Fantasy Return to darkness

Sayr looked at the woman "Well.. if we're going to party up and risk our lives for this I think at the very least we should introduce ourselves and at least try to get to know each other before the king Arrives" Sayr Paused "My Name is Sayr Atz, although I've been Called Harbinger Atz, you can all just call me sayr... or Atz either is fine" He stops his introduction hoping at the very least this would kill time while they await some king to arrive.

Gerald's gaze moved to study the Lyrian man who introduced himself. Sayr. An interesting name. "I think that is a good idea. We shall be depending on one another, after all... I am Gerald Lightfoot." He replied, eyes still resting on the man.

Veronica turned her head to pay attention to the Lyari man who had finally introduced himself.

"We could've saved the introductions till later, but I guess this has to do for the time-being." Veronica said, sitting upright with her rucksack on her lap. It was a bit heavier now.

"I am Veronica."

Then she glanced at the armoured Denith, who went by the name of Gerald Lightfoot. 'Lightfoot doesn't suit him.' The thief thought as she stared at his heavy armour.

Anna and Lyra, both very late, rushed into the throne room and took their seats. Lyra took out her backpack and began sorting through it, making sure that nothing had been spilled/crushed/what have you in her mad dash for the hall.

Asura nodded to the captain and walked to the horse who snorted at him "come on bronze you damn horse" he said grabbing the rains and ushering the horse outside where he tied him to a post and before he could walk inside the horse tapped his head with its nose and snorted lightly making his hair become a mess making him stop and turn around and reach into his saddle bag taking out some apples and put them down in front of the horse making it snort happily. "i don't trust that female lyari ...stay away from her or you might end up losing something" said the voice as asura walked back inside and took a seat a way from the group who were talking "what about the rest then eh?" he said in a small whisper to the voice "danger seeps off of them but if this is a group thing then i'm sorry but your gonna have to be social if you want answers asura" said the voice as servants took the remaining broken chairs out of the room leaving the throne like new chair in the middle for the fact there is roots attached to it and are now in the ground cause of it. keeping it there until they got certain tools

(sorry i took long i ended up passing out on my desk >_>)

Following Lightfoot, the other Denith introduced himself, "Elril, from the Ashborns. Say, I know what humans are and all, but what are you guys, if you don't mind saying?"

Though he wasn't sure what Veronica was, he did recognize magic. This was perfect, actually. He was looking for someone to tutor him, and Veronica was clearly his friend, so he'd certainly ask later.

Elril knew about quite a bit of the world, but his people didn't exactly keep too many books, so thing outside of their trade routes were something of a mystery. He was still very curious, however, and couldn't help but try to figure out while they waited to hear more about the adventure. While they waited, he left his chair and took a position around them, bag in hand.

Still with keen eyes and what might have been a Denith smile, he pressed further, "Why do they call you Harbinger, anyway? And why Lightfoot? I want to know about all of my companion's tales before we set out together."

"I can't wait," he admitted, gripping his bag in anticipation. "I wonder if many people meet the King?"

A panting Anna said: "I'm Anna. I'm called the Fire-bringer. I'm here because I live near the forest."

Lyra also introduced herself: "Please call me Lyra. I answered the call because I like to adventure away from the Lyari cities."

So many things were going on. Freya just sat at the table in wonder, almost not daring to speak up. Had a man really just entered on a horse? Certainly things in the capitol were turning out to be quite amusing. She couldn't help but blatantly stare at the people sitting around her. It was her first time seeing Denith people, and she found them so... fascinating.

The girl, who had introduced herself as Veronica, had showcased some healing magic. Freya had to keep herself from bouncing out of her sight, when she saw. This girl would be perfect as her teacher! She'd have to introduce herself later, Freya reminded herself.

Sayr Studied the group... "There are a ton of Lyari here.... I feel like an odd man out being one of the only humans.." He thought to himself. He quickly realized everyone in the group had introduced themselves... all but for the young girl who had been led in earlier he had noticed before a damn mouse startled him out of his train of thought.... "Is she part of the group... or just here to watch" he asked himself as he looked at the girl.

Anna, once she got her bearings back and looked around at the people there, immediately decided that the adventure would be an interesting one. For example, one guy had entered the palace on a horse.

Lyra noticed the same thing, but was quiet about it. She had never been in the palace before, and was a little intimidated.

Anna took the time to write in her diary the adventures leading up to her showing up in the palace.

"So that's Veronica, Lightfoot, Harbinger, who else?," he recounted, trying to recall who had given him what name.

"Fire Bringer," Elril beamed, hearing another title that interested him. What exciting deeds brought that one about? So many interesting people, he'd be honored to travel with them and learn more. Heck, by the looks of things he could even learn to ride a horse if he spoke to the right person. Still, there was a lot to take in. And in customary Elril fashion, he immediately appended his excitement to his last string of questions, "May I ask why they call you Fire Bringer? And what's the forest like? Is it dark where you live?"

Come to think of it, was his family going to be anywhere near the forest in their trade route? He hoped for their own sake they'd take a detour, but maybe a few weeks from now they'd be set to be in the area. Elril reminded himself to send a letter later, to remind them to steer clear. And maybe to tell them he'd found a name. But first things first, of course.

From the door at the back of the hall, a man emerged with a golden trumpet in his hands. He raised it to his lips and started to play a loud, royal sounding announcement

which lasted for several seconds. Once he was done, he lowered the trumpet and cleared his throat.
"Will all those gathered please find a seat and remain risen for His Royal Majesty Enrith Cloudchaser!" His voice boomed through the hall, getting the attention of those gathered.

The current King of the Realm emerged, a Lyari ruler (they're everywhere!) with a stern face and a crisp royal purple robe. He swept across to his throne, hands folded in front of himself as he looked across at those gathered.

"Be seated, adventurers." Once they were seated he continued. "As you all are aware, the Darkness that plagued the Realm recently is still lingering over Faarstrad's large forest. Due to the unknown dangers lingering within, we need to send willing volunteers in to deal with it. The guards remain here, in case whatever lurks attacks the city. I'm sure you all understand."

He waved another man forward who had emerged from the back room that was carrying nine bags, he approached the table and sat a bag down in front of each person as Enrith continued.

"Five hundred gold for each of you. Together, you will need to go to the Market and purchase what supplies you need. When you return from vanquishing the Darkness, there will be rewards waiting for you. So please, go now and I wish you good luck on your journey. Kha'nashi guide and watch over you."
Five hundred gold?! Then again, they had to buy supplies. Food and water and... stuff. Caliond took the bag of money and got to his feet, moving to wait near the door for the group so that they could travel together to the marketplace. He sure hoped someone else had a good idea of what they'd need. Maybe they'd pool their money and buy really good things.

The bag of 500 gold coins made her internally squeal in delight. Though this money was to buy supplies for the long Journey for her and her new party. The female Lyari opened her rucksack and counted how much remaining gold coin she has. Counting her own 200 gold coins and Sayr's, she has about 520, minus the amount the King would give her.

She gladly took the bag of money and held it close to her chest, along with her rucksack. Caliond was already up on his feet and at the door, so Veronica joined him. She should buy some meat and a few healing tonics. Maybe a bed roll or some stuff like that, she'll decide later.

Freya took the bag of gold and put it in her rucksack, as she quickly rose from the seat. She ran after the Lyari girl. "Wait for me!" She shouted and caught up to the two, standing near the exit. "Hi, you don't really know me, but I'd like to get to know you!" She said frantically, afraid they would not let her join them. "Uh, I mean, I'm not hitting on you, I just meant..." She trailed off, feeling a blush heat up her small face. She really didn't know how to deal with strangers. "I want to be your apprentice!"

Freya looked at her, attempting a smile, but probably ended up looking a bit constipated. "Ah, of course, I'll pay you! I promise, I won't be a hassle. I'm Freya of House Tempest, by the way. " She did a quick curtsey as a sign of her wealthy upbringing.

Veronica clutched her belongings tightly as a human girl shouted at her and Caliond. She spoke quickly and frantically, as the female Lyari tried to make sense of her words. The word 'I'll pay you' caught her attention and she smiled at her.

"Freya of house of Tempest, I never heard of your family before-" She said as she politely nodded instead of curtsying like the other. "I'll love to teach you as my apprentice, but how much are you willing to pay me?"

Asura was over hearing these conversations but no one really noticed him grab the bag and leave to the his horse "shouldn't you speak to them after all your gonna work with them" said the voice as the lyari made his was to his horse who snorted when he saw him and yanked on the reigns forcing them to untie and he then trotted next to its rider and they both started walking down the stairs and stood at the bottom of the steps as asura let out a sigh and looked at bronze his horse "what do you think old pal should we team up with them" he asked while looking at the horse who simply snorted and bopped asura on the head with his nose, then he stood in front of him not letting him leave "i agree with the beast go make friend after all memories are made through friends" said the voice but then quickly regretted saying that to the lyari who lost everything, but all asura did was sigh and hopped onto bronze and waited for his new companions to come down. "asura i used to much energy today i am gonna rest so please don't call for me unless its important or i will make you have that dream again" said the voice in an evil tone witch made asura shiver as he remembered that nightmare "i wont i swear" he quickly said as the horse let out a neigh of laughter

(i might take a while to reply gonna be out for a bit but ill post from my phone if i have to)

Sayr Grabbed the bag of gold and his abandoned rucksack from the back of the room, He looked around the room, and then left silently to the market, Hearing the sound of conversation around him but completely ignored it as he made his way through the courtyard entering the market itself... "I wonder where I should start" he mumbled to himself.

500 gold pieces? Well that was practically five times what he could have hoped for given the number of pelts he took here. That was a month of good, expensive rations and bedding and other various supplies. Or, it was something really awesome. Elril would have a lot of trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to do with it. After all, the excitable young man was in the city and there was so much to see and do here that he had never laid eyes on before. Resisting the temptation to simply bolt out the door and grab the first cool thing he saw, albeit temporarily, the Denith got up to exit and look for something helpful to traverse a forest.

On the way outside, he finally passed the one with the horse, and stopped to share a word, "Hi, I don't think we met. I'm Elril of the Ashborn, friend."

Similarly, he offered his scaled hand for the horse to smell. His eyes lit up a bit as he explained, "We have horses ourselves back home, though they're bred for load bearing rather than speed."

He let out a sound that could be considered a laugh, "You probably don't want my full life story while there are goods to buy. Where should one normally start before heading out on a journey?"

Asura looked at the denith and gave him a wicked smile as he noticed this denith seemed new to this city" I can take you to some stores but as for items I wouldn't know what you need" he said as he scratched the back of his head, after realizing "oh my bad I'm Asura" the lyari said as he held out his hand

Anna just looked at the gold. She didn't have much of an idea of what to do with it. She sidled over to the nearest party member, a Lyari named Caliond. She whispered: "Um, do you know what we should take for this journey? I mean, other than firemaking supplies?"

"Oh, that would be very helpful, Asura," Elril agreed. "Think I'll pick up a bed roll, a knife, some flint and tender, and some other survival gear, if you know where to get it. Should come out to less than 15 gold, if I remember my trading right."

"What do you need to get? I can come along and help negotiate the price, as a way of saying thanks," Elril offered, baring his teeth in some sort of Denith smile with as he shook the Lyari's hand. He was completely untrained in magic and sword-fighting, given the peaceful state of the roads for a small group of nomadic Denith. However, he had observed a great deal about handling animals and trading in his short life. This wasn't likely to come up anywhere but in the city, so the young lizardman figured he might as well help them out how he could.

That still left the question of how to best learn magic, however. There were plenty of people in the group, so one of them was bound to know something. As Elril saw it, he should definitely start asking around for lessons before they got into the more dangerous area.

[[ooc// As it happens, there's an "adventurer's kit" that I don't let my characters adventure without. I always use this page for pricing information on goods: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsAndServices.htm ]]

((Ahh but DND prices and the prices here are different. Hence why 500 each, they don't know how long they're going to be out there. So, fixing armour, buying all the supplies they need, maybe a pack horse to carry it... they probably won't have a lot left.))
Caliond looked at the woman that had spoken to him and he shrugged. "Well, I guess... food, water, bedding stuff... torches? I mean, if we're going into the darkness, we'll need lots of them. I don't think everyone even has armour, some of it might need fixing. There's probably other stuff too."

Asuras mind filled with the deniths memories as grabbed his hand and let it go quickly while he blinked repeatedly shaking his head and then smiled at the denith "that would be nice and yes it seems i didn't bring a lot it looks like i need to buy a bedroll, some wet stones, wood, apples, meat, and vegetables, and i'm positive there is a store here that has something else i need also some pots" he said trying to figure out what just happened but he quickly brushed it off, as bronze snorts and nudges the young denith towards the crowded streets of the market and he picks up a little bit of speed and trots in front of Eril "excuse my friend bronze he never could be still or polite." asura said patting the horse on the side of its neck as the horse eyed his rider and snorted and started walking towards a fruit merchant

"...But how much are you willing to pay me?"

Freya blinked and paused for a second. How much was the proper price? "I'll give you the rest of my goldcoins after I'm done shopping for supplies, and my reward too if it's still not enough!" She said, having been told that money was not a problem. Lord knows, her family didn't need it. "I do come from far away, so you might not have heard about us." which is for the better, Freya thought to herself, doing a quick eyeroll.

She cleared her throat. "But you must teach me all you can! I'll have to be a proper healer before this journey ends, or else... Well, it's just not an option!" She said determined, hoping she got her point across.
