"Hey hey hey!!!! A doggie person! I love your ears! I'm super jealous!!!" Salt wasted next to no time begining to accost Siri and his animalistic accouterments. Which of course involved touching Siri's hear and ears. "Back home we had a maid who was a kitty cat! She was wonderful and funny and cute! She was very good at making sweets!

And she had gigantic b- Oh a grimm!" He cut his words short to quickdraw, with a cannon, fire from the hip at an approaching beowulf. The right arm of the creature ripped from it's for with a shower of viscera, a unclean and horrible kill.

But one nonetheless.

"Oh! Ohohohohoh! We gotta do a thing next year?! Next thing next thing!!!

Gotta get the flag before the others do!

Can't stay around here Jazzy and Doggy.

Lets shake a leg and burn a path!!! Yea! Fuck the trees! Nothing gets in our way!" It was, pretty clear, from the fact he was loading a large chunk of fire dust his burn a path statement was... litteral...

...and dangerously so...

As reason begins to evaporate, the world begs somebody to reign in this boy.

Bombarded by Salt's chatter Sirius floundered, being outside of Vacuo for the first time he'd been concerned at experiencing racism from humans but this was vary much the opposite problem. "Woah woah hold on!" Seeing the grabby hands coming he threw up his hands defensively and a shimmering wall flashed into existence shoving Salt away. Dismayed he backed away from the others trying to rein in his panic. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry it's my semblance I can't really control it." He'd hoped to at least get through the initial exercise and build some trust with his team before his condition reared it's head and painted him as a ticking time bomb.

Noticing a pair of beowolves stalking closer Sirius drew King and Queen and shot one at each grimm as they charged. King struck it's target in the chest and burst in a fiery explosion while Queen lodged in the other's eye dropping it the ground twitching with crackling electricity, putting another field behind Queen he gave it an extra shove through the beowolf's head.

Pulling the knives back to him he tuned back into Salt's wittering he tried to decipher what he was on about next year then turned to see him loading a shot to clear the forest. "W-wait there could be other teams out there!" His semblance automatically responded to try and restrain Salt but fizzled out against the boy's own aura.

"...Indeed." Lumiere's brow furrowed. This woman- Olivia, was like an onslaught. She reminded her of some of the younger, rowdier children amongst her siblings, if only in passing. In any other situation, she might have doubted the woman's competence, but it paid to remember where one was. Vytal was the realm of the elite, and it was above her station to question the judgement of its gatekeepers.

Of course, she followed after Olivia without voicing any of those thoughts. Between the woman's mania, and her own natural sluggishness, she'd hardly the chance to do anything but keep pace with her. She supposed it wasn't surprising, the manic gait of her movements throughout the environment, but her sudden burst into movement had taken her off guard a touch. Before long, though, she had hit her stride and matched the other woman's rhythm, dashing along her side in a much more conventional, but none the less speedy sprint.

Soon enough their trackers had led them to the right place, the sounds of the other pair's brawl were made apparent, as well as their bickering. As they met with edge of the scene, Lumiere stopped in her tracks, and motioned for Olivia to do the same.

"It'd be best if we didn't interrupt, don't you think?" She spoke calmly, but her eyes rang with a spark of suspicion. A bizarre personality was one thing, in fact, it was all too common amongst the savants of the world, but antagonism was something else entirely. How were they expected to work as a team, if two of them were already stepping on each other's toes?

"It's a good chance to catch a glimpse of who we'll be working with, no?"

Olivia had frozen at the sight of her other teammates, mesmerized by the way they glimmered. Leaning forward a bit, she cooed as she watched both take on the Grimm with their shimmer on full display. But there was something wrong, and Lumiere had undoubtedly taken note of it as well. Even while they were beautifully culling the mockeries parading around as Grimm, they already seemed at odds with one another. That wasn't swell, but Olivia was fairly certain it was something they'd get over with time.

Lum-Lum had motioned for her to stay back, but at that point Olivia was already drawing two arrows. There was no way she'd be missing out on her first battle with her wonderful new teammates. Besides the arguing, their skirmish looked too fun to just let pass her by. First impressions were important after all, and she simply refused to come across as someone who was anything other than completely invested.

"A lovely idea, Darling." she snickered to Lumiere as she dipped her arrows into different tubes of dust "But one I cannot come to follow!"

The very Boarbutusk that both of her teammates were gunning for was just about to retaliate after Marigold's attack, launching into a charge that was cut all too short by the arrow which punctured its eye before exploding into a large chunk of ice. The sudden formation of the ice now covering half its head threw off its weight and caused the beast to tilt to the side right before a second arrow found its soft underbelly and blasted it open.

Olivia didn't even wait for the thing to disappear before prancing towards the two of them, waving her free hand in the air and laughing loudly, "Finally we are united, my beautiful little glimmers!" she called out as she frolicked towards them, smiling under her mask "And already showing off those adorable Auras!"

She closed the distance between them with her eyes gleaming with happiness, but a figure rose from the shrubs to her left before she could continue. Covered in lacerations, leaves, and parts of broken trees; the Ursa that Caeso had ridden earlier didn't seem to share in the Masked girl's enthusiasm. In fact, the hulking creature immediately lunged from at her the moment she pranced past it. Lebenskuss immediately jerked back, yanking Olivia out of the way of the claw. But despite the interruption of the Ursa, she just kept on going.

"Oh, I can just see the precious colors we'll be making!" she laughed while spinning under the Grimm's next swing "These hues, the contrast, it is the painter's dream I'm sure!"

Leaning back out of the way of snapping jaws, Olivia hopped back out of the creature's range whilst drawing two more arrows. Without missing a beat, she sent both of those arrows into the Ursa's eyes before glancing up and taking note of the Nevermore swerving back towards them. Olivia placed a hand over her heart and sighed happily as the now-blinded Ursa swung its claws in the direction of her voice while roaring.

"And to celebrate our joining with the butchering of these insults." she gave a humored shake of her head before pulling Lebenskuss apart and slipping out of the way of the enraged Grimm's assault "This day grows more pleasant by the second!"

Dusting himeself off the explosion, Vanta stared at the mechanized bear head. He spat on it.

"Tch. Real grimm are terrifying. They don't have rhyme or reason. You can't algorithm that. Attacking the nearest creature? That's not scary, that's sensible. Attacking someone for having a bad day while walking straight past another? Now that, that is terrifying. I've had a lot of bad days."

He kicked the head into the water, and continued in his path. He check his scroll.

His eye twitched. 'Seen'. He could understand if she was busy fighting the shitty Grimm. Or middle of another task. But to see his message and not respond?! Maybe he had a wrong number. But still, a tactful 'wrong number' wasn't that hard. What sort of irresponsible.... Tch. He mentaly added to a list of people to hate later. Then again, his default opinion of people was on that list. She just managed to not get off it.

"Bet she humps Grimm with name like that."

Following his own screenshot, Vanta saw the beginnings of a swamp. He also saw on the watch he was SUPPOSED to be watching a teammate nearby. "what?" He looked around, seeing no one.

But the location was exactly the same as where he was. Did someone lose their watch? GPS spooking? Or...?

Vanta looked up to see a familar face from the bus.

"Oi, the hell you doing up there? ... See anything useful? What was your name?"

Vanta flipped through his phone.

"Ashton Kno... @#$@ it."

Vanta began to climb the tree as well. It was actually nice to get a good vantage point, and a freaky tall person like him was less likely to get flack from up high. He was normally found perched up high on a room. Pulling himself up on an adjacent branch he sighed.

"We're supposed to be timed, but we seem to have an idiot as a teammate, and I can't find the other's contact info anywhere. I think we got time. Not that I plan on getting cozy. Apparently our flags in with that swamp. What do you do? Gimme a quick rundown. I make things go boom and have an unstable semblance, but the boom gets big."

Eyes wide, Jasper instinctively brought his hands up to calm Salt down. Looking to his feet, he found that he was actually backing away. Mentally cursing out his well toned self preservation instinct, Jasper reluctantly stepped towards Salt. Deciding a calm approach would be best, Jasper said "No, no, no, oh my god no!".

Jasper found it a little hard to keep calm, actually.

"No boom boom, okay? Please no boom boom. I like my hearing the way it is" Jasper said, hesitantly laying a hand on the cannon. Sweat rolling down his brow, Jasper held his hands towards Salt in a way that just told them to chill.

"Alright, no boom boom" Jasper said, letting out a long and drawn out sigh of relief. Deciding it was best to just move on, Jasper pulled up his tracker. "Anyone wanna hear about our next task? Yeah? Thought so. You can blow stuff up when we get there" Jasper said, obviously aiming the last part at Salt. "Gimme a sec to home in on it" Jasper said, motioning for them to wait with one hand as he distracted spun in a 360 to find the flag's direction. After a few seconds, Jasper had realized he'd spun around in multiple circles.

Eye brows scrunching up in confusion, Jasper hit the tracker against the side. No beep boops. "I, uh, can't actually find it. Is it working for anyone else?" Jasper asked, now looking through the settings of the tracker. Unfortunately, he had no idea what any of the settings did. He managed to turn on low power mode, change the color theme, and somehow turn on a fan before he gave up. Give him a break, alright? Vacuo's tech made ham radios look like flying cars.

Raising the thing to his head, the tracker finally beeped. "Got it! It's due Nor-Oh" Jasper said, stopping mid sentence as he stared at what the tracker was beeping at. Squinting at the great oak towering above the treeline in the distance, Jasper lowered the tracker. No beeping. Then he raised it again. beeping.

"Well, uh, does anyone know how to fly?" Jasper asked, staring worriedly at the tree.

"And would now be a good time to mention that I have a fear of heights?"

 
Anger quickly turned to exasperation as not only did Marigold not have the common decency to stay out of his way, but as if summoned from the depths of hell itself another girl had appeared. This new arrival took it upon themselves to steal the Boarbatusk kill from under both its original opponents, rendering their bickering mute with a single well placed arrow. Ice blossomed from the beast’s eye and as it shattered into nothingness it took any hopes of Caeso getting a win out of this situation.


Before the insult that was brewing in his throat had a chance to find its mark the group was interrupted by a familiar face, the Ursa he’d ridden here, covered in about half of the forests plant life. Excellent! With any luck the beast would swat these two aside and he could finish what he’d started, the sooner he could get away from blondie and Legolas here the better. So many distractions, none of them what he’d been expecting to be his biggest grievances today. Then of course before he could act the masked girl went to town on the Grimm, methodically removing it of it’s sight with two more expertly shot arrows.


He could only stand there in utter bewilderment as she spoke, each new word bouncing off his skull like so many stones. The painters dream? Was it possible he was having an aneurysm? Glancing at Marigold to make sure she was also bearing witness to the madness unfolding before them he was glad to see that he wasn’t alone in his suffering, it seemed she too could see the masked archer.


“I honestly didn’t understand a word you just said.” Groaned Caeso as he shook his head in a last ditch attempt to convince himself this might just be a bad dream. Nope, awake sadly. Luckily his hunting drive rushed back and pushed all the confusion aside for the moment, determination flooding his veins as he focused on the swings of the blind beast. “But I have a score to settle with that one, it’s mine.”


After Marigold had already proven herself a poor listener, Caeso intended to finish the Ursa as quickly as possible with one decisive attack. He was all out of patience for others getting in his way. He launched the grappling function of his two gauntlets toward the Grimm, four blades flying out with robust cables attached that once they found their mark would provide a secure anchor with which he could reel himself towards. The blades found their mark on either side of the Grimm’s chest and sunk deep into its matted black fur, almost vanishing entirely. One moment Caeso was stood by Marigold and the next he was braced against the back of the Ursa, having been flung toward it at an incredible rate by the mechanised reel concealed in his gauntlets only to purposely over shoot, the blades tight hold causing him to bounce back to his current position rather than into the treeline. Using Null and Voids remaining two claws he set about launching a flurry of rapid strikes between the Ursa’s shoulder blades, making mincemeat of the flesh in a matter of seconds. The poor blind bastard never stood a chance and although he preferred a fair fight where possible Caeso was happy to have at least finished the beast himself. There was just one problem.


“Your kidding me… you two are the teammates I’ve been out here looking for? Just my luck.” He muttered in utter disbelief, glaring at the two names pulsating on the tracker strapped to his leg as if he could somehow intimidate reality into changing with his gaze.

Celeste watched as the one named Salt landed in front of the group with a cannon the size of her? Him? Them? She didn't know how to react. She didn't care all too much on the semantics of the situation she had found herself in. Throwing her hands up into the air, Celeste whooped and dove at the Grimm, smashing them with the hammer. Of course smashing Grimm skulls was fun, but after the fact, they were just dead. "Awww.... they didn't last long." Looking back to her team, she smiled, and held up a peace sign.

"So where do we go from here?" she asked, looking around, completely forgetting about the tracker on her wrist. Hearing Jasper talk about the tracker she shook her wrist a few times to get it working again. Noting the beeps, she looked up at the large tree in the distance. "We're supposed to climb that?!" she shouted out, looking up. The tree was tall, very tall. She could probably climb it. "We got this Jas!" she exclaimed pumping her arms. "That's easy for me!"

Taking off in a reasonable pace through the forest, Celeste began humming a tune. This wasn't quite the opening to her story she wished for, but it would do. "Onward we go!"

MARIGOLD CROWN | TEAM FLOC
Marigold could practically feel the sensation of her blade hitting the Grimm only to find her kill taken away by a swift projectile she only noticed once it had hit the Boarbatusk and caused a flurry of ice to violently tear at its face. In a surge of annoyance, Marigold halted her movements and jerked back, ready to redirect her attack at her already beloved teammate whom she had instantly blamed for the theft of her kill. To her surprise, it wasn't him.

A light confusion hinted in her expression as Marigold watched a particularly short girl prance out of the tree line, a bright wave and laugh swiftly dismissing any hostility Marigold had felt in the moment. Shortly glancing at the radar around her arm, the unknown girl's actions swiftly managed to make more sense. It seemed that yet another teammate had joined the fray.

Kind but a tad on the weird side, that was pretty much the first impression Marigold felt as she listened to the girl speaking. Truth be told, Mari didn't really know what more to think about her aura-filled talk, but she already liked this girl way more than the brutish menace that she met first. At least she seemed civilised and an actual asset to the team, even though her words managed to confuse Mari just ever so slightly.

With the appearance of a particularly wrecked Grimm, Mari was swiftly reminded that now was no time for talking. Olivia's mystical talking was cut off by the grim tones of Caeso's blabbering, but Marigold could only roll her eyes when he spoke of 'having a score to settle'. He sure seemed territorial.

As much as she still wanted to teach Farran a lesson, Mari knew it was best not to jump into the flurry of blades that Olivia and Caeso were causing. Instead, she turned her buckler into its crossbow mode and kept her arm carefully aimed at the Ursa in case she saw a clean shot. Unfortunately, the presence of two teammates didn't exactly help with hitting the creature, so she decided not to shoot. They were doing a pretty good job at viscerating the opponent, anyway.

Luckily, another target seemed to be well on its way towards the battlefield, causing Mari to abruptly lift her arm diagonally in the sky as she traced after the Nevermore. Without a doubt, Marigold took a shot, the bolt scraping past the Nevermore's wing. The creature swiftly took note of the barrage, diverting its attention to Marigold, the Nevermore's squawking joined the cacophony of sounds created by Caeso violently tearing up the poor Ursa. Her breaths growing slightly faster, Marigold gazed directly into the Nevermore's Red eyes as it flew right at her. Luckily, she had one more bolt left.

The silent release of the bolt was followed up by the volatile blast of the bolt's eruption in a shroud of fire, causing the inflamed Nevermore to rapidly fall to the ground and shatter into the void. The shot was awfully well-timed, for Marigold's kill was just in time for her to hear more of Caeso's brooding.

While her crossbow jumped back into the metal bracer, Marigold couldn't help but raise her eyebrows at Caeso's remark, scoffing as she closed the distance.

"I suggest you keep your brooding to yourself. We have an assignment to finish." Marigold responded, her tone of voice hinting of obvious annoyance. Perhaps she was being a bit harsh, but this guy's attitude clashed really badly with the young Crown. If this was the way he would treat others, she had no reason to act nicely towards him.

Turning to face the other girl, Olivia's expression and tone of voice both took a much lighter, friendlier turn. She had seen the name prior, and aligning it with the initials chasing after the dots wasn't exactly a tough task.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Olivia." Mari said, smiling at the masked girl. "Weren't you accompanied by our last teammate?" She would add, having taken note of the proximity of the two dots prior to this encounter. It was about time they would all get together, for Marigold was aiming for first place. It was of high importance to make a good impression on the staff as soon as possible, after all.

It appears his squad were... Uh... What did Gramma call em?

Ah right.

A buncha god damn pansies!!!

Except the one who comepletely glossed over everything and ignored his intentions. "Aww, shes in the way of the shot now..." Salt complained, the efforts to "calm" him down sliding off him like a duck off a water's back. Much akin to the pathetic attempts to stop him with a semblance. Neat, doggy has powers to stop things, that'll be good when he needs something to stay still. However, that thing right now is not Salt, and Salt wants at that tree that was mentioned. Why?

Because the girl wants to climb it and he can't allow her to be the first to do it.

Why?

Because he wants to climb it first.

Seemingly finding his sense, he did not, Salt simply folds the cannon in half, planting the barrel in a nicely fitting area in the stock that made the total device size to become only slightly more manageable for an average human being, or faunus for that matter, and then began jogging after Celeste.

"Hey lady wait up!" His words echoed out into the woods as he barreled a smaller tree to the side as he moved through the underbrush, looking like a small angry boar was crashing through the treeline.

Her initial impressions were right, they were a rough pair. Competitive and brash, the both of them, and they seemed to be getting along about as well as cats and dogs. For a moment, they reminded her of a pair of more familiar faces, but she was quick to shake the thought. If there was ever a time to spend wandering her memories, now was not it.

Despite their poor sportsmanship, though, the pair did seem to be capable enough fighters. Even if Olivia hadn't ignored her suggestion, there wasn't much of a chance that they would have been overwhelmed; not to mention the fact that they seemed to have involved themselves in a far more violent path here than she personally had, and were hardly the worse for wear. Odd fashion sense notwithstanding, they were as decent a pair as one would expect of a couple of first years, not to dissimilar to her classmates in combat school.

Which, given where they were, was a touch concerning.

"That would be me." At Marigold's queue, Lumiere stepped into view. "Forgive me for not assisting, you seemed to have things under control." Of course, that wasn't the whole truth, but some things were better left unsaid. She doubted either of the two were in a place of mind open enough to pay any proper attention to the comments bustling about in the back of her head.

"Lumiere Yu. I've already introduced myself to Miss Basili here, but I'll be the last of your squad mates. It's a pleasure. I suppose this means we're able to pursue our actual objective, then?" As she spoke, Lumiere raised her tracker into view, which now pinged faintly at their objective. "The flag collection, yes? It'd probably be best if we set off as quickly as possible, but... I'd like your names first. For the sake of formality. If nothing else."

Lust only took his words to be a compliment... or more so she simply refused to accept any sort of insult as being valid. She had enough of a ego on her that any sort of jab dealt towards her was quite easy for her to dismiss without much effort. In a way its a benefit she wasn't the type that felt the need to prove how good she was, though it also meant she would be in no hurry as well to listen to criticism or care enough to put effort in to prove them wrong. She watched him take off past her as she had expected following suit picking up her own speed to keep up. His little thumbs up caused her to blink as she had to admit it seemed quite cheesy.

"Glad you are more then willing to do the work for me tin-man. It is a real hassle taking care of these things... at least a real Grimm as trivial as they might be its one less threat for someone helpless to have to worry about." She commented back with a tiny bit of sass though mostly seeming to show a bit of disinterest for the way the test was conducted. At least make it somewhat challenging and not some walking simulator with an arbitrary time limit. She wasn't above letting him live up to his words doing the heavy lifting though she expected it wouldn't really play out that way, Chances are she would end up lifting a finger of her own free will even if he did show her was capable of doing everything himself. As dull as the test seemed to be if they weren't going to slip past a fight to get things down quickly she might as well slice down a few of the pretend Grimm to give herself something to do. She heard him mention her people skills she looked up tilting her head curiously as if puzzled, though it wasn't too hard to tell she was simply playing stupid on purpose.

"Oh? I'm actually quite worst. I suppose something about being near a cold calculating machine helps me to be a bit more kind. Being halfway there it just puts me somewhere in the middle." She spoke back again not at all seeming afraid of insulting him. Its not like she really knew all that much about him, he could of lost his arms in a tragedy for all she knew. It wasn't something that would stop her though. She ran forward keeping in track not too far behind Amber glancing down at the coordinators she was given by Vanta before looking back to Amber as he seemed to be moving a bit off where from it.

"Cool the jets for a second, over this way. I'll take the lead, but lets not go kill crazy till we get to our teammates alright?" She spoke waving her fingers ushering him to come as she took off veering to the location of where the flag was.

As she moved forward the terrain began to change as it was clear they were entering into a swamp. Just perfect... a nice dirty place to be. She was far from the most vain as egotistic as she could be but that didn't change the fact she wasn't exactly fond of being in a swamp. It wasn't the most comfortable thing getting water in your boots. An annoyance to say the least... though it also brought some risk when it came to fighting. Chances are their mobility would be hampered depending where they might find themselves at in the swamp. It was something to keep in mind particularly for one like herself that was above high mobility hit and run tactics over being a straight up brute fighter. She glanced up noticing what she assumed to be one of her teammates perched in a tree. She nudged in that direction moving forward arriving at the base of the tree.

"Hoi... you that... um... Va-nat guy I take it?" She spoke acting as if she was trying to recall his name from memory and mispronouncing or misremembering it. She naturally knew what is name was but she wasn't about to just say it after his long winded and in her mind stupid comment he left in her scroll.

"It should be all safe now, we are here to protect you. Got any clue where our 4th wheel is? Thought they would be with you, unless you scared them off" She inquired speaking up quite nonchalant. There didn't seem to be any Grimm around at the moment so she only could assume they had been taken care of before they arrived.

Olivia had slipped out of the way the moment Caseus shot past her, skipping backwards before tossing both halves of Lebenskuss in the air. Her imprints glowing on them, the two blades began floating around her as she merrily hopped from one foot to the other, applauding his efforts and cheering him on as he finished the Ursa. The same could be said for Marigold as she turned on the Nevermore, Olivia rocking on her heels and cooing in delight as she finished off the unholy avian.

She continued to radiate joy even as Caseus and Marigold continued making tiny quips to one another, the sheer ability to view such auras intermingling like that was far too exciting. That joy only seemed to multiply as Marigold turned to address her directly, the smaller girl casually swinging her arms to and fro as she approached. Lebenskuss floated back under her coat, which she lifted out of the way so the blades could once more hook themselves to her waste. She looked up at Marigold with eyes glimmering with enthusiasm laced with fondness, yet she didn't even attempt to answer her question.

Instead she clasped her hands behind her back and leaned to the side heavily in order to look past Marigold to the tree line behind her with. Her smile widened under mask as Lumiere took that very moment to emerge from that tree line and introduce herself. Olivia clapped her hands together and proceeded to skip around her teammates, intrusively examining them all while humming playfully. Once Lumiere demanded their names out of formality, Olivia raised a finger while proceeding to daintily skipping around the three.

"Yes yes, Lum-Lum, so much about our beautiful teammates will have to be saved for later," she gave a pout under her mask while slowing down to twirl through the air "But at least I must hear them say their precious names once before striking out for our goal!"

Olivia resumed hopping around them like an invested scavenger, eyes practically goring themselves on their details,
"Even though I cannot bare the thought of holding back, I will remain resolute and content with what we have available to us."

Finally, she hopped in the middle of all the three before pausing to take a deep, courteous bow, "Know me, see me, my adorable lovelies~!" she cooed before spinning around and pressing one hand over her heart and using the other to lift up her hat "Right now you glimmer in the presence of Olivia Basili~!"

She leaned back, taking a deep whiff of their area before waving a hand in front of herself, "Oh, your Auras have been radiating such scintillating colors this entire time. Just having us all here with them intermingling is almost too beautiful to stand."

Clapping her hands over her cheeks, she practically shook with ardor "How undeniably, inexplicably, transparently enchanting you all are."

Though she began clapping again, she halted and clasped her hands together before nodding to them, "I can only hope we bath in the blood of countless abominations today!" she giggled "Nothing brings beautiful colors together like the eradication of atrocities!"

 
Amber RamielTo say this girl had a high opinion of herself was definitively an understatement as she took his comment in stride. Even with his dry delivery, she fully embraced it as nothing more than praise. Was she truly that oblivious, or was her opinion of herself truly so towering? Coming from the upper crust of society, Amber had run into his fair share of narcissists, eager to heap praise upon themselves at all times. Even he himself was rather arrogant. There were few however who came off as so blatantly conceited however. Most had the decency of pretending to be humble. And I'm going to be stuck with her for how many years? Oum strike me down now.

At the very least he could agree that this test wasn't exactly up to his standards. The fact that these 'Grimm' were nothing more than constructs was rather disappointing, were they not trying to find true warriors? If so they should have been thrown into the fire, fighting of hordes of Grimm. Now that would be a feat worthy of recognition! This was just a way to weed out the truly weak among them. "I'm no more pleased than yourself with this waste of time. Still, doesn't mean that I'm just going to start slacking off." Most would have taken that as jab, but Amber felt confident this wouldn't be the case with her.

Rather she continued to prod the man, not wasting anytime in mocking his cybernetics. It wasn't something bothered him much anymore, not after hearing all the shit his only family had to say about it. What it did do however was allow him to see just what type of person he was dealing with. As if he needed more confirmation, she was quite unpleasant. Incredibly unpleasant. An outright bitch some would say, though Amber was far to much a gentleman to ever say such a thing. "Halfway there? Being a bit generous with yourself aren't you? If a 'cold calculating machine' says you're awful at socializing, it must be really bad."

Soon enough they redirected course as Lust pinpointed their teammates location. Which seemed to be right in the middle of a dingy swamp. Of course there wasn't any other kind of swamp was there? At the very least Lust didn't look to happy about being there, something that brought a smile to his face, if only a small one. Sure, he didn't like to be trudging through muck but speed was never a strong suit of his to begin with. He'd bulldoze through the problem same as any other.

Approaching their teammate who had nestled himself in on a tree, Lust wasted absolutely no time in making a bad impression. Of course she knew his name, they all were made aware of them. Was she truly so desperate to stir trouble and drama? Stepping ahead of her, Amber glanced up to the newest addition to the group. "Don't mind little red here, she's just... How would I phrase it... Socially challenged?" Amber offered, happy to have someone else to share Lusts antics with.

"Really though, where is our fourth? We need to get a move on."

Vanta watched as a helicopter airlifted his recent friend off. Around them was a few scattered Grimm parts, mostly nevermoors. It hadn't been a lot, but apparently too much for two academy students to deal with without injury. Vanta was down to 6 grenades.

"Weak." was all he had to say to it. These were constructs. They weren't even the real thing. And yet he'd struggled. He had a long way to go. Not quite as long as that Ashton kid though. Then he heard a voice speak behind him and Vanta's blood pressure immediately spiked. He instantly drew in a sharp breath... slowly letting it out.

1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10...11...12...13...14...

Taking in another deep one, he finally jumped down, and suddenly their watches all lined up with the objective, which was nearby. Vanta was carrying two watches. He glanced at Amber, suddenly aware how tall he was, and slumped over, his posture worsening. He hated being taller than anyone else. He swore, if Lust said anything, he was going to shove a grenade down her throat, the rules be damned.

"You don't have to clarify 'socially' with that one, I already texted her, I know." was all he said motioning at Lust, and he began to walk towards the target.

"And yes. I did scare him off'. Its just the three of us. We're down a man. I don't know if we're allowed to proceed. But I have his watch, we know where the target is. I'm going for it. I'd appreciate help, my semblance sucks. But gotta do what I gotta do."

Shuffling along, he pulled out his scroll, checking the coordinates against the watch(es). "Heh... coulda been the first team. Ain't luck a pain." Groaning, he turned to the two.

"Look, tests like this never tend to be easy. They're going to do something stupid when we get to the flag. Let's walk and talk through this sludge. What do we do when a powerful Grimm shows up. I'm an... explosives.... ...expert." He said dryly and with zero enthusiasm getting close to the flag. He opened his belt revealing the strip of grenades, near down to half, and a few claymores left, and a taser sitting pretty.

Lust had looked to Amber only letting out a light laugh not seeming at all to register his words as an insult in her mind about being bad at socializing. She couldn't help but feel he was holding back a little bit. Perhaps a bit passive aggressive? I mean all she was doing was being very relaxed and open to him. It wasn't her fault he couldn't handle her way with words. She didn't really harbor any dislike her for him even if he ribbed back on her as far as she was concerned it was perfectly normal. Then again if he said it bothered him it wasn't as if Lust would likely change her tune much anyways.

Lust looked to Amber as he made a comment to vanta, lifting her arms up in a clear shrug at what he was saying. She didn't really care what he wanted to say about her socially. She naturally thought she was perfect as she was. It wasn't her fault others couldn't handle her wonderful self. She could only assume by Vanta's words that it meant the other person didn't pan out too well. A bit of a hassle, but as far as she was concerned the whole test could of easily been done by herself if need be. To give a little credit to the others she figured at least a few of the other students could do the same. Amber seemed like he might be able to... Vanta she questioned. Walking through the horrible sludge Lust looked to Vanta as he seemed to question their tactics.

"I mean... is there any real need to plan out? I'd say just do our own thing and it should be easy enough even if we gotta fight something in this obnoxious swamp. Just as long as I know your going to go throwing an explosive out I could care less what you do, I'll just take advantage of what your doing distracting it to slice its head off from behind." She spoke quite confident despite being clearly at a disadvantage with the swamp as it was. She wasn't exactly the type that really got the whole idea of 'teamwork'. She looked to Amber as if suddenly aware of him again tapping her chin realizing she didn't include him in. Again... she was very bad at teamwork... or even factoring in the fact they were around.

"Well... and Mr. Roboto here can do stuff... that can also distract it? Maybe beat it up a little? I don't know. I mean how hard can it really be? I figured if anything we just wing it and see how it goes." She spoke being clearly more carefree about what might happen. A mixture of being a little laid back on top of being so confident in her own abilities. What really would they expect to happen when they get the flag? The only thing that really has bogged her down had been the swamp and it was more so just unpleasant and annoying then anything. She didn't experience exactly what Vanta had gone through, not that it would stop her from being unworried. She figured things would fall in place for them in the end.

1585523918729.png"Yeah! Onward to glory or something!" Jasper cheered for Celeste, trying his damnedest to forget his fear of heights. Taking a deep breath, Jasper ran into the dense vegetation headfirst at full sprint. "Move it! If we finish first, we get bragging rights for life!" Jasper said, dodging and weaving through the foliage as he ran by. Man, he could see it now. Jut sitting back near the home portal, waving smugly at the other teams as they came back in. This promised sense of satisfaction pushed Jasper further, making him forget about his phobia entirely as he sprinted towards the great oak at an even faster pace.

Entering the clearing, Jasper came to a stop in front of the great oak. Looking up, jasper put a hand over his eyes to block out the sun. The great wooden tower looked like it went up forever, with twisting branches and giant green leaves stemming from everywhere along it's entire height.

Suddenly, Jasper became very aware of his fear of heights once more. Sitting down on a fallen log near the tree's base, Jasper looked to his assembled team. "Alright, who's the best climber? And second best as well, I guess. Don't want anyone going up there alo-" Jasper began to say, unaware of a razor sharp lance like stinger shooting out of the great oak's leaves above him. Before anyone could do just about anything, the stinger dug into the wood of the log just inches away from Jasper. With a sound similar to a guitar strung, the tendril attached to the stinger tightened before retracting, carrying the log with it. With a yelp, Jasper tumbled off the log face first as the log shot into the air, carried away by the stinger.

Scrambling to get up, more stingers shot out from the foliage above them. Grasping the cylinder attached to his belt, Jasper unfolded his sword and switched it to rifle mode. In the time the blade took to transform, numerous stingers from above rammed into the ground before ripping out, sending dirt flying everywhere. Looking up, Jasper fired off three shots at the branches above, not knowing if he hit anything, and began to ran for the cover of the trees. Feeling the air shift suddenly above him, Jasper rolled to the side just as another stinger dug into the ground where he'd been, nearly impaling him. In a show of frustration, Jasper swung his sword as he ran, cleaving through the tendril attached to the stinger and leaving it embedded in the ground.

"Tactical retreat! Get to cover under the trees!" Jasper said, diving into the treeline himself before turning around to provide cover. He'd given up try to hit the grimm in the trees, instead opting to fire shots off at the incoming stingers in an attempt to destroy them.

"What Grimm are we even fi-" Jasper said, being cut off by a dry thud that echoed around the clearing. There, out in the open, was a Lancer Grimm that had fallen out of the great tree, dead. How'd that happen? On closer inspection, just before the body began to dissipate, Jasper saw that there were three holes in the thing's head.

Wait.

He'd fired three shots before booking it.

Did he accidentally score a headshot on a flying enemy like a mile above him?

He meant to do that, and no one could say otherwise,

"Alright, we're fighting Lancers. Could anyone tell where the most stingers were shot from? It's best if, uh" Jasper said, cringing as he said the name, "Salt, fired off some shells there. It would probably be their nest" Jasper said.

Breathing a sigh of relief that Salt was not going to incinerate the surrounding square mile Sirius followed the rest of the team using the trail the crazed cannoneer had carved through the brush to keep pace with the others despite being out of his element.

Reaching the base of the giant tree having only stumbled into a few thickets he stared up at the massive tree for a moment then glanced at the others reactions. "So they don't usually grow that big around here?" He asked innocently. "I don't have any experience climbing trees just rocks, not sure how usefu-GYAH!" Seeing the stinger stab into the log he jumped backward throwing up a shield on reflex that blocked a couple aimed at him, looking up towards the branches he began using his fields to shove the stingers coming at him and occasionally the others off target.

Following Jasper's lead to reach relative safety Sirius shifted his focus to protecting his other two teammates that were still in the open while trying to think of a decent way to hit back at the lancers, simply launching his knives up into the canopy without a clear target would be a good way to disarm himself.

Hearing Jasper's suggestion he agreed inwardly that it would be a good way to flush the grimm out of cover, Salt just needed to know where to shoot. "Oh I've got an idea!" Inching a little way out of cover he instinctively deflected the first few stingers that came his way before he managed to tighten his focus enough to dodge one and hold it down with a field then stab Ten into the ground next to it creating a rock that pinned it in place. "Uhh Salt! Follow the tendril and shoot the other end!" He pointed to the tether as it strained from its owner's efforts to pull it free.

Celeste made it to the large and daunting tree and just grinned up at it. She wasn't afraid of some no good plant that had probably been growing for centuries and was definitely older than her! She would surmount this giant tree and claim her rightful place at the top of it's canopy! Eyeing multiple nooks and holds within the barky surface of the tree trunk, Celeste took a couple step backs, and with a running start, hopped into the first hold. "Alright! Let's go guys!" she said, calling down to her teammates below. Looking back up, she didn't react as a stinger flew by her face.

Grinning savagely, Celeste laughed. "This is more like it!" she yelled out, popping the empty Hard Light dust cartridge from Little Light. Deftly reloading the dust of the gauntlet, Celeste projected the bident, and stabbed it into the tree above her. Hoisting herself up, she then projected the mini gun and spotted multiple Lancers above her. Her eyes darted back and forth between all the weak spots she saw. Pulling the trigger, Celeste fired into the tree top, each bullet carving a vicious path, none erring from the intended weak spot. Pulling the trigger again, Celeste booed as the gun clicked. "Whelp, only one thing to do then!"

Shattering the mini gun, Celeste projected her sword and made it to a nearby branch. Standing, she slowly waited as any Lancers got too close. When they did, she would dodge and weave until she cut them down. Narrowing her eyes further up, she smiled. "Okay! Hey you guys!" she called down to the group. "I'm going on ahead! Catch up when you can!" Once more she bounded up the tree, deftly and swiftly without error. This tree was leagues easier to climb then the mountains or snow-covered trees back home in Atlas. The only issue was Grimm projection, simulation, things trying to kill her! No big deal!

His brain re-entered the scene with lancer... lances? being shot at them. What did Gran say about lancers? Oh yes. But he shouldn't say such things around a lady.

That would be rude.

The incoming stinger that did come his way he decided to deal with boldly. With a swift sweep of his cannon he all but parried the stinger with a 16 pounder cannon. If testaments to his strength were not enough thus far, his waving the cannon around like one would a normal rifle was a sight to see.

"HEY! HEY! I WANA GO UP TO- Doggy?" he was calling after Celeste.. before he got distracted by a call for supporting fire. Now, supporting fire is to say if one is to support another person. His supporting is more like actively holding the guy with the limelight hostage until it focused on you.

Wait didn't somebody else say fire to?

Man what was with people being so bossy today!!!

HE decided when he should fire, nobody else! he didn't need to be told where to fire! or when! He wanted to go boom when he wanted like a good hunter. He was a man damn it! And men followed their hearts! What did his heart want? Well...

...Actually... Blowing up that thing sounds pretty fun.

Doggy's idea.

Drawing a long good arc to his target, he lined up his cannon and, after briefly forgetting that he lodged a shit ton of fire dust in there... He pulled the trigger. The shockwave of the gun ruptured out from the barely nudged young man, a blast of sound that made one's heart skip a beat. the shot was a brazenly large load of flames, which blasted into the locale of the target and, with a brilliant display erupted into a volcanic display of power.

The sound could likely be heard for miles around, and in truth the smoke could be seen farther. "WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" shouted the tiny lad, covered head to toe in soot, cannon currently blazing red hot. "WOW!!! What a boom! Man! Kinda wish i brought MORE fire dust!"

MARIGOLD CROWN | TEAM FLOC

Not even seconds after muttering her question, an unfamiliar voice and silhouette appeared out of seemingly nowhere. The sudden sound startled the blonde, a swift reflex causing her to tighten her grip around the hilt of the sword only to loosen it soon after.

Marigold watched as the taller female joined the fray, her blue eyes scanning the particularly mature-looking individual as she spoke. From her appearance and posture to her way of speaking, teammate number four managed to radiate a certain class, something that couldn't exactly be said about the ball of energy and the masked brooder. Her way of speaking even reminded her of some of her family members, and Mari wasn't exactly sure what to think of that.

The young Crown was ready to jump into motion the moment the female, who introduced herself as Lumiere, spoke of going after the objective. When she asked for their names, Marigold was ready to just give a quick answer and start moving, for she was still very much so intending to gun for the first place. Sadly, things seemed to go south from there.

The shortest among the four, who had already made a bit of a questionable impression, had taken it upon herself to be the first to introduce herself, going far beyond the regular norm of a mere introduction. It became a true test of patience, and Mari didn't exactly do well on that.

As Olivia's rambling took off, Marigold started impatiently tapping her feet on the soil, the pace of the movement gradually growing faster and faster while Olivia kept speaking. Marigold tried to get her words in every time she thought Olivia was going to stop talking, but she never got further than 'I-' during this odd display. Truth be told, all this talk about aura felt like a real fever dream at this point, and the delay that it all caused was making the blonde just a tad annoyed. Because Olivia seemed like a very nice girl, Marigold did her best to hide it, but it probably wasn't hard to notice at least the impatience she was battling with right now.

When Olivia's speech finally seemed to come to an end, Marigold, quickly stepped forward and grabbed the moment.

"RigHT", her voice came out surprisingly loud, startling even herself for a split second. After clearing her throat as she recomposed herself, Marigold quickly continued. "My name is Marigold Crown, It's a pleasure to meet you all, but I do think we should save our chatter for when we're done with the assignment". Marigold hastily looked down at the radar, facing herself into the direction they were supposed to head to.

"Let's get going, shall we? I'm sure there will be enough.. intermingling of our auras on our way there." Marigold added, squirming briefly during her attempt to connect with the words of Olivia. Nevertheless, Marigold went back to focusing fully on the competition assignment, taking the initiative by starting to jog into the direction the radar was sending them into, gradually picking up the pace while keeping her eyes out for any Grimm.

A sigh of relief escaped Amber's lips as his new teammate didn't immediately set about trying to irk him. Although the way he carried himself didn't necessarily inspire confidence, slouched over as he was. Still it seemed he had survived thus far even as their other teammate had fallen, that counted for something in his book. It would be very interesting seeing how their team dynamics worked. At the very least they had a common goal for the moment to keep them focused and not at each others necks. Now that they were a man down, they had to rely on one other more than ever.

Vanta seemed to be of a similar mind as he shared his expertise. The fact he described his own semblance as useless inspired even less confidence, but then again the fact he made it into the Academy with such a weakness could be seen as a great strength in and of itself. Lust however didn't seem at all concerned about planning ahead as she seem firmly convinced she could handle anything that was thrown at them. Naturally he was an afterthought, but she wasn't entirely wrong. Considering they were walking into an ambush, having someone to lure it out would be useful, something Amber could do with ease.

"Lust might actually be on to something here." Even saying it pained him as it played into her already considerable ego, but credit where it is due. Besides, she had shown herself to have some skill already. Maybe it was deserved? "My semblance allows me to take considerable punishment, so I can wander on in ahead of you two and see if I can't lure out whatever it is we need to crush." As he spoke his semblance became apparent, his skin becoming a metallic bronze like color before fading back to his usual pale complexion to prove his point. He'd gone toe to toe with some heavy hitters in the past, and certainly knew how to take a beating like no one else. And his arms could dish out just as much as he took anyways. No matter what it was they faced, he'd lock it down.

"I'm sure I can last long enough for you to blow it up, slice it up or whatever else it is you two do." This wasn't necessarily the most masterful of plans, but with nothing else to go by and their time dwindling, it would have to do. "So, should one of us give some inspirational speech about how we can do this if we work together? Or can we just get this over with?"

Vanta's veins looked like they were going to burst with each and every word Lust said. Thankully, Amber seemed... more level headed, even if he was agreeing on general strategy. Watching his skin shift colors, Vanta nodded.

"With a semblance like that... I can take a bit more of a gamble around you."
He said simply. Then shrugged. "And hell, if I blow up Ms. Erhöht due to her inability to plan, who the @#$@ cares."

A dozen scenarios ran through Vanta's head, the boy seeming to just shut down as he sat on a stump holding up one hand for people to shut up, one to his forehead. Striker, DPS, Tank. No support. But very doable with a blitz strategy. Force the enemy into the tank, then rain down hell, and give striker chance to work. It would only work against extremely powerful foes for the briefest of moments, but would work. So long as people, Vanta included, didn't mind a few bumps and bruises.

No had told them there'd be enemies at the flag. But no one had to tell Vanta. This was a scenario, and painfully forward. He gulped slightly thinking about how in real life, Grimm weren't predicable.

Amber asked if he had any inspirational words.

"Don't think I need to. We gotta do it, right? How 'bout we let your skills do the talking. "

Vanta pulled out his grenade belt, and began to fiddle with them.

"Amber, take guard. Erhöht, do whatever the @#$@ you want, you seem to thrive on chaos. I'm a bit slow to act, but I know how to make one hell of an entrance, so hope your semblance is up to stuff Amber."

With that, they would head off into the swamp, right towards where the flag stood up in the middle of the woodland. Vanta grasped a grenade in one hand, and his taser in the other, energy crackling around him. A smile came to his lips, first positive emotion he's shown, and he began to plant a box on the ground near a tree. "You guys remember where this baby is. Otherwise, it could be bad. Betty's a bit... temperamental. But she is bouncy!"

1586058198067.pngAs the bright midday sky suddenly grew brighter with the Orange flash of the explosion, a smile crept onto Jasper's face. The embers of falling leaves slowly being devoured by flames and the debris of fire soaked tree limbs and charred bits of wood fell to the Earth in front of the clearing, setting the grass alight momentarily before being snuffed out. He could just make out black mist seeping out of the burning foliage above, making him share the enthusiasm of the midget. "You got them spot on! Holy crap, good job man!" Jasper cheered jovially. "Alright, we're gonna have to keep bombing that thing. We just need the flag and no other part of the tree. Knowing the way of huntsman, the flag's probably, for some reason, stronger than reinforced concrete. It should survive the blast, so we just kick ba-Where's the other one?" Jasper stopped mid sentence, looking over his 3 man crew in confusion.

"The, uh, the girl? Um, where'd she go?" Jasper said, even more confused and just slightly panicked. "what was her na-Celeste! Where'd you go! We kinda need-oh" Jasper said, stopping as he squinted towards the base of the tree. There, a white spot far away was clung to the bark, moving. "Oh no.." Jasper said in dawning horror.

"We just bombed the gigantic tree our teammate is climbing with Incendiary ammunition. Huh" Jasper said blankly, prepping his sword. "Alright, hold back on the artillery, we're going up. Crap. Hey, uh, Salt, you don't happen to have any other weapon, do you? Or if you could dial back the payload? And Sirius, what do you even have?" Jasper asked, squinting intently at the giant spire of wood. It looked like the Lancer's weren't all dead. Numerous Grimm were buzzing out of the tree, somehow looking downright murderous at a good mile away.

"Alright, here's the game plan. We need to get our teammate and get the flag while we're at it, I guess. We need to go the same route as Celeste, but we need to spread out to give room to dodge stingers. Be close enough to help eachother though. It'd be cool if Sirius could keep us all in good health with his shields by blocking debris and stingers, Salt can be our heavy hitter for groups of Lancers with the cannon, and I'll distract the Lancers to give you guys some easy kills" Jasper instructed, switching his sword to rifle mode as he got ready to move out. "Sound good? Speak up now cause' we are not hauling nearly as much ass as I would like" Jasper said, eyes darting to the tree. "Cool? Cool. Onwards!" Jasper said before he momentarily blipped out of existence in front of the two guys and appeared at the base of the Great Oak.

Kicking up against the bark, Jasper vaulted up to the first branch and pulled himself up before shooting towards the next branch a few feet above him. The sound of groaning ancient wood marked his ascent upwards. With every jump he bent a branch and sent leaves fluttering towards the floor. Wait, floor. With that thought causing him to look down, Jasper nearly had a heart attack. He was only as high as an apartment building, which was relatively small by huntsman standards, but he felt way higher. In the time Jasper was stunned by his fear of heights, a stinger imbedded itself right next to his head. With a yelp, Jasper snapped back into reality. As the Stinger began to yank back, Jasper grabbed onto it and kicked off of his current branch. With a screech, the Lancer retracted it's stinger in a panic, allowing Jasper to use it as an impromptu swing upwards. At the crescendo of the swing, Jasper let go, landing on another, smaller branch. As the Lancer fully retracted it's stinger, Jasper swivelled and sent a burst directly into it's left wing. With a cry, the creature tilted to the side and slammed into the trunk of the tree before trying to kick off and gain flight, succeeding for just a second before a flaming branch fell atop them, driving them down to the Earth below.

Okay, fears aside, he had to admit that was pretty awesome.

Things were spiraling out of control. With the Grimm dispatched Caeso now found himself facing his greatest foe yet, the inane nonsense spewing from Olivia’s mouth at a rate on par with profesional rappers. He couldn’t even rebuke Marigold’s complaint about him “brooding” over the talk of auras and shining, much to his chagrin. Somebody had to knock that girl down a peg. Then suddenly a beacon of hope appeared in the form of their final team mate, a tall ginger haired girl who actually seemed fairly normal, if a bit on the blunt side. When she mentioned wrapping all this up and going straight for the objective Caeso's hopes soared, only to be dashed by the mistake she made moments later. Asking their names seemed innocent enough but as Olivia soon proved even a simple task like that was going to be problematic. As he watched her burst into another spiel he had to ask himself where she found the energy because if nothing else that alone was impressive.


It was actually Marigold who was first to jump in after Oliva, impatience lacing her words. Looks like Miss perfect here was no saint either, despite what the holy knight get up implied. But Caeso actually found himself agreeing with what she had to say, the sooner they could get moving the better. No point standing around here shaking hands whilst other teams (No doubt more competent teams) beelined towards their objectives. First place or bust for this hunter in training, after all second place is just the first place of losers.


“That might have been the first sensible thing I’ve heard you say all day.” Caeso smirked at Marigold, shaking his head slightly to dispel the lingering haze that had settled over his mind during Olivia’s speech. Although he was eager to get going he felt he did owe the redhead at least a quick introduction though, she’d been kind enough to stay out of the fighting after all. “Caeso Farran. My uh… pleasure, to meet the lot of ya.”


A tad blunt for sure but Caeso had accepted long ago that he was never going to be some casanova of conversation. Hopefully his newfound teammates would judge him more on his combat prowess than his prose. Speaking of which, Marigold has already set off at a jog and was leaving the others behind which was of course unacceptable Caeso’s eyes. With a quick shake of cloak to try flick off a bit of the water that still clung to it he broke into a run, following the blonde head bobbing away before him toward their objective.
