Catherine nods. The last thing she wanted to do was push him away "so if it's not too personal, why do they call you Scourge? Is there any particular reason or did you just decide that you wanted to hide your real name and chose a cool name?" Catherine takes a sip of the coffee and looks down at the cross around her waist and sighs, she was never a religious girl and even now she believed that if there was a God he was laughing at humanity for falling so easily to the Reapers.

Scourge paused for a moment, staring at her. The silence remained for a long moment before he finally spoke. "I guess you could say it was a childhood nickname... People used to call me a scourge because I'd always end up being a bother."

Catherine laughs and then sighs "Scourge isn't a word I'd use for bother Aaron...I'd use it as more of a way to say blight or something. When I think Scourge I think something that fucked everything up royally, like "the Black Death was the scourge of Europe" you know? So I don't think the kids you played with when you was young were very nice" she smiles at him "you might not appear like it but I know you're a kind person, you're not the scourge of anything and you shouldn't listen to others but besides that it is a pretty cool nickname to have these days"

It had been years since coffee had stopped giving her a buzz of energy, now it just calmed her nerves and made her feel less dead than she normally did "you shouldn't have to act differently because I'm here. "Ah those guys, nice group really. We called ourselves bandits but really we just murdered other bandit groups and stole their supplies. For a while we helped out survivors and shit but eventually we all started to realise giving our supplies away was going to get us killed so we built fortifications and began to steal for ourselves. We eventually ran out of supplies and began to starve, hence my condition" she looks down at her skinny frame "after a couple of weeks they all turned on each other and started killing each other. One of them tackled me to the floor and began...groping me...he tore my clothes up but I managed to get away when he attempted to miss me. Tore the bastard's throat out with my teeth and ran. A week later I found this place, stashed my things in a bush and then passed out from exhaustion and starvation on your doorstep. I woke up a few days ago in the medbay with a core as the doctors called it...I can't use the threads but I'd been in a comatose state for a week. There was talk about letting me pass. I wasn't in a good state then...I'm not in a good state now" Catherine looks at Scourge and waits for him to laugh at her

"Well I made Weave because I had to. I wasn't going to let Isaac kill off the human race." He paused. "As for the Cores, I already knew how they work so I knew modifying them would let us use the Reapers' powers against them."

Catherine sighs "where did they even come from? You mentioned someone name Isaac. Is he responsible for these abominations? Or did they just appear and decide that humanity needed to be driven to the point of extinction" she looks around the room and then looks at her sword, the hilt had a red and black dragon intertwining. Whenever the sword was touched the hilt drew a small drop of blood and it would recognise users, the only users being her, her father and her brother. When anyone else touched it the dragons would begin to unwind down the sword, when they reached the top of the hilt it would erupt with spikes causing whoever was holding it to lose their hand. Brutal but effective nonetheless
