  Celia Hansen is no Einstein, nor is she the next Harper Lee--but she is indeed gifted. Cece was reading complex novels at age four, and developing an affinity for arithmetic at age six. Science and writing were her happy places, and she displayed her talents for each at a very young age.
  
  
  Her parents noticed their child's intelligence immediately, but instead of praising and nurturing it, they began abusing it. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen entered their daughter into every spelling bee, mathlete, and brain busters competition they could find, all for the prize money. Cece's parents most definitely didn't need the money--they both had quite respectable jobs--but the appeal of 'free' money proved too hard to resist.
  
  
  Celia had finally had enough of her parents' selfishness, and at age 15, promises of a place to live, learn AND get financial support for college showed up in a newspaper advertisement. Cece wasted no time packing a suitcase and a duffel bag with whatever she could. Once her neglectful parents had fallen asleep, she snuck out of the only home she knew, and a bus ticket and cat carrier in hand--her feline companion, Marla, had threatened to rat her out if she wasn't brought along, so Cece was forced to sneak her as well.
  
  
  Celia was too fed up with being used. Too worn out by the hours of screaming she faced whenever she placed anything below first. Too needy for the love her parents never showed.
  
  
  Celia needed to get away, and Redwood would be her escape.
  
  
  Personality:
  
  
  Celia absolutely loves learning, as most gifted children do. To her, knowledge is like an endless chai latte--one of her favorite beverages--and she simply cannot quench her thirst for it. School is her haven, and one of the only places where she doesn't have to face the torment of her mother and father.
  
  
  Many would assume that years of being punished for losing would turn her into a very competitive sore loser, but the exact opposite happened--Celia would purposefully lose any competition she was forced into as a small sign of rebellion against her tyrant-like guardians. Of course, she'd have to face the anger of her parents later on, but she had become skilled at dealing with their rage, and soon learned how to quickly defuse it, making her an excellent negotiator and peacemaker.
  
  
  However, her unfortunate past DID mold her in some ways. Because of her mother and father's constant disapproval, Cece has very rarely felt pride or love. Also, because of her prolonged time out of school, (she was always pulled out for some competition or the other) she'd only ever spent time around socially-awkward know-it-alls, which had its own toll on her social skills--she's become a bad conversation-starter and somewhat naive.
  
  
  Celia's knowledge has also taken an effect on how she sees the world. She notices patterns in everyday things that many others would never even think twice about. She's stubborn for details, and can easily become enamored in the smallest of mysteries.
  
  
  She rathers listening over speaking, but can give a good speech when she needs to. Celia is normally very serious, but has a good sense of humor and a big heart.

Background:


Michael began teaching at Redwood Academy only two shorts years ago, but in that time, he's learned how to handle both the unruly children and the gifted ones. He's seen many common characteristics between the two--the troubled couldn't care less, and the gifted care too much. And from these observations, he's developed a fool-proof strategy to entice both: Keep them on their toes.


Mr. Thompson knows that to survive as a teacher in Redwood, you need to have a little backbone. He's watched teachers bolt out the door with one look at a normal class, and has managed to keep his sanity for a good two years. Michael doesn't plan to leave any time soon, and knows he can teach this year's class a thing or two before they graduate.

Personality:


Mr. Thompson's years of teaching Science at Redwood Academy for the Gifted and Troubled Youth have definitely shaped him into a tough person--but at the same time, somewhat crazy. He's developed an unpredictable sense of humor, and his iconic mood swings have dubbed him the nickname 'Mr. Moody'. He's more than happy to help a student out, and many of his students walk out of class learning a bit more than just Science.


Other: He's obsessed with the show The Big Bang Theory, and has a collection of bobble heads for its cast. Many of the posters lining his walls are TBBT quotes. If you ever speak out against the show around him, he suggests sleeping with one eye open.

  Background: Kory was born to kind parents and they loved her until her father lost his job when she was 13. Kory's mom got an job and was away at work most of the day so Kory came home to her father. Her father began drinking and his drinking lead him to start hitting Kory when her mom wasn't around. She went to school in bruises and cuts. Her dad always hit in places that wouldn't be noticeable. So she was able to hide it. She stayed in that house for 5 years when the ad for the school came up and she applied and got in. She was always getting in trouble. Bullying people and messing with them. She beat up people as well. She did that because she needed some way to let out her frustration. She always thinks she's like her father. Kory sneaked out one night with her backpack and traveled to the school.

He comes across as a Strict and Stubborn teacher , but when you need help he will be there to support you. Richard came up with the idea for Redwood after 5 years of planning and desperately trying to get support and funding he turned a country manor into what is now known as Redwood. He can come down hard on any student who causes trouble as if they get expelled the whole school could be closed.
