Pokemon GX - Episode 2
Our story begins on an island ripe with biodiversity and poke-life, where spearows fly free and mankeys climb trees. Where wild ursarings roam and beedrills make their home. An Island where four birds of legend are said to reside, though whether the myths are true or not remain to be seen. Of the coast of the Kanto region, lies a school built to educate elite pokemon trainers as they make their journey through a world vast and mysterious world of Pokemon. RBY institute. A prestigious academy founded by pokemon masters Red, Blue, and Yellow. This is where our story begins.

As evening draws close, the students RBY institute gather one by one, or perhaps in groups, to where the festivities are being held underneath the starry sky. Lanterns were slowly being lit and long tables laden with food, where teachers set up the plates, served as backdrop to enclose a spacious clearing. At the center of said clearing, where a bundle of sticks were gathered, stood a bearded man in his forties. Late thirties if you were being generous and early fifties if you weren’t. Regardless, the man known by many as Headmaster Hazel stood proudly amongst the students that made up his beloved school.

Some had their pokemon out. Some didn’t. Some were faces he recognized. Others were completely new. He gave them all moment to settle, find their friends, and/or grab a plate before clearing his throat. “Ehem! Wel—oh thank you, Professor Slowking.”

“My pleasure Headmaster Hazel,”
the pink pokemon drawled as he handed the school’s headmaster a microphone before strolling away from the center of attention. Slowly. As all slowkings did.

“As I was saying, welcome all to the start of another school year at RBY institute! For some of you, it’ll be your first time stepping foot on RBY Island. For others, it may be the last. Regardless, I hope you take the chance to experience all this island has to offer. Explore different classes. Catch pokemon! Listen to teachers. Do homework. That’s how you earn the points to graduate from this school. More importantly, that’s how you’ll excel as a pokemon trainer. That said, I’d like to give a shout out to the student who earned the most points since last year and remains our highest ranking student. The victor of last year’s Kanto Grand Festival and semi-finalist in the Indigo Plateau, please give up for our student council president, Eloise Trambelle! You do our school proud.”

The applause was deafening as the blonde 6th girl year curtsied, though none cheered louder than the students of the blue dorm. A couple of rough looking boys from the Moltres Dormitory scoffed, but they were a minority. Blue, Red, and Yellow. Though it wasn’t entirely obvious, the students still separated themselves by the relative colors of their dorms. It was natural. People wanted to stick with their friends. The ones that shared their values. The ones they studied with daily. Competition drove the students to excel. However, Headmaster Hazel also wanted to see the colors blend.

“Each of you have the potential stand where Miss Trambelle is now. Your classes begin tomorrow. Study hard. Train hard. Play hard. I have the utmost confidence that every one of you will do me proud!” More cheers. “Regardless of differing future goals, different values, and different ways we choose to handle pokemon, we are all united in our love for these wonderful, mysterious creatures. A love for pokemon! That is what makes RBY Institute THE BEST pokemon trainer school around!”

This time Headmaster Hazel had to plug his ears as he waited for the cheers to die. Louder than an exploud they were.

“So, without further ado…Talonflame, if you would!” A screech resounded through the night as a red, flame-colored bird soared overhead. A flap of its wings was all it took for embers to rain down and light the large bonfire. “I announce the commencement of RBY’s Opening Ceremony Feast! Eat your heart out folks! There’s pokemon food in the back next to Professor Slowking.”

Music sounded from the speakers as the intelligent pokemon with a shelldar crown latched on its head waved.

Eloise Trambelle.

Beautiful, talented, accomplished, and stunning in her teams assigned color - Jetta’s eyes softly focused on the female, admiring the force of nature she obviously was. “How do you even get there?” She said in one slow exhale. Beside her, latched around her denim short belt loops, was her partnered fairy key Pokémon, who jingled cutely in response. “I would expect you to have the answer kleffy, you are a key after all!”

She gave a small giggle as the Pokémon remained oblivious to the irony, before the warm wafting aroma of food curled around her like the ghost hands of a dusclops and pulled her in to eat. Jetta was eager to make friends- she gave everyone shy but quite friendly smiles, but seemed to over apologize her whole clumsy way into the eating area whilst trying to maneuver through so many people.

Everything was a bit surreal, which encouraged Jhetta’s eyes to remain wide and curious as the day stretched on.

“hi professor,” she managed to say, once she was within earshot of the accomplished man. He was so respectable and intelligent, devoted to his forever purpose. How would she get there? It seemed eons away.

There were so many more people here than Aloysius expected. Honestly - he had heard RBY Academy was famed for its prestige and selectiveness among potential students, he had sort of assumed that the number of people here would be quite small. There were more people here than the entire population of his hometown! Then again, on the grand scheme of things, considering all regions were allowed to send in their hopeful applications... less than a thousand really wasn't a lot, was it?

Which made it all the more curious what he was doing here in the first place. After all, it wasn't as though he was particularly accomplished. Sure, he had a rather famous grandmother and his family name carried a certain weight in some circles, but Loy knew enough about the Academies that such things didn't provide any particular weight. Not really. So it wasn't because his name was le Fay. No, the school's headmaster had apparently seen something in him that he wanted to have here at his school, and though Aloysius had no idea what that thing might be, he was certain that he wasn't here by mistake.

Even if it sort of felt that way.

Everyone else in Zapdos seemed to know exactly what they were doing. Why they were here, the great plans they had for their future, areas of study they wanted to focus on... they all seemed to have it figured out already. Even the twelve year olds! And there was Aloysius, quite possibly the oldest first year the school had ever seen, sticking out above the crowd like a sore thumb. It was quite obvious that he didn't know what to do with himself. He'd never been in a crowd this big, let alone attended a party like this... well, at least there was food, right? Good food... that should calm his nerves a little.

He picked his way through the crowd, edging around trainers and generally just trying not to be a bother to anyone. He felt rather misplaced... he could only hope the feeling would fade with time. He never really had trouble making friends, at least, but it was the first night. Emotions ran high all around him, people were excited, anxious, joyful... all these feelings and more swirled in the air and they lay heavy on his tongue, fogging up his head with feelings he couldn't entirely be sure were his own to begin with. There was a reason he didn't often find himself in crowds. He even had Elancer tucked away in her pokeball for now, for while she was great at offering him support, he wasn't sure he wanted anything else added to the pool of feelings swirling around like abstract colors in his vision.

Oh! And he walked right into the punch table without seeing it. "I'm sorry!" he called quickly, fumbling to catch a few glasses that had toppled towards the ground, but he wasn't quite fast enough to get all of them. Oh, what a right mess he was... not the impression he wanted to make! "I'll just..." taking one of the glasses, only half-full from teetering over and spilling a bit of its contents on the ground, Loy fled towards the back of the crowd, hanging at the fringes where things weren't quite so loud.

The jingling of bells is what alerted Headmaster Hazel of the girl that approached him—a cheery looking, silver-haired teenager. Hazel smiled in greeting, a warm curve that met the crinkle of his eyes.“Hello, there! I haven’t seen you around before. You must be a new student.”

The older man reached out to shake the young girl’s hand, his eyes darting to the pokemon latched to her belt hoop. “And a Kefki no less! That must mean you’re from the Galar region.”

Slipping a hand into his pockets, Headmaster Hazel fumbled for one of the keys on his keychain before holding it out to the mischievous fairy type. “I hope you enjoy your time here on RBY Island. It’s mostly inhabited by kanto region pokemon, though young would-be trainers like you coming from all over are the reason for this school’s relatively diverse culture and pokelife. Therefore, I thank you for enrolling to RBY from the bottom of my heart.”

“So…,”
Headmaster Hazel cocked his head slightly. “What brings a bright, young girl like yourself to an old man like me when you could be partying with the other kids?”

As if to emphasize his point, Eloise Trambelle could be seen rejecting several requests to dance as the star of the Articuno dormitory plated herself some salad. Beside her, two identical young girls in clown suits, who didn’t look much older than 12, acted as a shields to ward off the boys.

In another corner of the festivities, a small crowd of students gathered as two pokemon battled—a rattata and butterfree . What started as a fight over a piece of cake between two RBY students ended in a full on pokemon challenge.

“Rattata, HyperFang!”

“Dodge it, Butterfree!”

Leaping at its opponent, the purple rat pokemon bared its glowing front teeth at the kanto region butterfly, which flew out of the way. Again and again the pattern repeated itself, rattata getting closer to its target with every jump. The crowd of onlookers oohed and aahed.

“Keep it up, Rattata! You can do it!”

“Don’t let it, Butterfree. Push it back with Gust!”

TWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Just as butterfree began to flap its wings, generating a gust of wind to push back the jumping rattata, and possibly the table of food behind it, a whirl of flames cut between the two fighting pokemon. A blue haired girl with glasses and a whistle between her lips ran forward with a growlith in tow.

“Stop right there, you idiots!”

“Oh no, it’s Jenny…”

“Killjoy Jenny from the Disciplinary club!”

“No fighting! You’re causing a disruption and setting a bad example for the newer students,”
With Jenny’s arrival, the small crowd started to disperse, some looking disappointed that they didn’t get to see the conclusion of a pokemon battle. Others just continued eating. Jenny glared at the two offenders of the unsanctioned battle, arms folded. “There’s a time and a place for pokemon battles. Anymore of this and I’ll have to dock your points”

They both spat on the ground to show their displeasure, but returned their respective pokemons to their pokeballs. Jenny rolled her eyes. “It’s guys like you that make the Moltres dorm look bad.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“Whatevs, Preach.”

“I wouldn’t have to if you didn’t always cause trouble,”
Jenny huffed before pushing up her glasses, eyes darting around. “Where is she anyway? That leader of yours? Don't you guys always hang out with each other?”

“Boss is ditchin’”

"Said the opening ceremony's not worth it."

“I think she wanted to catch a new pokemon.”

“Of course she does…Hey you! Don’t pick at broken glass with your hands! What the heck is wrong with you?”
Rounding to where the punch table was at, the newest member of the student council hurried to where a couple of ten year olds and their aipoms were liable to make a bigger mess.

"Tchh, lame," somebody muttered as the impromptu battle was halted and the small crowd that had gathered around its periphery slowly dispersed. Left behind was a young girl in a black cap and red jacket. "Just when things were finally getting interesting around here someone comes along and ruins it," Sandy sighed and then nudged a small pokemon at her feet, interrupting it from devouring a plate of pokemon food in front of it. "Vasco don't eat so fast,"

"Gi-!"

"You'll make yourself sick idiot," Sandy said, diverting her attention more fully to the gible so she could separate it from its food until it slowed down. At least one of them was having fun, Sandy hated this kind of thing, nothing but adults giving speeches so they could make themselves feel important. At the very least she hadn't been forced into a dress like she would have been during one of her Father's events, but the whole thing was just a waste of time, wasn't there something else she could be doing?

"Said the opening ceremony's not worth it."

“I think she wanted to catch a new pokemon.”

From her position Sandy could overhear the killjoy lecturing the two would be battlers. It was ordinarily the kind of thing she'd ignore but the conversation had suddenly turned interesting. What the hell? While she was wasting her time on some dumb ceremony other people were out there catching pokemon already! Who cared if they were a dorm leader or whatever, what the hell gave her the right to get a head start!?

Sandy glanced around the loose crowd of people. The girl from the disciplinary committee was distracted and most of the adults seemed busy too. Sandy nudged Vasco gently. "Finish up, we're leaving," she said softly, causing the gible to scoff down the remaining pokefood. When that was done Sandy started moving towards the outskirts of the party. It was important not to be too obvious when trying to slip away so Sandy moved unhurriedly and took a meandering path through the crowd that looked like natural mingling to anyone not paying attention. Even with that it didn't take Sandy too long to make it to the edge of the gathering and then, with one last look over her shoulder for witnesses, slip away to strike out for the wilder parts of the island. Sandy might not be able to catch anything tonight but she might at least be able to scout out some good spots to go back to later. Hell if Sandy could find this dorm leader then she might be able to follow her somewhere really good, judging from the way the others talked about her she might know about something like that.

Anything had to be better than handing around here anyway.

Even from his vantage point at the edge of the crowd, Loy almost missed the young girl slipping off away from the crowd. A headache was starting to build behind his eyes from all the charged, chaotic energy of the celebration, and he had briefly closed them to massage at his temple with his free hand. The other was still holding his now-empty glass, he'd drained it nearly as soon as he'd picked it up to try and assuage the oncoming migraine. Certainly it was going to be a long night if he stayed here any longer, but it wasn't as though he could just leave... right?

Movement out of the corner of his eye when he reopened them, as well as a red-hot aura of determination drew his gaze towards a young girl slipping off into the darkness beyond the bright lights of the party. Glancing around, he looked for a professor, a headmaster, a dorm leader, anyone around to stop this. Certainly they couldn't just... leave?

Oh, but there was no one around.

Gently placing his empty punch glass onto a nearby table, Loy turned to slip into the darkness after the girl. It certainly seemed like she knew where she was going, and one person instead of a flood of people would be much more tolerable to Loy's senses. Not-so-quietly, he followed after Sandy, tromping through the grass with his head still half-fogged, but it was getting better the farther from the celebration he got. He focused in on the girl's energy, and everything else slowly faded into background noise as he hurried to keep up with her.

Aiden Little
The low chattering of established students pulsated across the school grounds, especially since a festivity was being held for the beginning of the term. Aiden's eyes travelled in every direction possible as he tried to take in everything. This was a completely different world from Floaroma Town, a small-populated town that the Little family occupied as one of its long-term residents. His home, the flower shop, flower fields, pokemon shop, and other neighbor's homes were the only settings familiar to him. The only education he received was from home and his trips to the nearby woods. So it was clear that he felt a little daunted with the change. But he wasn't the only one adjusting.

A soft squawk sounded from the Chatot on his shoulder, Maestro. "Maestro, I've a feeling we're not in Floaroma anymore," Aiden rubbed the top of the Pokemon's head with his index finger and flashed him a comforting smile. The Chatot's eyes drooped slightly and his posture loosened. "And look't there's lots of Pokemon here to listen to. Let's show'em and the world what we got," the salmon-colored hair boy hand clenched into a fist, as he brought his arm closer to his body.

His attention shifted from Maestro over to the concentrated groups of students. While there was no said rule, it was stark that the representation of their dorms was a big factor for student life. Red, yellow, and blue--his dormitory color. With only that piece of obtained information for placement, Aiden walked over and sat in an empty seat at one of the long tables occupied with members adorned with some sort of blue accessory. The only thing Aiden managed to find in the clothes he brought was a blue handkerchief. For that evening he chose to wear it like a headband, pulling back the hair from his face. Just as he took his seat, he noticed that some people had plates topped with food already. Aiden looked around and eventually spotted the location where the buffet of food stayed. But before he could get up to grab his serving, most of the students hushed their conversations and turned their attention towards a man.

Not wanting to stick out like a sore thumb, Aiden stayed in his seat and listened in to the announcements before grabbing food.

The excitement of the Articuno students he sat with was infectious as Aiden smiled and did a small wallop when the headmaster mentioned the star student, Eloise Trambelle. "Wow, not only is she brilliant, but she's stunning in eve'y othe way," his thoughts were spoken out in a soft murmur that only Maestro caught. The boy didn't even realize he had spoken his thoughts out loud until he heard the Chatot repeat "stunning" twice. He gasped, "Do not under any circumstances repeat what I just said." It didn't help that Maestro mimicked Aiden's voice spot-on.

Aiden and Maestro's attention had been kept to each other for the rest of the announcements until the cry of a Talonflame pierced the skies. The pair looked up to the sky above and watched with mesmerization when the reddish avian Pokemon soared the air to release flame to the stacked wood below. "Did'ya hear that Maestro! What a sound. It's definitely more in the soprano section. D' ya think you can mimic that?" Realizing the question he asked, Aiden placed a hand over the Chatot's beak, "But hold that beak. For'now let's eat. Imma starving."

Feeling more at ease with the party, Aiden's mind was focused on the options of food on the table. On the other hand, Maestro was more interested in the activity around them. The boy's head was looking down at the options below and he began piling some food onto his plate. With his attention narrowed onto the plate in his hand, he didn't notice when a certain blonde girl approached close by to serve herself some salad. It seemed that quite a crowd was trying to gain her attention, unlike Aiden, who was still occupied with trying not to spill the pile of food that was slowly becoming a mountain. Maestro spotted the star student, Eloise Trambelle, and then the Chatot spoke out a sentence, "Wow, not only is she brilliant, but she's stunning in eve'y othe way,"

Aiden gasped when he heard his voice. He grabbed a berry from his plate and stuffed it into Maestro's mouth. A soft hue of pink was appearing on the boy's cheeks, eartips and neck as he looked over to see the one and only Eloise Trambelle, "Sorry 'bout that. Guess he took that wingman position seriously. Wait-no, sorry I didn't mean nothin' by that. Ah, uhum I wish ya a fine evening." A little bit of the food he had piled on the plate spilt off when he bowed his head at the girl before he fled from the awkward situation.

Gray

As the applause died down, Gray settled in his seat. The announcements were over, but plenty of noise still filled the area. From where he was sitting, he could hear the sounds of a heated battle mix with the lively music. As the students ate and danced, he kept his eyes on the bonfire, listening to the low crackle of the flames. He took in its warmth, occasionally taking glances at the starry sky and the people around him.

Despite being much smaller, the opening ceremony reminded him of the many events he attended with his family over the years. While he wouldn't say he hated them, he was never very comfortable at large gatherings. During those times, he'd always observe his parents and siblings from a corner, watching how they effortlessly handled a room full of people. Nobody ever paid him any mind, and he never knew what to do with himself. He was polite and properly greeted people when introduced to them, but he always ended up lost. He was in a similar situation now, not knowing what to do except wait until the end. Although, the atmosphere was a lot different. Things were definitely a lot more festive here, so it wasn't nearly as discomforting as what he was used to. He couldn't shake the awkward feeling, but he wouldn't leave. The faculty members put a lot of work into making sure the opening ceremony went well, so he'd stay until it was over.

An entire month had passed since he first arrived on the island, but he was still getting used to the idea that he'd be here for a lot longer. He was able to learn a lot of things about the school and how to avoid getting lost in such a big place, but everything hadn't really hit him until now. Tomorrow would be the day it really started. He'd take his first class, start earning points, and work towards graduation. He wasn't sure how long it'd take to reach the finish line, and he didn't know if he'd figure anything out by the time he reached it.

While he was thinking about all the things to come, he hardly noticed the rustling inside his hoodie. A pair of silver ears brushed his chin, and he let out a little laugh as his partner's head poked out of his collar. "Hungry?" Finally moving from his seat, he scratched behind V's ears and followed the smell of food to the nearby tables.

Approaching with plate in hand, Gray got a closer look at the dancing students and the many boys attempting to talk to the student council president. He didn't know very much about Eloise as a student, but he'd heard some things about her outside of school. Scarlett had won many championships, and Linnea was a famous coordinator, so he often got word of rising stars in their respective fields. It was really impressive that she got far in both the Indigo Plateau Conference and Kanto Grand Festival. She also did well in school, so it was no surprise that she was popular.

Feeling V move around, Gray looked down to see him watching everyone move to the music. When the tune changed, his friend looked to him with an expectant gaze. Rubbing V's head, he gave a smile and continued moving toward the table. "I think I'll stick with the salad." He had experience with ballroom dancing, but he wasn't eager to try that out here.

”What brings a bright, young girl like yourself to an old man like me when you could be partying with the other kids?”

Jet smiled, albeit a bit bashful which wasn’t necessarily characteristic of her. From where she stood beside the professor as if he were just a fond uncle of hers, she looked out at the coordinated commotion, her one hand lightly gripping her cross body bag that rested officially against her hip. That’s also where Klefki was dangling, clearly enjoying the free ride. “Coming from Galar means all of Kanto is pretty new for me, I’ve been reading about it, I looked at the map, but it’s nothing like being here in person. I wish my brother could see it all, but he’d probably just go back to working.”

She finally found herself missing him. It hadn’t been on the flight, the boat, at the brief hotel stay or even when first arriving - it was now, where she found herself in an unfamiliar setting with all these strangers. She felt a little shrunken and sad for a moment, before she’d hear him in the back of her mind encourage her to ‘just go for it, sis’ and she physically did a small head shake to shake off the anxiety.

“That doesn’t mean I’m intimidated!” She chirped, reassuring literally no one because no one asked. “Just need to meet my dorm mates, and maybe things will fall into place. In the mean time...” she eagerly looked around, but had yet to move or budge. Eloise, for all her beauty, seemed to be drowning in attention - naturally, Jet didn’t want to make that any worse, but otherwise who would she talk to?

“Kleffy,” she murmured, to which the little key jingling creature chimed happily in response. “Let’s dance, maybe?”

the Pokémon rose from where it had been resting and did a few enthusiastic twirls by itself, before Jet bid the professor a fantastic evening and started to follow the Pokémon forward, to where anyone could be dancing but it was sprinkled and spotted with kids really doing that.

“Hard to dazzle people when you don’t know who they are,” Jet whispered to the key Pokémon, who was glistening and emitting a soft pink aura of light while the two improvised together.

Sasha Kersey

The spectacle of RBY's opening ceremony was incredibly grand. Sasha was struck with awe, an excessive smile stretching from ear to ear on his face as he allowed his emotions to pour out. "Labrys, you SEEING this? There's so many freakin' people! Look at the lights, the damn food they've got everywhere! It's like it's not even real.'" His speaking voice wasn't exactly restrained as he shouted out to his partner. "Axxx! Axew!" A similar starry-eyed look was painted on his Axew, Labrys', face as well. Both of them rarely, if ever, had experienced anything on this scale. They weren't used to being around such a large crowd all at once. With that said, they were loving every ticking second of it, breathing it all in. Labrys practically sat inside Sasha's hair. Over the years, Labrys has decided that it was the most convenient spot for her to hang out - until she evolved, that is. Hell, she wasn't exactly light right now, carrying her around all the time was workout on its own. Either way, Sasha was happy with it. Plus, he'd know if she went anywhere, as 40 or so pounds would drop off his head.

Speak of the devil, Labrys tried to jump off of Sasha's head towards the sweet aroma of good food just as Hazel began to speak. Luckily, Sasha was able to catch her in his arms before she got too far. "Woah, woah, woah! Hold your horses, Lab', we gotta stick around a little longer. Don't wanna be disrespectful or whatever, yeah? Pretty important speech." Axew let out a disappointed, but understand cry afterwards. "Ax.." Sasha looked down at Labrys while he carried her, his arms wrapped around her from her underarms. "Hey, we can destroy the food in a sec. I'm sure they'll finish quick. Plus, it'll probably be useful to hear." Labrys nodded in agreement.

Sasha listened intently to Hazel's speech, not a peep escaping his lips. Graduating, as expected, seemed to be the number one priority. Though, with the introduction of Trambelle, it seemed the points had more value than just graduating from the academy. As long as she was a strong trainer, he was interested in talking to her at least once. While Sasha's own confidence as a battler was high as of now, he was pretty sure he'd get demolished by Trambelle. Even so, it would be an amazing experience to battle a trainer like that. Sasha wasn't especially savvy when it came to the Indigo Plateau, but he knew that being a semi-finalist was an impressive feat. The way she seemingly represented the school and the way the students reacted exemplified her importance. Listening to the rest of Hazel's speech, Sasha couldn't help but grow. But because he didn't want to listen, but because the nature of the speech made him grow restless. He wanted to get to work already, alas, he'd have to wait one more day.

Both Sahsa and Labrys' attention were pulled to the sky as the cry of the Talonflame rung out, the starry night sky serving as a perfect canvas to paint the phoenix-like, fiery plumage of the bird. As the embers dropped from its wings, the wood from the bonfire was reborn into a beautiful explosion of light. The warmth radiating from it was comforting, as warm as the smile on Sasha's face.

Labrys perked up when she remembered food, jumping from Sasha's arms. Labrys did a little hop and grabbed one of his hands, beginning to pull him towards the table with food. Of course, Labrys never really cared for pokemon food. She had gotten used to eating whatever seemed good to her. Thus, both Sasha and Labrys would be fine eating from the massive selection of regular food. "Lab, you're too small ta' be pullin' me like this! You're gonna tip me over!" His minor complaint became null as they had already reached the table, Sasha growing wide eyed. "Look at all the FOOD. Where d'they even get all this stuff, you think? Labrys gave a shrug in response as Sasha scooped her up, setting her back on his head. "Ax!" Labrys was pointing directly at an assortment of meats. "Yeah, gotta say I agree with you there. I'm starving! Let's get this show started!"

Thus, the duo began to clear out an entire section of the meat. It was definitely a *show,* until they finished. In fact, their meal was interrupted by the commotion of a battle nearby, which they just HAD to check out. Labrys, of course, would be just as thrilled as Sasha to see it. While Sasha would usually be one of the loudest amongst a crowd when it came to a battle, he couldn't get over the aura and expressions the two trainers radiated. It didn't seem like they were battling to improve or due to their passion, all he could feel was anger and spite, which caused him to quickly lose interest. "Eh, it ain't worth our time. Let's get outta here." Just as he walked away from the battle, it was interrupted. "Guess we're headed back to the food! I don't think they're even allowing proper, official battle right now, either. Really is just an introduction day.. Unless we left the introduction party for a bit?" Before that, though, the two decided that they'd keep destroying the meat. They weren't full just yet, after all.

"...Hey Rictus, do Ghost Pokemon need to eat?"

"Gass...."

The young boy wandered over to the table where the boy and his strangely-colored Eevee sat. Gray, wasn't it? His partner's gaseous body floated over head, ultimately shifting to orbit around the boy's head as he steepled his fingers and leaned forward on his seat. Perhaps he was slightly sulky - he couldn't find the red-haired girl here. But, something else weighed heavily on the redhead's mind. His eyes narrowed for a moment as he reached deep within himself, recalling the reason that he enrolled at the academy in the first place.

Strength. He wasn't ambitious nor determined enough to reach for a lofty goal, like becoming the League Champion of Kalos. Nor did he seek to become the strongest trainer here. No, he simply needed to train and develop. Just what was required to execute the master stroke of a plan that'd likely carry him through the next few years here. As the young boy went over the steps he need to take inside his head, he involuntarily shivered.

"Gasssss."

"...O-Oh, right. I suppose some food would be nice right now. Let's see what they've got then."

As he rose from his seat and walked over to a nearby table and grabbed a plate, he glanced over to the Gastly overhead once more. Just how long would it take for the ghost to grow limbs? To become capable of that miraculous phenomenon he had only heard of? Using a pair of tongs, Alain grabbed some roasted slowpoke tails and drizzled some of the provided seasoning on them as he moved through the rest of the buffet line before returning to the same seat.

Once this calm before the storm ceased, he'd be sure to make the most of his time.

Aiden Little
"Don't ya ever do that again. Y'hear, Maestro?" as intimidating as Aiden wished the threat came across, it left his lips more as a plea. The Chatot nodded his head and squawked out a laugh. Despite that embarrassing moment, the boy had a plate full of food and he was at a celebration. The continuous noise was too cheery not to stay positive. With so much activity occurring, Aiden found it difficult to sit at one spot. So this left him to walk around while munching down the food he grabbed. His eyes were drawn to the various Pokemon that students had out. "Wow Maestro. There's so many other Pokemon that I've never seen here. A ghost Pokemon, a butterfly-looking Pokemon, a Rattata I believe, and oh! Look a Gible." Just as Aiden pointed out the small, blue Pokemon, the Pokemon along with its trainer slipped away into the nearby woods. Shortly after, an older student followed. "I don't think they're supposed to do that. But that's not my problem. Here, Maestro, I left you some berries," Aiden lifted up his plate to the bird Pokemon and waited until he finished eating.

Having a full stomach and the awkward moment past him, Aiden began to consider his options. His eyes wandered over to the group of blue-accessorized individuals, the bonfire that blazed in the center, then over to the students dancing close by. The music playing in the background captured Aiden's attention. He closed his eyes and felt his foot tapping to the beat. His mind visualized the notes that the students were playing at the moment and he began to hum a melody to complement it. On the other hand, Maestro was surveying the festivities before him. Then his eyes landed on an unfamiliar-Pokemon that shined and glowed with a soft pink light. The Chatot left Aiden's shoulder and flew over to the curious-looking Pokemon.

When he felt the weight on his left shoulder gone, Aiden's eyes opened, "Maestro?" He spotted the green-blue bird flying over to a trainer who was dancing with their Pokemon. Aiden followed after and called out to the Chatot just as they reached the pair, "Whadya think you're doin'? Back to me, Maestro." All the boy received was a side-eye from the Pokemon before it perched itself on top of the trainer. It was true that the boy and the bird were close, but Maestro always displayed a defiant attitude towards Aiden, just like a sibling. Realizing that he was not going to budge for a minute, Aiden sighed and turned his attention over to the trainer they interrupted. "Sorry 'bout that. He can be a mess sometimes. Seems like he took a liking to you and your Pokemon," Aiden finally glanced over to the floating key Pokemon, "Woah, what kind of Pokemon is that? It's so cool."

Caught by Jenny!
ayumi-saito-6678.jpg
Growlithe was the first to notice the two students attempting to leave the festivities. The fire producing canine barked loudly, alerting Jenny who was lecturing two ten-year olds and their aipoms. Razor-sharp blue eyes behind a thin pair of glasses zeroed in on the two boys like a dog to a bone. Or a shark to blood—whichever analogy fits better in your mind.

“Halt, you two!” Jenny called.

Sensing its trainer’s intention, Growlithe was the first to move, taking shorter path to cut Sandy off as Jenny chased from behind. The two would find their woodland venture blocked by a growling, orange-furred dog with black stripes along its back and legs.

On the other side, Jenny stood with her hands on her hips. She recognized one instantly as a 1st year from her dormitory—Sandy Venedici. The other was an older boy she didn’t recognize, meaning he was likely from one of the other two dormitories, but also implied he was probably a first year as well. “I hope you two are aware that first years aren’t allowed to wander the island without supervision.” If they didn’t know before, or no one ever told them, they certainly did now. “Doesn’t matter how wealthy you are.” She looked at Sandy as she said this. “This rule was put in place for your safety. Your father’s money won’t save you if a swarm of [wild beedrill] attacks or a [wild ursaring] does. What happens if you get lost? Injured? RBY will be held liable for anything that happens to you while on this island. You haven’t even taken a single class yet and aren’t equipped to properly deal with pokemon. Unless you’ve gained the skills to defend yourself or survive on your own, as a member of the student council, no—,” Jenny corrected. “—as your senior in RBY, I can’t permit you to pass unless you show be your PokeDex and prove to me that one of you are at least in your second year or higher.”

Jenny sighed, realizing that she was being unnecessarily hard on first years who might not have even read the rule book or had their first class where the teachers would’ve gone over the rules in more detail yet. She also knew she was being unnecessarily hard on Sandy Venedici given the girl's parentage. She couldn't help it though. “Look, I know everything is new and exciting, but this event happens only once a year so you should be like those kids,” Jenny pointed to the table where Gray and Alain were chatting. Lucem Lucem GasMaskie GasMaskie “and just enjoy the food—GEORGE! Don’t you dare pull out Snorlax! The chefs can’t make food fast enough and we don’t want a repeat of last year!”

“Wha--? That’s discrimination!”

While Jenny moved to where a couple of Zapdos students were eating, growlithe kept an eye on the students to make sure they didn’t sneak away.

AtlannianSpy AtlannianSpy hannahbbug3 hannahbbug3

Choices!
  1. You've been caught! Follow Jenny's instructions and stay in the party to follow along with the plot.
  2. Keep trying to sneak away (do this cleverly to avoid growlithe and Jenny from noticing). This will allow you to deviate from plot and create your own path. Since this rp is semi-sandbox, avoiding the plot to do your own thing is an option

The Plot Starts (sort of)...
Meanwhile, the two students that were having a pokemon battle earlier shared a cake.

“Ugh, Jenny’s at it again. She’s always making everything boring. ”

“Who died and made her a student council member?”

“Boss was right. This whole event is boring.”

“Hey, hey,”
The dark haired one smirked. “I have an idea about how we can liven things up around here,”

Aloysius' head felt clearer the farther he got from the crowd, but just when he had started to relax, a red streak zipped past in his vision, and he was left staring at a growlithe. "Huh?" he intoned, looking around when he heard someone yelling at him. Oh- they weren't allowed to leave? He... supposed that made some sense. Even if he had just been planning to go back to his room and call it an early night... the girl was right. Really, this was his chance to make his first friends here, which could turn to lasting relationships for his whole life. He shouldn't run off so soon. Besides, if he was going to make it out in the wider world he was going to have to learn to deal with people eventually, wasn't he?

"Oh, okay. I was just going to go back to the dorm- oh, and there she goes," Loy said, watching as the girl ran off to go take care of something else. At least she wasn't standing there scolding them. Loy didn't really think he was in trouble, so he let the situation roll off his back like water off a Swanna and looked back towards the party. People were dancing, now, and eating... there was still so much going on, and Loy didn't know what to do with himself. So he carefully made his way back in around the fringes, finding himself drawn towards the food and seeing if there was anything familiar there for him to eat. Really, he hadn't eaten much all day, and the empty stomach couldn't be good for his headache, right?

Before he got too far, however, he looked back over his shoulder. "Hey... want to get some food?" he asked, seeing the other student who looked like they were very much considering taking on that growlithe. @ AtlannianSpy AtlannianSpy That growlithe seemed rather determined - the red streak he had spotted before wasn't the pokemon itself, but the pokemon's emotion of confidence, burning bright and hot. "I don't think picking a fight would be a great idea."

Cliff Seymour

The sweetest song was echoing throughout the valley. It sounded like a shepherd's flute he'd heard once, somewhere. He was sitting in a pasture with a blade of grass between his teeth as a herd of Mareep milled about around him. They chewed on the grass with an attentiveness that he found very endearing, and every time one stopped to baa, he'd reach out to pat it on the head. But then patting the Mareep turned into counting the Mareep, for some reason.

Have to get all the Mareep home, he realized with urgency.

He was on his fifth Mareep when he realized that the ones he'd already counted were floating up and up, away to the moon. That was terrible news. He had to catch them! But when he tried to get up, he found it difficult to find his footing. Dark water was sloshing into the boat and making his socks damp and gross. He felt panic rise to his throat. Did Mary fly up too?

"Maryyy!" He tried to call for her to come back down, but the flute-playing had turned into a chorus that seemed adamant on drowning him out.

"It's a whole new world we live in! Durudootdoot dururu- Durudootdoot dururu- Durudootdoot dururu-"

The water was up to his ankles now. He began bailing out the boat, but the water was gushing in faster than he could manage to move his hands.

"Maryyy!"

FWEEEEET! A whistle pierced his eardrums and Cliff woke up in a cold sweat, faceplanted into a plateful of salad. His chair was rocking under him, and for a moment, he was terrified that he was still on the ship. Then he realized it was just Mary trying to reach the greens on his plate. So Mary hadn't flown to the moon. He adjusted his socks, which had become heavy with slobber, then pulled Mary away from the tabletop.

"Sorry, I fell asleep. Was tired. But I got all of your favorites... Where do you want to start?"

Cliff grabbed a fistful of dandelion greens and offered it to Mary, who sniffed at it and began chewing. "I also have apple... alfafa... carrots... celery... lettuce..." He droned on for a while, picking through his harvest with a fork. When he got to the grapes, he hesitated, then popped a particularly plump one into his mouth.

"These are really sweet," he nodded in approval. "Here, have one." He fed Mary a grape, then wiped his hand on the tablecloth.

Speaking of sweets, he wondered if the fight near the dessert table had broken up yet. He'd tried crawling under the tables to get to the cake, but tired of the attempt halfway through. Maybe it would be easier if he had someone with him. Not to mention, probably funner.

"Yo." Cliff raised a hand up in greeting to the nearest boy standing by the salad table. The boy looked to be around his age, with lovely blue eyes that reminded him of sea glass, except shinier, if that made sense. "Do you want to get some cake together?"

Sandy Venedici

Sandy was fuming. She stood stock still as Jenny lectured her, her jaw clenched and one eye twitching slightly as she bit back several fiery retorts. That bitch, how dare she!? What the hell did she know about Sandy and her Father anyway? Sandy didn't go running to that asshole to fix anything. Sandy could handle herself, she show the killjoy, she'd show everyone one day.

Suddenly Sandy snapped out of her vengeance minded inner thoughts to realise that Jeeny had actually left again, leaving a dorky little growlithe standing guard over her. What the hell!? Sandy wasn't gonna take orders from a Pokemon that came up to her ankles! It took another moment still for Sandy to realise someone else was talking to her. It was some older boy, that the killjoy had seemed to think was with her. Had he been following her? Sandy was about to tell the guy to shove off when he said something actually useful.

"Hey... want to get some food?"

Sandy brightened up, though her expression was decidely malicious. "Food, great idea!" she said, stalking back over to the feast laden tables. When Sandy returned shortly after she was carrying a plate piled up high and her appetite seemed to have become decidedly carnivorous. There were sausages, slices of roast beef and lamb and even a whole chicken breast covered in some kind of aromatic sauce.

"You know I bet standing around on guard duty all night is hungry work," Sandy said to the growlithe, placing the plate down by the pokemon and wafting the delectable aroma of the meats towards it. Down by Sandy's feet Vasco protested loudly at this preferential treatment but he was silenced by an offered meatball and a meaningful glance from his mistress. Vasco knew to keep quiet when mischief was being planned.

"You just eat up little guy," Sandy said again to the growlithe, standing up and stepping past the distracted creature and setting off once more into the wilderness. "And I will be on my way~"

Just before she left Sandy threw a comment over her shoulder to the older boy. "You can stay here if you want but I've got better things to do. Just don't narc on me or I'll come back and kick your ass," she said before disappearing into the wilderness.

Sandy had to admit it was something else wandering through the forest at night. As a perpetual runaway Sandy had been out at ll hours of the night already but that was always in the city, with so many streetlights, cars and 24 hour businesses that it might as well be daytime. The forest was properly dark, with only the pale moonlight illuminating it and doing more to cast sinister, twisty shadows then to actually light the way. Sandy found herself tripping over roots and branches, much to Vasco's delight, the gible letting out a cackling sort of huff that Sandy knew from experience was close to laughter.

"Oh shut up," Sandy said back to him as she slowed down and began to pick her steps more carefully. "You're only not tripping over cause you're so close to the ground to begin with,"

A sudden rustling from nearby caught Sandy's attention and she looked up, squinting carefully in the direction of the noise, with something like eagerness. Sandy had never actually seen a wild pokemon before, although in some parts of the city there feral rattata and the like they were rare and not really all that exciting anyway. Out here though there were real wild pokemon, the killjoy had mentioned beedrill and ursaring, that would be freaking sweet but what else might be lurking out here?

Watching the girl head off into the woods again, Aloysius felt a strange feeling creeping up the back of his throat. Something like... guilt? But why should he feel guilty? Taking a glance around at the other people nearby, he looked for motes of purpulish black to signify the feeling was coming from somewhere else, but, no. This feeling was all his own. So, why...?

Was it because his suggestion had caused the girl to have an idea that let her sneak off, anyway? Was it because his feet were still stuck here, watching her disappear into the woods, which were dangerous to be in at night, not to mention alone? He thought about running after her, or running after Jenny, or running over to snap the Growlithe out of it, or something, but the girl had looked damn serious about kicking his ass, and the problem was, Aloysius didn't know what 'narc'ing was. So... he ended up being left stuck there until Sandy had already disappeared, leaving it too late for him to do much of anything, feeling guilty and lonely both. His shoulders curled up towards his ears as he turned back towards the outrageously loud and colorful party. He was seventeen, for Arceus' sake! He should know better than to try sneaking off, he should know that this was his chance to make friends with the other first years and mingle with his classmates, but mingling had never been among his skills. Especially when things were so, so loud...

Still hanging at the fringes of the group, he finally withdrew a pokeball from within the confines of his jacket, tapping the button once, twice, and a red beam of light took shape into a familiar, soothing presence. The Alolan Vulpix shook out her fur as she appeared before him, and as Loy 'fwumped' onto the ground in a manner resembling defeat, the pokemon quickly took it upon herself to cheer him up. She hopped into his lap and curled there, rolling over to show her belly and letting Loy pet her.

"It's so loud, Elan..." Aloysius murmured, and the icy fox hopped up again, jumped to his shoulders and resting there like a cool scarf, draped around his neck and covering his ears as best she could. Letting out a deep breath, Loy tipped his head back into her frosty fur, the temperature helping the noise in his head calm and become white noise. He hoped things would wind down, soon... he wanted back in his quiet room.

Gray

It took a moment for Gray to realize that the call was meant for him. As soon as it clicked for the boy, he turned to face the student who tried to get his attention. It was a young boy accompanied by a Mareep, his face slightly covered by the hood of his jacket. He couldn't recall a name, but the hooded boy seemed familiar. Had he seen him at orientation? Maybe they crossed paths at the dorm or somewhere else on the island. Looking at his wooly friend made him think he might be from Johto.

Gray's expression softened, and he offered the shorter boy a smile. He didn't know why he chose to approach him out of everyone else, but it was nice to have a chat with someone. "Sure, that sounds good." Extending his hand, he gave a proper introduction and tried his best to make a good impression. "I'm Gray. It's nice to meet you."

As he shook the boy's hand, he noticed a floating ball of gas in the corner of his eye. Following the purple trail, Gray spotted a familiar face he hadn't seen for some time. He saw Alain sitting as the Ghastly drifted around his body, the Ghost Pokémon his only company. He thought the Moltres member would've been with Ophelia, but that didn't seem to be the case.

Looking back to the hooded boy, Gray pointed toward Alain's table. "If it's okay with you, I'd like to invite someone else. It won't take long." Not wanting to keep his new acquaintance waiting, he quickly walked over to redhead he met during orientation. He recalled that Alain was still adjusting to life on the island after leaving Kalos. Knowing how hard it was when moving to a new region, he wanted to help make the change as easy as possible. Although, he was a bit worried that he'd just be a nuisance. He got along with the boy well enough and hoped they could be friends, so he definitely didn't want to overstep any boundaries or offend him in any way.

"Are you enjoying the party, Alain?" Raising a hand in greeting, Gray called out the younger boy across the table. Of course, V made sure to greet him as well, raising a paw as his large eyes focused on Rictus and the redhead. "Would you like to eat with us?"

Sandy Venedici
"Gah!" Sandy let out a sharp exhale as a particularly well hidden root caught her foot and she landed face first in the dirt and decaying leaves of the forest floor. "Blech," Sandy sat up, cursing and spitting to clear her mouth as Vasco cackled fiendishly. "Dammit! This whole pokemon finding shtick is not supposed to be this hard!" Sandy picked herself up and brushed the dirt off her clothes, noting with irritation that a hole had appeared in her tights. Sure there had been holes in them to begin with, but Sandy had artfully torn those herself to look cool, this one was throwing the whole balance off.

And most irritating of all, Sandy had yet to encounter a single incredibly deadly pokemon yet, or any pokemon of any level of deadliness whatsoever! Wasn't thos whole forest supposed to be swarming with beedrils and crawling with ursaring? Every so often Sandy would hear something rustling in the brush nearby, but whenever she closed in on the noise it inevitably disappeared without a trace.

"Maybe wandering around aimlessly is the wrong approach," Sandy mused aloud, having gotten used to using Vasco as a sounding board for her ideas. "If we hole up somewhere maybe they'll come to us!"

Sandy's eyes alighted on a nearby tree, with sturdy looking, evenly placed branches. Sandy didn't have much to do with trees but she had plenty of experience climbing out of windows and over fences and most of that knowledge was transferable, piece of cake. Sandy picked up Vasco and got him to cling to her back and a few minutes later she had scaled about halfway up the tree and found a relatively comfortable fork to rest herself in.

"This is it dude! We're doing a proper stake out now!" Sandy said enthusiastically as Vasco climbed off her back and nestled into Sandy's lap. "Now we just gotta keep quiet and something'll show up for sure!"

Aiden Little
Interrupting a person and their companion Pokemon that you've never met, Aiden hoped that Maestro would understand the rudeness in his actions. The boy's light-colored eyes glanced up to his Chatot once more before he turned to face the girl they ran into, but just as his attention left the bird, he flew off once more. "Really? Really? Are we doing this again, Maestro?" Aiden slapped his hands on his face and grumbled, pulling down his cheeks. He turned over to the girl Maestro had been using as a perch just a moment ago, "I'm real sorry 'bout that, again. Seems like he's wantin' to party hard tonight. Better go after him now." The embarrassed, young chap bowed his head towards her once more, before he followed after the flying blob of a bird in the sky.

Aiden weaved through the crowd of Pokemon and people dancing, his eyes continuously dashing from the path in front of him up towards Maestro in the air. With only half of his attention focused on the objects in front of him, it was a miracle how he dodged arms, tails, and legs from tripping him. He spooked a few people and Pokemon which he apologized immediately too, but never collided with anyone. Just as Aiden closed the distance, Maestro swooped down towards a general direction, this swift action causing Aiden to lose sight of him. But judging from the distance he flew down, he wasn't far off. "Oh I cannot believe I hafta do this," Aiden huffed as he snaked his way towards the outskirts of the party. Once he was out on some open space, the boy cupped his hands around his mouth and hollered, "Who's that pretty bird, sitting on the tree!"

From a distance Aiden caught the familiar whistling of Maestro. Despite all the shenanigans the Chatot was committing tonight, Aiden couldn't help but smile when he heard his companion reply to his jingle. To any person close by, the manner in which Aiden sang his words almost came across as a yodel. But it was a call that Aiden created to find Maestro whenever he was lost. Tonight, was no exception as he jogged over to where he heard the whistling. Soon enough he spotted the Chatot standing close to a man and a white-fur Vulpix. This time Maestro had kept his distance, but was still curious about the pair. "Maestro. I swear. This betta be the last time. I. Have. To. Catch. You," from running to hollering, Aiden was out of breath. He wrapped his hands around the back of his head to help control his breathing. Maestro, on the other hand, was looking up at Aiden curiously as if he had not made him run a lap around the grounds.

After half a minute, Aiden turned his attention to the pair his Chatot had interrupted this time, "Sorry 'bout Maestro. He's been certainly taking advantage of the party tonight. New Pokemon and people. Hope he didn't bother y'all too much. Looked like y'all were wanting to rest." His eyes looked down at the Vulpix that rested around his neck, hoping that the man could hear him, "Are you perhaps a faculty member here? You have a mighty, fine Vulpix right there. Never seen one in that color though. I've only ever seen them in the red color."

Thus hours pass as RBY’s Opening Ceremony Feast went underway. Some were brave enough and plucked the courage to ask interested partners to dance. Others stood in the sidelines watching and catching up with old friends. Some made new friends. Some didn’t. However, whether they chose to socialize or keep to themselves all the students and pokemon were able to enjoy themselves and eat their fill—including a growlith that had intended to keep an eye on a pair of students. Therefore, no one really noticed when a certain group of first years disappeared from the party…

“Psst, wake up.”

In an unknown, misty forest where hoot-hoots could still calling and the sky was still fairly dark, a girl dressed in black nudged the sleeping bodies before her foot. Six in total. With her, that made seven. She groaned.

“If I knew this was going to happen, I would followed that Gible girl’s example and just ditched the party. Co’mon, up and at 'ems! It’s 2 AM. The feast is probably over already.”

Moving from one body to the next, the purple haired girl continued to try and rouse her fellow first years. There were some she recognized—like the kid with chatty bird-pokemon from her dorm and the smart Zapdos kid that won the PokeEgg during the Orientation. Others, she didn’t know very well, but it wasn’t as if Alice Kregar, first year from the Articuno Dormitory, went out of her way to get to know others very often. Since arriving on RBY island, she’d done nothing by hole herself in her dorm room and paint…at least until some of the older students convinced her to attend the Opening Ceremony Bonfire Feast. How had it come to this? All she remembered was quietly eating, keeping to herself, when she suddenly started to feel tired…and, by the time she opened her eyes, she was lying on grass, surrounded by darkness, trees, and six other kids. Oh, and a backpack. A bloody yellow backpack with a note stuck to it:

Welcome to RBY, Firsties! Good luck finding your way back >D

Alice had crumpled the note in anger at first before calming herself and un-wrinkling it to check for any other clues about their location. There were none that she could see. Sighing, the first year Articuno student slipped the note in her pocket before going back to her task. She didn’t really like interacting with others, but being lost with company was better than being lost alone. Fortunately, whoever played the nasty prank on them didn’t touch her pokeballs. However, Alice was also quick to notice her RBY PokeDex had been taken from her.

No contacting the teachers then.

Just some snacks, survival tools, a compass, and a crudely drawn map of RBY Island.

“I don’t know what happened, but it looks like some kind of joke from an upper year. Or Upper years." Alice rolled her eyes. "Either way, we’ll need to make our way back to the main school building by 9AM. That’s when the homeroom class for first years starts, you know. I don’t want to be late on my first day.”

Assuming they made it back in one piece. Surely whatever upperclassmen that set this up wouldn’t just leave them in area full of dangerous, wild pokemon…would they?

Eyes skirting to a rustling brush, Alice redoubled her efforts. “Wake up, Please. ”

It's a Plot-Induced Scene Change!
Following the story-line of Episode 2, all players who posted and remained in the party have been hazed/pranked by some upper years. More details about what exactly happened may be revealed as the rp progresses, but for now, you wake in an unknown forest. If your pokemon was out with you, they either fell asleep with you or were returned to your pokeball. If you were in the middle of an interaction you should've posted faster can discuss with the other player what may have transpired OOC...or say you don't remember much because, at some point, your character would've fallen asleep/been knocked out =P Creative liberty is yours with what your characters remember of the opening ceremony events. Heck, if you have your own ideas about how your character got here, pm me and I may approve. I do appreciate player involvements in plots^^

Also, as a reminder, you are now are now in an area where you are able to search for pokemon by rolling a 4-sided die. Just tag me to make it clear you are looking. The PokeShop is available for purchases and your characters have all the items listed on the character's CS except for their RBY PokeDex.

After some...undetermined...amount of time, Sandy and Vasco’s stakeout proved to be a success and a wild mankey swung down from a nearby tree to pick purple-looking berries off a bush. The simian pokemon paid no attention to the trainer or Gible watching it. It simply continued with its task, lazily chucking one berry in its fur-buried mouth after another.

Sandy Venedici
It was late and the little fork in the tree Sandy had nestled herself in was surprisingly comfortable so after the first hour or so of her stakeout she found herself slowly drifting off. It was only an insistent prodding from Vasco that pulled Sandy back to consciousness some time later.

"Nnnn, five more minutes Pierre," Sandy mumbled under her breath before her eyes fluttered open. "Huh-whuuuhh?"

"Gi!-GI!" Vasco hissed at his drowsy trainer, gesticulating with his stubby little arms at the mankey greedily pilfering berries down on the forest floor. Sandy started at the blurry little brown shape in confusion for a moment and then her memories clicked back into place and she recognised it as the wild pokemon she'd been waiting for. "Oh!" Sandy bolted up in her little nook, nearly falling out of the tree before she steadied herself and covered her mouth with her hands, freezing as the mankey broke off from its midnight feast to sniff the air suspiciously for a moment, before it returned to its berries. Sandy let out the breath she'd been holding.

"Okay!" she whispered to Vasco. "We're gonna nail him in a surprise attack! Here's the plan: I'll throw you down and you hit him with a flying take down! If we can weaken it enough we can catch it!"

"Gi!" Vasco affirmed, thumping his chest to display his readiness for battle, he was never going to pass an opportunity to show off for Sandy and the little Gible rather liked the idea of having someone else around lower on the totem pole than he was so he could boss them around.

"Alright let's do this!" Sandy whispered confidently. The young trainer tightly wrapped her legs around the tree branch and then carefully picked up Vasco, aiming the little pokemon like a missile with both hands and then tossing him towards the unsuspecting mankey.

"Go Vasco! Takedown!" Sandy called after her pokemon as he whizzed towards their opponent.

There was a Chatot nearby, singing a song. Loy remembered that much, and remembered the young man running up to talk to him about Elan. He didn't remember much after that. Maybe they'd talked a little, maybe they hadn't. At first, Loy was willing to put it all down to the headache he'd been fighting the entire night, but when he woke up cold on the ground, he realized... he must have fainted.

How embarrassing was that?

Blinking his eyes open, he sat up quickly. A little too quickly, maybe, because the world pitched and spun around him. What was going on? Where did that kid with the Chatot go...? Oh, he was right over there, passed out, too? Well... at least he wasn't the only one? But that had to mean something more was going on here.

"I..." he blinked at his surroundings owlishly, looking to the others as they woke up from whatever sort of sleep they'd been forced in to. "What's going on?" he asked with confusion clear in his tone.

Battle! Sandy + Vasco vs Mankey
340

Mankey didn't notice Sandy and Vasco until the female trainer declared her move. Or rather, declared her pokemon's moves. Turning swiftly, its eyes widened comically at the blue dragon pokemon that flew down on it like missile and tried to evade by leaping backwards into the air. Letting a out a series of angry screeches at the surprise assault, the pokemon known for its easily riled temper started to [Fling] anything it got it hands on towards its opponent--berries, branches, rocks, dirt. If it was within reach, the angry monkey pokemon threw it. Not gently either. Oh, no. It used all the strength its monkey arms could muster, aiming for the eyes, legs, or any area that could slow Vasco down.

GM: Since this the first pokemon battle of the rp, I just wanna make it clear how things will work. With every roll exchange, one pokemon loses a heart. Depending on the number below (I have no idea what it will be yet), Vasco will succeed in with its [TakeDown] or Mankey its [Fling]. Given both their HPs, 3 exchanges will determine whether or not Sandy will be able to catch Mankey. Best of luck^^

Sandy Venedici
Vasco hurtled through the hail of incoming berries like a dive bomber evading anti aircraft fire, but a particularly ripe oran berry splattered over his eyes, temporarily blinding the valiant gible and causing him to veer off course and crash in a nearby bush with a loud yelp.

"Damn!" Sandy cursed, steadying her grip on the branch she was sitting on. "Uhh- Oh! Use Sandstorm! You don't need to aim that one!"

A growl of acknowledgement came from the bush Vasco had landed in and moments later it began to rattle and shake as a rapidly spinning cloud of sand began to emerge from within. The sand cloud grew rapidly in speed and size until it encompassed most of the clearing the two pokemon were battling, obscuring their views and assaulting vulnerable flesh with stinging flecks of sand.

From her position above the battle Sandy peered down anxiously into the sand cloud, toying with Vasco's pokeball. He hadn't been in many battles before and Sandy wondered for a moment if it would be better to return him to safety under the cover of the sandstorm. But the hesitation lasted only a moment before Sandy steeled her resolve. Together they could do this! Besides Vasco would never forgive her for making him run away from a fight.
