(and ranged attack) at no penalty, and success means my armor takes NO damage. However, it gains no Bonus MDC when activated, and no bonus to parry ranged non spell attacks.

I think its fair to trade the 60MDC per activation to make that 1/4 a 0 instead.

And Fair to trade a -4 spell parry +4 ranged parry for +0 all parries.

Both of those modifications also make bookeeping easier (as the remove modifies to rolls or adding and subtracting MDC)

I think that is a fairly simple

"Energy Projection Shield"

Range:Self

Duration:1 Round Per Device Level(1)

Cost:8 PPE

Effect: Can parry ranged attacks and spells with no bonus. Parried spells and attacks do no damage. Can not parry non-damaging spells, or AOE attacks unless centered upon the caster.

Thats the first up for your modification.

The second, I want to ability to repair my armor, The first spell capable of healing MDC is 20 for 1d4 MDC healing.

That seems very very pricey for 1d4, I get it for life or death healing hit points, but this is armor.

Do you have any guidance, for how to stat out that effect, or should I look at something else?

Armor regen. Let's ponder this for a moment.

I see armor regeneration as a slow but steady process that is not going to give you a real bonus in a fight, but so long as the armor is not destroyed it will self repair. Let's also go with something that gives you an additional benefit per level. How about this; the 20 ppe to activate the regen, but it restores 1d4 MD per level per minute over the course of an hour. That gives you a good benefit of not having to worry about getting repairs. How does this sound to you?

The deflection part is good. I can work with that.

I've posted what I've finished working on so far. I think I'm doing it right, but if someone wants to go over and let me know if I have in fact been applying the skills incorrectly, that'd be appreciated.

Well honestly, non combat repairs are of almost no concern to me, I have incredible skills so repairing my own armor after a fight (where there should be damaged or broke MDC armor laying around) seems like it should be no issue as I have the parts.

I mean it is incredibly cost effective for repairs 60d4 for 20 PPE so on the other hand thats quite tempting. (and I want to be finished so we can start)

I'll clean up my sheet and get back to you on it, I'm fairly tipsy so I'll eat to clear my head first.

I'm thinking maybe a mix of Energy Field and Armor Of Ithan for a bit of MDC with an armor rating.

Id rather having a higher armor rating with less MDC but I'm toying with thoughts

, I would like to improve the deflection later, but didn't add Per level effects only so we can decide how to handle that when it comes up.

With us throwing in the funds together, do you mind me having already made schematics of our light blade?

Also, guys does anyone want to be wielding it?

While I have WP Sword, I think that our blind warrior woman is going to have the best shot at using it out of the gate.

Looks good so far. I would like it if you would add a tab with the stats of the Glitter Boy armor. That will help save time checking in the book for what your suit can do. Include the combat stats so you can see what your abilities are in and out of the armor.

@Zedalb I am willing to accept ideas on the regeneration level of your armor. I'm still fairly new to the system as a ST, and I'm not used to having to come up with gear like this. Just so long as it is not over balanced to be tougher than the GB suit, it should be ok.

Everyone, keep in mind that Rifts is Not a balanced system in power levels of the character classes. I will do what I can to make challenges up that will test you without being a total party kill.

That's what I'm writing up now, as well as equipment. I should be able to finish everything by tomorrow if I'm unable to tonight.

Well Yeah I don't want to over shot anyone, how about we go with your armor regen, with some PPE storage (its not a separate function, it can be built into any) It would just be nice to be able to store a bit more and not always be draining tons of PPE just to keep fighting.

40 PPE storage?, for activating abilities, or to be drawn as normal.

Sounds good. Thank you for your patience with me on this.
Of course! I'm super excited to be gaming!

And saving materials for more upgrades and such is always good!

So now I'll finish my sheet.

-Zedalb

Woo hoo! That much closer to game start!

Sheets done, except!

I get to sup up the group vehicle with one upgrade!

I have a few thoughts for that.

1)Flight, because flight!

2)Telemechanic operation, A psychic power one above what I have, I could still make it, it would just be a harder roll (not that I'm rolling for it at the moment) the ability for us to drive the vehicle from several feet away could come in hand, not to mention, it prevents it from being stolen easily and means it could come to our rescue (assuming its MDC armored and weaponized, but that is why I'm here)

3) Some armor bost, to either just summon MDC armor on it (or more on it), or to regenerate its MDC

4) WEAPON!

5) Teleport?

6) Some buff on sheltering force could make it really nice I suppouse.

7)I kind of like the thought of turning our head lights into Orb of sunlight spells, for the luls on shadow monsters.

8) Super speed boost?

Other ideas or prefferences guys, once we talk it out, I'll stat it up and walk through the process as I post it for GM approval!

-Zedalb

I like the idea of some kind of MDC boost to the Mountaineer. Either a Resistance to Energy spell, Armor of Ithan, or Energy Shield to keep our group ride moving along well. The other idea would be a armor regen to fix up the ATV with ease. A weapon on the ATV would be nice, but not required since the group has a Glitter Boy to be heavy firepower, along with the other characters and their arsenals. Flight would be cool too, and I would pick that before a speed boost. 120 mph is plenty fast, especially since we are not dealing with many paved roads. Going much faster along rough terrain would be risky on its own. That's just my input.

Looks like we are just about ready to start. @Beedub still has a few tweaks to post on his sheet to finish it up and to get ready for any major league fights that will be coming up. But, for the basic starting posts, we have enough done to be able to start the story. The initial posts will give everyone time to finish polishing up their characters and start to get to know everyone IC.

I'm about done. I had a question about rolling with punches/fall/impact though. Are they all the same thing? Like you're just rolling with the impact from a fall or a blow? It looks like the book uses the terms interchangeably, but sometimes it looks like it's talking about different things.

Heck yeah Kylen would take the sword in a heart beat. She prefers to mix it up in close, so if no one has any objections?

Lol also is it just me or does anyone else get images of the pixie on the dash board in a hula skirt like an ornament, not that my character would recognize such a reference.

I'm so upset. I was so close to done. Why is backspace back? Why? I lost 4 hours of going back from the book to what I was typing. Why can't edits save drafts? I want to die, G.B. has so much typing.

Bummer, I have been there. I got stung by that a long time ago. Now I do everything in a Word Doc and copy and paste when I am done, that way I can have it linked to my Onedrive that saves as I go and does a recovery if something happens while I am building my characters or whatever.

Dude, that sucks.

All three use the same bonus, and are basically the same. They don't use up an action, so you can roll with it on many kinds of attacks. It does not work on all kinds of damage; projectiles and blasters can't be rolled for half damage.

I found a Chrome extension that disables the use of backspace as the back button. That should help a ton.

Sword is in your hands.

Note it uses some sdc or HP per few rounds.

I'll give exact numbers when I'm home.

I will also make sure to modify it to isp as soon as I can.

@Zedalb, I still need a perception roll from you, please, and @Beedub, are you going to join us in the IC thread? I would like to know if you want to be in your GB Suit or inside the ATV.

Cool I assume it is the Standard light sword from the TW gear page so I used those stats.

Oh I better ask before we get too far into this. While some O.C.C.s specify an I.S.P. recovery rate, other O.C.C.s and many R.C.C.s don't have one listed so one needs to use the default value. But there is a slight hitch. In one of the great mysteries of life the Rifts main book sets I.S.P. recovery 2 per hour of activity, 12 per hour of meditation or sleep (page 112 RMB).

But the Rifts Ultimate Edition clears this up like mud by giving two recovery rates, neither of which match the one above. Under "I.S.P. or Inner Strength Points" on page 278, 1 per hour of sleep, and 2 per half-hour of meditation (so 4 per hour).

Then on page 366, "ISP Recovery", it says 2 per hour of sleep or 6 per hour of standard meditation, twelve or more for some O.C.C.s.

So which of these are we using?
