Fandom Pokemon: Worlds Unfurled

Oh wow, lovely teams!

Mine I believe, or I should say intend as the final product, would be as follows.(not in order)

Swampert, Lopunny, Steelix, and Scrafty are the four I am for sure wanting to put in my party.

For the other two, the candidates I am likely going for are Galvantula and Muk.

The theme I am going for is pokemon that I rarely, if ever, use in the games. As well the team very could well change after catching them, depending on how things go in RP.

The only one that will stay cute[ish] is Azumarill. Poor Harlow will have a ninja frog, giant elephant, big zebra, floating chandelier, and giant eagle bird. ;-;

Ooh King, that's such an awesome team! :o Can't wait to see 'em in action!

Lol your logic is similar to mine. Adorable pokemon! I wasn't a fan of noibat untill pokemonami then I just couldn't help but love the little guy! Tempted to make a team in pokemon based on what Abby catches.
Lol I am doing the same with Ricky. Yay!

@Kyero Question time!

1. Regading abilities of pokemon. Are the abilities of pokemon going to be what is available through canon? For example Duosion's abilities are Magic Guard, Overcoat, and regenrator, and those are the only choice to pick from. Or will it be any ability that is within reasonable bounds for a pokemon to have, for example it might have Clear Body, since it has... well a clear body(kinda). And concerning the latter example, abilities like Own Tempo, Oblivious, Cute Charm, or Anger Point, seem more generic and based on a pokemons nature and personality than powers making sense that it is possible that any pokemon might have that as an ability. An easy example there being Ricky's seemingly oblivious mudkip. Or any water type might know Torrent or any ice or fire pokemon may have Flame/Ice Body depending on the attributes of the species of granted pokemon.

2. This is more of a suggestion, regarding the pokedex. Now it is obvious that the dex is linked to the trainer, as is the pokemon. And just as the pokemon's vitals are able to be measured by the pokedex, why not the trainer's vitals too? Like a kind of life alert system. Given the realism of the RP, misfortunes are bound to happen to trainers out in the wilderness. For example being chased by a swarm of beedrill but not being so lucky as to outrun them. If tragedy befell a trainer, the change in vitals would alert the nearest medical center to either call the trainer to check in or send an EMT to rescue them. This too could also tie to the unfortunate event that if a trainer dies, the pokedex would know and either release the pokemon that the trainer has or send them to the nearest authorities to be taken care of. This sort of system would make sense given the potentially dangerous nature of pokemon and the fact that youths are being sent out into the wild with no real skills.

Thank you! :]

You know, play it right Cloudy, and Harlow will be able to pull off a good Beauty and The Beast kind of scenario! A girl riding a donphan or super electric zebra suddenly makes either seem a hundred times cuter, especially when protected by her loyal ninja frog in shining armor. Not to mention adding a chandelier to anything makes anything seem that much more elegant.

AHAHA! Ermagawd. Laughing so hard right now xD

How many Characters can we have? I tried to look to see if it was in the rules somewhere, and I am sure you might have probably sort of, kinda brought it up earlier, but could you just tell me real quick?

@DamagedGlasses Everyone gets one character.

@KingHink The Pokedex thing sounds fine to me so we can consider it part of the dex's function from this point on. As for Pokemon abilities, none.

Obviously, Pokemon of certain types will resist their same type moves and environmental hazards, but otherwise there are no special abilities. Levitate is obviously a built in factor and cannot be helped, as are a few others (such as static on electrics whose bodies naturally store electricity), but otherwise Pokemon don't have abilities specifically in this RP.

Time Skip is officially done! The date is now August 12, 2014 IC, around 8 days after my previous post so just over one week's time.

If anyone is still unclear about how Gym Battles work, Gym Leaders are always played by yours truly. When you want to challenge a Gym, let me know because they are mine and mine alone to control.

Now, for the part that not everyone will enjoy hearing but you need to hear it:

If the way I play my side of the battle says you lose, then you lose. If the way I play says you win, then you win. But remember that I have the final say in whether or not your character will emerge victorious.

In order to ensure and enforce my decision, I will make it very obvious in the way I word things whether or not you're in for a victory or a defeat. If you read something like "with no way to avoid," or "without time to react," then that means your Pokémon is about to get hit and there's nothing you can do about it. If you magically avoid it because your inner Pokémon Master from the video games and your competitive spirit just can't handle losing, that will count as a strike against you and will result in a much worse punishment for your Pokémon during the next move. Also, such actions will result in a strike against you for the RP in general as a God-Modding offense.

During Gym Battles, when I decide your character loses, it will feel very much like I am God-Modding, but what I'm actually doing is taking into account your Pokémon's age and experience and weighing it against the Gym Leader's Pokémon. When I determine that the difference is great enough or should be great enough given what your character and their Pokémon have gone through, the Gym Leader's Pokémon will outperform your own and I will make it abundantly clear when this is the case. In fact, you can ALL expect me to do that during your first Gym Battle.

Whether or not that means everyone will win or lose their first match remains to be seen (as not everyone will, hopefully), but depending on how you structure your strategy and word your actions and expected moves against them, the Gym Leader's Pokémon will either play it as it goes or they'll have seen it before an know exactly what to do to take you down. In such instances the Gym Leader might not even have to participate if their Pokémon knows your strategy when the match begins, so be careful.

The more straight forward your methods, the more likely you are to lose.

I'd like to wish my Pokemon peeps a Happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

@Kyero I've got a question.

So let's say I have a Braviary. A really, really big one. Let's say my character could sit on it and fly on it. But it doesn't know the move Fly. Can it still 'fly' with Harlow on it's back in a non-battle situation? Or would it have to know Fly to actually.. well, fly?

Remember there are no HM's in this RP so as long as the Pokemon can physically support your weight they can fly you around, let you surf on their back, let you ride on their backs like a horse, etc.

Ah, okay, thanks. But in battle, you would have to have the move fly, I presume.
In order to fly up and dive bomb an opponent? If your Pokemon has wings, not at all.

I'll say it again cloudy, there are no HM's in this game and that includes the moves that supposedly come with them. In order to pull off the moves, you'll just have to be creative and teach your Pokemon what could be the equivalent of that move. Most will call them different things anyway like perhaps replacing the word "surf" with the phrase "tidal wave" or "tsunami" or "torrential water" or something to that effect. The HM's and their respective corresponding moves do not exist in this RP, so you'll have the freedom to get creative and name such moves however you like when your character is inspired to have their Pokemon use such moves in combat.

Awesome, okay. Sorry, I can be so ignorant with such questions.
"Ignorant" is not the right word to use in this situation, as it's an easy mistake given the sheer volume of conversation in this OOC thread where the previously mentioned info is likely buried. I don't blame you for asking rather than forcing yourself to sift through all the random crap we've talked about.

:smiled: Thanks. I just like to be super clear with everything before I go and write up a bit post that is incorrect.
That's why I like you guys. Most of you are like that so I'm happy.

By the by, is anyone here a Halo fan?

I just created a new Halo RP but my timing was atrocious in doing so. I created it yesterday on Thanksgiving... DERP!!

I seem to have one person interested in joining, but I haven't seen anyone else interested in the recruitment thread or on the RP itself so I'm a bit worried that nobody will join up.

Hey everyone!

For those who are at Pewter and want to challenge the Te Brothers, you don't have to wait for King's post to communicate with me about putting together your battle. If you want to get started, just shoot me a message.

@Kyero Our group is making it onto route 10 heading for Rock Tunnel. Could you please post the pokemon found in those locations? We probably wont be straying much from that location for a little while, maybe onto route 9. Power Plant is also on route 10 if that effects the kind of pokemon that will be around

I will take care of that when I get home from shopping a bit later tonight.

Route 10 leading to Rock Tunnel from Lavender Town, correct? That route has no grass in the games so for the purposes of the RP I'm going to declare this side of the route to have the same Pokemon as Route 1 minus the water Pokemon as there's no water there. Maybe a stream or two, but nothing big enough for supporting life.
