Fandom Pokemon: Worlds Unfurled

Kyero

Three Thousand Club
So, something I didn't put on the RP's main page is that this RP is basically a "forge your own adventure" RP. There is an underlying story, and my character Sakura is basically a catalyst through which I will tell the main events as they unfold. If you want your character involved in them, you may get involved. If you want to ignore the story that's being told in the background you are free to do so.

Think of this as a sandbox rpg, completely open world and having only the rules that belong to the Official Pokemon League to slow you down. But that's if you even participate. When you receive your Pokedex and your first Pokemon, you are not required to participate in the Pokemon League. It is there if you want it, but otherwise the world is yours to explore and your adventure for you to define on your own.

If you would like to partner with someone, or play as a group all together, then let me know your preference and we can begin constructing a method by which to accomplish this. But by default this is a sandbox RP for you to forge your own adventure on your own time without feeling the need to rush to keep up with anyone else (unless you've partnered up in which case it's on you to keep pace with your posting buddy).

Another thing is that Team Rocket is indeed the central antagonist and one of the few canon pieces of material I am using to drive it home that this world is dangerous (hence the no children under the age of 16 rule). Counter to their video game and manga/anime counterpart, this organization is vast and very, very dangerous. They are highly organized, and are not often known to fail. When they do fail, they have several contingencies to ensure that their goals are met even if one or two of the attempts aren't successful at first. They use Pokemon as tools of war in the most basic sense of the phrase, in that they use them to attack humans as well as viciously train their own Pokemon to attack with intent to cause grievous harm to their opponents.

Team Rocket is not to be taken lightly, as even their lowest level operatives have very powerful Pokemon under their command and if you aren't careful they will kill your Pokemon if given the chance. They'll try to steal them first, of course, but if they can't do that they'll be just as happy to kill them.

Hi! Is like to reserve a spot for this if possible! I'm on holiday right now so I can't post my form (unless you want a super short one with typos) but I'll be back in two days, I understand that is kinda late though, so maybe I'll just jump in if the RP has already begun!

The RP isn't likely to being for a fair while so don't worry. You have time.

Question. I'm planning making more of a support/ Breeder character similar to how Brock was, who grew up on a farm. Is this allowed and how much knowledge would she have about pokemon? The point wouldn't be fore her to have knowledge of battle but rather how to raise pokemon and care for them.

I would like to know how far your realism goes. Would certain things such as Pokemon Abuse/Homicide from the Teams be a normal thing?

Pokemon will be abused and killed in this RP, sometimes for no greater reason than because some people can. Illegal Pokemon sports, much like how dogfighting and cockfighting in the US are illegal, will be part of the world as well. Basically, things we know of to be true in real life regarding animal cruelty will translate to the world of Pokemon.

How will the Pokemon battle system be like? Will it be like the Manga where a Rattata could bite off a piece of the horn of a Nidoking? I assume yes, as I doubt with this level of realism you would have battle where Pokemon merely "faint" when they are defeated.

Realism proves such a feat to be impossible for a Rattata.

The size difference alone (laws of physics) prevents it from happening, not to mention the relative jaw strength required to perform the task being far beyond the capabilities of such a small Pokemon. However, just because a Rattata cannot accomplish the task doesn't mean other Pokemon of proper size and strength could not. If a Nidoking was bitten by a Feraligatr, for instance, there is a most definite possibility for the breaking/shattering of a horn as well as other grievous injury.

However, Official Pokemon League battles are for sport, not causing damage. Pokemon battling under the control of Trainers participating in the Pokemon League compete in a similar manner to athletes, in that their goal is simply to exhaust their opponent to the point where they cannot continue the fight.

Team Rocket, on the other hand (which is an evil superpower contrary to its rather incompetent video game/anime/manga counterpart) will do all in their power to beat down your Pokemon to near death before trying to steal them. If they can't steal them, they'd be happy to kill them by shooting them with a gun.

Having textbook knowledge of Pokemon is fine by me. So if your character grew up on the farm watching their parents do what they do, watching other breeders on tv, reading books about it, then I'm fine. So long as your character doesn't have very much hands on practice in dealing with such things personally then I don't have much if anything to say.

Again, the point of the RP is to start it with as little knowledge and experience as possible. If you want to trade hands on experience for book knowledge and observational knowledge, I'm fine.

Team Rocket

So, Team Rocket.

Yes, this is one of the only parts of the original series which I am keeping and they function as the central antagonist in this RP. Contrary to the video games/anime/manga, this Team Rocket is an evil superpower widely feared throughout the world. They almost never fail to accomplish their goals, as they are methodical, meticulous, and have incredibly high level tactile minds at the center of their planning council. The boss of Team Rocket is not Giovanni from the games, but a new foe which I have designed specifically for this RP which makes Giovanni look quite kind by comparison.

You'll see what I mean in time not long after the RP begins. So yeah, stay away from Team Rocket as much as possible.

Alrighty, that works with me.
Fantastic.

So let's say I'm battling with my.. Skitty. It uses Scratch on a Piplup. Does this Piplup loose an eye? And if I used a move such as.. Energy ball, would the opposing pokemon be burnt on contact or something like that if the attack makes it? Talking about physical moves where you get up close and moves like Swift, Energy Ball, etc.

Sorry, I should have been more specific with my example. The scene I remember had Rattata using Hyper Fang on the Nidoqueen. Now, I can't remember if this was canon, or simply a humorous way to describe the difference between the Anime and the Manga, but it did inspire my question. You basically answered the question anyway, so its Ok.

Physical attacks like Scratch, Slash, Tail Whip (yes, it's physical in this RP), etc., all have the potential to cause grievous harm depending on the circumstances. In a battle of two small stature Pokemon such as your example, there is a possibility of such damage but it's not likely. If your character is a Trainer of honor and has even a decently kind heart, they will teach their Pokemon not to aim for such places as the eyes due to the danger to the health and safety of the opposing Pokemon. Pokemon Trainers participating in the Pokemon League are required to treat the battles as sport and push to cause as little lasting damage as possible and instead aim simply to outlast one another.

When it comes to metaphysical attacks (elemental) the rules change somewhat, as nearly all of them have the power to do permanent damage if used incorrectly. Trainers registered for the Pokemon League are required by law to train their Pokemon "properly," and teach them to control the level of power they place in such moves so that they hurt, but don't cause permanent damage. But nearly all metaphysical attacks have the potential to cause intense damage to any Pokemon on the receiving end, particularly if it's a type advantage for the attacker. Electrical attacks and fire attacks will leave burns if the power is too high, grass type moves could leave scarring, ice moves could cause frost bite, etc.

However, only Pokemon Trainers registered for the Pokemon League are required by law to teach their Pokemon to hold back. Other Trainers who receive their first Pokemon and then begin a personal journey not bothering with badges or competition will be under no such restrictions and may very well be cruel enough to teach their Pokemon specifically to cause as much damage as possible which could result in severe hospitalization or even death for the other Pokemon.

Call me out Kyero if I'm wrong, but no, it wouldn't, because you'd be fighting fairly and sportingly under Pokemon League rules and aiming to exhaust only. If you were fighting team rocket though they might target your piplup's poor eye because they are big meanies who like to cause violence and stuff.
I actually just explained that in my latest response to someone else.

Okay. So let's say my Skitty did not aim for the eye - would the opponent come out of the battle with a scratch mark? And if I return my pokemon to its pokeball, and give it a few hours (or send it to the pokecenter) will it heal?

If you attack physically, there will be marks, yes. The severity depends on how well trained your Pokemon is and how tough the opposing Pokemon's flesh is. Such wounds as sporting scratches will only take a few hours to heal, further sped up if you use Potions and such. More serious injuries require up to a day in the Pokemon Center.

Nice, okay. I'm starting to like this better, it's like pokemon for the realistic people. Lol.
That's the idea.

Hey guys!

I have added a new page called "Items" so you can see basic items and prices of things you'll need on your adventure. Some of the prices vary from their in game counterparts, and this is intentional.

If you're wondering why equipped items from the games aren't there, it's because they're not supposed to be. Many of the equipped items in the games enhance Pokémon stats, and since real animals don't have stats most of the items are completely useless for this RP. As such I have elected to remove them entirely from the RP. Instead, they are little more than aesthetic appliances which can make your Pokémon look cute.

I love cute. Are there contests? The ones where people dress their pokemon up?
Absolutely. I'm not sure how they work as it's a mechanic in the games I ignored, but I'd imagine in a more realistic world the shows would be more like a regular fashion show with each Pokemon coming one at a time to demonstrate their looks with poses, and finishing a short routine with one of their techniques or something like that to make an impression.

You guys are free to take charge of whatever contests like that you take part in, as I never used them in the games so I don't really have much to say about them or any reason to block them from the RP.

Sound like fun. In the anime it was similar to battle just alot more flare and creativity

All right, so until Ricky's Legendary History is up I'll wait on him but both Anton and Abigail are officially accepted to the RP!

When you're done with Ricky's Legendary History section, King, let me know and you should be good to go.

I'm having a really hard time trying to pick a legendary because I have no clue what I'll do for the legendary history. Anyone got any tips/ideas?
