Fandom Poke`mon Redwood: A Collaborative Adventure

i looked frightened as my dad reached for my arm, and backed up toward my friends as I started to tear up, dragging dopey with me. Chad steps in front, shielding me from my dad. "d..dad .. y.. your scaring..me..plz.. stop.."
"stop scaring moony old man" Chad said in a serious voice but dad kept coming. I look at my friends for help, mostly at Damian since hes an adult.

"Whoa, easy now" Damian said as held his arm in front of him, holding his egg in his other.

"Curse is just the name of a Pokemon move, lots of non Psychic and Ghost types can learn it."

Damian held his stance and continued,

"I understand your fears, but once Dopey reaches a high enough level Moonlight can make him forget it in favor of a different move"

Damian put his arm down and used it to support his egg.

"Now, me and Rosie are most certainly not gangsters, I'm a scientist and Rosie is an aspiring trainer like your daughter wishes to be, if you'd like us to leave your home we will, but I urge you to allow her to go on her journey"

Damian stood there anxiously awaiting their response, as he stood there he thought to himself,

"Damnit Finn, you didn't tell me her parents were CRAZY..."

Rosie stood there watching the scene in pure terror and shock.

Even her Mother knew about 'Curse', but then again her Mother taught this for a career, so...

She was very confused by the quick escalation of this whole affair, and looked like she was about to cry with every odd word that came out of their mouths.

With a pouty lip and teary-filled puppy eyes, Rosie could only beg with her body language what Damian was begging for with words, nodding to support him 100% while being unable to actually speak for herself due to holding back tears.

Though she knew in her heart no matter how they protested, Moonlight was free to go as she was officially an adult... She wasn't sure if Moonlight herself knew that, or how Rosie could even te--

Oh.

"M-m-ma'am, S-s-sir, D-damians right... A-and technically you c-c-can't stop her from going on her journey anyway, a-a-as she is already a registered t-trainer and full fledged adult..."

There went her mouth again.

While Rosie hated to admit this... She did sense a pattern...

"I-if you hold on to her too tight, she's bound to want to get further away from you as long and a-a-as far as po-possible, s-s-so i-if you don't want to lose your daughter l-like how you lost y-your son, pl-please s-stop... M-my mother was over-bearing like you are... a-and also lost my big brother because of it..."

Well, whether Rosie liked it or not, her mouth had a mind of its own. And if anything, one good thing came from this: Now she knew firsthand her and Moonlight had common ground, both were sisters without their brother. It wasn't much, but.. it was a darn good start.

Marianne came back into the room with an actual shotgun, which was probably thought to be a bluff by the new trainers, and handed it to her husband. He stood from his "hug position" and pointed the gun directly at each of the two "cultists" and then at the slowpoke.
"If I were you I'd mind your own business you devil worshiper! Moonlight, I'm not going to say it again, you have a choice to make. Right now the devil is tempting you little lady, and you're about to get dragged down a very dark path if you listen to those heathens. If you come with daddy he can get you a new poke`mon, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let some psychic move possessed beast, and disrespectful cultist gang members take you away. It's true that we already lost Luther, but he was possessed by something evil. We can still save you... please..." He looked upon his daughter with pleading eyes, but when she shook her head violently in response, clear fear in her eyes he knew he had to save her from this terrible beast which gazed hungrily into his soul.
"Bwow."
In response to the beasts awful roar, Richard fired the shotgun, blasting slowpoke's tail in half, splattering blood about his daughter, her friends, and the room. The horrible beast didn't make a sound.
"It... It doesn't even feel pain..." Richard stated.
"Richard do something!"
He aimed the shotgun at the slowpoke's head, shaking both in fear, and a profound sadness at his daughter's choice to join this cult.
"God save you Sweety... Leave, None of you say a word, and leave. Never come back. The lord has you in his hands now, someday may you find forgiveness, and take that beast's flesh with you."

I stood there looking horrified as i feel the warm blood drip down me. I start shaking and looked at my dad in fear as i see the gun pointed higher at me. "D..D..Daddy...w..what.." I could not finished my sentence as i started breathing hard. It felt like i need to cry but nothing was coming out. Chad grabs my face in his hands forcing me to look at him. "Moony..Moony look at me.. everything will be OK.. lets get our baby to the professor. Okay little one? come on breath plz its going to be okay" As he talking i just stare blankly at his face thinking. my parents really are crazy..dad shot my baby..how...how dare he..my little baby's been threw enough..i..i hate them..hate them sooooo much... I started crying "I HATE YOU!!!!!" I run out of the house crying, still carrying dopey in my arms. I could only think of one place to go, the Pokemon center. Even though there was a pokemon center in town, near the rout that led to the Professor's lab, I felt I should go to the one at the professor's lab because that's where they checked Dopey before. I rushed as fast as I could since Dopey was still bleeding, Chad jogging quickly behind me.

Damian's face went grim and his jaw set. He grabbed Rosie lightly by the arm and moved her out the door.

"Go on Rosie I'll meet you outside" Damian said trying his best not to growl in anger.

Damian moved over to where Dopey's tail was and he picked it up. He then turned to Moonlights parents and he spoke calmly.

"You ever stop to consider that the light you're following so blindly, could be the fires of hell?"

He then tossed Dopey's tail in their face and continued,

"You break it you buy it dickhead"

Damian then turned and ushered Rosie out the door in front of him, walking with her to the pokemon center at the lab, where Moonlight no doubt took her injured Slowpoke.

Rosie was already bawling and in tears. This was just been the greatest day. The greatest day involving lots of bodily fluids.

And by greatest day she actually meant the worst.

She let Damian escort her out of the home while she was bawling in tears. She whimpered and cried while Damian walked with her to follow Moonlight to the nearest pokemon center.

She was saying plenty of things incoherently through choking on tears, mostly "oh dear lord, why?"

She thought her mother was over-bearing... Poor Moonlight... No wonder...

She hoped her slowpoke would be alright... It was just its tail, right? Nothing vital...?

I walk in to the professors lab looking around for the professor when i didn't see him i walked up to a guy. "sir..can u tell me where the professor is...i need his help..." I sniff and hold slowpoke tighter hoping hes OK.Chad came up behind me and put his hand on my shoulder.
"Oh dear lord... Well you're going to want to heal your pokemon first.... Where's his ball?" The professor's assistant looks confused.
I pull the luxury ball the professor gave me out and hand it to him. "He hatched... *sniff* and I didn't know how to put him in the ball yet... and then he.... *sniff* he got hurt again... *sniff*"
The aid looked at me a little sadly, seeming to understand, and helped get Dopey into his ball, then he led us to a machine that looked kinda funny, and put the ball in one of six round slots that it fit into snugly. The machine glowed and made an almost catchy set of dinging sounds, then he handed me back the ball.
"Well, I don't know much about that poke`mon, but I'm sure he'll be alright. Those machines cure anything from paralysis to severe burns. He should even be ready for another battle if you need him to be."
"He didn't battle... My dad shot his tail off with a.... a gun..." I looked down at my feet, feeling ashamed at what my dad did, even hoping that he would get in trouble.
The aid looked surprised.
"Uh... well maybe he had a good reason..." he aid tried to comfort me. "Um... if you want me to I can call an officer and see about having it sent to your house to talk to him about it... But I'm not really sure what else to do. He could get in a lot of trouble though, attempting to kill a pokemon is illegal, and slowpoke tails are actually an illegal product in Orbos as well, he could be looking at prison."
"i...i dont know what happened... one moment mom was fine...i said what moves dopey had..and she..flipped out..then..dad...they... I don't know..." I started to cry uncontrollably, holding the luxury ball in two hands and hugging it against my wet cheek.
"Uh... so do you want me to call someone or..." he looked at me for a response, but when I didn't give one he looked at my friends.

Damian_Trainer_Card_2.png

Damian led Rosie back to the Pokemon Center at Redwoods Lab. She was crying, Moonlight was crying, and Dopey was chill as fuck...

The scowl left Damian's face a few steps out of Moonlights house, as he tried to comfort Rosie.

"There, there" he began, awkwardly patting Rosie on the head, "It's um... well it's certainly not ok, but it will be"

Damian cringed at his own shitty comforting skills. He'd never really been around that many people, let alone sad ones. If she'd been a Pokemon he'd know exactly what to do but alas that wasn't the case.

Damian led Rosie through the doors, and heard Moonlight talking to the aid at the desk.

"i...i dont know what happened... one moment mom was fine...i said what moves dopey had..and she..flipped out..then..dad...they... I don't know..."

The aid looked uncomfortable, as he responded as best he could,

"Uh... so do you want me to call someone or..."

Damian approached with Rosie and looked at the aid, who he recognized.

"Just give us a sec Robby" he said as he pulled Rosie and Moonlight aside so they wouldn't block the counter.

He set his egg on a nearby chair and knelt down to the girls, pulling then into a hug to comfort them.

"It's alright, just breathe" Damian then let them go and pulled out his Pokegear, loading up the Pokedex function.

"Here let me show you guys something"

He opened up the entry regarding Slowpoke and turned it toward them. Letting them see the entry as the Pokedex read it aloud.

"Although slow, it is skilled at fishing with its tail. It does not feel pain if its tail is bitten"

"See? Dopey didn't feel a thing" Damian smiled at them reassuringly,

"His tail will grow back in no time, just you watch"

Damian then picked his egg back up, and looked at Moonlight.

"Now as far as your parents go I don't really know what to say."

Damian's smile went away, but was replaced with a sympathetic look.

"I do know that what they did was illegal, and extremely irresponsible, and that they could face jailtime for it"

Damian sighed as he continued,

"They're your parents and you're an adult now, so I'll let you decide whether or not to involve the police. Whatever your decision is I'll understand and support it 100%"

Damian looked at the girls and awaited a response from either of them. He knew that it was a lot to process at the moment but it was important to involve the police as soon as possible if thats what they were doing. Also, Damian wasn't too good at the whole comfort thing anyway...

The small brunette nodded and whimpered at Damian comforting her during the walk. Rosie wiped her tears, but looked a little better as she saw from Damians Pokedex that Dopey was going to be okay. At least that was one thing...

"Th-that's good, at the very least..." Rosie sighed to herself in relief upon being told that.

She sort of shot looks at Moonlight as Damian said this, for it was her parents this time, not Rosies, and this was really up to her to decide...

Plus, her Mother was already in jail whether Rosie wanted her to be or not...

"W-well it's up to Moonlight..." Rosie muttered quietly.

I look over at chad he looks upset "Moony its up to you, you will make the right choice" I sigh and nod and looked over at the guy "yea..we need to tell the police..." I sit on my butt and hug my legs to my chest looking down at my bloody feet.i really want my brother . I sit there quietly as chad sat in front of me i looked at him. "what should i do now chad..my dad..dose not want me anymore...i don't know what to do..im scared..they don't love me anymore..." crying again chad hugs me and shushed me patting my back "its okay moony..we will look for your brother..he loves you no matter what.."

The aid got information from moonlight in order to make the call regarding her parents, including whether or not she wanted to talk to the police about what happened herself. Since she did not wish to speak to an officer he told her where she could find the professor, assuring her that he'd take care of everything.
"Is my mom's oddish going to be ok...?" she asked worriedly.
"I'm sure it'll be all right, if there's never been a problem before with the oddish I don't see why there would be one now, but if your parents do get arrested it'll be placed into the PC until they're released, so it'll be just fine."
He also called for another aid to walk her to her destination.
As the aid walked moonlight walked down the hall toward the daycare center, where she was told the professor would be, he could see she was surprised to see the many pokemon behind a fence, almost like a farm or petting zoo. As he walked her up to the professor he cleared his throat.
"Professor, you have a visitor."
Redwood turned around, wearing a very funny looking pair of thick glasses over his eyes. Removing them from his face he frowned slightly.
"What happened?"

Damian_Trainer_Card_2.png

"Hey Finn," Damian sighed, "Some bad shit went down at Moonlight's house..."

Damian didn't know if Moonlight wanted to tell him herself but he figured that she was probably still too shaken up from the whole ordeal to make sense of it.

"In short, we stopped by Moonlight's so she could show them Dopey and so we could pick her up some shoes for the road. Then her parents went Primapeshit when they heard he knew Curse and started accusing us of being a cult. Then her mom got her dad a gun and her dad shot Dopeys tail off, while Moonlight was still holding him I might add, then he pointed the gun at her, spouted some religious mumbo jumbo, and told her never to come back"

Damian let the story sink in as he stood there with a look on his face that could only be described as the bastard child of anger and exhaustion.

Fin couldn't believe what he had heard. First Rosa goes crazy, and now this? He actually had to hold back laughter because he felt that it was so unreal. Was Ashton Ketcher around the corner for an episode of Gotta Catchem Off-guard? No, this was real. This is what being an adult was like.
"May I see him Moonlight?"
He took the pokemon into a "nurse" room in the daycare center and let him out, looking at his tail and grimacing. He then went into the kitchen of the nursury and found a large chopping knife, making sure that it was sharp. He walked back into the room with slowpoke and made a clean cut, making sure the wound was properly cleaned and then wrapping it properly in bandages. Following this, placed the ball into a healing machine again, washed the large coin of slowpoke meat in the sink, inspecting it for any kind of foreign object, and once he discovered it was indeed clean he placed a portion of it into his mouth, savoring it slowly and taking a few moments to reflect on how to address them as he finished eating it.
Redwood then reached into a supply closet in the nurse room, fishing out some crocks that he thought would fit moonlight, and calling his front desk.
"Hey Robbie, did these kids happen to tell you what happened? Mmhmm. Alright then, thanks Robbie."
He then walked back out to address them, sighing before he spoke.
"Listen Moonlight, I'll give you the same advice I gave your friend Rosie. Your parents are adults and they make their own choices, and these choices have nothing to do with you. You're an adult now, and you can make your own choices as well. I know it hurts when things like this happen, and I know you don't understand why it happened, but you can't focus on that now. All you can do is decide whether or not you still want to take care of Dopey, and do that the best that you can. If your parents don't come around, as far as I'm concerned that's their loss, because you guys are a great bunch of kids from what I can tell and facing hardships is all part of the journey, so its really up to you to decide, is this the end of the road for you, or is this just another test on your journey?"
Finn really hoped his words were as inspirational as they sounded, but honestly he was still a little distracted. He wasn't able to get a hold of Tobi to talk about whatever it was he wanted to speak with him about.
"I want you to meet someone Moonlight, he might make you feel better." Redwood then pulled a ball out of his lab coat and let out a creature that greatly resembled Dopey. It stood 5'3" and weighed roughly 173lbs.
"This is HeavyDuty. He's a Slowbro, and with a lot of hard work Dopey could be like this some day, and look, HeavyDuty isn't bothered at all by the mutated Shellder vampiring his tail, and that goes on 24/7, so you really don't need to cry over him, he's gunna be just peachy. So if everybody ok?"
"Bwow" HeavyDuty commented.

Rosie kept her head down and shook her head silently in agreement as Damian explained the situation, not that he needed an eye-witness to verify the tale wasn't tall, but it still felt like the right thing to do, and that would always be the option Rosie would take, no matter what.

She watched in relief as the professor cleaned Dopeys wound, and smiled, knowing he would help Dopey, and sure enough, when he returned, the wound was cleaned up nicely and bandaged.

She placed her hand on the no-longer-barefoot blonde's shoulder and shot her an encouraging smile, if not with a little bit of sadness mixed into it as well.

"See? Dopey will be alright, if this guy can stand that Shellder on his tail for the rest of his life, Dopey can stand a measly bullet," She giggled to imply she was joking and not actually trying to belittle a shotgun shot.

I nod a little bit and looked down at my ball sniffing a bit. "yea...hes okay that good..thanks Rosie, Damian. sorry about my family..there really..uh..crazy..sorry that you guys had to witness that.." i smile" so when r we leaving?" i look at my friends in wonder and a little excitement thinking about all the adventures and me finding my brother.

Damian_Trainer_Card_2.png

Seeing Moonlight smile helped alleviate some of Damian's anger and anxiety.

He smiled and nudged Moonlight.

"It's all good kid," Damian chuckled, "I've been through worse"

He then turned to Rosie and continued,

"So you said something about stopping at the police station?"

Rosie beamed back at Moonlight, happy to know her Slowpokes speedy recovery was lifting her spirits (which needed much lifting after that hellish visit to her parents house).

Though now, however, it seemed as if it was her turn to be troubled by troubling parents, because now Damian was asking her why she wanted to stop by the jail.

"A-ah... Well... You see... I-I don't have a key to my house... S-so when m-my mom got taken away..." Rosie trailed off and looked down, hanging her head in shame, "Sh-she took the key to the house which is locked, with her... I did plan to start my journey today... but only after I gathered some belongings from my room... I-I don't even have a swim suit, which is a must for a water-pokemon owner..."

She sort of started to draw shapes in the group with her feet, clearly uncomfortable with the subject at hand.

"I don't know that I'd call a swimsuit a must have unless you plan on doing some sort of swimming routine with it. Plenty of water type trainers get along without swimming just as many electric types do without batteries and fire trainers do without matches. In fact I know some trainers who are absolutely terrified of water who love water types. My point is I think you should start thinking outside the box young lady, and the sooner the better. What makes a great trainer great is following their hearts, not the latest issues of "Lilligant Lovely" or "Trainers Fashion". Not that those aren't great sources for aspiring contest divas."
Redwood chuckled at his comment, not sure if he was joking or not truly, but being quite amused at the little girls dedication to "parenting". He was sure she was going to be a great trainer, even if she was a little "baby book" about it.

1516916958440.png

Rosie blushed and immediately hung her head at Redwoods response, hoping he didn't think her a snob or something.

"A-ah! I-I know, I-I just figured... S-since I have a water-type... I-I'd like to swim with Poseidon... I do like the water..."
Rosie mumbled, looking away and trying to hide the fact she does indeed read 'Lilligant lovely' quite fanatically.

Rosie wasn't exactly sure she wanted to try her hand at contests, but if they brought in enough bail money for her Mother... maybe...

She'd have to see how much each path earns, but for now it was definitely Gym battles.

"E-either way, I do have some clothes and supplies I need... S-so... I need to go to the police station and get the key from the officers..." Rosie muttered her reasons a bit more clearly, more embarrassed.

Damian_Trainer_Card_2.png

"It's still pretty handy to have a swim suit, in case we need to do some Surfing around"

Damian held his egg in his left arm and pointed dramatically out the door with his right.

"TO THE POLICE STATION!" Damian declared triumphantly as he led the party out of the lab, waving a goodbye to Redwood as he did so.

Rosie smiled and giggled at Damian's comment, also smiling and waving at the Professor as the small group of new friends left the Lab once again and this time headed for the local Police station... Where her mother was...

She tried not to advertise her sudden drop in mood, but she knew going here sort of... solidified that reality that her mother was in jail...

It was strange, of all the things to happen to her today... That was the most hardest thing to admit was real. This was her life. This was her reality now. She sort of walked in silence as they made their wait to the station, but every step closer they got Rosies face fell further into despair.

She decided, now more than ever, that she needed someone to hug and cuddle, and that Poseidon was the perfect pokemon for that. She looked at him and smiled, though it was obvious said smile was forced. The Popplio looked confused for a moment and Rosie smiled at it genuinely and began to sing a song her mother had taught her when she was younger, to the tune of 'Are you sleeping, Brother John?'

I am special, I am special, look at me, look at me! There is no one like me, there is no one like me! I'm u-nique! I'm u-nique!

Poseidon, in turn, clapped and bwarked so excitedly that he doused her face in water. Then proceeding to bwark amusedly, undoubtedly laughing if he could.

"You're... Gonna rope me into some comedy routine involving dousing me with water, huh...? Guess I made the right call wanting a swim suit haha..." Rosie sighed, shaking her head in both disappointment and to shake the water off, though it was more welcome than the Ekans saliva from earlier.

When they finally arrived, Rosie took a deep breath and paused for a moment before opening the door.

"Uhm, excuse me... My name is Rosalina Chandra... I'm here to see if I could... Get my house keys from my mother... Rosa Chandra... She was arrested earlier today... f-for theft... I-I know visiting hours must be over but I can't get into my house without them..." Rosie sort of bashfully explained her situation, eyes glued to the floor as she does, wondering exactly how it looked to see a little girl with her clothes slightly splattered in poorly attempted to wash out blood asking to see her arrested mother.

The officer nodded and checked his computer information. "Why, it seems that bail was posted about an hour and a half ago young lady. Her boyfriend came in and they went home. She'll be summoned again for court once we have a date, and she won't be allowed to leave town, but otherwise it looks like she should be home to let you in." The officer nodded, hoping to alleviate some of her tension.

1517081715742.png

"O-oh! Well, alright! That's wonderful, I-- WAIT, HOLD ON, WHAT?!" Rosie nearly shouted upon hearing this.

Of course her emotions were a mix joy, shock, hurt, and disbelief.

Boyfriend?!

Who?!

SInce her father left, as long as Rosie could recall, her mother had never had a boyfriend before! She didn't even recall her ever even inviting a friend over, let alone a man, let alone a boyfriend! What was going on here?! This day was becoming more and more bizarre with every passing second!

"Th-thank you, a-and sorry to bother you!" Rosie, completely forgetting her friend were there, dismissed herself from the station and made a dash for her house.

"M-mom?! Mom!"
Rosie called, knocking on her house door frantically when she finally reached it, nearly out of breath.

"I fucking knew it" Damian thought as Rosie sprinted for her house.

He walked with Moonlight calmly toward the building that Rosie was at, pulling his Pokégear out as he did so. He held it in his hand and started flipping through the Pokédex entries he had accrued, ready to switch to call mode to alert Redwood at the drop of a hat.

He reached the front porch and looked at Rosie,

"Anyone home kid?" Damian asked, trying not to let his suspicion get the better of him.
