Fantasy Return to darkness

"Really?!" His hand dropped in astonishment of another warrior actually speaking to him! A huge grin appeared upon his face briefly before he resumed his 'manly' stature, clearing his voice as deeply as he could manage. "I mean, I would be honored!"
Anna smiled at him. She said: "Well, now we're hunting for supplies. Want to come with me? I bet we could do much better together."

Anna was looking forward to shopping and chatting with this young man, who she hoped knew cities better than she did.

"Sure!" His grin re-appeared, though in a more subtle manner. He fished through his knapsack for what money he had with him...wait...there weren't any coins. "WHAT?!" He had had enough with losing items already. Did he even remember to bring any coins with him on this adventure?? He was purely hopeless. How?? How did this manage to happen to him???

"Oh. No money? That's okay, the king gave us extra. Hopefully you can make up for it!"

Anna peeked in his pack. "You can cook! Great! I'm hopeless at that sort of thing, and I don't know about everyone else's skills. I have enough money (I hope) to get us through, so let's get going!"

"A-All right.." His good mood had completely been ruined. It was actually almost as if he was about to cry - No. He couldn't cry. He was a warrior now. He rubbed his eyes with his forearm and proceeded forward alongside Anna and Caliond.

"Y-Yeah, I've been cooking for a while now. It's like I get lost in the art..It's the only art you can taste after creating." He gave a weak smile, trying hard to brush off his recent and embarrassing failures. He didn't want the others to see him as a weak link..Maybe that's all he was anyway, though. No! She was happy to know that he cooked! Yes, he will be the cook for the group! He will cook!...and fight?! He needed to learn how to fight...

"Any suggestions on starter weapons? I mean, not that I'm a starter, but...well. I mean. Uh..." He paused to collect what he was trying to say in the most suave manner. "I have knives on hand, and...and I prefer simple weapons. My brother is a knight, you see, and..." He stopped himself before he could sputter out any more useless information..

"You probably know more about simple weapons than I do. I'm a woodsgirl at heart. I don't know anything about knight weapons."

Anna was also happy that the brother of a knight was there. At least some professional fighter-ism would have rubbed off on him... right?

"Oh.." His shoulders sank at the admission of being less than he was..somehow. Were they both hopeless? Oh dear, he didn't want to think about that...

Once they approached the market, he peered at what hung on its back walls, fascinated by all of the shimmering metals and weapons. Oh, if only his knapsack were bigger!!

"Let's see.." He closed his eyes, trying to picture how his older brother fought and what he fought with. It was a bunch of swords...He tapped the table before him to get the market owner's attention. "Yes, I'd like to try out a sword." The market owner couldn't help but scoff at the boy's apprehensive nature. Nevertheless, he handed Jeffrey his shortest/smallest sword. Jeffrey smiled in delight.

"Thank you, sir! Woah!" The sword..it was really heavy. What material was it made out of?? He needed to work on his weight lifting... He could barely get it back on the table after trying to carry it himself! "No thanks," he finished sadly.

He had not given up yet, though.

"Hmmm..." Again he tried to think back to his older brother's fighting gear..............SHIELDS! Duh!!

"One shield, please?!" Jeffrey cried out desperately before the market owner turned to another customer. The market owner scanned his items on the wall and found himself two possible shields for the boy. He placed them before the boy and finally turned to his next customer before Jeffrey could ask for anything more ridiculous. Today was a busy day in the market for him due to the upcoming mission, and he needed to attend to all of the oncoming customers as quickly as possible.

Jeffrey looked at his two options: a big wooden shield or a smaller metal shield. He tried them both out. Thankfully, they were both lighter than the sword, but the metal shield was slightly heavier than the wooden shield. But how would the wooden shield stand up to combat? He decided to go with the metal shield. After all, he'd probably gain some muscle and become acquainted with his new gear throughout the journey.

"What d'ya think, uh...what's your name?" He was holding the shield out before her in hopes she would approve. It was her money after all. "My name's Jeffrey!" He extended the hand that wasn't holding the shield out to her for her to shake.

"Oh, I'm Anna! Nice to meet you, Jefferey!"

She attempted to heft one of the swords and staggered under the weight. "Do you have anything lighter?" she asked the guy at the booth.

Caliond didn't even get the chance to respond before he was beaten to it, oh well, he was just going to shrug. It wasn't like he was the leader... they really should choose a leader. Maybe once everyone was finished being excited for their shopping spree they'd camp somewhere nearby for the night and choose said leader and figure out their plans. That's how it worked, right? He browsed the stalls and bought himself one of those sharpening stones, he'd lost his other one a few weeks ago. He already had a bedroll, so that was one thing he wouldn't need to worry about.

Food and water seemed important, so he stocked up on that, grabbing two skins of water that hopefully could be refilled on their way to or through the forest. He wasn't sure what the others were getting, he'd find that out later.

The person at the booth answered yes, and pointed those swords out to her. She, in turn, pointed the light ones out to Jeffery, and temporarily left him to continue her own shopping.

Anna picked out some wilderness survival stuff like a machete and a magical water filter, plus some tinder and dried food, the kind that lasted.

Mena nodded. "I have plenty of things to tinker with, however, I completely agree. Also, we will need an update on our weapons-not like I fight or anything- but it seems like FLAPPING MOTHBALLS SAMANTHA!"
Mena grabbed the monkey from off her shoulder, and stuffed it back into her backpack.
"First, let's go to the metalworkers'. Their row is probably somewhere around here, not that that information helps us much in finding them."

Lyra asked a passing man where the metalworkers' stalls were, and was pointed in the correct direction. She tugged on Mena's arm a little, and pointed the way out to the green-haired girl.

Veronica followed Freya, realising she didn't have a bedroll for herself. She felt bad for using the money she just got, but she'll get more later.

She bought herself a simple bedroll but her new apprentice looked like she was wasting all her money already. The female Lyari rolled her eyes and went to buy some water skins, maybe some healing tonics/antidotes and meat. She thought of going back to the Butchery she worked in to get the meat for free, but ditched the idea even though it was highly tempting.

'Maybe I should get a horse..? No, too expensive since I have to buy a saddle and keep it alive.' Veronica thought. But they already had a horse, only one. It was the horse of that crazy rider. She shuddered. 'Maybe not. Don't have time to learn anyway.'

Freya finished her shopping, having bought a decent bedroll, food and two extra skins for water. She thought of buying some weaponry or armour, but she didn't really know how to wield any of it anyway. The herbs and balms in her bag would have to be enough along with her small dagger. She did buy a hooded cloak, should the nights get cold and windy. Looking around for Veronica, Freya noticed she had left mid-shopping.

She decided to go out and stand where they had all gone their seperate ways to shop. Surely her companions would gather around and they would wander off together. She killed some time by packing down her belongings neatly. "Hmm, I wonder if I need anything else?"

After purchasing some packed meat, a blanket and other of her necessities, Veronica went to look for Caliond and Freya. She didn't bother buying any weapons and her armour would have to suffice. It was resistant to most damage and magic and it doesn't rust. Not to mention it was hella expensive.

Carrying her now even heavier rucksack, she saw Freya packing her things. Walking up to Freya, she smacked the back of the human girl's head. "You finished shopping already?"

The poor human girl almost fell over as a swift hand smacked the back of her head. "Ow- Veronica!" She stood up, rubbing the back of her head, but smiled at her new aqquaintice. "I think so, I just feel like I'm forgetting something..." She looked at Veronica and what she had bought. "A-armour would probably be a good idea... " She checked her coin purse and deemed it full enough. "I'll be right back! Watch my things! Don't steal them...." She said half jokingly to the Lyari girl, as she ran off into an armour shop.

Spending very little time, looking through the items, she decided on a small chest armour. The clerk had recommended it both in size and sturdiness. Freya put on the chest armour immediately, seeing no reason to carry it around if not on her body. This would do. After having paid, she went back to the meeting spot - at least she thought it was the meeting spot. "There, now I'm all done."

sayr began to wander the market, looking for what caught his eye. "I wonder if a bit of Armor would be worth it..." He thought to himself, because of earlier training in his life his fighting skills were above average, This was the only thing he had to thank his scumbag teacher for. Sayr even though pretty sure it was unnecessary walked into a light armor shop, and began to browse... Giving pieces of armor that were made to be flashier than smart a raised brow, He stopped at a chest plate it had heavy spikes, and was made of some kind of hard metal, he seen it was many layers thick... and went to try and lift it. "Oi! Only try n' lift that piece o' tin can if you can lift a 100 lbs on yer chest!" The shop keep hollered at Sayr, he quickly left the chest plate wondering who in their right mind would wear 100 pounds of armor... what would you even need that for? He stopped at some Thick Leather armor, labeled at 55 Gold pieces in all... "seeing as all I'd need armor for is being shot with an arrow.." he thought to himself as he picked it up... "huh... it's much lighter than I figured.. even for a big hunk of leather" He carried it over to the shop keeper, who accepted the gold while giving sayr weird looks for even taking interest in such low grade armor. After buying the light armor sayr walked back into the market to being looking for whatever else he'd need, not with 445 gold in pocket.

(Sorry for the somewhat late response, I was at a friends house yesterday and then went river rafting today)

Mena smiled brightly and followed Lyra to the metal shop, a maniacal grin on her face as she examined the sticks of metal hanging on the wall.

She began to reach for a rather long and thick one that looked soft and easy to manipulate, and stopped when she realized that she shouldn't go spending all of her money on a whim.

Looking at Lyra sheepishly, she held her hand back and instead went to go look at daggers that would be suitable as a sword for her.

Caliond wasn't sure if he needed more or not... he'd bought some rope, but he didn't want to buy any more because as it was... his rucksack was getting weighty.

"I see you're going on an adventure young man." A middle-aged human smiled from beside him. "You should buy a pack horse to carry your things, it's easier on the shoulders." He pointed up the row a little, to a woman with a few horses around her tethered to a post. "She can sell you one. Where are you going?"

The man had a good point. "I'm with the group going to Faarstrad and you did make a good point, if we have to fight it'll be easier not doing it with a heavy rucksack... Thanks."

"Good luck, young'n." The guy waved as the Lyari headed up toward the woman selling the horses.

Sayr began to move toward a smithy's shop, He looked down at his blades knowing full well that their condition was less than ideal. He walked into shop, He was blasted by heat once entering the shop, and the loud clang of an anvil being smacked. He stopped a moment to take in the surroundings, there was a Smelter across the room with some kind of molten metal in it, to the left upon entering there was a young man working as an employee covered in ash smacking a dagger on the anvil he had heard upon entering the shop, to the right was a wall covered in two handed blades and the equally ash covered shop keeper. Sayr looked down the middle of the shop now which had barrels from one end to the other lined up neatly full of double edged blades. Sayr grimaced "This shop only sells double edged... I need my Tachi fixed..." He looked to the two walls behind him and was relieved to see a few rows in single edge blades.. He walked to the shop keeper. "What is the price for repairs of a Single edge blade?" He asked. The Shop keeper answered in a ragged husky voice, "Depends on the length of the sword, metal the makes it up, and damage..". Sayr in one movement swung both his arms to the swords in their covers and pulled both out fluidly, he then placed them on the counter. "both swords are made up of Steel" Sayr said quickly. "The shop Keeper stared at the tachi, although it's condition was bad he could tell that the sword could easily kill or decapitate a man in one quick movement. "You must have traveled far to get your hands on such a fine blade" he muttered barely audible over the anvil behind sayr. "So.. how much will it be" Sayr asked impatiently. The shop keeper tore his eyes from the blade for a moment and thought.. "I'd say this blade being 30 inches... and steel.. I'll repair it for 86 Gold, the Short blade there will be another 20.". Sayr looked at the blades and asked "How long will the wait be?". The shop keeper looked up from the tachi once again and said "it's going to be about an hour... if you're willing to wait around the long". Sayr put the gold down, and waved the shop keeper off, and went to find a bench nearby. "I've got 349 Gold left..." He said quietly to himself.

Lyra told her: "If it's your specialty, you should go for it, as long as you remember to leave money to spend on food and other necessities. I have a feeling that we're all going to need to specialize, with our team as big as it is."

Lyra herself knew nothing about metal, so she left Mena to it.

Mena paused, tapping her chin with her fingers. "Aye, I guess you're right. Good."

She pulled her hand away from the swords and turned back to Lyra. After a moment of thinking, on her tiptoes, she pulled down two metal bars, and several more contraptions. After a while of wandering and browsing, she came back with a rather large pile of metal in her arms, and a pouch of gold much lighter than what she started with.

(Hey guys i might responds

late....some things happened and it kinda affected me...I'll post soon)

Thats fine. You dont have to force yourself. (Maybe idk). Take your time to cope with the real life.

Jeff nodded in thanks to Anna for singling out some lighter swords for him. He tested them out, whipping them around like a maniac and nearly decapitating some innocent crowd members.

"I like this one!" he chimed out, admiring his trusty weapon. The shininess of it reminded him of newly bought, unused pans, still wet from washing. However, when he looked around, Anna was nowhere to be found, having disappeared into the crowd.

"Anna?!" he yelled, walking through the crowd with the weapons he planned on purchasing...with her agreement, which is why he needed to find her! With him being shorter than most people, he kind of got easily lost...and ended up way at the far end of the market, an entirely different area filled with horses. He accidentally stabbed a horse's ass with his future sword, it whinnying and rearing in pain. In result, he screamed with his prepubescent voice and ran...right into the man he saluted to earlier.

[[ooc// Sorry to skip over a ton of info, feel free to use Elril to achieve your ends as well, Leo. Just wanted to speed up the shopping expedition myself.]]

And so, the Denith and his new friend waded through the market. They spoke of many hopes and fears of the coming days, barely keeping an eye on what was spent. The young lizardman strode with an air of confidence through this place, feeling more at home now than he had through the rest of the trip. With experience and confidence, he took on the merchants and walked away in satisfaction.

During the whirlwind of activity, the young man simply lost himself to the task. His own mind was wrapped around the wonders this place had to offer. He quickly gave into the temptation of magic, of course. He was barely able to be pulled away from the charlatans offering quick mastery for a "low price". In his course, however, he did end up with an interesting assortment of goods. These books and goods weighed him down somewhat, but the weight of this new knowledge and power brought hope to his young heart. With eyes full of light, he hefted a knotted stave in his hands, delighting in its taps upon the floor and the way it balanced against his movements. It wasn't powerful nor exquisite in design, but it was practical. Just a wooden stave with a tip that emitted light from its woven cage of flying rowan, and a bottom of steel that allowed him to trace patterns in the dirt and resist wearing. It was a beginner's tool by any means, imprisoning no spirits nor containing within it the secrets of ancient arts. But it was his, and Elril held onto the apprentice's stave as if it contained his very life force.

It very well may have, at 300 gold for something that only was capable of casting apprentice's spells that he hadn't even learned yet. When all was said and done, his savings would be drained and he would leave this town with nothing other than the rations and equipment that he could find. That is, of course, aside from the last thing his gold could go to.

He rented a small cart to transport goods and people, and began the workings of negotiating a horse to pull it. In his strange amount of trust for these strangers, the scaly adolescent simply trusted them to donate their mounts to the cause should it be required. Maybe this was for the better, maybe not, but he thought of them as friends already. After all, that must be what they were; no one aside from his family had ever been promised to be in his life through such an expedition. Speaking of his family...

Elril took the time, when all was said and done, to write a letter to his family and leave it with the men at the gates of the city for the Ashborn tribe. None would know the contents of his message besides his family, though he hoped the information would serve them well.

Anna got done with her shopping and went searching for Jeffery. It was actually somewhat easy. A horse had bolted past her, and she heard Jeffery's voice scream from where the horse had come from. She just followed the chaos until she found him.

Sayr was sitting with his head down listening to the bustling market, he heard a loud scream a moment ago and wondered what it had been, but he was waiting on his swords and didn't have the energy to investigate what could make such a noise. Sayr was getting ready to head into the shop when the shop keeper brought him both blades and thanked him for his business. Sayr quickly sheathed both swords and walked into the market in search of a larger but lighter Rucksack.

Sayr stopped at a small supply store. He walked in and was immediately greeted by a little old lady with a toothless grin. Sayr shocked to suddenly be face to face with someone couldn't get a word out. "uhhh.." Was all he managed to say. The little old lady opened an eye and studied him for a moment. "An adventurer eh? I assume you're here for some traveling supplies... A Rucksack, food, maybe some journals, a pack horse? What will it be" She asked all at once. He looked at her and said "I suppose I'll need just a larger rucksack and food.. I don't really think I'll be writing much..". She looked at him as if surprised that's all he had wanted from the shop and began to wander away leaving Sayr Shocked and confused to his own business.

Sayr quickly found the larger rucksack and bought a few rations of food for 75 Gold leaving him now with 370 Gold
