Siren
Rena's training was going surprisingly well. When they first started out, Rena was constantly caught off guard by Rain's ability to read every single one of her moves. It seemed like each step she takes has a dagger waiting for her. Every time she can close the gap, the siren managed to upset her footing.
"T-This is ridiculous!"
"I did tell you that my Rena was a Wind Sneaker. Now, up on your feet again. Your stance needs work, and your kicks need power. Fight as if you're going to kill me!"
Their training often went from the middle of the afternoon to late at night. There really wasn't much for them to do when Oblivio and Add were constantly working on perfecting Unification. Raven and Lara would often watch them, but they don't seem to want to join in. Honestly, Rain's a bit relieved that she doesn't have to interact with Lara as much as she should. There's some sort of tension in the air, as if it's ready to ignite the moment one of them step out of line. The last thing she needs is to die by her hands without having her wish fulfilled.
One evening, when Rena finally manages to force Rain to block, a mana orb separates them and dissolves their weapons. Lara addresses them in an irritated way as she calls them in for dinner.
"Ah, I didn't notice the time. When you see fast progress, it makes you want to keep going, right Rena?"
"Yeah, you're right. Sorry, Tureen, we'll be there shortly."
Rena runs off first, thanking Lara as she goes and joining the rest of the group. Now alone with just the two of them, Rain heaves a heavy sigh that she didn't think she was holding and stares straight at Lara.
"I apologize if this sounds rude, but I'm not really hungry. If you want to join me and look at the stars for a bit, then feel free to."
She had hoped that her anxiety didn't show. The Soul Priestess didn't look like she wanted to do anything with her yet, but then again, she could be waiting for the right time: the moment when hope becomes despair, and betrayal cuts itself cleanly into her heart once more. Rain lets out a light chuckle at the thought, one that's more bitter than reminiscent.
"Even though it's a different dimension, I still can't believe I'm training a Rena like I am. You know...I wonder how everyone else in her dimension is doing. Did they enter Elysion yet? What sort of new things that they encountered? I wish I knew, but here I am, just waiting to die. What was I thinking, still hanging on to my wish of living when the world I want can't be mine anymore...?"
