Rays Through The Eclipse [Closed]

"I'm glad you're paying attention." He smiled but didn't look up from his book this time. He just laughed and continued reading. He was getting kind of bored though this book was pretty good. Soon there was a knock on the door. He stood and saw a council member flanked by two vampires from the police force. He stepped back and ushered them in. This council member he did not know but she had hair like fire and eyes like emerald. Her crystalline eyes took in Gwen then flashed to Aiden. "The girl is coming with us." Aiden nodded and stood out of the way closing his book and setting it one the table.

"Is she going to live?" He asked as the guards went to take her. The red head eyed him like he was beneath her.

"That is none of your business. Mr. Martinez." She turned up her nose at him and he scowled.

"Actually it is, I am as much part of the council as you." He hissed the woman eyed him.

"I'd rather not discuss such things with you Julias." He narrowed his eyes.

She handed him the bag, she honestly hadn't known he would not like it. She didn't know the difference and they hadn't had any human blood on hand. "Welcome she said then turned letting the flap fall as she left. She nodded to the guards and they reposition themselves in front of the tent. She walked off to the edge of the camp where Drake was waiting for her. He smiled and she smiled as best she could.

"You alright Alys?" He asked and she nodded. The group left as the sun disappeared and she was in kill mode once again. Her mind was focused on everything by what was raging in her heart.

Ahmose counted in his head. He counted out ten minutes, and then walked right to the tent flap. The guards were still there when he exited, but he didn’t care. “Hey, wait! You can’t—” Ahmose turned, capturing the guard’s eyes with his own silver ones, and seeming to look right through his soul.

No doubt, Alys would have gone completely cold if she ever saw that look, “I can leave, can’t I?” He purred, taking a step towards the man, “I am only going for a walk, surrounded by rebels. I am not going anywhere.”

Hypnotism was more of a persuasion talent then true mind control, but it often worked if one made sure to seem logical and not push someone too far out of their comfort zone. “Uh…yeah…yeah you’re, you’re right,” the guard agreed, and Ahmose turned away from him as the other got into an argument with him.

He had to find Fenuku. He had to get out of here.

~***~

There was an interruption to reading, and Gwendolen looked up as others began to enter the room. She set the book aside, and raised her hands as she moved off the bed, the surrender gesture apparent. That didn’t mean her hands weren’t grabbed rather roughly and pulled behind her back by one of the vampires. Gwen gave him a rather annoyed look, but her attention was focused on the exchange between Aiden and the woman in charge.

“Well, well,” Gwendolen found herself amused, “It seems the councils work how they always have,” secrets and deceit. From what Aiden had said, and the fact he saved her on the field, she guessed he had made his opinion clear that she wasn’t to be killed.

That meant, from the woman’s behavior, the council had decided on her death. “You know what it’s going to be, Aiden,” the dhampir said, and gave a wink, “Don’t cry for me. Wouldn’t be fitting.” She could only joke in the face of death. It was all she had left. Her dignity, and her fearlessness.

Alys and Drake met up with the rest of the hunting party. Fenuku was among them, she was trusting not stupid. Her, Drake, and Fenuku went east while the others took off north and south. She found her deer stand which was a board laying over three limps so that more than just her could crouch there. Drake scaled the tree with the old man on his back and Alys followed ready to catch him.

Fenuku did not look very comfortable but there was nothing she could do about that. She couldn't very well have left him in the camp. Ahmose wouldn't leave with out Fenuku. He would stay until he had a good shot at leaving with his friend. Alys set up her rifle and Drake watched Fenuku they would switch off.

She closed her eyes and felt the wind then peered down her scope. She was in the zone now her ritual earlier had sharpened her mind.

<***>

Aiden grabbed the red heads arm with crushing force. She whipped around glaring at him with cold emerald eyes. He snarled silently.

"I captured her, I want to know." The woman hissed but gave in.

"She'll live, we are moving her to a perminant cell." She growled then ripped her arm away she stomped out of the room and the guards pulled her out the door. He just watched her go feeling something was off.

There was one way in which Alys had misjudged Ahmose. He knew who to seek out in the camp, and that was Dean. “What are you doing—” but Dean couldn’t finish his question. He was caught in that gaze. Years of practice allowed him to know what Ahmose was doing, and so he did try to struggle against it as the question came.

“Where is Fenuku?”

Dean shook his head, clenched his jaw so that he wouldn’t answer. He managed to say, “You are…to stay in the tent.”

Hypnotism and persuasion took a certain focus that was usually broken by anger. Dean could feel it starting to lift as that anger did start to manifest in Ahmose. “I will not ask again.”

“He’s safe.”

“WHERE?” The shout drew eyes, but it was clear by then, the vampire no longer cared.

~***~

Fenuku hadn’t wanted to go along. He hadn’t been allowed to see Ahmose since he woke, and it was really starting to bother him. He wanted proof that Ahmose was alive, which he did not receive. Needless to say, he was sulking, and not being an active participant with these snipers.

He didn’t want to be a part of vampire hunting. It wasn’t his way, and the more and more he realized he was just standing back and about to let it happen, the more and more his own anger started to grow. He knew he needed to do something to stop the woman with the gun, but a way hadn’t yet manifested in his mind with the man watching him.

~***~

‘I doubt that.’

Permanent cell didn’t sound right at all. What was the point in holding her indefinitely? At some point, Gwen would escape. There was no question in her mind, and there shouldn’t be any question in the minds of the vampires. She didn’t believe their plan but imagined it was some lie to appease Aiden.

She said not a word to Aiden, for there was nothing else to say as she pulled out of the room. She didn’t speak to the woman, either, or the guards.

A stag appeared a moment later he walked cautiously his nostrils flaring. Alys had positioned her stand down wind. Not to mention she was far above the deer. His rack was huge but he moved stealthily his huge rack didn't make a sound as he made his way through the over growth. Alys inhaled slowly feeling the wind once more before she pulled the trigger and exhaled. The stag dropped and the echo ran through the forest. His huge rack made him tumble a little further down the incline and she sat up looking at Drake. She signaled him to collect while she kept an eye on Fenuku. She noticed how in happy he was and spoke quietly as Drake jumped down the tree.

"Ahmose is alive, no harm under my watch will come to him. He is a good man. It is only a precaution that you are here with us." She patted his shoulder using the word man instead of any of the other slang, he had earned her trust. She kept her gun setup just invade something happened to Drake as he finished off the Buck and hauled it over to the tree.

<***>

Aiden thought this whole thing was very wrong so he grabbed his cloak and pulled it over his body he hid his face and exited into the night. The sun had just dipped under the horizon so the heat of the day made his skin prickle this is the closest he'd come to the sun in more than 2000 years. His thoughts went to Ahmose then, he was the nut that always tried to go out in the sun. He hoped the ancient would show up soon, he was a very peaceful man and he didn't dese to die even if he was ignorant when it came to humans.

He turned down the street to the jail house where they kept rebels, there weren't many hostages. The force didn't take hostages they made examples of those who didn't retreat. Sometimes they even slaughtered those who gave in.

Dean didn’t need to answer. Ahmose heard the gunshot, while all the others didn’t, and before a gun could so much as be fired at him, Ahmose was off and running. He’d jumped into the trees and was gone. “Shit.” Dean cursed, “Find him!” He directed, and went to grab his own material to give chase.

Fortunately for him, his prey wasn’t moving very fast. They had a deer to retrieve after all, and as Fenuku glowered, not happy with the words he was hearing, he felt an arm wrap around him and pull him back. Ahmose had quietly dropped from the treetops and he pulled Fenuku to him to keep him from going with the rebels.

Ahmose had no weapons, and he made no aggressive action as his eyes moved over the unknown man and Alys, “We will be taking our leave now.” He informed them both, and left no room for question. He would fight if necessary. At this range, he could snap one of their necks if they so much as aimed the gun at him, and he would react if they tried that.

There was a prison, but one look at those within made it clear that confinement was not its major purpose. Those within looked broken and beaten. ‘Ah, this strategy.’ Keep the humans who lived under vampires in line by showing what happened to those who were disobedient.

If only fearmongering really worked so well, they wouldn’t have all these problems in the first place. Alas, age didn’t appear to do much for many of these vampires. Fools.

Gwen’s face gave no indication, or even a reaction. She seemed calmly assess the situation as she was brought along.

Alys blinked and turned to Drake who was about to lunge. She shook her head and looked back at the Vempire. Her hand went to her knives. If anyone was going to die today it wasn't going to be Drake. She narrowed her eyes at Ahmose.

"You promised me you would stay put, I trusted you." She took a step forward carefully not aggressively.

"Was all the things you told me yesterday bull shit?" She looked back at Drake who was getting antsy about her getting closer to the monster. She stepped forward again moving her hands fr her weapons.

"You can't leave Ahmose, if you do we will never get Gwen back." Drake made a noise.

"I was contacted tonight about her being captured." She stood still hands up in surrender, she had never done so in her life but she was now showing Ahmose her exposed belly.

"We haven't miss treated you, please stay. Or are you just like all the other vampire stereotypes?" She challenged him. Drake stayed where he was hand on his gun.

<***>

Aiden stopped beside a wall hiding in the shadow as she was escorted in. So that was there play. Torture her publicly get something real nice out of the rebles who wanted her back. He shook his head, he should have known. He stepped back from the wall as they shut the inner and outer gate. This wasn't his fight, and he didn't think he even cared.

He made his way back to his temporary house and walked in locking himself in. He needed sleep, he was about to shut down. He flopped in the bed ignoring her scent and falling into deep sleep.

“I promised nothing,” that much Ahmose knew to be certain. He had agreed to stay put, but not indefinitely. He had never promised to stay there forever, and certainly not when he wasn’t allowed to see Fenuku.

He wasn’t inclined to remain a prisoner, unable to do anything. “Nothing I told you was bullshit, but I can do nothing while confined to a tent and a chair. We all have our goals, and mine will not be set aside,” his eyes glowed with the light of power, but he forced that down. Manipulation here would not be good and he knew it.

Besides, they weren’t threatening him. He didn’t need to. Gwen was mentioned, “How will I help with getting her back?” He shifted his attention to the man, since he had suggested he was necessary for that. He wasn’t mistreated, but confinement wasn’t pleasurable. He made no promises to stay, but waited for the answer to his question.

Fenuku remained quiet, tight-lipped. He wasn’t sure how to advise, but he was very glad to see Ahmose alive and unharmed.

The gates were heavy. There were two, and each sound was deafening to the sensitive ears of the dhampir as she walked along. The gloom set in, but she didn’t dare to lower her eyes or alter her expression from acceptance. If she was going to accept death, she’d accept whatever torture would be brought, and not once give in to reveal information.

‘It is only Aiden that knows you’re Gawain, anyway.’ She reminded herself.

They would get tired of her. Bored. Execution would happen. That shouldn’t be a consolation, but with what laid ahead, it was.

She tested one tooth on her tongue, again considered the option of ruining it all for them, but chose not to. She could get some fun in herself by pissing off the vampires.

She saw the light in his eyes and blinked. Would he really use that power on her. She ground her teeth angered, she had trusted him. She was starting to think it really was all bull shit that he was just trying to manipulate her.

"They'll trade us for you. You're an Ancient there is nothing they wouldn't do for you. And we can work something out about the tent you were only there temporarily it was day time when you got here remember." She looked at Drake for a moment she hadn't heard from him in a long while, she had to make sure he wouldn't do anything dumb.

"And if they won't trade you can help us get her back, I know you don't want to see us crushed under the boot of the vampires. Without her we have no hope. I'm no leader I'm just a soldier." She looked back at Ahmose. "You said you want peace then help us attain it. If you help us we will hault our advance at least till Gwen is back. She will make the final call. She saw something in you Ahmose, show us what it was." She swallowed her anger this wasn't the time to be accusing him or for being enraged.

Drake growled but kept silent he obviously didn't like the bargain but Alys could care less if they were to succeed they needed Gwen and to get Gwen they need Ahmose.

Phoenix looked at the little dhampir. She looked so sure of herself so confident. The red head smirked and shook her head. The girl had no idea she was standing in hell on earth. They not only torched humans here but vampires too. They knew just how to push each of their victims to get what they wanted. Her crystalline eyes turned to the guard beside her and he turned down the hall to the girls cell. They would starve her first bring out her wild side show her just how much she was like the animals around her.

She would be just another rabid vampire, it wouldn't be much to strip the half blood of her humanity, then would be the fun part. Phoenix chuckled o herself just thinking about it. This was going to be fun. The guards lobed her into the cell leaving her hands bound. In the next few hours she'd be stripped scrubbed decreased and her fangs would be filed along with her finger nails. The woman rubbed her honey hands together in anticipation as she turned to leave. The guards followed and the lights shut off as she left the cell block.

‘A trade.’

Briefly, Ahmose wondered who would be considered more important to the vampires, himself or the dhampir. His reputation as ‘Helios’ was well known, his tolerance of humans, too. They might not care if he didn’t return.

‘It is worth a shot if nothing else.’ He supposed that was fair. The offer could be made. If it fell through, then it fell through. Plan B would follow. “Very well,” his grip on Fenuku relaxed, just a little. “We can try it your way first and attempt a trade.”

“Do you really think it’ll work?” Fenuku asked.

Ahmose shook his head, not in disagreement, but uncertainty, “I don’t know,” he voiced. He wouldn’t talk up his own importance. He
was important, but he also knew that he was considered difficult. His death would pave the way for others to crush his dream. His life, however, was part of a dream of many others. He knew he wasn’t alone.

It just depended on who was there to make the call.

~***~

‘Keep laughing, darling.’

Gwen wanted to say it aloud, but didn’t. It was enough to give the snickering woman a sidelong glance and a smile, before she was forced into the cell, hands still bound. The lights went off as the door was shut, and then, they left.

Gwen stood in silence for a few moments, getting her senses together.
‘No, no guards near.’ They were overly confident, then. She approached the bars and tested one with her foot, frowned. Too difficult to break. Even if she could get out of the binds—the easy part—getting out of the cell would be next to impossible. ‘Even if I get out of the binds and wait for them to return to open the door….’ A frustrated sound escaped her.

Wouldn’t work. The only way she was getting out of her bindings was by cutting her arm and using the blood as lubrication, and she wasn’t that desperate. Not yet.

"Then you'll stay?" She stepped back and rested her hands on his knives. "Good, I'll have a Sun proof tent for you. You'll be free to walk around and Fenuku can be with you." She looked at Drake who looked very unhappy. He eyes her for a moment then jumped down the tree and ran back to camp to tell Dean and the others. Alys watched him go then turned back to Ahmose. Drake would not easily forgive her but she was Kegans girl and he had made a promise to protect her. She blinked her hand flashing to her arm where he newest cut was then to the necklace that hung around her neck. She looked back up at Ahmose and moved her hand back down to her knife quickly. "I hope we can get her back, I'm not right for the job." She jumped down the tree and walked back to camp himself.

<***>

The woman returned an hour or so later and the guards upped her from her cell. They dragged her down to processing and the woman left her there to be declawed and defanged. She walked back down the hallway to her office. She couldn't wait to break this little half blood.

‘Only long enough,’ Ahmose supposed that didn’t need to be mentioned. He found the humility of Alys to be strange, since she really didn’t seem the humble sort. Gwendolen had an impact on this group, though, for Alys to want to defer to her.

Or, perhaps Alys had accepted what she was good at.

Whatever the case, the plan was made, and the man was the first to start walking back to camp. The dead deer wasn’t picked up by either, and it did cause Ahmose to ask, “What were they out here for?”

“Hunting, food it seems. Should I—”

But Ahmose wrinkled his nose and shook his head, “I can’t stand that smell,” so he was fine with leaving the dead creature behind. He wasn’t going to endure the scent of more dead and bleeding animal. It was sickening to him.

So, Fenuku and Ahmose followed after the rebels.

~***~

There were some things that were simply unacceptable. It was in that moment the dhampir was pleased she had reserved her strength and blood, when it became clear the intent was to defang her.
‘Death or life.’

Her arms were still bound when she was shoved into a chair. The red-head and her guards were out the door before Gwen reacted, not letting her legs be bound to the chair as well. A kick to the chin of vampire who came to do that was startling enough. The file he held slipped from his hands and he backed up, nose wrinkled and anger in his expression.

Gwendolen stood from the chair and kicked it aside so it wouldn’t be so easy to get her to sit in it. The others in the room moved to engage and she took in a deep breath.
‘This is going to fucking hurt.’ A sharp twist of her left arm cut it where the bindings were, and the blood spilt down, creating the necessary lubrication and disturbing every vampire in the room from their initial focus.

Human blood, after all, was still in her veins.

It was just enough time for Gwendolen to get the one hand out of its binds, which had the effect of freeing both. She stepped backward and picked up a small blade off one of the medical tables, and gave them all a smile. “I don’t suppose you’ll let me pass?”

The answer came when one of the guards ran at her. She moved just a second fast enough, and he collided with the wall, striking his head hard against it. She neatly grabbed him by his hair and slit that lovely vein in his neck with the knife. It wouldn’t be a fast death, but he would bleed out if not treated.

Alys sent someone back for the deer and walked to her tent it was time she caught some sleep and the feeling of her bald was calling. She couldn't do it to much though. It would be too noticeable. Drake was busy setting up the things she promised Ahmose and she was drained. She wasn't meant to be a leader, people died when she led. She let the flap fall behind her and looked into her tent she turned on the lantern and walked over to her bed in the floor. It was larger than most since it used to hold two people now one side was well used and the other side we pressed clean and stinking of Kegan. She flopped on her side and undid her hair. It fell in waves and she pulled the covers over her head. She was exhausted so exhausted that the noise of them putting up the tent for Ahmose next to her didn't even keep her from falling asleep.

<***>

Aiden awoke a little while later, he was finally able to think clearly he sat up and thought about Gwen, he hoped she wasn't to deep in trouble after all it was his fault she was being tortured. He rubbed his head and stood walking back over to the fridge for more blood.

The woman watched the camera angrily she pressed the button and sent more guards. She ground her teeth and cursed in Irish before continuing with the mounds of paperwork on her desk. She wasn't that worried.

“Your tent will be over there,” Dean said when he returned, pointing towards the structure being put up.

Ahmose nodded, but mostly ignored Dean. He walked to Drake, and spoke lowly, “How do you intend to alert the vampires to this trade situation?” He had to ask, because he couldn’t imagine a human could deliver a letter without being executed on the spot. He wanted this to work, but he didn’t know how they planned to do this.

He was concerned and intrigued that Drake had even thought it was a possibility.

~***~

Gwendolen’s goal was not to fight them all, it was to make an escape. The dhampir already knew she was outnumbered, and that situation would not improve. So, when the door opened, she made a break for it.

She managed to slip by the person holding it open to let themselves in, but was caught by the vampire behind them, and slammed against the nearest wall. The person’s second hand quickly found her throat, and squeezed as it tugged her away from the wall.
‘They don’t want me unconscious.’ The thought came with a glorious realization. Of course they didn’t want her unconscious, they wanted her to feel her fang being filed down.

They’d eventually do it, no doubt, but for the moment she’d take advantage of their foolish leniency.

She plunged the blade she still had deep into the back of the hand around her throat, and felt it release her. She left the blade, turned, and ran down the hall. Unfortunately for the vampires, they had let her see the make-up of this place when they led her in. She knew the way out.

Drake looked at Ahmose, some how he had gotten Alys on his side some how he had gotten past her hate. He wasn't fooling Drake though. "That is Alys call. Knowing her she'll go herself, but I'm not in the loop anymore it seems so I can't really say." He spat never had Alys treated him like this, like a lackey. They were always together, they only had each other. Or that is what he had thought. He walked off to his tent rage burning in his stomach.

<***>

The woman cursed again as the girl disappeared off screen she stood and screamed into the phone ordering all available personnel on her case. If she made it out there would be more guards out side and she was in the capital city surrounded by vampires. They could all smell her from a mile away. But the woman had her pride and no little girl was going to escape the Phoenix 's prison. She slammed n the red alert button. No one would ever escape from her prison.

Ahmose could hear the bitterness in Drake’s tone. A part of him wanted to apologize, but he wasn’t sure what he would be apologizing for. “All right,” he accepted the information and gave a nod, “Thank you.” He looked to Fenuku, “You have been up and about, have you not?”

“Y-yes,”

“Let us go find that Dean. We have a cat to rescue.” And it was night for a few more hours yet. He hoped that Dean would at least allow him to do that. He’d go under supervision so that he wouldn’t become suspicious again.

~***~

There was a manic laugh building in the dhampir’s throat as she ran and dodged. ‘I need a weapon. Again.’ The thunder of a gun rang through the halls and knicked the wall as she turned the corner. The gates were ahead, locked, but the keypad was right besides it.

If she weren’t being assaulted, normally she would try to hack it, but there was too much violence around for her to consider it.

So, she whipped right around and skimmed her opponents for someone with a keycard. Her eyes zeroed in on one who wore it around her neck, and the smile on her lips broadened. The next bullet that flew struck her in the chest, but she seemed not to care. Aiden may have assessed right—she was more vampire than human, in many ways. One of them was that she could press through non-fatal pain quite easily.

She lunged at the guard with the card, and dug her fangs right into the neck of the woman. They tore through muscle and veins, and blood splashed Gwen’s clothing, stained her face. The woman hit the ground on her back, and Gwen released her, took the card, and ran right back to the keypad as the other guard stared in horror at the gaping wound left by Gwen.

A slide of the card, and both gates opened. She tossed the card behind her and ran out, finding herself quickly surrounded by guards.

An alarm sounded in the city, and that was when Gwen finally laughed, guns and blades lifted in threat, but not in immediate assault. It was hilarious how they were trying to keep her alive still. Simply hilarious.

Alys awoke an hour or so later rocked by a nightmare. She sat up soaked with sweat. Her muscles were screaming from being so tense. She stood knocking the blankets away from her. She strapped on her knives and walked out of her tent. The night air hit her making her shiver at the sweat that slicked her olive skin and thick black mane. She slid on her boots and laced them up before stumbling across camp toward the water fall. She needed a bath something to wash away the memory of her dream with out cutting. She was used to no sleep but she was still groggy as she made her way through the under growth to the roar of water.

<***>

The woman screamed in frustration firey hair whipping behind her as she ran through the night. She had ordered them not to kill but she was starting to change her mind on the decision.

"Shoot to kill!" she screamed at the guards she ran past clutching her gun in her weaker hand. She hissed and made her way through the carnage to the girl she aimed her gun and emptied the clip aiming to kill.

Though Dean was angry about being manipulated, he was talked into allowing Ahmose to go get his cat, if it was still where he left it. He went with the Egyptian, and the two ducked security to get into the hotel and into the room Ahmose had been using. The cat was still there, a black sphynx-type. “Hello, beautiful,” Ahmose greeted it, and it climbed up on his arm and came to perch on his shoulder like a parrot.

They managed to escape, too. The path they took to camp led them by a waterfall, since the noise would likely keep them from being heard by others. They stumbled upon it as Alys arrived, which clearly surprised Dean and the other two. “Oh, sorry,” Dean said, assuming Alys was there for a swim. He averted his gaze. “We’ll be on our way back to camp, er, sorry again.”

~***~

Gwendolen heard the shout as she managed to barrel through someone in her way and snatch the blade at his hip. He’d chosen gun as his weapon, rather than sword.

Her eyes found the red woman, and she had to move fast to avoid getting struck by the hail of bullets that came not just her, but from all those suddenly ordered to kill. ‘Shit, shit, shit.’

Something brushed by and burned her ankle. Another went right through her arm, by her ear, and through the small of her back, missing the spine. Gwendolen made it around a corner to put a building between herself and the shooters. The pain at her ankle, however, was burning through her, and made her steps difficult. ‘Think. How did you get here?’

Gwendolen didn’t know that. She didn’t know the way out, and panic started to grip her heart, which was pumping blood out of her wounds with every beat. Thirst was growing. ‘Fuck it!’ She ran. It was what she had to do, had to keep doing, even as she realized escape was futile at that moment. Her blood would give her location away, no matter what. She was royally screwed, but she wouldn’t admit it.

Alys having been getting undressed covered herself as Dean, the vampire, and his human thundered through the forest. She was more pissedthan she was embarrassed she glared at the trio daggers in her eyes. She was almost completely naked just left in her panties and her clothes were hanging on the limb behind her. "This is supposed to be a private spot, not one to just come running through." She growled angrily she was trying her best to conceal everything at once but there was a lot of skin to see and that scars criss crossing her biseps were clearly visible even the newest one which was scabbed over. She made eye contact with Ahmose who hadn't turned away.

<***>

The woman cursed in Irish and watched the girl escape. She bolstered her gun and turned on her heel glaring at her guards she hissed fangs elongated.

"What are you staring at, go get her!" She screamed and stamped her combat booted foot angerly. They all jumped to action gathering themselves before plunging after her into the city.

<***>

Aiden opened the bag with his mouth and took a long drought of the cold blood. He almost gagged. It was time for a hunt. So he dressed for a hunt leaving his armor. He hid it for safe keeping and walked out the door. He closed his eyes and it must of been his imagination but he already smelled the fresh blood.

In all his years, Ahmose really didn’t understand modesty or why nudity was such a problem for so many. It wasn’t until the accusing glare of Alys made contact with him that he realized he shouldn’t be looking at her and wondering why her arm was the target of so much attack. He averted his gaze up, and Fenuku grabbed the sleeve of his shirt.

“C’mon,” Dean was the one who spoke, “Sorry. We were just coming back from a town. He had to get his cat,” and Dean turned to take a route back to camp, since he knew the way from here. Everyone knew this location since it was, indeed, a bathing spot. Dean just hadn’t expected anyone to be here.

Fenuku pulled Ahmose along with them, and the cat opted to jump from Ahmose’s shoulder to Fenuku’s when he made one particular hard pull. “Gah! Claws…” Fenuku winced, but kept walking as the cat made itself comfortable on its new perch.

~***~

The dhampir wasn’t faster than vampires.

The dhampir wasn’t stronger, and the pain was starting to make itself known more and more.

Giving up wasn’t in her veins. Her mind ran through options as her feet kept running, looking for the main roads of the city, looking for the way out of it. ‘If I can get out, I can cover my tracks with other animals. Or if I can find where humans are kept, I can hide among them.’

One deep breath drew in two particular scents. Humans, and the one truly familiar vampire.

The realization that Aiden was close came too late, for she rounded the corner and realized then she had managed to wander into the area where he lived, “DAMN IT!” She couldn’t help but scream, and she turned right around to exit that area without passing Aiden, only to see the vampires had caught up.

She didn’t have the strength to push through them again.

Alys continued undressing. She hung up her underwear and jumped in the clear blue water. She let the water fall push her further down till she run out of air and popped back up above the surface. She hoped they hadn't seen to much, Dean had looked away right of way but Ahmose and the old man had kept staring like they didn't know she didn't want them to see her. She brushed the wet hair out of her face and sighed the water felt good but her newest cut burned. She ignored it and began scrubbing away all the dirt on her body.

Aiden was distracted by the blood until he caught the familiar scent underneath. His eyes shot open and he turned his head I that direction. He took off at top speed. He stopped at a cover seeing the girl facing a whole gang of vampires she looked defeated. He had to make a decision risk his neck and save the girl or watch her die. He cursed himself in his own language then took off. Full speed ahead, he scooped up the girl. The hood over his head shielded his face and the scent of blood covered his as he leaped up the side of a building and took off over the roof tops. It caught the men off guard and he gained a huge distance by the time they got their bearings.

Dean and the two marched on back to camp, where there was some excitement from once cold rebels when they saw the cat that Ahmose brought with him.

So, Ahmose ended up sitting amidst the rebels and introducing them all to his hairless cat, “Her name is Bast,” he informed them as the sphynx sucked up all the attention she could, brushing her head against the many hands that wanted to see her.

Rebels didn’t often have the luxury of owning a cat. It wasn’t exactly an animal that could be used as a guard, or for any other reason except comfort.

Gwen braced herself when she saw Aiden rush, thinking to strike him, but his move was not what she suspected. The blade hit air as he scooped her up, and ran. ‘What?’

To struggle, or not to struggle, that was the question. Gwendolen was too surprised to struggle at first, and when she got her bearings, she demanded, “What are you doing?!” In a hissed whisper, not wanting to draw unnecessary attention by shouting it.

Alys finished bathing and got dressed. She braided her hair and laced her boots back up. She hooked on her holsters then returned to camp. She noticed a giant circle in the middle of the camp with Ahmose and that hairless cat in the middle she made her way over and was amazed by the way everyone was in aww by the ugly creature. She wondered herself what it felt like to pet such a creature.

Aiden launched himself and the girl from one roof to the other and continued running. He wasn't breathing so he didn't have to smell the blood but he had to continue to answer her question. "I believe I'm saving your ass." He said quickly before the smell got to him again. He kept running until the buildings were further apart and he was having to leap from roof to roof.

Ahmose did notice when Alys returned, and saw her looking on at the crowd and his cat. He made a gesture, “You can come pet Bast,” he said, since she seemed to stand apart. “She’s very friendly.” The cat turned her orange eyes to the human that Ahmose was talking to, then went back to strutting around the circle of humans that had come to pet her.

Gwendolen was so very confused as to why Aiden would do that, so much so that she wasn’t sure if she believed him. However, the memory of his interaction with the red-head made her want to believe him, or at least hope he’d take her to someone besides that woman. Anyone who wouldn’t file her fangs would be just fine with Gwen. “All right then,” she let out in a sigh, and decided not to trouble him with struggling or further questions.

Alys walked over to the circle next to Ahmosr she crouched as the cat made its rounds. It came to her last running it's leathery head against her calloused hands. She couldn't help but smile as its our vibrated through her hand. The dogs around camp were much less cuddly. She rubbed her head and the cat rubbed against her then continued on to the rest. Alys watched the cat it was quite a funny animal.

Aiden knew just where to take her to get all patched up. She had a few bullets lodged inside her that were keeping me her from healing. He jumped onto the last roof and slid down the shingles till he landed on his feet outside the back door. He opened the door and walked inside, it was pitch black and silent his eyes adjusted slightly and he flickered on the light. An ancient man was laying in a cot across from a tiny cook Fire. He opened his golden eyes slowly but they saw nothing. He inhaled and sat up.

"Aiden? And friend?" He had looked past the blood and that was hard for how much there was.

"Ceaserus, I need your help." The ancient vampire stood he looked frail and old but he moved pretty quickly as he motioned for Auden to lay the girl on his cot.
