Psychie Psychie If this is to be a combat-heavy game with action in the lead, I'd like to play Dreamy. She's hardcore with unbreakable faith and no fear of violence. There are a number of O.C.C.s she might fill that would lend well to a European adventure. If religion might play a role, she would be my first pick. My only question is if I would make her something besides human. And if so, what?

Chan-Chan is the better pick for me if this is more of a social game with research and lore, mysteries to discover and magic to play some large role. Like Snowfall, Chan-Chan has an unquenchable curiosity that pulls her in solution-driven directions. Though she prefers to avoid violence, she's a support character by nature without being a liability and will fight to the end for a good cause.

Hmm. Thoughts anyone?
I don't mind having another Cyber Knight in the group if you are looking to play something paladin-esque.

The game is going to be more combat intensive than a socially driven one. Not to say that there will not be any social interaction, but it will not be the focus of the game.
That's what I needed to know! =)

Nah. Cyber-Knights are extremely cool, but I don't see Dreamy as one of their order. Thanks, though!

Purr Purr do you have the book Dbees of North America?
I don't! However, some of the D-Bees in the books are reprints from other games. What'd you have in mind?

Nothing comes to mind specifically, but that book does have scores of different races of varying power level that I can personally attest to being a great source of material.

Sherwood Sherwood I like that character pic for Raven. He's also strong as an ox! Impressive.

Now, as far as the question of if you know one another prior to game start, that is up to you guys. I will say it would make things a bit easier on me, having to come up with only one hook to get all the characters in on this quest.

Purr Purr what kinds of classes are coming to mind for Dreamy v2.0?

Purr Purr what kinds of classes are coming to mind for Dreamy v2.0?

Psychie Psychie Here we go... =) O.C.C. idea time! If you would like a summary of any of these, let me know? In no particular order:

1. Russian Slayer (from Mystic Russia but with a different background - kind of like Japan's Demon Quellers).

2. Psi-Warrior (from Psyscape. I'm still not sure how viable they would be here).

3. (Idea) Not a Cosmo-Knight and not a Fallen Cosmo-Knight, but something even lower down the food chain - A Cosmic Squire? What if Dreamy could be empowered by the Cosmic Forge and play some hugely-nerfed but still cool and fun knight? No space travel, no Mach Flight, 500 M.D. armor, or any of that, but some neat class that embodied the Cosmo Knights on a much smaller scale?

Just for starters. =)

#1 if it is like the Demon Queller from Rifts Japan, they would work well enough in this setting. I don't expect that they will be a problem.

#2 I have the books for Psyscape, but I'm not familiar with the classes from it. I'd need to read up on it.

#3 not this time.

Maybe Dreamy is that dragon RCC you were looking at. Then you'd just need to decide what class if any to add.

4. There's also this Undead Hunter O.C.C. someone made up. It's got some great stuff, but the only thing I don't like is the total lack of anti-undead defenses (things like improved saves vs. Mind Control or being transformed into a Vampire - that's one huge reason I'm sure folks like playing Atlanteans vs. Vampires - no turning that PC into a bloodsucker).

5. I would like to have played a true Palladin from Palladium Fantasy-become-Rifts with all of the religious benefits (and sometimes baggage) that carries with it, but I don't know of such a class. The Priest of Light has the same issues. However, in the Pantheons books, there is a Priest O.C.C. that has limited P.P.E., but fully depends on their deity for aid. I don't have that book for further details, but I'd be willing to buy it if the class came recommended.

Any thoughts of what race you'd like to run?
None!

I have plenty of leads (the Amazon from South America World Book, perhaps some psychic R.C.C. that's not overpowering. Dreamy is female, beautiful, strong-willed, and hardy. That could cover a number of races.

You mean make her a Chiang-Ku like Chan-Chan? Maybe even transfer her Attributes? I thought about asking for that, but I don't know how good a Chiang-Ku Dreamy would make. I'd have to think about that.

You don't have to be a Chiang-Ku dragon; there are many that you can choose from. It's just a thought. Just tossing it out there for you to consider.

The Russia Slayer has lots of magic spells and can't be mind-controlled nor turned into a vampire. They're pretty potent, but they lack the Martial Art Powers of the Japanese Shoki (Demon Queller). The Psi-Warrior is a champion of good (most often) who are close enough to Cyber-Knights as to be part of their adventuring companies.

That you're allowing Martial Art Systems from Ninjas & Superspies wholesale gives me ideas though.

Yeah, I just don't see Dreamy as the typical Dragon Hatchling (learned, but not experienced of the world). The Chiang-Ku seem to have a different take on life, are wiser by nature, and come with a lot of terrific benefits at the cost of some others. Their Enhanced Metamorphosis ability alone allows them to conceal their draconic nature.

Hmm. My very first incarnation of Dreamy was back in your Champions game. Dreamy was this child of the stars, free-willed, kind of naive, and altogether good-hearted and potent. That's kind of what I was going for with the Cosmic Squire idea - something from beyond that meant well.

Your Dreamy almost sounds like a Paraxian from Robotech. Lol
Ahhh... There are commonalities, aren't there? I just... see the Praxians as being pretty limited in their scope of thought. It's all about battle and honor and glory for Praxians. They're kind of Klingon in that way, I think. Dreamy's too independent think like that.

Off the top of my head, I don't know of any cleric style divinely powered classes in Rifts.
Right! Same here. Only the Priest from the Pantheons book. At least we know one thing for sure - we're allowed to play classes that are specialized in taking down supernatural threats. I was thinking we were just playing a bunch of anybodys who come upon the vampire threat and went from there. But I can do this too! =)

Oof! Whoa! I am looking through the Secrets of the Atlanteans book for ideas when I've come across this. Psychie Psychie Sherwood Sherwood Are you using this? Atlanteans and other OC.C.s. "Atlanteans who become Cyber-Knights avoid the Cyber-Armor as it will impair their use of Marks of Heritage tattoos (cost 20% more P.P.E. to use their tattoos) and reduces their P.P.E. by half." (There's more, but that's the major spot that caught my eye on page 123)

I was not aware of that. Ouch. Psychie Psychie ? Is this a thing in your game?

I can forgo the cyber armor if so.

The cyber armor doesn't give as much protection as the Invulnerabity Tattoo, so I would do without the cyber one and take the mystic armor instead.

Psychie Psychie Do you own Mystic Russia? What do you think of the Russian Slayer?

I do. I'm away from my computer at the moment, so I'm going to look it over later. I am thinking it will probably be ok though.
Okies. I'm not set on it; it's just one of the finalists. I'm thinking that Dreamy would make one heck of an Atlantean. And if I can't play a true Paladin/Battle Cleric type, then why not kind of create one with the Russian Slayer? I'm checking it out to see how it all fits.

Atlanteans are just so hard to pass up on for me because they have so many great perks.

Speaking of, I still need to add my clan info and racial skills to my sheet along with my equipment.
