Fantasy Return to darkness

Sitting in his chair on the far side of the room Sayr sees a young girl ushered into the room and sat down... He watches her but only for a moment when he caught movement to the left from the corner of his eye, He snapped his head to the movement in a flash to catch whatever was next to him... on a table next to him was a mouse... with a chunk of cheese... "The mid-dinner thief?" Sayr said to himself half confused as to why this mouse startled him so badly... but it seemed he startled the mouse more than it had him... the small creature had frozen completely wide eyed staring at Sayr, quickly regaining his composure which had been cruelly stolen by a rodent, he turned away leaving the scared stiff mouse to it's own business, He looked back to the girl who had been ushered in, in an almost rude manner earlier, and saw a troubled look in her eye. Being anti-social as he was he sat in the back to see what would develop of this whole scene instead of trying to approach the girl or anyone else.

Veronica heard her name in the conversation between the young Denith's and the armoured one. Her eyes narrowed as she stared at them suspiciously.

'Now what were they talking about?' The female Lyari thought, drumming her fingers on the ebony table.

"Faster bronze faster!" The Lyari rider said as the golden brown horse snorted and picked up speed as it raced down the road towards the city, as he passed the city gates the guards yelled for him to slow down and he tugged on the reign but the horse didn't even slow down. "It seems it started" said a voice in the Lyari riders head, as the horse avoided people and the carts that filled the streets making more people notice this crazy horse and his rider. "Cant you bother me another ti..." he didn't get to finish his sentence as the horse hit the stairs and ran up them with full speed almost making him fall off as he grabbed the saddle he started dangling off, as the horse jumped up the final steps making some of the guards fall on their butts, the horse landed making the lyria do a small flip in the air and land reverse on the horse saddle as the wind escaped him "i really hope you don't want kids asura" the voice in his head said with a small chucked, suddenly the horse exploded through the doors and headed straight into a room with a U-table "WILL YOU STOP ALRE..." again the horse snorted and it stopped close to the table launching asura into the air, he quickly grabbed his spear and some of the runes on the spear turned into a single chain, as if it had a mind of its own the chain launched and wrapped around a chandelier causing asura to swing into a wall witch knocked the wind out of him again. Making him let go of his spear and land on some chairs breaking them on impact....all asura could hear was murmurers a few yells and a voice in his head laughing hysterically as he over heard a man ask the people in the room "is anybody here a healer?..."

(i did this off my phone so please bear with me for a few mishaps..also ill be posting with my phone time to time so ill try to fix its stupid errors)

Sayr was sitting in his chair in the back of room still when a horse burst into the room through the doors, Sayr's chair was positioned just in front of the door so he could escape quickly if he so chose to.... Sayr heard galloping out in the courtyard that led to the keep but thought nothing of it...

"probably just some poor soul who was too late for whatever this is supposed to be..." he thought to himself. A mere seconds after the thought the doors burst open and the hoof of a large horse brushed passed sayr's face, His eyes shot wide open in surprise as the wind of the horse going by pushed him forward only to be snapped by the animals tail. Sayr fell forward out of his chair right onto the floor with a crash almost as loud as the rider himself falling past the table. Sayr now lay face down on the floor with a red mark from the tail lash, and likely a need for a change of underwear... he dared not move, and just sat there in case others were looking.

As Asura landed on the floor, he would find himself surrounded by a dozen very angry, very armed Royal guards. Two others had hold of his steed as the armed guards pointed their shiny, pointy, sharp halberds at the man who had just ridden right into the goddamn throne room.

"HALT!" One shouted, the markings on his uniform showing he was the Captain. "Drop you weapon! Get on the floor! NOW!"

Veronica watched the mediocre event unfold, her eyes widened as the horse rider landed on a bunch of the expensive seats and sadly, breaking them. Then a dozen of armed Royal Guards surrounded him, two of them held his steed while the others pointed halberds at him.

She stood from her seat as she saw a male lying down on the floor of the throne room. Veronica walked by to his side, carefully making her way pass the Guards who were interrogating the man that randomly entered the room through his steed.

"You still alive, there?" The thief whispered, hopefully he wasn't since he wasn't moving. She dug into his rucksack and found a weapon. The female Lyari frowned and chucked it away.

Caliond all but fell backwards out of his chair as a horse bolted through the doorway and flung a man through the air, he managed to right all four legs back onto the ground as the guards swarmed the man and kept back any curious faces. His entrance might have been impressive, if he hadn't broken the chairs and possibly himself. Was he a wannabe assassin? Or was he here for the adventure? Either way, he was probably going to be thrown in the dungeons soon enough.

Sayr's whole face had gone red from the experience.. thoroughly embarrassed by a horse...and to make matters worse someone noticed him just lying there... He heard a soft Female voice ask him "you still alive, there". This of course startled him as he had not expected someone to come up to him... but he did not allow it to show visibly... he would've responded immediately except he was still somewhat shocked by the fact he had been bested by a horse... after all the years of training a mindless animal knocked him over... while scowling at the thought face buried in the floor board, he heard the rustling of a rucksack being gone through nearby... and remembered he took his off by his chair... he seconds later heard a clash of metal... he looked over to see what it was... "My short-sword...." he said in a state of anguish... his connection to his swords being like that of family means being separated from them can cause depression... this is his Achilles heel... and unfortunately if it happened at the wrong time his anger would hike through the roof... but all he could manage was a groan as he squeaked the words out... shifting uncomfortably at the thought that he'd have to get up.

Veronica stopped rummaging through his rucksack as he heard the man groan. She bit her lip and quickened her pace. Trying her best to not make a mess, she found a strange book and decided to keep it. She placed it on her mouth, biting down the strange book, as she continued her search. After a few more seconds, she grinned finding gold coins.

As she stood up with the gold coins in her pockets and the book grasped by her hand, her gaze observed the man. He looked to be injured and a bit helpless. Veronica suddenly had an idea, if she healed the man she could keep his gold coins. Since her healing isn't for free.

Veronica knelt down by him again and placed her hand gently on his body. A warm green glow emitted from her hands and she waited for a few seconds before standing up again and dusted her hands. Whatever he had, should be healed or at least not causing him anymore pain.

Sayr had shifted his head to look after the blade he so desperately wanted back, when a sudden glow began to emit from above him. Once again shocked his eyes widened. "This is Magic... But humans are not gifted in Magic and those who are, are a rare find... The woman speaking to me must be a lyari..." He thought this to himself silently... grateful for the healing... but more worried about getting his blade back... he waited for her to step away and stood, and at a fast pace walk as to not draw attention picked up his Short-Sword... He looked back to his rucksack... and found that his Book had gone missing... He felt a dull panic begin to set in.. but calmed himself by Reminding himself only the Targets final Credentials are the in book... He had also made sure that the book could not be tied to him long ago in case of a situation like this... but now he found himself broke, with 2 rations of food since he ate one out of boredom on the bench earlier... and without his book... "At least I still have my blades.." he thought this too himself feeling empty from the experience. Finally his attention was brought to that of the rider who lay in the middle of the room now surrounded by guards.. "Just who this hell is he thinking he'll just ride in here...". Sayr moved forward a bit into the crowd leaving his rucksack behind completely forgetting about it...

As Veronica returned back to her seat she quickly placed her new items in her rucksack. Sitting back down, she saw that Caliond had fallen off hIs chair and giggled at his state.

Veronica finally paid full attention to the rider who was still surrounded by the guards. She judged him as a really bad assassin or a very, very clumsy man. Either way, Veronica felt a bit disgusted on how he entered. 'At least have the decency to train your horse...or you could just give it to me.' Veronica thought, watching the guards prod the man with their halberds.

The man she just robbed looked like he didn't mind and the thief was slightly grateful for it.

Asura stood up slowly regaining his breath and his surroundings as he realized they were talking to him. "is this....where we meet for the....adventure" he said right as he fell back the broken chairs mashed together making wood snapping noise as all the wood from the chair had become a massive throne chair, "slow down or your gonna get more hurt like alw" just when all seemed over the spear once forgotten fell from the sky and hit asura in the head making him fall back into the chair as his world started spinning again "why is...it always...me" the lyari said as he held his head in pain with his right hand as a light emitted from it, making a bump on his head go away "the chair and healing...what am i your nanny" said the voice with a low sigh as asura started regaining his senses and finnaly noticed the hostility from the gaurds as he slowly tightened his hand on his spear "they might imprison me.." he said to himself as he eyed the room trying to stop it from spinning

Sayr watched the man perform impressive feats of magic all at about the same time.... He was preparing to leave this odd set circus... however the words "Meet" and "Adventure" made him stay... Sayr was not much of an adventurer... but if there was a large payout at the end that meant he could get out of the contract that keeps him as an assassin he would take the job any day... Having originally planned to only stay long enough to watch the event turn into a bust, they now had his full attention... if only he knew the details of this "Adventure" though...

The guards all looked at each other at almost the same time, not exactly sure if they'd heard the intruder correctly. The Captain took a step forward, scowling. "You're here to see the King about the adventure?" He sounded as dumbstruck as he looked, the Captain was pretty sure this guy would trip over in the darkness and fall into a ravine or something.

asura stood up and glared at the horse, and the horse glared back and then let out a snort and looked away with its head up "why you little..i should turn you into dog food" he yelled at the horse as the horse did a little dance tugging free from the guards as it trotted to the door and stood there with its head still up knowing it would make asura annoyed. "can we keep him...he makes me laugh" the voice said in his head sounding like a child who found a lost puppy. "can i ask one question" asura said as he pushed one of the halberd from his face with his finger. "can we put these away before someone gets hurt" he said in a simple tone but for some reason you could feel a warning from his tone. "get ready..if anything bringing down the left wall that will help us escape but after that i wont be able to help" the voice said sounding concerned yet ready for action

"I can take the steed from your hands, if you want." Veronica called to the surrounded man.

"Maybe I can discipline it properly."

She didn't get up from her seat, but instead looked at the man with pleading eyes. She's been practicing the look, but hasn't actually used it before.

The Captain muttered something unintelligible under his breath and waved the guards back to their posts. Were these guys even going to be able to get -to- the forest? A handful of servants were quickly cleaning up the smashed chairs and bringing out new ones.

"Just, take your horse out of here before anything else gets ruined. The replacement for the chairs will be taken out of your payment for this adventure."

"So.... What exactly is this Adventure... and why is it so important that half the county came out to go on it..." Sayr Asked to no one in general... just hoped for a reply and answers...

Caliond looked back at him, disbelief on his face. "Have you been in a cave for the last... months?" He twirled his hand and rolled his eyes sacastically as he continued. "You know, sudden darkness lasting for however long it did... then those weird sounds when the sun came back, and that lingering weird as hell darkness lurking over Faarstrad forest?"

Sayr Taken aback by the sudden sarcasm... "As a matter of fact yes I have.. my previous Job forced me into an underground complex... I spent several months there trying to finish this job." Sayr almost snapped it back, Although surprised he missed something so important... and then never heard anything about it.. it almost feels like the people around him have been so far under a rock they make even him look privy to the news...

Caliond raised a brow. "You haven't heard the criers or the conversation everywhere, or seen the fliers? Wow... Sucks to be out of the loop. Well, yeah, that's the basic run down of things. We're here to go to the forest and check out what's going on in there, the King put out a call for help and we're some of the ones that answered."

Gerald watched quietly. He had not yet replied to the other member of his race, but he finally did so without taking his eyes away from the main happenings "My name is Gerald Lightfoot, what is yours little cousin?" He asked with a very mild curiosity. The conversation taking place was of far more interest to him, and it involved the happenings of the Kingdom, and what their mission was more specifically...

"Is there a reward if we're successful?" Veronica asked, overhearing the conversation between Caliond and the man she robbed from.

"Including its just us, right? No royal guards coming to accompany our..." The female Lyari scoured the throne room.

"...Party of 6 people."

Caliond shrugged. "I was told we have to wait for the King, he'll give us the information we need. I think the uh... dramatic entrance might have made that wait time a little longer. They probably thought that guy was an assassin and took the King somewhere safe to hide for the time being."

Veronica slumped onto her a chair. So they had to wait longer now.

"Of all the things I could be doing right now..." She sighed.
