Ramshackle Plaza (RP)

((Oh, woops. Sorry. I don't think I saw your last post, and I was trying to wait for other people to show up so he could find them, but I guess no one's coming back? :( ))

Nicolai spent a while wandering around the Plaza with Reese, letting the dog find all the familiar smells and pause to inspect the news ones, and following his lead as the animal ran around. They were on one of their trips back down to the lobby when Reese barked and made for the stairs again, finding Dana at the top of the steps. Nicolai smiled a little and gave a wave, leaning against the railing near the bottom of the steps. "So how'd it go?"

Dana waved back and smiled, "it went great! I met some people and ate a great dinner." She replied. It really was a great time, but she was glad to be back. "What did you do all day?"

Nicolai shrugged. "Oh, I was around, just checking up on things. Sometimes people here don't realize when things need to be fixed." He usually did a few rounds of the house, to say hello to everyone but also to check nothing was broken, no leaks were coming from the ceiling and no pipes were broken or other such things. "I'm not a repairman, but I do know one."

"You know a lot of people it seems. But that's cool that you check around." Dana said. She looked at the clock on the wall and figured it was getting pretty late. "Hey, I'm gonna head up to my room. You can join if you want to? I don't wanna be lonely anyway, really." She offered, figuring it would be cool to hang out.

Nicolai debated a moment on whether or not he should follow. He was of age, of course, and most people here were not, so he tended to stay out of bedrooms unless invited for some specific, utilitarian purpose. Unfortunately for Mouse, though, the small boy happened to be passing by in Nicolai's line of sight, and Nicolai was up the stairs before Mouse could make a discreet exit.

"Matthew!" He cried, giving the boy a big hug and then tugging on his arm after Dana. "Come spend time with us!" Mouse was faintly pink already, but couldn't bring himself to speak loud enough or with enough rudeness to refuse. He was doomed, wasn't he?

Dana felt a little worried when Nicolai made Mouse go with them. "Uh, it kinda seems like he doesn't want to. You don't have to either, if you don't want to. I don't mind." She waited for his response. She felt kinda weirded out by how he acted, like he didn't want to go alone.

Nicolai looked at Mouse, holding his arm but loosely and not pulling, so that the boy could pull away if he felt like it. Mouse glanced down at where Reese sat, wagging his tail with eager anticipation, and shuffled his feet. "I - I'll g-go. . ." He stuttered quietly, and just let himself be led along after that.

Nicolai grinned. "It'll be fun."

"Oh uh cool. Let's go then." Dana said as she pushed the button for the elevator. As she waited, Dana looked down at her shoes, the beat up converse high tops shes had since when she left the house. When the elevator button dinged she jumped a little then went inside.

Nicolai wandered into the elevator after Dana and Reese trotted in at his side, sitting next to his feet like a good dog. Mouse stayed close to Nicolai, not for any particular like of the older man's physical contact but because it was easier being around familiar people - even annoying ones. His pet mouse - Lockhart - popped out of his pocket and crawled up to his shoulder during the ride, and Mouse stroked the little animal's head with a finger to keep him calm. He didn't like elevators. It was why Mouse usually took the stairs.

Dana pushed her floor number and pulled her hood off her head, exposing her hair. She never did that usually, it was rare, since she hated her hair. But it was hot in the elevator. When it came to her floor she walked down the hallway then reached her room, she walked in and put her bag down. As she pulled some plaid pajama bottoms out of her drawer she told her guests, "Sit down, make yourself comfortable." Then she walked into the bathroom to change.

Nicolai took a seat in one of the chairs in the room, utterly at home and relaxed - as well he should be, after spending so much time in this place. Mouse, on the other hand, just sat on the floor, cross-legged and with Lockhart in his hands and Reese pressed up against his side. Mouse wasn't good with people, but Nicolai knew he loved animals.

Dana came out of the bathroom now in her pajama pants. She sat down next to Nicolai and asked, "So what do you guys wanna do?" As she petted Reese she looked at both of them, wondering what they're gonna say.

Nicolai shrugged a little. "We could play the Greeting game." He said, then laughed lightly when Mouse made a face. "I know you hate it, but talking is good. It's not really a game, just something I like to make the newcomers do. We just talk about ourselves, that's all. Ask questions without any obligation to answer."

Dana listened and smiled. She wanted to learn more about them both. "Sure, that seems fun!" She said as she got drinks for all of them out of her mini fridge, and filling up a bowl of water for Reese.

Nicolai smiled and nodded, looking at Mouse. "Well, let's start with you, Matthew. How long have you been here at the Plaza?"

Mouse shifted a little, clearly uncomfortable but cooperating. "F-Four years. . ."

Mouse shifted again, petting Lockhart gently to distract himself, but wouldn't look at them. ". . . I'm waiting for s-someone. . ."

Nicolai smiled a little and patted the small boy's shoulder. "He'll be back for you." Mouse gave him a little smile, but that was it.

"Oh. Okay." Dana ignored anymore questions for him, seeing that he was uncomfortable. "Anymore questions, Nicolai?" She asked.

Nicolai shrug. "Well, what about you, Dana?" He leaned back on a hand, petting Reese's back when the dog drank happily from the bowl. "Where were you before this place?"

"Well, my friend's house actually. My parents kicked me out so I crashed at her place. But then things got bad so I left and found this place." Dana said, shuddering at the remembrance of her friend's house before she left.

Nicolai just smiled, empathetic but as if nothing was wrong. "This is a place for new starts and turnabouts, should they be needed. What about me?" He grinned. "Questions for me?"

"Hm. Sure." Dana said as she took a sip of her drink. "Why did you come here?" As she took a drink, Dana wondered something. She remembered how her and her friend stole wine from her parent's liquor cabinet and had a drink. She wished she could have some right now.

Nicolai tilted his head a bit to the side. "Oh, I don't live here. I just visit a lot, that's all." He laughed. "Sometimes it's almost like I do live here, I'm here so often."

((leaving for work in ten))

"Oh, that's cool." Dana nodded as she got up to put her empty can in the trash. She stretched and sat back down. "So what now? Anymore questions for me?"

(( Alright! Are you going to reply after work? Or will it be late? (: ))
