CHAPTER 1: Welcome to Vytal!

LOCATION: CENTRAL HALL, VYTAL ACADEMY.
TIME: 8.30 AM
WEATHER: Sunny.

Every year, the prestigious Vytal Academy would open its doors to a composed group of talented students coming from all over Remnant. From the isolated tribes of Vacuo and Atlas’s northern settlements to the bustling cities of Mistral and Vale, no place went unsearched. Much like prior years, thousands of applications had arrived at Vytal’s doorstep, each going through the same strict evaluation that would weed out the truly potent from the crowd. Today would be the day that 100 students would finally get to join the Academy, and that called for a celebration. What better way to celebrate than to get right to the action. That is, after a friendly welcome.

After having carefully adjusted his dark blue tie, Blaine Brighton, Deputy Headmaster of Vytal Academy, made his way towards the microphone stand, calmly clearing his throat before adjusting the stand to his height. Truth be told, he wasn’t the one supposed to be standing there today, but he was more than happy to take over for the headmistress. She had good reason not to be there, after all.

The central hall, a large circular room with pristine white pillars and walls, was a place that acted mostly as a lobby to get to other parts of the seemingly never-ending academy. Looking up, one would see the elegant, golden chandeliers dangling down from the high ceiling, all the while catching glimpses of some staff members and assisting students peeking down from the balconies of the upper floors situated around the edges of the central hall. Several navy blue decorations and an abundance of flowers clothed the room, with large ‘WELCOME’ banners hanging from the upper balconies.

At the opposite side of the entrance doors stood the Deputy Headmaster, elevated slightly thanks to a mezzanine-like construction. Behind him stood some of the most prominent faces of Vytal, watching over their new batch of students in varying expressions. Some faces, such as the ones belonging to Lucia Iclyn and Midas Stahl, were visibly stern and calm, whereas others, like those of Rayden Solaire and Forrest Mint, were no more than eager smiles. Blaine had joined the smiling faculty club the moment he walked towards the stand, his golden-brown eyes peering into the crowd of new students as they collectively stood facing towards him. They had all arrived the day before and enjoyed the luxury of a temporary room for themselves and plenty of food in the cafeteria to keep them alive.

“Welcome, everyone.” He started, his voice echoing through the room loudly thanks to the aid of the microphone. A few seconds of silence passed as he waited for the room to go silent.

“It’s great to see you all as excited and glad to be here. I can assure you all that we are just as happy to see you.” Blaine remarked, his voice steady and as charismatic as ever. His reputation may be questionable, but no one could disagree that this man’s voice was a pure delight to listen to.

“My name is Blaine Brighton, and I’m Vytal’s current Deputy Headmaster. On behalf of the faculty, I would like to sincerely congratulate you all for passing the evaluation process. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.”

Blaine’s smile grew earnestly as one of the teachers behind him cracked up an applause, quickly extending to the other teachers and even the students themselves. Releasing a chuckle into the microphone, Blaine waited for the applause to die down before he continued.

“Now, as much as I know you would all just love to hear me lecture you about this wonderful building and its equally wonderful staff members, I’m going to have to disappoint you.” Blaine’s tone somewhat dramatically emphasized parts of the first sentence, giving away his sarcastic intentions. He definitely didn’t expect these students to have a burning passion for architecture and the detailed biographies of their teachers.

“You see, this is Vytal Academy after all, and we think it's best for you to get a taste of what we have to offer as soon as possible. So, on that note,”

Blaine reached for his pocket while he took the microphone off the stand before turning around to face the wall behind him. With a press on the small remote he pulled out of his pocket, a large hard light screen appeared against the wall.

“When I'm done talking, you will finally get the chance to meet your assigned team in an easy little introduction assignment we’ve set up.”

The blue hard-light screen turned to an image of one of Vytal’s connected islands. The island eyed completely blank, only appearing as a simply grassy plain.

“Meet Amity Island, our very own take on the well-known Amity Colosseum. Right now, this island may not seem like much, but looks can be deceiving. Allow me to demonstrate.”

Blaine pressed his remote again and, after a slight delay, the island ruptured up into mountainous region, with a cliff erupting in the middle of of the island. With another press of the button, the mountains fell down, substituted by the appearance of sand, palm trees and, most notably, a sudden overabundance of sunlight. As a final demonstration, Blaine pressed the button once again and caused a shift of the island, with one side shifting into a frigid tundra with a raging snowstorm, while the other side broke into a volcanic wasteland filled with a dark, black mist.

Blaine turned back from looking at the screen, his face projecting confidence and pride in his successful attempt to captivate the students. “As you see, this island definitely has some challenges to offer. For today, however, we’ll keep it to something more mundane.”

Finishing his sentence, Blaine set the island into transformation once again, now turning the island into a seemingly peaceful oak forest. Save for a few little ponds, fallen logs and a few semi-steep hills, this didn’t eye as much of a threat.

After a few seconds of the screen showing the island, the screen shifted back to its original blank blue sheet, only now with the sentence “OBJECTIVES” at the top.

“After these instructions, you will be escorted to the island in groups of 20, where you will be randomly located around the island. Your first task is simple;”

As he finished his sentence, the words “1: FIND YOUR TEAM” appeared on the screen.

“Find your team. You will all be given a small tracking device that will show you the distance between you and your three individual teammates, as well as your team name. All you have to do is meet up, which will cause the tracker to light up green and allow you to move on to the second point. Oh, also keep in mind that you will be with this team for the entirety of your stay here at Vytal, so it’s best to make a good impression.”

Clearing his throat again, Blaine moved on.

“Step 2,” the words “COLLECT YOUR FLAG” appeared on screen, right below the first task. “as a team, you must find and collect a flag with your team’s name on it. The tracker will also show you the distance, much like it did in the task prior, so all you will have to do is figure out which way to go.”

With another click on Blaine’s remote, the words “DELIVER YOUR FLAG” appeared.

“Last, but not least, get your flag safely to the rendezvous location. Once again, your tracker will show you the way. This doesn’t sound too hard, right?”

Blaine looked around for a few seconds before he brought the microphone back towards his mouth, his smile now much more mischievously than before.

“I did forget to mention that there will be a few surprises here and there. Oh, and we will also be timing your performance, so it’s best to keep up a good pace!”

Blaine tilted the microphone away to give a quick chuckle, looking over his shoulder to see the Head Professor of Geography give him a swift thumbs up in approval while handing him a list of students. His periphery vision also managed to catch a glimpse of Lucia’s completely unamused face, but he was just going to ignore that for now.

“Good luck to you all. Please make your way to the entrance if I call out your name.”

And with that, the first 20 students were called for the assignment, each one of them going to the entrance door before swiftly being escorted to the island by bus, crossing over one of Vytal's bridges. Amongst that first batch were three particularly interesting teams: Team LAVA, SSLM, and FLOC.

Upon arriving at the island, the students would be greeted by a group of faculty members that would hand them a tracker, shaped almost like a watch. After that, they would be instructed to, one by one, walk through a semblance-created portal that would send them to a random location on the island. Students would be instructed to wait with moving until a short countdown along the lines of: “3… 2… 1.. GO” would blare across the island. And with that, the task started.

TASK INFORMATION
The island’s layout is relatively simple, with most of the island being a slightly hilly oak forest-environment. Thanks to the sunny climate, the sun shines through the bed of leaves created by the trees of greatly varying sizes, allowing for plenty of light to see one’s surroundings. There are some fallen trees, small creeks and ponds, and flower beds that can be found around the island. When silent, one can hear the peaceful chirping of birds and the croaking of frogs, and some might be lucky to see insects fly by.

One very obvious factor in regards to the island is the present Grimm. Although there will only be very few at the start of the assignment, the amount will gradually increase over time until it's almost impossible to look around without seeing one. Additionally, stronger Grimm will appear after every successful completion of Task 1 and 2.

It doesn’t take 20/20 vision to see that these ‘Grimm’ aren’t exactly the real deal. Although they look very identical, their colours are less saturated and they appear much more glass-like. Successfully taking down a Grimm will also cause them to shatter in pieces, rather than have the usual Grimm effect. This is quite clearly a simulation.

At the start of the assignment, you will be able to encounter the following Grimm: Beowulves, Ursas, Boarbatusks and, albeit somewhat uncommon, smaller Nevermore. You can find all of these on the RWBY wiki.

NOTE: Please don't think I expect you to have your character respond to the entire dialogue. You can start your post anywhere you want, whether that is at their arrival yesterday, their name being called to the entrance, or right when they arrive at Amity island for the assignment.

(to give some more clarity: the intro post should at the least include your character arriving at their place on Amity island (aka going through the portal and getting to their starting location of the assignment, which you yourself can choose (put them in a tree for all I care). It should also include them starting to make their way towards their team-members. It is very possible they already encounter Grimm in this process, although they don't have to. You can go as far as to already meet up with one teammate (this may require some OOC coordination), although that isn't mandatory.)

JASPER MCQUELLIN
Team SSLM

"Jasper McQuellin, you're up" A faculty member said, reading his name off a tablet. Just a few meters behind them was a floating vortex of blue, emitting a strange, near unexplainable sound. The best way to describe it would've been what you pictured the sound of Pixie Dust being like. So, in other words, if magical were a noise.

Eyeing the portal cautiously, Jasper gripped the hilt of Fidelium and took a tentative step forwards. "Uh, yeah, so, what the hell is that? It's kinda freaking me out" Jasper admitted, giving the portal a side glance.

"It's a portal. It teleports you to the island. Hold on" The man said, putting a hand on Jasper's chest to stop him, even though Jasper had already stopped. He had no intention of going near that thing. Turning to the side, the man grabbed a watch-like device from another staff member behind them before tossing it to Jasper's outstretched hand. "That device tells you the name and general location of your teammates. Use it to find them" The man said before giving Jasper a pat on the back, sending him off.

Strapping the device onto his Right forearm, Jasper flicked it on as he walked towards the portal. Eyes roving the device's screen, Jasper read his teammates' names. He went like this, distracted by the device as he approached the portal.

Then he stopped.

He squinted his eyes at the words on the screen, but he just couldn't make sense of it.

"Hold up" Jasper said, miming a time out motion. Turning to the former faculty member, who was currently equipping another student, Jasper held up his watch. The genuine confusion he felt was evident by both his face and voice.

"Yes?" The man asked, raising an eyebrow as they turned to Jasper once more.

"Yeah, so, I think this thing's broken or something" Jasper said, squinting at the device.

"How so?"

"Cause it just says Salt" Jasper said, holding the screen up to the man to display the words. The student beside the staff member squinted at the words as well, and by the look of it, they were as flabbergasted as Jasper.

"Uhuh" The staff member said before turning back to the orther student.

"What do you mean "Uhuh"? My teammate's name is Salt for god's sake! What cruel bastard would name their kid Salt?" Jasper said exasperatedly as they pointed to the screen before just shoving it towards the man.

"Language" The man said, turning to Jasper. "Just go through the portal kid, you're holding up the line" The man said before placing a hand on Jasper's chest again.

"What? We're just not going to adress this then? Yeah, okay, there's someone in existence named fuggin' Salt! Sure, that's n-" Jasper said, being cut off as he was shoved through the portal by the much old, much stronger staff member. The line resumed as normal

---
"-ormal!" Jasper yelped as he flew through the time space continuum before it through him out and onto his ass into the middle of a grassy clearing. Hitting the ground with a soft thud, Jasper unsheathed Fidelium. Scrambling to get up, he faced the great oaks and dense green foliage surrounding him. The only sound he could hear now was the soft blowing of wind and the rustling of leaves.

Sighing, Jasper sheathed Fidelium and looked back to the device on his wrist. Turning around in a 360 degrees arc, Jasper heard the pings indicating his teammates' directions. Heading off in the direction of the nearest friendly, Jasper muttered "There's no way they're named fuggin' Salt".

Sirius Blagden

Waiting his turn to enter the portal Sirius shook a little telling himself that it was just from the relative chill of the sea air compared to the desert heat instead of him being near sick with nervousness. Rather stand there fidgeting he checked the bandoleer across his chest still had all four knives in it and that he still had his Ace in it's own sheath, then he did it again, then yet again, by the time his name was called he had taken inventory over a dozen times and only heard the call when it was repeated. "Sorry! I'm sorry! I'm here, ready to go." Rushing over the words tumbled out as he gave the portal a doubtful look then decided now if ever was a time to be assertive and dashed in heedless of what the nearby staff member was trying to say.

Popping out the other side he skidded to a halt at the edge of a narrow stream. Before he could be thankful that he hadn't gotten his feet wet he heard a small splash and saw his tracker undoubtedly hastily tossed through the portal after him begin to drift away on the current. With a yelp of dismay Sirius went to grab it then reached out mentally surrounding it in his silvery Aura, in trying to pull it to him his awkward 'grip' made it jump sharply upward nearly hitting him in the face and bringing enough water along to liberally splash his chest.

Groaning at his fumble he checked over the device for damage and was thankful to find it was made to stand up to a fair bit of rough handling, checking the display Sirius strapped it on and turned on the spot a couple of times to find his direction to start walking.

The tweets of birds, the chirps of small animals... the wind blowing the grass and trees.

The image of this particular grove in this particular section of Amity Island was nothing if not picturesque. With the scent of nature radiating from every direction, the flowers tilting in the breeze, and the sounds of numerous creatures going about their day, one could be forgiven for laying down in a patch of grass to luxuriate in the calming setting. But not for the girl in the center of the grove, who had planted herself there the moment she arrived. Seated upon a stump with her legs folded under her, she remained still as a statue as the rest of her fellow students were placed in their positions. She was in no hurry... why would she be?

A bird landed upon the girl's shoulder, with her eyes finally opening and drifting in the creature's direction. Though her mask covered it up, she grinned widely as she watched the bird take a moment to clean its feathers.

"Glimmer glamour, shimmer shammer." her voice came out as little more than a whisper, but still enticed the creature to crane its head towards her "How brightly you shine, flying one."

The two stared each other down for a moment before the bird resumed cleaning its wings. The girl apparently took this to mean she could continue, because her eyes drifted closed once more as she continued, "Not as brightly as I, but the power of life radiates from you too."

Tilting her head up, she swept her gaze across the Grove, "From the ground to the skies, it radiates from all blessed by its presence... Giving all such a beautiful shimmer."

The bird took off into the sky, with Olivia staring up as it disappeared over the line of trees. She stared for a moment before tilting her head, "Or would that be a Glimmer?"

She wasn't given long to ponder when the alert blared out across the island, "3...2...1...GO!"

It was a simple trigger, one which immediately sent Olivia hopping from the stump as she clapped her hands together in enthusiasm. What fun this was about to be! She raised her wrist up to finally check in on who exactly she was tracking down. She wasn't one to spoil a surprise, and had contained her curiosity for just this moment. Raising her arm to her gaze, she bounced on the tips of her toes while committing every name before her to memory. They would be her fellow teammates after all, their auras would be meshing quite often from now on.

Once she was done, she released a sigh as she placed her bandaged up hands over her heart and hummed. What she'd just read was quite surprising to say the least, she would've never expected to be lumped in with names as renown as the ones displayed on the tracker. Each one of them were part of families that held varying amounts of renown. Though Olivia herself knew of the bad press her own family had back home, she was still taken aback momentarily.

But that surprise didn't last long, as it was soon swept away by a surge of giddiness that blossomed throughout her veins. Whatever their backgrounds, it still meant new Auras. That thought alone drove Olivia to skip forward away from the stump and out of the grotto, her hands folding behind her back as she pranced happily through the trees. Her feet carried her over fallen trees and through shrubbery with ease, occasionally balancing atop something to check her wrist.

Her mask may have hid her smile, but the palpable enthusiasm radiating from her gaze was unmistakable. That enthusiasm only grew the closer she drew, she could practically feel the shimmering Aura as it drew closer, begging to be admired and appreciated by a trained eye.

But instead of the glimmering light of life entering her gaze, she found its opposite. She had just scaled a large rock formation which overlooked a creek below. As she jumped from the rock and sailed over the running water , the shrubbery in front of her was displaced by a massive form lunging out from within. Olivia had to orient herself midair to skid along the grasping claws of the Grimm before launching herself off of its head to the other side of the creek. She landed with a deep crouch before turning back to see the Ursa turning around whilst dragging its heavy limbs through the creek.

Her look of surprise immediately melted into one of pity, "Forced to suffer their likeness," she noted, immediately recognizing the peculiar look of the fake Grimm "it is more than enough reason to end you."

The Ursa merely roared, charging across the creek as its claw came swinging at her. Olivia hopped back out of the way of the first swing, shifting her coat out of the way to grab the handles of the short swords that were strapped to her hips. Drawing Lebenskuss, Olivia leaped backwards against a tree as the Ursa continued swinging. Using the tree, she jumped over another strike whilst spinning, raking her blades across the Ursa's arm as she sailed by. The moment she landed, she slammed the handles of both of the swords together, with the blades bending and shifting as they locked to one another.

As the Ursa lunged for her, she swerved out of the way of its claw while spinning the connected blades, lopping off its right paw. As the Ursa stumbled from the sudden loss of its paw, she reached for the very edge of the dual blade and pulled a cord from a small compartment which she quickly connected to the other edge. Once the string was pulled taut, she reached under her coat for the arrows kept on her belt. Dipping the tip of one into a tiny tube of dust, she took aim just as the Ursa turned on her again. Instead of firing the arrow, she rolled out of the way as it jumped for her. Its claws sank into the ground, only for a glowing footprint beside its paw to activate and coat the Beast's arm in flames.

Its jaws snapped open to roar as it swung its burning limb, only for an arrow to sink into its eye a moment later. This seemed to stun the beast, which toppled forward as Olivia pulled Lebenskuss apart and darted forward with the swords, driving them up into the falling creature's throat before it could hit the ground.

Olivia nodded to herself with a smile as she tore Lebenskuss from the false Grimm's neck and let it fall to the ground "A favor, a duty, and a pleasure!"

Hooking the swords to her hips again, Olivia yanked out her arrow just as the Ursa's body disappeared around it. Now that that was over she could finally focus on more on finding those previous Auras nearby. She turned to continue her pleasant frolicking when unmistakable roars of more Grimm caught her attention. What's more, they seemed to be in the way of her and her lovely teammates. Slipping the arrow back into her belt, Olivia merely shrugged before drawing Lebenskuss once more and skipping towards the roars.

Lust Erhöht
|Team LAVA|

Lust stood in front of where the portal was being handed her tracker taking it and attaching it to her wrist. She wasn't sure what to expect with the first day, though whatever it was she held the confidence she was more then ready for it. Her grey-green jacket zipped up managing to look the part of being on a mission though perhaps her sunglasses resdting on he rhead perhaps clashed with that appearance. The earbuds were in her ears though they didn't obstruct her hearing enough to not allow her to at least hear what was being said even with the music lightly playing what sounded to be a sort of hard-rock or metal music playing. Perhaps it wasn't the wisest thing if she wanted to make sure she head everything but she didn't care all that much. She was talented as she was and she was sure things would fall into place for her.

Given the signal she traveled through the portal finding herself landing a foot away from smacking right into a tree. With a timer set before she started she traced her hand along her pocket to her side scrapping just past her unique weapon on her holster to her side. She opened the pocket slipping out a vial of liquefied dust, glancing over at the light mixture being a simple dose of Light Dust. It tended to do the best in terms of keeping her 'sorted' taking a lot more to really start disrupting her.... and the task at hand was far from one she thought she would need elemental dust for. She could always save that for when its needed. She popped open the lid tilting her head back letting the liquid dust slip into her mouth quickly swallowing it whole. A sigh of relief escaped her lips feeling a rather soothing sensation accompanied by a delightful tingle as if her very aura fluctuated in satisfaction.

Lust tucked away the now empty vial as she lifted her other hand up to look at the tracker. Her eyes focused on it reading where the signals were as she looked up. They all had to meet up so for her the most logical solution was to simply head for the middle point between them. Whoever was close to her hopefully would follow her anyways if they were trying to go directly for her. It seemed pointless to just go searching out for one person at least in her mind. They were a team but all that really meant to her was they would work towards the same goal, it didn't mean much more beyond that. Sure there was some cooperation but so long as they could all do their individual tasks it seemed like it would all work out in her mind.

As the countdown ended Lust took off moving quickly glancing at the tracker attempting to find the middle ground of where to meet up adjusting herself. She was on a dust fueled high and was more then ready to get this silly 'test' over and done with. She moved swiftly quick to evade the grimm utilizing her semblance to boost herself around attempting to avoid fighting completely. The trest didn't involve killing any of these fake grimm anywhere in the objective so slipping past them was the most ideal option, something once she got with her team would be a lot more difficult to do. Hopefully her teammates were at least mildly competent so she didn't have to carry them all on her back to get through the academy.

Team SSLM (Salem)
- - - - -

The opening day was rather lackluster in Celeste's opinion. It started off with a boring speech into a boring intro, into a team making task that seemed more tedious than fun. This could also be due to the sheer paranoia flowing through her system. Her eyes scanned back and forth through the crowd, watching for anything that seemed off. Her semblance kicked in, and people's weaknesses already showed themselves. Some were simple and easy to hit, others more complicated. Again, Celeste's paranoia was hitting its course full force. She didn't know if she could trust anyone. Yeah, that wasn't the greatest of mindsets to have going into this.

Celeste yawned as she heralded herself to the portal in which she was supposed to go through.
Little Light was fit snugly around her hand, it being a glove and all. Her eyes threatened to shut close as drowsiness overwhelmed her, but she remained strong as the pain forced her to keep them open. Yawning again, Celeste stood in front of the portal. On her other wrist laid the tracking device. Rotating it around her wrist a few times, she read the names off it. Jasper, Sirius, and... Salt? She let out a small giggle. Whoever this Salt person was, she'd bet they were a riot. Strapping the tracker more securely, Celeste jumped through the portal with a "WOOOOOOOOO!"

Hitting the ground and rolling, Celeste looked upon the multitude of Beowulves in front of her. Smiling, Little Light flashed as a minigun nearly her own size appeared in her hands. "Let's light em up!" Pulling the trigger, the barrels revved before spewing forth a storm of bullets, shattering the Grimm illusions? specters? mirages? She really didn't care as they got shredded. Half way through the slaughter, the minigun jammed, and Celeste shattered it into hard light shards. Now forming a warhammer, she gripped the blunt smasher of doom, and charged. Her eyes found weak spots, and she hammered them until her hammer broke. She then switched to both the bident and sword, slashing and stabbing.

Landing a little ways away after killing the last Grimm, she dispersed the weapons.
"4 charges left. Got to be conservative... nah!" Laughing, she took off in the direction of her nearest teammate. Hopefully they were nice, and not taller than her, and not mean, and not...

She was rambling at this point.

Amber Ramiel

A hollow feeling slowly grew in Amber's chest as he awaited for the Deputy Headmaster to address the initiates. Staying near the back, he had taken out a few tools to do some basic maintenance. While not necessary, it had become a form of meditation for the aspirant Huntsman. A point on which he could focus, to drown out the noise both around and within him. At moments like this he needed it. Amber knew that he had gotten accepted by the skin of his teeth, his greatest strength nearly costing him his dream. Now he was surrounded by the best and brightest of Remnant, a speck of sand in a desert of potential. To make a mark worthy of notice would be his greatest challenge yet.

Soon enough the suave voice of Deputy Headmaster Brighton reached him. Of course he had heard the rumors about Blaine, that his appointment was one of necessity rather than merit. To think that someone so unqualified attained such a prestigious position sat ill with him. Eyes narrowing, Amber took a moment to size up his supposed superior. While he was no true expert in all forms of combat, it didn't seem that he carried himself in a way that suggested competence in the art. A well maintained facade perhaps? It's a preferable alternative to being led by a affluent weakling.

Putting his judgments aside, Amber listened keenly to the tasks that were set before him. At the very least there wouldn't be any time wasted on frivolous ceremonies. They were to be sent straight into the crucible. That was something he could respect. All in all it seemed straightforward enough. Find his team, get the flag and get out. I don't imagine it'll stay that simple for long. Heh, maybe they'll toss me into that volcanic region for a few laughs.

"Amber Remiel, you're up next for the meat grinder." One of the faculty members called out in a disinterested manner, ushering him along to the strange portal.

"It's Ramiel man." Amber did his best not to roll his eyes, for a family as renowned as his own people sure did mispronounce it often.

"I'll let you know when I find someone who cares kid." Without even looking up at him, he shoved the tracker in his hand.

"Damn man, you're cutting me deep here. And here I was thinking we had something special, and you just hurt me like that."

"Well if that hurt, you're really not going to like this next part."

Before Amber even had time to raise his eyebrow he felt hands on his shoulders, and with an unexpected shove he was on his way to Amity.

"Oh you son of a bi-" THUMP!

Stumbling backwards onto his rear, Amber sat in the grove he suddenly found himself isolated in, unceremoniously cradling his head between his hands. He wasn't sure if him being put right in front of a tree was a fluke or intentional, but it hurt like a bitch. As he regained his bearings, his augmented eyes took in his surroundings fully. To say it was serene would be an understatement. A picture perfect view of a lively forest and gently meandering streams, with nothing but the company of some chirping birds and gentle gusts of wind. "Hmm, a better welcoming than in Vytal to be sure. Not sure if I want to crack that guys skull open or shake his hand for his sheer gall. Perhaps both?"

As he pondered these options Amber sat against the tree that had so warmly welcomed him to the island, dusting off his white, sleeveless hoodie. Getting comfy, he attached the tracker to his arm and took a moment to get an idea of who his team would be. Scrolling through the members of the apparent team LAVA, the first name he came across was Vanta Black. Not someone he had heard of before. The next one was someone he knew quite well, or at least her family. The Knochenthals. A rising star in Atlas' weapons manufacturing industry, such a potential rival quickly caught the attentions of the Ramiels. While they produced nothing near the quality of Ramiel products, their output was admittedly impressive. If he didn't feel the need to impress already, he certainly did now. And then last but not least was...
........
"Lust?" He stared hard at the name for a few moments before coming to terms with it, unsure how he felt at this exact moment. "Who in Grimm's name names their kid Lust?" So distracted was he by this revelation, that he hadn't even realized the countdown had begun, only being jostled from his stupor at the word GO!

Springing to life, Amber charged headlong towards the nearest marker. Time wasn't on his side, and speed was unfortunately a strength he lacked. Which meant that not a second could be spared. Coming upon a small cliff, Amber didn't hesitate as he hurtled himself off of it. Soaring through the air, Amber took note of two Boarbatusks below him. "Time to bring down the hammer." Fulmen and Tonitrua came down upon the first of the beasts like a clap of thunder, a resounding crack echoing through the small valley he found himself in as its skull split open, quickly shattering. Simulations, a bit disappointing if I'm being honest, but it'll have to do.

Spinning towards the other Grimm, he found the beast already upon him, bringing up his arms just in time to blunt the blow, driving his feet back through the dirt. "Oh come on, I thought you beasts were supposed to hit hard! Prove it!" The Boarbatusk roared back at this challenge, once again thundering towards Amber. Standing stark still, Amber only twisted out of the way at the last moment, grabbing one of the beast tusks before snapping it off, drawing out a howl of pain and rage. This was silenced in short order, as the tusk was firmly implanted in the creatures neck.

"Tch, weak." Was all he afforded his fallen foes before moving onward to greater battles. Greater feats of glory.

JASPER MCQUELLIN
Team SSLM
"How much would this thing even cost?" Jasper mumbled to himself, kicking a rock as he soldiered on through the lush Oak forest. "It's gotta be at least in the billions" Jasper though aloud, wettening his brown, sand stained boots in a gentle flowing stream as he stepped through it. "That's not even thinking about the Dust involved, both for the power to operate the thing daily and to create the environments" Jasper said to himself, quickly unsheathing Fidelium to slice down a bush in his way. "And all for what, probably one day of use per year? Pfft" Jasper said, crinkling grass as he walked.

"What a waste of several billion Lien" Jasper declared, sliding down a steep, grassy hill. Looking to the skyline, Jasper both heard the sound of high calibre rounds being fired and saw the flashes they emitted through the treeline. "Nice to see I'm not alone" Jasper said, batting low hanging foliage aside obscuring his view.

He also, coincidentally, smacked the Ursa in front of him across the side of it's face as he batted the leaves away.

Jasper did not scream. He absolutely did not. When asked what that masculine yell was that every other initiate assuredly heard, he'd respond that it was him reacting in surprise to an unexpected encounter. And that it was the Ursa that screamed. Yes, the Ursa was scared of him. Not the other way around. That was a much better story, actually. Forget the other excuse, he's telling everyone it was the Ursa that screamed it's head off like a little girl.

"HOLY FUCK!" Jasper did not scream, but masculinely yelled, as he launched himself backwards. His back connecting with a thick Oak tree, Jasper had just enough time to unsheathe Fidelium before the Ursa roared right into his face, actually making Jasper momentarily shut his eyes because of the force the sound waves emitting from the Ursa's mouth carried. His hair rustled due to the roar, and Jasper had just enough time to capture his wits before leaping to the side as the Ursa through a giant paw at where he used to be, turning half the Oak tree's trunk into splinters.

"HOLY MOTHERFUCKING FUCK!" Jasper yelled, showing his potty mouth as he backed up. The Ursa, realizing it missed, roared again and launched itself towards Jasper, tearing up the Earth as it went. Thankfully, the big, cumbersome beast wasn't nearly as fast or agile as Jasper. Doing a role to side, Jasper nicked the Ursa along the leg as he dodged, cutting a quarter of the way through the leg itself and sending the beast crashing to the ground.

"You know what? No, it was NOT nice to see I'm not alone! I wanna go back to being alone! Fuck this noise!" Jasper said, teleporting to the side of the Ursa as it barreled toward him, sending it barreling head first into a tree, causing it to nearly break in half. Dazed, the thing staggered to turn around and face Jasper.

"Well, at least there's only one of you" Jasper said, his nerves calming down as he waited for the Ursa to rush him again, this time prepared to finish it off.

Behind him, something else roared.

Jasper just sighed.

Fuck.

Salt

"My turn my turn my turn my turn my turn-!" The sound of these words could be heard from roughly 4 spaces in line behind the one actually going at this very moment. A young man(boy?) was being held back by an old man, who had barely any grasp upon him but showed great skill in the act, evidently it was clear he had much experience wrangling this particular young man.

"N-not yet young master, they aren't ready for you."

"Eh!?!?!?!?!? But that guy is going!!!" The young master, one Salt Shaker, looked up at the older gentlemanly butler who was mostly a moustache rather than a man. "I wana go!!" Salt repeated, his held back state and continuously moving legs causing a black smere upon the perfectly waxed floor that even the most stubborn janitors want to quit.

The old butler watched as yet another student went through, he only sighed once more as his master's endless energy redoubled his efforts, the ground beginnjng to smoke and smell abit of burning... it was however, the luck of the other student that fell through, as it was at that point the young master's iron wrought paitence fell through. He planted both feet upon the ground and launched himself towards the portal currently almost occupied by the bland, faceless obstical of a young man that Salt barrels through and forces into the portal alongside himself.

Next up, was Salt Shaker, which was only met with the feeble pointing hand of the old butler. "Already in... I'm afraid..."

"Finally on the dumb super island. Why couldn't they have kept it volcanic? That'd be wicked cool! Dodgin fire and stuff, rocks fallin from the sky! Way cooler than this stupid forest." He was grumbling from the get go as the faint memories of being told to wait for the count down fell out of the other side of his head... Until somethinh fell out of the portal behind him...

Oooh! That tracker thing!!!

He snatched it up with his grubby little hands and tapped on it like an inquizative monkey, he was about to smack it to force it to work when it began beeping! Horray! He knew where his lackies were!! Now he just had to get them and his eventual greatness shall be secured.

He spun, chose a direction, and scurried off towards a beep on his self titled beepotrackathing.

Caeso Farran
Team FLOC

Waiting in line had never been something Caeso (Or anybody with higher brain function than that of a cabbage) had ever been able to draw a lot of enjoyment from. But this line in particular was an especially tedious affair, stuck here amongst his soon to be fellow students and trying his damn hardest not to look approachable. He had enough on his plate right now without having to worry about small talk, the crushing weight of his goals heavier on his shoulders now than it had ever been. Luckily for Caeso everybody seemed to have arrived at the same conclusion that the one dude wearing a rams skull over his head probably wasn’t going to want to hear about what they’d been up to over the weekend and were opting instead to give him a wide berth. The other perk of his concealed face was that it meant nobody could see just how nervous he was. A cold sense of apprehension had settled in the young man’s stomach during the opening speech given by the deputy head and he’d been struggling to give it the shake ever since, unable to slip away from the fact that these next few weeks would make or break everything he’d been training so hard for. Or at least they would if this bloody line ever moved an inch.

Soon enough the line did finally budge, some other guy shouting about salt had apparently been holding it up for a while whilst he argued with the staff member manning the portal. After that students were fed to the blue maw at a decent enough rate and Caeso only had to endure a few more minutes of funny looks before it was finally his go to take the jump. Gritting his teeth he activated his gauntlets with a smooth twist of his wrists, a heavy clunk ringing out as the bands of metal around his wrists transformed into his beloved Null and Void, deadly claws shining dully in the blue light of the portal. No point in waiti-

“Whoa, whoa! What do you think you’re doing kid?” Cried out the attendant, hands placed firmly on his head as if he was about to start ripping chunks of his own hair out. “No weapons out until you are on the island, can’t have the newbies skewering each other already. And take one of these, you’ll need it to locate your teammates.”

“Fine, hold on.” Sighed Caeso in response, claws retracting back into the gauntlets with a dejected hiss as he rolled his eyes so hard one would believe they might just fall out. But annoyance quickly turned to confusion as he realised that the size and nature of his weapons prevented him from wrapping the tracker around his wrist as intended. “How the hell am I supposed to put this bloody thing on?”

“That’s a you problem kid, I’m just here to make sure everybody gets through safely. Use your imagination.”

“Great. I hope they aren't paying you too much to be this useless.”

A few seconds of fumbling and a tracker tied around the ankle later Caeso was shoved through the portal perhaps a touch rougher than was necessary. He found his feet planted firmly in soft springy grass, a sharp contrast from the marbled floor he’d been standing on mere seconds ago with a lush landscape of dense woodland rolling away all around him. Must be nice to have a semblance as useful as teleportation, certainly quicker than traveling by foot at any rate. For a moment he elected to remain rooted to the spot, dappled sunlight filtering through the oak leaves above and leaving a pleasant sensation of warmth upon his body that made him reluctant to move despite the circumstances. Clearly the weather had forgotten how dramatic this was supposed to be. Couldn’t even be bothered to drum up a nice thunderstorm to help build tension? Perhaps the folks controlling this island just weren’t as tuned into their theatrical side as he was. Luckily a sudden flash of movement to his right was enough to make him wheel round, adrenaline spiking and claws at the ready once more.

Ribbit

Sitting at the tip of Null’s vicious claws was a fat and entirely unphased green frog balanced perfectly upon a long reed that protruded from the stream beside them. A glistening film of moisture around the little beast indicated that it had probably just leapt from the water, hence the sudden movement. For an awkward moment the two stared one another down, the soulless black lenses of Caeso’s mask meeting the vacant gaze of the frogs bulging brown eyes. Then the boy relaxed, his combat stance falling as he drew his weapon away from the animal.

“You should be more careful about who you surprise wee fella, wouldn’t want you getting skewered.” He chuckled to himself, embarrassed to think that any number of professional hunters and huntresses may have just seen that encounter. Becoming known as the one student who attacked a frog was not what he had in mind when he’d come here hoping to erase his grandfather’s bloodstained legacy. Best just to put this behind himself and get to finding whatever unruly sods he’d been paired with, at least before the Grimm did.

A dark reflection in the water was the first sign that Caeso had been tempting fate by thinking of Grimm, the second being the massive paw that smacked him in the back and sent him stumbling into the knee high water of the stream. Fighting to find his balance against the pull of the stream and the force of the blow that had hit him he turned on his attacker, steel grey aura still crackling. Standing on the bank was a particularly large beowulf, burning red eyes zeroed in on the now sodden Caeso. Something was off about it though, it’s colours faded somewhat, as if it had been affected by his semblance somehow. Probably just a fake then, not that the fact carried a lot of weight considering that hit had certainly felt real.

The two opponents sized one another up for a moment, each flexing their razor sharp claws in preparation for the coming brawl. The Grimm seemed somewhat confused now that it was face to face with Caeso now though, this little creature smelt human but the skull like head was hitting a little close to home. Or at least it did until he opened his mouth, confidence oozing from every word of his challenge.

“Come get some.”

The Beowulf happily obliged.

MARIGOLD CROWN | TEAM FLOC

It was truly surreal to finally be at Vytal Academy. With the Brightons being her mother’s half of the family, Mari had heard plenty of grand stories about the Academy in all its grace, but she always thought it was merely an exaggeration. Her family had a talent for that, after all. Unfortunately, though, the stories seemed to align quite well.

After the short introduction speech, surprisingly given by her very cousin himself, Mari found herself among one of the first names to be called for the assignment. She was very excited and totally not nervous.

Definitely not nervous. I mean, why would anyone be nervous about being watched and timed by some of the strongest huntsmen and huntresses out there only to likely be judged later on? That's literally nothing. And immediately having to prove yourself to the team you'll be stuck with for three years? Piece of cake.

Needless to say, Mari did feel the slightest, tiniest, most minuscule hint of pressure to do well on this assignment. She had a habit of wanting to do well, preferably better than most others, so not knowing what to expect from the other students, let alone her very own team, did worry her just a bit. Luckily, she didn’t have all that much time to overthink the situation, for her time was up.

“Marigold Crown, you’re next.”

Marigold looked up at the faculty member who had just called her name, giving a swift nod towards him while she clicked the radar around her wrist. Holding her breath, Marigold walked through the weird portal, not knowing what to expect on the other side.

In the mere fraction of a second, Marigold suddenly found her feet firmly land on much mushier soil, the environment changing from a clear view to a sudden swarm of trees as far as the eye could see. Listening in pure silence, Marigold picked up one the sounds of peaceful wildlife, as well as hearing the faint, gentle sound of running water. Truth be told, this was surprisingly comforting.

Having been one of the earlier ones to walk through the portal, Marigold took the time to investigate the radar, on which she had a perfect overview of the people she would be joining. Although all of the surnames evoked a weak sense of familiarity, the only name that Marigold truly knew was one that didn’t exactly bring a good taste to her mouth; Farran.

Although her nerves managed to somewhat sink away in her moment of peace and quiet, an obnoxiously loud start sign swiftly pulled her right back into her competitive spirit, her feet instantly moving the moment they were allowed to do so.

With her eyes shifting between her surroundings and the little tracker, Mari kept steadily moving towards her team until, all of a sudden, her ears picked up on an odd noise. Coming to a halt in a small slide of her feet, Marigold stood still as she tried to hear what it was, unsure what she was exactly picking up. It almost seemed like.. like something was rolling through the soil, and it was getting louder…

Oh no.

Rapidly jerking her body towards the location of the sound, Marigold raised her left arm, the metal bracer expanding into its elegantly decorated buckler-form while the blonde braced for impact. Raging out from the shrubbery, a Boarbatusk charged toward her in all its rolling glory, making a violent impact with the shield and shattering the hard-light projection that had jumped out right in time to take the blow. The Boarbatusk bounced back, landing on its feet a few meters away from Marigold.

Without hesitation, Mari pulled out her sword and ran towards the beast, holding the buckler at the ready in case of another charge. Truth be told, this was the first time she would ever be fighting a Boarbatusk, but there was very little time to have that sink in. Filled with adrenaline, Mari was ready to fight. Besides, she knew she could easily take this thing down. She had to.

While she made her way towards the enemy, the Boarbatusk did the exact same, causing them both to meet mid-way. Stepping slightly to the side just in time, Marigold managed to slash her blade across the side of the creature, causing it to release a burst of blaring squeals while it turned around and came back for another charge.

Thanks to its rather predictable movement, Mari managed to ready herself for their next clash, digging her feet into the slightly mushy soil while another hard-light extension released from the sides of her buckler. Her eyes were glued to the Boarbatusk as it came at her in a volatile charge, ready to take the hit and retaliate.

In a sudden disruption of the incoming sunlight, Marigold saw a black mass bolt towards her from the sky. Not much later, it was accompanied by a high-pitched screeching sound that tore into her ears. In a reflex, the student pulled her shield over her head, blocking the incoming aerial attack at the cost of taking another heavy blow.

Without the protection of her shield, Marigold was sent flying against the tree by the sheer force of the Boarbatusk, her golden aura wavering as it tried to stabilize. Caught up in slight disorientation from the hit, Marigold’s eyes shifted between the skies, trying to find the Nevermore. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk, that was still very much so alive, was already preparing for another attack.

Like any sensible person would and should do in such a predicament, Marigold made the decision to opt for a.. strategic repositioning. Fending off two very different opponents in an area with limited vision and movement wasn’t working on her side, so, clearly, she had to find better ground. What better way than to run as fast as she could, haphazardly dodging and fending off blows while doing so. Perhaps this would be a bit more challenging, after all.

Sirius Blagden

Making his way through the forest Sirius glanced around constantly flinching at the smallest sound, very much out of his element even the wind rustling the trees keyed up his anxiety and he only stopped watching his surroundings long enough to occasionally check the tracker on his wrist. When he next looked at the three blips he stopped where he was and stared more closely at the display as one of them seemed to be moving faster than the others while also changing direction erratically, tapping the device he wondered if it's little bath had done more damage than he thought but the other two were moving more normally.

Continuing on his way Sirius stopped again hearing a squeal from not too far away followed by the sound of wood splintering, tilting his canid ears toward the noise he picked up faint cussing, a lot of it. Checking his weapons yet again he dashed towards the fight.

Half jumping over half stumbling through a thicket Sirius came upon a taller boy facing down one ursa that was peeling it's face off of a tree with another poised to strike from behind.
"Watch out!" As he called out his warning he drew a knife marked with the number ten and held it before his hand in a field, thrusting his palm forward the knife launched through the air as if shot from a cannon and lodged in the raised paw of the rear ursa bursting into a solid chunk of rock making the grimm stumble under the unexpected weight. Turning on the other ursa he formed another field behind the tree it had rammed and shoved it up against the abused trunk sending it toppling onto the ursa. "M-mind your head!"

Hanarei Hanarei Keidivh Keidivh DeGraaf DeGraaf

Leaning against the back of the room, Vanta had his hand over his head, groaning.

"So much brighter here than in the Icehole..."

Despite being so young, his voice was surprisingly deep, but unsurprisingly had a lot of crack to it. It was noisy, there were too many people here, and the test was bound to be bullshit. Too many people was always a problem. Still... his hometown needed a hunter, and his parents DEFINITELY weren't up the task. At least Vanta had a semblance. A semblance that would get everyone killed, but hey, beggars couldn't be choosers. Maybe there was something about it he hadn't thought about. Or maybe if he was lucky it'd go off spectacularly today and kill everyone. Win/win.

Finally someone showed up to the podium. A man who looked way too energetic for potentially sending hundreds of children to their death. Granted Vanta only had so much time of staring before covering his eyes with his hands again.

"Poser. Bet he gives some long rosing speech that no one cares about."

He didn't. Vanta decided maybe this guy would be alright. Not great, way too peppy, but if he didn't make everything needlessly drawn out, he made it to the 'alright category'.

The test was bullshit. There were a few keywords Vanta picked up he wasn't sure others had. Vanta sighed longly as they boarded the bus, and took the back. A student was in his way. "Move." Vanta commanded. The kid was older than him (wasn't everyone), but the difference was, Vanta knew that, the kid didn't. With an annoyed rolling of his eyes, the kid moved over and Vanta sat down, squished in the back.

"I'm a freak..." Vanta said, trying very hard to squeeze in place. Buses weren't made for people like him. They were made for the average. Not only did he have to find space to cram himself into, Vanta needed to make sure he had time for finding out his teammates. Looking down the list, Vanta's apathetic face paled a bit.

"Knochenthal?"
Even someone from a backwaters Atlessian town like Vanta knew who that was. Finding a picture on the net wasn't hard either. Vanta uncurled himself from his corner, much to his bus partners annoyance, and made his way forward, pushing kids out his way, and recieving a few looks. A bump made Vanta's head hit the bus ceiling, much to his annoyance, making him near growl as he leaned down to the celebrity.

"You, Ashton, right? Give me your number. I'm Vanta."

He check the scroll afterwards.

"Who the @#$@ names their kid Lust?!" Sadly he was too late as the bus had arrived. Before any more scheming could be devised, they were off, and slapping on bracelets. Vanta's scroll was out like he wasn't paying attention. Unfortunately for the proctors, he probably was paying more attention than most.

"Kid, kid. Get ready to go."

Vanta raised the middle finger, getting his scroll to work.

"Don't you get an attitude with me. When I say go, I mean it! I could get you banned here and now for - "

A flash filled the room as Vanta took a picture of the watch.

"I'm good."

"GO!"

The portal opened, and Vanta was through, flailing a bit as he fell back, right infront of a volcano. "WHO THE @#$@ PUTS A VOLCANONIC REGION FOR TEENS!?"

He sighed, trying to get back to his phone. No sane Grimm would fight him here. Then again, his attitude made him a better Grimm magnet than most.

Pulling out his scroll, he looked at the picture, and smiled.

"They show you to the flags once your teams together. Great thing we were all together when they gave us our watches, so it was active then. Wonder if anyone else thought of that?"

He shrugged, and texted the picture to his new friend.

Coordinates from bus stop to the flag. Figure out where that is. I'm not bothering getting buddy buddy first, we're timed.

He then opened up the net, checking his scroll's battery, and stood in place as he started to go through news stories where he could. Most huntsmen tended to end up pretty famous.

"Can't find Remiel anywhere... Ugh... Just my luck. Probably a nobody. Well... let's look for lust. I swear if this is some stripper..."

He gulped, debating turning off the safe filter, but decided it was BEST on.

"Lust Erhöht ... Reverse look up... and..."

Hey, Lust, Vanta. Here are coordinates to flag. Meet me there. What do I call you. I'm NOT calling you Lust again. Give me something proper to work with.

A growl interrupted Vanta's attempt to find Remiel again, and in front of him an Ursa approached. It wasn't an Ursa. Grimm were bound by temperature near as much as animals and this place was a nightmare. This thing's skin was also not black. Vanta pulled out a grenade and a stun gun.

"You've got to be kidding me... They've given us shitty imitation Grimm!? Ugh... Guess I'm lucky though. Otherwise, I'd be swarmed I guess... Well... Yippe ki yay."

Celeste ran through the woods, jumping over roots, and breaking through bramble with ease. She'd whoop and cheer whenever she made a particularly flashy flip or jump as she went towards the beeps on her tracker. She knew that they were her teammates. The cracking of wood and the sounds of shouting drew her attention. Grinning a devilish grin, Celeste quickly hopped up a tree and formed a sword from Little Light. Noticing the two below were beeps on her tracker, she jumped down. "LOOK OUT BELOW!!!" she shouted as she slashed down.

Slashing down the Ursa's back, Celeste rolled and turned to the two people she assumed were her teammates. "Hi!" she greeted cheerily, waving, not caring about the aura. "I'm Celeste!" Hearing a roar, she turned back to the Ursa as it roared. Huffing and pouting, she turned. "I'm trying to have a conversation here!" she shouted, annoyed. Running forth, her eyes tracked the weak spots. An 'S' shape in it's stomach. Rolling under the Grimm, she cut the mark, and flipped up on the other side. Sheathing her sword with a click, the Grimm shattered. "That was easy!" she said as she shattered the sword into motes of light.

Seeing the second Grimm, Celeste whined out, turning and running back to Sirius. "WHY ARE THERE ALWAYS MORE?!" she shouted to the heavens, watching as it struggled under the fallen tree. Hearing beeps from her tracker, she looked at it. Someone was right above them?? Looking up, she saw a little something being carried by a Nevermore. "HAH?! What are they doing up there!" she said pointing. It would do no good for her teammate to be carrion feed on the first day. Forming the bident in her hand, she carefully took aim and chucked it, aiming for the wing. "EAT LIGHT, GRIMM SHIT!" she yelled out. The bident flew through the air. Hopefully it wouldn't hit whatever it was carrying.

Turning back to the group she put her hands behind her head. "Hey! You two idiots, one who is unfairly tall and the cute one with dog ears!" She pointed to the forest where more Grimm were approaching. "While we wait for bird meat to fall, want to smash some skulls?" she asked, forming the warhammer. The Ursa beneath the tree stood, shaking off any remaining tree debris. "I've got a few things I need to smash into their heads!"

Clatter-clatter. At her back, she could hear the telltale rumbling of steel on steel, her blade lightly shifting and swaying from within its heavy sheath. Beneath her, on the other hand, was the crunching of leaves and the bristling of grass parting in her wake.

It was a familiar contrast.

Metal against flora. Industry against nature. Despite the fiery coloration of her hair and eyes, the young woman marching her way through Amity Island had never been the passionate type, nor the sort of woman who involved herself much with sentimentality, but this was an ambience that she didn't dislike.

In the distance, she could her other rumblings. The far of sounds of combat rang out the loudest, but the bestial roars of the Grimm that rose to contest them were what properly seized her attention. Even if the Grimm were not involved with the task at hand, it would've been brash of her to not afford them the bulk of her attention. In fact, the task itself was simple, all she needed to do was track down her new comrades; the faculty had even afforded her a crutch so large as a locator device. Even if it was rudimentary, it was more than enough to get the task done.

For now, she'd decided to take her time. When she heard footfall, she changed her course. When she felt eyes on her back, she hid. The atmosphere that the distant sounds of splintering wood and sparking gunpowder set certainly seemed to be attempting to imply the island to be a sort of battlefield, but given the nature of the assignment, it didn't have to be. Not yet, at least. There were three tasks they'd have to accomplish here, and none of them were exactly the sort of thing that they'd be able to accomplish quickly.

Mmm. If her hunch was correct, then the real enemy here was going to be exhaustion, not the Grimm. It didn't matter how sharp her blade was if she'd already exhausted both herself and her supplies before the day was even halfway done.

So as she trudged her way past Amity's foliage, and around the ever persistent noses of its artificial Grimm, it was safe to say that she was taking her time. Her focus flitted between the environment and her tracker, until eventually the numbers on its tiny screen dropped from triple digits, to double, to single, and a merry looking girl entered her view.

"You." For the first time since arriving on the island, the young woman intruded upon its artificial soundscape. "Olivia Basili, I presume. Lumiere Yu. We've been made teammates, it seems." Her eyes glanced up and down the girl's figure. By the looks of things, she'd already been engaged in a scuffle or two. "Pleasantries aside, we'd best set off towards this Marigold and Caeso pair post haste, no?"

"Asht--"

It took less than a second. The man couldn't even finish it. He had barely raised his eyes and opened his lips to say the woman's name before she darted past him and eagerly jumped into the portal, a hand holding that frivolous hat of hers whilst the other kept a strong grip on her cane. Her appearance already labeled her as someone different from the norm, and even her name had people turning their heads. But, soon, they'd all see what truly set her apart from everybody else. Soon, Ashton Knochenthal would demonstrate what a truly capable and unshackled mind could do in the world of Remmant.

And, to be frank, she had hoped for the portal to have left her a few feet above the ground so that she could perform a stylish landing. She had even jumped as if she was leaping from atop a ledge towards the unknown depths below, something that proved to be quite troublesome when these depths ended far higher than anticipated. Whilst she didn't stumble nor fall, this rather mundane entrance led to Ashton fixing her outfit with tangible disappointment. People were watching her; she had to impress anyone and everyone looking at her.

Being a Knochenthal meant that, even when having entered only after her second try, the bar was already high for her to meet. Being the fourth child didn't mean anything if one was perceived to be the representative of a company, and so her every action could have repercusions in her family's life whether she'd like it or not. This meant that, more than ever, she had to be serious. What a bore.

"Yet nothing can be done about it; I've to find my partners for this dance for us to claim ou--" [Beep!]

Ashton briefly considered that Fate itself was deliberately sabotaging her first impressions as a Vytal student as she pulled out her scroll to see what the matter was. Her mother was someone that'd text her daughter if she was worried, but Ashton promised she'd keep her updated through regular mails and the ocassional video call. Her confusion would remain as she saw the contents of the mail:

A picture showing a set of coordinates from a tracker alongside a message that read "Coordinates from bus stop to the flag. Figure out where that is. I'm not bothering getting buddy buddy first, we're timed".

It took her a few seconds more than it should, but Ashton recalledwhat had happened in the bus:

Not so long ago, inside of a bus:

She had opted to seat herself by the front of the bus right next to a window. Whilst the scenery outside was quite charming, it was important that she got to know as much of her teammates as possible. Specially since one of those names was one that she knew: Ramiel. Whilst they were from Vale and resided there as far as she knew, her elder siblings were particularly attentive of them as potential backers for their eventual entrance to the continent and were actively seeking out an opportunity to meet with a member of the family to discuss business. Funny how life works: the one Knochenthal that's uninterested in the company's workings and growth is the one that'll meet a Ramiel in person and speak with them on the daily. She couldn't wait for brothers to suddenly be concerned about her well being and academic progress in Vytal.

Ashton was wondering what sorts of tools and equipment she could nag from them once the moment came when a tall man basically barged through the rest of the bus and made his way to her to demand her number, to which she obliged without thinking much of it. He wasn't the first person to approach her because of her family, but he was the first one to ask for her number. She briefly considered this man would send her regular texts in order to hook up, but dismissed the thought as he didn't have the face or demeanor for that kind of thing. He looked like he complimented someone by not saying "Whatever" every other minute in their presence, so she gave him her number in the hopes he'd contact her for professional matters. Who knows, perhaps she could get a few favors here and there

The present moment:

She snapped her fingers and doublechecked the members of her team. Effectively, one of them was named Vanta. She was so focused on Ramiel's presence that she didn't notice one of her teammates had already gotten to work in getting in touch her. Not only that, but he was the leader as well. What a way to introduce oneself in the job; Ashton was definitely impressed.

She chuckled once, then followed it up with a much more dramatic cackle: "Ahahahahaha! Marvelous, Vanta Black! Simply marvelous! I couldn't have done it any better myself! Very well, let us reunite by our prized standard and show the academy that we're not to be trifled with!" shouted Ashton, alerting any Grimm within several hundred feet of her location.

A small explosion echoed in the distance, but that was unimportant. First of all, she had to reach a high ground to get a better bearing of her surroundings. Looking around, she found herself surrounded by oaks and no Grimms in sight. Ashton took it upon herself to climb one of the trees and reach its top in order to peek out towards the clear horizon. She knew Amity was north of Vytal so, if she spotted the latter, she'd have her south and could orientate herself without issue.

She could also use her scroll to get a much more accurate direction, but she still wanted to jump down from a high place. Priorities had to be established at some point.

Salt
Team Salami

The bident came sailing towards the nevermore, causing the grimm to react with a quick turn to avoid the sailing projectile. This however, allowed Salt to get an arm loose from the grip of the strange glass-like bird. This arm, held the tracker, at which the young man currently stared at. "Huh? Wow, their already so close! Guess they must've heard how awesome I am. MR BIRDY! THIS IS MY STOP!" he yelled against the wind, the grimm only screeched in anger, which of course was not a suitable answer for any young man looking to get off this rather wild ride.

So naturally, the answer was met with a unfolding large cannon directed at the bird's face.

The explosion lit up the sky brilliantly, for a second until the smoke cloud took it over. The nevermore was, in a sense, splattered by the cannon shot which allowed our glorious hero freedom from the talons. Only of course to fall from his height downwards towards the group below.

Having the luck of the devil however tends to prevent one from a unfavorable demise, as such, the young man crashed into the Ursa who was about to begin combat, once again crushed into the ground, it was quite dead this time... Possibly due to the fact the heavy iron cannon landed, and implanted, into it's cranium.

Once the dust settled, the grimm dissipating and the young man pulling his scabbie kneed self up from the wreckage, he looked upon the others of the group before him with bright golden eyes.

A big bright smile was plastered upon his face as he spoke the first words of millions they would have to endure.

"HEYYYEA GUYS!!!! Didjyea see that bang!? It was great, lots of grimm in this woods huh? lots of fun and stuff!

So, like, who are you lot, obviously not famous or i'd tell just from lookin at yea.

I'm Salt Shaker~!

Your new head hunter of this year~!"

In the very least, he didn't draw out people learning to hate him.

JASPER MCQUELLIN

What the hell was even going on?

Jasper was never one to become easily confused, but when shit like this happens? He doesn't even know. He was just preparing for a strike, then BOOM! some dog Faunus comes out of nowhere and threw a throwing knife at the Ursa in front of him, which promptly exploded into a block of stone. The Ursa just barreled past him due to the weight, having lost function of both of it's hind legs.

"What kinda tom fuckery-" Jasper asked as he side stepped the Ursa that shot past him like a rocket before it's chunky rock leg dug into the ground, making the inertia of it's speed flip the thing over in a poor attempt at a front flip.

Then he was about to say something witty and impressive to introduce himself to the guy, probably something like "What?", when suddenly, another one just drops out of the sky and stabs the Ursa behind him in the back. Then, oddly enough, they introduced themself, expecting him to do so as well.

"I'm Jasper...?" Jasper said, more a question than anything because of just how befuzzled he was. His confusion only grew as the girl slid under the other Ursa and cut a perfect S into their stomach, which was odd to say the least. He was to bamboozled to process what they said next, but after a good three seconds, he understood.

"Wha-Okay, hold fire on the Nevermore, don't wanna hit the, uh, midget? Holy shit, why is that girl so smal-" Jasper began to say, promptly being cut off by the chick screaming 'Eat light Grimm shit!'. "Or that, yeah sure, that's cool too" Jasper said, squinting at the beam of light as it arced towards the Grimm.

Blinking at the new girl, Jasper looked between them an Fido the dog faunus. "Hold up, he's the cute one??" Jasper asked disbelievingly, his priorities strongly in order.

Hearing a beeping sound, Jasper looked down at his wrist in confusion. He then saw that his tracker was blinking madly in the direction of the flying midget.

Huh.

Well shit.

Then an explosion rocked his world. Looking up from his tracker, Jasper blinked in surprise as he watched the fireball grow where the Nevermore once was. Well, a teammate dead in what? 10 minutes flat? Gotta be a new record.

Hearing a crash and feel digitalized blood splatter across his outfit, Jasper jumped back with a yelp as he turned to see the amazing flying midget standing atop the dead Grimm with a full sized 16-Pounder cannon.

Then they said they're name.

With nothing but an exasperated sigh, Jasper rubbed his head. "Stranger shit I have seen" Jasper mumbled as he brought up his tracker. "What're your names again? Don't wanna call you Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Doe. I'm Jasper, by the by" Jasper introduced himself as he looked through his tracker screens. He couldn't find anything about the next task though.

Olivia really liked killing Grimm, so much so that she didn't even see it as killing them. She considered it more of her doing them a tiny favor, freeing them of their glimmer-less existences. Sure enough, her path towards her lovely teammates was marred by the occasional instances of extermination she had to give the pitiful creatures. These weren't Grimm, far from it in fact. But the mere idea of something being forced to wear the image of something so diametrically opposed to the laws of all that was Life ate at Olivia. Sure, she probably could've reached her team far easier and faster by simply using her maneuverability and semblance to evade the creatures, but that wasn't going to happen. What kind of person would she be if she didn't put in some effort to cull these poor creatures? It wasn't an idea that she could entertain with a good conscious.

But despite the two or three breaks she had to take cutting down a few Beowolves and a Nevermore, Olivia was still absolutely giddy to get close to her teammates. In between the fights, she resumed skipping happily along with her blades drawn in case anymore of the unfortunate fakes deigned to reveal itself in her presence. Lebenskuss was ready to fulfill its duty, and her aura was tingling with all the joys of anticipation. But instead of hearing the growl of the next sorry beastie, she halted skipping at the sound of a voice calling out to her.

Lowering her blades, Olivia crossed her arms behind her back as she tilted her head towards the girl who emerged from the foliage beside her. Upon looking upon her for a moment, Olivia's wide smile appeared again, the outline of it stretching her mask as she carefully tiptoed closer. The girl introduced herself as Lumiere Yu, one of Olivia's precious new teammates.

As Lumiere spoke, Olivia walked around her, looking for even a hint of her shimmer. Olivia's eyes softened, she could feel the presence of the woman's Aura quite clearly. Already she could barely hold back the tirade of questions that she wanted nothing more than to unleash upon her. But Lumiere mentioned something of import that reminded Olivia that this was only the first of the three Auras she would bear witness to today. So after closing her eyes, she gave a pleased little hum before laughing and bending forward towards her teammate.

"You speak truth, Lum-Lum. Learning more of each other will be saved for later, then." she cooed before dropping one of her swords and raising her hand to her ear "Listen~!"

Sure enough, from where they were Olivia could already hear the sounds of fighting nearby. Leaning back and stepping off to the side, she raised her tracker to her eyes as an imprint on her dropped sword's handle began to glow. Sure enough, those two other dots were close by. In fact, it almost looked like their fighting was drawing them closer to each other. As she walked, the sword behind her drew itself from the ground and floated towards her.

"They brawl even as we speak!" Olivia cheered as she hopped up and snatched the floating sword out of the air "If we hurry, we might get a sneak peek of how they Glimmer!"

Spinning around to look at her teammate again, Olivia latched both halves of Lebenskuss together as she turned and sped off towards their teammates. Well, her running was still similar to high speed prancing, hopping from log to rock to grass with wide arcing leaps whilst pulling out her weapon's cord and setting it up. She even began humming a chipper little tune as the distance between them and the other half of their team rapidly closed.

Sirius Blagden
Team SSLM
Sirius had been winding up another attack to dispatch the temporarily incapacitated grimm when a girl dropped out of a tree on one of them then swiftly killed it and launched another attack at a nevermore above, checking his pinging tracker he realised that he had already managed to stumble across his new team. Looking up at Jasper he opened his mouth to respond to the introduction when the girl's chatter cut in. "C-c-c-c-cu-cu." He stammered out until their last teammate dropped out of a fireball onto the remaining ursa.

Staring dumbly at Salt Shaker he tried to work out if the tiny one was actually using their real name and whether they were a boy or a girl or even old enough to be there. "Coyote!" He abruptly half shouted then sheepishly went on more quietly. "I-I'm a coyote faunus not a dog faunus. A-anyway my name's Sirius but you can call me Siri." Going over to the chunk still entombing his knife he shattered it with a wall of aura to retrieve his weapon. "I mean you don't have to but you can if you want to." He nodded to all three of them. "It's good to meet you all!" Despite his attempt to sound sincere he still harboured concerns about this trio he'd be working with, some more than others. Turning to the girl who had yet to introduce herself he smiled hopefully. "So what's your name?"

Lust Erhöht
|Team LAVA|

Lust continued to move forward following her tracker. Her eyes darted over to her scroll noticing her message from Vanta simply shrugging it off without much care to bother responding back. No reason to give a response to someone who lacks a good sense of taste in fine names whose mind is far too basked in debauchery to see beyond such 'childish' thoughts. She wasn't the type that tended to care about what others said about her, despite being more then willing to blurt out her own thoughts about someone. A flaw perhaps though someone of more upper class roots like Lust tended to lack empathy at least in terms of 'sugarcoating' things or telling white lies. At the same time she wasn't the type who despite her personal ego saw herself above interacting with the riffraff. As amazing as she was didn't suddenly invalidate others.

Her eyes locked onto her tracker noticing one of the dots approaching closer clearly going to bump into her far before getting to the flag. It wasn't really unexpected, she expected even if they simply met in the middle point they would individually bump into someone else before they got to another person in the party well before getting to their objective. Lust glanced up noticing a Grimm up ahead pushing off from the ground as her semblance activated causing her aura to suddenly push off from after her foot further projecting herself up into the trees taking a more 'above the ground' approach to slip past the Grimm. It seemed whoever it was near her was doing quite the opposite having made a bit of a show of things charging forward taking on the grimm head on on a rampage towards his destination. So much for avoiding conflict for very long.

Lust jumped down from the tree landing in front of Amber and another grimm. The creature turned as she landed seemingly out of nowhere her one weapon already drawn as he swung swung it over her head. The blade extended out the various sections connected by a red whip-like center as it came cascading down at an angle. The blade struck at the Beowolf's neck coming down upon it slicing clear through it as the blades glowed red from the application of her semblance aiding in driving through to slice through it. Lust carried through the swing whipping the blade over allowing it to detract back in giving it a light flick with her wrist as she returned it back to her side into its sheath. She turned to look to Amber a light smirk on her lips resting her hand on her hip.

"Well... I suppose if there is one thing you are good for I can tell already is being a very load and successful beacon of attention to make my job easier." She spoke a bit gloating mildly before lowering her arm to her side. She couldn't help but be a bit playful and to toy with someone, her eyes glancing him over briefly.

" As much fun as it is to see you compensate for your lack of a high tech CPU by utilizing extra brawns its better if we just focus on getting to our objective first and worry about trying to impress the lady Androids later iron man. Oh, and my name is Lust in the off chance you didn't know." She spoke shrugging a bit as if her name for some reason was common knowledge. She wasn't so delusional even with her ego that it was but she felt like continuing being a bit playful and seeing how he reacted. Despite her claiming they should hurry she didn't take off running in the lead giving him a chance to react or move ahead himself. He was a good decoy as she implied before.

Caeso Farran

Fighting from the water was not ideal for Caeso and as the beowulf launched it’s first attack his counter was almost scuppered by his foot slipping on the slick pebbles that made up the river bed. Fortunately this loss of footing meant that he accidentally dodged the slash anyway, the beast’s claws sailing just over his head as he stumbled forward like a newborn lamb. He’d been taught from a young age not to waste any opportunity to punish a foe’s mistake and this was no exception, whilst the beowulf was still beside him he reached under the arm it had attacked with and jammed the razor sharp claws of his gauntlet into the joint. Letting loose a terrible bellow of pain the Grimm flailed wildly but was unable to dislodge the boy from it’s flesh, causing the two to stagger around kicking up water as they pulled against one another.

“I’ve had just about enough of this fookin shite.” Caeso hissed through his mask, body straining as he fought for control. Seeing an opening he jumped up and kicked the canine’s closest leg with both feet and the result was it falling to one knee with a sickening crunch. With one maimed leg and three claws still lodged under its arm the Grimm was now easy prey and it was a simple matter for Caeso to slide the blades of his other gauntlet through the back of its neck, pushing until the Beowulf’s face was ground against the riverbed. As quickly as it had appeared the beast was gone, shattered into pieces that were carried away by the current.

With the threat dealt with Caeseo began pulling himself to shore, a string of muttered curses on his lips the entire time. He didn’t mind a good fight, that much was in his nature, but one that left his clothes drenched for the rest of this test was one he could have done without. Safely on the grass Caeso decided it was about time he checked on the tracker that currently tied to his ankle and after a few worrying seconds it blinked into life, three beacons shining away on its little screen. Waterproof then. He supposed that did make sense, after all if they can fork out the money for a mix and match training island it would be strange to see the school draw the line at waterproofing these trackers. Judging from the dots it looked like Olivia and Lumiere had already met up, leaving just himself and Marigold all by their lonesomes out here. That suited him just fine. Having a team was useful, there was no denying that but he didn’t see the point of meeting up with them before heading to the flag, if they couldn’t handle the threats the forest presented then they wouldn’t last in the long run. So better just to locate the flag and meet the others there. A simple plan.

Five minutes later Caeso’s simple plan had gone somewhat array. After a few minor missteps he’d found himself barreling down a hill atop a huge and extremely pissed off Ursa, the branches and rocks that were flying by threatening to dislodge him at any given second. Despite multiple stab wounds and all the cursing Caeso could throw at the hulking Grimm seemed to have no intentions of politely dying and was keeping up such an incredible pace that it was proving difficult to move up to the damn things head. Clinging tightly to one of the lengthy spines that jutted from the Ursa’s back Caeso managed to activate one of the fire dust canisters concealed within Null and the results were both immediate and quite spectacular. After feeling the now red hot blades of Null dicing up its back the Ursa came to an abrupt halt, sending the unprepared Caeso sailing through the air until he came into contact with something quite solid.

“Ouch… would you get off me already?”

Untangling himself from the golden haired girl he’d collided with Caeso quickly brushed himself off, shaking a few of the leaves free from his hood. Now whilst it obviously wasn’t this girls fault that she’d been in the way of his flight path but this whole thing had been a mess so far and he was in no mood to deal with any rando getting in the way of his hunt. Eying her through his mask he made note of her knightley plate armour and choice of weapons, it seemed like this one was going all out to fulfill the ‘fairytale hero’ archetype. A nice sentiment but sentiment wouldn’t get you too far in a fight. Speaking of which…

With the Ursa nowhere to be seen the only Grimm about to take Caeso’s attention was a Boarbatusk which seemed a little miffed about the new arrival. No matter, if he could quickly dispatch the creature he’d be out of this girl’s hair and on his way to the all important flag.

MARIGOLD CROWN | TEAM FLOC
In swift, concise steps, Marigold ran through the grassy forest, kicking around the loose leaves on the ground while the slight clinking noises of her armour pieces accompanied her strife. Behind her, the furious huffs and puffs of the Boarbatusk and the sharp cries of the Nevermore blended together into the perfect motivation to keep running. Despite the somewhat worrying noises, however, Marigold wasn’t even slightly doubting her ability to take them down, nor did she feel like she was in a rush to do so.

Marigold wasn’t one for brute-forcing her way through, and she knew that resorting to that technique wouldn’t benefit her right now. The best she could do was take her time to dwindle down her opponents while she looked for just the right moment, all the while making her way to one of the dots on her radar. She hadn’t exactly processed who she was running towards, considering her eyes were mostly on her surroundings, but that didn’t matter at the moment.

During her sprint, Marigold found herself turning around every time she managed to properly reload her arm crossbow, taking a swift shot at either of the Grimm whenever she had the chance to do so. Of the four bolts she fired off, only two managed to hit, with one finding its way through the Boarbatusk’s tusk and the other scraping past the Nevermore’s wing. Truth be told, Marigold wasn’t that great of a shot, so she was happy with what she had achieved.

The harsh tactical retreat didn’t go without some blows from the enemy, however, for both the Nevermore and Boarbatusk made sure to keep themselves busy. Several times had the Nevermore taken a dive down towards her, only to be greeted by her trusty buckler and, eventually the point of Lumiaris, who she had turned into a spear at just the right moment, sending it slashing right through the Nevermore’s chest. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk managed to charge past her quite a few times, luckily failing to land a hit during his attempts.

After about thirty seconds to a minute worth of running, Marigold finally saw the perfect moment to make her last stride. While her body was already more than ready to turn around and attack, Marigold took one more careful peak around her shoulder and..

A small gasp escaped from the blonde’s lips as she found herself collide with a hard and soggy thing, swiftly ending up on the ground with her spear still tightly grasped by her hand. Almost instinctively, Mari was ready to fight the moment she saw a skull right in front of her face, only to realize that this was most certainly not a Grimm. No, he was likely worse than that.

This must be the Farran. There was no doubt in her mind as she heard a voice coming from behind the skull, the grumpy tone awfully befitting for the crude, blunt and arrogant comment he made. Marigold would’ve expected an apology at the least, but instead, she received something that only furthered the inner judgement she already carried for the name. Also, why on earth was he wearing a damn skull over his face? It looked ridiculous, to say the least.

Much like this weird skull guy that had just brutally floored her, Marigold quickly got back up and ready to fight, knowing all too well that there was still a creature coming right after her and that this kind man had completely ruined her safe attempt at taking them down. As she wavered off a stray leaf stuck on her shoulder, Marigold made sure to interact with this lovely new teammate of hers.

“Well, hello to you too, teammate.” She replied rather begrudgingly, her tone, combined with her facial expression, definitely giving away the disdain and dissatisfaction she felt at that moment. This definitely wasn’t the encounter she was hoping for.

While she regained her battle-ready position, Marigold found herself even more agitated by another remark coming from the faceless individual. The absolute arrogant, smug attitude that almost visibly radiated from his soggy existence was overbearing up to the point where even she couldn’t help but reply back.

Following a slight scoff of disbelief, Marigold went on to say “No thank you, I don’t take orders from.. whatever you're supposed to represent. This is my fight.” before taking off into the direction of the Boarbatusk, her competitive nature overmastering her prior plans of keeping this neat and tidy.

In a quick sprint towards the target, Marigold thrust her spear towards the monster, accidentally aiming a bit too much towards the side, causing her to chip at the side of the creature’s face. Visibly upsetting the Boar, it was quick to try and retaliate, running right at her with its tusks ready for an attack. Taking a step back, Marigold kept her eyes on the creature as she saw the blue glow of the hard-light extension appear past her face, all the while shifting Lumiaris back into its sword mode. Pulling her arm back, she was more than ready to just slash forward the moment the Boar came close enough. This would be it.

Amber RamielHaving not received any messages from his team due to the wondrous typo that seemed to be threatening to follow Amber the rest of his life, the young lad continued to hurtle forward towards his team like a freight train. Subtlety had never been one of his strong suits, not even do to his augmentations, but more due to the fact that there was no real prestige to be earned sneaking about in the shadows. Besides, he knew what his style was. It was brutal and straightforward, and it often had the advantage of making potential rivals mistake his bullheaded approach for foolishness. This was a mistake, as Amber usually had a bit more finesse than most gave him credit for. Yet it was an arrogant approach all the same.

As he moved further towards one of his teammates he found some new prey that was eagerly hurtling its way towards him. It wasn't surprising considering the noise he had made so far. A pair of Beowolves. Not breaking his stride, Amber deftly ducked beneath the swipe of the first Beowolf before grappling its arm. Twisting around, Amber hurtled the beast into the ground with a satisfying thud before driving his fist into its face. This allowed its partner to land a solid hit it aggressive opponent, knocking Amber off his feet for a moment, but doing little else. Dropping into a defensive stance, Amber readied to counter the beasts next attack, finishing this with a final crushing blow. Just as he unleashed his strike however a rather unexpected guest joined the fray, leading Amber to tumble 'gracefully' to the ground for a moment as he desperately tried not to crack the skull of whoever the hell had just landed between him and the Grimm.

Quickly recovering, Amber did his best to hide his mild annoyance at this interruption. Before he even got to mutter a word however she hit him with a rather snide remark, causing his friendly smile to quickly disappear. It wasn't exactly what he'd call a good first impression, and a painful realization began to dawn on him, realizing this was to be one of his new teammates. These snide remarks were likely to be the beginning of many. It made sense that this was Lust, someone with such a strange name naturally had to have a grating personality to match. Easy now Amber, lets not cast her into the slag heap yet. Give her a chance.

Within mere seconds this chance was taken to level yet further insults at him, quickly smothering any hopes he had that this would be an enjoyable partnership. Resisting the temptation to roll his eyes, Amber simply gave the girl a disinterested stare, he wasn't about to feed in to her snarky behavior by giving the girl what she wanted. "Lust eh? Yeah, you're about what I expected." Such was the monotone in his voice it would be quite difficult to tell whether this was meant as a compliment or insult. Rather than wait for her to decide, he simply began moving on towards where the rest of their team should be located.

"The most direct approach can often be the quickest kid, you just need the will to bust through some obstacles on the way. Don't worry, I'll be more than happy to do the heavy lifting." Giving her a thumbs up as he walked away, Amber truly hoped that the rest of his team wouldn't be so immediately grating. In truth her skills seemed impressive, as she deftly dismembered that Beowolf with little effort. It was a skill he could appreciate. All's he had to do was survive her sharp tongue.

"So, are you always this good with people?" He asked as they continued their journey, knowing a quick victory was on both of their minds.
